New Thanos series against a new Illuminati formation launching in November.
"This November, Earth will once again tremble before the power of Marvel Comics’ most feared supervillain in an all-new THANOS solo series!
From Chris Cantwell, the writer who brought Marvel’s other big bad to Eisner-nominated heights in DOCTOR DOOM, and Luca Pizzari, the acclaimed artist known for his recent work on X-MEN: BEFORE THE FALL - HERALDS OF APOCALYPSE #1, comes a four-issue limited series that presents a riveting fresh take on the Mad Titan.
The saga will follow Thanos as he rockets to Earth from the darkest depths of the cosmos to undertake his most ambitious conquest yet. The only ones that can quell his passionate fury is a new Illuminati. Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man have reunited to guide the superhuman world from the shadows, and joining this new incarnation are Emma Frost and Blue Marvel. This cabal composed of Marvel’s greatest minds has wasted no time in sharing a secret that will shatter the heavens and provoke Thanos’ deadly wrath like never before!
Thanos vs. the Illuminati! The Mad Titan descends upon Earth to retrieve something he has lost. And the Illuminati must band together to stop him, because they’re the ones who hid it from him!
"I’ve had the honor and joy of writing some of Marvel’s greatest villains, so you can imagine how excited I am to not only tackle the Mad Titan himself, but pit him against some of the most powerful brains and fists out there—this latest lineup of the Illuminati," Cantwell said. "But I think folks will find the backdrop of this story quite unexpected, mischievously funny, and heartbreakingly human, for what has drawn Thanos back screaming into the universe is a singular pain and desire for connection that he believes only one essence in existence (and non-existence) can give him… while this being is in turn grappling with some deeper questions about what they are, and what they want to be. Plus, Thanos hot-wires a pickup truck."
"I could tell right from reading the first panel description that this book was gonna be something else," Pizzari shared. "I never even met Chris before and yet it’s like he wrote this book reading my mind; there are a lot of characters I’ve always wanted to try my hand on. Thanos himself is, of course, unbelievably fun to draw, I’m constantly telling myself to make him bigger and bigger!"
[Source]
Homage variant cover by Phil Noto.
--
Now, my opinions? Cantwell is controversial AF. Tony stans know that, and I'm sure they're not happy to see him back at writing the character. I like his Doom run, except for the ending when he goes full genocide (even with the excuse that he wasn't aware of that because of his clouded emotions). As to Stephen... I'll wait and see. Maybe the run will be more focused on Thanos than the other characters. I don't know. I'm happy to see the doctor trio and Hulk, but also... I dread a little bit.

Idea for a MonsterVerse x MCU x Transformers au
(Did you know that some Godzilla and Transformers comics were written by Marvel? Godzilla was even in the main Marvel comics)
Monarch is founded before Shield and are basically rival organizations that hate each other’s guts. Monarch deals with Titans, while Shield deals with everything else.
Kong: Skull Island takes place and Monarch begins Monitoring Kong.
In the 80’s, the Autobots and Decepticons wake up from their millions of years slumber. The Autobots find a young Sam Witwicky and team up with him, Shield takes notes of Sam and the Transformers and they recruit Sam into a new division of Shield dedicated to Transformers called NEST.
Captain Marvel happens.
The MCU films from Iron Man to Thor, Tony discovers stolen Monarch technology that his dad stole from Monarch, it contains information on Titans.
The events of Godzilla happen earlier during Fury’s big week. Now Fury has Godzilla on his radar.
The Transformers are very interested in Godzilla and the other Titans like Kong. The Autobots want them as allies. While the Decepticons want to control them to take over Earth.
The Avengers happens, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee join with the rest of the Avengers. Godzilla senses the power of the Tesseract and he heads towards New York to investigate. He helps the Avengers take out the Chitauri, and becomes an Avenger. He sticks around after the battle since Optimus and Captain America somehow convinced him to stay.
Years later, Ant-Man jokes that he could shrink down Godzilla.
In Age of Ultron, some Autobots are affected by Ultron and Ultron teams up with Megatron, so the Avengers and the Autobots fight Ultron together.
In Civil War, Transformers aren’t involved and don’t pick a side.
Vulture has combined Chitauri and Transformer tech, but Peter still stops him, he runs into Hot Rod along the way.
Infinity War happens and Godzilla rushes to Wakanda to fight Thanos. Hot Rod goes with Peter to space. Thanos still wins since he held Godzilla with the power stone. Many Transformers are dusted, but Optimus and Bumblebee survive. Hot Rod doesn’t, Godzilla and Kong aren’t dusted.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters happens one year after the snap, Tony tries to help Monarch with Godzilla.
Godzilla vs Kong happens before the Time Heist. Some Transformer parts are used in MechaGodzilla’s creation.
The Time Heist happens and in the final battle all the Autobots, Avengers, Godzilla, and Kong fight Thanos together and Tony snaps his fingers.
Every other movie happens and the Transformers help with displaced blipped people.
Godzilla x Kong happens and Ant-Man helps along with Wheeljack. Ant-Man helps Mothra calm down Godzilla and Scott fist bumps Kong. Scott helps defeat Skar King and shrinks him down after Shimo is freed from Skar King’s grasp. Kong crushes Skar King under his foot.

Lucid Dreaming
https://archiveofourown.org/works/49505500 by niniblack Peter has a recurring nightmare about being locked up. There’s probably some psychological reason for it, and he tries not to dwell on it. He’s busy being chased by the villain of the week, dealing with scrounging up enough money to pay the rent on his shitty apartment, and hanging around outside the donut shop where MJ works, trying not to look like a creep when he checks up on her. Until he falls asleep, and doesn’t wake up again. Until he falls asleep, and Tony breaks into the room where he’s locked up to rescue him. - - - Or, Peter was kidnapped shortly after Endgame by Quentin Beck, and he’s spent the past year and a half trapped in a series of illusions. Is everything that happened since the Battle Against Thanos real, or just an elaborate storyline Beck played out for his own amusement, with Peter as his personal puppet? Are Tony and May really alive, or is this just a dream? How is Peter supposed to tell what’s real and what’s fake when everything seems too good to be true? Avengers Comics vs Justice League Comics
Tumblr media
With their different abilities and personalities, DC was able to form their own team of heroes first "Justice League" in 1960, 3 full years before the formation of Marvel team "Avengers".
Team Dynamics:
Justice League: The Justice League is often depicted as a more formal and structured team, with its members frequently seen as the world's greatest heroes. They work together to tackle cosmic threats and protect the entire DC Universe. Avengers: The Avengers are often portrayed as a more diverse and sometimes contentious group. Their roster has changed frequently over the years, and they often face internal conflicts while dealing with both global and cosmic threats.
Leadership:
Justice League: The Justice League traditionally has a rotating leadership, with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and others taking charge at various times. Avengers: Captain America (Steve Rogers) is often seen as the natural leader of the Avengers, with Iron Man occasionally taking up the role as well.
Villains:
Justice League: The Justice League faces a wide range of iconic villains, including Darkseid, Lex Luthor, and the Joker, as well as cosmic threats like Brainiac and the Anti-Monitor. Avengers: The Avengers have a rogues' gallery that includes villains like Thanos, Ultron, and Kang the Conqueror. They also deal with threats from within their own ranks at times.
Popularity:
Justice League: The Justice League has a strong following and is a cornerstone of DC Comics. They have been featured in various animated series, films, and video games. Avengers: The Avengers have gained immense popularity in recent years, especially with the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which has catapulted them to the forefront of mainstream pop culture.

Part of the MCU's storytelling problems stem from the fact everything takes place in the same universe.  Endings are left open to lead into the next project.  And because it's gone on for so long we're seeing issues with continuity to the point that there's retconning and character derailment.  One of Endgame's issues was that it was an ending that wasn't; the MCU was still going to continue afterwards.
Instead of having Tony make the ultimate sacrifice and giving Steve….that ending, ALL of the Avengers and their allies share the Stones' power together and defeat Thanos.  No one has to die.  (And while we're at it, find some other way to get the Soul Stone so Natasha doesn't have to sacrifice herself).  Tony can retire from being Iron Man and settle down with his family, Steve can still pass the shield on to Sam but stay in the present, all the Avengers live...And that's that.  Avengers: Endgame concludes Phase 3.
Phase 4 should have been mostly just tying up loose ends from the previous phases.  A few ideas:
Dr. Strange vs. Mordo
Captain Marvel vs. The Kree
Spider-Man's fifth and final contracted MCU appearance be moved from Phase 3 to Phase 4 and would wrap up his arc properly with none of the tug of war between Disney and Sony.
The Black Widow movie can still happen pretty much as we saw it (with just a few minor story adjustments, that movie could have easily taken place after Endgame).
Captain America starring Sam, with Bucky as a sidekick.  Maybe even have Natasha and Yelena join them and/or a non-derailed Sharon Carter (who's an ally not the big bad).
Phase 4 can conclude with the multiverse.  Maybe have Wanda discover that Vision is alive in one universe, Pietro's alive in another, and she ends up breaking the multiverse trying to bring them together and Strange and some other heroes try to stop her and fix what she’s done.
Now that the multiverse is confirmed, Phase 5 could take place in one of those other universes.  That is, Phase 5 would be a rebooted MCU.  Here we can introduce the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Eternals, etc. and not worry about continuity issues with the previous phases.  Plus it would still allow actors to return for their roles if they wanted to, they'd just be playing different versions of themselves.
There's nothing wrong continuing the MCU itself.  The problem is continuing in its current continuity.  It needs a reboot.  This will prevent established characters from getting derailed and new characters and storylines won’t be held back by what came before.

I kinda wish the films between AOU and WandaVision had allowed Wanda to use her telepathy more. Mantis vs. the Beverly Hills cops in the GOTG Holiday Special gave me the idea. 😂 So did this IW rewrite where Thanos is subdued through a tag team effort of Rhodey, Steve, Stephen, Vision, and Wanda.
The ideas I can come up with as to how this telepathy could've been used:
* CACW: Have Steve bring her to Bucharest and keep her in the shadows as a last resort if Bucky needs to be contained. When the tactical teams assault the hideout, Wanda dispatches some of them with telekinesis, and others by getting up close, trading a few punches, and then using telepathy to put them to sleep. Maybe Wanda does something similar to freeze the Winter Soldier programming when Zemo activates Bucky's programming in the holding cell.
* EG: Have Wanda use her telepathy to confuse Thanos while Tony is transferring the stones from Thanos' gauntlet to his Iron Man armor, which would actually make Thanos realizing he's stoneless make more sense (the revelatory shot of the empty gauntlet only works from the audience's point of view. From his angle, Thanos should have been very clearly able to see that the sockets were empty).
Wanda and Bucky having scenes together and her using her telepathy with him? Yes please, gimme, where do I sign?!!! 😜
I really like your ideas, it would have worked really well. Wanda had such a power-up for her series that going back to previous movies she's still pretty magnificent, especially in EG (I love how scared Thanos was, ha! suck on that purple grape!), but she was so underutilized.
And omg that rewrite is PERFECT!!!!! Love it, love it, thank you for sharing, I would trade IW for that in an instant.
