despite being more often than not a "rules as written" fan over "rule of cool", i really do love me a good "rules be damned, i'll give you this awesome moment" call. like matt giving fcg the otohan kill despite what her hp was at or brennan giving cerrit an extra mage slayer reaction attack at the end of calamity. honestly, if anything, i think the fact they mostly play by the book makes these moments even better because it really has that extra weight towards those decisions to put the rules aside.
i guess this is vent art sort of? anyways look at these weirdos
i know there's several ocd creatures already but i didn't vibe with any of them so here's mine. its name is smh creature. it moves around by hiding into the ground and then reemerging (at the worst possible moment) but can also slide around.
[Immediately after Fit brutally roasted a chatter for being a filthy metagamer]
Dono: You became my comfort streamer. It has been great here.
Fit: Oh, thank you so much, thank you thank you thank you. I'm glad I can bring you comfort when I insult the sht out of some chatters, I'm glad I can comfort you. That's right!
Fit: People say I'm nice, no, I'm not nice. I'm polite. Mostly. There's a difference between being nice and being polite, I am polite. I am polite.
I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.
I was originally thinking about posting my Gabriel artwork and animations online but then I saw the type of anon asks you answer 😨
I think I’m gonna have to keep these gabes for myself. Unfortunately, I am weak to Gabriel simping which is weird because the venn diagram for Gabriel fans and horny people is a circle.
If you tell ppl to not make weird remarks in the caption they usually listen, on tumblr at least. Everywhere else, especially Reddit, you will get weird comments.
On my second read of Harrow the Ninth, and I'm just highlighting all of the things that catch my attention.
Like this shit that's already happening literally on page 21
😭
Honorable mention from the same page:
Also wondering if anyone else interpreted this as the names of the 200 Ninth children all overlayed on top of each other before we figured out what was actually going on?
I did notice this on my first read, and it drove me crazy the whole fucking time wondering what it meant
ORTUS in a different fucking font 😭
The way Tazmuir uses the format of the printed word to support the storytelling makes me so happy.
just discussing PvP and the issues people r having with Blue hiding !! tagged discourse and crit to be safe but it isn't intentioned with either it's just me rambling
Okay I mained bads perspective yesterday but I keep seeing people say that Etoiles and Roier couldn't find anyone to kill for nine hours--and listen . Is it that they couldn't find ANYONE or that they didn't find who they WANTED to kill, because they did see Foolish and Cellbit didn't they? Two people in nine hours is SUPER ROUGH yes but they did run into red more than once and just didn't kill them so idk I'd be more into it if they really didn't see a single player for any time whatsoever but like. Just because they didn't see bad more than once ISNT the same; I think I just mainly take issue with the fact everyone is trying to give bad a hard time for not fighting while refusing to acknowledge the entire server wanted his head on a platter, why should he 1v12?? Like that's ridiculous how is that even content when he'd get curbstomped against that many people, every time people want to fight him it's only AFTER they gather at least four to six people to take him out like be realistic if you want to 1v1 id be like fuck yea but he knows that where there's one there's the rest of y'all not too far away I just do not get it he's not a coward he's using basic common sense (plus even when people offer a 1v1 they're ALWAYS in a vc telling their team where to go to jump him) that is there's One of him and An Entire Server who wants him Dead good as he is (and tbf i also disagree with etoiles calling their fight from the other day a 1v2 because it wasn't--it started as a 2v2 and fit ran because he almost died (I'm aware of the miscommunication btw I don't blame either of them!!! It really really sucks bc I'm sure etoiles could've escaped) but regardless it WAS a 2v2 that bad didn't even Want to take on initially, it would've stayed that way if fit had stuck around because he was going to die anyways ykwim but to say it was unfair when it didn't start off that way is eh 2 me mostly bc it sounds like they jumped Etoiles off guard as if Etoiles and Fit didn't engage them first) HOWEVER saying all that I think they really should try to encourage PVP in different ways than just "everyone go hunt down this one specific player" because then it's kind of just . Like that encourages that player to just hide because why would they fight that many people? Boosting the kill percentage helps but manhunts don't imo they'll just stay underground the whole time and I don't blame anyone who does outside of even Blue--like when Blue and Green were hunting Red, of course red is going to stay hundreds of blocks away to avoid PvP it's just numbers ykwim idk it's purgatory but when you being killed will set your entire team back because there's significantly less of you then everyone else I don't blame them really and I hope the admins can come up with a different way to try and get fights going
the sumeru archon quest popped off. I started the second act and I just HAD to finish it today because I was so engrossed. this feels like a big step up from inazuma's wobbly writing, and it's also a more interesting and ambitious plot than mondstadt and liyue had. I particularly like that the traveller feels a bit more...engaged? Like an actual character? In the other nations, the traveller has kind of been a bystander. while I wish they would commit to giving them more voiced lines, the sumeru storyline feels more geared around them. With the other nations, it often felt like the plotlines could progress in almost the same way whether the traveller was there or not. this time, they have clearer and more specific motivations: it's obvious why they want to find the dendro archon - specifically the god of wisdom - and ask her questions about their sibling. their relationship with dunyarzad is also developed enough to provide secondary motivation, too - she feels like a much more successful, developed npc in comparison to teppei, who we actually get enough time with to care about.
all of the characters are introduced at a nice pace, as is a lot of the worldbuilding. I like that we meet new characters with each new area - collei and tighnari for the forest, dehya, nilou, dunyarzad and nahida for sumeru city, alhaitham and dori for port ormos. it breaks it up well and stops it from feeling overwhelming. the fact that the first act lays the groundwork for how sumeru works - the eremites, the akademiya, canned knowledge, the akasha, etc. - means that second act can delve into these concepts more thoroughly without being too confusing. I love how creative and weird the second act was, too! I wasn't expecting them to go with a weird, time-loop type thing, and I love that a genshin storyline actually managed to throw me off and do something unexpected for a change
it's a much stronger start than sumeru had, and the fact that the archon quest may not actually be wrapped up until 3.2 gives me a lot of hope for the rest. I can't wait to see how scaramouche ends up involved. my guess is that the fatui will have some hand in the dream-harvesting that the akademiya is doing, but beyond that, I'm not sure what to expect. I'm very excited, though
also alhaitham is a sussy bastard. I could fix him but whatever's wrong with him is much hotter
My first time reading the light novel series, Ascendance of a Bookworm had only 20 English translated volumes available then and I opted to read the rest through the web novel by MTL along with the short stories and Hannelore's 5th Year.
I reread my favorite volumes after as I can't get over it and Hannelore's 5th Year hasn't concluded yet. The last I remember about it is Dregarnuhr and the gazebo proposal. I feel bad for Hannelore😭.
My obsession with it hasn't ended there though. I still reread it from time to time. Recently, I rewatched the anime and reread the translated LNs available from Part 1 to Part 5. It feels like dejavu sometimes as I feel like it's something I've seen myself do it in the past already—which I of course, did. It still made me cry a lot and it's still as enjoyable to read as ever. I'll probably reread it again when the English-translated LN Part 5 volumes 8 to 12 will be available.
I ain't really a fan of reading LN as they're more expensive than English novels and has more volumes than I could count but I'm glad I've chosen to read Honzuki. In fact, I want to read more and see what happens after Alexandria is established as a duchy and see who ends up with Hannelore and Charlotte.
Hannelore and Wilfried would have made a cute sincere pair. Ngl, when Hannelore accepted Wilfried's hand during that intrusion in the ditter game, I really rooted for Hannelore's liking for him but I Hannelore deserves better. I know Wilfried tied him to his circumstances and the people around him (his retainers) doesn't help either but I can't believe he's still so naive until now. How can he reject my favorite character Hannelore twice? I'm not sure if it's only my imagination or my poor memory but is it because he likes Brunhilde? I'm not sure if that's a fact and it's been so long since I've read the WN and rereading the LN didn't really mention anything about that. Must have just been my imagination and different comprehension before or because of MTL. I can't think of any good pair for Hannelore tbh. I only like her with Wilfried because she likes (liked?) him. Kenntrips is nice but I still can't swallow the fact that they're cousins and that such stuff is commonplace in Yurgenschmidt. On the other hand, I don't really have much of an impression on Ortwin except that he's smart and plays Wilfried like a harspiel which is not a good impression either. Hannelore's ideal guy is someone opposite of Lestilaut and she seems to like sincere guys that will do everything to get the love of their life (the Sylvester kind, not the Anastasius kind- I believe there's a distinction between the two). Wilfried has the sincerity I think... but he's still immature and frustratingly naive. With that said, I really can't think of anyone to root for for Hannelore's partner. I'm not comfortable with yuri but the only person I can trust Hannelore with are Rozemyne and Charlotte. There's not many archduke candidates we know of and I believe the only one left is Melchoir but he's much too young and if I remember correctly, he'll only be a first year at Hannelore's last year. I can't root for either Kenntrips nor Ortwin 100% but they have the best chances. And I'd rather root for the former than the latter despite them being cousins only for the fact that Kenntrips seems to understand Hannelore in some way. In any case, I will make a note for the future me to read the LN if ever Hannelore's story be made into one.
In Charlotte's case, I envy her mental and emotional strength. Given that she aspires to be an Aub though, I wonder if she will take interest in genwinnen and perhaps a bit of ditter as unlike Rozemyne and Hannelore, she doesn't have much experience in battle and strategy yet. In any case, I also wonder who's gonna be her partner. No one really comes to mind.
I'm just glad that Ehrenfest has Charlotte and Melchoir as archduke candidates. With them, I think Ehrenfest will be fine. Considering the law that grooms and brides be only married into Ehrenfest and not the other way around for 5 years, Charlotte may be able to stay there if she finds someone that'll support her as an Archduchess when she graduates.
Melchoir has a great sense of responsibility and seems to be more mature than Rozemyne. He has the potential to become Aub but I see him more as a support role like Bonifatius. I hope he takes the good points of his brother and sisters and grow up suited to be an Archduke.
I get tired of constantly pouring my heart out when asked about my stuff only for it to fall flat. Like why did they even ask me to begin with??? Just to tease me??? 😭 bruh
i know my brain is broken because while watching the new hunger games movie today i had the thought huh this guy's got some ~parallels with saul goodman
