Your Fault.
guilt arc guilt arc GUILT ARC GUILT ARC
I know I may dream but I think Sonic should go through a depression/guilt arc, bc you know, he thinks he straight up killed everyone he loves + his whole world while at it. He’s a really neurodivergent kid, he can’t handle something of this magnitude.
Also the second panel happens after their fight, I just wanted to get this finished quick. Anyway yeah they fought and the realization hit Sonic during it and he just froze, and Shadow decked him and probably kicked him to a new shatterspace
AU version where due to that guilt he begins to despise himself, and isolates from everyone, because he feels he’s a liability, and that anyone he comes close to will meet their doom because of him.
EDIT: After reading some theories, I came up w an alt AU version! So if all the shatterspaces are in fact the prime world getting split into pieces, same going for the gang’s personalities and such, the change is that Sonic pushes through and reunites the shards, fixing his home world! But once done so, he disappears from sight, doing the whole isolation bit. The heaviest part of the guilt arc basically gets pushed back to until the prime world’s already fixed.
Of course he deals with a lot of quilt and depression in the meantime, but he learns to bottle up and hide his emotions. Prime!Sonic is very emotional, open and talkative, but in this AU, over the course of the series, he becomes more dubdued- again, hides emotions, talks less (tho not too much less, cuz boy’s gotta mask) and starts keeping to himself more. He’s doing the whole “talking about surface troubling stuff to appear open and honest, while in fact keeping all heavier trauma concealed underneath”. Keeps on a smile, but it begins to hurt.

Day 30 - Trust
written for @prongsfoot-microfic (angst!!!! reader beware!!! lil bit o’ death going on!!!)
“I trusted you.”
Remus’ heart breaks right in half at the past tense.
Trusted.
Such a small difference, but oh, how it changes things. How it changes everything.
“James—“
“No.”
“But—“
“Remus,” James’ voice is simmering with rage and it’s unlike anything Remus has even seen from him. Of them all, he’s the mildest, the most even-tempered, quickest to bounce back. He’s never been one to…stew in his anger but now that he has, Remus doesn’t know where to go from here. What to do.
“I. Trusted. You.” James’ enunciated every word with painful clarity, digging the knife in deeper with each turn. “I thought, if I wasn’t there, then at least you would be to take care of Sirius. If not for him, then for me.”
“I tried, God, I swear I tried, Prongs—“ Remus begs, hands clasped in front of him as if praying. (Not entirely far from the reality—James was their deity, was he not? The centre of their universe, the source of their absolution)
“Don’t you dare lie to me, Remus, you’re already on thin fucking ice.” One shaking finger rises to poke him on the chest. It doesn’t hurt, he can barely feel it through his jumper but it pushes him back nonetheless, almost stumbling into the corner chair behind him. “I know you didn’t try.”
“I did—“ He tries again, though he’s coming to realise it’s futile. For James Potter, there’s no bigger crime than abandoning Sirius. It’s why he has a grudge against the entire Black family and now Remus is on the same list, with the dubious distinction of taking top spot.
“Ask me how I know?”
He stay silent, knowing he wouldn’t like the answer. But this is James Potter they’re talking about. He never gives up.
“Ask me how I fucking know, Remus.” James’ voice reverberates around the entire room, the echoes of his shout ringing in Remus’ ears. The only sound cutting across the deafening silence is heavy panting. Until Remus breaks it.
“How do you know?” His voice, in sharp contrast, is small, timid.
“Because he wouldn’t be dead right now if you did.”
Remus’ neck almost snaps clean in half at how quickly he looked up, both from what James just said and the utterly broken tone in which he did.
“Dead—?” he whispered, unable to believe what he’s hearing. There’s no way Sirius is—No. Just. It’s not possible.
James doesn’t give any more information, doesn’t say anything for a few minutes where they’re both staring—Remus at James, and James into nothingness. He’s never seen such a look of abject despair on anyone’s face, let alone his best friend, and it makes him wonder. How will James ever recover from this? Will he even?
“Do you know, Remus,” James says then, a jagged, sharp smile growing on his lips. It’s humourless, it’s empty, it’s spine-chilling. “Coming from back from the dead after a dozen years to find out your Sirius is locked up and dying, and then to see him take his last breath in front of you? I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.”
Remus gulps, because he can sense this isn’t the end, there’s more to come and when it does—that’s it. It’ll sever any ties they might’ve had between them at some point, will cut them off entirely.
“But you.” James finally looks at Remus. His eyes are red rimmed but hard as ice, lips twisted into an ugly sneer. “I wish you’d feel even a fraction of what I’m feeling right now. Maybe you’d realise what you did then.”

Sunbeam may be able to handle staying with Nightheart after he left her TWICE, but I couldn't.
I made this tough decision to leave the clan I grew up in and even left my ex-girlfriend for you, only to be left again. Sorry man, I'm going to settle down with Finchlight instead.
Goodbye Nightheart, hello to your amazing sister.
the authors lost any investment in those relationship for me when their relationship start is nightheart basically showing up and proclaiming them mates. don't like that! especially since it really didn't have any decent consequences for him so far (come on, authors, two books left! don't shy away from having sunbeam dump his ass and date his sister!!)

This is a little more personal here but “You can’t judge things by their worst qualities,” is actually something I’ve been saying to so many people for so long. And it actually means a lot to me to watch a character who I genuinely identify with, not in the way of situation but in the way of trying so hard to be kind and accepting even when people show me their worst qualities again and again means so much to me. It’s hard to be kind sometimes and it really does mean a lot to me to watch a show choose to have a character who is kind like that without like, putting up with the crap that comes with it.
Mk goes through a lot, but through it all he still tells someone who has hurt him that they can be a hero, a warrior for something good despite all that. He still sits with someone who’s good intentions had ill effects and plays dumb to lighten the mood which ngl I do as well. He still opens a place for them with his friends and family and lets them come and go as they need.
As much as I talk about the story aspects of Monkie Kid, it’s the messages that the story writes that keeps me with it and keeps me watching the show. It’s an incredible show in every aspect, in animation, storytelling, characterization and character development, but that one means the most to me. Life’s rough. Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes do horrible horrible things, but there is always the potential to be good, y’know? And it’s nice to see a character ready to accept people the moment they're ready to try, no matter how many times it takes. Even when they might not deserve it, even when it’s hard. Mk brings out the best in the people around him. And I want to be like that.
Shoutout to Monkie Kid for giving morally dubious characters, kind characters, gruff characters, silly characters, complex characters and characters I wanna be like. I love this show a lot.

What's your response to people saying Sasuke viewing Team 7 as his family is “unrealistic” because they only knew each other for a few months?
Ouuu I’m sorry this is such a late response, I was drafting it out and I totally forgot to finish it!
Figuring out the timeline of Naruto is HELL, but from what I gather, Sasuke was a part of Team 7 for about a year. For plot purposes, we don’t really see how Team 7 bonds, but we know they basically meet up / train / go on missions every day. During the Wave arc, Kakashi gives the whole “abandoning your teammates makes you worse than scum” speech to a group of impressionable 12 year olds. Not only that, he’s been drilling the idea of teamwork since the very first meeting. On top of all that, it’s established at the academy that it’s essential for teams to gel if they want to survive on the field (the team becomes your second family, wink wink.)
Considering all of that, no I don’t think it’s unrealistic to believe that Sasuke begins to cherish Team 7 (something that is CANONICALLY proven, and I’ll prove it after this.) His time with his team provides structure, routine, and an escape from his relentless thoughts abt revenge (and if there’s one thing I know, kids need routine and structure, even if regrettably, that comes from being a fucking child soldier.) Team 7 becomes Sasuke’s support system. I’m not pulling this out of my ass btw - after seeing Itachi again, Sasuke himself acknowledges that because he spent so much time being with his team, he forgot abt his revenge (for clarification cos I’m too lazy to find the manga page, this is when Kisame and Itachi come after Naruto while he’s training w Jiraiya.)
During the invasion arc / Naruto’s fight against Gaara, Sasuke calls Naruto and Sakura his “precious comrades.” (Even without the words, if you read the manga, it’s clear from Sasuke’s body language that he cares about/is very protective over his team.) When Kakashi is trying to convince Sasuke to forget about his revenge, Naruto and Sakura are the people he thinks about.
Somewhere between the formation of Team 7 and Sasuke’s defection, Naruto and Sakura have become important people to Sasuke, so much so that the thought of leaving them behind almost convinces him to stay (but of course, in the end, his hatred for Itachi and need for revenge wins over.)
I’ve seen the criticisms and I’ll admit that the execution of Team 7 as a family is not as strong as it could’ve been. But I do think that if you read the manga, you can see Kishimoto’s efforts. And canonically, Sasuke cares deeply about Naruto and Sakura, and anyone who tries to argue against that is wrong 🤷🏻♀️
