New Longstar AU - A Journey and A New Land
Between Books
Brambleclaw asks for his suffix, claiming it as his way to claim power over his dishonorable Sire.  That night, he wakes in a familiar place – the clearing where Tiger”star” was killed, and Bloodclan run off.  Brambleclaw bows as his father, belly leaking red and black and thorny vines, approaches.  Tigerstar’s grin is all teeth and menace, and he congratulates his kit for keeping the Clan’s trust in him…but this is only the start of their plans.
In Riverclan, Feathertail and Stormfur make their way.  The siblings notice that the former loners Hawkpaw and Mothpaw bear a small resemblance to Tiger”star”, but agree that even IF they were somehow his kits, that the blood of their sire makes no difference on who they will be.
In Shadowclan, Tawnypelt feels the weight of her sire’s sins around her neck.  With the help of Runningnose and Rowanclaw, she begins to heal.
In Windclan, Hopfoot announces his retirement, and Mudclaw is promoted to Deputy.  Hopfoot’s adopted son Crowpaw and niece Nightcloud prepare a nest especially for him.
In the Hope’s Rest Clowder, Darkstripe and Sasha have been noticing more signs of Twolegs around their Camp, and begin making plans to move the Clowder entirely.  A few cats express wishing to live in a forest.
In another place, an elderly cat named Skywatcher gathers Kittypets and Loners under his wings, hoping that others will come to take his burden and delight of a Clowder, and make them a Clan, before he passes away.
The Quest
In Thunderclan, the three kits of Longstar and Flamewish are being apprenticed.  Tactician Graystripe has deduced that Swiftpaw’s anxiety would lead to her being a terrible Hunter or Brawler, and suggests Nursery Guard, which she happily accepts, apprenticing to Goldenflower and Brackenfur.  Foxpaw wants to be a Warrior, and apprentices under Brightheart as her lead Mentor, with other cats there to help her learn other skills. Darkpaw asks to be mentored in the art of Healing, and apprentices under Fireheart and Cinderpelt.
Foxpaw is annoyed that Brambleclaw keeps interrupting her training sessions to give advice and tells him so to his face.  He sputters, and gives a non-apology, but does back off.  Brightheart thinks that he must be trying to be a better cat than his father, but Snowthorn just thinks he’s trying too hard.  Shrewpaw makes funny faces behind Brambleclaw’s back during the non-apology and makes Foxpaw laugh.
Swiftpaw and Foxpaw tell their parents that they can sometimes talk to each other in their minds, and Historian Mousefur assures the worried parents that twin births sometimes Do That – it might be a Star Blessing, but that’s not always the case.
Darkpaw beings trying to figure out how to heal minds, as his father sometimes freezes up around the smell or sounds of dogs, and some cats are terrified of thunderstorms and even a hint of smoke on the wind.  Fireheart asks Starclan for guidance on how to best help his nephew, and the Spirit of Goosefeather begins showing up with Yellowfang to build this new kind of healing.
Foxpaw begins having dreams about distant salty waters and a badger with starry eyes, with the sun drowning, and talks to Fireheart about it. He suggests it may be related to the sightings of Twolegs around the forest, and takes Foxpaw and Longstar to the Moonstone.  They have a collective vision of the Clan lands being torn up by yellow Monsters, and of the Hope’s Rest Clowder being chased out of their camp by Twolegs with long silver looped sticks, and Longstar immediately starts making plans.
He sends a warning with Graystripe to the Hope Clowder, and warnings to the other Clans.  Riverclan denies that anything like that could happen, Windclan starts making preparations, and Shadowclan admits that Twolegs have been marking some of their trees with orange markings.  Hope Clowder is already mid move to a new Twoleg Den, one with more Twoleg decorations on it, but agree to be prepared to evacuate if Twolegs are sighted.
After some time has passed, Yellowfang appears to the whole LongFlame family one night, and says that Foxpaw needs to go on a Quest for a new home, as the Twolegs are planning to turn their territories into more Twoleg Dens.  Flamewish makes Yellowfang promise to keep an eye on Foxpaw, and Yellowfang says that there are other cats from the Clans coming too.  Foxpaw says goodbye to her family, her mentors, and Shrewpaw, before leaving.  She meets Tawnypelt, Crowpaw, and Feathertail and Stormfur at the border, but is bothered greatly when Brambleclaw shows up, saying he’ll keep her safe.
The Questers make their way through the Twoleg Territory, skirting past Hope Colony’s old home, and eventually meet an old tom named Purdy. He guides them the rest of the way, becoming the Quester’s Grandpa, and they are sad to see him go.  Crowpaw, Foxpaw, and Feathertail become close friends, with Tawnypelt and Brambleclaw bonding a little.  Tawnypelt notes that her brother is a little distant, but chalks it up to their separation. Stormfur thinks Foxpaw is cute, but she’s also not an adult so he shakes it off.  Crowpaw talks about how his parents found him – on the edge of the territory, sopping wet and terrified of unclear water.  Ashfoot spoke of seeing a ghostly cat running from him, and assumed that was his sire or queen.
(They will never know it was a cat named Pine, who once walked the world in Thunderclan.  He refused the gifts of Starclan for ages, and once he saved the innocent kit, he finally entered the fields he had abstained from.  For once, he did the right thing for a kit of his bloodline.)
They meet with the starry-eyed badger Midnight, who confirms that their home is to be destroyed, so they must Journey past the great mountain to find their new home.  As they leave, Midnight catches Brambleclaw by himself, and warns him that the path he walks leads only to a sudden sharp end.  He shakes her off and continues on his way.
The group goes up the great mountain, and are stopped by a patrol of cats wearing mud and berry paint in swirling patterns. They are escorted to the Coldstone Clowder camp inside of a cave, with a great waterfall, a wide floor, and great stone teeth hanging from the ceiling.  Feathertail shivers as she looks up, noting that they look so fragile.  One of the cats that escorted them in, Brook, states that they are the teeth of the Sky Cat, which protect them from evil.  The Questers meet with Stoneteller, both Leader and Seer, who advises them that he has Foreseen a silver cat stopping their Punishment - a Sharp Clawed Spirit that has tormented them for ages.  When Stormfur asks what their Clowder was being punished for, Stoneteller sighs, and tells them that the Clowder has forgotten their crimes, though they must have been great.  Foxpaw disagrees, this Spirit sounds like a Geist, and decides they must free the Clowder from their torments.
A plan is set – some freshkill is used to lure the massive Geist into part of the cavern, and then the Hunters, Stormfur, Brambleclaw, and Tawnypelt will leap on it and batter it.  Crowpaw, Foxpaw, and Feathertail will distract it, along with some of the faster Hunters and Scouts.  The plan starts perfectly – the great Geist comes into the cavern, its birch-bark pelt curling and jagged, its eyes dripping river weeds and mud.  Foxpaw streaks over its paws, dodging slime and tree sap, and the attackers jump on its back, peeling the bark back farther to release murky water.  This is what sends the plan reeling – Crowpaw sees the water and freezes.  The hunters are battered, and Brambleclaw curses Crowpaw for cowardice.  Feathertail sees a starry cat with silver fur, and sees what she has to do.
She runs for a craggy path, up to the stone teeth, and
She
   Leaps
      And
         F
           A
               L
                     L
                         S
Taking the largest stone tooth with her
It CRACKS into the Geist’s back, pinning it to the cave floor, sending sap and water and mud out in a wild wave, soaking Crowpaw and Foxpaw, who had leapt to Crowpaw’s defense.    The Geist scrabbles at the ground, and slowly whisps away like fog in a beam of sunlight, leaving only the clawmarks and the stone tooth, embedded in the floor as if it had grown there.  And atop it, Feathertail, silent and still.
Stormfur wails, rushing to the limp body of his sister, as Stoneteller and the other Coldstone Clowder cats gather incredulously.  Crowpaw leaps up to his friend, and screams. SHE’S STILL ALIVE!!!!!
Stormfur and Stoneteller carefully leverage the fallen cat to the softest nest the Clowder has, and Crowpaw lays at her head, apologizing over and over.  Stoneteller shoos him, and Crowpaw weeps against Foxpaw, who assures him that it wasn’t his fault, that any one of them could have freaked out.  Stoneteller declares that Feathertail will live, but he is unsure of what the damage to her back will do.  Brook comforts Stormfur, and Foxpaw makes Crowpaw laugh a little by joking about Brook making moves on Stormfur.
After a day, Feathertail wakes, but she can’t feel her hindquarters at all.  She stops Crowpaw from apologizing, and assures her friends that she will do her best to heal, but they have a job to do.  Stoneteller promises to take care of Feathertail like one of his own Clowder, and Brook swears to personally keep Feathertail cared for.  After a tearful goodbye, the five remaining Questers head down the mountain.  They break through a fog bank, and behold the vista below them.
A grand lake, surrounded by woodland and marshland and moorland and a winding river.  Birds fly past the group unafraid, and Crowpaw spies deer feeding in the distance.  A small Twoleg Den sits on one side, with a Barn and strange creatures dotting the Twoleg Territory there.  Near where the river meets the lake, another Twoleg Den sits, with a structure jutting out into the lake.  It gleams with the rising sun, and it’s as close to perfect as the Questers will ever find.
The group heads back to the Coldstone Clowder, and after transporting Feathertail to see the view, the five Clan cats head back the way they came.  Foxpaw tries to send Swiftpaw good vibes, but gets a strange feeling – like anxiety creeping up her tail and rooting in her spine.  Something is terribly wrong. And as they come into view of the Clan territories, and see the devastation that the Twolegs have wrought, and understand.
The Time Between
While the Quest was going on, the Twolegs had begun their attack on the territories.  All the Clans were under threat of starvation.  Windclan found themselves poisoned by prey.  Shrewpaw was nearly killed by a Monster – only saved by a shining Swiftspirit pulling him out of the way.  His leg was still broken, but he would live.  And worst of all, the Twolegs had set traps!  The Clans would have lost so many, save that Sandstorm led a rescue mission – at the cost of the Monster holding the prisoners stealing the brave molly away.
The Hope Clowder had better luck at least – their new home was safe, as their old camp had been destroyed by Monsters as well, but at least they had a place to stay!
Preparations were made to move.  Seers chipped pieces of the Moonstone away, to bring with them to their new home.  Herbalists gathered their plants into carriable containers.  Queens and Kings worked with Crafters to make kit-carriers.  Hunters and Trackers took down every prey they found, and butchered the meat into transportable parcels.
And then the Questers returned.
The Journey
Foxpaw fell into her family’s embrace, crying with joy.  Goldenflower held Brambleclaw, who reassured her he was FINE MA.  Stormfur informed Leopardstar of Feathertail’s injury, and was welcomed back by Hawkfrost and Mothwing.  Tawnypelt rushed into Rowanclaw, holding him like he was a treasure.  Crowpaw ran into camp calling for his parents, and was swept up in their embrace, Nightcloud and her mate Gorseflicker dancing around them as Tallstar watched.  Foxpaw was named Foxflight for her swift return, and she congratulated Swiftpool on her calm name.  And Crowpaw requested he be named for the bravest cat he knew, and became Crowfeather.
Within three days, the dens were dismantled, the histories gathered, and every cat accounted for. But some of the Elders were too tired and weak, and Mudfur is recovering from an illness.  As the Clans walked through the Twoleg Territory, a group of Hope Clowder cats stopped them – their leaders wanted to talk to the Leaders of the Clans before they left.
The Leaders, and the Elders so they could rest, were led to Darkstripe and Sasha, and Longstar asked what they wanted.  Sasha explains that some of their more spiritually sided cats have had visions of a distant Clan of cats that need help – do they know anything about this?  As she speaks, stars fall through a crack in the wall, and Willowpelt emerges.  She greets the tearful Darkstripe, and confirms that the records are missing something – there once were five Clans.
The fifth, Skyclan were banished after the Leaders decided the fifth Tree at what became Fourtrees meant that Skyclan needed to leave.  They were forced to split, some joining the Coldstone Clowder, others became Kittypets or Loners, and some joined the remaining Clans. The Leaders then forbid the Historians from ever speaking of Skyclan, leading to everyone forgetting them  This was terribly wrong of the past Leaders, and now some of their descendants needed aid.  Mudfur raises his head – I can do this.  Frostfur agrees, followed by Loudbelly, and a Windclan Elder named Hollowback, then a Shadowclan Elder named Yewtail.  Their Leaders confer, and agree as well, so long as the Hope Colony cats going along understand they’ll have to care for these treasured Elders.  The Colony cats are brought in, and fervently agree, one tom named Macguyver vows to see them to Skyclan if it’s the last thing he does.  The Elders say goodbye to the Clans, and the mass of cats departs.
As the Clan cats go up the mountain, an apprentice named Smokepaw almost falls off of a cliff, but is saved by Russetfur.  This sets off a chain reaction that leads the Clans to become closer.  Queens and Kings huddle together, their kits becoming friends.  Apprentices chatter with each other, sharing tongues and stories. Historians compare notes, and Crafters compare techniques.  Hunters and Trackers share notes and bring down prey together.  Swiftpool finds herself becoming enamored with Crowfeather, and Crowfeather begins getting a crush on Swiftpool.  Foxflight is not blind and needles them cheerfully, with the help of Shrewleg.  Notably, Onewhisker keeps close to a slowly wilting Tallstar, and seems to be brown-nosing, at least according to Nightcloud.  He only leaves the elderly Leader’s side to talk with Brambleclaw.
When the Clans reach the Coldstone Clowder, they shelter for a night in the cavern, Graystripe being reunited with Feathertail.  She gets teary at Crowfeather’s name, and she and Stormfur decide to stay behind in the Coldstone Clowder, feeling more at home there.
The Clans marvel at the sight of the New Territory, but some cats wonder if Starclan came with them.  These doubts are erased when every Senior Seer AND Healer get similar visions of past Seers or Healers, assuring them Starclan reaches as far as Silverpelt.  As the cats bed down for the night, Barkface summons the Leaders to meet with Tallstar.  When they enter the bush where Tallstar lies, it becomes very apparent what is happening.
Tallstar is dying, for the last time.
Mudclaw and Onewhisker stay at the entrance, Onewhisker shooting glares at the Deputy.  Tallstar weakly asks Leopardstar, Longstar, and Blackstar to help his chosen Deputy guide his clan, and as he passes, names…Mudclaw.  Onewhisker storms off, and Mudclaw lowers his head, mourning.
As this is happening, Hawkfrost and Mothwing meet with Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt, having deduced that the four share the same sire.  As they’re talking, Foxflight and Crowfeather trot over to say hello.
And the Riverclan siblings freeze.
Foxflight asks if they sat on slugs, and Mothwing shakily says that she’s seeing a Spirit, Hawkfrost’s wavering voice rising.  It’s our brother.  Tadpole.  We lost him when he…drowned… Crowfeather tilts his head.  I’m not named Tadpole, but…you look familiar…and tells his story.  Mothwing tears up – it’s you – oh Tadpole you’re ALIVE!!!  Hawkfrost is blubbering, beaming hopefully. Crowfeather, shaking a little, smiles weakly – I think I remember you, oh Moth, oh Hawk!  The three tumble into a teary embrace, with Foxflight and Tawnypelt cheering.  Brambleclaw looks…angry, that the attention is off of him, but hides it quickly. Of COURSE he would be excited about another sibling, he’s just shocked!
The next morning, as Windclan mourns Tallstar, many wonder how Mudclaw will gain his nine lives, with no Moonstone.  Darkpaw wonders as well, but is distracted by a tortie molly with a starry pelt.  He grabs Sorreltail, and they follow the cat until she leads them to a pool of clear, shining water.  With familiar shining stones at the bottom.  Darkpaw and Sorreltail race back to the group excitedly, and when the Healers come to the pool, they collectively agree that this will be their new Moonstone.  The Moonpool.  Darkpaw is given his Healer’s name on the spot by Cinderpelt – Darkmoon.
Settling In and Blood Spilt
The Clans settle into their new camps, and it’s busy for quite a while.  Camp Guards working with Crafters to weave new Dens, Herbalists and Healers planting their medicines and locating more, and Trackers and Hunters finding and tracking the lives of the new prey groups.  Foxflight finds herself bothered by Brambleclaw, finding solace in her pseudo-uncle Ashfur and his mate Flyshadow, and her best friend Shrewleg.  Eventually, they are forced to work together to drive off some Rogues that were harassing the border patrols of Thunderclan and Shadowclan.  Blackstar is furious that Longstar stepped in, but comically backtracks when Flamewish steps up. She had recently helped dive out a badger, and is Not Amused by Blackstar’s nonsense. We help each other, Moronstar!
Unfortunately, Onewhisker leads a revolt against Mudstar, claiming that Tallstar named HIM Deputy on his deathbed, and that Mudstar is a False Star.  This accusation brings Shadowclan supporters, and a fight breaks out, with Riverclan and Thunderclan supporting Mudstar.  As Onewhisker yowls angrily against Mudstar, a tree falls upon him, and he is crushed.  His body is retrieved, and the tree becomes the bridge to the new Gathering Place.  (Brambleclaw seethes, as his ally falls.  But he still has the Foxflight plan)
After some time, a Barn Cat named Daisy meets a patrol exploring the edge of the Twoleg Den.  She asks if they protect kits, which Cloudtail affirms.  She brings her three kits, Berrykit, Hazelkit, and Mousekit, to Thunderclan, saying that the Twolegs took her last litter, and she refuses to lose another to them.  Longstar welcomes her, and asks if she wishes to have a Clan name.  She passes, stating that she was named to honor her mother, and joins Thunderclan.  Cloudtail is attentive to her, which bothers Brightheart.  Thankfully, she communicates with her mate, and the three cats come to a romantic agreement.  The kits are delighted to have three parents!
Swiftpool and Crowfeather begin having a secret relationship, though not quite as secret as they think.  Hopfoot and Ashfoot exchange glances when their son looks so cheery, and Snowthorn pawspeaks jokes to Darkmoon about Swiftpool being obvious as a snowfall in Greenleaf.  Eventually, they decide to run away together, thinking that their Clans would never let them be together.  But that night they are stopped by Midnight, who tells them that her kin are attacking Thunderclan Camp.  The pair split up, Crowfeather running to Windclan for backup, and Swiftpool rushing for home.
She enters camp to pandemonium.  There are at least a half-dozen badgers, and she leaps at the one atop of Sootfur, saving his life.  As she helps drive them off, she hears Darkmoon scream in anguish, then sees him pin a badger with a bloody face.  Behind him, in front of the Healer’s Den, is a downed Cinderpelt.  Suddenly, a Windclan Battle Patrol bursts into camp, finishing off the badgers.  Swiftpool mourns the Healer alongside Darkmoon, Fireheart, and Flamewish, as Longstar confers with Mudstar.  Eventually, she and Crowfeather are called to meet with their leaders, and they confess their affair, waiting for their punishments.
But instead, Flamewish whoops delightedly, Mudstar sighs and mutters about idiots not talking to their Leaders, and Longstar pats them gently, you are not subtle kits.  Right there, Windclan and Thunderclan create a cross-clan relationship rule – so long as the Clans are at peace with each other, cats may be in relationships.  The moon remains bright and clear, and Swiftpool and Crowfeather have official permission to date.  The rule is added to the code at large, though Leopardstar seems somewhat iffy about it.  But if the Stars approve, then who is she to deny them?
After some time, Brambleclaw keeps trying to flirt with Foxflight, even though she’s mates with Shrewleg.  Eventually Fireheart steps in, and gives Brambleclaw a talk about consent, and taking NO for an answer. This is interrupted by Cloudtail rushing into camp with an injured Berrykit, who snuck out and got his tail stuck in a Twoleg snare.  He loses the tail, but lives, and is scolded for leaving camp by himself.  Brambleclaw gets an idea.
He meets every so often with Hawkfrost on the border, the pair complaining and training together.  Hawkfrost admits to once having a dream of Tiger”star” calling him, but denied it after seeing a moth float by. It reminded him of the one time that he tried to fake a sign to make Mothpaw a Healer, but there was already a moth’s wing at the Healer’s Den.  The pair both wish to be Deputies, and plan to become Leaders together.
On the evening of their last meeting, Hawkfrost feels a sense of unease.  As he approaches the meeting place, he hears a commotion, and finds Longstar trapped by a Twoleg snare on his neck, Brambleclaw standing over him.  Hawkfrost is horrified as Brambleclaw speaks, help me kill him, and Whitestorm when he makes me Deputy, and I’ll help you kill your opposition.  We will rule TOGETHER!
And Hawkfrost?
Says NO!
The pair clash, with Hakfrost getting knocked around by the Miretrees-trained Brambleclaw, eventually being thrown next to Longstar.  He sees the snare-thorn, and as Brambleclaw leaps at him, grabs the snare-thorn in his mouth
                                                                               And
                                                                                        Stabs
Brambleclaw falls on Hawkfrost, and the Riverclan tom shoves his half-brother off, the snare-thorn lodged deeply in the Traitor’s throat.  He frees Longstar, who coughs weakly, and thanks Hawkfrost for helping him.  Blood spills into the lake. Hawkfrost vows to never become Leader – he will support his clan, but the shine of Leadership has been forever tainted by hot blood and shocked amber eyes.
(Brambleclaw wakes, coughing up blood and black ooze.  His father sneers, what a failure…but we will try again)
And Swiftpool realizes she’s pregnant.
(Crowfeather denies that he fainted, it was a Manly Swoon. Foxflight disagrees heartily)

Could we get any information about crowfeather and his family or story? Does he go on the journey in arc 2 at all?
He does! Although, he's not the prophecy cat, that would be his mentor Gorseflame. He tags along because Gorse got him as an apprentice like a week before the journey and he doesnt want him to fall behind on training. Or worse, be trained by someone else.
His family, however, is an...interesting group.
You've got his father, Darksong, a well respected deputy who retires just before the clans leave, and survives til just after onestar takes over. You've got his mother, Ashfoot, daughter of Shadowclan Elder Ashfeather (Ashfur in the books, the one who helps yellowfang), and also a respected windclan deputy.
There's his littermates, Eaglepaw and Hillpaw, who are the first to die from the poisoned rabbits, and who don't live who see their brother come home. There's Downkit too, the older sibling who died less than a moon from becoming an apprenticr.
Then, there's his mates. Well, two crushes and tepwo mates. During the journey, he has a crush on both Feathertail and Stormfur, and they are how he figured out he was Bi. Stormfur, however, dies to the Sharptooth, and Feathertail is a lesbian who stays in the mountains, so their off the table. Instead, he ends up with Leafpool after bonding with her during her work curing the poisoned rabbit situation.
This, of course, ends when Thunderclan is attacked and Cinderspark, Leafpool's auntie, dies, devastating her. Little do they know that that day was the concievement day, give or take.
While Leafpool is pregnant and trying to hide it, Crow is in Windclan being mated to a cat he doesnt love due to clan pressure. His father has just died, and his siblings not long before, leaving him as the only child of two deputies, one from a well respected windclan line. So, he's mated to Nightcloud. However, they struggle to concieve, so when Leafpool shows up at the border and tells him shes pregnant, he makes a plan. And Leafpool adds on to the plan with an old story she heard.
So, when the kits are born and old enough to walk, she and squilf take half of them to the border, in late leafbare. They get them to the border, hand over the three they agreed on, and Leafpool leaves to go nurse the remaining three.
Crowfeather tries to walk his three back to camp, but two of them collapse from the cold, and he's forced to leave them behind as he rushes back to camp to save the remaining one. When cats ask where he got the kit from, he says its his and nightcloud's, cant you see the kit, its as pitch black as they are. Cats are, of course, suspicious of this, but whenever anyone asks after that, crowfeather just looks away with the shake of a head and sorrowful look.
Part of it is true, of course. He grieves his kits, naturally, but some of it is just to keep cats off his back. Meanwhile, in Thunderclan, Squirrelflight acts distraught as her kits went missing. This is pinned on Hawkfrost rather fast, but that's a different story.
From here, i'm not sure how exactly things go, especislly not from crow's perspective. In the books, he's emotionally and physically abusive to his wife and son, which tumblr user Bonefall has made some very good posts recently detailing the extent of. I want to keep this. Somehow, some way, he ends up abusive and outright bitter.
One thing i know for sure, though, is that breezepelt does not follow this behaviour when he has kits himself. By the time he's had kits, he's learnt, and gotten better, and gotten help. He is a good mate to Heathertail (who is not even vaguely related to him) and an adoring father to his daughters.
Nightcloud also gets a good ending, too, as she ends up leaving and publically calling out crowfeather for his actions, and shames windclan for letting it happen. She gets a genuine apology from Harestar for letting his actions slide. I'm not sure if she leaves windclan for a time, but eventually, she ends up with Leafpool. Its shaky, at first, of course it is, thats her ex-husbands ex-wife, but eventually she genuinely falls for her, and all is well.
Oh, and breezepelt doesnt hate his siblings as an adult. They get on alright, even his similarly formerly evil littermates. He's also some level of nonspeaking/mute as an adult, as he lost his powers.
Crowfeather's fate, though? I really dont know. Public shaming, for sure. Perhaps he sees what hes done and apologises, perhaps hes exiled entirely, its a tricky subject.

Your post about Sandgorse makes me think that Tallstars’ revenge would have been an excellent way to explore how it feels to grieve a parent who was either toxic or straight up abusive. The thing is, most people without wanting or meaning to, do deify the recently deceased, tend to remember only the good moments or minimize the bad. Having Talltail realize at the end that his father was truly abusive, and that even if the hurt he feels is understandable, he was not a good father and he doesn’t need to feel guilty for moving on, would have been a pretty good lesson towards the younger audience. I’m saying this as someone who went through a similar experience with a family member, was relating to Talltail’s guilt and stress about lack of closure, and then felt utterly betrayed when the books painted Sandgorse as a good parent and Talltail as someone that needed to “make up” for him . They even present Palebird as somehow being worse, when she was experiencing post partum depression on top of losing a child (this seems to be a recurring theme in warriors, since Sparkpelt goes through nearly the same thing)
Absolutely agree with you! The first half of Tallstar’s Revenge sets this up: Tallstar needs to learn to accept he can’t keep envisioning Sandgorse as a hero he needs to live up to. I love stories about rocky relationships with guardians, of children who have to grow up and realize they can’t be the person their parents want them to be (or that their parents won’t become someone they want them to be). It’s good juicy drama and often times these stories are satisfying in the sense of seeing people grow and move on. But it doesn’t happen.
The recurring theme of fathers in warriors is that there never needs to be a reckoning of their absence (Stormtail) or their shotty treatment of their children (Sandgorse and Raggedstar). The narrative either twists it around so that the father’s shitty behavior is never acknowledged, or worse, it completely puts the blame on the mother figures in the situation (once again, not excusing Lizardstripe or whatever being abusive but like….why does the cat who talks about how it’s unfair toms don’t have to give up anything when having children become the abusive mom. Can we think critically here. Raggedstar abuses both Yellowfang and plays a part in Brokenstar’s rise to power and he’s a fucking footnote compared to her).
Just a note for this next session on Palebird, I’m moreso talking about her from a writing perspective. Not as a real mother with PPD. That’s a distinction I want to make clear.
I think the thing that bothers me more about Palebird’s story is that she is absent in Tallstar’s life as a child, she doesn’t defend him from her father and her arc is wrapped up by, not talking with her son or asking for support from her Clanmates, but by remarrying and having more children. It’s a baffling and, with the rest of the series treatment of mothers in mind, shitty way to conclude her story.
I will fight tooth and nail that Sparkpelt being able to rely on other queens to ensure that her children were cared for was GOOD and NOT NEGLECT. What’s the alternative? A depressed mother who can barely care for herself takes care of two children as well? There’s nothing wrong with asking for help, there’s nothing wrong with leaning on community for support. ESPECIALLY if it means two children will be cared for, the prioritization of Sparkpelt being the sole caretaker would’ve put Finchkit and Flamekit in a much worse situation.
But Palebird doesn’t get that help and the story, from what I remember, never really comments on that? It’s a bit of a mess. I’m not fond of how they wrote her. Honestly, both Sandgorse and Palebird are interesting conceptually but the execution and resolutions of their characters is just sort of “I want to throw these two in the trash and start from scratch” energy to me lol

The possible final part to Starkit’s Reduxify- this one is an odd one.
So this one is a combination of love interest, mentor and father. Weird huh? Let me give you the rundown real quick!
Starkit is made into Starpaw and apprenticed to Firestar, her great grandfather through Jayfeather. Her and Firestar… yeah it gets odd.
So Firestar thinks of how attractive she is. And then next chapter it is outright said- they’re mates. Not only is he in a relationship with his great-granddaughter, but also someone who was just apprenticed three days prior.
It’s weird!
Graystripe is the one who finds this out btw. Only because he wanted to become mates with Starpaw and she had to tell him the bad news.
Starpaw not sure how to handle all of this runs off and into Blackstar (who also confesses his love to her). She runs away again and runs into Jayfeather. Who is rather okay with his teenage daughter being courted by his grandfather and two other dudes triple her age.
If anything he’s happy about it because “people like you” and then tells her it’s her choice. She picks her great grandfather. She doesn’t get to tell him, because Hollyleaf and Tigerstar attacks and becomes leader a day after becoming a Warrior aaaaaaaaand Firestar leaves.
He joins ShadowClan and like his great granddaughter immediately becomes leader because Blackstar died. Graystripe is only mentioned three other times and Jayfeather is stuck in a state of dying and coming back to life for all of eternity.
Now that that’s over with, let’s get to the renames-
Firestar -> Morningspot OR Sparkstripe
He gets two for the reasoning of him leaving ShadowClan and becoming leader.
I’m not certain of whether someone from one Clan can leave to another and become leader. I mean we see with Yellowfang she can become a Seer, but a leader? I’m not 100% certain about.
I did ask and I got smacked with a plant fact. So there’s something we can sit and squint for in the upcoming arcs!
Now Firestar like everyone else isn’t a character. He’s there to make Starkit feel good, and be a supporting character. He can’t win a fight for his life, and is mostly just there. His most notable moments are being A) in a relationship with his great granddaughter (and an apprentice) despite Sandstorm being right there and B) leaving ThunderClan and joining up with ShadowClan
Now I did play with giving him -cloud. Because he does seem like a relatively chill guy. But then I remembered he got in a fight with someone because relationship drama.
He has no morals (he was in ShadowClan and was therefor ‘evil’ to the point of interacting with the antagonists), and he isn’t skilled. He’s a pelt based suffix warrior for sure.
So Morningspot (ShadowClan) and Sparkstripe (ThunderClan) for him.
Of course I’ll probably be going with just one of them. If Sparkstripe, he will be Sparkstar and for sure not in a relationship with Nightpaw. Morningspot though I’ll probably make more her age just to give a Easter egg to the weird relationship shenanigans prior. Though not weird this time.
Oh! But if I go with Sparkstripe I did play with the idea of making him, Waspdusk’s dad maybe? Or somehow related to her.
Greystripe -> Darkbelly
I almost didn’t add him because of how little he is seen. But I decided to anyway.
Greystripe is only seen twice. Once when asking out a literal child, then comforting Blackstar for being rejected a second time, and finally at the very end.
He is switched to Dark- because he is described as a dark grey cat in some cases, and because he is outright described as “funny” I can twist things and give him the -belly suffix.
Once again no relationship between him and Nightpaw/claw. Instead he will be her mentor.
Why? You ask, well it was stated that leaders rarely mentor apprentices. Too much going on. And unlike Bluestar, Sparkstar (or whatever other leader) doesn’t have to take responsibility for bringing in a random kid.
So to Darkbelly she goes. He was probably there to try and make her see the lighter things in life rather then take things so seriously.
Not that it worked, but he tried. And was probably relieved to be free of her once she was made into a Warrior.
Jayfeather -> Cuckoocloud
Now onto Starkit’s father! The medicine cat that is blatantly open about it. It’s brought up once about how cats don’t like it. And never seen or mentioned again.
Starkit Prophecy Jayfeather is the complete opposite of canon Jayfeather. He’s rather laid back, and is someone there to help Starkit in her times of need.
Helping calm her down, and give her advice on what to do.
He is killed by Hollyleaf, revives, and then lives out the rest of his life presumably. I think it’s stated that the death of his daughter was something he had to work to get over? But I can’t remember tbh.
Now I wanted him to be an outsider. First to make him stand out from the other ThunderClanners, but also I like the idea of him being the person really pulling the strings along. I wanted him to guide Nightpaw into being the cat she becomes.
To do away with the old, and replace it with something far different from typical Clan beliefs.
Yes, he’s a Seer. But whoever said it was StarClan he was communicating with? And with Nightpaw’s connection to StarClan, he should’ve picked her as his apprentice. But if she became leader? Well that just helps him move things along.
Of course that’s also partly because I gave him Cuckoo- as a replacement prefix. And of course with his very chill behavior and soothing nature with Starpaw/Nightpaw, the -cloud suffix was easy.
And that’s partly why he’s here. While Morningspot/Sparkstripe was her mentor in the original source, Darkbelly her mentor here- he is the secret teacher who is giving her secret lessons.
And the one she is the closest with.
-
Now this is probably the last one- and I may- MAY start writing down a plot line and writing. But that’s a very big maybe.
I may make one more reduxify of the story. But tbh i think I’ve ran through most of the cats? At least the ones who speak more then once or mentioned only one time. So this is probably the very last one.
But I may make a poll to decide between Morningspot or Sparkstripe. Or maybe just maybe keep both. But that’s unlikely.

I basically just found your blog and saw the inheritance by tanistry posts and wanted to talk about. (hope that's okay) (not sure if I've seen all of them but I wanted to send this ask before I got distracted or forgot some of the things I wanted to suggest for an AU like this.) I agree RiverClan would be a really interesting setting for the idea, but I was also thinking a way to make it work in ThunderClan is to have apprenticeship add someone to the list of candidates. Like a form of informal adoption. Bluestar doesn't become Firepaw's mentor right away, it's only after he finds Yellowfang that she finally decides to actually give him a mentor. Maybe because he's an outsider she didn't want to link him to a family without getting a better sense of him first even with the prophecy. That way the pool for tanistry candidates would be larger without having to make a huge chunk of any given clan closely related; and also make the clan feel like one big family. You might not be blood related to the leader, but if they mentored you or your parent you could technically be chosen to lead next. Close blood relatives and direct apprentices would probably have the best chance. This would put Whitestorm in Tigerclaw's crosshairs since he's Bluestar's nephew and well respected, but in this system Tigerclaw kind of would be too, since Thistleclaw was his mentor. (but that might be too far away, since that's a relation through "marriage" and he'd only be chosen once she was getting desperate.) Assuming Whitestorm somehow manages to survive to Firestar's ascension to leadership, he'd be the logical choice for deputy because he's Firestar's relative through Bluestar's mentorship. And in the battle with BloodClan when he gives Firestar permission to choose Graystripe as his next deputy it's a sign that he's acknowledging their friendship is like family, since Firestar has no one but Cloudtail, Bramblepaw or Cinderpelt to choose at this point. Being a medicine cat might preclude a cat from becoming deputy under normal circumstances. (especially since Cinderpelt is ThunderClan's only healer at the moment.) If we also keep the rule that the next leader must have trained an apprentice (maybe it's one of the things that marks a cat as old enough to inherit.) that rules out Cloudtail and Bramblepaw is too young since he doesn't have his warrior name yet, let alone an apprentice. Anyway, those were just some thoughts I had about the whole AU, I hope this wasn't to long or ramble-y and I didn't have too many run on sentences!
(With reference to these posts.)
Yes, yes, I've been waiting for someone to talk to me about it actually! Thank you so much!
I like the idea of mentors being considered a sort of "bonus" parent, afterall mentors are highly involved with raising a cat. And that already seems to be a ThunderClan tradition. Lest we forget, we had a chain of mentor-apprentice leadership hand-offs with Sunstar->Bluestar->Firestar->Bramblestar. Alas, if only we could've gotten Berrystar into the mix, RIP Berrynose, it would've been really funny seeing you become leader on nepotism alone.
ANYWAY! I like the idea that having an apprentice would still be a requirement in some form. I'm thinking rather than just having an apprentice though it may be more about leaving descendants which in future could be elligible. Thus having had a litter would be another option.
I'd still wanna edit the family tree to make the deputy choices more closely related by blood. What I find compelling in stories about royalty like these is the idea of amplifying the effects of familiar disputes and drama. That isn't so easily done with mentorship chain hand-offs.
Thank you for writing in! You've reminded me there's someone I want to message on Discord about this stuff to help me do the family tree edits and come up with a plot.

Poor old man. Please let him rest.
You can’t see the fur on his paws in this, but I can assure you that it’s “very thick”.

What if Feathertail and Squirrelpaw swapping position in Sharptooth’s death? (Bizarre idea I know but I was curious about it)
That’s actually really interesting, I’ll bullet point a the basics of what I think might happen since this is just such a big au potential
So right away I think it would be obvious who the cat is to the tribe if their ancestors tell them it’s a red-furred cat or something so i don’t think it would end up with Squirrelpaw realising last minute it would be her. And I’m going to assume she dies as Feathertail did.
Since Stormfur isn’t the one being kept prisoner I’m not sure how much his feelings for Brook would develop- but I have a feeling that he would still feel the same about her by the time the clans pass through the mountains later on - so I think he and Feathertail would have an emotional goodbye in the mountains when the cats pass through on the great journey.
All four prophecy cats would make it to the lake.
Crowfeather would probably be called Crowclaw as Tallstar planned for him since Feathertail would be alive.
Crowclaw and Feathetail would probably end up in a forbidden relationship - meaning that Leafpool and Crowfeather never become a thing, so Jayfeather, Hollyleaf and Lionblaze wouldn’t exist. And since Squirrelflight is dead none of her bio kits would exist either. So in order for the three to happen Leafpool is going to have to get together with someone (since even if Dove and Ivy get powers we’re still one cat short) - and I hate to say it but I think it might be Brambleclaw just because the two of them share that grief and it also means that fire and tiger prophecy is still relevant.
So if Leafpool does end up with secret Brambleclaw babies I’m honestly not sure what would happen - I think she would definitely tell Brambleclaw then the two would have to decide what to do about it. I think they would either have to pass them off as orphans - or potentially ask Tawnypelt to adopt them. I’m not sure what else they could do honestly if Leafpool is to keep her position. I have a feeling they would want to keep them in their own clan though and Yellowfang might just tell Leafpool what she did and Leafpool repeat that - so Daisy would probably be the Three’s foster mother.
Speaking of illegal babies, Feathertail is likely to get pregnant at some point if she and Crowclaw get into a relationship.
This also means that Breezepelt is unlikely to exist
The three being raised by Daisy is going to completely alter the po3 since these cats don’t know they’re related to Firestar for most the arc and I doubt Ashfur would be any kind of issue - so the three are going to have to somehow learn about their parentage through other means
The consequences for all this are just so huge and I think I’ve only just covered the tip of the iceberg in terms of what might happen here if Squirrelpaw did die instead of Feathertail

stimmypaw reads Thunder & Shadow, another blog post
much like the first time, I am continuing to read A Vision of Shadows for the first time and sharing my thoughts as I go! This post of course has a bunch of spoilers for Thunder and Shadow. It’s all in the read more, have fun!
I'm so glad echosong is okay but what will she do??? Where will she go??? I'm so worried
I don't like it that Briarlight is stuck in the medicine den all day, love to see her playing with kits and showing her strength tho she's so sweet and good she deserves better
Now littlecloud is sick too???? Fuck!!!!
Also seems Needlepaw and Alderpaw haven't managed to get along better yet, maybe Alderpaw can talk to her through Leafpool since she's going to Shadowclan?
Also graystripe is awful as always and I love him 2 bits
I love Rowanstar's character too, he's so stupidly proud. Shadowclan has a fun trend of having a long line of mediocre to awful leaders and I feel bad for Tawnypelt, Shadowclans braincell who should be leader.
Jayfeather is gonna miss his friends
YES, SKYCLAN!!!! SKYCLANNNN
Twigkit lifting her front paws im 💖💖💖💖 AAAAA BABY
Graystripe :] he's silly
Omg feather time
If something bad happens to this feather ill fraud my taxes I will commit many crimes this delivery must happen safely and if anyone takes it from violetkit I will Kill
Omg sleekpaw don't be so mean poor littlecloud :c medicine cats are important!!
I see alderpaw leaving his feather behind alderpaw get it to violetkit Now
Oh God imagine being puddlekit, shadowclan needs to get its shit together real fast
Leafpool is just that picture (i do not see) while trying to process the mess they got her in
OKAY SO I'm glad he's getting along with needlepaw and that he can finally give violetkit her feather but LITTLECLOUD GUYS??? LITTLECLOUD?????????
My heart melted with violetkit, this was so sweet, why are the queens so mean to her??? She's just an autistic icon bro!! Like every cat I like in these books.
Alderpaw: hey I have an idea, why don't we commit crimes?
Needlepaw: FINALLY I THOUGHT YOUD NEVER ASK
VIOLETKIT POINT OF VIEW FINALLY???? FUCK YES YESSSS YES YES SHADOWCLAN TIME IM SO HAPPY THIS IS SO COOL
Last time this happened the character immediately died tho
Hm
I am suffering for violetkit
i wish violetkit would spend more time with leafpool im sure she’d be caring maybe?? maybe im just desperate for violetkit to be loved
no one here knows how to treat a kit
OH YES YESSS
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS SSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHEYRE TOGETHER AGAIN
im so sad
im
broooooo
aaaaa i hope needlepaw treats violetkit better from now on, this is hearbreaking.
Fuck I knew it, the rogues are coming for them aren’t they? And where’s Skyclan now????? fuck fuck fuck
ok I have no clue who Fernsong is but he’s funny already why is he like this what is happening why is he blocking them from looking at Honeykit while talking about how worried he is about her?? Absolutely misterious I love him
  Jayfeather 🤝 Yellowfang
“I don’t want kits around me”
oh the girls are fighting
oh the girls ARE fighting
furzepelt had a cool name im sorry to hear he only existed to die immediately :c
onestar also is very proud, im glad he accepted help this time tho
SPARKPAW MED CAT MOMENT HAHAH
i forgot bumblestripe was a cat and i was wondering if it was just a typo for bramble
also what’s up with dove and tiger??? i forgot everything about their relationship in the previous books because i don’t care about it and the erins tend to write some pretty boring straight couples
the way they’re described makes me feel like needlepaw and sleekpaw are just differently colored versions of each other at times, are they related?? they don’t seem to be.
and here’s the bit that’s previewed, oh boy, it must have been seriously scary being violetkit, but i hope they don’t convince her the clans hate her :c thunderclan likes her shadowclan just sucks
What do these background cats want from Twigkit???? To shoot lasers out of her eyes?? I guess she isn’t magical or anything but also she’s just a kit??? Firepaw was also just a kittypet and he’s a big deal :/// y’all just don’t get it, I hope Twigkit doesn’t get Dovepaw’s protagonist anxiety
I know Twigkit is being scolded but this scene is just so cute like Jayfeather is just tucking her in a moss bed while being mad at her for leaving camp
Thats another one I need to draw i love them
SPARKPELT YESSSSS YESS SYE SYES YES 🎊🎉🎉🎉🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈💖💖💖💖💖💕💖💕💖💕💖💕💕
Mothwing ableist????? That's cringe
Omg poor kestrelflight
Jayfeather misses Leafpool so bad, Puddlepaw must feel awful though
OLD AGE? H HOW OLD IS LEAFPOOL THEN???
?????? OH GOD IM LOVING THIS???
This apprentice rebellion is Nuts its so good oh fuck!!! I'm loving whats happening here its awful and perfect
Violetkit is getting bitter :c she needs 2 be embraced and loved stat
She is also clearly getting some bad dependency and abandonment issues, desperate to do anything to please so she won't be left alone again :c
FUCK NO NO NO AAAA NEEDLEPAW WHAT WWERE YOU THUNKING??????? JESUS POOR VIOLETKIT
Kitnapping, this is bad
Oh, very interesting
These apprentices and rogues are so smart god this is a perfect plan
Twigkit absolutely is the sunshine
I love her interactions with Alderpaw, I wish she had gotten to see her sister
In comparison Violetkit looking around camp desperate for attention is awful
Oh fuck bribing
NEEDLEPAW DONT BE MEAN TO VIOLETKIT :C
Oh fuck ou fuck the 4chan kids are angry
??? BRO WHAT??? DONT KICK OUT VIOLETKIT, THATS WHY YOUR APPRENTICES TURNED INTO ANCAPS DAMN
I'm angy
Oh no
Something bad happened :c
Bramblestar: good day!
Rowanstar: Oh Is it??? You could say that while starving in winter, cringe ass
Mistystar: its not winter tho
Onestar: well you're fat
God rowanstar must be obliterated
Hey where's the rowanstars maps use idk loon on a lake or something this man has angst!!!
I appreciate Ivypool is her mentor, at least Someone is honest about whats going on and hey they can both relate on the fear of not being special! Ivypool can be very good to Twigpaw im counting on her
Oh fuck
Violetpaw sounds like she's in trouble with the rogues :c aa
AAAA TWIGPAWWWW AAAA
Violetpaw don't be mean about your sister :C she misses you so bad
Sleekwhisker is like that dad that let his kid starve until she learned to open a bean can she didn't want
Holy fuck
Aaaa violetpaw D:
Jesus christ that was awful
That was so intense I was so nervous for Violetpaw, I'm really happy for her now aaaa
Another gathering already? Wowie
I hope Shadowclan gets those herbs soon :c
I see he appeal in FernIvy and I appreciate it
Violetpaw and Twigpaw sharing a den my heart......this is IT
Jayfeather: I want to steal
I'm listening to Burn Pygmalion! and "viscious kin" is very fitting for this series ehhehe
I love violetpaw and twigpaw btw
Tumblr media
IM CRYING
I cant believe Alderpaw is an all lives matter kinda guy
Yesss rebel get those herbs alreadyyy
Starclan has agreed to let kestrelflight kill onestar, goodbye onestar /j
Epic I love you harespring
Alderpaw being confused at Jayfeather saying he is proud is the Best
What an ending! Terrifying and hopeful at the same time, I am very excited to see the hijinks Bramblestar and Rowanstar will get into and how they will go searching for Skyclan, it was PAINFUL to have that prologue talking about them with 0 hope of them showing up again Nothing Nada Zilch, feels like that and the ending were just 2 remind us that that was still the major plot point hahaha, I appreciate it I guess. I'm glad Violetpaw and Twigpaw are on uh good terms despite it all, not very ideal and they're both upset but they still consider each other siblings and know they care about each other :'0 Alderheart getting his name is epic too!!! I was hoping he would soon. I loved everything about his interactions with Jayfeather here, loved all the characterizations really it was just top notch, Onestar being a bastard, Needletail, OH AND SHADOWCLAN JOINING THE ROGUES, top notch!!!! The ancap apprentices were a riot.
This was a good book!!! Flowed very nicely and smoothly, reading in shadowclan's point of view for more than around 3 chapters was great. I can barely wait for the rest!!! Will Violetpaw find belonging in this new era of Shadowclan??? Or will she leave again??? Will Alderheart somehow figure out where Skyclan is and get them together at the lake??? Will Twigpaw get all the spicy details of Dovewing's secret romance with Tigerheart??? Who knows!! But I am very excited to find out what happens next :D

Cathuman Headcanons - Part 2
I guess this is a 'part two' to my first cathuman headcanon post, focusing more on genetics and physiology of the characters. Admittedly I've been iffy sharing them, because there's no way to please everyone, as people have their different interpretations. And, these are mine. Please be nice. Please?
Spoilers for later books and The Broken Code Below.
ThunderClan are the British Isles and America. Some have 0.0001% Scandinavian in them (which represents ancient SkyClan blood before SkyClan were forced out). Occasionally you get some French and German in there.
ShadowClan are Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. Sometimes you get Northern Africa.
WindClan are Eastern and South-eastern Asia. WindClan is a very uniform population, so the variety does not differ that much. Surprisingly, there is a more Eastern Asian population than South-eastern.
RiverClan are the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the Mediterranean.
SkyClan was originally ancient Northern Europe, but the new SkyClan is a mix of places. It ranges from Northern Europe and Africa to Australia.
-
ThunderClan
Thunder was half Scandinavian (Clear Sky), half Roman (Storm).
Firestar is half English, half Irish. When he gets mad, his voice gets an Irish lilt to it, something that tickles Sandstorm to bits.
Jake, his father was 100% Irish. Tallstar absolutely loved his accent, and never got tired of him talking.
Hollypelt and Ravenwing are siblings. Both are from Somalia, and passed down their genetic traits to their offspring (Fuzzypelt, Moonflower and Goosefeather). They then passed their genetic traits to Bluestar, Snowfur, and all of Robinwing's kits.
Windflight's father was Chinese. Thistleclaw, Rosetail, Sweetpaw, Dappletail, Thrushpelt and Tawnyspots are all 1/4th.
Stonepelt was Stormtail's father, and was Russian. Stormtail passed down his genetics to his kits, making them 50% Russian, 25% African, 25% English (+ other Western Europe countries). This combination made a very unique physical appearance.
Smallear is half Scottish (Scottish fold, hah!), half Spanish. His kits, Lionheart and Goldenflower are 1/4th Spanish, and since I headcanon he's also Graystripe's father, that makes Graystripe (in my headcanon) 1/4th Spanish as well.
Halftail and Robinwing I headcanon as siblings, and they're both 1/2 Greek. Their kits, Mousefur and Runningwind, and the whole slew of Robinwing's kits are 1/4th Greek.
This makes Dustpelt, Ravenpaw, Frostfur, and Brindleface 1/4th African, 1/4th Greek, 1/4th English + other.
Adderfang has ancient Scandinavian (SkyClan) blood in him, and passed it down to all his following generations.
Leafpool had kids with Crowfeather, who was primarily Japanese. This makes Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze 50% Asian. Hollyleaf and Jayfeather (somewhat) looked extremely similar to Crowfeather, which confused the ThunderClanners. The tall tale Squirrelflight spun is that she thought Leopardfoot was like 3% Asian, and maybe Hollyleaf inherited that 3% by sheer luck. Surprisingly, the clan believed it.
(But in reality, a lot of ThunderClan thought Squirrelflight had kits with a WindClan cat, and was trying to hide that fact. They never thought a sacred medicine cat might be the mother.)
By extension, Lionblaze's kits are 1/4th Japanese.
Millie is from Greece. Graystripe ended up meeting her there. Her kits are 50%. And Blossomfall's kits are 1/4th.
(Somehow Blossomfall was born with vitiligo, as she has lighter colored patches on her shoulders and back.)
Cloudtail's father was from Sweden. Cloudtail is 50% Swedish, and his kits are 1/4th Swedish.
Daisy is from South America (Argentina). She got with Smoky, who was from Mexico. Their kits are 50/50 each. Berrynose's kits, Cherryfall and Molewhisker are both 1/4th Mexican and South American. Berrynose, Hazeltail and Mousewhisker are all bilingual.
-
ShadowClan
Tall Shadow was from Scandinavia the Germanic tribes. She lived in the bitter North and had quite the pale complexion.
Yellowfang is 1/4th Iranian, 1/2 Russian, 1/4th Polish. Her mother was 50% Iranian, and her grandfather was 100%. Silverflame got with a Persian! Eh, eh? I'll see my out.
Russetfur was 100% Iranian.
Scorchwind, Raggedstar's brother, Rowanclaw's father, and Hal's son, was 50% Iranian. Rowanclaw was 1/4th.
Kinkfur was African (Sudan, Egypt), her son, Sparrowtail is 50%. His daughter, Needletail, was 1/4th.
Blackstar was about 98% Russian. He had a thick accent and stereotypical deep voice, and he took great joy in scarring would-be trespassers with it. With the younger kids, he used a much softer voice.
-
WindClan
Wind Runner came from Ancient China, although she had ancestry in South-eastern Asia.
Gorsestar came from South-Eastern Asia.
Gray Wing was from Scandinavia.
Tallstar was nearly 100% Japanese. While Tallstar loved Jake's Irish accent, Jake never got tired of hearing Tallstar talk to himself in his own language.
Onestar, Morningflower and Ashfoot were all mostly Japanese, with Taiwan and the Philippines in small percentages.
Heathertail's mother, Whitetail, was Korean. Heathertail is 50% Japanese, 50% Korean.
Deadfoot, Crowfeather's father, was 6'5". It contributed to weak knees and poor joints. This is likely where Hollyleaf's height came from, since Crowfeather himself is 6'0". Hollyleaf is 5'11".
Redclaw was 100% Indian while Brackenwing was 100% Filipino. Their kit, Shrewclaw, was 50/50. His kit, Mudclaw, was 1/4th each.
-
RiverClan
River Ripple was from Africa, and his darker skin was a surprise to the other settlers who came from the far North. He kept his hair in long braids, something which RiverClan adopted as tradition. Now, it is not uncommon to see RiverClan characters with braids somewhere in their hair.
Hailstar was from Jamaica and the Carribean. His kits were 1/4th.
Mosspelt is Puerto Rican. Willowpelt, her daughter, is 1/2 Puerto Rican, 1/4th French, 1/4th Cuban.
Dawnflower is another of Mosspelt's kits. Her mate was from Kenya. Her kits, Minnowtail, Pebblefoot and Tumblekit, are 50% Kenyan, 25% Puerto Rican, 12.5% French and Cuban.
Sasha was Russian. Hawkfrost, Mothwing and Tadpole are/were half-Russian.
Mudfur, Leopardstar's father, was Brazilian. His mate, Brightsky, was French. Leopardstar is half Brazilian, half French.
Fallowtail was 100% French while Reedfeather was 100% Japanese. Their kits, Willowbreeze and Graypool are half each. Willowbreeze's kit, Silverstream, is 1/4th Japanese.
Crookedstar and Oakheart were 50% Italian, 25% French, 25% Other.
Blackclaw, Mistystar's mate, was 50/50 African and Cuban. Their kits are/were 1/4th each.
-
SkyClan
Clear Sky was from Scandinavia.
Spottedpelt and Gorseclaw, Cloudstar and Birdwing's kits, stayed behind as the last remaining bloodline containing Northern Europe. Their line continues on in very small percentages today.
Clovertail is about 93% Swedish. The rest of her genetics possibly might have Mediterranean (RiverClan) origins.
Patchfoot is 100% Finnish. His and Clovertail's kits are 50% Finnish, 45% Swedish, 6% Mediterranean.
Finleap's father is Sandynose, making Finleap 25% Finish. Eh? Eh? Walks away in shame
Leafstar is Canadian, but has ancestry in Norway.
Echosong is Australian.
Ebonyclaw is African American.
Cherrytail is Half Serbian, half Bulgarian, and a small percentage Swedish.
Sharpclaw, Hawkwing's father, is from Africa. His son, Hawkwing, is 50% African, 1/4th Serbian, 1/4th Bulgarian, and a tiny tiny amount Swedish.
Pebbleshine, Hawkwing's mate, is...very closely related to Hawkwing let's move on... ._.
Their kits, Violetshine and Twigbranch, are 25% African, 25% Bulgarian, 25% Serbian, and 25% Other.
(Twigbranch has vitiligo, with lighter patches on her face, hands, and shoulders.)
Tree is from the Netherlands. Making his and Violetshine's kits - well, a whole bunch of places.
-
Characters Outside the Clans
Purdy is Scottish. No butts about it.
Sol is from Italy. He often cites Machiavelli as inspiration to him.
Scourge is half Irish, half English. 1% Evil, 99% Hot gas.
Barley is mostly English with some Irish, lives in the South, and has a heavy Southern accent. Yes, he does chew a piece of straw in his mouth.
Midnight is Ancient. Really old. Lived waaay back in 10,000 BC. She came from Africa. And is fricking tall (6'4").
Rock is Ancient. Even older. We have no idea where he came from.
Bone is from Nigeria.
The rogues that Tallstar interacted with in his super edition were all from South-Eastern Asia.
Jingo is from Italy.
Ah, I think that's about it!

Storm Rising, a Sandstar AU.
Chapter 1
previous | fanfiction
A large, red-brown tabby slunk with purpose through the wooded forest. He continued, making his way through the trees until he sighted water. At the edge of the river, he paused, making note of the chill in the air. It would not be long before leaf-bare struck the forest with its icy grip. The tom glanced out over the rushing current, before plunging into its depths, swimming confidently to the other side. Although he wasn’t on his side of the bank anymore, he stood with his head raised high, and waited.
Minutes passed, before a bush rustled and a tall, golden-spotted she-cat prowled into sight. She spoke in an abrupt, authoritative tone the tom wasn’t used to hearing.
“Tigerstar. He doesn’t have much longer. A few days, at most.”
Tigerstar dipped his head. “Good. Once he dies, send a messenger. I will come to your camp with some of my warriors.”
The she-cat hesitated, the tip of her tail twitching. “We will have equal power in this, won’t we? I don’t want to join you if you’re going to take over.”
Tigerstar sounded hurt. “Of course we will be equal! Leopardfur, I wouldn’t dream of abusing your trust. Together, ThunderClan and RiverClan will be stronger than ever before.”
Leopardfur’s gaze betrayed nothing, but she nodded anyway and retreated back towards her camp, leaving Tigerstar alone.
Meanwhile, in the RiverClan camp, cats were crowded around a large pale brown tabby. His twisted jaw was trembling as his body was wracked with violent coughs. Closest to him, a silver tabby she-cat sat, gently bathing the tom’s head with damp moss. She whispered reassurances to him, much like a mother would do to her kits. It seemed that he would join StarClan before the sun rose.
Sandstorm paused, her attention caught by a faint rustling in a bush ahead of her. Prey?
The ginger tabby opened her jaws, hoping to identify whatever was causing the mysterious disturbance. Nothing.
She crouched down, and began to inch forward. There’s something behind that bush, but what? Still no scent. Could it be an enemy warrior, disguising themselves somehow? I don’t think it’s a mouse.
She crept closer, green eyes narrowing as she slipped under the foliage, claws unsheathed and sharp, just to find herself opposite a calico tom with a distinctly fluffy ginger tail. His amber eyes seemed to be reflecting starlight, despite it being close to sunhigh.
Redtail! He’s… alive?
Sandstorm threw herself at the small tom, expecting him to playfully roll over and play-fight with her, just like he did when she was a kit. Instead, she fell right through him, onto the ground with a thud. The tom was standing in the exact same position, sadness in his starry amber eyes.
He isn’t here. I’m dreaming. Sandstorm felt stupid for not realising sooner.
Redtail finally spoke. His voice sounded different - deeper, maybe, than it was when he was alive. His posture was different, too. He stood taller, looked more confident. StarClan must have granted him the body he had always wanted!
Redtail was born with a body similar to most she-cats, but he’d always known he was really a tom. There was some confusion among the Clan when he first spoke out about it, apparently, but Sandstorm hadn’t been born at the time. She had always known him as one of her fathers. It didn’t matter that they weren’t blood related.
His deep voice sounded familiar, yet new at the same time. He spoke as if he were in a trance, his starry eyes growing pale and glassy.
“Embrace the darkness, for there you will find your strength. Embrace the darkness, but do not fall victim to it. Do not fall.”
“What? Father, is this some kind of.. prophecy? What do you mean? Darkness?” Sandstorm’s mind buzzed with thoughts. I haven’t seen him at all since he died, except in those horrible nightmares. I finally get a chance to speak with him and I get this?
The young tabby snapped out of her irritated confusion when Redtail hissed, his fur standing on end. “Do not fall. Do not fall.”
Is he even talking to me?
She looked around, suddenly noticing pairs of gleaming eyes surrounding her. What’s going on? Who are they?
Redtail’s face contorted in pain, his voice raising to a pitiful screech. “Fall. Fall. You will fall. You will fall. You will fall. You will fall.”
“Redtail! What do you mean?”
Sandstorm saw faint shapes of more transparent cats, chanting ‘fall!’ ‘fall!’ ‘fall!’, pressing closer to her and Redtail. She could hardly see them, but she felt their presence somehow. They made her feel like she was suffocating.
Redtail reared up on his hind legs, his claws slashing outwards at the other ghostly cats. He stared at his daughter, his eyes sorrowful. “Run.”
Sandstorm awoke in her nest, her chest tight, heart racing. She glanced wildly around the warriors den. Everything was normal, everyone was asleep. On one side of her, Fireheart was lying stretched out, his hind legs poking into Sandstorm’s nest. He was snoring. On her other side, Dustpelt was curled up in a ball, his tail tucked over his ears to block out the sound of the orange tom. Everything was fine.
Still, Sandstorm felt trapped, like the horrible ghostly cats were still pressing around her telling her she would ‘fall’.
I have to get out of here. Get some air.
She picked her way past the sleeping cats, careful not to tread on Mousefur’s tail as she passed the wiry she-cat. As she poked her head out of the warriors den, her mind was still a mess, her nerves hadn’t calmed. She jumped, hearing a sneering voice yowl on the other side of the clearing. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join for a Clan meeting!”
Tigerstar. It’s the middle of the night! What does he want?
For the first time, Sandstorm noticed Leopardfur standing near the entrance to the gorse tunnel, her spotted fur looking silver in the moonlight. She had a patrol of RiverClan cats beside her. Are we under attack? They didn’t look hostile, but not friendly either.
“Uh, are you going to let us out?” Dustpelt muttered, nudging her with a front paw.
“Sorry,” Sandstorm replied, moving out of the way.
The dark tabby stretched and lashed his tail. “What could be so important, that he feels the need to call a meeting in the middle of the night? Wait, RiverClan are here?”
Sandstorm settled herself down in the clearing near the warriors den, Dustpelt and Fireheart sat to her left, already debating over the RiverClan cats.
“Maybe they need help with something?” Fireheart speculated.
“They don’t look like they’re having any problems. Besides, the river won’t freeze for a while yet. What else do they ever have an issue with?” muttered Dustpelt.
“Crookedstar might be sick. Didn’t you see how frail he looked at the last gathering?”
Fireheart’s tone was sympathetic, unlike Dustpelt, who hadn’t quite woken up properly yet. The dark brown tabby shook his pelt out and sighed. “If they needed herbs or medical assistance, they’d have just gone to Yellowfang.” His ear twitched. “You’ve been awfully quiet, Sandstorm, what do you think?”
Sandstorm didn’t respond, she was too busy thinking over her dream.
“Hey.” Fireheart gave her a gentle prod. “You okay?”
Sandstorm jumped slightly, ears flattened. “Oh, sorry! I just spaced out for a bit there.”
Fireheart and Dustpelt exchanged a concerned glance. Before any of them could say any more, Tigerstar began to speak.
“ThunderClan. I regret to inform you that Crookedstar has passed away.”
He paused to allow time for some sorrowful murmurs from the gathered cats. Crookedstar has usually been fair towards ThunderClan, except for in Sunningrocks disputes. The loss of a leader, especially so soon after Bluestar, was a shame for all the Clans.
“It is truly a sad day for the forest. Crookedstar was a strong leader.”
Sandstorm found herself frowning. Dustpelt leaned over and whispered to her. “Sad? He wasn’t this upset over Bluestar’s death.”
“Maybe he’s just saying that because RiverClan are here.” she replied.
Tigerstar continued. “But he wasn’t strong enough. He didn’t see the true potential RiverClan holds. Leopardfur, however, does. We have seen that the only way our Clans will be truly strong is if we join them together.”
This time, Tigerstar was interrupted by confused chatter and howls of protest from ThunderClan. Dustpelt was on his paws, spluttering in disbelief. “What the fuck? What the fuck!”
“Enough!” Tigerstar narrowed his eyes at the assembled cats. “RiverClan’s queens, kits, and elders will stay in their own camps, with some of their warriors to guard them. The rest of warriors will join our patrols starting tomorrow. Leopardfur and I will be joint leaders. If you have any complaints, direct them to the dirtplace. Go back to your dens.”
With that, the big tabby jumped down from the Highrock and retreated to his den. The RiverClan cats stayed huddled in a small group, unsure of what to do.
Fireheart looked bewildered. “Is that all he’s going to say?”
He scowled and puffed out his chest in an attempt to imitate Tigerstar. “Wake up ThunderClan, Crookedstar is dead. Oh, by the way, RiverClan is joining us now. No big deal. Goodnight.”
Dustpelt hadn’t said any more, but any cat could see he was furious, his fur stood on end, and his amber eyes were narrowed in disdain.
Sandstorm sighed and padded back to her nest, trying to block out the sound of her Clanmates discussing and arguing over the meeting. I’m so tired. I’ll deal with this in the morning.
After what seemed like only a few minutes, Sandstorm was awake again. She didn’t dream this time, and had pushed her thoughts of Redtail and the ghostly cats aside for now. She had other problems to think about, namely RiverClan. Graystripe hadn’t assigned her to a patrol, so she decided she’d go for a walk to clear her head. Maybe she’d find some prey, too. She looked around for Dustpelt or Fireheart, hoping one of her best friends would be around to accompany her, but they were nowhere to be found. The toms must have taken their apprentices, Cloudpaw and Thornpaw, out. Sandstorm’s ears lowered. Cinderpaw had been her apprentice.
When the young grey she-cat was injured by a monster on the Thunderpath, Tigerstar had insisted to Bluestar that she was unfit to be a warrior. Once she had recovered, Cinderpaw decided to become Yellowfang’s apprentice. Personally, Sandstorm thought Cinderpaw could still be a warrior despite her leg injury, but Bluestar had made the decision. I miss training Cinderpaw. She’d be a great warrior. Now that Tigerstar is leader, he can do whatever he likes.
Her tail lashed as she padded through the gorse tunnel. What does he think he’s doing, joining two Clans? I don’t trust him at all. If he becomes even more ambitious, will anyone be able to stop him? Is there even any point to trying? How many cats will suffer because of him? She let out a long sigh. Her internal, questioning, pessimism seemed to have no end these days.
Usually, Sandstorm was well-focused. She was one of the most skilled hunters in the Clan, but today she was distracted, her lack of sleep combined with her anxiety over Tigerstar led to her not concentrating on her surroundings. She was abruptly torn from her thoughts as she tripped over a soft heap nestled near the top of the ravine. “Huh?” Sandstorm shook out her pelt and noticed it was a cat she’d walked into.
“Can you watch where you’re going?!” hissed the cat. Sandstorm realised that it was a young RiverClan warrior. She had seen the silver tabby at Gatherings before, but they’d never talked.
What was her name again? Silver-something. Silverpelt? No.. Silverpool? Hmm.. Silverstream! That’s it.
She didn’t seem particularly friendly at the moment, her pale blue eyes blazing with annoyance.
“Sorry.” Sandstorm muttered. “I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Clearly.” Silverstream shot back.
Sandstorm thought she should try and smooth things over. They were one Clan now, as much as they hated it. Besides, I don’t want any more enemies. Maybe if I get RiverClan cats on our side, we could help each other. “What are you doing out here anyway?” asked the ginger tabby.
Silverstream gave her a sharp look, as if she wasn’t expecting Sandstorm to stay and chat. After a pause, she spoke. “I wanted to get away from your camp. It’s hard to be so close to ThunderClan cats.”
Sandstorm felt slightly stung. She hadn’t expected the RiverClan cats to be overly happy about their Clans merging, but she had hoped to make friends. It wasn’t Sandstorm’s fault Tigerstar was ambitious. “Well, uh. Okay. Sorry. I’ll… see you around, I guess.”
Silverstream didn’t respond.
As she padded away, Sandstorm decided it was time to give herself a motivational speech. Get it together. Stop worrying, and focus on hunting instead. You’re a warrior, not a kit!
It wasn’t long before she spotted a pigeon, searching for worms underneath the shade of an old oak tree. She slid down into the hunting position, and with a quick yet graceful pounce, Sandstorm caught it.
Later, by the time she had reached the camp, most of the ThunderClan cats were settling down to enjoy their meals. Tigerstar was standing by the fresh-kill pile. “Nice catch.” He rumbled.
Sandstorm couldn’t help glancing at the RiverClan warriors, who were clustered together, looking irritated. “Why aren’t they eating?”
Tigerstar sneered, “They caught nothing. Slimy fish-eaters can’t hunt under our trees. They’re warriors, if they catch nothing, they eat nothing.”
I wonder what Leopardfur had to say about that. It isn’t fair. They aren’t used to our territory! “Why not send them to the river to hunt, then?” she asked.
Tigerstar shot her an interested look. “Well, that would be too easy for them. They’ll only be TigerClan warriors once they learn true hardship.”  Sandstorm felt the fur rise on the back of her neck. “As if starving them is going to make them loyal to you!” she snapped. The leader’s eyes widened, and Sandstorm took a step back. Her patience had worn out, she had forgotten who she was talking to.
Tigerstar leaned in close and murmured, “Not many cats would question their leader like that. You aren’t afraid, even though I could.. dispose of you with one swipe.” He unsheathed his claws to emphasise his statement, and Sandstorm felt thoroughly unsettled. Arrogant asshole. “That’s why I like you, Sandstorm. Once you lose that.. unfortunate compassion, you’ll be a great warrior.” With that, the dark tom stalked off towards his den. Sandstorm felt even more uncomfortable. As much as she hated to admit it, having Tigerstar trust her wouldn’t be a bad thing. Perhaps she could try to gain his trust further, maybe if she pretended to be cold and uncaring, he would reveal his plans and she could report back to the Clan. No. That’d never work.
The she-cat shook out her pelt. She didn’t want to think about that right now. She glanced over in the direction of the RiverClan cats again. Tigerstar had disappeared from sight, and his deputy, Graystripe, was busy stuffing his face with fresh-kill. No one will notice if I take them something. She grabbed the pigeon she had caught and carried it over to where the RiverClan cats were gathered. She spotted Silverstream sitting nearby, so she padded over and dropped the bird at the she-cat’s paws. Maybe this will make up for earlier.
The silver tabby looked up, her eyes narrowing as she saw Sandstorm. “If you want to gloat about your prey, go somewhere else.” she muttered.
Sandstorm twitched an ear. “I wouldn’t do that. Uh, I know I didn’t make a very good first impression, and I noticed you weren’t allowed to eat so, here.” She expected the she-cat to hiss or snarl, so Sandstorm was quite surprised when Silverstream sounded grateful, maybe even friendly. “..Thanks. That’s actually really nice of you. Won’t you get in trouble?” Is she.. worried?
“Don’t worry, we’re all one Clan now. It’ll be fine.” Sandstorm reassured her, feeling relieved.
Silverstream purred, “Yeah. One Clan.” She paused to try the fresh-kill, before passing it on to the other RiverClanners. “I’m sorry I snapped at you earlier. It’s just been difficult, adjusting to all this. Not just the whole Tigerstar-taking-over-my-Clan thing, but losing Crookedstar as well. He was my father.”
Sandstorm felt a stab of pity for the young she-cat. She could relate, as her fathers, Redtail and Runningwind, had also passed. Thanks to Tigerstar, probably. “I’m sorry that he’s gone…He’ll be watching from StarClan though. He’d be proud of you.” She mewed awkwardly.
The silver tabby tilted her head to one side, her eyes narrowing again. “What makes you think that he’d be proud of me? You don’t even know me.”
Sandstorm’s ears flattened in dismay. Oh no! I said the wrong thing! Just when it seemed like we were becoming friends! “S-sorry.” She stammered. “I just thought..”
Silverstream sighed. “No, I’m sorry. You meant well, I shouldn’t be so snappy. I need to remember that not all ThunderClan cats are as bad as Tigerstar.”
Sandstorm relaxed. “It’s okay.”
Silence.  “Well… I might head off to my den now…” For some reason, she wanted to stay and talk to Silverstream more. I better not push it.
The silver tabby dipped her head. “Goodnight, and thank you for the pigeon.”
“No problem!” Sandstorm replied. As she rose to her paws, Silverstream purred, amusement clear in her tone, “Watch you don’t trip over anyone on your way to the den.”
Sandstorm snorted, flicking the she-cat over the ear with her tail. As she curled up in her nest, she realised her conversation with Silverstream had eased some of her anxiety. She seems like a good warrior. And she doesn’t trust Tigerstar. Maybe having RiverClan cats here won’t be so bad after all.

Chapter Eight
Rosy was, in her own way, rather charming.
Fireheart didn’t plan to add much to their conversation - his Clan teachings had kept him from wanting to interact with kittypets - but he quickly found himself chatting easily with his supposed sister around the prey he was carrying. She still took up most of the actual dialog, not that it mattered. Fireheart was content to hear her talk on about herself, their mother, and everything she’d seen when moving houses. She was earnest and excitable and, somehow, everything she said captured his interest.
“I really wish you could have gotten to grow up with mother,” Rosy said. “She was wonderful. You’ve probably never seen a cat half as pretty or half as kind as she was.”
“I knew someone once,” Fireheart said. “A tortoiseshell.”
“Where’s she now?” Rosy said.
There was a tension in Fireheart’s throat. “Elsewhere.”
Rosy hummed. “Maybe she’ll come back soon. I’d like to meet her someday, if she’s like mother.”
Fireheart said nothing.
As they walked, Rosy had to step quickly and half-jump forward every now and then to keep up with Fireheart’s pace. When she started to run out of breath, he made himself slow down, even though the warrior in him wanted to keep up a good pace. She murmured something gratefully and seemed to relax a little.
The houses continued forever into the horizon. Fireheart marveled at how all of them looked the exact same - it was impossible to tell how far he had gone away from the border, especially with the snow turning everything white and faded out. The road, at least, was silent and empty, and they could walk on it without trouble.
“I just realized I’ve been talking about myself the whole time,” Rosy said suddenly. “What about you? What’s your home like?”
“It’s...something else,” Fireheart said. “The forest is pretty safe, but I’ve been in a fight or two, and I have to avoid the Snake-rocks so I don’t get bitten.”
“What’s a snake?”
“It’s a tail with a head and fangs, basically.” Fireheart caught a whiff of bird and turned to follow it. “They can kill you with a single bite. My friend lost a parent that way.”
Rosy stared at him with big, scared eyes. “I don’t think I like the sound of them.”
“They’re pretty dangerous.” Fireheart paused when the trail disappeared, tasting the air in all directions. “I’ve only seen a few myself, and I’d be fine with never seeing them again.”
“And you live out there with them?” Rosy said. “Why?”
“Hold on.” Fireheart caught a chirp and crouched, sneaking towards where it had come from. “Wait here.”
Rosy stepped over to a snowless piece of ground and sat down.
Fireheart went under a few wooden things with four legs in a flat, treeless area, caught sight of a shivering sparrow, and dashed after it. He was too far away - the bird quickly noticed him and flew off onto the nearest roof. Fireheart cursed, watching it flutter back the way they came, and returned to Rosy.
“Anyway,” he said, “The snakes just live there in the rocks. We have the rest of the territory to avoid them.”
Rosy looked up in the direction the bird had gone, her paw on the squirrel. “I thought you had something already.”
“I do,” said Fireheart.
“So why do you need a bird, too?”
“I’m not the only one that needs to eat, is why.” Fireheart considered his options. “We might as well go back, see if we can follow that bird.”
“How many cats do you live with?” Rosy said.
“A lot,” Fireheart said. “Way past counting.”
“Do they hunt?”
“All the time.”
“But you still need to kill more things.”
“Yeah. Sometimes we don’t catch anything. It’s better to have more than you need.”
“Oh.” Rosy backed away from the squirrel to let Fireheart pick it up. They turned around and walked in silence, Rosy with a very thoughtful expression.
As Fireheart had hoped, the sparrow landed in the yard he had first caught the squirrel, pecking at the feeder. He dropped the squirrel, sat down and waited for the bird to move to a place where he could catch it. Rosy stood beside him, shuffling in the snow.
“You can go home, if you want,” Fireheart said to her. “I don’t want you to be out here if you’re uncomfortable.”
Rosy started to protest, but nodded and said sheepishly, “It’s pretty cold.”
“Just a moment.” Fireheart heard the feeder creak and jumped onto the fence. He hissed in irritation. The bird was flying off, far out of reach.
“Are you going to keep hunting?” Rosy said.
“No, not here. I think I’ll go home. I know there’s something there.” Fireheart picked up the squirrel. “It was nice talking to you.”
Rosy stood straight and started to approach him, but backed up, tail waving cheerfully. “Come back soon, Fireheart!”
“I don’t think I can,” Fireheart said. “But I’m sure I’ll see you around.”
He went off at a run, turned the corner and slowed down to a lope. The trees were shaded in stark black-and-white, so he nearly missed the slight, dark cat waiting at the border just beneath them.
“Nice catch,” Raventhroat said when Fireheart reached him.
“This’ll have to be for the Clan.” Fireheart dropped it and shook the snow out of his pelt. “Greystripe’s on his own tonight.”
“Mm.” Raventhroat turned his head a little to the left, opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again. “You were gone for a while.”
“I was hunting,” Fireheart said. “I, uh... I did meet someone, though.”
“Oh, no-” Raventhroat looked at him with horror.
“Not like that,” Fireheart said sharply. “She said she was my sister. We talked about family and stuff.”
“Oh!” Raventhroat’s fur flattened. “That’s nice. So you have some family around here?”
“I guess so.” Fireheart grabbed his squirrel and jerked his head. Raventhroat nodded and walked with him into the forest.
There was a pause before Raventhroat managed to get out what he was thinking. “I- well, it sucks that you can’t see her all that often.”
Fireheart looked at him.
“I mean, she’s a kittypet,” Raventhroat said. “It’s not like Mousefur and Teaselfoot, with different assignments; you’re separated by a border.”
“They’re related?” Fireheart said.
“Yeah, brother and sister. How did you not know that?”
“Huh.”
“Maybe you can talk to Bluestar and ask her if you can visit or something.” Raventhroat looked down. “She’ll probably say no, though. Kittypets and codes and all that.”
“The code really doesn’t want us to have fun, does it?” Fireheart said.
“It keeps us in our place,” Raventhroat said quickly. “It protects us from doing stupid things with tragic consequences. Most of us.”
Fireheart made a noise of acknowledgment. The two were then quiet until they reached camp, which was mostly deserted.
“That’s a big squirrel for the season,” Brindleface said when they entered. Her eyes glittered. “Where’d you find that?”
“Stretched out my hunting area,” Fireheart said, dropping the squirrel. “Here, share it with someone.”
“Me?” Brindleface blinked, the hunger momentarily gone from her face. “Shouldn’t you take that to the elders or the queens?”
“Brindleface, you’re thinner than I am.” Fireheart pushed the squirrel towards her with a paw. “I’m sure someone’s already got them covered, anyway.”
To her credit, Brindleface protested a bit, but she quickly faltered and accepted the prey. She got out a “thanks” before she dug into the meat. Fireheart was relieved to see that she ate like a decent person, rather than making a mess like Yellowfang and Cinderpaw. He nodded to her and turned back for the entrance.
Just as he exited, Teaselfoot trotted down the slight slope and over the stones that led to camp.
“Hey,” Teaselfoot said.
“Hey,” Fireheart said. Just as Teaselfoot was about to pass him, he said, “What’s it like, being a brother?”
Teaselfoot stopped and looked at him. “It’s, uh, fine. I like having a sister. Why?”
“Just wondering,” Fireheart said. He trotted up the way Teaselfoot had come and back out into the forest.
“Just wondering, that’s all,” he mumbled to himself, something hollow settling into a thin and faint ache in his chest.

Do the entire Warrior Cat emoji ask post. If you want of course.
i’ve been meaning to answer this for Days but this is the first time in ages that ive been on my computer so i can answer properly skjfskj. anyways. here goes. a couple of them i didnt do bc i didnt have proper answers. under the cut bc its still Long lmao
🐈: What cat do you relate to the most to? squirrelflight, but mostly when she was an apprentice on the quest. so i suppose the proper answer would be squirrelpaw
😻: Favourite ship/s? as for canon ships, ravenpaw/barley and tallstar/jake. other than that, hollyleaf/cinderheart is a favorite, and leafpool/sorreltail and ivypool/blossomfall are also Forces For Good
😺: If you had/have a pet cat/s, did you give it a warrior cat name? yes lmao. i don’t remember khatru’s, but i’m pretty sure basie’s is branchstripe
📕: How long have you been a reader? since i was twelve, so seven years
📚: Favorite book or series? i’m Extremely fond of crookedstar’s promise
🐱: If you had a warrior name, what would it be? acornheart or acornflower or something along those lines
🌿: What clan would you belong to? probably thunderclan
🏡: Favorite kittypet? does pinestar count lmao. otherwise probably cody
🐅: Favorite cat? squirrelflight, whitestorm, lionheart, ravenpaw, hollyleaf,
🏩: Favorite med cat? pebble heart, featherwhisker, brambleberry, and ofc yellowfang like everyone else lmao
😿: Least favorite cat? skystar gets on my damn nerves for the most part lmao. i could also live without thornclaw and spiderleg
😼: Best Villain? always thought hawkfrost was a pretty neat character
⛺: Favorite clan? i love riverclan so much tbh
⭐: Favorite leader? oooh. when i was younger i’d always say sunstar, Entirely bc he was once mistakenly described as yellow lmao. in reality it’s probably riverstar, though i’m also incredibly fond of mistystar and leafstar
🍃: Ever roleplayed or larped as a warrior cat? Oh Boy Have I
🌈: Favorite breed and or pelt color? i’m always fond of brown cats for some reason. i also like light gingers like sandstorm, and any cat who is described as “yellow” has a special place in my heart ((see: micah, sunstar, and more recently wasptail and lioneye, even though lioneye is a terrible name and the most interesting thing wasptail ever did was die of yellowcough lmao))
💓: First warrior cat oc? their names were streamtail and stripefur. streamtail was entirely unremarkable, and stripefur had a melodramatic forbidden romance with the medicine cat, and then turned rogue and tried to kill every cat in his clan for like, no real reason lmao
✏: If you rewrote Warriors, what would you change? whitestorm wouldn’t have died when he did, thornclaw would be dead and brackenfur and brightheart would be in the elders den by now, squirrelflight and tawnypelt would be leaders instead of bramblestar and rowanstar, ivypool and blossomfall would be Gay
🌋: What would your tribe name be? ive literally never thought about this before, somehow?? how about Acorn That Falls From Oak
🐦: Favorite Tribe cat? honestly? i have no idea. i havent read a book involving the tribe cats in Ages

Tallstar’s Revenge: Chapters 10-18
Here we go, @ailuronymy ! I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the situation with Sandgorse here, when the time comes. Particularly his rage on Tallpaw at the end of chapter thirteen and then the whole thing with Sparrow and the tunnel.
1) First impressions? Summarize?
Chapter 10: Sandgorse has a brief moment of being good at something before he’s back to being a jerk — and he becomes a reckless and dangerously oblivious jerk on top of it!
Chapter 11: Tallpaw’s first Gathering.
Chapter 12: The visitors arrive and Tallpaw gets a denmate he can actually stand talking to.
Chapter 13: Shrewpaw and Tallpaw hone skills, Tallpaw does a good thing, Dawnstripe is one of very few even slightly responsible cats in the Clan, and Sandgorse becomes unquestionably worthy of exile.
Chapter 14: Tallpaw gets a much needed pep-talk.
Chapter 15: Tallpaw is first too eager and then too slow, while a convoluted battle kills Brackenwing for no good reason.
Chapter 16: Tallpaw needs counselling, Shrewpaw needs more clamping down, and tunnelling is yet again shown as a major problem for the Clan.
Chapter 17: Heatherstar is forced to reconsider tunnelling, a vigil is held, and Sandgorse seems to finally be done away with.
Chapter 18: Sandgorse is dead and Tallpaw really needs counselling.
2) How did I feel?
Chapter 10:
-The one positive quality Sandgorse has is he’s good at his job. The annoying thing is that the way he explains the differences between the different paw steps is actually pretty good, as is the way he talked about only ever working in pairs, etc — I think he could even make a good teacher, if I didn’t already know he was so abusive. Why can’t he be like this all the time?
-I am genuinely surprised to have Tallpaw think to himself that Sandgorse won’t let anything bad happen to him. He turned his back to his own son’s Apprentice ceremony and is much colder with him now that Tallpaw is finally doing what he wants to do — what on earth about Sandgorse’s behaviour makes Tallpaw feel safe under his watch? If it were me, I’d have asked Dawnstripe to go down with anyone other than Sandgorse!
-I hate the repeated mention of crossing borders via tunnels. The blatant breaking of the Code bugs me — I’d bet that if any of the other Clans used tunnels to sneak into WindClan territory, WindClan would be fuming. But because they do it it’s okay?
-Okay so Sandgorse is so single-minded he doesn’t notice Tallpaw’s nervous voice — just says they’re nearly there. Mistmouse doesn’t notice either. That bugs me. It seems absolutely no one in this Clan can notice voice shifts!
-Ugh, Sandgorse being all ‘this is what I’ve always dreamed of’. I figure we’re maybe supposed to feel a bit of sympathy for Sandgorse somehow but all I can do is roll my eyes, this seems like an attempt to guilt Tallpaw into changing his mind. I wish he’d just drop it and let Tallpaw be happy.
-The one thing I liked about the escape scene was Tallpaw’s note that he couldn’t curve his spine/run properly in the tunnel. Yay, he actually internalized at least some of his running lessons! The scene itself seemed like it was trying to be dramatic, but I think the post-escape responses really dulled it for me.
-I can’t believe they were all just annoyed and not one of them noticed how terrified Tallpaw was. Tallpaw might’ve called his father’s lack of fear courage, but I just call it recklessness.
-I can’t believe Sandgorse didn’t notice Tallpaw’s fear at all — surely Tallpaw’s body language would’ve clearly shown how terrified he was. I can’t believe Sandgorse has to gall to not only say that Tallpaw would help them finish it (as if it were a foregone conclusion) but be so completely baffled that Tallpaw didn’t agree with him. Honestly, I was cheering Tallpaw on when he finally told Sandgorse to his face that he was a moor runner — finally!
Chapter 11:
-I really wish we got to see Sandgorse’s reaction to Tallpaw’s proclamation. And I wish it would’ve been one filled with apologies and regret and support for poor Tallpaw.
-Ugh Reedfeather and the hinting at the forbidden romance — I really wish the Hunters would cool it with these forbidden romances.
-“Sandgorse makes me feel like a traitor.” Why won’t someone step in and get Sandgorse in line? At this point I’d even be pushing for exile if I were Dawnstripe, Sandgorse is doing way way too much harm to Tallpaw. This should not be allowed to continue.
-And Shrewpaw is still as much of a jerk as ever. Why won’t he get clamped down on, too? It’s just so annoying. I don’t like seeing him. He’s just annoying. And supposedly Shrewpaw was practising battle moves with Harespring right before he broke in to be a jerk, so why didn’t Hareflight tell him off? Why’s Shrewpaw even getting to go to the Gathering? If I were his mentor he’d be banned from any and all privileges until he shaped up and started maturing!
-If I were Heatherstar I would be very worried about the tunnellers not wanting to go to the Gathering. It’s supposed to be a privilege, but it’s also important for inter-Clan relations — the fact that not one is interested could be a bad sign of them caring more about their personal tunneller tasks than the needs of the Clan as a whole, and/or a sign of them just not wanting to be anywhere with the rest of the Clan. Both would be major red flags to me.
-Shrewpaw is such a jerk. Why isn’t anyone clamping down on him? And again, why does he deserve to go?
-Yes Doespring! Give Shrewpaw a taste of his own medicine for once — now if only he’d get a bit more actual discipline and reprimand...
-Yes Dawnstripe! Notice Tallpaw’s down and actually try to support and encourage him! Praise his running skills and help him — I am so happy to see Tallpaw finally getting some sort of actual praise and support!
-The Gathering mostly seemed boring to me. There were efforts made to point out differences between the Clans, but it never really felt like I had a reason to care. I do wonder why there were nervous glances when Cedarstar announced Silverflame’s three kits (one presumably the future Brightflower, Yellowfang’s mum) — is there a secret there? Maybe it’s best it was never revealed...
-I do wonder why at a Gathering, new Apprentices’ names are called but new Warriors’ names aren’t.
-Oh look, Reedfeather’s secret mate... Ugh.
-I actually liked Dawnstripe pointing out that knowing other Clans’ cats was important for potential future battles. Traditionalist naming would make them easier to recognize, of course, but the principle is still good!
-Oh look, the visitors have arrived!
Chapter 12:
-Okay, meeting visitors.
-Barkpaw getting grumbly about them is kinda funny, almost. I empathize with him upset about not having been warned and about his worry for the Clan — maybe that grumbliness is Hawkheart rubbing off on him!
-The greeting scene with Reena, Larksplash, and Ryestalk was actually really sweet.
-I liked seeing Palebird get sympathy/empathy from Bess when she mentioned having lost a kit.
-Okay, I actually like Reena. She seems to have a bit of personality to her. I like how chill she is. Haha, her telling Shrewpaw to just pretend she’s an egg was honestly funny.
Chapter 13:
-I like Reena slightly less now. While I understand casual nicknames and all, it bugs me that she continues calling Tallpaw ‘Tall’ even after he’s insisted on Tallpaw a few times. Sure, it’s better than Wormpaw, but it’s still not the nicest. Names are important.
-Oh wait, she uses Tallpaw — guess it’s just a force of habit? Not so bothered anymore. And I like seeing Reena have some skill — all rogues/loners aren’t evil nincompoops! A shame the rabbit got away at first, but even Dawnstripe said they couldn’t have seen that hole from where they were.
-Yay, Tallpaw got the kill! Excellent reaction time — with all Dawnstripe said about him being such a good runner, I’d even say he might be shaping up to be a -foot or a -whisker!
-Woollytail. While he was a rude numpty at Tallpaw’s Apprentice Ceremony, it seems he’s not taking out any anger on Tallpaw, which I do appreciate.
-Oh my gosh Dawnstripe actually being worried about Tallpaw when she found out about the flooding, I love it!
-Oh gosh the tunnellers didn’t tell Heatherstar about the flooding? What else aren’t they telling Heatherstar? That’s a major red flag — is the Clan fractioned so bad there are secrets of that size being kept? How terrible! Good on Dawnstripe for wanting to tell Heatherstar.
-Oh look, Shrewpaw. Ugh. Not a fan.
-Oohh, I liked seeing Tallpaw make the guess about the buzzard! Very good logic for sure. I appreciate seeing Shrewpaw has some physical skill, but that doesn’t excuse his bullying. I wish Harespring had explained to Shrewpaw the benefits of that kind of logical guesswork — observing is one thing, but being able to logically connect dots is also super important. Both are vital skills to hone.
-Oh my gosh I absolutely hate Sandgorse even more which I didn’t think was possible. I can’t believe him! Him getting so so angry at Tallpaw even after Tallpaw said it was Woollytail who had spilled and not Tallpaw. Calling his son a coward, getting so angry with him — and it wouldn’t have even been okay if Tallpaw had been the one to spill because the flood was dangerous and not telling Heatherstar was a huge mistake on behalf of the tunnelers. I’m surprised none of the other Warriors came over at the sight and sound of Sandgorse getting so angry — Tallpaw was backing away! Someone should have barged in — how dare Sandgorse lose his temper like that! Sandgorse should be exiled.
Chapter 14:
-Aw Tallpaw needs counselling and — did he just sneak out of camp? I thought Apprentices couldn’t leave camp on their own? What are the sentries doing?
-At least Sparrow goes after him.
-Yes, Sparrow! Yes, Tallpaw! Encourage Tallpaw and help him get conviction in doing what he wants! I love it! Screw Sandgorse, he shouldn’t matter anymore!
-Yeah, why can’t you have normal kin who are proud of you? At least Dawnstripe is doing her best to shield and encourage him.
-Oh great, Tallpaw thinks it’s an invasion. I appreciate his enthusiasm but I do think he should’ve listened to what he was being told — I figure there’s a reason.
Chapter 15:
-Haha, okay this was actually funny. I liked seeing Tallpaw so enthusiastic but also see him apologize quickly when he realized he’d mucked up. Hah, and it was funny when Dawnstripe said she’d only just stopped the war. Oh and praising Tallpaw’s speed — yes, keep it up, praise him for what he does well! He could use it.
-Oh no and the ShadowClan scent. I understand why Tallpaw doesn’t immediately bring it up, because of what literally just happened. I do think he should’ve mentioned it — not gone charging off, but just mentioned ‘hey is ShadowClan visiting the Moonstone too?’
-Oof and I know how Tallpaw feels, wanting to fight to make up for his mistake. I’m glad Aspenfall went quickly — I do think Tallpaw should’ve obeyed, though. Gah this whole situation is unfortunate.
-And ShadowClan attacking to try to claim the moors... Why? This makes no sense to me. It’s greenleaf. Presumably their prey stores are all right, they have absolutely no reason to believe WindClan is weak judging by the last Gathering. Few Apprentices and kits/pregnant Queens just means lots of fully trained Warriors. This attack seems beyond stupid to me, like it’s just a plot device to kill off Brackenwing.
-What even was the point in killing off Brackenwing? This just seems like a pointless fridging to cause extra drama.
-Oh man. I get why Tallpaw is blaming himself. I still think this is a battle that never should’ve happened.
Chapter 16:
-Honestly, this wasn’t Tallpaw’s fault. The timing of the whole thing was really bad — he’d been too eager, and then he doubted himself, and it was just really bad timing.
-Shrewpaw however — Shrewpaw. I understand grieving for his mother, but there is absolutely no excuse for outright attacking a Clanmates like that. Tallpaw didn’t kill Brackenwing. He never meant for it to happen. Heatherstar speaks sense. Shrewpaw needs some serious aggression counselling, though honestly by this point it might be too far gone and the Clan might be better off without him; he’s got a pattern of reckless aggression and unneeded violence. First training with claws unsheathed plus the bullying, and then viciously attacking a Clanmate (which was in his grief, but it doesn’t help his case that his first reaction to a strong negative emotion is violence and aggression).
-Hawkheart talks sense too. I’m glad to see him heal Tallpaw. The safety of the Clan doesn’t rest on one apprentice. Besides, I’d be more concerned about the fact that Tallpaw — an apprentice — was the only one to notice the scent so soon. Sure, not everyone can be a -nose, but surely border patrols would generally have at least one strong tracker on them for cases just like this? Honestly this just makes it harder to take the drama seriously — how was Tallpaw the only one to notice the ShadowClan scent so quickly? Why didn’t anyone give it a bit of extra attention, Tallpaw was practically begging for someone else to notice with his whole ‘hey do you guys smell something here?’ thing. And no one noticed? That’s on them.
-Tallpaw needs counselling.
-Oh gosh of course Sandgorse immediately believes the worst in Tallpaw.
-Reedfeather is clamping down on Shrewpaw — good. The clamping down should have started a lot sooner, but at least it’s something. He’s right — Shrewpaw needs to be loyal to all his Clanmates.
-Okay, this is a kind of interesting argument. On one paw, I see why Hickorynose is angry — the tunnellers were totally missing when the Clan needed them, and they had to use a Warrior who otherwise could’ve helped fight in order to track them down. And they didn’t get back until after the battle was over. Conversely, how is this the first time this argument is happening? As well, I’m surprised the tunnelers are so quick to defend themselves — are they really suggesting the Clan hide away instead of defend their territory? That sounds preposterous! Yet again, all tunnelling does is cause discord and anger.
Chapter 17:
-Honestly, Heatherstar is right about wanting smaller tunnelling patrols — half their Warriors being away tunnelling is a huge problem. If the visitors hadn’t been there, ShadowClan easily could’ve taken over their territory and then what use would their precious tunnels have been?
-Sandgorse is terrible. ‘One of the apprentices’ — that’s awful. That’s got to hurt. The more I see him, the more I absolutely hate him. Larksplash shutting him up because of the vigil is a relief.
-I’m not a fan of Sparrow here. He’s so invested in the tunnels, it’s like he’s trying to goad Sandgorse into heading down there.
-Tunneling is the only thing Sandgorse cares for. Can’t even be bothered to comfort his mate who just lost her best friend!
-Aw, hoping they won’t need those battle skills... Poor Tallpaw and poor Dawnstripe, honestly. It’s hard to recover after an attack that killed a clanmate. But at least they’re trying. And I liked Dawnstripe telling him to take it easy because he’d be stiff after the battle.
-Tallpaw’s almost aggressive streak is kind of concerning. And I’m worried about Dawnstripe letting her apprentice go off on his own — that’s irresponsible, she should be going with him. She and Algernon could’ve talked as they walked with Tallpaw.
-I don’t understand why Tallpaw is so worried about his father. Protecting Clanmates is important, yes, but Tallpaw knows how dangerous those tunnels could be — especially seeing Sparrow soaked... I guess he wanted to get his father’s approval, but I don’t get why. I don’t feel worry for Sandgorse at all. I literally don’t care what happens to him and honestly I’m glad he’s gone. Tallpaw though, he needs counselling.
Chapter 18:
-Honestly, Woollytail is right. Sandgorse answered for his recklessness. I don’t know what he was thinking, going down in the tunnels and having his only companion be someone who didn’t know the first thing about tunnelling. Though I do lay some blame on Sparrow for being so dang pushy about the tunnels sooner, Sandgorse shouldn’t have risen to the bait. He was too reckless, too angry, too stubborn, too set in his ways.
-Tallpaw needs counselling. Honestly I feel relief that he won’t have to deal with Sandgorse’s abuse anymore. I am genuinely glad that Sandgorse is dead. I understand Tallpaw still having some sort of urge to please Sandgorse — I think a lot of counselling from way before would’ve helped there.
-Tallpaw needs counselling. I don’t even know what else to say. The mental health of almost everyone in this Clan seems so bad. Palebird doesn’t get counselling for losing a kit and post-natal depression, Tallpaw doesn’t get counselling for relentless bullying and abuse... Just. Counselling.
3) What chapter/scene most effective? Why?
Honestly, the only parts I really liked involved the visitors and then that brief bit of Tallpaw making the guess about the buzzard. So I guess chapter 12 wins it because that was the only enjoyable part of this entire section. The visitors had characters I actually cared for and liked — which is more than I can say for most of the other characters. Reena in particular caught my attention and I do like her.
4) What chapter/scene least effective? Why?
It feels like we’re supposed to care that Sandgorse is dead. I honestly am glad he’s gone and think the whole Clan is better off without such a reckless, abusive, self-centred jerk. Sparrow had some culpability in his pressing the issue of the tunnels, but Sandgorse should have known that it wasn’t safe and been able to resist the temptation. All he’s ever done is care for himself and his desires — he got what he had coming to him.
And Tallpaw needs serious counseling. The whole Clan is dysfunctional.
5) Any passage stuck to mind? Why?
The bit with Tallpaw guessing about the buzzard because it was nice to see him actually do well and have another Warrior praise him for his guess, because it was a very good guess and that kind of logical thinking is important.
6) Any character feelings changed? How/why?
Not particularly, no. I empathize with Barkpaw closing off a bit after his mother died. I still hate Shrewpaw and Sandgorse. I’m relieved Sandgorse is dead.
7) How about the visitors?
Some of the only cats in this entire book that I like from the start and don’t start to hate. Other than Sparrow, but even then it’s not hatred and just ‘he was really pushy but Sandgorse should still have known better’. Reena in particular is pretty great overall.
8) What would you change if you could? Ramifications?
I can’t pick just one thin! I’d get rid of the abuse and the bullying (or have them there but have them quickly clamped down on/stopped or eventual cause for exile). I’d have tunneling either be meaningful and respectfully handled or I’d nix it all together. There’d be traditionalist naming and proper genetics, Brackenwing wouldn’t die senselessly — honestly, it would be a very different book if I had written it.

What if Princess joined Thunderclan instead of Rusty? (And what do you think Princesses Warrior name would be.)
That’s a really good question
I think she would probably connect to Ravenpaw the most tbh out of the apprentices rather than Graypaw. And I honestly think she might choose the path of a medicine cat rather than a warrior, training under Spottedleaf and then Yellowfang. If she did become a medicine cat then her “saving the clan” would come from her connection to StarClan. I think she would do all the investigative stuff into Redtail’s death and it would probably be fairly easy for her given her medicine cat status as she can cross borders with less question. And I think she would probably find Yellowfang like Firepaw did while our getting some herbs. I don’t think she would go to help WindClan or find out about Silverstream until her death. I think she would attack Tigerclaw to protect Bluestar during his assassination attempt and probably get a lot more injured than Fireheart did but with Bluestar’s (eventual) help succeed in overpowering him, before calling for reinforcements. Once Tigerclaw gets banished I think Whitestorm would be made deputy in the absence of Fireheart. Swiftpaw and Brightpaw might not get attacked by dogs in the absence of Cloudtail’s warrior ceremony driving them to do so, but maybe Brightpaw’s littermates (Cinder and Bracken) being warriors for ages while she’s told she’s got to wait would motivate the two of them to go after the dogs anyway. If Cinder does still get hit by a car in this I think Princess would put her foot down and insist Cinder still be at least given the chance to try and resume warrior duties. If Whitestorm becomes Whitestar I think he might choose Brackenfur as his deputy. Princess would receive the LionClan symbol and despite being a medicine cat would be the uniting force between ThunderClan and WindClan, and I think the way she would eventually “save the clan” would be by confronting Scourge herself, knowing that if he goes everything will end, talking to him would fail but in her self defence after he attacks her I think her defending herself would result in Scourge’s collar being his downfall somehow in some poetic callback to Longtail fighting Princess and pulling her collar off when she initially joins the clan (and trains as a warrior for a short while before becoming a medicine cat)
I think if the fire prophecy still applies her name would probably be related to it? Since her eyes are amber maybe her name could be Firegaze, Firewish or something like that.
And even though the Erins would never do this it wouldn’t surprise me if she and Sandstorm had a secret thing going on
After first arc territory I’m not sure how things might play out since Squirrel and Leaf wouldn’t exist, and presumably Princess wouldn’t have children unless she has them illegally

probably a wild theory but hear me out: what if /Cloudstar/ is possessing Fakestar? He'd have motive - he asked the other Clans for help and they turned his Clan away after Skyclan was destroyed by twolegs, and Starclan did nothing to intervene. The voice never called out a Skyclan cat for breaking the code, and we all know reboot Skyclan was flexible with it (re: daylight warriors), and Fakestar only seems to have an issue with Tree and Rootpaw, both who can see spirits (1/?)
Fakestar clearly hates Tree and is starting to get annoyed by Rootpaw, but doesn't care about Violetshine or Needlepaw. He pushes Leafstar, but doesn't seem to bother himself with Skyclan overall. Cloudstar is also related to Tigerheartstar (and also Bramblestar) via his kits who were raised in Thunderclan when Skyclan was forced to leave back in the old territories, since they were too young to make such an unknown journey (2/?)
And the other four Clans NEVER were punished for willingly ignoring Skyclan and not doing a thing to help them. Yellowfang's Secret suggested that Brokenstar was the punishment for what happened, but... it's not really touched upon in the book, and seems to have been forgotten by Working Partners (or ignored to be retconned). Cloudstar was/is in Starclan - he could've found a way to uproot the others while he began his work punishing the Clans (3/?)
Either that or Starclan IS involved and allowing it to happen, which I wouldn't have even considered before but that... trial, in Squirrelflight's Hope has made me consider otherwise. Plus, it can be said Cloudstar doesn't feel like the other four Clans have suffered like his Clan has, and has lost whatever morals he had when alive. Likewise, I'm still hoping for Fakestar to be Skystar since everything I said about Cloudstar can count for him, but who knows! (4/5)
I could very well be making mountains out of mole hills right now lol - I'm definitely convinced a Skyclan cat is behind all this tho
Also I meant to end that last ask with (5/5) rip
———————————————————————
That is such a good theory! I somehow overlooked Cloudstar while I was thinking about the possibility if is Skystar causing this and it actually makes quite a lot of sense! It would make total sense for him to want revenge on the clans like this.
Also it would make sense for Cloudstar to act this way seeing as he seems to blame current cats for their ancestors wrong doings or at least think they share the same mindset ( he literally asked Firestar for help because he wasn’t related to other Clan cats). That might also explain his fondness for Bristlefrost because she is descended from Cloudtail and Firestar after all.
Maybe also Bramblestar’s new code about the clans protecting each other could have made him (or Skystar) angry because of how SkyClan was not protected? (Idk I literally just thought of this)
Also Squirrelflight is the daughter of the two cats that restored his clan, so maybe that could explain the imposter’s affection for her?
I do think SkyClan ancestors are involved to some degree and I think Cloudstar and Skystar are really likely suspects.
