#i really like this book #also (a) 'sherlock' can't leave london #so it's 'watson' and moriarty on the adventure #watson being an unregistered hellhound and in disguise to boot #moriarty being a vampire who impulsively made watson #part of his clan basically #to get them both out of a hostage situation #during the agra treasure incident #they're there to solve the mystery so they can get moriarty's sister #who's been falsly accused #out of trouble #also this book is doing a grand job of calling out the racism #while still keeping the (au but still) #setting intact #(human racism. fantastical racism gets explored. #as well as other isms: crow #(sherlock) #is genuinely perplexed why doyle couldn't marry mary morstan #though i suspect she may turn up again #doyle didn't actually *talk* to mary #just told her it would never work #) #oh anyway moriarty seems genuinely dismayed #that doyle doesn't like him all that much #this is going to get interesting
