A paper about Irritator's funky pelican like jaws is released.
Me: Goes absolutely insane.
This dinosaur is the only thing I've been able to draw recently. Hope you enjoy my many sketches. :p
Have some extras~

A new paper came out redescribing the skull of Irritator challengeri based on new CT scans and it included a front-view reconstruction so,,, my choice here was clear.
Dinosaurs look absolutely wonderful from the front they are so dumb looking I love it.

Spinosaurids!! It’s more than likely this is a post of several different Baryonyxes, Spinosauruses, and 1 (One) Suchomimus. But here’s the intended species
Spinosaurus - Irritator - Suchomimus
Ichthyovenator - Baryonyx - Siamosaurus
Oxalaia - Ceratosuchops - Iberospinus
Not pictured bc it won’t lemme upload 3 more:
Sigilmassasaurus - Riparovenator - Vaillabonaventrix

Paleovember 2023, Irritator challengeri !
Hailing from Brazil during the Early Cretaceous, this spinosaurid's name derives from the fact that it's nearly complete skull had been heavily damaged and altered by the collectors who found it (along with a reference to Professor Challenger in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. ). Based on the remains we do have, Irritator leans on the smaller side for spinosaurids, estimated to be between 20 to 26 feet long. At the same time, though, the specimen was found to be a juvenile, so it potentially grew to be much larger as an adult.

Thank you so much for your very many insightful and educational posts! Do you have any feelings/thoughts/fun facts about Irritator? It's one of my favorite dinosaurs ^^
apparently it could spread its lower jaws in order to scoop up food
pelicans have officially been outdone and it's terrifying
like what the *actual* fuck

Ive been practicing a more painterly art style so heres one of the first experiments i did im sort of happy with! Its supposed to be an albino irritator but tbh it could be any spinosaurid, it did also came out looking maybe a bit too crocodilian

Repostober Day 25
The final of the Starter Lines, This one probably gave me the most trouble when designing. I initially had a theme of 'major archosaur radiations' and had a Phytosaur fakemon as the Water Starter, to represent the radiation of pseudosuchia, but I never liked any of the designs I came up with for the final stage. I then tried to just go for 'major prehistoric groups' with a mosasaur fakemon, but couldn't get a concept down with that either. In the end I decided just to go for full self indugence and make the water line a Spinosaur. I don't care if 66% of my Starters are dinosaurs, they all look good together and that's what matters.
Irritot - Water
(Irritator + Tot)
Suchensnare - Water/Fighting
(Suchomimus + Ensnare)
Spinautical - Water/Fighting
(Spinosaurus + Nautical)

Irritator was a medium sized theropod from the early Cretaceous period (113-110 Mya) of what is now Brazil. The name "Irritator" comes from the feelings of authors and Paleontologists trying to study the holotype skull after it had been damaged and modified by collectors. Irritator is only known from the partial skull recovered from collectors, for now the body is pure speculation based on its close relatives such as Baryonyx and Suchomimus. Studies on the skull have revealed that its lower jaw widened when opened, comparable to that of a pelican, likely used to swallow large portions of food whole.
