For the thinker, as for the artist, what counts in life is not the number of rare and exciting adventures he encounters, but the inner depth in that life, by which something great may be made out of even the paltriest and most banal of occurrences.

IRRATIONAL MAN- 2015 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Abe (Joaquin Pheonix) is a troubled philosophy teacher going through an existential crisis. Jill (Emma Stone) is a bright young student in his class. They begin a friendship that turns into a romance. One day they overhear a stranger talking about a crooked judge that threatens to separate her from her children. Abe conspires to murder the judge which gives him a new lease on life....
Really enjoyed this movie. Great story, some very funny moments and great performances from both leads. Enjoyed the chemistry between them and Abe eventually getting carried away with himself. Irrational Man at points reminded me of "Match Point", also directed by Woody Allen and also based on Crime and Punishment.
Its also the next stop on Parker Posey Palooza!
Parker plays Rita, a teacher at Abe's school who seduces him. As always, she crushes it. Looking good Parker.

Recently Watched: Irrational Man (2015)
This came up on a recently added list on HBO Max or Hulu, I don't remember now. Maybe both. I was pleasantly surprised. Joaquin Phoenix is always a gem and his quirky neuroticism would also probably charm the fuck out of me. Emma Stone's character sometimes seemed off putting, but it was probably a projection of sorts. Over all, I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best, it definitely not anywhere near the worst I've ever seen.

cass cain is so emotive and I hate that so many of yall fall straight into the stoic asian woman stereotype thing because like, the only reason cass wouldn't vocalize a feeling is when she would struggle to find the word for it because she literally wasn't taught how to speak. that's so fucking upsetting. She has such big beautiful emotions, she feels so deeply about the littlest things but everytime she has trouble putting it into words she's reminded that she was conceived not to. her abuser did not have her feelings or her pain in mind, only how well she could end a life. can you fucking imagine
