all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?

i consider tornadoes to be a pretty legitimate risk when it comes to natural disasters in europe, but people tend to not have much of a grasp on them occurring outside of tornado alley in the usa. i follow this guy for a couple years now and he is a huge recommendation to follow if you are interested in tornadoes. i am grateful that he did such a well-researched video on tornadoes in europe, and i am also kinda glad that the areas he marked as most active, are the same areas i personally have considered to be remarkably active compared to others. definitely worth a watch!

Do you think they'll bring lestat to paris early like ep 3 or 4 or will we only see lestat in louis n armand flashbacks? i feel like we're gonna get lestat with everyone in paris sooner than later i'm just really hope so bc i really would love to see a louis/armand/lestat interaction hehe
i started out writing nah i got no idea i haven’t even been imagin— no. that is a lie lol.
I want louis “the nights were made for thinking of him” de pointe du lac floridly hallucinating that french man as louis crosses the ocean, staggers around war devastated eastern europe, in france, in paris. our louis is looking Not Well in the promo we’ve had so far. it makes me speculate lol.
so honestly, for me? if we’re getting dreams and hallucinations and flashbacks? i’m sated, so…so far i’m wishing for a horrifying irl reveal later in the game. probably at the trial. so we can be as blindsided about irl lestat as louis is. for maximum devastation.
tbh the only louis-armand-lestat interaction that’s been vaguely in my head as likely to happen is the trial, and that is wildly painful so i uh haven’t been thinking about it too closely lol.
idk though, i’m just hanging on trying to recalibrate with every drop of promo we get

Honestly feeling afraid and quite stressed about the latest news:
For those who haven't heard: Russian rockets hit Poland kiling two. Regardless of whether Art. 5 of NATO is gonna be invoked or not, it's still an escalation. It's still scary. I'm afraid. I'm gonna stress-clean and hope tomorrow may bring less-bad-than-worst-case-scenario news.

today in "continuing adventures reading the original Sherlock Holmes stories": there's this one story that was published in 1904 where Holmes is called in to help with an International Diplomatic Incident involving an ill-advised letter from a hot-headed European ruler. if Holmes doesn't solve the case, Doyle writes that it could lead to a "great war" between European countries. he then goes on to explain the general geopolitical state of Europe and Britain's status as a country that could entirely rearrange the power structure of the continent except they like to remain neutral mostly . . . in a way that more or less neatly describes the geopolitical calculations of the July Crisis that would lead to World War 1 ten years later. the estimation that such a war could lead to hundreds of thousands dead is off (the total death toll for WW1 is around 40,000,000), but it's still very eerily prescient to read at this remove. a catastrophic disaster hanging over all their heads being foretold in a trashy throwaway mystery story ten years in advance

something a bit pathetic and embarrassing about me is i am soo bad at geography. it’s like this part of my education was missed maybe i was sick that day but genuinely at the age of twenty three i am still surprised by where things are located and the way the world is set up still sometimes confuses me i have 2 really think about it . couldn’t tell you what ocean or sea is where at ALL. name the capital of a country? well . hm. i could probably do some of them. also no matter how many times i look at a map and i go yes that place is there i will forget it. my brain doesn’t want me to know these things. and who am i to tell her no
