your analysis on the black egg was super cool!! and it got me thinking, what are your thoughts on the role of the ancient bug corpse that houses the egg in all of this?? so, why PK chose it specifically, and if it somehow was a good place to make an elaborate void construct powered by seals in, etc
In universe, there's no real way to know
Maybe it was the only unoccupied space large enough to house the egg
Maybe the egg or the chamber at its core was already there, like the weird chamber where the shade spawns in the colosseum of fools, and it was later repurposed for the seal
Maybe the location has relation with how they sealed Radiance in the first place
But the location is rather unassuming, being pretty much a commonly transited route not that close to crystal peak or in some sort of center
Not really helpful to dispell the mystery, but I personally like to think/headcanon that the corpse was that of an ancient caterpillar (Bardoon shows us caterpillars can get really large in this world). Some of the soul totems seem to depict caterpillars as well, famous example being the dragonhead caterpillar.
The horns all over the temple makes me think strongly of this one (I search it up under the name of dragon caterpillar (not to confuse with dragonhead) but honestly I'm not sure if that's the actual name)
I found an interesting bug you might like. It's called a trilobite beetle and they're really cool
GASPED SO LOUD, these guys look so awesome, they're like if ladybug larvae had a second form
Reading up on them some more it seems that these guys have crazy dimorphism going on. Apparently the females remain in this more larvae looking stage hence the trilobite look while the males look vastly different.
This one's a male trilobite beetle. These guy's are absolutely stunning, look at those antenna, they're like antlers.
some splat doodles in between doing a bigger project for an irl thing
[IMG ID: Three images of various Splatoon characters. Image 1 features Shiver and Frye in alternative detailed outfits reminiscent of their in-game outfits. Shiver is holding her fan and Frye is grabbing her own arm.
Image 2 is a few various drawings of Frye. Top left is her as the 'sitting cutely' reaction image. Top right is tiny Frye dressed as a 'portly little sailor boy' with a lollipop. Bottom left is a tiny Frye doing a peace sign and bottom right is Frye when she sits down in her splatfest performance doing the finger gun pose.
Image 3 is a page full of Marinas plus one Pearl. Left is a fullbody of Marina in coveralls and a tanktop with gloves and a wrench in her pocket. Upper right is a drawing of Marina welding on the ground and kicking her legs. Below that is Pearl and Marina doing the tongue out hands on head anime pose with the label on Marina saying 'built a pipe bomb.' Pearl's label says 'funded it.' /END ID]
Bumblebee is the name for members of the Combee line with a Joltik/Galvantula father. This breed is rare since Vespqieun rarely ever want to mate with mon that aren't Combee, seeing most other bug types as enemies. The breed was named after their fluffy bodies.
Combee
Because Vespiquen often see other bugs as enemies, crossbreed combee are often driven out of their hives. This isn't that bad for female Combee, who are better suited to be by themselves, but it's often a bigger problem for male combee who rely on others to survive. This breeds fluffy bodies help them carry more pollen, which is good if they're living on their own.
Vespiquen
Bumblebee Vespiquen have similar behaviors to standard Vespiquen, but they tend to be more gluttonous and aim for prey instead of just eating honey. Since Vespiquen have a natural instinct to lead, the ones that were driven out of hives tend to find other lone Combee and make hives with them. Hives that are run by crossbreed Vespiquen tend to have a smaller population but are more tight-knit and accepting of new members.
Anyways, Vespiquen. Like Galvantula, these Vespiquen will set traps to catch mon that come by. The hives they make can also often resemble spider webs as well.
//My designs can be used by anyone of you credit me!
Could I suggest a design based off of the spotted lanternfly?
I'm not able to buy designs at the moment, so feel free to put it up as an adopt if you wish!
The Lantern Keeper
No performance goes without the lights illuminating the stage: or, in this case, the flames!
The keeper ensures there is neither too much or too little light present so the viewers may experience the atmosphere of the troupe tent in the best intended ways. The little fire lumaflies dance around the keeper, follow the instructions, rest and charge at the lanters and cast the fire and light at the command. The keeper is never without them or at least a single lantern.
