So... I have a bit of an announcement to make. It’s hard for me to make and I don’t really know how to eloquently state it, so I just will.

In early July I was diagnosed with cancer, and a rare form of cancer too. Rare enough that the closest specialist is four hours away. Thankfully from what I’ve been told so far, my prospects look good, but we’ve been playing it by ear. However, the time between now and recovery may be long, painful and far too expensive.

 And that’s the difficult part for me to bring up. I was working on a tight budget even before my health became an issue, but it’s even more so now. With medical and school bills now on top of my already strict funds it feels like I’m drowning. I’ve been taking up more hours at work even though I should be on bed rest just to make ends meet, but this will only last so long.

With encouragement from a friend, I set up a donation page on my Ko-fi, now I won’t ask you to donate. But just reading this and possibly sharing this post will be more than enough help! I hope you all will be understanding as well if my content becomes less frequent because of this major life event and I appreciate your patience. However, if you do find that it is possible to help in these trying times, I am so grateful.

Either way if you decide to donate, share this post or have simply read to the end, I wish to say thank you. It has always been my dream to share my passion and work with others and to inspire those who see it. You all make me feel seen and have inspired me to be more. ok gonna be fully honest i dont watch the superbowl cause im too pretty but apparently they put up a "stop being mean to israel :(" message on there. they also sent funds to them last october at least

anyway yesterday they found the bodies of a six-year-old palestinian girl, her whole family, and the two ambulance workers sent to retrieve them, all killed by israeli army gunfire. she had called for help beforehand, hence the ambulance, and her call is recorded. the iof was told ahead of time that the ambulance was coming and approved it, then destroyed the van on purpose. their bodies were left there for two weeks. they are part of around 600,000 casualties among the palestinian civilians.

Seeing that @green-with-envy-phandom-event is starting today I thought I could post some of the lineart I submitted for the event.

Here's the Snowball fight which I had spent a couple of hours composing, it's my only entry from the Disabled AU but was lots of fun to make. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's going to look like colored.

In case you are wondering where the Phantom comic is or when the next page will be out I can only say that I don't know. There are almost six chapters sketched out so there will be more.

However, (and I don't like to talk about personal stuff but feel like you deserves to know why there hasn't been an update.) Frankly, I've had a low period where I haven't been able to create much at all. It's been hard to motivate myself to finish the sketches and make pages for the comic. I am doing it for my enjoyment, so when it feels like a struggle, I take a break and do other things.

Now bad news never comes alone, and my grandpa passed away suddenly last month so I'm now going to help my mom with the funeral that is next week. It's going to take a lot emotionally from me but I am combining it with meeting some great friends while I'm there.

Hopefully I'll get back to drawing the comic with a couple of pages each month. Heck, the Next chapter is 40 pages long and I'm getting excited thinking how they are going to look when I'm finished with them.

Oh well. Now you know.

I'm just procrastinating work by thinking about the distressing decline of critical thinking and media literacy, but the take "Writing dark content allows people to heal from their own negative experiences," while true enough, also feels like it is missing a critical dimension:

Fiction needs victims because empathy is a learned skill.

Through sympathizing with the plights of fictional characters, upon whom we can safely project ourselves, we learn to identify with the suffering of others in the real world as well, even those with whom we do not share similarities.

Fiction's central function is the recognition and resolution of conflict, an absolutely vital real life skill that requires the ability to resonate with the challenges of those outside our Self.

Our stories need suffering so the real world can have less of it.
