Is anyone else here an old Taiwan pop fan? Because as much as I am loving and obsessing over Unknown, I am 100% relating to all the interviewers who are essentially looking at Chris and going "What do you mean you did a BL?" (But like specifically Da Ye getting 'mad' and pretending to puke every time Chris does fanservice 🤣🤣🤣)

Also, when I tell you Chris is relatively tame this time around in promotions...he's taking this older brother persona seriously. I'm hoping as promotions continue he gets a little more unhinged. Like The Iron Four promotion unhinged. Because you can see the suppressed glee in his eyes every time his friends have to be professional and ask him questions about the show and he gets to answer in a way that makes them want to hit him

I don't particularly trust people whose critiques of stuff like Black Panther and Star Wars which is "woke" include complaining about being called "racist" or "sexist" for not liking the movie

Even if the arguments really aren't racist or sexist or whatever, feelings attacked by those accusations shows insecurity in my opinion. The way I see it, if you know you're not a racist and you disliked the movie for non-race related reasons then those arguments aren't directed at you, because you're not a racist.

Also it might show a level or either naivety or ignorance if you don't know there really are people who hated the movie for purely sexist or racist reasons and that could affect your credibility; and you know assuming all defenses are bad faith

Thoughts on the little mermaid trailer? 🐚

Fun fact about me, anon, I love mermaids. They're probably my favourite fantasy creature. There's just something about them that's always struck a nerve with me, and I tend to blame it on growing up so close to the ocean and being a pretty avid swimmer myself, but if I'm honest, I think it's an interest that started with Disney's The Little Mermaid.

It was my favourite Disney movie growing up (although it came out a year before I was born, haha), and me and my sister wore out our VHS of it and knew all the words to all the songs in both English and Italian (the latter because our neighbour who used to look after us sometimes after school when my mum was at work was Italian and only had the Italian dubbed version, haha).

So yeah! I'm kind of excited to check it out? I haven't loved any of the Disney live action adaptations, but I really like Halle Bailey (I love her voice, and enjoyed her in Grown-ish) and am excited to see her as Ariel, and I think Rob Marshall's a p good director? I especially love Chicago, and appreciate the underwater talent he showed with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, so I think this could be an interesting adaptation? I'm really hopeful for it, and will definitely be seeing it on the big screen!
