#is like... the anti-skeleton in the closet

Note
Loke had a hard on for hating anyone with stronger muses than hers in public rp groups. She practically chased or tried to restrict people over power levels all because she never wanted to lose.
She's the worst person in group rps. Always trying to control everything. I avoided any event or group rp she was in after how antisemitic I heard she acted over a dumb Pokemon event. Just because she didn't like the idea of possibly losing!

tuesday again 10/10/2023
by dry volume, this post is 80% talking about gallery walls. tl;dr : do not buy or hang up things you do not like in a vague attempt to make your house look more grownup ONLY put up things you love, mat your art to give it visual room to breathe.
listening
had a playlist of the james bond theme songs on while i was deep cleaning my kitchen and the line "YOU GOT TO GIVE THE OTHER FELLA HELL!!! " from SPECIFICALLY the guns 'n roses cover of live and let die (even though the playlist had the correct mccartney version) has been THOROUGHLY stuck in my brain for forty eight hours.

reading
academic transphobia to follow:
an anti-reading section, for once. Retraction Watch (site that tracks academic paper retractions and major academic beef like when someone is stripped of tenure for fraud, formerly my beloved) published an op-ed by an anthropologist TERF who is Big Mad she got called out by her professional association for trying to submit a conference talk that amounted to hate speech against her trans colleagues in the name of the stupid fucking largely disproven sexing skeletons thing. the comments have devolved into the professor sock puppeting anyone who goes "hey RW why did you platform this?"
would be very interested to hear from RW about how a retracted conference talk has the same impact on the scientific community as a retracted paper, but we'll fucking see. i think RW provides an important service to the scientific community (they are the most indepth and thorough tracker of retractions, more so than the actual publishers) but this is a fucking weird move

watching
rewatched Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988, dir. Zemeckis) for fic research. GOD this movie is fucking good. it performs a minor animation miracle every thirty seconds.

making
by popular demand (four people), some thoughts about gallery walls. some discourse on the method, if you will. i went with a gallery wall bc i like the look and i had an extremely large blank wall to fill bc this apartment is slightly too big for me. the string lights remind me very much of my dorm rooms but cool lamps have been few and far between down here.
Tumblr media
how to get art (and why/caveats)
i honestly don't have a ton of direct collecting advice here other than "have you tried going to a lot of thrift stores". i cheat bc both my parents were architects who collected art, everyone in my family dabbles in fine art, and my sister has her bachelors in art history. so i am awash in paper, constantly. i grew up with a set of flatfiles and a closet full of spare frames. i recognize most people do not grow up like this.
with that caveat out of the way, how do i actually get my art? usually one piece at a time over a very long period of time. there's a postcard on my gallery wall i got in 2009. this is a game you will be playing for the rest of your life as you discover things you like and your tastes evolve.
it is VITAL that you love every piece on your walls. no filler ikea canvases unless you actually like them. the instant you start thinking "oh i need a landscape to look Grownup" you have to strangle that thought in the cradle. there are no rules, especially in art. put whatever the fuck you want up on your walls with no regard for the public's taste.
i feel like "i should buy and put up more art" is something that often falls into a vague Grownup Improvement Goal (like budgeting) bc it is an Grownup Improvement Goal and not bc they actually want to buy and put up more art. fortunately for everyone, you do not have to buy or put up Morally or Socially Improving art that will impress some vague category of grownups, bc we don't fucking live in victorian times.
most importantly you do not need to spend much (or in some cases any) money to put things on your walls. getting the effect you want (fancy washi tape, matching frames) may take some money, but using the printer at work and stealing some scotch tape is free.
how to get art (actual advice this time)
i feel a little silly typing this all out but i really like reading other chewsdayposters' processes, and it is really helpful for me a lot of the time to have someone say: actually there is this complete other way of doing something you have never considered bc u did not grow up with it
i ask you: do you have a stack of sentimental papers somewhere in your home? congrats you have some frameable items. a thing does not need to be Fine Art to be in a frame to go on the wall and make you happy. tape up a birthday card. put a quilt up on your wall. pushpin a label from a jar of pickled herring bc it reminds you of your grandma. frame a beloved tshirt. this is a martha stewart ass statement but things that are not traditional paper art on your walls will add variety and whimsy to your home.
other places for art that are not thrift/estate/yard sales:
i do believe that making your own art, including a $3 paint-by-numbers kit, will fix something in your brain. it's very similar to how i personally have to go stand with my feet in a body of water twice a year or THE SLUDGE smothers my brain
your favorite weird indie bands are almost certainly selling posters on bandcamp even if they're not currently on tour
i like the artists' co-op justseeds for art that deals with "social, environmental, and political engagement" like my beloved "fuck space tourism" poster
start a "good lines" or equivalent "art i like" tag on here and buy prints when u have the money. even if artists here don't have a shop open or don't have the specific piece u want as a print, ask if u can throw them an appropriate amount of money on venmo or something and get it printed locally or online. ive had good luck with vistaprint and they have rolling sales
do you like a piece of art in the public domain, like something from a museum? print it out. put it in a frame. no it's not as nice as a professional print but it's free if you do it at work and now it's on your wall
fuck around on wikimedia commons and the internet archive. i particularly love pulp magazine covers and little illustrative insets for out of date astronomy books
non- and semi-consumable supplies
if u put $25 into supplies u can use for many many other projects (i assume you probably have some of the following list), you can make any frame nice and save approximately a gajillion dollars.
good utility knife and extra blades
hammer
tape measure
level (comes with most command hook packs, you can also use your phone)
stepstool, sturdy chair, or patient tall person
assorted nails (you can buy a little tackle box with assorted nails from most big box stores)
little squeezy tube of DryDex spackle ($5) and putty knife or honestly old credit card to fill in nail holes when you move out
OR command strips and hooks
matboard that is white on one side and black on the other (~$8 at big box craft stores). you can use this to cut your own mats and/or replace a kind of weird back on an otherwise good frame
most printer paper these days is acid free. steal some from your workplace.
assorted small brushes
little thing of acrylic paint in whatever color you want your frames to be (~$1.50 ea). you can also spray paint your frames for a different finish but i don't have the space or patience in this apartment
sandpaper or sacrificial emery board
i would further recommend a little set of letter size desktop drawers/mini flatfiles like this to keep all the small stuff you want to frame in one place. i have sentimental art i don't want to frame in one drawer and things i do want to frame in the other. this has been very good for my brain bc it's all safely and flatly contained out of sight, and it's easy to flick through a stack of things i already love when i need one more small thing or one warmer thing to fill a gap
Tumblr media
frames
the good news for us is that frames and art are a fucking bitch to move and people frequently give them away. your local discount and thrift stores are going to be fucking awash in small frames 8.5"x11" and under for under $3 each. when you are thrifting or estate saling or yard saling or generally gallivanting about on a weekend, pay little attention to any art actually in a frame. is the frame in okay shape? can you repaint it without too much trouble? will it clean up all right? does it have the glass? can you insert the glass from a different frame into the one you actually want without any thrift store employees noticing?
for weird sizes above 8.5x11 and outside poster size that cannot be easily found at thrift stores, the big box craft stores here in america have roughly quarterly frame sales and frequent coupons. do NOT get your shit professionally framed at michaels bc they upcharge by about 3x compared to other local framers (both on the east coast and here in tx).
i went through two periods of seriously buying frames (last year of high school and the year i moved into the original lair, when/where i thought i was going to stay for a few years) and ive swapped in out and between those dozen or so total. once you have built up a little stock of frames that fit the general sizes of art you tend to collect, ur pretty good for a while. the only new "frame" i bought for my gallery wall was a little floating shelf.
mats
the absolute biggest fucking thing u can do to make your art look nicer is mat that bitch, which gives it room to breathe. if your art does not have a built in border or a lot of white space (see 9, 12, and 13 in the gallery wall below, as well as 8 which has a ton of negative space with the car door), you need a frame bigger than your art. you can google the suggested proportions yourself or decide with your heart.
i am a big fan of a very slapdash floating mat, which means cutting a piece of printer paper to size or flipping around the paper that tells you what size the frame is and slapping your art right on top of that, sometimes with a lick of gluestick to keep it in place. generally a floating mat means a sort of 3D matting technique but we don't have time for that. do not do this printer paper technique long-term with a particularly beloved or expensive piece of art.
u can also buy pre-cut mats at Michaels or Joann’s for not too too many dollars, or cut your own with the acid-free matboard ($10 for a poster board sized piece) and a new utility knife blade and a steady hand. or, if you're lucky, it comes with the frame.
gallery wall specific advice
there aren't any rules. actual galleries and museums tend to put the center of a piece or group of pieces at 57" from the floor. you may want to fuck around with that depending on your own height, the space you have, and the pieces you own.
a gallery wall does not need to be 24 pieces like this one. it can be any number.
this is the first one i have done mostly by myself and it is the most color-restricted one i have ever put up. it is also the one with the most successful repeating motif (circles). usually i grab the art i want most to go together and send pics to my art historian sister who will then arrange it for me and say shit like “do you have another small blue thing for the top left” or “do you have two pieces that are warmer and larger” or "different frame for the middle left"
look at a lot of other gallery walls. personally i like the ones that have non-framed and non-square things in them. ideally mine would have photographs and taxidermy in it for maximum weirdness. but u cannot go wrong with a grid, or all horizontal pieces, or all vertical pieces. for a full wall puzzle piece like this, u do not generally want an american southwest four corners meeting situation. stagger it. lay everything out on the floor and move it around eighteen times (this is the worst part). the gallery wall as a whole does not have to be perfectly aligned to the ceiling or the back of your couch or what have you. it can be sort of an organic blob shape along the top and bottom edges.
my wall
this soothing blue and green wall with wood tone pops has pieces from almost half my life. it skews later in college/recent acquisitions, as i sharpened my taste for limited-number prints and had a car to go to thrift stores with, but that’s just how this specific wall came together
Tumblr media
the list below should tell you what each piece is, how much i paid for it (and the cost of the frame if applicable), and when i got it. this wall has most of the Nice Art in my collection that is signed/numbered/in some way slightly fancier bc it is the wall i stare at when on my couch.
embroidered Scorpio constellation hoop, birthday gift from my sister (free, came with hoop, i used some makerspace felt and batting to properly back and finish it much later so free with my tuition), nov 2016
numbered and signed print of an italianate cityscape, $5 and came with the frame and mat from an estate sale, i put a new back on it with scrap matboard so the back of the print wasn't just naked, fall 2021
signed print of a new england landscape, came with the frame and the mat but is stained right over the signature :( $2.50 from salvation army, one of the last things i bought in spring 2023 before i moved
signed original multimedia on board collage by my sister from her like second ever gallery show, $69 in winter 2022 for the art, the frame was from a free pile i gave a new acid free back with scrap matboard. that was such a good free pile i got a huge pile of frames from that
magazine page (idk which one either) i saved in high school (i graduated in 2013) or very early college, frame was from a free pile by the side of the road in summer 2021 and repainted with some white acrylic paint. it is float matted with printer paper. maybe a dollar for the paint? i definitely did not buy the magazine
this is an out of print poster by one of my favorite living artists (Josh McPhee) so i emailed him and asked if i could get it printed myself if i threw him $25 and he said yes. i think it cost $22 to get it printed professionally, the frame is basics by studio decor ($20 for a 2-pack) (i spent so much money and time on this one bc i wanted a very specific look for a very specific space in my kitchen in the old apartment), feb 22
signed numbered woodcut by Roger Peet ($20 in august 2020), another studiobasics frame that was i think $8 in summer 2022. float matted with acid free matboard and not printer paper.
gigantic fuckoff unsigned unlabeled poster i bought bc she reminds me of the Barnes & Noble murals, $10 at goodwill (came with the frame, half off) sep 2023
star chart from the US Naval Observatory that was on a free shelf at Amherst College when i was taking a class there in fall 2018, another studiobasics frame (idk when i bought this one) so under $10. float mount on acid free printer paper.
plaster frog mirror from an estate sale in spring 2021, i do not remember how much i paid for it but it was not more than $5
Tumblr media
oh goddamnit this is a new block so of course it restarted the numbering. fatal off by a power of ten error, very typical for astronomy. poster from a show i went to in college spring 2015, do not remember when i bought this sub-$10 studiobasics frame either, float mount on acid free printer paper.
signed poster from my roommate-at-the-time’s cousin’s band in fall 2014 (i can’t actually find the receipt but i did find an email from her cousin letting me know he shipped me and my roommate’s orders together lol) let’s say $20, another sub-$10 studiobasics frame of mysterious provenance.
moon map out of an old science book in high school, let’s be generous and say $10 for both the book and the frame (another studiobasics)
numbered but unsigned new year’s print from a local-ish print shop in massachusetts, $12 at savers with the frame, fall 2022
cover of a very fragile vintage paperback copy of raymond c/handler’s The Long G/oodbye i acquired in high school (could not have been more than a dollar or two), with a frame and mat that came in an ikea multipack my dad bought me in high school bc i had a set of l/ackadaisy miniposters i wanted to hang, looks like the closest modern equivalent is the EDSBRUCK, a single will run you about $12 today
postcard inherited from my grandpa’s collection of loose paraphernalia in 2010 (free but at what cost etc), frame is a studiobasics that come in a pack of 6 for $20 (less if you have a coupon) so let’s round down a smidge and say $3. don’t remember when i bought this frame either, it is matted with real matboard bc the postcard and the back of the frame are so thin
“my heart is a fish” cross stitch (a reference to the imperial radch trilogy of books) i made this and did not date it but i know i blogged about it on here at some point between 2014-2018, i remember having to buy five colors of thread but owned the hoop already, again back and finished it properly much later with maskerspace batting and felt, let’s say $5 not counting my time
postcard from @believerindaydreams last winter in another studiobasics frame and float mounted with acid free matboard.
tiny moon mirror from salvation army in early spring 2015, under $5
CD mirror from Vapor95 ($125? preorder in fall 2021), came with velcro command strips which was very nice of them
a $300 original multimedia collage (the first one my sister ever made, when she was in middle school) i bought in spring 2021 from her first show, sitting on a $5 acrylic shelf from five below i bought last month
22-24 are national geographic maps, 50c each at an estate sale last month, had to buy $7 worth of binder clips and pushpins to put them up bc i don’t fucking know what box they’re in and didn’t have time to rip the whole closet of boxes im ignoring apart
a slightly longer tl;dr: do not buy or hang up things you do not like in a vague attempt to make your house look more grownup ONLY put up things you love, thrift and repaint your frames if possible but you can get very cheap studiobasics ones if you want them all to match, acid-free mat your art for preservation and to give it room to breathe, keep a little drawer or box of stuff you love and might want to frame

I can't believe I have to fucking say this, but here we go, since I'd rather deal with this now than when someone messages me some random bs about the current situation (thank fuck I'm not Jewish nor have family or friends in Israel, or this would be much more angry than I'd like, but here we are).
The killing of civilians is not OK. Celebrating it either is not OK. BEING HAPPY THAT PEOPLE ARE BEING RAPED AND KILLED IS NOT FUCKING OK YOU ASSHOLES.
Do none of you who are doing this over the Internet HAVE ANY FUCKING EMPATHY FOR ANYONE IN THIS CONFLICT.
Look, I'm South African. I'm black. We can argue AS MUCH as you fuckin want about the ethics of using violence and that jazz to 'achieve means' or whatever fucking buzzword you guys want to use to 'end the apartheid in the Middle East'. I won't respond to you, but whatever.
You can talk AS MUCH as you want about how 'Israel deserved this', I'm not gonna argue with a random twat. Send me anonhate for all I care, call me 'anti-Palestinian' or something for all I fucking care.
You can talk about settlers, me being 'right wing' (I'm actually, left, but fuck me, am I right) or whatever hot takes you want to jab to me about how 'this was inevitable' (and the thing is, if the crazies on both sides were non-existent or not in power (because I 100% know Israel has it's crazies, and that Palestine has theirs too) IT WOULD Have, but I'm not discussing fucking politics today. I have school and assignments and a fanfic chapter to write))
You can do whatever you want with me, BUT THE FUCKING MOMENT YOU DECIDE THAT IT IS RIGHT TO KIDNAP, MURDER AND DO WHATEVER TO PEOPLE JUST LIVING THEIR LIVES, TO SEND DEATH THREATS TO RANDOM PEOPLE FOR JUST BEING JEWS, THAT IS WERE ANY SEMBELANCE OF A DISCUSSION FALLS AWAY, YOU ANTISEMITIC WEIRDO.
If you needed this message, I beg of you, grow a spine, a skull and get a brain to replace the one that melted out of your ears.
If you think that what Hamas is doing is morally right in anyway, shape or form, please block me and never speak to me again.
Do I know of skeletons in the closet? Yes, I do. But, here's the thing: If you decide that's entirely justifiable to commit acts of terrorism, just...leave my account. Now.. You are not welcome here, nor do I wish for you to feel welcomed by me. Leave.
Let all those who are suffering find relief and rescue, and those who died be in peace, and their memories be remembered forevermore. Amen.

I keep thinking about the anti D.D.D easter egg for the next update.
If you don't know the dev posted two stories about the D.D.D asking the fandom if they trust them or not and an Anti D.D.D easter egg note
So I'm going to explain some of my theories on who might give us this easter egg note.
Here are the possible options for who gives us the note
A Doppelganger gives the player the note.
A worshipper of doppelgangers (kinda like Clown who gives the player the Unlikely note)
Someone who used to work for D.D.D
Someone who thinks the doppelgangers are victims.
Time to explain why I think this
First with doppelganger, I think a doppelganger might took its own form (So the player doesn't get confused with doppelgangers who mimic the Neighbours, since I don't think the dev is going to reveal the doppelgangers true forms just yet.) The doppelganger comes in and gives the player the Anti D.D.D note to trick the doorman into questioning their choices with D.D.D making it easier for doppelgangers to be let in
Second the worshipper of doppelgangers, I can imagine people might be worshipping the doppelgangers in some twisted way, it's unclear why they worship them. The worshippers know about the D.D.D "cleaning up" the doppelgangers and the location of the building. A worshipper comes in and gives the doorman the anti D.D.D to help them in their cause of whatever that might be.
Third Someone who worked for the D.D.D or at least Someone who knows about the dirty secrets of D.D.D. maybe the D.D.D created the doppelgangers (Basically the shady company trope in horror media) like they lied about the dopelgängers existence and tried to clean up their mess. The person comes in and gives the Anti D.D.D note saying like they have skeletons in the closet and they can't be trusted.
Fourth is someone who is sympathetic to doppelgangers, maybe someone helped a doppelganger and the doppel lied to the person making them seem to be victims and D.D.D making out to be the bad guys. The person makes a campaign to stop the D.D.D and gives the player the anti D.D.D note to join them in their ANTI D.D.D campaign

abe's really not that bad when you dont have some rat screaming in your ear about how he did this or that
make no mistake, he's definitely the farthest thing from a saint, but half of the time he's treated like the anti-christ and just... guys. none of the characters (literally none) of them are perfect and had their skeletons in the closet and shit. abe is a bit of a pain and a dense mf yes but he's as flawed as anyone else around so what does it matter? (no shade, i do see it i just think some of the more rabid-hate is unwarranted.)

Amongst the (frankly ridiculous) scandal around the Karma "omg she's portraying herself as the devil", we, as a decoding community, have talked about a symbolism similar to the one in MONTERO. "Oh, I'm going to Hell for who I am or my beliefs? Well, I guess it'll be grand, I'll find a sense of community since all my peeps will be there." But I wonder if there isn't also a link to Lover and rep. I rep, she puts herself as 'a bad guy', part of the heist. She's even the one who double crosses other bad guys. And she's continued with that metaphor. (cowboy like me, on the face of it, comes to mind) Maybe she aims to remind us that she's not a fragile little angel we need to defend and protect. Yes, she is a good person, but she *does* roll the dice. That's all she does. Her career has always been one gamble after another. And we've been here to watch the house win. And we watch her burn the house down.
yes! precisely! if they’re a thief they can join her heist! bonnie and clyde! a cowboy like her! skeletons in both closets! vigilante! anti hero!

The leaders of No Labels, a group preparing a potential independent presidential ticket, have asked the Justice Department to investigate potential criminal charges against a range of Democratic-leaning groups and activists who have been opposing their effort.
The group, in a Jan. 11 letter signed by former senator Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), former North Carolina governor Pat McCrory (R) and others, argues that a public and private pressure campaign to discourage donations to No Labels and support for the ticket goes beyond legally protected political speech.
“It’s one thing to oppose candidates who are running; it’s another to use intimidation tactics to prevent them from even getting in front of the voters,” the letter reads in part.
The Justice Department has not responded to the letter, according to No Labels leaders. The group scheduled an event at the National Press Club on Thursday to announce the letter.
The argument that the group puts forward in the letter is untested and unusual for a political group. Efforts to pressure donors, candidates and endorsers from taking various actions are the currency of politics, and courts generally give significant leeway to campaigns to compete publicly and privately for support.
Dan Webb, a Chicago attorney and No Labels volunteer who also signed the letter, said the group hoped any federal investigation turned up more evidence of wrongdoing.
“We don’t have subpoena or grand jury powers,” Webb said in a statement, about why the group had not filed a civil lawsuit yet. “We cannot do the type of investigation that is needed like DOJ can.”
The letter details a number of incidents that the group’s leaders believe go beyond the regular rough and tumble of politics. This includes an electronic billboard featuring photographs of No Labels CEO Nancy Jacobson and her husband, former Democratic consultant Mark Penn, that was driven around Georgetown during the weekend of the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
“There is no place for MAGA hate in Georgetown,” the billboard read.
Others involved in the No Labels effort have had their reputations or future business opportunities threatened, the letter reads. One supporter of the effort, co-founder Holly Page, says another Democrat warned her during a private lunch about her involvement with the presidential effort and asked her about what one of her personal clients thought about. Weeks later, an attorney for that client called to end their business relationship, she said.
Opponents of No Labels, a category that includes a range of outside Democratic groups and operatives, have publicly declared their intent to put pressure on donors and potential candidates to steer clear of the group. They point out that third-party candidates have no modern record of success in presidential politics, and there has been no polling that shows the group, even without a named candidate, has a clear path to a victory in the electoral college.
They argue that any No Labels candidacy will probably draw more votes from Democrats than Republicans, potentially delivering a win to former president Donald Trump, who is leading the race for the Republican nomination.
“We are worried about any third party. We realize it is a free country. Anybody can run for president who wants to run for president,” former congressman Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), who is leading one effort to oppose No Labels, said in December. “But we have a right to tell citizens the danger they will face if they vote for any of these third-party candidates.”
Audio of an anti-No Labels meeting acquired by Semafor quoted one opponent of the effort as suggesting that anyone involved would have their records searched for any embarrassing details. “If you have one fingernail clipping of a skeleton in your closet, we will find it,” the person said during the call, according to Semafor. “If you think you were vetted when you ran for governor, you’re insane. That was nothing. We are going to come at you with every gun we can possibly find.”
Ballot Access News, which tracks ballot registration, reported that No Labels had gained access or finished the process for access in 16 states in December, including key battlegrounds such as Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina.
Benjamin Chavis, a national co-chair of No Labels who also signed the letter, said that efforts to stop the group’s progress were undemocratic.
“When they prevent No Labels from getting ballot access, they’re really preventing the American people from getting ballot access,” he said.
Sorry bout the format, link didn't want to attach

Random question is about style-- what is your current style and is what you wear every day in keeping with it or do you only get to walk it out on certain occasions? (Inspired by a convo with a friend where we said we grew up but never got to fill our closets with everything we thought we would)
BLUE.
Man, my askbox got neglected while I was gearing up for my week away, sorry.
I've gained a bunch of weight in the past couple of years due to some laziness and health issues and anti-depressants. I don't mind other than the fact that its wreaking havoc on my back and the older I get the harder it is to take off the weight so I really just have to focus on beefing up my core muscles to deal with the extra....
Anyway. That's all to say that the other thing that sucks is that I'm growing out a bunch of my clothes and that sucks because I like my clothes.
Mostly these days I wear a bunch of printed shirts from Redbubble--Camile Chew designs, Mando and Prospect insider symbols, witchy memes, 80's style Anubis graphics. And then I have a couple pair of these linen overalls AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Pair them with a long black cardigan covered with stars and the brightest footwear I have--80's style New Balances, burgundy suade hightop Vans, these atrocities--plus a lot of dangly acrylic earrings, witchy necklaces and rings, crystal bead bracelets... Combine it all with cat-eye glasses and a messy updo, I'm going for middle-aged hippiewitch and/or female Dieter Bravo.
It's great.
But sometimes it's just wacky and warm sweaters and skinny jeans and riding boots... whatever I effing feel like in the day. I work in the arts (and sometimes am the only one in the office) and therefore nobody looks twice when I dress like a sloppy goth or a garden witch or a Steven Universe character. I have a set of skeleton PJs that are practically my uniform in October. The day I got this job and walked out of the for-profit world I threw all my business casual clothes in a bag and took them to the Goodwill.

Rumours
Tumblr media
JunChun - modern/entertainment industry AU
Actor and performer Yu Tangchun needs money to pay for his medical bills, and thus works himself to the ground by going on small gigs to bars and parties, while at the same time taking on small acting roles in various small-scale film productions. His health deteriorates the longer he goes on without taking any breaks, but he fears that the company that he signed his contract with will let him go if they realise that he would cost them more money with his poor health. After all, the entertainment company that he works for, Pear Garden Entertainment, is a small, and fairly unknown company, so they would not keep an actor like Yu Tangchun, who is mostly known for his good looks and voice.
One morning he gets a call from his agent. The company has successfully landed him a supporting role in a high-budget production. The up-coming and highly anticipated series is starring a few very popular A-list celebrities, so this might be Yu Tangchun and Pear Garden’s breakthrough moment. Yu Tangchun accepts the job and is temporarily transferred over to East Wind Entertainment, a multimillion entertainment industry conglomerate owned by the Zhan Group.
On his first day on-set, Yu Tangchun helps Yuan Zining get to the filming location due to a mishap with the communication between the transportation team and the company staff. They meet up with the rest of the crew together, garnering a bit of publicity once a few photos are purposely leaked to the public by production. New fans quickly discover Yu Tangchun because of his striking looks and it doesn’t take long before they start shipping him with Yuan Zining. This eventually blows up and their interactions land on the top trending list. Yuan Zining, who plays the main female lead, is already shipped with her co-star by her large fanbase, so a storm is stirred up online. Fans of both the two A-list stars start trying to bring Yu Tangchun down.
It starts with accusations of Yu Tangchun clinging onto Yuan Zining for the fame. Production fan the flames by filming more behind-the-scenes of the two together, because any publicity is good publicity for the up-coming drama. It then escalates to Yu Tangchun being talentless and unworthy of his role because he only landed it due to his face and because he sought favours with the production team. Yu Tangchun continues working hard, ignoring the talk online like his agent advised him. His deteriorating health start showing on his body and antis begin circulating rumours of substance abuse. This is where production looses their control over the flow of publicity. Then finally a few months in, everything backfires; the top rumour becomes that Yu Tangchun slept with the chairman of the Zhan Group, Zhan Tianqing.
The rumour was spread by an anti who claimed to know some of the higher-ups of East Wind. Since this was a serious act of defamation against both Yu Tangchun and East Wind, the matter was not to be taken lightly.
The scandal drew the attention of the old chairman who quickly got annoyed by the commotion it was stirring up. Zhan Tianqing ordered his nephew Zhan Junbai, the current director of East Wind, to solve everything as fast as possible as he actually had a few skeletons in the closet regarding similar matters.
(I am thinking about writing a whole fic of this, but it might take quite some time.)

Currently brainrotting about a batfamily au in which the joker is found dead (like. For real) and the batfam needs to investigate it because corrupt people in the government/police force is using the argument that the bats killed him to create an anti vigilante movement.
And I mean
Gotham citizens don't really buy into the whole bats are bad became they killed the Joker. because I honestly can't think people will see it as a big loss after everything he's done. Probably some of them are like. Pft, thank God they finally did, so they're pushing against the anti vigilante movement. Theres a big party in Gotham to celebrate it even/j
Of course, the press in Gotham is somehow making it all worse by digging into old bat cases and circumstances in which they did hurt other villains.
Specially of a period in which Bruce was really really investable, angry and hurting villains that were not such a big threat at all.
Maybe in the chaos a certain video of a certain blue vigilante choking the joker starts going around... And certain brother of said guy finds out and it's there, now, confronting a reality that he never really confronted before.
Because Jason, in my oc interpretation of him (don't mind me, really), thinks he wasn't really mourned. Or at least, he wasn't mourned like he would have wanted to.
he believed that his death was a hard punch, but a punch that all of his family forgot the second a villain attacked Gotham. Because the mission was always, always first.
Jason puts it all into finding out Who did it. he digs and digs and digs and the more he does, the more some things between the family need to be discussed.
There's no leads, there's no clues, there's just a corpse, and the skeletons on the closet they now need to confront

Once again, I am utterly fucking astounded at the anti crowd. It's honestly concerning at this point how many times shit like this has happened. How much longer do you think we have until another one pops up?
At this point whenever someone says "Anime titty bad" it's basically an ADMISSION that they're either a rapist, abuser, or some form of pedophile who's virtue signaling to make idiots not look at the skeletons in their closet.
The only surprising thing is that they still haven't figured out that it's happened so frequently and so CONSISTENTLY that people immediately, IMMEDIATELY expect them to get exposed within two weeks tops. They still keep doing it! And somehow they haven't figured out we're onto them every single time!

Hi Rainbow,
I have a question about anti fans/haters spreading malicious fake rumours about celebrities in particularly gg,dd
What do they get by engaging in this type of behaviour? I understand some people do it for money.
But is it really worth all the legal trouble?
Lots of love to you 💕
Hi Anon! Thanks so much, lots of love to you as well! 🥰
Unfortunately there are a lot of different categories of haters who probably get different things out of attacking GG and DD. Money is definitely a big motivator and can't be underestimated. Even with legal trouble.
Anyone paid to attack GG and DD will likely have their legal expenses and fines covered by the 'employer', so it's not as big of a risk/hassle as it sounds. People tend to just get a slap on the wrist for these things - a modest fine, maybe having to write an apology post or letter, that kind of thing. Some antis might be very young or emotionally/mentally unstable as well, and unable to fully grasp the consequences and impact of their behavior.
The entertainment industry in China has had a lot of setbacks due to increasing government restrictions, COVID, a struggling economy, etc. and there are fewer productions being made in an already extremely competitive industry. Production companies have been shutting down, projects have been shelved, etc.
A popular young actor like DD entering into the film industry is a huge threat to competitors. He's well-liked not just by audiences, but also by people in the industry. His transition to film brings some serious competition for resources, projects and box office. It only follows that people are going to try to take him out.
And it's not just about DD, but about those backing him as well. There is a competitive situation, and anything that can be done to harm DD will harm those connected to him. He represents a major resource to those he's connected to.
The thing is, GG and DD have both been around long enough and had enough people trying to dig up dirt on them that if there were any really serious skeletons in their closets it would likely have come out already. And in the absence of that kind of dirt, all that there is left is to invent scandals and hope they stick.
That's what happened with the whole 'desperate illiterate' anti attack, and that's likely what's happening here. People are probably strategizing around DD's perceived vulnerabilities and trying to generate scandal in the areas where there's the biggest potential to harm him.
His education is an easy one because education is highly valued in China, and DD's was not as prestigious as some other actors. Much of it happened in Korea, which has tense relations with China. He's good-looking and popular and doesn't speak much, which makes it really easy to convince others that he's dumb as a post (when in fact he's quite smart).
They create a bigger narrative - "The entertainment industry is full of uneducated, corrupt, immoral pretty faces that are influencing and shaping our culture in a negative way and leading young people astray" - and then make DD the poster boy for it. By starting a bigger conversation about something the public is concerned about and then inextricably tying DD to it, they can make him seem like a threat, or like something that should be stamped out (this is very similar to what happened with 2/27, where GG was held up as an example of everything that's wrong with stardom and fan culture).
The public is already predisposed to thinking that actors are morally and intellectually lacking, and the government is constantly painting the entertainment industry as not being in line with proper morals and as corrupting the youth, so this line of attack is potentially a very effective strategy to undermine DD's popularity or at least keep him from being respected as an actor.
If people continue to see him as a mindless traffic star, that could dampen his reception by film audiences and could prevent him from being considered for serious projects. Enough public anger/disgust could also give the government more incentive (or more excuses) to limit the types of projects big fandom stars like GG and DD can participate in.
This new rumor - the idea that he would sleep with a fan, get her pregnant and cast her aside - this isn't a very original story, but it's potentially damaging and DD's team is sure to go after this with everything they have.
These types of attacks can have the effect of repeatedly undermining his credibility and reputation, so that cumulatively over time people could abandon him or turn against him. So even if the attack doesn't get him cancelled, it could still hurt him over time. A reputation, once the seeds are planted, is hard to shake.
If this is a paid anti attack, these are some of the possible objectives and motives.
The other possibility is just that she's an unhinged fan or antifan doing this for her own personal reasons. In which case it wouldn't matter what the consequences are, she'd still do it. Some people will go to great lengths to attack people they feel are the enemy of someone they love (if she's a fan of someone DD's fans are at war with, for example) or to feel connected to a star they have big fantasies in their head about.
Regardless of who these people are or why they're doing what they do, I think we as fans are best not to worry too much about it. GG and DD are surrounded by people who are looking out for their best interests, and they'll do everything they can to ensure the rumors are killed and the haters brought to justice.
I think we need to just get used to this, and prepare ourselves for it to get even worse as his other movies are released. Let's just trust GG and DD and their teams to handle things.
The rumors are false. There's only so far they're going to be able to go before they fizzle out.

And the last one for today will be the little guy I finally do a reference.
This is Radiant. Indirectly, a fusion of Ink-Error, but he was created from the magic of Frink and Mirror.
Tumblr media
Below is a post with information about this character and his story.
(IMPORTANT: This is Acute Incident Multiverse, which is based on the DS Multiverse. Just keep in mind the basic differences between DS and the original and everything (or almost everything, since Mirror and Frink are the key figures here, and they are my brainchildren) will be clear to you.
(And so I'm looking forward to any questions, always happy to answer).
Radiant. (Luminous, source of heat, light)
History:
Appeared in one of Mirror and Frink's battles in which both fought desperately for their ideals, mercilessly pummeling each other's faces and piercing attacks. As they fought they didn't notice anything but each other anymore. (Ah, romance~). And at one point, Alternate was engulfed in fire - Frink had overdone the magic. But that's not the most interesting part. In the place of the burned and already destroyed AU, the enemies, in an attempt to catch their breath, noticed a small figure that literally came out of the fire. The completely naked skeleton looked very frightened, and when he saw the fighters, he started to push his slipper, only to fall down halfway, tangled in his own feet. Mirror and Frink were even distracted from the fight - they were in gloomy bewilderment, and Mirror was on the verge of crying out in horror, "This is the most wrong thing I've ever seen." And Frink agreed, but out of sheer stubbornness he did not let them destroy the strange creature, whose bones, mostly ribs, were decorated with small scars that glowed very brightly, and when touched, even if you just put your hand, you could feel the heat. Radiant was named Radiant, and, strangely but understandably, he was first taken under his wing by Frink, out of the same stubbornness and unwillingness to lose. He tried to bring up, but immediately gave up the case, and the kid himself learned, looking at Frink and watching others. Then Frink freaked out and threw Radiant off to Mirror, who was much more concerned about the child's upbringing, and probably sometimes showed excessive strictness, but even though he tried to show him as much as possible, he did not impose his ideology, and was happy to explain the reasons and motives for his actions.
Radiant lives in the Anti-Void, but spends more time in Outertale and Oceandale. These are the two Alternatives where running into him is a very real possibility.
Appearance:
Not tall, shorter than his basics.
The skeleton is white in color, with dark bones in the pelvis and below, excluding the ankles
There is an unusual innate pattern on his skull - it got that way from Frink's burning off Mirror's threads.
There are freckles on his face, but they are very hard to see.
"An unusual soul from having unusual parents" ©.
He only has four phalanges on his hands and feet... And the phalanges on his hands are patterned, colored.
One eye socket is smaller than the other. Any explanation necessary?
Wears a long-sleeved jacket tied around his waist. It has patterns of fire on it.
T-shirt has a pattern of dripping ink.
Wears a poncho because a scarf doesn't suit him and it looks more like a plaid wrapped around his body than anything else.
Wears wide pleated pants.
Walks barefoot
Wears glasses because he can't see well.
Wears black gloves with open fingers.
He gets very hot when he feels a strong emotion.
Personality:
Slightly shy, though by the look on his face you'd think he's a very shy guy.
He loves Frink's abilities, but spends more time with Mirror, hence the stars on his clothes.
Always calls monsters and people by name, at least out loud.
He likes stars and shiny things that resemble them. Sometimes acts like a magpie.
Learned to play the flute from Frink.
Learned to sew dolls from Mirror.
Stole a t-shirt, sweater, and pants from his closet)
The character of the child is about 12 years old.
He neither "destroys" nor "creates" - he is not trivially interested in that.
He often adds stars to his clothes by himself.
His emotions represent a very meager range, coming from the basic available and their derivatives. He also hasn't been taught to distinguish between emotions, so he sometimes doesn't know what he's feeling at all.
He sleeps a lot because he stays awake a lot and doesn't understand the meaning of the time of day. What? They don't bother him in any way.
Partial memory problems are inherited from both bases.
He tries to avoid conflicts, but if it comes to them, he will try to solve everything by diplomacy or simply bind/hypnotize/paralyze his opponent and escape into the fog. If he is attacked, he will defend himself and then sullenly prove to everyone that "he started it first" even in situations where no one accuses him.
Melancholy and adolescent regression.
"I have, friends!!! For example... *demonstrates a doll he sewed himself* Her name is Rose! And she loves my music..... Hee-hee!"
"He's not lonely because loneliness is his best friend." ©, and the inquisitiveness and uncontrolled traveling through the whole Multiverse keeps things interesting. (The world through the eyes of children is a couple tones brighter, huh?)
Relationships:
Mirror.
Respects, perceived as a parental figure.
Mirror is the one who laid down the basic rules of communication to Radiant, no matter how strange it may be.
Radiant has often witnessed his madness, which makes him a strange but interesting monster.
Frink.
Respects him, but fears him because of his temper.
Does not see him as a guardian, but as an older brother.
He is not very attached to him, though he is very happy when he has time for him.
Rose.
The first doll he made, whom he considers his best friend.
Has a nice calm "personality", and a wide smile.
Looks like Frisk, dressed in a burgundy red dress, and has a sort of wreath on her head.
Fletch.
The second doll given by Mirror. Looks like a dark anthropomorphic monster with white horns and the same eyes. Has no mouth or anything other than an outline, but Radinath finds him frightening every time because of his "Grin" and will accuse him of throwing "too much wool" around again. Possesses a fickle unpredictable "temper". Constantly calls Radiant "Fir".
Dream.
Feathered knows this child exists, but refuses to accept the fact of its existence and keeps as far away from it as possible.
They've seen each other a few times, never spoken, but one day Dream caught him reading a book in his library and was amazed that he could barely feel his emotions. He hadn't even noticed at the time that some of his books had been stolen.
Radiant treats him neutrally, not seeing him as a threat, but he is indifferent to his ideology and finds it wrong and flawed, preferring balance to everything and for everything.
Nightmare.
Gave Radiant most of the books he has read.
Sometimes Radiant helps him with infiltrating JR's castle, but not often.
Radiant and Night have a mutual understanding and even friendship despite their age difference.
Radiant is very interested in Knightmere and sometimes Knight gets stressed about it.
The one case where the kid can rant relentlessly, while others know him as a "quiet, silent guy".
Cross.
Treats Cross with wariness, even though Cross doesn't mind care at Radiant or even talking to him about anything. In this case, it's mostly Cross who's talking, and Radiant is silently listening to him, occasionally inserting a comment.
To Radiant, it's Mirror and Nightmere's Familiar, but it's also Nanny.
Cross would sometimes sit with Radiant, but still had trouble figuring out how to act, and so Radiant remembered him as "Insecure Monster." (Kids. Kids like that.)
Swap
Helped the child acquire critical thinking (acquire≠develop it, please allow for age), introduced him to the "business and life of mortal beings", and otherwise tried to interfere as little as possible and only occasionally observe.
Radiant sees him as an uncle, and calls him accordingly, bringing a sad chuckle to Swap's face.
Abilities:
His strings are liquid-like.
The sounds of his flute are a weapon. "Notes" of his flute are capable of twisting an opponent with paralysis/hypnosis or inking an object that Radiant is targeting when using magic. You could say that the flute is a conduit that is mistaken for a magical artifact and the source of all his power.
Out of Frink's abilities came the incendiary ink.
He could summon blasters, but doesn't like their bright flashes and loud noises. They remind him of the ever-fighting bases.

Thoughts on the special dolls? (Lily, giant Amaya, the color dolls, etc.)
Starting with collectors! I’m gonna skip Amaya cuz it’s the same doll scaled up, I do wish more of the girlies got 24 inch dolls though.
Jett Dawson!
Love herrrr, I love the 2D drawn look to her first set, I love her lil top bun split hair, I like the hoodie under jacket thing, her eyes don’t look that weird to me, love her fingerless gloves. I…wonder what the black on her legs is tho-
Now her dress…I’ve said before I don’t usually love flounce around the hips. But surprisingly I don’t mind it here! I also don’t hate the attached mermaid skirt. Love the drawn-on silver and black stuff.
Lily Cheng!
I love her. Love her.
Her hairstyle is so good, I love the accessories, I love her makeup and brown eyes. I love her lil fan accessory.
I like every version of her outfit but my favorite is the three peice top, belt and skirt. I love the pattern, I love the entire belt, the empty space on the skirt that makes way for the bow of the belt. THESE S H O E S GIRL(gn) THESE SHOES. AND I MEAN BOTH PAIR THEY’RE BOTH CUTE-
I love all her bangles and her earrings and again HER HAIR ACCESSORIES-
Also the bangs have been banging with these two.
Maria Garcia!
Extremely Day of the dead and I love that for her. She’s doing it ALL and it’s working out so well for her. Firstly the gold accents, the roses lining the sides of the dress and the black lace layers are so tastefully done. It doesn’t overload the dress at all which could’ve been very easy here. I love the Skeleton bodysuit underneath and the gold hand things-I don’t know what they’re called I want a name for those-
I adore the headpiece and the choice to make it a crown and two rows of roses. I love her hair color and skull purse.
Then we gotta get into this makeup (and BROWN EYES AGAIN YES) the sugar skull is beautiful and they balanced the red, purple and white excellently, especially since she has baby hairs.
Her hat?? Queen. Even if I prefer the headpiece. Her shoes also slay even if you don’t really see them. Girl 👏 committed 👏 to 👏 the 👏 bit
Roxie Grand!
Beauty 👏 in 👏 simplicity! We went from a girl doing it all to a girl doing not too much and I love them both. ✨ Women ✨
Firstly, her mermaid silhouette dress is gorgeous. I love the concentration of gems at only the top and bottom, with them sparsely in the middle.
I love the string of gems that outline her wait.
I love how her necklace kinda makes the dress look like a halter top. Her bangles all are super nice, love her big ass earrings. Her makeup is baller and I love that her eyes match the makeup. H A I R ON FLEAK MISS THING Look at her baby hairs and the hair wrapped over the ponytail holder.
Paris Hilton!
Paris, an icon, a legend.
I’m so sorry Stella is right there and like 39$ cheaper. Her base outfit is just Stella’s with the sequin dress but with a bejeweled safety pin on it. Even the crown- just. Girl.
Her second outfit is just soooo cunty tho. The faux blazer bedazzled dress and knee high bedsides boots is sooo good. Especially called off with the sparky fingerless gloves. Love her earrings too.
Fashion closet Avery!
I love this gimmick and I love that she comes with a bunch of clothes and two wigs. I like to think she fried her real hair and had to chop it off, hence the molded on pixie cut when she isn’t wearing a wig.
I won’t do all the outfits she comes with but I will say that the yellow Anti-sparkle Sparkle club outfit is extremely Sunny and the red sparkle bustier outfit is extremely Ruby. Love that for Avery.
Hair Salon Amaya!
Cool gimmick! Her whole thing is the color changing rainbow hair so yeah, makes sense. I don’t love her outfit purely because it looks weird at this scale. If it were life size I’d be obsessed but RH dolls have very short torso’s, so especially her jacket looks weird.
Twin Pack Sunny and Luna Maddison!
Love, love, love these two.
Things from both- Baby hairs, nails, bags, very different kinds of chunky shoes, opposite outfit silhouettes.
Specifics for Sunny- HER HAIR ACCESSORIES. There’s 5 and they’re so random looking it’s so perfect. I love her leg warmers mimicking her normal socks, I love her shoes even if they are platform crocs. Her skirt shirt and jacket are adorable and create a very baggy, drowned look that’s very purposeful. All I want is a bandaid on her nose and face stickers.
Specifics for Luna- I love that her bag is an entire fucking chest. I love her shoes that almost look like somebody molded clips of staples to the bottom. I love that her shirt, bustier, and belt make a tighter, more “basic” silhouette for lack of a better term. In contrast to Sunny she’s only wearing earrings which I adore.
Another thing I noticed and adore is that Luna has twin buns while the top of Sunny’s hair is pinned down, opposites again!
Kia Heart!
Lip color is CRAZY. Girl you need a lipliner!
Otherwise she is gorgeous and I love her. I like her dolls incorporation of rainbow more then most Amaya dolls because it’s a pastel rainbow now. It’s tastefully spread through her pink hair, doted onto her checkerboard sleeves and kept going through her holographic pants. The strangest rainbow in sight is those heels which work pretty well. The hearts everywhere give a lovestruck, heart-eyes type of look which I love.
Love her hair clips, big ass earrings and her lil mole.
Her second outfit? YES. I love all the layering with the hoodie under a jean jacket and a flannel tied over pink bedazzled shorts (I love a bedazzling moment)
My only problem comes in her shoes, her shoes, her SHOES. RH. Just make booties. Just make short boots. I own tons, they’re very popular.
De’Vious twin pack!
Half and half rainbow moment, love that.
I only wish they would’ve symplified the rainbow so Holly’s colors weren’t so…much.
Cuz obvious Laurel is the Red, Orange, Yellow of the rainbow, all on a white backdrop. This leaves Holly with Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet which is just a lot of colors to balance while making them distinct. She looks good but they didn’t nail it. I think removing the green would’ve been how they nailed it. It just looks so discordant with the rest of everything the colors-
Fashion studio Skyler Bradshaw!
Despite sharing a name with her, I have a love hate relationship with Skyler’s outfit concepts. It’s often lots of denim’s and spots inspired stuff and. Yeah this belt skirt is not really the moment. It’s giving 00’s denim insanity and it’s not great. Her shoes and bodysuit are just fine, no problems there!
