looking at pics my sis sent of my parents together on our family excursions to new york and remembering how my dad was basically on the verge of death without us even knowing but i had a feeling cause idk it’s the nurse in me so i literally physically forced him to the doctor and he almost died but didn’t and then my family then had to physically force him to the hospital by calling police at 3am in the morning cause he wasn’t in his right mind and then all of our lives changed forever and he had 2 strokes and his kidneys failed when i was saying that sh*t all along but nobody believed me (note that once again im a MSN ICU nurse and nursing professor) all the while going through my own illness in which they wanted me to get blood transfusions but i opted for iron transfusions instead and now he’s (and I) are better but there literally is a part of last year when he was sick that i don’t remember because of all the trauma if gave me.

i’m thankful for everyone who stuck by me and let me cry on their shoulder tho cause mannn i needed that and i’m blessed to have gotten it!! even now 🥹

Hello, how are you? I hope you are doing fine. I want to ask your opinion, but before that, I want to inform you that I don't have any intention of hating anyone. I only want to know what you think of this.

It's clear that Neymar is back with Bruna B nowadays because he's been wearing a ring on his left hand. I want to know your thoughts about their relationship.

And since I asked your opinion, may I also put mine?

Idk why, but tbh, It feels not right. About they're getting back together. And for the nth time, I don't try to gain or spread hatred here. I only really want to know your opinion.

Because for me, Ney and BB seem fake their love(?) It just seems off and strange in some way(?) Idk how to explain this.

A few times, I really wish for Ney to get back together with Carol because she looks more genuine, elegant and not an attention seeker. But we also know how this is ridiculously dumb since Carol is already married and have a wonderful family.

With BB, I think Ney's sex needs are fulfilled. While BB gets fame and money. Thus, he's known for his unconditional love for Marq back then. And I know that maybe I'm being delusional, but if you take a better look, BB is trying hard to look like BM and this is really not right. BB used to be pretty by looking like herself, she used to look pretty in her old Instagram-tagged photos. But recently, her filler and surgery are too much till really overwhelmed and fake at some points.

I just hope if they're faking their relationship just because they're used to being like this, I hope they will be separated for both own goods.

I really wish for Ney to be settled in his own family, built by the foundation of love and values, within people who treasure and value him as Neymar da Silva Santos Jr, not only for getting into his money/fame/else like his present environment.

When he said Messi is his idol, somehow I wish for him to learn from Messi. Not only in terms of football but also in a life lesson.

So he can choose a better circle who really value him as a friend and not only to dip into some of his fame. Hahah. I also hope to see him getting married, to someone that is not an attention seeker, the one who's like Carol/Anto, and seeing MSN having a good holiday together. LOL

Because sometimes, it's just sad you know to be him.

One time he was that good. He's guaranteed as a future player in his prime for the talent he had, but in an instant, he ruined it by moving into another club for money. Right now, not only his career in football that is ruined but his love life is also ruined. As if everything is never right, from having a greedy father to having an "I'm sorry" quite fake fiancée. Even for friends, the only genuine is some of his National Team, Messi, Suarez, some of his mate in Barca, Paredes, Veratti, and some in PSG.

I don't know whether he's aware or not but sometimes, I saw him realise this fake and failed world around him, but in the end, since this is the life he used to live, he's okay with that since getting used to it.

I read on some website, that during his last surgery, BB left him for Brazil since she also has a life and dogs that need to be taken care of, so Nadine is the one who takes care of him and Ney also paid for BB's father's taxes(?) IDK if it's real or not. I know that I don't have any rights to this matter. It's just sometimes, all of this feels unfair. Hehe

Lastly, I hope we all can take a neutral opinion on this. I have no intention of hating anyone here. I only want to know the thought of some other Neymar fans.

look, everything is fine! stay calm! here is a safe place for everyone, as long as it is not to spread hatred or any other feeling close to that. and i don't care how big the ask is!

i guess i'll have to apologize to you, because i probably won't be able to give the answer i'd like. it may sound ironic, but i hardly follow ney's dating b.b., i basically only see some news when they are everywhere (example: this supposed pregnancy), so i don't feel i have enough repertoire to have an opinion about their relationship.

life is much more than photos on insta or news in tabloids, so I have no way to affirm if what they have is true since I'm not present in their intimate moments or daily routine.

about carol, i particularly love the fact that both she and ney managed to have the maturity to form a family even without being a couple thinking about davi's well being. they are friends, they are a family and they work well that way!

and obviously, i would love for MSN to spend their vacations together, to have "a similar social life", that they could fill us with pictures with their children and wives, but i think it is also important to understand that this is a decision that is up to neymar himself. i also don't like his father, i believe that many bad decisions that ney made were due to his father's influence, but he is already a grown man and it's time to take the reins of his own life.

this is probably not the answer you would like, i apologize for that, by the way! but my point is, as much as ney has leo in his life and gets good advice, as much as he has us, his fans, trying to protect him, he is a 31 year old man. he is not a child anymore. he has to start deciding which people are good for him.

Currently thinking about why Elend is my least favorite character

It’s not that I hate him, he’s a perfectly serviceable character. He’s a good man, a good leader, a good soldier, and now a good Mistborn. Which,, hnng. He just lacks depth imo

He did kind of have depth in The Final Empire. When he was introduced as a disheveled nobleman, a scholar and a quiet rebel within his own society. I’ll admit I didn’t love him much then either, but that was more to do with his role in the story lol. I’m a certified Romance Hater in my fiction, so honestly I think Elend was doomed from the start in some respects XD

But by the end of The Well of Ascension, Elend is just,, good at everything. He’s noble, he’s stands up for himself, and now he’s got incredible Mistborn powers to boot. In short, he’s boring!! Incredibly boring! There’s no conflict of personality traits here and I’m mad about it!

Look at Vin, who began as a scared little girl hiding an inner strength. Who is now vicious and blunt and struggles with the weight of the responsibility she’s found herself with. Or Ham, the straightforward soldier who constantly prods at philosophy. Or Sazed, a seemingly quiet scholar with a quick wit and hidden rebelliousness. Breeze claims to be a manipulative bastard, but we know him to be a good msn deep down. Clubs was gnarled and grumpy, but there was a softness to him too, deep down. Dockson was calm and ever practical, but secretly just as insane as everyone else. Kelsier was a dreamer, a laugher, and so incredibly ruthless

I just,, he should have stayed a scholar. The ideas man. Fascinated with unraveling the mysteries the crew finds over the course of the plot, philosophizing with Ham, brilliant and emotionally intelligent and still doesn’t know what a hairbrush is. He’s their dreamer. Their unhinged genius running off of five cups of coffee and no sleep. He comes up with harebrained schemes and Vin goes “yeah I can pull that off” and then she does. That would make him about 500x more interesting in my book, it gives him the personality tension he lacks! He’s the kind of character who should be poised and well spoken, and instead his veins are made of caffeine, his hair is a mess, and it’s a small miracle his sentences are coherent

You could even still let him have Mistborn powers, if you really wanted too. Let Vin take the focus on iron and steel, the first things Kelsier taught her. Then let Elend do the emotional stuff. Taking the edge off the idea that his plans are utterly insane, and encouraging a little bit more reckless confidence in the crew. Kelsier might be gone, but he left a legacy in the two people he saved. Vin is his skill in allomancy, his power, his recklessness, his love. Elend is his dreams, his plans, his ability to engage a crowd. She’s got practical street smarts, he’s book smart. He says “my research says X is sound” and she says “okay” and filters it through a layer of practical experience on the streets so it can be pulled off.

Also axe relationship with Vin. Just let them be ride or die besties! Siblings! Platonic soulmates! Two peas in a pod, but not in love. They’d be way more interesting that way imo and tbh Vin needs regular friends her own age lol

An older friend in high school sent me Adios by Rammstein on MSN Messenger. And after that, Der Meister. As for Iron Maiden, I think I stumbled into Fear of The Dark or The Trooper because I have seen t-shirts on people at school.

Hm…As far ad Rammstein goes I have to say Rosenrot, even if it has some of my all time favourites by them. As for Iron Maiden, I’ll have to say The X Factor. I have never even listened to it properly. 😂

Black businesses face uphill battle after reverse racism ruling from Trump-appointed judge

“We should really look at these as the pushback against Black economic progress,” says Patrice Willoughby, senior vice president of global policy and impact at NAACP.

The latest set back came by a ruling from Judge Mark Pittman that ordered the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) to no longer consider race or ethnicity when deploying its services to U.S. small businesses. 

“This is not one attack, but it’s a series of attacks on the measures that the federal government has put in place to remedy,” Patrice Willoughby, senior vice president of global policy and impact the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, told theGrio.

In other words, the judge argued the agency violated the constitutional rights of white business owners.

“While the agency’s work may help alleviate opportunity gaps faced by MBEs (minority business owners), two wrongs do not make a right,” Pittman wrote in his ruling.

Elected officials and advocates are decrying the federal court ruling, blaming a movement led by conservatives and affirmed by Republican-appointed judges that is undoing decades-long efforts to right historic wrongs that have afflicted Black and brown communities. The MBDA ruling, proponents fear, could further exacerbate existing racial disparities in ownership and wealth.

“We should really look at these as the pushback against Black economic progress,” said Willoughby, a former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus. “It’s very clear that, because discrimination continues to exist, these programs are still needed.” 

The mission of the Minority Business Development Agency is to promote the growth and competitiveness of U.S. minority-owned businesses. MBDA provides minority business owners access to capital, contracts and consulting services. Ironically, the agency was established by Republican President Richard Nixon in 1969. Under President Joe Biden, a Democrat, it became a permanent agency under federal law that expanded its reach across the country.

“We’ve seen 16 million applications that were started under this administration over the past three years, which is important,” the Biden spokesperson shared. “There was certainly a boost … with minority businesses starting their small businesses.”

Now that MBDA will be required by law to open its programs to white business owners, experts fear it would lead to already existing patterns of implicit or explicit racial bias and further exacerbate the racial wealth gap.

“What you will have is essentially people do business with people they like,” Willoughby explained. “They want to drive visibility for who is able to benefit underground so that there’s no oversight, no regulation, and there’s no assistance more broadly, with respect to DEI.”

Samantha Tweedy, CEO of the Black Economic Alliance, said the judge’s ruling would “result in an MBDA unable to support diverse business owners navigating an economic system that research shows is riddled with racial bias.” 

“We know that is the goal of many who seek to claw back the pathways to economic progress open to the Black community,” said Tweedy, who called on Congress and the White House to “step in to protect the vital role of the MBDA.”

To date, “reverse racism” rulings that undo race-specific programs aimed at remedying racial disparities have hit college campuses, businesses, and even Black farmers. Conservative activists have largely filed these cases, including millionaire Edward Blum, who was behind the affirmative action case before the Supreme Court. Blum is also behind a pending lawsuit against the Black female-owned Fearless Fund, arguing that its program designed to boost funding for Black women entrepreneurs is discriminatory against white-owned businesses. 

“You remove the legal framework that allows them to challenge discrimination,” Willoughby explained about the growing number of legal challenges against DEI. She said success in courts “emboldens the opponents of equity” and turns back the clock on racial progress.

“Essentially, [they] are trying to return America to what these opponents referred to as the good old days, but really were a white supremacist framework,” noted Willoughby, “which Black businesses and people of color really had very little access to the benefits of this country that other people have enjoyed.”

According to a February 2024 report by the Brookings Institution, while Black businesses saw consecutive growth between 2017 and 2021, the number of Black-owned employer firms remains disproportionate to the number of Blacks living in the United States. In 2021, Black Americans represented only 2.7% of employers despite making up 14.4% of the population. Closing that gap, the report argues, would boost the U.S. economy and create thousands more jobs.

Looking ahead at combating the legal setbacks on DEI-related programs, Willoughby told theGrio that policymakers, researchers and litigants will have to double down on data collection and advocacy. Proponents of DEI programs will have to make “better arguments in the courts” and “firmer justification for the existence of any remedy where race is a linked with disadvantage.”

“It’s going to become a lot more important to collect the data, to document the discrimination, and to prove that the disadvantage is directly linked to race,” she said.

The current legal setbacks also reflect the fact that elections have consequences. In addition to Pittman being appointed to his judgeship by Trump, so were the three Supreme Court justices who joined the majority to strike down race-based affirmative action.

“Now that court, which is hostile to issues involving race and racial remedies, will be in operation for the next decade,” Willoughby said. 

“Voting is connected to Black progress,” she added. “Even if you are feeling disconnected, you still have to look at who has your interests at heart and vote with your pocketbook to identify the candidates that are going to shore up your participation in the economic system.”

When Mastodon Met Threads 🐘➕🧵🟰❓

It has started:

Mark Zuckerberg announced social network Threads will be starting its activity pub interoperability testing now. 🔗

I have been saying for a very long while now that ActivityPub as a protocol and within it Mastodon as the flagship app need to separate themselves from the fringe in order to gain more traction and usage.

Understand that ActivityPub itself is a protocol not unlike IMAP and HTTP under the W3C. Just like email doesn’t rely on any one server to transport mail traffic across the Internet, By using ActivityPub social media can enjoy the same freedom and transparency. I shouldn’t have to join every single social media and existence to get a complete picture of what everyone is up to… we actually had this about 20 something years ago when the then biggest part of the fledgling social media universe decided to use XMPP as a standard to federate their instant messenger networks. What that meant was my ICQ handle was able to contact all my friends on AOL instant messenger and MSN without having to do anything strange. Ironically it was Facebook that broke this paradigm when they took Facebook messenger behind closed doors in order to add all the functionality that it has now.

OK, but you know Meta ain’t doin’ this outta the kindness of their hearts, right? 😒

It should not be forgotten that the reason why this is probably happening is because of the very strict policies that the European Union has imposed on how companies operate on the open Internet. It’s far easier for Mattar, the company that owns Facebook to create this new net work and design it from the start with open standards and then slowly bring everything over to it, rather than having to bolt on the same functionality to Facebook or Instagram as it stands now. While it may be seen as a self-serving move on their behalf, I personally welcome it because it means suddenly it might be one less thing to have to join and maintain in order to still be a part of the social media landscape.

Imagine a world where people on TikTok can communicate with people on YouTube and people on twitch. It might sound kind of strange at first but the same is already happening here in the #fediverse with Mastodon , PeerTube, and WordPress.

This integration is happening methodically and with a lot of advice from all stakeholders it appears; Threads users are going to get a window into the fediverse soon; as I type this, some accounts are getting read-only access. Evan Prodromou, one of the founding architects of the very underpinnings of ActivityPub  (@[email protected] and @[email protected]) has been able to talk to the team over at Meta in charge of this undertaking along with a host of others in the #indieweb realm. Believe me when I say, these discussions got into the weeds and no stone was left untouched according to most of the attendees. This is the part that makes me feel Meta is acting in good faith.

Will everyone be OK with federation though?

It’s very easy to say “I’m not going to federate with Threads” or “I don’t want to associate with those Mastodon loons” (posts I won’t link to here, but use the appropriate search technique and you will find them in short order). The point is being missed insofar as the networks being interoperable if nothing else for the sake of creating a new standard and influencing the wider internet to “de-silo” all this content is a good thing and needs to be encouraged, not shunned.

As of this writing, there are no official timelines on when any of this will go into effect for us, but I have my educated guesses that it will coincide with the opening of Threads.net to EU signups and the move to be a federated network should keep regulators over there from breaking out the ban hammer. That’s supposed to be in a few days so we’ll see.

What a Week!

In other news, the US House of Representatives held a vote to see if Jim Jordan (R-OH) could win the position of Speaker. Jordan, a member of Trump’s ironically named Freedom Caucus, fell far short (MSN). So the Honorable Representatives are taking the weekend off. They will come back on Monday, hopefully with a solution to this embarrassing and extremely untimely pause in doing their job.…
