#is Minato stronger than kakashi

While the interpretation of Minato as a bit of a bastard will always be close to my heart, I think if you need a positive reading of him, I'd argue for an orphan who's sensei is a loud and passionate guy and the love of his life is a loud and passionate lady and so he just... never really learnt how to confront the people he cared about. Hell, maybe he never felt secure enough to with his sensei always running off and disappearing, or maybe he was just an even-tempered kind of guy. For most of his life, it's a benefit: he's a Hokage beloved by all.
But it also means that when Kushina wants to have a child with him, he doesn't really know how to say no. And he does want to say no. He just got two of his kids killed and is dealing with the sinking realization that he fucked up the third. He hasn't really even figured out how to grieve yet.
In his head, though, he dated and married Kushina knowing she wanted kids—a family. He doesn't wanna be the guy to then say 'actually I decided i'm not really for kids now! psyche!' so he feels like he can't reject her. (even though Kushina would have understood! if he'd asked!)
So he goes along with it. They have the kid.
But the whole time Minato struggles to see the child as his as opposed to Kushina's child. So when Kushina's fate is sealed and Minato sees the future of trying to raise and definitely fucking up Kushina's child, he crumbles. Then he sees a technically defensible way to die without betraying Kushina. It's his only chance. He grabs it. Hiruzen would definitely be a better guardian for the kids than him, anyway, right? All three Sannin were at least alive. Weird, sure, but alive.
And that's why he feels so... odd? detached? when he's undeadified. He doesn't quite feel like Naruto is his son. And why he barely seems able to look Kakashi and Obito in the eye: how can he, when he's failed every kid he's ever been put in charge of? He cares-he's visibly somber-but again, this is a Negative Situation and confrontation isn't his strong suit. So, even with his brief second chance, he passes on again without ever, in his entire life, really getting upset.

Putting some respect on my man Kakashi’s name.
It’s canon that while the sharingan had its advantages it was a huge drain on Kakashi.
It’s also stated in his book that he got stronger than his war arc self, being able to hold a mud wall jutsu on his own for three days. A feat that was so impressive the enemy shinobi he faced believed he HAD to be multiple people to manage it.

How Kakashi's mental health negatively effected his strength and why he was getting stronger and stronger throughout the story.
Have you ever wondered why Tsunade was surprised that Itachi defeated Kakashi and was so angry that she scolded him for losing?
Tumblr media
That's because Tsunade personally knowing Kakashi's power level as a Shinobi and that he shouldn't have lost that fight ... Then what happened?!.
Aside from the things I explained in the second half of this post, Kakashi was actually rusty, after Hiruzen got him out of Anbu and before he gets team 7, Kakashi's mental health was at it's lowest, he lost the Anbu missions which despite not being good for him and was actually making his depression worse, it's was the only thing that was keeping him busy, so now he had too much free time, he was failing all of the students he got and apparently he wasn't being sent to S or A ranked missions and according to his own statements he stopped training too
Tumblr media
And here in his fight with Zabuza he states that it has been so long since he had a fight like this
Tumblr media
And here he once again confirms that he hasn't had a fight like this since he left Anbu
Tumblr media
Now, remember when Kakashi was teaching team 7 to walk on trees and was explaining chakra control? Kakashi explained that the physical AND mental energies combine to form chakra.
Tumblr media
And this is why having a bad mental health can effect the Shinobi's overall strength greatly.
Then Kakashi gets team 7 and slowly things starts to get better gradually especially in Shippuden when he tells Naruto this
Tumblr media
And then he got to meet his father and forgive him and know that because of it his father too can now move on and can finally join his mother.
Tumblr media
And then during the war he got the chance to properly say goodbye to Rin, Obito and Minato and then later they even get Sasuke back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He finally gets to move on.. even the Sharingan that was a constant reminder of his pain and failures was gone. When he says "As of today Kakashi of The Sharingan is no more" it holds a much more deeper meaning than just losing the Sharingan. "Kakashi of the Sharingan" was the man who had the weight of the whole world on his shoulders, who was always burdened by his guilt, his failures and everything he lost, that sad broken man who used to be called "Kakashi of the Sharingan" is no more. The new Kakashi gets to have a new beginning with all of the friends and precious people he still has, who has filled the hole in his heart, in a new era of peace, the peace that they all fought so hard to get and now they finally have. And this is why Hokage Kakashi is much much more stronger than he ever was. The current Kakashi has a perfect mental energy combined with a perfect physical energy (especially after losing the chakra drain of the Sharingan and the great toll it used to put on his body) and he is even training and learning so many new powerful Jutsu and inventing new ones like it's stated in Kakashi Retsuden. The new Kakashi finally gets to use his full potentials without all the emotional baggage that used to hold him back 🥺❤️

Headcanon: Obito gets violently sick whenever he has a crush bc he's an Uchiha and feels everything way more intense
So. Uchiha feel emotions way more intense than non-Uchiha, yes?
Imagine Obito, who doesn't really have any friends but is desperate to be included, hearing the other kids talk about their little puppy-crushes. About feeling butterflies in your stomach and getting dizzy and nervous, all that jazz.
Then, enter Rin. Who's the first person to go out of her way to hang out with Obito and befriends him and gets to know him. And him, being so deprived of social interactions with kids his age, immediately latches onto her and they become besties-
And then he notices that his heart starts pounding and he gets butterflies whenever he's around Rin, and he just thinks to himself "Is this??? A Crush????" Since, y'know. He's got absolutely no reference to go off of and know the difference between friends and crushes.
What I'm saying is: Obito has no idea what having a friend feels like and is operating purely on what he heard other kids describe crushes to be like.
Years later he's slowly making friends with the other kids at the academy and has more experience on what having friends feels like, and he's cONFUSED as hell, because why the fuck does he get butterflies when he's hanging out with Asuma and Kurenai or sparring with Guy??!!
So he asks his Grandma what that's all about, and she just goes
"Well, you're an Uchiha, and we Uchiha are known to experience emotions about 10x more intense than others. What feels like a 'crush' to other kids is just what 'friendship' feels like to an Uchiha. I assure you, you'll know the difference when you truly develop feelings :)"
And Obito just thinks she's trying to comfort him because "No way that's true, how can my feelings get any stronger than this?!"
...flash forward to him, Rin and Kakashi being placed on Team Minato, and Obito realizing that Grandma was right when the sound of Kakashi's voice is enough to make him violently throw up
Turns out that those feelings could get stronger. A LOT stronger.
His friendship with Rin gives him comforting butterflies and a warm fuzzy feel up his spine that makes him smile for days.
Meanwhile, his rivalry (ITS NOT LOVE, IT'S NOT LOVE!!) with Kakashi makes him physically ill. Obito doesn't just feel warm and fuzzy when chatting (arguing) with Kakashi, he actually gets a fucking fever. Obito doesn't get comforting butterflies when he's around Kakashi, he gets violently sick to the point where he throws up whenever Kakashi so much as breathes in his direction.
And the worst part is: everyone knows what's wrong ("wrong") with Obito, literally everyone.
Everyone, EXCEPT FOR KAKASHI
One moment Obito is chatting with Asuma and Genma, he's completely fine and feels great! ....then Kakashi comes up to them (making sure he gets to the training grounds on time, lol). He doesn't even get a single word in before Obito goes pale, then,
"Obito-"
Hearing Kakashi say his name is enough to make him throw up into the nearest trashcan
Genma volunteers to help Obito get cleaned up, if only to escape the scene
Kakashi, watching them trott off: Tsk. Why doesn't he just go to the doctor already?
Asuma: ...
Asuma: Uhm. How long has he been... sick?
Kakashi: It's been like this for weeks. I honestly don't get why Minato Sensei has me go out of my way to fetch Obito every day when he's clearly too ill to be of any use during training.
Asuma: ...yea that's odd
Asuma, internally: kakashi how dense are you

more on reborn au au (au squared) obito. technically includes plasticity spoilers?
okay so my goal in plasticity is NOT to "redeem" anyone or have anyone change their personal goals. so obito reincarnates and he still wants his moon's eye plan but also he is a little baby. i think i'll let both him and itachi keep their magic eyeballs but they don't have enough chakra to actually DO much with them until they're older (i guess like 12-13 bc that's when itachi was an ANBU captain, but it seems like neither of them should be able to be casually spamming mangekyou until they're adults)
however i think obito is uuuuuh easily distracted. like he can make a convoluted plan and carry it out-- he IS an uchiha thank you very much-- but also he's going to get sidetracked by just doing random shit for the lulz. this is why in canon he spends months harassing deidara for no reason. so he determines he must put his evil plans on hold for an indeterminate amount of time and WAIT A SECOND he hang out with rin now!!!!
i think he'd actually be very frustrated with trying to maintain a friendship with rin? like he put her on the HIGHEST pedestal but at the end of the day, she's a normal young girl. she's sweet to him but she's not as interesting as he remembers and she's a kid so she makes mistakes and also, obito is kind of insane and all of his peers Sense This about him. so he likes checking on her and doing short social activities with her, but he's not having hours long heart-to-hearts with her anymore. they're not as close. also if anything happens to rin obito will kill everyone in konoha and then himself
obito is kind of like "whatever, i'll be a genius this time around, that looked fucking fantastic for kakashi" so he attempts to be A Genius but it turns out if you're better than everyone else your age, adults expect you to..... do things?? obito is his own boss he doesn't just DO things smh. so he sets up this weird dynamic where he get lauded by his family but his family is also like uuuuh why aren't you graduating early??? BUT BECAUSE RIN IS THERE AND HE NEEDS TO LOOK AT HER
also, incredibly annoyingly, kakashi can still beat him sometimes because kakashi is a weird genetic freak. instead of just continually kicking his ass obito has just put more pressure on him to get stronger. horrible
konoha gives obito to minato and is like: there is something deeply unhinged about this kid but he had a sharingan at 8 so. do something with that. and unfortunately minato trying very earnestly to mentor obito is sort of endearing, and obito didn't realize the first time around how many strings minato pulled to get rin into medic-nin training and keep them off the frontlines as much as possible and obito..... will let him live this time, maybe.
at some point obito catches wind that danzo is sniffing around kakashi and so he breaks into danzo's home and is like "aaaaw how cute, but kakashi is mine. keep it up and i will kill you <3" and scares the living shit out of danzo. (minato is SUSPICIOUS obito Did Something but this does mean MINATO no longer has to do anything, so he doesn't ask questions)
the minute obito thinks he can use kamui more than once without giving himself chakra exhaustion, he starts poking around internationally. there's no real goal except MAYBE find and kill zetsu and madara, he's just Doing Shit. and in Doing Shit he runs into the Ame Trio and realizes there's more than one reincarnate?
obito: oh.... oh my god
obito: (kamuis directly into three year old itachi's bedroom) HELLO????
itachi: (OH FUCK????)
so i think the obito-itachi relationship is obito realizes he has a sounding board for all the various random shit he's been doing and whining about how his friendship with rin is weird, and also what if he claims kakashi by nonconsensually implanting one of his eyes??? no no, you're right, it's better if obito has two eyes to make up for not being half hashirama cells.
also his presence makes itachi 10x more feral
itachi: if you decide to kill everyone again, you have to give sasuke to me, unharmed. if you don't i will ruin your entire. i will kill you as painfully as i can. this is non-negotiable
obito: whoa whoa whoa little coz!!!
obito: i'd only kill the old people :)
itachi: aaaaah
obito isn't really interested in uchiha massacre 2.0 though. he doesn't care if itachi murders danzo, and he'll eat popcorn while watching but he doesn't offer help. he convinces itachi to swap eyeballs with him for the EMS, but itachi really wants SASUKE to inherit his eyeballs once he's old enough so Obito might have to swap? again? with sasuke?? fine, whatever. this new version of team 7 all think he's bonkers and sometimes walk on extreme eggshells around him, but they're NICE to him and he's not going to fuck that up. minato will ask kakashi and rin to babysit once he has his brat kid, never obito, but obito doesn't really care because it means he has more time to go harass other akatsuki members
and then kakashi is taken hostage (UNFORGIVABLE) and it turns out. there was someone ELSE he could have been bothering this whole time!!!
obito: tori PLEASE join konoha it will be SO FUNNY
obito: anyway excuse me i'm burning down kusa <3 here hold kakashi for me. omg, DEIDARA'S here too??? *_*
someone commenting on obito watching itachi and tori gay chicken (straight chicken?) each other so hard they end up married so i've been debating how his presence affects this dynamic. i think he obviously makes it worse. because he cottons onto itachi's Girl Problems the second they start and he keeps trapping him in social situations and giving him "dating advice." so itachi is even MORE desperate to get a stable girlfriend to get his entire stupid family yo leave him alone
itachi: i'm dating tori. i haven't told her yet
obito: this is
obito, tearing up: the greatest gift you could have given me
also obito supports book club SO HARD and comes to every meeting

Rin was Minato's favourite. he believed she had a lot of potential. being a medic to the team, she was truly important, and was already incredible at keeping them all alive. she would grow up and become even stronger. he knew she was stronger than she let on.
Obito was Minato's second favourite. sharing the same dream of becoming hokage, Minato would be drawn to raising Obito right and ensuring they both became great hokage.
Kushina's favourite was Obito. they, too, shared the same dream of becoming hokage. they got along well, despite all their playful arguing and fighting. Obito was adorable to her, especially whenever he tried to act tough.
Kushina's second favourite was Rin. being a girl, Rin was easy to get along with, too. she was adorable and got along with Obito, but knew when to put her foot down too. she was a kind girl but had been slightly influenced by Kushina and learned to be just a little harsh if she needed to.
of course, that leaves Kakashi. the distance between the three isn't massive or anything. he is loved no less.
at some point... Minato had lost faith in Kakashi, believing he'd never recover from Sakumo's death, believed Kakashi would never value comrades again. Minato had distanced himself just a little bit from Kakashi, and blamed himself entirely for it (because why would you back away from a kid with no parental figures and clearly needs so much help??).
he believed he could not help.
Kakashi never noticed until he got older and remembered the way Minato would look at him.
the realisation that Minato had no faith, no trust in him hurts, and it only builds a deeper hole when Kakashi knows Minato felt that way all the way up until his death...

Can we… can we talk about how underrated Kakashi's relationship with Gai is by everyone?
I start my essay by stating that I have been visiting many pages about Kakashi (biography, psychological analysis, etc.) and many of them have disappointed me by barely mentioning the relationship these two have. Kakashi, at first, didn't like Gai much for his boisterous way of being, but over time they hit it off, enough that Gai, a fairly confident person who rarely expresses any negative sentiment, confesses to Kakashi the shame he has that his father is still a genin. One would expect, with Obito not yet dead, that Kakashi would mock or belittle Gai, but instead, he, the prodigy of his generation and a cold genius, tells Gai that his father is "the coolest shinobi out there." This is incredible knowing that he was a little shit with everyone.
Tumblr media
Changing the subject by mentioning Obito, can I also add a perspective that many people often confuse? Both boys considered themselves to be Kakashi's rivals, but for different reasons; Obito was constantly jealous and envious of his teammate's successes and even the attention he received from his crush (Rin), while Gai never felt anything like it towards Kakashi, rather seeing the boy as a personal ideal of a perfect shinobi that he wanted to achieve and surpass, without any animosity in between. Gai constantly cheered Kakashi up and always seemed happy to see him, while Obito, even though he cared for him (Kakashi), he always felt less than him, which made him very angry with his teammate.
Tumblr media
Making a timeskip after his and Rin's death, a rather significant scene of what Gai represents for Kakashi is when he is sent on a mission by Minato to protect him in case something happens to him. Minato is absolutely right since Kakashi, in the middle of the mission, has a panic attack that causes an enemy to almost kill him, being saved by Gai who soon comforts him. What can be taken for granted is that Gai somehow managed to calm him down, surprisingly.
When Minato and Kushina die, Kakashi is left alone and unappreciated in a rush to fibally die. At this point we know that they both have a good and strong relationship apart from fighting each other, so it's no surprise when the only one who still believes there's good in Kakashi is Gai, who tries his best to help him, to the point of begging the Hokage to let him into Ambu so he could help and protect Kakashi.
In an intense mission in which Gai watches as Kakashi kills with unwavering coldness, he knows that the best option to get Kakashi out of the black hole he's stuck in is to get him out of Ambu. He is so worried about Kakashi that he constantly makes demands to get him out, to the point where the Hokage, knowing that Kakashi is an invaluable asset in Ambu and an extraordinary ninja, grants his request.
How are there people who believe that these two are just "friends"? And I'm not talking in romantic terms (not now). I'm talking about them believing they don't have "a strong connection" or that Gai is just an "old friend or close acquaintance". It's almost insulting.
Tumblr media
Many believe that Gai is the only one who participates in the challenges and that Kakashi doesn't like them, but we know that they did more than a hundred challenges in the course of their lives. If Kakashi found them ridiculous or wanted Gai to leave him alone, he could. He was stronger than Gai, he could even disappear or manipulate him into leaving, but he accepted those challenges, he even keeps score! He likes them, he enjoys doing challenges; he is as into it as Gai.
Tumblr media
They both have fun together no matter what. The two talks, understand each other and know each other well. They are not just "rivals" or "just friends"; Gai is a very important part of Kakashi's life, he is the one who kept him away from death (by suicide or being murdered), he is the one with whom Kakashi feels safe enough to faint from exhaustion in the face of danger (the attack of Itachi) or to guide him when he is blind. Despite his attitude towards his friend, Kakashi knows that Gai is precious to him; many times he has protected him, encouraged him or cared for him, and not just because he is a ninja comrade.
Tumblr media
End of my essay. Talk to me if you want to continue discussing or talking about why Kakagai is so fascinating and amazing.

i feel so so crazy every time i think about the expressions obito pulls during the kamui fight... everyone always focuses on his "crazy smile" and it's become so prevalent in fanart and fanfiction that you'd almost think his character was defined by that emotion...
instead i want to talk about the way the animators used the (very sparse) light in his eyes during that fight to convey something different about him that i think is so much more important to understanding his motives and feelings during this part of the series: determination (to, in his mind, "save the world") and grief (knowing, at least somewhere deep, deep down that things will be the same. after all- he wants to create a perfect dream world, not a perfect world because when reality refuses to change... then you settle for second best).
during the start of the fight between obito and kakashi in kamui, both of their eyes are lightless and faraway, they've closed themselves off emotionally to stay resolute in their convictions. this is the first time they've fought face to face in twenty years, and we can tell this takes a toll on both of them because the shots switch back and forth between them fighting as kids to them as adults and back again, with their expressions and reactions mimicking those of when they were younger. it stands out less on kakashi, because while he did change as he grew up he still has a fairly reserved attitude and sticks to the shinobi rules of not showing vulnerability in front of his students and teammates.
it's more obvious with obito, because the distinction between him as a kid and an adult are just so different. whether it's quiet sadness (when he talks with minato about kakashi and sakumo before the kannabi bridge mission) or frustation (not graduating fast enough) or worry (they've lose a teammate in enemy territory), his emotions are drawn exaggerated from the get-go. obito is emotional outwardly and that's a staple of his childhood self as well as another reason he's a "black sheep" shinobi.
then, we have several chapters and episodes after his face reveal where his expressions hardly expand past a frown and a deeper frown. it's easier for him to close himself off, dissociate into someone who can take on an entire army, because that army represents the bulk of what he sees wrong with the shinobi world. alone with kakashi, though... feelings slip in. he doesn't have a character to play, a mask to wear.
kid obito's determination not to lose slips through, and you can see the bitter sadness, the desperation behind his feelings. this expression drags out significantly longer than kakashi, and in many ways gives the impression that his will is stronger than kakashi's. kakashi can't bring himself to kill obito, no matter how close he gets. his resolution is weaker than obito's conviction to free himself, destroy his last shred of humanity (his heart) by throwing himself on kakashi's blade.
kakashi's "determined gleam":
Tumblr media Tumblr media
versus obito's:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't have much else to say really HAHA... i've just been thinking about this like ten second long snippet of their fight since i rewatched it a few months ago because it's something i totally missed when i watched it air years ago. this isn't a kakashi snub either! he just doesn't get his character quite so brutalised by fandom the way obito does, and i'd looove to see more content that doesn't diminish him to "angry guy that swears a lot" LMAO

Obito Headcanons
(These are from my old blog).
These headcanons are usually about Obito being a shinobi of Konoha or as a Hokage:
-Obito is able to unlock Susanoo even with one eye. (If Shisui can do it in the game, so can he.)
-Even if he returns to Konoha from Madara's hideout and grows up and becomes the Hokage, Obito still suffers from PTSD. His PTSD is what fuels his desire to put an end to fighting and maintain deep bonds in the village.
-Obito is a Cat Dad. As we all know, it's the one-eyed black cat whom he names Tobi.
-Obito is one of the scariest shinobis that enemies have ever come across, because of how stealthy and unpredictable he is. Sometimes they call him "the cheater of death" because he always manages to fool his enemies into thinking that they got him, but nope.
-Obito would be a member of the Konoha Military Police Force in an AU where he returns to Konoha or if he survives the boulder. :)
-As he matures, his personality is more reserved and collected. There are times when he gets reactive, like when Kakashi gets all snarky on him, but other than that, he becomes less of the stubborn boy he was (depends on the circumstance, because he does get hardheaded at times) and more focused.
-This may not be a headcanon, but when I first saw that Obito is an Aquarius, I couldn't think of anything more right for him. I'm no expert in zodiacs, and I don't know if it's a coincidence, but honestly, I think Obito being an Aquarius is a completely fitting horoscope, especially for the type of character that he is. Ambitious, clever, and also rebellious - he refuses to be a sheep to the norm of society, in this case the shinobi world.
-Obito incorporates his Akatsuki leadership skills into his role as the Hokage. He is a good leader. He gives off a rather intimidating vibe (despite his friendliness), and he definitely cannot stand anything that falls out of order. He is ruthless when he needs to be. His enemies are definitely afraid of him, because once he's provoked, it's over.
-Obito would be the one to lead Danzo's termination (or execution) because he's the one that sees through Danzo's bullshit, and Obito would influence the Konoha Council and Hokage to see through Danzo and expose him as a traitor of the Leaf that wants to annihilate the Uchiha and overthrow Minato as the Hokage.
-Obito would actually be the bridge of peace between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha. At the starting, the Uchiha Clan considered him to be the "black sheep" because of the fact that Kakashi achieved more than he did. But Obito is simply a late bloomer. As he grows up, he would eventually surpass Kakashi. Hell, his Sharingan had 2 tomoe when he first unlocked it, and that's already a stepping stone to becoming a stronger shinobi of his clan. And when he does, Obito becomes more respected by the clan, and in a way, he can influence the underlying political tension between the Uchiha and Konoha. Obito would be the one who is capable of dispelling the unrest and allow the village and the clan to form a better truce.
-Obito loves to stay in shape, so he exercises every day. It's one of his best hobbies.
-Obito would actually be really good friends with Shisui and Itachi, and the three of them working together as a team makes them one of Konoha's strongest trio of the Uchiha Clan. They're the first people in his clan to acknowledge him.
-Most people would see that Obito would have a close relationship with Naruto, but he would actually have a close relationship with both, Sasuke and Naruto. He helps train Sasuke when Itachi is off on a mission, and when Sasuke gets upset with Itachi, Obito would comfort him and only tell him that his brother loves him very much and not take things too personally. He makes sure Sasuke understands the importance of comrades and teamwork. He and Naruto are too alike, so they tend to clash with their ideals. They are both hardheaded and stubborn, so they rile each other up. But Obito would usually be the one to treat Naruto to Ichiraku when Naruto succeeds in something.
-In a post-war AU, Obito would be a fun uncle to Sarada. He'd be her favorite person to spend time with. He's protective of her, and he's always there to comfort her when she starts to miss Sasuke, or if she starts to doubt herself, and he would train her regularly and teach her certain Uchiha techniques. Obito would usually tell her how much she is like her father, which makes Sarada happy and excited. He would sometimes teleport Sarada and Sakura to see Sasuke on the occasion that Sasuke is able to see them. There are times when only Obito is able to see Sasuke, and he'd update him on everything about Sarada.
-Obito's sense of humor only gets darker as he grows up. It just does.
-As the Hokage, he'd be the one to bring the 5 villages together and establish peaceful diplomatic relations with their nations. He'd also give Amegakure the support and protection that it needs, and it would be off-limits and no longer be used as a battleground. The original Akatsuki, the ones that Yahiko, Konan and Nagato established to strive for peace, would actually gain Obito's support when Hanzo starts to only chase after power and disrupt peace. Obito would be the first to establish proper diplomatic relations between Ame and Konoha.
-Obito sometimes brings out his Tobi personality during infiltration or spy missions. xD
-(this is sort of canon but it can be incorporated into an AU where Obito is a Konoha shinobi) Since Obito is a very intelligent shinobi, he's often relied on to read through enemies and he'd be the team's tactician. He has exceptional observational skills, which makes him reliable in knowing what's the best approach to pursue. He's good at predicting outcomes too, so the element of surprise doesn't get to him. He's a master manipulator when he has to infiltrate his enemies; he's the one that knows how to get closer without being harmed, and get the intel that he needs in order to complete the mission.
-Obito isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when it comes to extracting information from his enemies. His genjutsu techniques are brutal, and he scares them in his Kamui dimension, since they can't get out. Konoha's Interrogation and Torture Squad would rely on him sometimes when suspects want to be difficult and when there's no time to waste.
-His favorite weapon is anything involved with chains.
-Obito would take out his frustrations and emotional turmoil in his Kamui dimension, because he hates being vulnerable in front of anyone. He would cry alone over there if he has to.
-He stops being a crybaby after the age of 16.
-Even if he becomes the Hokage, he resides in the Uchiha compounds so he can be close to the Uchiha Clan. They all love him and respect him like crazy. Shisui would be his right-hand man along with Kakashi, even though Shisui is also Itachi's right-hand man (Itachi would be the clan head by the time Obito is the Hokage).
-The system of allowing children to choose a ninja life or civilian life would be established by Obito, and carried on later by Naruto.
-I said this before and I'll say it again, Obito has a yandere streak.
-Just like Itachi, Obito has a sweet tooth and loves desserts and dango. Sometimes he and Itachi would hang out together at the dango cafe or just by a lake or riverside with a bag of their favorite sweets. His least favorite food is anything liver-based.

Naruto fandom is so funny.
They can forgive Obito for murder, causing a war, forming a terrorist organisation, being responsible for multiple deaths including Naruto's parents.
They can forgive Gaara for killing innocent people, attempting to kill Lee, Sasuke and Naruto.
They can forgive Nagato for destroying Konoha and killing people.
They can forgive Sasuke for betraying Konoha, joining a terrorist organisation, trying to kill Naruto, Sakura, Karin and Kakashi (who all just wanted to help him, mind you).
BUT they cross the line at Sakura being ‘annoying’ and Hinata for falling in love with Naruto. It's ridiculous how these two girls are hated for completely stupid reasons but the male characters who did worse than them always get away with bullshit.
Naruto and Sasuke fighting each other to death and losing their arms is ‘Epitome Of True Friendship’. But Sakura hitting Naruto for slapstick comedy (which doesn't even give him actual wounds) is ABUSE?!?!?!?
Hinata willing to die to protect Naruto and bravely fighting an enemy 10x stronger her than her is ‘selfish’ and ‘useless’ but other characters (Iruka, Sasuke, Minato, Kushina, Tsunade) doing the exact same thing is bravery, love and selflessness.
Sakura forgiving and loving Sasuke after he pushed her away and tried to kill her (2/3 times she attacked him first mind you) is ‘stupid’ and ‘fangirl’ but Naruto chasing after Sasuke more than Sakura and Sasuke hurting him and pushing him away more than what he did to Sakura is ‘best friends’.
Hinata watching Naruto train few times because he inspires her to be better and stronger is ‘creepy’ and ‘stalkerish’ but Jiraiya peeking at women's bathroom without consent and drooling over Naruto's sexy jutsu form (who's an underaged girl by the way) and involving Naruto (a minor who was not even 13) in his peeking is ‘peak comedy’ and ‘haha so funny’.
Hinata and Sakura having unrequited feelings for Naruto and Sasuke is ‘obsessive’ but Obito choosing the path of destruction because his unrequited crush died is ‘true love’. Atleast the girls never killed people over their crush and yet they're hated but Obito is praised huh?
Stop holding female characters to such high standards if you can't keep the same energy for the male characters.
Also to clarify, this is NOT a criticism of the other characters and their actions.
Naruto's shinobi world is entirely different from our world, a lot of fucked up things which aren't acceptable here are the norm there, that's why forgiving all the bad stuff which I mentioned above is normal by their standards.
However I'm criticising the fandom who understands the working of the shinobi world when it comes to the male characters but suddenly becoming a moral police and expects Sakura and Hinata to be perfect and not make a single mistake at each and every step, while characters who did worse are fine to them.
I'm criticising the fandom who holds the women to such a high standards.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the reason why he gave that mission is because he can sense the danger of Gaara’s Bijuu chakra
Tumblr media
-  Investigate Itachi’s intention to Sasuke

Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Boost his confidence and encourage him to not suppress his emotions anymore
Tumblr media
Bonus
According to Kishimoto, Kakashi is the ideal master for him compared to Jiraiya and Iruka.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, I find many Naruto fans from Tumblr and Reddit disagree with him. Naruto fanboys on Reddit who is full of power scaling lover dudebros thought that Jiraiya is the ideal master because both Naruto and him are not “geniuses” and Jiraiya taught 2 jutsu to him, Summoning Jutsu and Rasengan, compared to Kakashi who just taught about developing Rasen Shuriken (offensive attack speaking). As for Naruto fans on Tumblr prefer Iruka because they generally saw Kakashi as apathetic and emotionless man, so they like Iruka who is more soft and considerate.
Not gonna say that they were wrong because ideal standard is different from person to person, but in Kishimoto’s case, he explicitly said that Kakashi is the ideal master to him because Kakashi is “A protecting Master who instead yelling at you, explain what went wrong and how to fix it. Someone who pushed his student forward instead of yelling him back to square 0”.
Meaning Kishimoto prefers this :
Tumblr media
(On that panel above, Kakashi has yet become Team 7′s teacher)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of these :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the same interview, Kishimoto also said that he had a very stern and rude master image in his head, but he wants Kakashi to be a more laid back teacher, gave him kindness and woman-like speech pattern.
Tumblr media
The “woman-like” speech pattern here I think is about how soft-spoken Kakashi is toward children. Compared to other males in Narutoverse, Kakashi has a very calm way to speak with kids and never shy about emotional conversation, like he told Haku about Zabuza’s feeling when they got Edo-Tensei-ed although Zabuza is still in the deep of “A shinobi must never show emotion” motto XD. In fact, I found this similarity between Kakashi and Inari’s conversation :
Tumblr media
And Mikoto-Sasuke’s conversation :
Tumblr media
Tl : dr = I’ll never declare Kakashi as the best or ideal master (unlike Kishimoto haha). But when I first arrived at Naruto fandom, I was so surprised at fandom’s depiction of Kakashi as emotionless military teacher. Like, did no one see that Kakashi is actually a giant softie? He’s like 20x way softer compared to my real life teachers. Or is it cultural difference?
As for this topic, I wholeheartly agree with this post :
Tumblr media
Although of course I didn’t saw him as loving mother XD (Translation error? The actual page is in Chinese and I use Google Translate Page to convert it to english).

Thinking here... Naruto & Boruto's time skips have two glaring flaws that are really opposite to each other...
When we get to see Naruto after the 2,5 years time skip, he barely changed anything, he basically:
Learned the Oodama Rasengan (A bigger Rasengan... After 2,5 years... Wow)
Learned to break free from genjustu (??? Why don't they teach it in the Ninja Academy again???) (And yet, he fails when he needs to use it in an actual fight)
And Kyuubi's power got more unstable and he still barely controls it, getting to go four tales rather quickly now (What's ironic given that control this power was Jiraya's focus)
Meanwhile everyone around him seems to have got really stronger: Sakura became a really good Medic Ninja and got Super Strength, Shikamaru evolved his shadow jutsu into a more offensive and independent in combat version, Neji became a Jounin, Chouji got better with his Body Expansion jutsu and was already praticing to use its best version without special pills & Sasuke well... Got a lot of boost, he even had the Kirin already when he first met Naruto & Sakura again... EVEN KAKASHI WITH HIS KAMUI!
Naruto seems to have got stuck in time to then just later have an actual evolution.
Like, I understand Kishimoto probably wanted us to witness Naruto's evolution, (and probably hadn't thought of the concepts properly by that time) but he could at least have made Jiraya drop some stuff and pass to Naruto some basic principles (such as the Chakra Natures (again, why didn't they learn that in the academy???) and what Minato actually wanted to accomplish with the Rasengan or even the Sennin Mode)
In the end the time skip really makes Jiraya look a bad teacher as later in the anime Naruto learns & improves such abilities in record time compared to his predecessors, impressing his teachers...
Meanwhile, Boruto's time skip of 2 years got to give nothing to the secondary characters besides new outfits, otherwise they receive near to zero attention and if we can say they actually evolved, they evolved nothing beyond we could expect or even still got under we could expect.
On contrary to Boruto himself, who reached a new power level, far beyond the average (being able to easily subdue Code who was previously pointed as a huge threat), learned the Hiraishin no Jutsu, had a change of personality, trained with the Frogs from the Myoboku Mountain and even CREATED A FREAKING RASENGAN THAT USES NOTHING LESS THAN THE PLANET'S ROTATION ITSELF...
The brat got absurdely stronger out of our eyes...
So in short: Naruto got almost no evolution in his time skip, what's really disappointing as we look at how much everyone else evolved in the same time; Meanwhile, Boruto evolved so much that it feels a loss we couldn't witness it considering how nobody else seems have been able to follow the pace... Really two opposite issues

Hello there! I go to you for all things Kakashi! From you, I realised that he was a neat and tidy Hokage who did his paperwork efficiently! May I ask, do you know how it had been for young Kakashi the first few days of receiving the Sharingan from Obito? How it affected his body?
Hey friend 😊 thank you for the ask
Tumblr media
Since canon never showed us what happened in that period of Kakashi's life I'm just guessing here but based on the information about the Sharingan and it's effects on non-Uchiha users, it was probably very hard for him to cope and get used to it at first, especially considering how young he was when he got it so his chakra pool was so much smaller than his adult chakra pool that was still struggling with the Sharingan's huge chakra drain, he has to have been giving Rin and Minato a lot of trouble at the first period after getting the Sharingan too because Obito gave it to him so he can protect Rin with it, he was most likely so eager to get stronger and learn how to use it as fast as possible to keep protecting Rin so there was probably a lot of fainting and chakra depletions and pushing his body way too much beyond his limit and that must have been so hard for Rin and Minato to watch especially after they just lost Obito but I think they would be trying to help him as much as they can too, especially Rin because as an elite Shinobi Minato didn't have a lot of free time to be around that much and this is why I think the bond between Kakashi and Rin must have grown a little stronger during that time until of he lost Rin too 😭💔

Late Again
Prompt: Camera
Words: 1,421
@kakashiweek
Obito was late, again.
No one was particularly surprised by this, but with every second that past without him running breathless into the training field Kakashi grew more and more impatient. He’d started by drumming his fingers against his arm and slowly progressed to grinding his teeth in aggravation.
“Kakashi,” Rin greeted him with a smile when he looked her way. “He’ll be here soon. You should be nice when he arrives.”
Nice?
NICE?
The last thing Kakashi wanted to be was ‘Nice’ when Obito was making them wait to begin their training. Perhaps he’d find some forgiveness in his heart if Minato-Sensei would at least let them begin training without Obito, but he was adamant that the whole team needed to be together.
Kakashi wasn’t even allowed to go off on his own to occupy himself. If he tried Minato-Sensei would grab his shoulder and hold him in place, and as good as people said he was he wasn’t anywhere close to being fast enough to avoid his Sensei.
“Oh come on,” Rin leaned in and bumped her shoulder against his, giggling when he grunted. “Obito’s trying hard.”
“No, he’s not,” he growled out. “That’s the exact problem. He’s not trying.” No matter what is was Obito was always finding excuses for his less than stellar performance. Either he’d say he was too busy helping other people, or he’d claim none of it would matter when he unlocked his ‘super special sharingan’ because then he’d be stronger than even Kakashi.
There was never an instance where Obito accepted his own shortfalls and genuinely tried to change them. Rin would make excuses, Minato-Sensei would laugh and tell them all to get ready for training, and then everyone except Kakashi would forget about it until the next time.
“Really,” he sighed, waving a hand towards Rin’s face and earning himself a smack to the arm when he almost hit her. “You’re too easy on him, Rin. Sensei as well.”
Minato-Sensei’s hand came down on his head, flattening the usually spiky hair under his giant hand. “What was that?”
“You heard me,” he grumbled. “You’re both always letting him off with a warning, or a laugh. He’s not learning anything from you going easy on him. If he wants to be a better shinobi he needs to take training seriously. Including being on time.”
“Obito has grown a lot as a Shinobi since our team was formed,” Rin reminded him. “He still has a lot of growing to do of course, we all do, but you can’t deny he has grown.”
The urge to roll his eyes grew stronger with every word Rin said.
“He has grown,” he admitted. “And he’s a good shinobi when he puts his mind to it. The problem is-”
He didn’t get an opportunity to finish his sentence because at that moment a cloud of dust began to form in the distance and just a few seconds later Obito came to a screeching halt in front of the rest of them with a camera clutched in his left hand and sweat pouring down his face.
“Obito!” Rin clasped her hands together and grinned at their teammate. “You made it!”
“Forty five minutes late.” Kakashi grumbled under his breath only to have his Sensei shove his hand down hard enough that he was forced to bow his head to avoid injury.
“That doesn’t matter,” the hand vanished just before Kakashi could unsheeth his Kunai, saving itself from getting sliced for the utter disrespect that his Sensei had shown him. “Now that we’re all here we can begin training, right?”
Obito took a deep breath and grinned. “Right!” He extended his hand out in front of himself and cringed when he noticed the camera still clutched between his fingers. “Oh, right. Sorry. One second.”
Seeing his teammate looking around, no doubt searching for the case that his camera went in, Kakashi surged forward and snatched the object from Obito’s hand. “Is this why you’re late?” he asked, avoiding Obito hand when he tried to snatch the camera back from him. “What were you even doing?”
Straightening himself up, Obito placed his hands on his hips and frowned Kakashi examining the camera. “And here I thought you were a genius,” he huffed, earning himself a glare from Kakashi. “It’s a camera, smarty pants. It’s for taking pictures.”
A memory popped into Kakashi’s head at that moment. A quick moment that had been seared into his memory for eternity of Obito leaning into their Team picture kissing the glass right over where Rin was in the photograph.
“Oh, more pictures of Rin?” he asked, smirking under his mask when Obito’s widened with panic. “Ran out of pictures to ki-”
“Anyways!” Obito yelled at a volume that was way too loud for any reasonable shinobi. His face was turning a shade of red that Kakashi had never seen before, his eyes daritng between Rin and Kakashi. “T-trainin! We should start training.”
This time Kakashi couldn’t stop even hope to stop himself from rolling his eyes. “We should have started training an hour ago,” he reminded his teammate as he turned the camera over in his hands and examined the back. “You were late, again.”
“I was busy!”
“You were distracted,” Kakashi corrected him.
Seeing Rin taking a step towards him, he turned his attention to her and made sure to hold the Camera just over his shoulder so she couldn’t try to snatch it away from him. “Kakashi, come on,” she insisted, holding out her hands as if she expected him to just hand her the camera. “Give it back, please.” there’s a pained sound that Obito makes when he says the ‘please’. As if saying the word is physically harming him.
For all Kakashi knows, it is. It’s not like Obito to use polite words, especially when it was Kakashi he was speaking to. Most of the time he preferred to yell out demands and whine when he didn’t get his way.
“Mmm, no,” he answered her pleas. “Unless…” taking one more look at the camera, he smiled as an idea came to mind. “How about a deal?”
“A deal? For my camera?” Obito stomped his feet against the ground. “Just give it back!”
“I will,” he assured his teammate. “If you can get it back,”  Obito lunged towards him, but Kakashi side stepped him with ease and watched as he fell face first into the dirt. “Come on, I know you can do better than that.”
“Kakashi..” Rin stepped forward, no doubt with every intention of trying to talk him out of his latest training idea, but before she could get another word out Minato-Sensei appeared behind her and laid a hand on her shoulder. When she glanced up at him he smiled.
“You two have thirty minutes,” Minato-sensei smiled at them while pulling Rin back. “Once the times up we’re going to train, got it?”
Lifting his head out of the dirt, Obito glared at Kakashi with a look that would have surely killed anyone else in their spot.
Thankfully, Kakashi wasn’t as weak willed as other people. He was used to people giving him looks like that whenever they saw him, even if he wasn’t doing anything wrong. Sometimes they’d glare at him with even more hatred.
The anger that Obito expressed was at least justified.
“Good luck,” he held the camera up so Obito could get one last good look at it. “You’re going to need it.”
With that, he was gone. Vanished into a puff of smoke while Obito screamed after him with promises of a swift, painful vengeance if anything were to happen to his precious camera. Although Kakashi didn’t take those threats all too seriously, he did take a moment to stop near a nice bush some distance away from his teammates where he promptly hid the camera away.
If Obito asked, he’d say it was so he could mess with him, but truthfully Kakashi didn’t want the camera to get damaged. All he wanted to do was mess with his friend. Perhaps teach him a lesson about being tardy to team training.
Obito would never forgive him, and he’d certainly never listen to anything he had to say about his terrible habit of being late, if he allowed the camera to be damaged in the scuffle that was sure to follow.
Once he was sure it was hidden from view he returned to the task at hand.
Making sure Obito didn’t catch up to him in the next thirty minutes.

That Hidden Stone asshole Kakkō is a major reason why everything (in life, not the plot) sucks for Kakashi and Naruto's generations in Naruto.
Literally the only reason Obito ended up getting crushed was because neither Kakashi nor Obito thought to finish off that Hidden Stone ninja Kakkō after Kakashi slashed him with his dad's chakra sabre. The cut wasn't enough to render him fully unconscious, they just assumed it was, so he was able to get back up and then collapse the cave they were in. Literally all it would have taken is Kakashi taking that chakra sabre and stabbing the same dude through the throat or the skull *before* going over and releasing Rin from that genjutsu. Somewhere out there is an alternate timeline where Kakashi finished that prick off, and thus the cave-in never happened. Obito doesn't get crushed, all three of them walk out of that cave unscathed (except for Kakashi still missing an eye but I digress), and a lot changes overall from there. 1. Madara doesn't have a young Obito to manipulate into taking over the Eye of the Moon plan, and *maybe* he never finds a suitable Uchiha to take over the plan at all. We don't know exactly how long the Gedo Statue could sustain him, whether it was forever or just by a few decades. Then again, maybe he does. Who knows. I hear Uchiha Yashiro was a massive prick, maybe Madara manipulates him instead. But he was also a chickenshit so probably not. 2. Rin doesn't get kidnapped as a result of Madara's manipulations of the Hidden Mist village cause he no longer has Obito there to try to manipulate. So she LIVES to the present day. Or at the least, probably doesn't die by impaling herself on Kakashi's Chidori. 3. Obito gets to keep training alongside his teammates and friends and doesn't ever become Tobi, so the Kyuubi attack on the village never happens, Minato and Kushina don't die literally the day Naruto's born (maybe they die later in some other way but at least Naruto *will have parents* and won't be treated like the scum of the earth for the Kyuubi's attack on the village. Since again, it doesn't happen in this timeline). Hiruzen doesn't have to step back into the role of Hokage, at the very least not as quickly. Probably not at all, with how strong Minato already was and the potential he had. Minato probably ends up getting way stronger and ends up becoming the strongest Hokage in history (at least, compared to his predecessors). Yes, I actually think he'd eventually surpass even Hashirama in strength. Remember, Minato died at only 24. He had A LOT of room to grow. And he probably doesn't listen to Danzo's bullshit either. Remember, Hiruzen tolerated it because he had a childhood friendship to Danzo. Minato doesn't have that connection to Danzo.
3.5. Since Obito never becomes evil, he has nothing to do with the incarnation of the Akatsuki we saw in Shippuden. Maybe they still become that though, Danzo is infamously, a fucking prick. 4. Kakashi doesn't have to live with the guilt of being unable to save his friends, though on the other hand he never gets the Sharingan either and will be old one eye his whole life. But considering how badly the Sharingan drained his stamina and how much his trauma held back his true potential over the years, that might work out to Kakashi's benefit and have him be much stronger, much faster. He'd have to either readapt or discard Chidori though, since it's not safe to use without the Sharingan. Maybe he holds onto the knowledge and teaches the Chidori to someone that CAN use it better than he could.
5. When Orochimaru goes rogue, Minato (who again, *lives* in this timeline) probably isn't gonna let his ass get away, even if Hiruzen still does. Orochimaru is a slippery bastard but he can't keep up with fucking TELEPORTING.
5.5. Even if Orochimaru does get away, and eventually attacks Konoha like he does in the main timeline, it's unlikely he'd survive a fight with Minato. But chances are he wouldn't DARE try to take on Minato. ...oooh wait, Madara might consider trying to ally with Orochimaru if he lives long enough to do so. Again, still some questions on just how long being connected to the Gedo Statue could actually extend Madara's lifespan. But Orochimaru *does* desire the Sharingan and might be able to be swayed to help Madara in exchange for help in gaining said Sharingan abilities. And that's actually a scary possibility.
6. The Uchiha are never blamed for the attack of the Kyuubi, since in this timeline it never happened. They're also not shoved to the edge of the village, put under surveillance, and ultimately massacred by Itachi due to Danzo's manipulation. Sasuke never has to see his clan massacred, he has loving parents and a loving brother, and he never has to leave the village to seek power for his revenge. Shisui probably lives too, seeing as Danzo attacked him basically to prevent him from using Koto Amatsukami on Fugaku to prevent the coup d'etat that again, most likely wouldn't even happen in this timeline. Maybe Danzo would attack him for his eyes anyway though, Danzo's a fucking prick afterall.
7. Minato as Hokage would probably be very impressed by Itachi's academy scores and chunin exam times, considering they both were child geniuses. He'd probably keep tabs on Itachi, maybe even take Itachi under his wing to an extent and consider Itachi a future successor to him. And when Itachi gets that chakra illness, Minato, knowing Jiraiya personally, could ask Jiraiya to find Tsunade and bring her back personally to help treat Itachi.
7.5. Alternatively, there's a possiblity Obito, now that he's finally activated his Sharingan, finally starts excelling as a ninja, and he's the man Minato considers most as a future successor to himself. Reason I didn't write this as the main possibility is we don't know how much of Obito's later strength came to him naturally, and how much of it was due to his having White Zetsu cells attached to him in combination with the Mangekyo and the Uchiha curse of hatred. Obito got A LOT of buffs from his circumstances. I still think he'd be a great ninja and jonin someday, of course, we just don't know how great he'd be without those buffs. That being said, if we consider the assumption that Obito *is* still strong enough to succeed Minato as Hokage valid, I could see Minato assigning Itachi to Obito's team at first, and when Obito succeeds Minato, Obito and to a lesser extent Minato both groom Itachi to be Obito's eventual successor.
8. Some other random people that aren't gonna die since Obito never goes evil: Hiruzen's wife, Kurenai's dad, Iruka's parents, and countless anbu and other nameless ninja that died in the 9-tails attack.
TL;DR So much awful shit could have been avoided if Kakashi or Obito finished this particular jackass off. He's not the ONLY reason life sucks for Kakashi and Naruto's generations, but he's a massive part of it. Thanks Kakkō, you fucking asshole lmao:
