there is no moral value in reading fast and there's also no moral value in reading slowly. people who read slowly aren't automatically/necessarily reading more thoroughly and thoughtfully than people who read quickly, and at the same time reading is not a race. some people read fast because that's how their brains work; some people read slowly because that's how THEIR brains work. some fast readers are getting deep into analysis and close reading and some slow readers are just along for the ride and not thinking too hard. these are both equally valid and valuable ways of engaging with books

and nobody should shame anybody else for reading slowly but also if i see one more post that suggests people who read quickly only read meaningless garbage (your elitism is showing btw) and lack reading comprehension, i will start blocking people. it's just bullshit, and it's weird judgy bullshit at that. some people have jobs in books where reading hundreds of books a year is part of it. some people are academics. some people are bedridden or isolated and trust me you get through a lot of books when you're stuck in your room alone for days. and some people love the books you consider garbage and they're just having fun passing the time with light fiction that isn't too brain intensive and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that either, because reading can be a form of relaxation and doesn't always have to be an ~intellectual challenge~ to be worth doing, actually

and idk if i’m swinging at a hornet’s nest here (defo would’ve been in 2017) but that’s why i don’t like black paladin lance lmao. lance isn’t the best choice for black paladin, and that’s okay. leading and strategizing are things he’s good at, like so many others, but it isn’t his forte. with his wide skillset and smooth adaptability, he’s the perfect fit for the role of support as the guardian of water. water is liquid! it fills in the gaps!! while everyone else has a dedicated Thing, he picks up the slack to make the team stronger!!!!!

and if we’re looking at this through a klance lens, there’s a lot to say about lance’s fabricated rivalry. keith was (at least in lance’s eyes) absolutely perfect. a perfect student, a perfect pilot, able to effortlessly do things that it took endless practice for lance to get decent at. of course lance starts to hate him, who wouldn’t in that position. not to mention the months spent being constantly compared to keith. to have keith— that keith— fall in love with lance would be so narratively delicious. to have someone so seemingly perfect look up to you? to have someone so seemingly perfect show he isn’t by being vulnerable and open and trusting you to not to be cruel? chefs kiss MUAH

Okay but like, where's the men?

On the topic of g/t media can I talk about another, more niche thing I wish we saw more of? Giant men. Hear me out.

Giantess enjoyers eat SO well, specially in anime. Like, what the heck? Aashush I guess it's because it's more common to like female giants than the reverse but, I'll explain. In the latest games I've been following I've gotten two examples of giant women, back to back, Phantylia from Honkai Star Rail and Izanami from Onmyoji.

Both are bosses from their respective games and I mean, Look at this!!! You guys are eating so good!

Not to mention the other countless examples of giant women in media like Susan from MVA, the entirety of Steven Universe, Diane from Nanatsu, that superhero I forgot the name of from BNHA, even Gigantic, the canceled movie, would have a girl as the giant character.

There's so much content of female giants in media and there's so few male giants in comparison. What examples can we give aside from kids' cartoons? Sho? Gulliver? The giant from Jack and The Beanstalk? And that's it, I think.

When we do get male giants, they're mostly beast-like. Give me elegant male giants, give me princely, ikemen type of giants. Make them nice to look at! I want more healthy masculinity portrayed in media that has g/t, compared to the countless examples of healthy feminity we get.

Just pointing out the discrepancy in content and, I mean, we can guess the reason for that, right? But I really wish we could see more g/t content in media involving men lmao Mostly because I find it cooler, as well as more appealing.

Back to HSR, there's a future villain that is the god of destruction that Might deliver what I'm looking for but it's a big question mark at the moment. But if he does, maybe I'll finally get a bit of what I want to see more of? I sure hope so cause look at this guy-

Others learn the hard way that this fucking toddler (hes seven now thank you very much) can fix a teleported that they hardly understand.

I also like to think Danny uses it to his advantage as much as he can. “But im just seven mister pwease don’t make me fill out paper work 🥺” but it doesn’t work in The Batman cause hes apparently the worlds greatest detective and knows this one isnt actually seven. Danny put in so much work trying to keep Bruce in the dark (thats a lie he didn’t do shit to protect his identity) but the knight saw through him pretty early on. Like a week after Danny moved in with him. Though I did take him a bout a month to get him to do even that.

reminding myself on this busy morning that i also have dreams of taking piano lessons & singing lessons & also honing my writing skills & absorbing as many books as i used to when i was a kid & at the very least taking up cute tennis dates & dabbling into art & just becoming an artistic generalist. also reminding myself that there are pre-meds out there who managed to pursue something they’re passionate in (some are even professional athletes) & still excelled in medicine & if they can do it so can I
