I’m thinking of making a discord server for crafters with disabilities/chronic illnesses

It would have multiple channels for generic chat about knitting/crochet/other fibre arts, as well as channels dedicated to venting about illness, asking for advice or tips on dealing with pain while crafting etc.

I will set up the server if there are 10 people interested, and we can see if it grows from there :)

This is such a pain in my butt but OHHH isn't is beautiful? People have like my post about my selkie shawl so here it is. It's hand dyed merino yarn (which was titled selkie yarn) and light grey merino yarn. I used an Irish moss stitch for the bored and regular knit and pearl for the body.

Feel free to steal the idea if you find your own selkie/seal inspired yarn.

okay so like, here’s what’s good:

I broke my leg when I was 11 and taught myself how to crochet while recovering but I had actually wanted to learn how to knit and went with my mothers advice of “learn to crochet, it’s easier”. which, whatever (funny and ironic since my mother never knit or crochet, her further reasoning was “one hook how hard can it be”)

anyway, since I’ve been very focused on on knitting this year with minor hiatuses of crochet in between, something has felt different while knitting like.. like I was supposed to be doing that all along? I just keep having these strong feelings of when I look at my hands they’re not, my hands? like obviously it’s Me and That’s My Body, but more of This Isn’t The First Time These Hands Have Crafted Like This

my first instinct is that maybe it’s my lineage and connecting way back with some of my ancestors, and them reaching out somehow or way and that they knit and knit for necessity. maybe explaining my batshit obsession with socks, but?? I would kill to hear if someone else has had similar experiences

also amidst uncertainty and feeling less than themselves, to all my fellow moots and writers: i hope u know how amazingly all of you write, whether it’s smut or angst or fluff. even if interactions are lacking (some of it can be blamed on t*mblr’s shitty ui/ux and programming) or the writing just feels off for some reason, it’s perfectly normal. it’s part of growth and improvement and it’s like yadda yadda yadda we’ve all heard this before and don’t really implement it because the brain has funny ways of making us feel like shit and it absolutely sucks but it will pass soon. i won’t have a set time on how long this will last and i cannot tell you how long of a break you should take but at the end of the day you should be prioritising yourself first and when you feel refreshed, you can come back to your wips and requests and first drafts. sending all my love to u guys cause we do this shit for free. give yourself more credit and take care of yourself fr <3

#i do love tumblr but i also miss the deeply knit community of folks that i built on twt during the pandemic #like it was v much tied to one drama and one fandom and it got a bit harder as all of us drifted into other ones #(though i did manage to get most of them w jeffgame) #but it was just nice to have a public & private space with them and just yell about things #like hnghhhh ik post pandemic none of us have The Time and also I was using the whole thing as a mental crutch to deal with The Horrors #and also twt is a hellscape that i don't want to go back to/was terrible for my attention span/is now owned by a terrible human #but man is it hard to not look back on that time and feel incredibly nostalgic for it #also i'm like well aware of the fact that i'm truly such a flake when it comes to communicating with people these days cause again #rl is exhausting and its no longer the pandemic and i'm no longer using this to avoid my whole life #but Still

speculation about how much a show is faring based on trending tags is so weird to me like sometimes people just like shows a normal amount, happen to see it on the PLATFORMS trending tab/recommendations, then talk favorably about them to their friends/coworkers/family afterwards. it's not that complicated. word of mouth is so underestimated here tbh
