Hello! first time asker! I've only just recently got back into AC and you're pretty much the only AC blog I've followed so far (after reading your fantastic Eagle of Alamut fic) but the thing that happened to me seems very much something you'd enjoy.

Which is the Altair Jumpscare I got

to preface, I'm an ad blocker extraordinaire and put that on pretty much everything - except my mobile games. But even so, with how much i adblock the ads i DO get are very generic with very generic characters.

EXCEPT FOR ONE BIZARRE AD

A Tap-Away ad that for some inexplicable reason had Altair in it where he waved his arms like a wacky inflatable tube man and was then promptly sucked into the tapaway cube.

I was so caught off guard that i didn't nab a screenshot and I have been trying and failing to get him to show up again after 3 weeks of doing so much more Wordscape than I've ever had before to no avail😭

But it did spawn the idea of Desmond, with a burner/stolen phone, playing a mobile game and getting that Altair Jumpscare like i did which, with some digging by Rebecca because why the hell is he in an ad??? find a breach in Abstergo's database which they can exploit.

Alright, for this one, we’ll set it during AC2. He’s not that close to anybody yet so he sorta kinda stole Lucy’s burner phone while she was looking.

He always had a knack for stealing, probably the only thing that didn’t make William Miles say ‘again’ more than five times.

It only became so much easier when he started reliving Ezio’s memories.

The Bleeding Effect, right?

That’s what Lucy called it.

Regardless, Desmond figured it would be alright to play it anyway. It had a cell service and he always returned it to Lucy’s bag before she notices anyway.

It was during one of his free time (Rebecca said the Animus was acting fussy for some reason), he figured he can play one more level before they tell him to go back in.

The level wasn’t anything new, kinda funny that one of the words was ‘imprison’ and he got a bonus for trying out ‘prim’ (primo was a no go though and it took a moment before Desmond realized it was because it wasn’t English, fuck, was this the Bleeding Effect as well?. Just when he cleared it, the phone let out a loud static sound.

Which was weird because (1) the game’s audio was set to mute and (2) the phone itself was set to full silent with 0 volume on any kind of media.

They all turned to stare at him and he would have apologized, had he not heard someone shout his name coming from the phone.

“Desmond!”

It was Altaïr.

It could only be Altaïr.

The voice was the same voice he heard back in the Animus.

And he shouting at Desmond, staring at the screen as he slammed one hand against…

The screen?

Golden wisps wrapped around him, dragging him to the darkness behind him as he shouted, “Desmond! Find us! We’re-”

The ‘ad’ disappeared.

And Desmond was now staring at the next level.

He could clearly see one of the words was already filled out for some reason.

‘Breach’.

“Desmond…”

“Sorry, Lucy.” He handed the phone to Lucy as he said, “I was just playing ‘cause I was bored.”

Before Lucy could grab it, he pulled it back and pressed it over his chest as he asked, “Did you guys hear Altaïr too?”

“We heard him but, more importantly, Desmond…” Rebecca glanced at Lucy before she said, “None of us should have any phones at all. Abstergo could track us.”

“It’s not mine!” Lucy immediately said, taking a step back as she said, “I don’t know why you think that’s my phone, Desmond.”

“What?” Desmond blinked, “But… I took this from your bag…”

“Shit.” Rebecca’s eyes widened as she realized, “Did… Did Abstergo plant that in your bag, Lucy?”

“What?” Lucy turned to stare at Rebecca.

“That’s not possible. We’re the ones who brought that bag here, remember?” Shaun reminded Rebecca, “And we’re absolutely sure we didn’t put that phone there.”

“Then… who did?” Rebecca frowned as she mumbled.

“We need to get out of here.” Shaun said, “Desmond, turn that phone off and give it to Rebecca. She’ll check it.”

“Wait-”

“We don’t have to tell Bill about this.” Shaun said, “That phone could have easily given Abstergo our location. We need to move.”

Lucy’s eyes widened when Desmond gave the phone to Rebecca and she said, “We need to destroy it then. To keep us safe!”

“What? No!” Desmond stepped forward to cover Rebecca.

No.

To cover the phone.

“Altaïr just used it to contact me. We need to know how it was able to do that.”

“It’s a risk but he’s right, that Altaïr could have just as easily been a trap but we need to be sure.” Shaun was already taking down the papers on his corkboard as he said, “Come on, Lucy, let’s pack as quickly as we can. We can contact Bill on the move.”

Desmond frowned.

Lucy looked pale.

Was she afraid that Abstergo already knew their connection.

“Hey.” Desmond placed a hand on her shoulder, feeling her freeze. He smiled at her as he said, “We’ll be fine.”

His smile grew as he said, “I’ll kill any Templar coming our way, okay?”

twitch ads are SO OBNOXIOUS i always forget how bad they are because i’m normally watching joe, right, and he isn’t partnered so no one gets ads on his stream. and then i do have a sub for scar, and also i have a flotilla of adblockers on firefox including like, two different twitch adblockers that i swap between when one isn’t working. but occasionally this system fails. occasionally i try to watch twitch on something that isn’t my desktop computer (or twitch changes another thing on their backend to try to prevent adblockers from working). and i am forced. to suffer through twitch with ads. and at least half the time this happens i just get too frustrated and leave entirely. i have never had twitch ads roll and get less than like, six. they’ll repeat themselves. they’re obnoxious. at least one political candidate will appear. i will be ready to shoot my fucking tv by the end of it. last time my twitch adblocker stopped working because twitch changed a thing i got this twitch page that was like, trying to guilt-trip me for using my adblocker. fuck you i will stop blocking ads when ads stop blocking ME

Explaining to my friends that I don't get a spotify wrapped because that only works on the mobile app and I am so opposed conceptually to the idea of experiencing advertisements or paying for anything that I exclusively use spotify via internet browser which in combination with adblock means I get infinite free music with no ads whatsoever. However it does freeze sometimes when it knows there should be an advertisement but fails to play one but you can just press play again and it's fine, also at the end of the year I do not get a fancy little stat thing. I'm not jealous. I will not change

btw for people switching/are using firefox install these

- sponsorblock: does as the name says, gets rid of those sponsors that many youtubers do nowadays. comes with many options [so if for some reason you don’t want your million+ views youtuber to miss out on a few cents, you can have it not detect them]

- Ublock Origin: The king of adblockers really, also can show how many ads that’s been blocked in total [horrifying results if i’m being real]

- PoperBlocker: sometimes pop ups can sneak through UBO, well with this plugin it’s certain that they won’t!

i’ve been using these extensions/plugins for as long as i can remember and they’ve yet to fail me [and if they do just refresh the page]

i spend a lot of time scrolling pinterest and once you start a cc finds board, you get all kinds of good recs in your home feed! i definitely recommend doing that and getting the app for your phone too.

check if any of ur inspo simblrs have cc finds blogs, lots of them do! and follow! (i dont have one tho im so disorganized)

searching thru the #ts4cc tag here on tumblr

and when all else fails: venture into simsfinds (previously simsdom). desperate times call for desperate measures. just use an adblocker!!!!

1. Install ReVanced Manager: https://github.com/revanced/revanced-manager

2. Install Vanced MicroG: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/team-vanced/microg-youtube-vanced

3. Open the manager, switch to the "patcher" tab, and find the reccomended version (ex: `18.23.35`)

4. Go to APKMirror and download the Universal APK (not bundle) for that version (ex: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-18-05-40-release/youtube-18-23-35-2-android-apk-download/)

5. Go to *⚙️ Settings > Apps > See all apps > YouTube* and tap **🚫 Disable** (optional)

6. Go to *App details* and tap **Uninstall** (optional)

7. In ReVanced Manager, go to *🔧 Patcher > Select an application > __💾 Storage__* and pick the downloaded YouTube APK (ex: `com.google.android.youtube_18.23.35-1538252224_minAPI26(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a,x86,x86_64)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk`)

8. In *Select patches*, tap **Recommended** a few times to make sure you have 50+ patches selected

9. Tap *✔️ Done > 🔧 Patch > Install > Install anyway*

The funny thing is that when I did disable adblocker on youtube for a little while, all of the ads were either for youtube tv or walmart. Isn't google supposed to be an ad company with a panoptic understanding of my inner psyche? How you can fail this hard at serving targeted ads to me.

I really enjoy firefox. It's ad blocking extension is free and hasn't failed me yet, plus it runs faster than Chrome. It does occasionally glitch out my screen, but it takes but a mouse flick to put it back to right. I've like Opera, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc but only Firefox has impressed me.

I have such bad memories on Firefox but everyone talks about it so nice lately to the point I think it'd be the best option to switch to from chrome

As long as it takes less memory with multiple tabs opened and has adblock it sounds amazing

Hi! Weird request, but i have been trying and failing all week to track down an online english subtitled way to watch Mondays: See You 'This' Week!. I saw a trailer for it a while back and got obsessed, but am so disappointed that it doesnt seem to be more well known >:[ I found your tumblr by searching the tags! Do you happen to know a way to watch it that doesn't involve learning how to torrent? Cause im willing to learn but am trying to exhaust all my options first. No worries if not!! Thanks!

i highly recommend adblockers and other such internet security things when going to the first site (the one where i watched it) because i do not vouch on that, my pc is fine but its also old enough that im starting to wonder if the viruses are too advanced to run

this is the ONE and ONLY* place where i have found you can watch it for free with english subs without downloading anything

warning that the subs are a Bit fucked, in places theyre out of sync and this is the biggest thing; there is both english and japanese subs at the same time which is a bit distracting but also not the worst considering the circumstances (re: when i first found the dramacool link it was because i had resorted to using Bing)

*the same source just on a different site is here (found upon trying to find a second/better source while replying, i did not find a better source)

its joinked from a streaming site called u-next which does exist and i tried to fuck around with it but iirc (and this was a good few months ago so yknow) it might be region locked on top of being subscription
