Summary: In quest to save Spider and escape the sinking ship, you take the bullet instead of Neteyam
Pairing: Neteyam x GN Navi!Reader
Warnings: Spoilers from ATWOW, gunshot wound, blood, angst, near death experience
Word count: 1.5k
A/N: There it is! Thank you so much for reading, I hope you like it. Also, thanks for all the support and response I’ve gotten recently, you guys are incredible!
Tumblr media
The ship that held your friends was quickly sinking thanks to large part to Payakan. Screaming and gunfire filled your eardrums, trying to push it away and focusing on freeing Lo’ak, Kiri, Tuk and Tsireya with Neteyam and getting the hell away from the ship.
It went surprisingly smooth, despite the shooting around and against you. Somewhere along the fighting, the group was separated from Kiri, Tsireya and Tuk after you and Neteyam got his siblings out of the bindings tying them to the skip. That was until Lo’ak refused to leave Spider behind who was still inside somewhere. ”They have Spider! We’ve got to get him, come on!”
Neteyam, being the older protective brother, of course followed after Lo’ak, and you followed after them. You three found Spider and made quick work of trying to escape from the ship will simultaneously getting shot at by the fake Avatars still onboard. The group made it to a railing overlooking the to the sea, and while Neteyam shot with a gun at the humans, Spider ran across and flung himself over the railing and into the water followed by Lo’ak.
”Alright, on the count of three, we run.” Neteyam took your hand in one of his while still shooting with the other. You squeezed his hand and nodded quickly before you remembered he couldn’t see it, instead responded with an okay. Neteyam started the countdown. ”One, two, three!”
He dropped the gun and broke out in run, heaving yourselves over the railing and free falling into the sea, away from the bullets aiming for the two of you. Yes, we made it! Even before you made impact the water, a sharp stinking sensation appeared in your chest. Your legs struggled to kick upwards when your body submerged in the water, swimming up to the surface and gasping for air moments after Neteyam did. Lo’ak and Spider were bobbing in the waves, waiting for you two to emerge, looking relieved. ”There you are, let's get out of here!”
Pain stabbed in your chest as you tried to follow the boys, so you stopped moving with a hiss. You looked down at yourself, and horror filled you upon seeing the water around your body slowly turning red. Neteyam, being the closes two you, heard the hissing and turned back around. Concern filled his eyes as he swam closer. He touched his hand to your shoulder tenderly. ”[Name], are you alright?”
His eyes scanned your body, looking from your face down to your chest, seeing what was wrong. Neteyam pressed his hand immediately firmly against the middle of your chest right where the burning sensation was located. ”Shit! Lo’ak, Spider, they have been shot!”
What felt like in the blink of an eye, Lo’ak and Spider was by your sides and grabbing a hold of you and starting to swim away towards the cliffs. Neteyam cradled your head in one hand, the other still pressing against the bleeding wound. You saw his lips moving but the words he spoke didn’t reach your ears. Your vision was blurring and ears ringing, everything seemed to be going in slow motion and speed up at the same time. Lungs struggling to pull in air, there’s not enough air, I cannot breathe, I cannot br-
“Dad! Dad, help! It’s [Name], they’re shot!” Lo’ak shouted loudly as another pair of hands griped at your body, helping to carry you up and out of the water to the nearest cliff-site. “Watch their head!” Distinctly you note that you’re no longer in the water but laid on your back with Neteyam, Spider, Lo’ak, Jake and Tsireya above you, eyes frightened and close to tears.
Then suddenly the world had tilted to the side along with your body, it’s Jake hands rolling you over to the side. “No exit wound, that’s good. Keep pressure on the wound Neteyam! We’ve got to get them to the Tsahík and quickly.”
Facing upwards again, you look up at the blue sky, breathing getting more and more difficult with every inhale and exhale. Out of the corner of your eye, a green ikran carrying Neytiri landed, the woman detaching the tsaheylu before rushing to join Jake’s side, looking down at you with so much worry and sadness.
Neteyam locks his gaze with yours, his eyes heavy and tortured. Strong hands cradle your cheeks, smearing blood on your skin, not that it really mattered. Another pair replaces his on the oozing wound. His thumbs swiped under your eyes, and you didn’t realize till now that your crying. “Stay awake, yawne (beloved), you will be alright. Just, please stay awake!”
A trembling hand moves up to clutch at Neteyam’s wrist, holding on as tight as you could. Black dots were appeared, each and every breath turning more and more difficult and painful to inhale. You knew you were going to die. Trembling lips curved into the smile that Neteyam first fell in love with all those months ago. “Oel ngati kameie (I see you), Neteyam.”
Tears spilled from Neteyam’s eyes, rolling down his cheeks. The boy you loved above else was suffering, seeing the one he loved saying farewell. Neteyam shook his head, a sob escaping his lips, refusing to believe that he was losing you. “No, do not say goodbye. I can’t lose you!”
You leaned your head back as exhaustion creeped upon you, letting your hand slowly fall from Neteyam’s cheek. The breath left your lungs in an exhale. All the voices and touches of the ones you loved fell to the background as your eyes slid shut without your permission and you lost consciousness. Peace, all you could feel was peace.
-
Neteyam has been pacing back and forth for what felt like days, ever since he and his family rushed back to Awa’atlu with your unconscious body. It’s been hours since Ronal and Tsireya took you inside the healing hut and forbade any visitors. Neteyam felt numb, not knowing if his chosen mate was alive or not. If he would ever see their eye color, or their smile, or feel their touch ever again. Jake and Neytiri had tried to calm their eldest son distress several times with no result, so they had turned their attention to the rest of their children instead.
Lo’ak and Kiri were usually silent, Tuk fell asleep eventually after having cried into her mom’s shoulder. Even Spider was hopeless on what to do. After what was several stressful hours, Ronal stepped out of the hut, and everyone was up and on their feet again in seconds. Before the Tsahík could even open her mouth to dress the family, Neteyam beat her to it. ”Are they okay? Are they alive? Can I see them?”
”Yes, they are alive, and they are going to get better. I have done what I could for them. Now we pray that Eywa wills them a fast recovery.” Ronal spoke, her voice as tender as Neteyam have ever heard. ”You may see them, but only for a moment. They are still weak and need to rest.”
With the given permission, Neteyam ducked into the hut, careful to make his steppes light. His heart broke even further at the sight of you. You lay on a bedding on the huts floor, sound asleep. Your wound had been treated with healing herbs and wrapped with cloth, the material stained with your blood. It would need to be changed soon.
Neteyam slowly sat down beside your sleeping body. He took your limb hand in his, squeezing your hand tenderly. He leaned his cheek against the soft skin, breathing your scent in, letting his eyelids fall shut. He gave his thanks to Eywa for not taking you away yet, for allowing you to remain with Neteyam a while more. A squeeze on his hand made Neteyam open his eyes again.
”Do not look so sad, tìyawn (love). It does not suit you.” You mumbled, blinking eyes open to look at the male beside you. A smile stretched across your face despite the throbbing pain in your chest, happy to be alive and close with the man you’ve chosen. But Neteyam frowned.
”You almost died. I almost lost you, yawne (beloved). I…I can not lose you [Name], my heart wouldn’t survive it.” Your smile turned softer, more gentle. You could understand the fear Neteyam experienced, it was one you felt hundreds of times before, every time he and Lo’ak followed Jake out to battle, praying to Eywa to please bring him back alive.
You brought your hand up to Neteyam’s cheek, cupping the soft skin, thumb stroking the flesh absentmindedly. ”I am alive Neteyam, you will not lose me anytime soon. Eywa wouldn’t have placed me in your path if she didn’t mean more for us.”
”Nga yawne lu oer (I love you), Oel ngati kameie (I see you).” Neteyam leaned down, resting his lips against your forehead, cheeks and finally your lips. You smiled against his lips, kissing him back before letting yourself speak the words between kisses. ”Nga yawne lu oer (I love you).”

you meet each other in his third year of camp
you went to the same military school that Bianca and Nico went to and are good friends with them
Percy and co. rescue you and the di angelo siblings from the monster and bring you to camp
the hunters also offer you to join them, like they also offered Bianca, but you say no
at camp percy shows you around and you discover that the girl that fell from the cliff was his best friend, and was named annabeth chase
you try to comfort him, but it ends up being a bit awkward since you didn't know her name until five seconds ago
he first hates it that you are taller than him because he is just an awkward teenage boy that things that something like height says something about someones character
when you first find out that he doesn't enjoy you being taller than him you start to tease him about it
he hates it
he starts to love it tho when you get to know each other better
however
when the camp nearly wins in capture the flag against the hunters because of you, they are impressed by it since you had no paper training and still and such a big impact in their almost-win
they ask you again to join them, but when you again say no they offer you to join them on the hunters quest to help artemis
when percy joins the quest uninvited you are first kinda angry because they clearly said that he wasn't allowed to join you guys, but are later thankful for his once unwelcome join since he saved your life from another monster and stuff
you two get closer on the quest until you become really good friends
you would help him hold the sky and have matching hair strands with him
he comforts you when Bianca dies since you were really good friends with her
you get together between the fourth and the fifth book
you pick him up after school to go watch a new movie in the cinema
that doesn't work out how it was planned because you two got kicked out from the movie theater because you were talking too much
after you two got kicked out you walk to his home and bake some blue cookies after his mom's recipe
it ends with a flour fight and both of you are covered in flour from head to toe
while cleaning the mess he randomly starts rambling about how much of a speacial and good friend you are of his and that he never wants to loose you
it's pretty obvious what he is trying to say
you try to also say something but he doesn't let you
"but what I'm really trying to say is that I couldn't live with-"
"percy-"
"no, let me finish. So I-"
to shut him up you bend down to kiss him
that's how you got together<33
his mom is pretty pissed when she comes home, seeing the whole kitchen covered in flour but her anger quickly vanishes when she finds you two sleeping on the couch while the credits to Nemo play
but anyway
he gets super exited when you res your head on his shoulder
he tries to hide is blush, which is kinda hard considering that his whole face is red like a tomato
you always have to bend down to kiss him<3
he is such a golden retriever boyfriend
he loves pda and cuddling
annabeth would simply try the new tactic for capture the flag to you, but percy just cuddles you and claims that it is his "boyfriend duty" to cuddle you all the time
he'd love to be the little spoon
you two would always dye your matching hair strand, from where you fought atlas and hold the sky, in another color every month
he'd always beg to dye it blue
you do literally everything together, be it sparring or watching your siblings
he'd definitely love pottery, so you sometimes would sneak out at night and drive to the city do visit a night course of pottery (idk if that exists, but let us just pretend that it does for the story)
making soup or cereal bowls for each other<33
always baking blue pancakes together for every minor event (birthdays, holidays etc. )
sometimes you'd tease him while doing it and hide the blue food color from him
he only gets it back in reward for kisses
he says he hates it but he secretly loves it
don't tell that anyone tho

I'm happy there was no season 4.
This could either be a popular, or very unpopular opinion, I'm unsure as frankly I've only began watching two days ago, and finished the show already, (god it was beautiful).
Anyways, I very firmly believe anything after a season 3 would have likely ruined the storyline, it ended on such a beautiful note, something that's so perfectly them. I'm also in a way, happy they never actually did kiss, although realistically I had been rooting for it to happen, the fact it didn't doesn't bother me one bit, it really brings out all the intimacy in their prior actions, and words, I love that their love was batshit insane, that it didn't need a kiss or pda to believe it was reciprocated, frankly surrendering eachothers lives together was more than enough for a confirmation.
But continuing on, I believe a season 4 would have been too messy, they left s3 on a very difficult position to recover off, and a position that didn't need recovering either, it didn't need fixing or changing - not one bit. It was so perfect in my opinion, their last things they did was kill a man together to save one another, then kill themseleves together, literally how much more fitting could it have been for these murder husbands? It just worked so well, that nothing can be more intimate than death for them, in my opinion.
Latching onto the last part of the first section of the post, I really liked how they portrayed the reciprocity of Will's feelings towards Hannibal. When Bedelia ask's Will if he 'aches' for Hannibal too, and it cuts off to another scene, I generally already took that as a yes, as it was a big damn claim, I don't think it's something you easily hesitate on, not when the person in question is a cannibalistic murderer. When he chooses to save Hannibal, and jump off the cliff with him though, that is the real confirmation of course, choosing to leave his wife and son, all friends and absolutely every inch of the life he made - for Hannibal, a man he physically could not get over no matter how hard he tried.
It's perfect, sorry I just finished the show today (like a few hours ago) and I love it so dearly, I've never watched something where the ending felt so genuinely satisfying, even if it seemingly hadn't meant to felt like a finale in that manner, it worked amazingly, I'm very glad it wasn't a s2 situation with such an insane cliff hanger, or else I would have probably just.. never watched the show. Some say it does feel like a cliff hanger, but eventually you can come to terms and realize that their actions, a double suicide in the name of love(?) couldn't possibly surpass anything else they've done at that point, their action's have led them to either horribly idiotic situations, or blissful moments.
Lastly I wanted to mention my original assumption of the ending, I midway through season 2 found out Hannibal was actually a incomplete cancelled show, also prior to that I found through spoilers that will eventually has a wife. Those facts are important because I very weirdly am a person who cannot consume a media without spoilers, (my anxiety is due to that). So I just about know every ending of a show before I'm even halfway into it, although I tend to prefer to wait later, I wondered if finishing the show was worth it so i searched it up, and watched briefly the ending, It was very relieving as if it actually did truly end in a heterosexual way it would have immediately made me quit the show, as yes they are intimite but I still did want any type of closure, without it I would have felt at most pretty indifferent with the ending.
Anyways, the show is beautiful, I love it so so much, even if it's a complete change in genres for me, I love the characters, I love the artistry and creativity in the show, and god do I love the ending.
(edit a day later: guys i totally missed that last scene w bedelia at the end, i still prefer s3's ending but did not know it was implied they were alive!!??!)

Outlast - Val Headcanons [REMADE]
I reread the last one I made and it wasn't as bad as I thought, but I just thought I'd rewrite it now that I think my writing has gotten somewhat better 😬🙏 Val uses they/them and is any gender you want, albeit in the NSFW section, they have a penis. Hollllaaaa!
I tried to make this as detailed as humanly possible. I took some inspo from my Val bot who is scarily accurate...huh. A lot of these HC's, I got from talking with my Val bot :)
Once again you take the place of Blake. He should really thank me, I'm saving his ass 🤨 There is also no sexual assault from Knoth or a pregnancy. I wouldn't put you through that 😭
CW: ...This is Val. Every CW applies here rofl!! I tried to be a little more "in depth" with their personality but they are hella bare outside of being murderous, rapey and culty. Forgive me. :(
There is, obviously, a NSFW section. Trying to become more comfortable with NSFW so I can write the good shit.

How You Met
🖤 This place smelled awful. Decay and summer heat was just an awful combination; your nose stuffed itself to save you the trouble of gagging and vomiting everywhere you went.
🖤 Your helicopter had crashed, and you found yourself lucky that you didn't fall off of the cliff edge that you passed out on. Your pilot, however...was not as lucky. Gutted like a fish and eyes empty, he was not shown mercy. And you feared the person who did this.
🖤 Everyone here was crazy. They pointed at you like you were one with the undead, and they ran. Where? You didn't know. The only one brave enough to chase you was a tall woman, dragging a cross behind her and muttering passages from the holy testament. Gothic and smelling sweet despite looking sour, she scared the shit out of you.
🖤 You had been chased to a church, only for a bloated priest to touch you like a lover. Fingers fat and breath bitter, he disgusted you to the highest degree. So you kicked him and ran.
🖤 Only seconds later after jumping from a window did you hear his voice over the loudspeaker, "Kill the outsider and crush their head underneath your boot heels!"
🖤 Your lungs burned and you tasted blood, but you had to run. You would die if you didn't. And lo and behold, you were captured by Sullivan Knoth's obsessed horde.
🖤 Dirty and smelling of grime, they held you down and muttered some nonsense, but only seconds later were you rescued...or were you?
🖤 You thought you were dreaming, but several men coated in clay and sticks rushed out of the dark and shoved knives into the heads and bodies of the people holding you down.
🖤 You thought they were your saviours...only for one to take the place of the people holding you down previously. He stared at you despite his eyes being coated, and he clicked his teeth.
🖤 Moments later, a blonde walks out of the darkness, shoving their thumbs into the eyes of the remaining man, and his screams of terror invaded the air. The blonde hadn't batted an eye or even blinked, as if they were used to this.
"I watched my father fuck your God to death."
How vulgar. The voice was calm and almost quiet, but full of resentment.
🖤 Looking at them, they choked the man as they bent down, and as he breathed his last breaths, laboured, the blonde licked him like a lollipop. Like this was a game to them.
"Hush now...I want to share my love with the newcomer."
Was that you??? Oh no.
🖤 Chuckling to themselves, they rose up from the dirt, their long legs gliding them over to you, and the man above who chittered his teeth made an eager noise as they did so, their white eyes stuck onto yours.
🖤 "God doesn't love you. Not like I do."
🖤 They flawlessly straddled your waist, boots and strong thighs and calves tightening themselves around you much like a snake would do to their prey, and seconds after getting comfortable, they rushed down to your face with their tongue out.
🖤 Slimy and warm, their saliva trails down your cheek, and they pulled away with a moan before they went back down and repeated the action. This was...weird. Really fucking weird.
🖤 "Yes, my love?" They looked away from you to face the mud-coated freaks, and while they didn't speak, the person above you replied like they were having a full-on conversation. And while they were, you took a good look at them.
🖤 Blonde, obviously. The first thing you noticed about them. Gold like an angel's halo, but they were no angel. Their eyes were a shocking white with some blue within them. A beauty mark sat above their lip, and their face had looked sculpted. Flawless, even. Their cassock - you learned the name due to late night curiosity - seemed to be a dark yet dull blue, and around their neck, waist and wrist were rosaries. They seemed to have an obsession with the accessory, you think.
🖤 "I think I'll see you again." They purred, caressing your cheek before getting up to walk away, their group following. They fade into the darkness, and all you hear next is the dead silence. What the FUCK?
🖤 You're likely thinking, "why would Val leave us here??" Well. I have an explanation.
Val WANTS people to experience the idiocy that is Knoth's ideology. Run into people who share it, and you will find yourself facepalming and having to dodge machetes. They want to prove that Knoth sucks, and they WILL make you go through Hell just to prove a point, so you'll have no choice but to join them or die. Simple as. They like to think they're a safe haven.
The Journey
🖤 You suffered. A lot. Knoth's people were fucked up, and the man himself was worse. You had enough.
🖤 It took you hours to travel to the mines. You weren't going because you liked the way that the blonde had made you feel - Val, their name was - but because it was the only way out. How fun.
🖤 Heretics were eager to see you there! Because they closed every door behind you to lock you in. And they knew that they scared you, so they'd "trail" behind you and play around the barrels and varied floors of the top floor just to push you into their grasp.
🖤 It rained blood. And you heard whispers. Despite all of that, you felt at ease. Whether it was because you knew you were almost out, or because you were going to die...you didn't know. You just accepted either outcome. You were going to be free regardless of what happened.
🖤 The elevator you were forced into was very, very...well. It was an experience. A deadly one, actually! Because you had to get on your stomach to survive the fall to 800 feet below the surface.
EIGHT. HUNDRED. FEET.
🖤 The mines were...decorated quite nicely! If you're...a fan of burned corpses and torches! Also, skeletons boning. Get it? Huh? Huh? Sorry.
🖤 It smells...weird down here. Not bad, but...moist, and somewhat...smoky??? To be expected...blegh.
🖤 As usual, Heretics corner you and force you deeper into the moist caverns. Gross.
🖤 Everything down here is a hazard. But for some reason, you're still alive.
🖤 You finally drop down into some shallow water, only for the event from earlier to repeat. This time, the Heretics were women. Their voices were so...calming and soft.
🖤 Once more, Val comes out of the darkness, carrying a torch, and lacking their cassock and rosaries. This time, they look truly feral. Hair somewhat mussed and yet still so pristine, eyes wide and body coated in mud. Fake breasts sit upon their chest and a bulge of mud sits on their bottom half. Nude and yet not. Much like Eve when she wore those leaves after she ate the forbidden fruit, I suppose.
🖤 They were breathless, and you figured they were in a constant state of horniness. They always sounded breathy, like they wanted to shove their tongue down your throat.
🖤 Much like before, they caress your face, clay leaving their skin to attach to your cheek.
🖤 "We are creatures of appetite...I want to feel your hunger. I want to see your true face."
🖤 Well. Shit.
🖤 After that, you're stuck in the mines. You don't know how long you've been down there, but...Val, honestly, isn't that bad when you forget the orgies...and the murder...yeahhhhh.
General
🖤 Val would be the doting kind of lover with a hint of sarcasm. With everything that Val has been through, I like to think they've taken a humorous approach to things. They definitely roll their eyes when presented with Knoth's gospel pages.
🖤 Val despises stupidity, y'all. Leave the mines [and their love :(] if you want, but if you want to die by Marta's hand, so be it. Don't be stupid. That's all that they ask. Just don't be an idiot and you'll be fine.
🖤 Val has two modes. Feral, and calm. Calm in the streets, feral in the sheets, and the mines. Outside, they wear their cassock and their iconic rosaries and roam around with their Heretics, spreading their beliefs - LOVE SET US FREE - and shoving their thumbs into the non-believers.
Outside, they love PDA and will always keep you close. Making out is a common activity. They're almost somewhat elegant, in a way? Despite their cassock being all ripped and tattered, they look flawless.
Inside of the mines? Lord have mercy, Val loses all sense of "elegance" and become an animal. Teeth clashing, tongues wrestling, and genitals bumping into each other. Romance, am I right?
🖤 Loves the heat and finds it "hot". Because why wouldn't they. They are used to it, and will find it cute if you can't handle it. Definitely will offer to help you cool off with some swimming.
🖤 They love lazing in water. Pond, lake, whatever the depth, they will chill in it. They love to use it as an excuse to feel themselves up. Skinny dipping is common, as their territory has a river in it.
As a result, you often swim with them. They are an amazing swimmer. There's also some water inside of the mines, but it's only used on lazy days where none of you feel like going anywhere.
🖤 They also enjoy helping you "bathe". You are not bathing. You try, but they don't let you. Are you surprised?
There isn't any soap, so stagnant water will have to do. Better than nothing.
🖤 They coat themselves with mud and clay all the time. As a result, their skin is really soft. Of course, they coat you in it, too. You match. And your skin is really smooth after doing so for about a week.
🖤 Val is actually quite fond of preening. They will help you with your hair, your skin...whatever else. They'll brush your hair, style it, massage your scalp. The works.
🖤 They enjoy taking a break every once in a while. Watching the stars, talking to each other as you cuddle, or even sleeping beside one another are some of their favoured moments.
🖤 They have "mom' energy. They WILL lick their finger and wipe your face with said finger if there's something on it.
🖤 They barely go out during the day, because it is much easier to see their Heretics in the sunlight, and they can't risk Knoth or his guard dog seeing them. Night time is their favourite. The night is quiet, it's dark, and the only noises are crickets, the water outside, and moans from you. :)
🖤 You ask a lot of questions. Obviously. Like how did this feud start? Why be nude? Why is this place so...fucked up? Why lick people??
They answer every question with a chuckle, because they find your anger about this whole situation to be funny.
🖤 They love cat and mouse. If you run, they WILL catch you. They love playing games.
🖤 They enjoy physical affection more than verbal. They'd much rather hug you, or lick you, or stroke your skin. They tell you they love you of course, but physical affection is their love language.
🖤 They love your fear. They love the control of having you squirm underneath them.
🖤 They love the macabre things in life. They find beauty in body parts, bones, and shit that would freak a normal person out. Gifts from them would include arms, bones, a heart...just don't be shocked when you're randomly given someone's heart, okay??
They're quite crafty, too. So necklaces made of bone are common. A bone knife is given to you so you can defend yourself if need be, assuming you leave the mines.
An Alternate Take
🖤 Right! Leaving the mines! I've had this "idea" in my head for weeks.
So let's assume you've crashed, Knoth was creepy, you left, Val licked your face, yadda yadda yadda. Well...what if you DIDN'T try to leave Temple Gate? What if you wanted revenge?
Val had liked this. A lot. "I think I'll see you again" was right. They DID see you again. Time and time again, you were seen fighting off Knoth's people, stealing, and ruining Knoth's days. It was quite funny to witness.
🖤 Val, of course, writes you a note - with their iconic red ink - telling you to come to the mines; they have a special offer for you.
🖤 And there Val is. Outside of their mines, in their iconic cassock. With a raised brow and a suggestive smile, they cut right to the chase.
Help them bring Knoth to his knees.
🖤 You want that, sure. But with narrowed eyes, you question what this "alliance" entails. Will you be stabbed? Used as a fleshlight? What is their GOAL here?
But they assure you that no stabbing will commence unless it's a Knoth apologist. And they seemed to want to get to know you a bit more...personally.
Inside and out.
🖤 The mines and the overall area was now yours to explore, and they were more than kind to offer you their bed so that you can sleep properly. With them, of course. You're shown every shortcut, every tunnel, and Val holds your hand during the duration.
After a week, you become lovers. Well...YOU think so, anyway. Val treated and saw you like a lover the moment you accepted their proposal. You finally felt comfortable calling them your lover after a week.
🖤 Val is a very doting kind of lover. Physical affection, verbal affection and acts of service are their love languages. Very often are you swarmed with kisses, or hugged to their chest.
Val is 6'3, so they are tall.
🖤 You once convinced a courier from Knoth's circle to go into town and buy you some sweets. What really happened was Val forged Knoth's writing, and you stuck the note to the courier's door. When he came back with a bag full of sweet stuff, you knocked him out and ran with the goods.
Chocolate, lollipops, and some small cakes were devoured by you and Val as you sat on the outside of the mines on a blanket. They moaned after every bite, and they told you that they haven't had sweet stuff in awhile, except for you. Knoth hated letting people eat sweets, claiming it'd lead to "gluttony".
They are also really suggestive with lollipops, and they suggest the both of you lick one together. You know where I'm going with this. They love cherry cheesecake lollipops the most.
You also asked for some Pocky to play the Pocky game with Val, and after being informed of how to play, Val was more than eager! They deepthroated the whole thing and rushed to make out with you. Why they didn't choke, you don't know. [You DO know, you're just polite.]
🖤 Medical care does not exist in this town. No surgeons, no nurses, no doctors. Just Nurse Val. They aren't a real nurse, but they're as good as you're gonna get.
Because you're often out and about, Val is like your sweet lil' housewife waiting at home for you when they aren't doing their own thing with their Heretics. If you come back with any injury, they rush to ease your pain.
You'll sit on your shared bed, and Val will rummage through their medkit, grabbing "saline" [boiled water] in a small bottle held shut by a cork, and some bandaging. If it requires stitches, they'll use sap from trees and glue your wound shut to the best of their ability.
They love it when you injure your legs. Not because they like it when you're in pain, but because they love an excuse to sit you down and cuddle with you. They'll even carry you. Where the hell did their strength come from? You don't know.
🖤 Illness is not...REALLY common down there? Except for the obvious syphilis, heat sickness, and overall sickness from smelling decay all the time. If you have a strong immune system, you're fine.
But sometimes you'll come down with a cold, or a flu, in the colder months. And Val is more than eager to care for you, tending to you all the time. They love the excuse to lay with you and kiss your forehead. "To check your temperature", they say. Clearly.
🖤 They 100% celebrate Holidays, but in their own way. Halloween is their favourite; the Heretics go out in style every Halloween! They make their own costumes. Val goes as a vampire, and they make you your own costume so you can match.
Christmas is different. They'll use a tree, sure, but the ornaments are made of bone, and the top of the tree holds the "antichrist"; a baby doll with horns on it.
They gift you many things! Like themselves in the nude, wrapped in a ribbon. Best gift of all, no?
🖤 When you're not out and about, and you're with them, they love to coat you in mud and use it as an excuse to bond with you. Smothering in it as they lovingly ask about your day or your future plans makes them happy.
🖤 As expected, Knoth and Marta hate you. So you have to be cautious.
And because you hate them back, you're a sneaky little shit, so you spy on them whenever possible, and you were able to stop Marta's surprise ambush. The Heretics showed their appreciation, alright ;)
🖤 Life gets hectic, so you sometimes sit above the mines and watch the blood moon as blood rain pelts onto you. It's calming. You're not really alone, seeing as there's Heretics everywhere, but they're quiet and do their own thing, so you are somewhat alone.
🖤 As expected, during Marta's failed ambush, she gets taken hostage. You don't see Val for a while after. You, of course, question where they are, and the Heretics don't really say anything. They keep you busy and keep you far away from a certain part of the mines.
You feel dejected. Why wouldn't you? Val was so dedicated to you. It was to be expected, Marta and Val had history. Enemies to lovers. :(
So you'd spend your time away from the mines. You become self-aware, actually! Why ARE you sad about this?
Were you used?
Probably.
So you stay away. You barely go near the mines anymore. You now just deal with everything yourself.
Until one night, you were planning to plunder some supplies yet again, only for a bloody and muddy Val to waltz through the doors of your new abode - in the middle of a cornfield, by the way - and they looked...drunk? Happy drunk.
Marta was dead, and now it was time for Knoth.
🖤 When Knoth was killed, it was expected of Val to take the throne, and you accepted that your alliance was over with.
Just let you leave alive, and you'll never come here again.
But what surprised you is there was a throne right next to theirs. Made of sticks, mud and bone.
With your name on it.
NSFW [Under the cut cause lolz]
🖤 Val is decently sized. 6 inches.
🖤 They're a switch. They will 100% dom you and hold you down as they thrust into you, but they also love when you take the reins and ride them till sundown. Or...sunup. Either one.
🖤 Orgies are very common. Is it Tuesday? Orgy. You stole something from Knoth? Orgy. Is it rainy outside? Oh, what a shame. Orgy.
At first, Val guides you and has fun with you. Other Heretics join in eventually, but Val gets possessive after awhile.
🖤 Val loves giving and receiving oral. With a tongue like theirs? Why WOULDN'T they use it to their advantage?
To get them going, their cockhead is the most sensitive. Deepthroating makes them go feral. They find risky sex to be the MOST erotic thing. Hearing you heave for breath as they rip your head off of their dick is the hottest noise to them.
In terms of giving, they take their time at first. They want to know what makes you tic. They listen for any changes in your breathing, or for any noises that indicates pleasure.
And once they locate your sweet spot, they'll attack it with fingers and their tongue. They love your taste.
🖤 Sex, to them, is not only out of love but how they express themselves. Sex is alternatively a way to be feral. It's vulnerable and just...is everything to them.
Some days, when they're feral and needing to get their energy out, they love the mating press and doggy style. Fast and rough.
Other days, they love the lotus position. You're both close, and your heart beats alongside theirs.
🖤 They love pain as much as they love pleasure. They love to take a knife and trail it along your skin, and press down.
Tie them up. They'll be your whore for as long as you'd like.
🖤 They hate it when you're quiet. Be LOUD, baby. LOUD.

Analysis: Mike Jumping Off a Cliff in S1
Because it’s all I’ve thought about for the past few months.
TW: suicide mention
(Sorry if everything I’m about to say has already been said.)
Mike jumps off a cliff in episode six. At this point in the story, the majority of the town thinks that Will died by falling from the quarry, and it’s possibly been implied that Hopper originally thought Will jumped rather than fell.
Mike, however, knows Will is actually alive, and he’s dedicating all his time to finding him. He even befriended El solely because he thought she could help him find Will.
Then he got into a fight with Lucas, and their argument, at its core, was about Lucas thinking that Mike isn’t doing enough to help Will. Now, Lucas won’t talk to him.
After that fight, Mike got mad at Eleven and yelled at her, which drove her away. This means he currently has no way of saving Will, and on top of that, El, whom he’s made it his job to protect, is now wandering around, by herself, while people are trying to hunt her down and kill her. It’s likely that he feels he’s failed two of his friends, and to make matters worse, someone else he cares about even blames him for one of these “failures.”
When Troy tells Mike to either jump off the cliff or watch him hurt Dustin, Mike is at a point where he feels that he has no one else he’s capable of protecting. From his perspective, Dustin is the only person whom he can actually help, and keeping others safe is his one purpose. If he can’t save Will or El, he has nothing to live for, but if he can save Dustin by jumping off that cliff, he has something to die for.
Mike also doesn’t even try to negotiate with Troy; he makes no objections. It takes him less than nine seconds to decide to go along with it. Then, he walks slowly toward the edge of the cliff but doesn’t come to a stop until he’s on the edge, and he waits there for twenty seconds before jumping. Based on his body language, I think he hesitates not because he’s still deciding whether he’s going to jump but rather, because he’s scared. I also think the fact that he didn’t try to come up with an alternative to himself dying is a sign that at least part of him actually wanted to die — that he wasn’t just doing it because he felt he had to.
Now, the fact that this scene takes place at the quarry, of all places, is obviously significant. It could have happened anywhere in any way — Mike didn’t have to jump off the same cliff everyone thought Will fell/jumped from, toward the same water they’d found Will’s “body” in. But the writers wanted it to be clear that Mike jumped primarily because he felt guilty for not saving Will and that while other characters tried to make it seem like Will’s “death” was an accident, Mike’s own death would have been on purpose — a suicide. Hopper’s lines to Joyce, “Our working theory right now is that Will…crashed his bike. He…made his way to the quarry, and, uh…accidentally fell in,” were designed to contrast Mike’s purposeful jumping from the cliff. The audience is supposed to wonder why a twelve year old boy was so willing to kill himself.
Speaking of the police’s theory of how Will died — if it had been correct, and if Mike had died too, the boys’ deaths would have almost completely matched up. Both Mike and Will would have abandoned their respective bikes in the woods to run from a posed threat; both of them would have gone straight to the quarry afterward; both of them would have fallen/jumped from the edge, and both of their bodies would have been found in the water below. These parallels would not exist if they weren’t important.
Bonus: the camera shots after Will and Mike (and Dustin) leave their respective bikes parallel each other:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, in season two, episode one, Ted says to Mike, “So, if your friend jumps off a cliff, you’re gonna jump too?” He’s paraphrasing a common expression because he has no actual fatherly wisdom to give, as per usual, so I initially thought this was a throwaway line only meant to remind the audience how useless he is. However, while the line does serve that purpose, it’s not a throwaway from the writers; it has a point to it.
Mike knew, when he jumped off the quarry, that Will himself hadn’t actually jumped or fallen from it, but regardless, it’s plausible that, at the time, he was thinking about Will and the fact that Will’s fake body had been found there. And if Mike had died that day, the town likely would have assumed he did it because he wanted to “join” his friend by dying in the same way he did.
“So, if your friend jumps off a cliff, you’re gonna jump too?” is intended to remind the audience that Mike has some major issues that have yet to be resolved.

Lilia Info Compilation part 5: Before NRC
Most of the information we have about pre-NRC Lilia has come from Silver: he explains that Lilia is “one of the royal guards who serve the rulers of Briar Valley” in the present tense and “I have heard that his martial prowess is widely recognized and that the queen trusts him greatly”.
Silver also tells us that “he has stepped down from the front lines now, but he once earned medals for his myriad feats in battle”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Halloween Silver explains that Lilia’s “work” once “led him to the border between life and death. He glimpsed the Spectral Realm, said ‘Oh, crumbs!’ And came right back”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver also says that Lilia can run on on lotus leaves across the surface of water (considered to be “the mark of a true warrior”) In his birthday vignette Lilia himself explains that he raised Malleus, Silver and Sebek from when they were children (although Malleus has a large age gap that separated him from the other two).
Lilia says he was originally very strict with training Silver and Sebek, forcing them to swim in fast-moving rivers and climb cliffs where the air was thin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilia says that one day he had the realization that he is no longer on the front lines and the two children were not his soldiers, and that he was wrong to treat them as such.
He became more hands-off with them, then, allowing them to play freely and watching over them from afar.
Lilia is Silver’s adoptive father, though Silver tries to refer to him as “senpai” rather than “father” in front of the other students. Silver joins the Culinary Crucible course in order to “cook more enjoyable meals for the father who raised me” and to earn money, as “any money I can save up now will help me to be less of a burden on my father later”.
Silver says, “he raised me as a single father. I owe him everything. I often find myself wishing he could live a very long happily ever after."
"And I haven’t done anything to repay him for all that he’s done for me. I’m not just going to leave this matter to the stars, of course. I’m going to do everything I can for him too.”

So, This may be depressing but.
I’m counting up moments in Stranger Things across the seasons where Mike has shown next to no regard (or simply none at all) for his own life… yall it’s concerning.
There are (so far) at least 3 glaringly loud instances where Mike has canonically not cared about his own life at all. We have:
-The cliff scene (s1)
-the scene where Mike hits flayed Billy on the head and is literally almost killed (s3)
-the shoot out scene where Mike throws himself in front of Will several times and even tries to do the same for Jonathan like one or two times (s4)
And ofc an argument can be made for *all of season 2* when Mike was willingly right by Will fully knowing that he was literally possessed by an otherworldly entity that wanted to kill everyone and yet Mike did not care at all, he was just focused on keeping Will safe hmmm
And these are just the biggest instances where it’s really clear, I’m sure if I actually got around to doing my ST rewatch I would notice subtler moments where Mike maybe wasn’t considering his own life as a primary or even secondary cause for concern.
Which brings me to my point: I’m REALLY worried for Mike in season 5. There are way too many hints that Vecna is gonna target him, and even some hints that vecna is ALREADY watching him in season 4. And with how his mental state has been lately, I really don’t think he would be able to emotionally handle dealing with vecna and fighting him off. I can say with 100% certainty that if vecna went for Mike RIGHT NOW, with where he’s mentally at as of the end of season 4, Mike would not make it out on his own; it doesn’t matter what song they would manage to find to play him, or what Will would be able say, because as of right now there is a part of Mike that wants to die. And as long as that’s the case, Mike will not be able to find it in himself to to choose to live despite vecna “persuading” him to die (that’s pretty much what he does), he just won’t. If he IS the one (ha 💀) that’s gonna get vecna’d on the flower field at the start of s5 instead of Will, El would HAVE to pull him out with her powers bc otherwise we’d lose Mike right at the start of the season and I really don’t think that’s gonna happen, the Mike angst is gonna be dragged tf outttt.
Most likely though, its gonna be Will in a Vecna trance at the start of the season, which is good (angsty as hell ofc but Yk, that’s gonna be the season 🥲) bc that gives Mike time to get to a better place mentally before it’s his turn. I’m thinking that by the time Vecna tries to kill Mike, he’ll be in a place to believe that he deserves to live, which means Will’s words WOULD be enough to save him.
This would also be such a beautiful message for people struggling with depression, it would be the same message as the running up that hill scene in s4 and let me tell u that scene had me SOBBING, and with Mike there would be the added layer of his mental health struggles being made worse by being queer and I just know that’s gonna hit home for a lot of ppl… god 😭😭

I can't with the complete ignorance of people claiming Mike is not the heart of the party because another character seems squishier or something. Anyone watched the show?
There is no party without Mike, There is not looking for Will, no finding El. If there was any finding El, there would be no keeping El because Dustin and Lucas were nothing but freaked by her until THROUGH MIKE they had a lot of possibility to bond with her and appreciate her day saving abilities. MIKE luckily gave her a chance before she did anything useful just out of empathy and general heart matters, or there would have been no Will and general day saving. Mike also holds the connection to El through S2 and well, until now.
There is no indication that Will would ever be friends with Lucas or Dustin if it wasn't for Mike. He repeatedly implied he feels disconnected from them and they treat him like a freak and wouldn't understand him. (seems harsh but he feels that way)
MIKE has a full blown bromance going with both of them tho. "I call bull on your logic because you are my best friend too" *jumps off cliff for Dustin*. And this supercute scene of Dustin finally reaching Mike in the Supermarket in S3 is one of my all time faves. Obviously they gave strong bff vibes in ep1, S4.
Lucas was in the original pitch and by Dustin in S1 described as Mike's best friend and this is definitely showcased in S3 where he seems very motivated to hang out with Mike and pissed off only when he doesn't spend enough time with or pay enough attention to him - same way he felt in S1 according to Dustin. S4 also continues this dynamic although it is a bit generalized with Lucas wanting Mike and Dustin to come to his game and being hurt they don't. (And they want to come for his sake, they're just led astray by Eddie)
Max did not join the party through Mike LOL (She was added by the romance with Lucas.) This was a problem for her and she certainly tried to win Mike over. In S3 she was somewhat antagonistic towards him, a payback for the rejection. Then in the end they had to work as a team and at one point Mike tries to defend her from possessed Billy which leads to him being knocked out and her fearing he died...
Which leads us to S4 in which we see Max sitting next to Mike in class, pushing through the crowd to stand next to Mike at the game, mentioning him before El(!) and Will when giving out letters, which together with Mike mentioning her first when listing his friends back in Hawkins really starts to mean something. Mike is also Max' emotional support of choice, if she can choose.
While other party members have interesting, cute relationships with each other, the only one that is deeper than those characters' relationship with Mike is Lumax.
He is the reason the party exists, he is the center and not because he is some kind of political leader they chose to follow based on his vision and mission, but because he is the Mike they love and are drawn to emotionally. He is the heart of the party. Over and out.

@p-bubblegum @rubies-nightinga1e @housecatdahousecat and @celtic-sword requested elaborations on this post
Buckle up bc this is going to be a long one (no seriously this is so long I probably should have made this more than one part) and I combine some explanations so not every bullet has one
- The version of Artemis in featured in the series is one of the most manipulative and selfish gods we see in any of the books
My example for this one will be the lovely Bianca di Angelo, because I think she is the most complicated example of this and then I will connect what I think are the more blatant examples.
Bianca was sent into the entire world of the gods blind. This isn’t odd, all of the characters are shown to either be raised to know about the gods and what life will be like as a demigod or they are drop kicked into this world when a monster tries to murder then. The di Angelos experienced the latter.
The thing about Bianca is that she joined the hunters after only like twenty minutes of knowing them. A twelve year old girl who just experienced one of the most traumatic things to have ever happen to her is in no position to be making major life decisions. Artemis (Percy Jackson Artemis only, in most myths she is wonderful) is SO MANIPULATIVE.
All of the other major choices Bianca is shown to make or have made in the past portray her as a very maternal and responsible person. She has taken care of Nico for years, she accepted the quest immediately when asked because she thought it would help people, she was willing to die for her mistake in the scrapyard, HER JOINING THE HUNTERS AND LEAVING NICO ALONE JUST SEEMS SO OUT OF CHARACTER.
Personally, I blame Artemis completely. There is no way that Bianca could have been given a proper explanation of the hunters in the time she was with them. I just don’t believe it. All the information we know for sure that Bianca knows is that the hunters are conditionally immortal, they are all girls around the same age as Bianca or younger (Zoe is described to be the physically oldest there and she is only like fourteen), the hunters go after monsters, and they have a cabin at camp. I think that the cabin is the main piece of information that causes problems because when Bianca tells Nico she is a hunter she tells him they will still see each other often, meaning she is unaware of how the hunters actually work and how little they actually stay at camp half blood.
BIANCA DIDNT REALIZE THE EXTENT THAT SHE WAS LEAVING NICO AND NO ONE CORRECTED HER
Another reason I blame Artemis and not Bianca is be ARTEMIS IS A GODDESS. Bianca just met a goddess who saved her life. She is a terrified twelve year old. Was she just supposed to say no??? to an all powerful goddess she knows nothing about other than she just saved her life??
Bianca just watched a monster who looked like a trusted teacher tackle a girl barely older than herself off a cliff and vanish. She was probably in the most terrified state she had ever been in and Artemis just jumps in to make her a hunter (it also bothers me that all three girls in PJO we see become hunters, those girls being Zoe, Bianca, and Thalia, are all very young girls who join almost immediately after going through something awful, Zoe being betrayed by Hercules and Thalia being told that she either had to join the hunters or become the prophecy kid after she thought she just killed her childhood best friend, with no time truly think about their decision). Then Bianca was chosen by an authority figure she trusted to go on a quest that she didn’t understand with no training where she died.
Bianca was killed because those around her failed to teach her about being a halfblood and Artemis manipulated her by using power and fear against her so that she would join the hunters. I’m willing to bet that a lot of other demigod kids died for those same reasons.
- Luke can be blamed for a lot of things but starting a child army is not one of them, he didn’t create a child army he stole Chiron’s
I’m not going to get into all of my thoughts about what Luke does in the series bc we do not have time for that, so I’m going to explain what he didn’t do. He did not start a child army. The titan army was in part a child army, it was also a monster and god army, but there were a lot of child soldiers.
However, Luke was not the one to create an child army, Chiron did that. Camp Half-Blood is not as obvious as Camp Jupiter with the child army thing, but Chiron is known to train “heroes”. In pjo the gods are well aware that a war is coming and none of them try to stop it. Chiron is also aware that a war is coming, so the “heroes” he’s training are children he’s knowingly preparing for war.
Luke’s army is made from campers who defected from Chiron’s army, so Luke can’t be blamed for starting a child army, just for leading one, because that army is just made up of Chiron’s child soldiers.
- on that note Chiron sucks
- his favoritism and him ignoring the mental health of the campers is why the second titan war got as bad as it did
- It’s also the reason that Nico suffered as much as he did
Chiron has favorites. This is shown in the way that he personally advises some of the main characters (Percy and Annabeth) but others are left ignored. Not that this is referenced within the books bc Percy is the narrator and as a favorite who is only a seasonal camper, he is not in a position to recognize the favoritism. He also only trains a select few of them, Luke and other head counselors were the ones training kids. Now I understand that Chiron is only one person so he can’t train everyyone, but that’s just even more proof that the kids he trains are his favorites. As for ignoring the mental health of his campers, it is obvious that campers are not getting the help they need because of the actions they take throughout the series. (He locked Chris Rodriguez in a basement while he was having a mental break and a fouteen year old Clarisse was the one who looked after him, I think that says a lot)
My examples for this will be Nico and Luke bc I think they are the most extreme cases of this. When Bianca dies, Nico, a highly powerful, grieving, suicidal, ELEVEN YEAR OLD is homeless for an entire YEAR. Chiron never went looking for him, never provided him with healthy ways to grieve, and was more concerned with Nico being a child of Hades than he was with Nico being a hurting child who he was responsible for. Chiron never even helped to make him feel included at camp after the second titan war which made him run away again. Similarly, he never helped Luke through the grieving process. It was made clear in the books that, leading up to his betrayal (especially after his quest) Luke was not acting normal. Chiron never checked on him or tried to help him. Chiron was aware that there was a war coming and never thought to check on the campers who were very obviously not coping well mentally.
Imagine if you were Nico or Luke and the person you cared about more than anyone in the world died, and your new caretaker didn’t give a shit aside from general empathy that doesn’t actually help you in any way. Chiron is in charge of these kids. He’s supposed to RAISE these kids for their parents. He doesn’t do that, he raises some of them and leaves the rest to raise themselves and raise their siblings. If Chiron actually did his job, Luke might not have been Kronos’s pawn, way less campers would want to join the titan army, and Nico wouldn’t have ran after the first war, because they would have had a home with a stable parental figure who they trusted.
- By contrast I think that Mr. D is one of the most caring of the gods and the way he acts towards the campers is his loophole around Zeus’s rules
- Like he acts as a therapist for Nico and it’s implied that he does the same for other campers, he does care for them
Mr. D might act like he hates his job and hates the kids, but he is actively helping them in any way that he can while playing up that persona. And that persona is how he’s not getting in trouble with Zues, so long as he seems like he hates interacting with the kids he can keep doing it because Zues thinks it’s a punishment. He healed Chris, he plays games with campers, he PROVIDES THERAPY, HE CLAIMS ALL HIS KIDS. He does more than any other god, and more than Chiron does, for a lot of kids. I think that the reason it’s a little more difficult to tell with this is because he puts in a little less effort with Chiron’s favorites, who are the narrators and main characters so it’s their POV that we are getting, because he’s trying to help the campers who don’t have anyone else.
- Percy’s hatred of Luke is something I have a lot of thoughts on- I think it shapes a lot of his opinions of people and makes him oblivious to how similar he and Luke are/how much logic they share
- Like I think Thalia and Percy getting along is entirely dependent on Percy ignoring how intertwined Luke and Thalia’s lives were
- I don’t think Percy understands anyone grieving Luke and the only person he tries to be empathetic towards in regards to that grief is Annabeth
Percy tends to ignore Luke. After getting Luke a proper funeral because of a final heroic act that he respects, Percy never really thinks about Luke again. If he does, it’s not in a positive light. Him ignoring Luke is how he’s able not not see how similar their logic is. They share a lot of the same opinions about the gods, but bc of his fatal flaw Percy associates Luke with betrayal and war instead of their shared opinions. This also makes it hard for Percy to empathize with Luke, which causes the hatred and resentment, and makes it hard for him to understand those who grieve for him. An example of this being how he tries to empathize with Annabeth grieving for Luke without thinking about Luke as anything more than a person who hurt her and others.
If we apply this to Percy’s opinion and perception of Thalia, that means Percy has to ignore a huge part of her life in order to make his feelings about Luke make sense.
It’s said by Annabeth in the books that she thinks Percy and Thalia will either get along really well or try to kill each other, but the former is what actually happens after some time
Percy and Thalia get along on a personality level, but Percy is also shown to not understand why Thalia cares for/grieves Luke. In ttc he doesn’t understand and actually gets mad at her for crying over Luke while they’re on their quest to get Annabeth and Artemis back. Thalia is not Thalia without Luke just like how Luke is not Luke without Thalia. They grew up together, fought together, fought for each other, and care more deeply about each other than either is shown to care for anyone else. In fact the betrayal is the only thing that truly shifts those feelings. They are such important pieces in each other’s live that it took a war for their relationship to shift.
Percy doesn’t understand what Luke and Thalia were to each other and he doesn’t want to. He wants to be friends with Thalia, but he won’t compromise his opinion and ignorance of the person Luke was to do it. So he ignores how connected Luke and Thalia are in order to do just that.
- I don’t think it makes sense for Thalia as a character to stay a hunter after she learned Jason was alive
Thalia became a hunter for the immortality so that she wouldn’t have to become the child of the prophecy. I’ve already talked about how I think that Artemis manipulates young traumatized girls into joining the hunters, that combined with the fact that Thalia was very much against joining the hunters for all of ttc proves she never actually wanted to be a hunter. When she no longer has to worry about the prophecy and she gets her brother back, there is no way that she would choose the hunters, who she didn’t want to be a part of in the first place, over her family.
- I think a majority of camp half blood campers (like those who aren’t his friends) are afraid of Percy
Percy is objectively terrifying. He helped win two wars, survived tartarus, has threatened gods, was offered godhood, and has been described as looking incredibly intimidating. There is no way that campers who have never interacted with him before aren’t scared of him. And he’s a seasonal camper, he’s not around enough for most campers to have interacted with him so that they aren’t afraid of him.
- Will Solace hates Percy Jackson and you cannot convince me otherwise
Percy Jackson lead the two battles that ended in Will losing his older brothers. Are those deaths Percy’s fault, they aren’t, not really, but Will is a child who is going to blame someone. That someone is most likely going to be Percy because he was the child of the prophecy and because Percy was incredibly insistent that Will heal Annabeth during the battle of Manhattan while Michael Yew was MIA and dying.
Moving on to stuff that WAS Percy’s fault. Percy tried to strangle Nico di Angelo. It’s not that Nico wasn’t doing anything wrong, it’s not that Percy didn’t have a right to be mad. It’s that Percy was almost SIXTEEN and his response to and to Nico’s mistake was to strangle him. Nico was TWELVE. Yes he was wrong to do what he did, and yes Percy was still a kid, but a sixteen year old knows better, a twelve year old who’s incredibly mentally unstable and has been practically homeless for two years doesn’t.
Nico would tell his boyfriend what happened and Will would understand what was wrong with that situation even if Nico does not. Will would not forgive Percy for that, especially bc Percy has never tried to make it right. So yeah I think Will hates Percy.
- Cabin 11 never recovers from the second titan war and it is Hermes fault, Luke hurt them, Hermes’s actions made it so they would never recover
- I do not think a single child of Hermes likes their father, there will never not be resentment there
Cabin 11 shatters after the titan war. Luke raised and trained everyone in that cabin. They are probably never going to be trusted by the camp the same way ever again, they are probably never going to trust themselves and each other the same way ever again. After all of the hell that was the second titan war, Hermes doesn’t change. He doesn’t interact with them, or raise them, or even do anything more than claim them (which is a requirement because of Percy’s demands after the war). Cabin 11 breaks because of Luke’s betrayal and the war, but Hermes’ not changing his ways after all the pain he caused is what chatters them. And they all hate him for it.

Listening to The Way of Kings for the first time and it's really good and I like it a lot
One of the downsides is that I can't flip through and go reread a part when I feel like I've connected foreshadowing, so I'm probably going to end up buying it eventually.
Please if you respond to this post, no spoilers.
Thoughts at about 2/3 of the way through (very possible I'm spelling names wrong since I'm listening to the audiobook and not reading):
- loving the parallel experiences between Dalinar and Caladen and Caladen and Shalahn (protect your people, ethics of murder vs self defense vs seeking someone out to kill in self defense, etc).
- Why would Cabsall try and kill Yasna? He knew stealing her Soulcaster would start a war, what did he think would happen when they put it together that she had been assassinated?
- Shalahn, Dalinar and Caladen are the Radiants like.... Reincarnated, right? Or their descendents? Who are the other seven? I doubt it's Seth (Zeth? The narrator's pronunciation changes every time), but maybe? And Syl is... What, their mascot?
- I like the reimagining and enforcement of dumb gender roles, but how has it never occurred to someone like Dalinar that life would be so much fucking easier if he could read and write? He wouldn't have needed a scribe for the spanread with Yasna and could have spoken freely. He wouldn't need someone to read the book to him.
- Sometimes the combat scenes make me feel like I'm listening to Mistborn again because that was the first Sanderson book I listened to and he has such a distinctive style writing combat.
- I saw someone make a joke once that Patrick Rothfuss should give all his notes and drafts for Doors of Stone to Sanderson and he'd have it done in a few weeks and it'd be indistinguishable from Rothfuss's writing. I took it as a joke then because I'd never read anything from Brandon but they're right.
- This isn't going to end with a relatively nice bow of a resolution the way the first Mistborn did, is it?
- I literally gasped out loud when it was announced that Roshone was drafting Tian. I should have expected it but I didn't.
- Is Caladen really cursed to watch everyone he tries to help die, or is it just that he's a perfectionist and takes any loss as proof of a curse, even in situations where people dying was inevitable? Like that little girl he tried to save after she fell off a cliff, even his dad said there was nothing else he could have done, but he took it as his fault. He took Sen dying as proof, but it was said that his squad was like half kids who were too young/small to fight, so clearly some of them had been there for awhile without dying.
- Also I really like BS's commitment to writing about things like how nobility and common people interact, power structures, and God did I mention how much I love his combat narration
- Teft used to be a soldier. How does he recognize what Caladen is and how was it his fault that there's nobody left to inform (Heralds? Was that it?) Did he kill a Herald?

Sacrifice (Charlie Lonnit x G/N!Reader)
Tumblr media
This oneshot is for my friend @foxygamer713 who is also writing their own version of this oneshot idea. When I saw this Charlie death with the guilty trophy, it made me think of a oneshot idea where the reader saves Charlie but falls off the cliff instead with Du’Met! If any other the devil in me oneshot writers want to write their own version of this idea are welcome to! I would love to read them if you decide to!
◇◇◇
"Erin? Jamie, Kate!" Y/N shouted as they looked around for the three after they had gotten separated from them when they were running away from Du'Met, ending up climbing a tree to hide from the murderer.
After waiting a couple minutes to make sure that the coast was clear, Y/N decided to climb down and look for the others.
When they finally got to the clearing where the island lighthouse was, what they saw made them freeze.
Du'Met, who had a knife in his hand as he carved something onto Charlie's chest, who had a piece of paper coated in his own blood, stuffed into his mouth, muffling his painful screams.
But when he started to drag Charlie over to the edge of the cliff, that's when something inside of Y/N snapped.
"No!" They shouted as they bolted straight towards them, shoving Du'Met away from Charlie, but they didn't realize until too late that they were right by the edge of the cliff, so her and the murderer both fell over the edge and down the cliff.
"Y/N!" Was the last thing they heard as they fell into the freezing cold water while Du'Met hit the rocks at the base of the cliff.
Then everything went dark.
◇◇◇
Charlie felt his tears stream down his face as he tried to shout, the partial blood soaked paper preventing him from doing so as he tried to free himself, but also to no avail.
"Charlie!" Mark shouted as he and Erin rushed to his side, the camera man freeing him from his binds as Erin took the bloodied paper out from his mouth.
"Charlie, what happened?" She asked with concern as Kate and Jamie emerged from the woods, looking both concerned and confused as hell.
"Y/N... they tackled Du'Met..." the older man muttered as he tried to make his way towards the cliff after Mark untied him, but Jamie kept him back from the edge, not wanting him to fall off.
The group slowly approached the edge to see Du'Met's body lying motionless on the slabs of rock below, but Y/N's body was nowhere to be see.
"They... they could have landed in the water if they didn't hit the rocks, they could still be alive." Erin said as she refused to believe Y/N was dead.
"Let's hope so..." Kate muttered as they all watched as Du'Met sit up while looking up at them, causing Charlie and Mark to jump back away from the cliff.
"We have to go, now!" Jamie exclaimed as the group ran away from the cliff and down towards shoreline to find a boat and escape while they could.
◇◇◇
As the group made it down closer to the lake, pain started to spread across Charlie's chest, the adrenaline from everything that happened was starting to go away.
Hesitatly, he looked down at his chest, the bloody letters cut into his skin, spelling out the word 'Complicit'.
"Shit." He muttered, catching the other’s attention.
Kate walked over and helped Charlie sit down and check on his injuries while Mark went to go start the boat, Erin following behind him.
"They aren't super deep but they are going to need to get stitches and bandages." She muttered as she ripped Charlie's vest up into strips to use as something to wrap around his injuries since they didn't really have anything else to use.
"Once Mark starts the boat we should be able to make it to mainland in no time." Jamie said as she made her way over to the two.
"I'm sorry about Y/N Charlie, and I know your extremely pissed at Erin and Mark for leaving you outside, but I know Y/N wouldn't want you to blame them or yourself for what happened to them."
This made Charlie snap his gaze up to Jamie.
"I don't want to talk about it." He hissed as Kate finished up treating the cuts.
Jamie instantly regret talking about it right there, she could see how hurt Charlie was about what happened to Y/N.
She knew that he cared about them a lot, and for them to sacrifice themselves to save him.
She felt bad for him.
That's when Jamie noticed something lying a bit away from where they were.
Curious, she decided to take a closer look.
But when she got closer, she felt her heart stop when she realized it was Y/N.
So they did fall into the water.
"Y/N! I found them!" She shouted to Charlie and Kate.
Hearing Y/N's name, Charlie looked back to where Jamie was, his heart stopped when he saw Jamie kneeling next to Y/N, who was lying on the ground from washing ashore.
Not wasting any time, Charlie stumbled towards them and fell to his knees, right by their side.
"Y/N... please no..." Charlie mumbled as he rolled Y/N onto their back.
Their skin was sickly pale and they were completely drenched from falling into the water, and they weren't breathing which made Charlie panic.
Ignoring the pain in his hand and chest, Charlie began to perform cpr.
'Please... please don't leave me...' he thought as tears fell.
As each moment passed, he was closer and closer to giving up when all of a sudden, Y/N began to cough out water, gasping for air.
"Y/N." Charlie pulled them into a gentle hug while being careful of his injuries.
"Thank god, we thought we lost you there." Jamie said with a smile as her and Kate helped them up.
"Well, I'm alive..." They mumbled as they then looked at Charlie and felt tears start to build up, seeing how injured the man was.
"Charlie... I'm so-" but they were cut off as Charlie engulfed them into an endearing embrace.
"I thought I lost you..." he whispered as he buried his face in the crook of their neck while Y/N gently rubbed his back.
"I'm sorry Charlie... I didn't know what else to do, he would have killed you."
Charlie pulled away a bit and kissed the top of their head.
"But I almost lost you. Please promise me you won’t do something that reckless again."
Y/N nodded as they gave Charlie a smile before the four made their way towards the boat where Mark, Erin, and the dog, Connie, waited with the boat running.
They were finally going to be able to escape from the island.

Watching Halo Season 2, Episode 1
Here we go again! Things I’ve picked up from discussions leading up to this season: we’re starting off with a pretty major timeskip, The Fall of Reach is coming and is going to SUCK, bargain-bin Spartans are going to be invented, there’s a guy named Ackerson and he’s a weasel. Let’s be about it!
Cold open—it looks like the procedure to remove Cortana. Who’s crying? John? Cortana? The combined entity they became? (Is this a Tuvix situation?)
And since this is where the timeskip happens, I’ll go ahead and register my biggest complaint now. It’s actually the same complaint I had last season: rushing this into so few episodes is a mistake. In a show with room to breathe, the Cortana!Chief thing should have been a MINIMUM of three episodes: one where we see what that person is like, one about separating them, one about the repercussions. Minimum. Instead, it’s an entire arc about the one of the most impactful things that happens to John in his adult life… and it’s handwaved away in a timeskip to get back to the action. What an absolute waste.
After our cold open, we slam into a disorienting bit where it takes me too long to sort out when and where we are and what Silver Team’s status is. Riz is with them, and everyone’s voices have lost the flatness, so I’m assuming we’re all pellet-free now. (A moment later this is confirmed when Riz asks Vannak about his as if he’s the last holdout. He WATCHES NATURE DOCUMENTARIES NOW. “Animals ‘n stuff.” Oh, my heart.) Not sure exactly where Master Chief’s at emotionally, he seems distracted. They’re attempting to evacuate a civilian population before the planet gets glassed and it’s not going well.
Marines are not getting through to the leaders—is this another opposition planet or just full of stubborn people? (Also, one of the marines is called Shepard—is that a name I should know? Or wait, is that one of the Mass Effect guys?) Hey, it’s the mystical old woman from the trailer! She tries to spar verbally with Master Chief and he doesn’t respond. You need to make Kai the face of the party, bro, her Charisma score is way higher than yours.
Some marines are missing, so Master Chief goes off to retrieve them. Or should I say up, as in up a sheer cliff face, allowing Vannak to drop cool facts about the Nubian Ibex and I would like to adopt him now. Chief finds them after a brief friendly-fire incident. They explain they’re a comms team. “I could tell by your aim.” Ouch.
Aaaaand RIP the smart one who didn’t want to move. This ‘out of the fog’ stuff is some horror-movie shit right here. Wait, the Covenant have personal cloaking devices now? Don’t like that. Chief needs one of those glowing blades, they seem very useful. Verbatim from my notes at this point: “It’s nice they only attack one at a time. OR NOT F*CK” as the VERY EFFECTIVE shot with all the blades lighting up around them happened.
I was trying to figure out how John was going to get out of this (my guess was Sudden Kai Appearance) when the Covenant guys all just… vanished? Why? And again, just a second later I got to write OH SHIT GLASSING. Turns out that’s why.
He manages to save just the one marine and heads back to the rendezvous point, just in time to catch a Foretelling of Doom from the mystical old lady before she goes to commit suicide. Huh, I thought she’d last longer.
Aaaand shower scene, lol. You’re not beating the ‘Master Cheeks’ rep like this, buddy.
Debrief—as a side note, Kai’s colorful hair is gone, which makes me very sad. Also, congrats to the FX department on making Riz’s scars truly gnarly looking. (And thanks to the showrunners for not chickening out and giving her ‘pretty girl scars’ or something.) Anyway, a bunch of other planets also got glassed while they were gone, including Madrigal.
Another pause for a broader point here—I don’t like that. I realize that Kwan was widely disliked by Old Guard fans last season, but the point of her storyline seemed to be that the planet itself was important. I don’t like the idea that they backpeddled so severely in response—stand by your creative choices! And again, given the import of the planet last season, glassing it in a timeskip is a poor storytelling move. (Also, you’d think the Covenant would be a little warier of glassing planets they KNOW have connections to the Halo, at least until they’ve really, really thoroughly checked them out… but I digress.)
Back to the debrief. John is trying to convince Keyes and the team that something’s up with how the Covenant behaved on Sanctuary, but Keyes at the very least isn’t buying it. Some rando appears—oh, it’s Ackerson, who ATBNL says is a weasel. He’s certainly living up to his rep immediately. My baby Kai clocks it right off: “Sir, if I may, who the hell is this guy?” LOL. Apparently, he’s Halsey’s replacement. Mostly this makes sense, but where’s Miranda? Did she resign? Is she being punished for her association to Halsey? Keyes seems to have escaped that... (Ackerson specifically references Halsey’s own consequences and there’s a very awkward look at Keyes, lol.)
Ackerson’s speechifying and it’s pretty clear he’s mostly here to flex by showing he can drop in on them like this. He calls each member of the team by name(+number) and makes it clear he knows their records, but he only calls John “Master Chief”, which I found a little odd. There’s an ominous little exchange about the Spartans’ importance to the public: “They feel safe.” “Are they?” And finally after he leaves, Kai pushes Keyes for a bit more of an explanation. “He’s the boss,” Keyes says shortly. He doesn’t make it sound like a good thing.
Hey, it’s Rubble! Wtf is this? A slave auction? A fighting ring? Wtf, Soren, I thought better of you. (I am perhaps naïve.) Apparently it’s a “2 years’ indentured service” auction. This is how they’re absorbing some of the refugees from Madrigal (and possibly other places? Idk) This redhead (Felix?) says he’s got a line on how to find Halsey. I think Soren’s biting, even though he’s playing it cool. What does Laera think of all this?
Meanwhile in Ackerson’s office, the surviving comms tech—Perez—is being debriefed when John drops by to try and convince Ackerson of his concerns. John and Perez share a look, and possibly a flashback, of the Fog Fight. John gets a little chatty trying to draw Ackerson out with their shared combat experience. Ackerson gets weird about things, asking about hallucinations and John’s mental state. Did Perez and the others not see what John saw? Yikes, if so. Or is Ackerson just playing some political game? Blowing the Master Chief off and flexing his power over him is stupid if he wants the Master Chief’s cooperation. And I have to believe he needs it at least a little—surely he rises or falls on the Spartans’ performance, just as Halsey and Parangosky did?
Back on Rubble, Kessler is in a toy Master Chief helmet with a little toy Spartan. (The props department must have been delighted to get to just go to Target and pick that up, lol.) (Also, there’s a lot going on with your choices there, Soren…) Kessler’s upset over something. Soren puts his foot in it with Laera, and she calls him out on it, bless her. I love you, Laera. Laera tells Soren they need to get the hell out of Dodge, and I think Soren should listen. But I don’t think he will.
Perez gets a medal (while *two* shirtless Spartan dudes watch it on TV, welcome Vannak *eyeroll*). She looks deeply uncomfortable. Another Spartan team, Cobalt, comes in—hey, there ARE more of them! (Are all their names metals in this timeline?) Aaaand they are weirdly hostile to Silver Team, apparently on account of… Silver Team having taken their pellets out? That is deeply weird. First of all, how are they CAPABLE of being weirdly hostile over the pellet issue if they still have their own pellets? And secondly, how is it that Silver Team cared about all these revelations about Halsey and their shared pasts and the other Spartans just… don’t? Or am I missing something here? Cobalt’s headed out on a mission that sounds eerily like the doomed comms team’s Fog Fight. John tries to give them a heads up.
He also goes straight to Ackerson and tries to get HIM to give Cobalt Team a heads up. Ackerson is again weird and very hostile. He distrusts John’s report because of the Sangheili just leaving bit, and blows off John’s very reasonable request to warn Cobalt that something weird may be up. Again, I don’t understand Ackerson’s game here. It would have cost him nothing to agree to John’s face—or honestly, even to pass on his concerns, which really do amount to nothing more than “watch out for something hinky”.
Rubble again. Soren’s prepping to head out and he and Kessler chat. Kessler’s worried about a monster, Soren refuses to reassure him completely, which Kes, like any smart kid, immediately clocks. The whole scene is just dripping in THIS IS BAD foreshadowing. Soren’s crew has Felix the redhead, but they’re confused that Soren’s coming along to check out his tip?
John is trying to be all stealthy in a hoodie out in the city, which suddenly looks 75% less Solarpunk Utopia and 75% more Cyberpunk than when we saw it with Makee. Parangosky meets up with him—he doesn’t seem to be expecting her specifically, so what did he expect? Did she resign or was she discharged (or court-martialled?) What power does she still have to help? Who are her allies? Good on John for having grown enough to attempt to negotiate, but that exchange—  “What will you give me?” “I’ll believe you.”—was killer. She absolutely has his number there.
On Soren’s ship, Felix is telling the full version of his tip about Halsey, and WHAM, we come out into a debris field with a destroyed ship. Soren’s dragging Felix along, the kid’s chatty and nervous. The microgravity effects are pretty good, well thought-out. Felix will not shut up and is putting his foot in it. Ooooh, pressurized door in a vacuum issues! I love this show. Crap, it was all a set up. Soren’s arrested. Who’s going to tell Laera and Kessler? What will Laera do?
John’s (still? Back?) undercover, going to… what looks like a futuristic phonesex establishment? … to pretend he’s talking to Cortana. God, this scene was sad. They packed what, again, should have been an arc into about three sentences and a choice of medium/location. As I said last season, they do a brilliant job fitting everything in with clever and efficient writing. Finally he has another Fog Fight Flashback, this time with Makee?
And we wrap up with mixed flashes—John, Laera and Kessler getting the news that Soren “died”, and Kessler running off to see… Kwan, hiding in one of the caves of Rubble.
Wow, there's a lot going on here! I can't wait to see what's next.

upside down concept where will and mike were stuck in the upside down and they're hiding out in the library (bc the library has a lot of importance and i can't wait to find out what importance. also the library is empty bc they killed the demogorgon who had been sticking its victims in the library and demogorgons are probably territorial or something) and they're sitting there, backs against a bookshelf. will despised being back in the upside down, every moment reminding him of that week in 1983.
will absentmindedly said, "this is where they found me."
"what?" mike asked, confused by the abrupt change in topic.
"when mom and hopper saved me from the upside down. this is where i was," will elaborated.
"oh." mike's voice shrunk. "why are we in here then? we can go somewhere else."
will shrugged. "it's fine. this place is safe." he pushed away the memories.
they both sat in silence. mike didn't know what to say.
will took a deep breath. "my heart had stopped."
"what?" it sounded like someone had sucker punched mike.
"hopper used cpr on me. i guess i probably wasn't dead," will mused.
will didn't dare look over at mike, not yet. he wasn't done.
"there was a vine, or something. and it went..." will tried to stop his voice from shaking. where had his initial apathy gone? "it..."
"will, stop," mike said softly. "you don't... you don't have to say any more."
will nodded wordlessly. he wanted nothing more than for mike to wrap will in his arms. he just wanted to be held. he just wanted to collapse into someone. he wanted to feel loved, even if it was just for a moment. maybe he could even pretend it was in the way he wanted it to be.
"when you were... gone..." mike started, clearing his throat. he sounded as steady as will felt, which was to say that he sounded terrified. "there was a situation. troy threatened to hurt dustin. he told me to jump off a cliff. and i didnt... i didn't know what to do."
will watched mike patiently, and mike glanced over, hands gesturing.
"it was already my fault that you were gone-"
will opened his mouth to protest but mike stilled him with a look.
"-or at least that's what i thought. you were riding home from my house. i blamed myself. and i just couldn't let another one of my friends get hurt." mike swallowed, and the noise seemed to echo in the stillness of the dark library. "so i... i took a step. i - fuck - i jumped off a cliff."
will put a hopefully comforting hand on mike's leg.
"el saved me. obviously, i'm not dead." mike laughed, but it didn't sound like he found it funny. "but, um, yeah."
mike's eyes darted down to where will's hand was still on his knee, and will moved to take his hand away, but mike stopped him. he took will's hand and threaded their fingers together.
"i'm so glad that hopper saved you. i don't know what i would've done otherwise."
will wanted to make a wisecrack about how mike would've been a mess, but he just couldn't seem to get his mouth to work properly. whether this was because of the somber topic and solemn confessions, or because mike was fucking holding his hand, he wasn't sure.
"and i'm glad that el saved you," will croaked.
instead of saying anything, mike just scooted closer to will. will leaned his head against mike's shoulder.
they probably needed to talk. there was a lot to talk about. but this was not the place nor the time, so they simply sat, mike rubbing his thumb along will's hand, and will leaning against mike's side.

Mike Wheeler IS the Heart (part 2)
I had to split this into two parts because it was getting long but in this essay I will explain why I think Mike Wheeler is the heart of the party.
Part One Here
I do agree that Will's perspective of Mike will obviously influence the things he says, feels and thinks about Mike and that's including his "heart of the group" speech but I genuinely believe it past Will's perspective. I wouldn't even be writing this if people weren't calling Mike all kinds of rude names: Wet Sock, Wet Blanket, he's NOT the heart, he's the worst lol like I can't.
When I hear someone say "the heart of the group", what I think that means is someone who is depended on, someone who holds the group together, who may be the leader, who will do whatever they can to protect those they love. They aren't perfect and if anything, they may take their mistakes or things they couldn't succeed in doing the hardest. They are the ones that the others will look to in hard times or for answers and/or support. Maybe they make the final decisions or they're the ones who make the plans.
Tumblr media
Mike (The Paladin)- Mike IS the heart of the party, as well as the leader.
I think this is shown in every season in various ways. In the introduction, we see him being the Dungeon Master, just as we do at the end, which indicates his role in the group of being the leader. Even when he tries to appeal to his mom to let them continue playing, Lucas and Dustin tell Will not to worry about his bad roll because Mike didn’t see it. Mike watches as his friends ride away on their bikes, to at least make sure they start their journey safely. He meets Eleven and immediately wants to help her, he goes right into caregiver mode, develops a clear crush on her, but that doesn’t change his mission of finding and saving Will, he just now has another person who could be in trouble. When he finds out she recognized Will AND has powers, instead of trying to “send her back to where she came from”, he welcomes her into their party and shows her a love she’s never experienced before, kindness- without expecting anything back from her. He’s also more willing to accept the things that Eleven tells him, he’s the most open-minded of the group. All throughout S1, he’s trying to accommodate everyone. Even though he and Lucas argue a lot about Eleven, he continuously tries to pacify Lucas’ concerns by telling him that she can help them and he wasn’t wrong.
Tumblr media
Mike also doesn’t hesitate.
This is shown when he was prepared and DID jump off the cliff to save Dustin, he yelled at Eleven for hurting Lucas, he confronted Troy and his friend for laughing at Will’s memorial at the school. He reassures Dustin that he is also his best friend, there isn’t a hierarchy in his friendships. He told the bad men that they would have kill him to get to Eleven and he never stopped fighting when they were being held back. Eleven called for him. While Mike tends to wear his emotions on his sleeve, he also doesn’t talk about them as much as he’s prepared to take in others emotions and concerns. Even talking about them is difficult, this is shown when Nancy asks him if he likes Eleven, whenever Lucas or Dustin would accuse him of liking her, and when he tries to tell Eleven about his feelings and the SnowBall dance.
He has a hard time (this is a character trait) expressing himself sometimes. Being a creative writer, or a creative thinker doesn’t mean that the personal stuff is easy to share… As someone who is a creative writer, my emotions are internal and I don’t always share what I’m feeling but I’m the one that people do that with.
Tumblr media
In season 2, Mike is depressed after seeing Eleven disappear before his eyes and he’s acting out but while doing that, he’s still attentive to his friends, especially Will, since Mike can tell that he is still being affected due to his time in the Upside Down. People like to use him doing this as this was when he was at best… So Mike was at his best when he’s supporting Will? Got it.
But no one cares that Mike was going through it, to see this kid, who is a good natured kid, acting out and NO ONE is trying to get to the root of it but here he is, giving all of himself to his friend who is also suffering. He needs someone to lean on but remains the person that others can lean on. He does share with Will a little bit and tells him they can go crazy together, meaning that Will is dealing with his issues of his "hallucinations" and Mike is dealing with sensing, missing and thinking he's seeing Eleven... they can go crazy together. That's all.
But he’s sidelined in this season because he’s playing emotional support. Remember when Will was possessed and Mike realized that he was tricking them to get those soldiers killed and without hesitation he tried to warn them? Remember how Mike covered his ears as his friend screamed that he was lying? Then in the shed sequence, which is one of my favorite sequences, he tearfully tells Will that meeting him was important to him, “the best thing I ever did”? Trying to find Will in the darkness, here is this 12-13 year old kid, trying to save his friend from the darkness while also fumbling through his own. THEN even after having a breakdown when he finds out that Hopper kept Eleven a secret (after that adorable reunion scene), he still is willing to fight the demodogs, it was his plan to lure the demodogs away from the lab so Hopper and Eleven could get to the gate.
Tumblr media
Finally, FINALLY, he gets the thing he's wanted... to dance with Eleven at the Snow Ball.
Tumblr media
In Season 3, sure, Mike and Eleven spent a lot of time together, but I don’t think they’re wrong for wanting to. They’ve cared for each other for a while but they couldn’t be together in S2 because Hopper didn’t allow Eleven to talk to Mike in S2, so he didn’t even know she was okay. But now they’re together and they’re happy. Yeah sure, he was a little ass to Hopper but Hopper wasn’t helping the situation. He’s so yelly. Then instead of actually being an adult and talking to these teenagers, he threatens Mike, who then lies to Eleven and is mentally beating himself up about it the entire season, and MIKE is the bad guy? When he hurts Will’s feelings, he immediately apologizes even though Will doesn’t apologize for calling Eleven a “stupid girl that Mike swaps spit with”. Mike chases after Will in the pouring rain to apologize for not taking his campaign seriously. He even noticed when Will reacted to feeling the Mind Flayer again at the beginning. Mike was the only one to tell Max to get away from the window after HIS plan worked to see if Billy was indeed possessed. He was the ONLY one who tried to help Eleven when Billy was attacking them. Even though they were broken up, he was still there for her to hold on to.
In the cabin, he was rightfully angry at the others for carelessly pushing Eleven to use her powers and potentially overexerting herself, he tells her she doesn’t have to do this, he tells Max that she’s being careless, but no one is on his side. The only person on his side this season is Lucas.
Tumblr media
Mike accidentally confesses his love for Eleven while simultaneously trying to make a case for the others not to just USE her. When Eleven is attacked in the cabin, once again he acts without hesitation and he’s always the one she lands on. He’s got her. During the battle of Starcourt Mall, he is literally by Eleven and Max’s side the entire time. Billy attacks Max, Mike immediately charges at him, no hesitation.
Tumblr media
Let’s not act like Mike was out of character in this season because he wasn’t all up in Will’s business every 5 minutes. I was glad for that actually. But this seems to be the reason why people are like “S3 Mike is the worst!” But he’s literally the same character, he’s just changing and growing up, making mistakes and choices like everyone else. He’s a round character! Hey may not get all the attention I think he should but that doesn’t make him the worst.
Tumblr media
In season 4, Mike is in high school, his girlfriend and one of his best friends has moved away. He goe to California to visit Eleven and The Byers, but while there, he finds out that Eleven has been lying to him, trying to make him not worry about her, Will and Mike’s friendship seems to have drifted. Eleven feels unloved because Mike has a hard time SAYING it but he does it with acts of service, by bringing her the flowers she missed in her favorite colors while also WEARING her favorite colors. Without hesitation, he tells her that he says it. He even tells her without hesitation that he doesn't believe that she’s a monster, those people don’t know her like he does. When she gets arrested, he’s right there at the window, trying to get her to look at him, trying to reassure her that she’ll be okay, that he’s going to get her out. When she’s being taken away again, this boy senses the car with her in it (something that’s been shown many times), and chases after her without hesitation. When Owens sends his people, Mike is more worried about the ones in Hawkins, his family, and wants them to protect them, not the California crew. He and Will have a talk and he tells him that he didn’t mean to be distant, but having their group split up, having both Will and Eleven gone, it was weird. A nice small moment for Mike to share his feelings and for someone to listen to him. There are a couple of other times where we see Mike’s emotions clearly on his face but he quickly schools into a brave face when he notices he’s being watched. He’s trying to be strong.
So since this is already long and the van scene has had a ton of great pieces written about it, ( I can give my thoughts on it another time), but all I will say is this… just because Mike didn’t say anything to Will while he was crying doesn’t mean he ignored him. Mike who has been pretty attuned to all of his friends, I think has a good idea of how they are.
Tumblr media
In the past, when Will was hiding, people didn’t notice something was wrong. Like it’s been said, Will is good at hiding and he was intentionally hiding his sobbing from Mike, his fucking head was turned, he tried not to make any noise and covered his mouth. Mike probably didn’t realize he was crying and even if he did realize he was crying, Will looked like he was trying to hide it… what was Mike going to do? “Hey.. why Will are you crying??” out loud in front of Jonathan and Argyle? I bet you that if they were at the Byers house, Will would have went into another room, or his own bedroom to cry so no one would see it. If Will wasn’t trying to hide it, then he wouldn’t have turned away, he would have just cried. He’s done it plenty of times in front of Mike. NOT to mention, he probably didn't understand why Will would be emotional because as far as Mike knows, Will was talking about Eleven not her and himself. Why would he know that? BUT ALSO, Will just gave Mike a pep talk, one that he needed to help reassure Mike as he’s done for literally everyone else who needed reassuring. So maybe,  just maybe even though my heart breaks for Will, it’s not him that Mike HAS to be thinking about at that moment.
Tumblr media
When Mike finds Eleven, after spotting her in the desert, he breaks when he gets to her. He’s been strong up to this point, dependable, he suggested going to see Suzie, he was the one reading the map… Now he can break. Only to go right back into being strong again, making sure Eleven has what she needs for her bath. Then of course his confession, no matter how cheesy, it meant something to Eleven and gave her the extra push she needed.
Mike is the paladin, what are they? Knights. What do knights do? They protect those around them. They are sometimes the ones in the front, leading the rest of the army, helping without hesitation. Even though Eleven is the one with the powers and ultimately leads the charge, Mike is right there with her, leading the others as the paladin, supporting the hero. And even though Eleven is the one with the power, she still turns to Mike for help and he does without hesitation.
Mike may not make all the choices that YOU think are right at that moment, but I think he does a damn good job for a teenager. He does not hesitate. He’s been supportive and strong of everyone that we hardly got to ever see him talk to anyone about what he’s feeling, he’s just expected to be on 100 all the time for everyone else. ESPECIALLY Will, since people seem to think that he’s a precious baby who needs to be coddled.
It’s not fair to Mike that so much is expected of him and he has to act like he has it all together…  but because it is and he doesn’t… that’s what makes him the heart of the party. The others will look to him when they need to and he has found a way to support them, without hesitation. I think that is the epitome of being the heart of the party. He's the emotional center, the one that everyone can turn to and lean on and he's always there when he's needed the most.
It's long but I had a lot to get out. This can go hand in hand when people also say that Mike is useless which is also untrue. So... yeah... tldr... Will is the eyes. Dustin is the brain. Lucas is the arms/strength. Max is the legs. Eleven is the literal power. Mike is the heart.

Binary Stars' Impact: AKA have a random drabble based on a Worldless × Genshin Crossover Idea I had.
@arandompeep this is based off our conversation we had... and I had to write a little thingy based on this, so I hope you enjoy!
She's still alive?
Disoriented, Edda glanced around, noting how... bright this place was. Even if it was somewhat dark, she could still tell that it was much more colourful than all the places she's been to. She also noticed that there was no eye watching from above, were They dead? How long has it been both her and Aven's battle with that god? Instead, she noticed a small, silver crescent-shaped thing in the sky.
She got up, still a bit disoriented and looked around, she seemed to be in some sort of field near a cliff, with a giant tree directly in front of said cliff. This... didn't really looked like any place she knew, and the last thing she remembered was fighting They with Aven. Wait...
Aven! Where was he? She remembered watching him sacrificing himself to save her, yet she still couldn't believe that he's mostly likely dead. She looked around, looking for any fluttering scarf or a clawed hand, anything. But she couldn't see anything. Defeated, she slumped to the floor with a sign, she didn't want to be alone here! She doesn't even know what this place is, nor the danger that lurks here, There could be things that could very well kill her!
Then she heard a very faint, yet familiar, chirp.
A bit startled, she glanced around, trying to find the source of the sound, then she noticed a dim orange glow near the gigantic tree. A bit relieved yet confused, she carefully walked towards the tree. It was a bit of a trek, but she managed to get there rather quickly.
It was Aven! Albeit he looked to be in pretty bad shape, lying in a fetal position and some orange sparks still appearing from the area he was stabbed. She tried to walk towards him as quietly as possibly, before chirping. He looked towards her, stiff and weak, before letting out a soft, hoarse chirp. Okay, he's not in any shape to be able to stand up or even walk with his injury. So Edda decided on the second best thing, maybe she could set camp here, since they're both safe from the weather due to the tree, and there's most likely stuff for making a campfire here too.
So she went out to collect stones and sticks, making sure to not stray too far from Aven, she didn't want anything sneaking up on neither Aven nor herself, and she definitely didn't want anything to hurt him. After a surprising successful trip (Turns out if the stones and sticks are a different colour from the grass, they're much easier to find), she immediately started preparing the campfire.
While placing the sticks in the ring of stones, Aven chirped again. "What's wrong?" She chirped in reply. "Nothing much," he replied, "Just a bit freaked out about this place, and still in a bit of pain." "Well, at least we have each other," Edda chirped, placing the final sticks into the campfire, "Even in unfamiliar lands, we won't be separated and I will try to find help if you need it." Aven gave a soft chuckle, before chirping, "You're still as determined as always, and that made me feel a bit better. Thank you." "You're welcome," she chirped in replied, finally starting the fire, "I'll stand guard to make sure there's no threats, you can rest for tonight. You're injured, so please don't do anything dumb if I do accidentally fall asleep." "Alright, alright!" He laughed a bit, "I'll fall asleep. Good night."
With that, he curled up, stab wound still sparking slightly. Granted, he already looks a lot better now, but she won't risk him trying to walk with that sort of injury still. Edda stared at him for a moment, before turning her gaze towards the campfire, before finally looking out at the scenery. This place was oddly beautiful, the grasses and trees were swaying gently in the wind, and the unfamiliar sky sparkles with dots of light. There's also the quiet chirping of some sort of creature, and some vaguely void butterfly-like creatures glowing a soft cyan. It almost reminded her of home, but that feels to far away now, so she should try to focus on the present. So she looked out into the beyond for the night, watching for danger as her only friend rests in an unfamiliar world.
Although, it did seemed as if she did fell asleep, as next thing she knew, she was hearing the sounding of Aven's fire abilities, clanking of metal and yelling. Startled, she got up and was immediately greeted by the sight of a bunch of weird creatures trying to attack Aven, while Aven is desperately trying to defend himself using his fire skills and claws. She quickly summoned her sword and shield, and darted towards the floating, red-and-black creature with the pointy face. It yelled something in an oddly watery-sounding voice, before summoning a sphere that is almost certainly a shield. Of course, she guessed what to do and decided on one option: Use her ice abilities, and the moment that shield goes down, use her sword and all other attacks to get rid of that one quickly, especially since it seemed to be the one in charged.
She summoned a brush of Frost aimed at that creature, catching it off-guard and almost instantly breaking its shield, before almost finishing it off with a few blows from her sword. Of course, she tried to use her absorption skill on it as usual. Except... nothing happened. That's weird, maybe she wasn't focusing enough? She tried again, but it also didn't work. Okay, seems like creatures from this world can't be absorbed. So she decided to finish it off for good using her lightning skill.
One down, at least 5 more to go.
She then turned her attention towards the maned, brown creatures without faces. They seemed to have a lot of weapons, including axes, bows and weird... red blob things? Okay, she was in a unfamiliar world so she should had expected that... but still. She immediately targeted the blob throwing ones, as they seemed the most dangerous out of the bunch. With a lot of ice attacks, sword slashes and arrows, she managed to take them down one at a time, while Aven himself also use his fire, wind and claws attacks to prevent them from getting to close.
Then right as she was about to finish off one of the blob-throwers, a large, almost vortex-like gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, sending her flying into the tree. Great.
They noticed the creatures immediately turned their attention to whatever (or whoever) created said vortex and before they knew it, all they could see within the frenzy was blades seemingly made from cyan energy, bursts of water and a black and purple bird seemingly able to conduct electricity.
And as suddenly as it happened, it stopped. Edda looked to where the commotion was, and there were four figure, all seemingly wearing something covering almost their entire bodies and definitely not shapes, unlike Aven and herself. They seemed to be discussing something, and seemed to be pointing at the sky, before pointing towards the cliffs she woke up at. Ah great, they managed to get the locals attention!
She stared at the strange beings for a second, before cautiously walking out from the tree's shade and giving a soft chirp. The beings all proceeded to stare right at her, their... eyes being rather confused and shocked? They looks so much like her kind yet are so different at the same time it's almost... scary. Neither party haven't moved nor spoke, only staring at each other for a very long time. It's only when Aven made a rather curious yet stressed chirped was Edda's attention drawn to him, and the beings finally said something.
"There's two of them?!" The one with light yellow hair shouted, that one reminds her of Aven, especially in appearance. Wait no, that's not the one with the light hair. Instead, it's a extremely small, floating being with a halo on their head, their voice extremely high-pitched and squeaky, "You know, didn't Katheryne and Jean mentioned that there were two meteors a few nights ago that were blue and orange?"
Wait... they've both been in this place for a few days?! How did nothing happened to either of them?
The one with long, light yellow hair and dark cloth-things, walked towards her, before they bowed and spoke, "I, Fischl, Prinzessin der Verurteilung, welcome you. Are you two travellers from another world? If so, tell us what to call you." "She means 'hello, can you tell us who you are?', if you couldn't tell," the black-and-purple bird translated with one wing pointed at "Fischl." She stared all of them for a moment, wondering if they could understand her, before chirping, "My name is Edda."
"Tsk, it can't talk," said the one with the large cyan hat, with arms folded, "Are you even sure that these two are the weird meteors people have seen?" "Shut it! They could possibly understand us!" The one with two different eye shades barked. Of course, she can understand them, it's just that there's a very big language barrier, and it's definitely one-sided.
Aven, who was clutching his chest and panting slightly, seemed to perked up a bit as the strangers talk about them. He stared at them for a moment, before getting an idea: Since they can "talk" to the ancients easily even though there's a somewhat difficult language barrier via "mind talking", he could theoretically use it on them... although that could freak them out a bit.
So gathering all his courage and energy, he chirped, "Her name is Edda, and we CAN understand you!"
Everyone went dead silent, Edda staring at him in confusion and the strangers seemingly a bit startled. The small floating one was the first to break the silence, "You... can talk?" "Yes, I can," he replied, leaning against the tree and checking if he accidentally made his wound worse, "Edda could as well, but I guess it might be a bit scary, considering that it's like you suddenly hear a strange voice inside your head, and it's not yours."
"Okay... so... What's your name?" The floating one continued, floating a bit closer to them. "I'm Aven," he replied, "Of course, Edda is the one that's standing in front of you. Who are you?"
The little being floated back to the group before introducing themself, "This is Paimon!" She then points to the others, "That's Aether, Fischl, Furina and Wanderer." The blue hat one, named Wanderer, then commented, "So... you're the only one that can talk here or can 'Edda' also talk? Plus, you can call me anything you want, just don't disappoint me." The way he phrased that made Aven tensed up a little bit, but granted, they all seemed to be pretty good people, so maybe 'Wanderer' is a little blunt.
He chirped to Edda, "They can understand us if we mind-talk to them." She nodded, before introducing herself, "I am Edda, and it's nice to meet all of you." Aven could tell that she cringed a little bit at the last part, but at least that's a start?
Paimon waved at them, before talking, "If you'll like, we can carry you to Mondstadt so you can rest and we can help Aven!" Edda was a bit glad that they caught on to Aven's injury, but she didn't know if she could risk accidentally causing further damage to him while carrying him. "That sounds nice... how far is it though?"
"It's not too far from here!" Paimon chimed, "In fact, it's a very straightforward trip: you only have to travel Northwest. Although if you'll like, we can show you the path!" Edda thought about it for a moment, before chiming back, "Okay, I guess we'll go with you. Every one of you seem to know this land well, so I trust all of you that there would be not much danger, especially since my friend here is injured."
"Don't worry! We all have it covered!" Paimon beamed, Edda could get used to her squeaky voice, she seemed to be rather excited for everything. Edda walked towards Aven, before chirping, "Aven, I know this would be a but awkward, but I might have to carry you all the way to Mondstadt. Would that be okay?" "Of course, if it means help, then I'm in!" He replied.
With a sign, she hefted Aven onto her shoulder, before turning around and chirping, "Okay, we're ready." As they trekked to the city with their new companions, Edda couldn't help but be thankful that even in a scary world that's nothing like her homeland, she still have her friend, Aven, and people who would gladly help them even if they seemed strange compared to them.

You should talk about antar from dnd on here due to they are neat
FINE but only if you finally run that gondolin campaign and give me an excuse to PLAY THEM AGAIN (threat (affectionate))
okay!! so antar is one of two (2) tolkien ocs i have, both made for d&d purposes. they’re a character i made for a fall of gondolin one-shot game that jaz ran one time. being a fall of gondolin one-shot, the idea was that we were all going to die horribly, it was really just a matter of how.
something that should probably be known about me: i keep wanting to make d&d characters to have get killed off dramatically, but i literally never can, because i get way too fucking attached to them.
so therefore, this is fun, right! i get to make a fun little doomed character, they get to die horribly, i am not going to have them long-term so it literally doesn’t matter!! blorbo for my torture!!
i rolled antar up like an hour, not even, before this game. i chose everything about them to be about as doomed as possible. i even gave them the oathsworn background!!! and, at jaz’s absolutely evil suggestion, to which i went oh that would be SO bad for them,
i had them swear two oaths.
one, they are oathsworn to turgon, to protect gondolin at all costs.
two, they are oathsworn in complete and absolute loyalty to maeglin.
(over the two hours in question, i would come to frequently and almost exclusively refer to maeglin as “my son, who is also my boss.”)
i spent the entire two hours wondering how, exactly, this was going to play out, which oath they were going to inevitably break, what they would do when confronted with what maeglin had done.
well.
antar sees maeglin on the cliff with earendil.
drops literally everything to try to get to him immediately.
gets there, and realizes that morgoth has done something to his mind.
tries at first to convince him that he’s safe, that they’ll protect him from literal morgoth himself if they must.
and when that fails.
declares that they will prove that he is safe.
and immediately breaks their oath to the entire city to defend maeglin, genuinely believing that they could save him, and save everyone.
understandably, they then immediately took twenty shadow points at once, in a game where straight-up murder makes you take five, and then naturally proceeded to die falling off of said cliff.
also understandably, they then immediately proceeded to make me insane about them forever.
several weeks later, they would still be living in my brain enough for me to decide that, as a member of turgon’s guard, they bore extremely direct witness to eol’s attempted murder of maeglin/successful murder of aredhel, and probably also eol’s subsequent execution. they were extremely affected by watching a child lose both of his parents in one of the most traumatizing ways possible and just. sorta decided that anything this kid needs, they’re there for. truly i do not want to backstory build deeper than that until i get to play them more, because it’s more fun for me if things come up naturally, but they’re an absolute thembo ridden with a deep and unshakable responsibility complex who has just absolutely mentally adopted this poor kid. they’re the house of the mole’s secretary. they’re a polite ball of sunshine. they will kill for you if they love you. and now jaz uses them whenever maeglin needs to have a secretary in fics, which is truly the highest honor.
and @ jaz for asking me this, actually let me play them more i WILL break into your apartment and start getting the dice out myself this is a THREAT <3
