Y/n and lip have been dating for a long time, they had fights here and there but it never resulted in this. Mickey Milkovich and Y/n were friends since childhood, always playing together when they were young, and soon that turned into spray painting the sides of convenience stores and stealing cars. Mickey was head over to raggedy boots for Y/n, he always has been. He always holds her when she's sad, hes there for her whenever she needs it, especially when her jackass boyfriend thinks it's a good idea to hurt her.

"Hey babe, could you pass me that pen over there?" Y/n asked.

Lip looked at the pen right next to him, then looked at her.

"What, are your fuckin legs broken? Grab it yourself."

"Well excuse the fuck out of me for asking politely."

Suddenly with extreme force she was knocked off her feet, there was an almost burning pain in her nose when her back hit the cold tiles. Y/n could feel the warmth of blood run down her face and tears fill her eyes.

"Fuckin dumb bitch, thinking you can talk to me like that."

Ian and Carl were up stairs when they heard the fight brake out, for the first time in a long time Carl actually buried his face in Ian's side and began sobbing. Lip could be heard hitting Y/n, yelling absurdities, and Y/n attempting to fight back.

Ian listened when all fell silent below, the sound of the back door open and shut had him running to the nearest window. He watched as Y/n ran from the house and up the street, reaching down and rubbing Carl's back as he continued to cry.

Y/n ran as fast as her feet would let her, the icy cold air making her nose burn more. She had two options, go back home and hope to God her parents don't see this mess, or go to Mickeys....she bolted in the direction of the Milkovich house, the snow crunching beneath her boots as she ran.

She reached the front porch out of breath, marching up the old steps and banging on the door. Y/n smiled when she heard Mickey and Mandy start yelling about who's gonna open the door.

When the bickering stopped the door opened and Mick was standing there in a black tank top and grey sweat pants, freshly showered with a toothbrush in his mouth.

"Hey, Y/n-......What the fuck happend to you?"

He stepped outside, his bare feet hitting the cold porch and making him hiss. Mick spit over the railing, set down his tooth brush and began examining her face.

Her nose was bloody and bruised, her lip was split, and the side of her face was black and blue.n

"Did he do this?" Mick asked.

She didn't answer, her gaze only dropped to the floor.

Mickey nodded, gently taking her arm and leading her into his house and up the stairs to his bedroom. He closed the door and pulled some rubbing alcohol from his bedside drawer, Mick then grabbed a wash cloth from his clean clothes that had be neatly folded and placed on his bed.

"You do that?" Y/n asked.

He looked over at his stack of clothes, he smiled and shook his head.

"Nah, you know I don't got time for that bullshit."

"Folding your clothes is bullshit?"

"It's a waste of time is what it is. I'm gonna wearing them anyway, what's the sense in folding them?"

"So that they don't get wrinkled."

"I'm a guy who lives in a town full of bums, you think they'll give a shit if I walk around with a wrinkled shirt?"

Y/n giggled and shook her head, watching as Mickey poured some alcohol onto the cloth and came over to her.

"This is gonna sting like a bitch, but it'll clean your face." He said.

Mick gently pressed it against one of her cuts, Y/n closed her eyes taking in the smell of his room, it smelled of cigarettes and his musk.

"There you go." He whispered. "You're okay."

Y/n felt his warm lips press against hers, she slowly wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down onto the bed with her.

Kicking the door closed, Mickey began removing his shirt. Y/n fallowed his lead, all while kissing his neck.

Mick unbuttoned his pants, pulling his cock from his boxers and lining himself up with her entrance. Y/n gripped his biceps as he slowly pushed in, both letting out a low grown.

Mandy was sitting on the couch playing videogames, when she started hearing Mick's headboard hitting the wall. A smiled spread over her face and she chuckled.

Major Ian gallagher defence coming.

OKAH FIRST Ian 100% deserves mickey the same way mickey deserves Ian. When mickey is first introduced he is a homophobic closet case with no support system by the end of the show he is happily married to his fucking high-school sweetheart with his own apartment in a nice area and he has his own business. HE HAS ALL OF THAT BECAUSE OF IAN. Ian became mickeys support system and was always pushing him to become a better person. He shows mickey that he's not 'fucked for life' and he trys his hardest to protect him. Even if the way Ian did it , he got mickey to come out. Mickey needed that push. U think he would have come out if he didn't have someone he loves telling him to?

Now the cheating. The only time Ian cheats on mickey is during his manic episode in s4/5 AND HE GOT HELP AFTER. It's crazy to me that people don't think Ian regrets that and seriously use it as a reason to hate Ian. U better hate fiona and Debbie and Lip too. Yk what better hate mickey too cause he did have a wife and boyfriend (this is a joke don't kill me)

Ian not signing the marriage papers is upsetting but it's not hard to understand why he did it. Ian grew up around frank and Monica , his main representation of marriage is an absolute shit show. He's scared of turning his relationship with the man he loves into that. This is an expected fear from Ian given his worries about being like his mum. He doesn't want to complicate things. And he talks to mickey about this. Ian not signing isn't him being horrible it's his way of trying to protect mickey from himself because he loves mick.

And Ian is always trying to protect mickey, he backs him up in fights, when mickey breaks out of prison he doesn't go to the cops, he breaks up with mickey when he thinks their relationship is hurting him, he tells lip "hit my husband again and I'll fucking kill you". CLEARLY PROTECTIVE.

I don't have ss but mf was also like "Ian laughs at mickey being raped" so talking about that now.

The first time Ian "laughs at him" is in s3 when he tries to talk to mickey right after it happens. I don't think it takes a genius to know that Ian was trying to lighten the mood, not laugh AT mickey. He was also traumatised when Terry catching them happened. He laughs nervously because he has no clue how to navigate a situation like that at such a young age. He's a child making a badly timed, uncomfortable joke because he watched something terrible happen.

The second time Ian does this is with Caleb. During his relationship with caleb, Ian tries to convince himself that mickey was bad for him a few times. Making yourself hate someone is a lot easier than accepting the fact that they are gone. He shouldn't be telling someone he basically just met about that, but in his defence, he's talking about something he probably feels happened to him as well. Ian is affected by all that happened with mickey, and it makes sense that he tells people. In the same way, it would make sense for svetlana to tell people about the day it does for Ian too. All 3 are victims of Terry. Ian also has people telling him how bad mickey is all the time (mainly fiona tbh what if her problem with the milkovichs ) so he's trying to believe that, a easy way to do that is get validation from someone who hasn't been been around mickey. Caleb has never met mick, he has no reason to try defend him. I also don't really think what Ian was saying was making fun of mickey, it's not nice but yk?

When mickey punches Ian because he didn't sign the marriage papers, HE DID NOT HAVE IT COMING. No one deserves to be hit by their partner. I mean, Jesus crist mickey literally broke his leg. His is probably the worst aspect of their relationship by that I mean the violence. A lot of it is playful, but it's not always healthy. Mickey was understandably upset but he shouldn't have hit Ian.

Okayyy now the hall of shame stuff. To me, that shit doesn't count cause Ian and mickey both act kinda out of character. I really don't like Ian saying that, and he shouldn't, but it's hardly a reason for Ian not to deserve mick. 87% is still the majority of his heart, and Ian wasn't saying he doesn't love mickey. Also acting like mickey hasn't said worst things.

LAST THING. Yes, mickey sacrifices a lot for Ian, like when he goes to prison for him, but not everyone shows love through large reckless actions. You shouldn't expect Ian to give things up to prove he loves mickey. Sacrifice isn't the only way to show affection. U can do it through words or gifts or quality time. Ian shows his love a lot through words, like when he tells mickey, "we have nothing to be ashamed of" early as s2. He makes him feel better when mickey is scared he would be a bad dad.

Ian gallagher haters are DUMB . Some people shouldn't be allowed to watch shameless cause how can u be so small-minded. People who say 1 of them doesn't deserve the other are just aggravating. Gallavich has a lot of ups and downs, and its part of what makes them so appealing. Despite all the bad things they go through, they always love and fight for each other.

Thinking about how differently Ian and Mickey were raised and how their families influenced the way that they love and show that love.

How Ian's had his siblings to fall back on his entire life, while Mickey's spent most of his time as an outsider in his own home. The way Ian's affection says "I have so much love in me to give, but I love you more than anything", and Mickey's is more of "I've never really loved anyone, but you're the exception" and both are equally valid and just as intense, it's never been about who loves who more or who fell for the other first.

Also, the fact that they are so similar, yet different - they both have an aspect of duality to them, Ian being soft yet tough and Mickey being rough around the edges yet sensitive, which provides such a solid basis for their relationship, yet keeps their dynamic interesting. Ian "I would do anything to make your life better" Gallagher and Mickey "I'll fuckin' obliterate anyone who harms you" Milkovich feeling free to just be themselves while protecting one another in their own unique way.

While I'm glad that Ian grew up with a support system in which affection was openly expressed, I can't help but think about how Mickey hadn't and has probably only ever felt truly loved by Ian. How he's had to hide so many facets of himself growing up and, while he's had some beef with the Gallagher siblings, seemed more relaxed and content living in their house than he'd ever been. He may have witnessed some arguments there from time to time, but it was never truly malicious or abusive, and their shared love of Ian has always made them push their differences aside and work together when he needs their help.

This is why, even though Mickey is a fence-sitter regarding him and Ian having kids, I feel like it could potentially be beneficial to him if they decide to take the plunge. It might give him a chance to create his own tribe of people who love him and who he loves back, his little supportive unit that he's never had before. He's had such lovely character development over the years and we see him open up more in the last season especially, and the way we're left with him and Ian working on their communication gives the message that they will carve their way out in life no matter its challenges.

Don't even get me started on what a kick-ass dad I think Mickey (and Ian) would be if he were to put his whole heart into parenthood. I imagine he'd continue to let his guard down even more with their kids, to the point where they'd stare blankly at Ian when he tells them how closed-off and defensive Mickey was in their youth, not seeing him that way at all. That's not to say that, even if they never come to be, the progress within himself and their relationship won't continue to be just as valid.

So yeah, I guess my point is that even though their families shaped them in the way they love and perceive themselves to some degree, they also get a chance to filter everything out and implement only the good parts when creating their life together now, which is honestly amazing all on its own.

Mickey huffed, looking embarrassed, and threw one arm over his eyes.  "ok, but it makes like no sense.  And you can't judge me, I was sleeping on a seriously messed-up high"

"I dreamt... ok, so it was kinda like a zombie apocalypse, right?  People dying, running scared, hiding in basements, all that shit.  Except.... there were no zombies, just these Massive Muffins with legs and machetes." he peered out from under his arm, trying to gauge his husband's reaction.

"fuck off"  he muttered, seeing Ian with a hand over his mouth trying to suppress his laughter.

I wanna talk for a second about Fiona and JimmySteve, and I want to compare them to Gallavich

They have a lot of similarities:

Fiona loved him more than she'll ever love anyone, and I think Jimmy's the same. Just like Ian and Mickey.

Obviously, the whole on and off thing, since both couples had one of them leave and come back again and again.

I think with both Ian and Fiona, their partners outside of jimmy or Mickey are always characters which relate to Jimmy or Mickey. That's weirdly phrased, but I think it's more like both Ian and Fiona would be like 'oh, Mickey used to say stuff like that' or 'Jimmy kissed better'. Like their other relationships are almost a consequence or comparison of their main love.

Both couples also have a hell of a lot of chemistry.

However, they're also so very, very different.

Ian and Mickey are an example of loving someone an insane amount and, against all odds, it works.

Fiona and JimmySteve are an example of loving someone an insane amount and it not working.

Fiona and JimmySteve are a tragic trope; they'll never work. I don't think Fiona goes back to him after she leaves. I hope she finds someone else who she loves, perhaps not as much, because loving someone that much is hard and a little destructive.

Ian and Mickey are not tragic. Their storyline is, but they can't be tragic because they will always work out. They can't stay away from each other. Magnets.

There is certain completed element of Fiona and JimmySteve's goodbye, which every single Gallavich goodbye lacked. Even Mexico, when logically they both knew there was no chance of getting back together (because Mick would eventually come out of prison, ruling the season 1,2 and 6 goodbyes out), lacks a completedness. There's no goodbye, just an 'I love you - fuck you' which almost says 'I'll see you soon.'

Fiona and JimmySteve say goodbye. He tells her he loves her, much like Ian did, but she still needs something else. They could have been together, nothing was keeping them apart that time. (Aside from his compulsive lying - but this is about the couple and not about Jimmy).

They were an example of people falling in love with the wrong person. Love doesn't mean it works. They weren't right for each other, and I think that's one of the saddest things. Just because they loved each other, does not mean they can be together. Sometimes love does not conquer all.

Ian and Mickey are different. They fell in love with the right person, they almost moulded themselves to fit each other better. The reason they stayed apart so long was mostly due to circumstance - which you can argue for Fiona and JS too, but most of their problems could be solved with communication. Half the time I watched Fiona and JS, I felt like they were speaking two different languages. They couldn't understand each other, couldn't hear each other. It's really hard, I think, when you love someone so much, but you just don't fit right. They didn't love each other right.

("Why don't you go cry to your gay dad about it?" "Living in a goddamn slum" "I trust you - that means more to me" "I love you - I think I need something else now" "You need to let me go, you need to let me let you go")

I've always felt like Gallavich were on the same wavelength, they understood each other.

("You love me, and you're gay." "You're sick." "You're so much better than that." "I understand better than anyone: you're afraid of your father, you're afraid of your wife, you're afraid to be who you are." "I love you - What the hell does that even mean? - It means we take care of each other" "I love you, Mickey Milkovich, and if you'll let me, I'd like to spend the rest of my life - Jesus Christ save the fucking speech you pussy.") See, they get each other.

There's a lot to be said about their miscommunication as well, but they clearly get each other, in a way that Fiona and JimmySteve don't. It's like puzzle pieces. Ian and Mickey's pieces fit together, even if there were external forces keeping them apart. Sure, it may not be a perfect fit, but what is in humanity? There's so much beauty in imperfection. Fiona's and Jimmy Steve's pieces didn't fit. There were giant gaps where there shouldn't have been - such as JS's lying problem and Fiona's inability to feel empathy for anything he went through. Have you ever got so frustrated with a puzzle you just try and shove two pieces together so hard because you just want them together so bad? Maybe they'd look better in the puzzle if they went together. No matter how hard you try, they won't fit.

It just doesn't work, and that's so hard to accept. That sometimes, it just does not work.

I thought about this because of the sound trending on TikTok from Ocean's 11.

"Does he make you laugh?"

"He doesn't make me cry."

Anyway, rant over. Again, I'm not talking about the actions of JS or Fiona individually in this, those are whole different essays and I don't like JS enough to rewatch all his scenes and put one together for him. I think I've done one on Fiona though, but my feelings towards her are complicated. I'm talking about them as a couple.

Also, I'm not saying JimmySteve is anything like Mickey, or Fiona is like Ian.

Sorry for the deep stuff, I didn't think this would get so heavy.

Ian upset over Monica's return and running to Mickey for comfort.

Ian: pounds on Mickey's door until someone answers it.

"What the fuck?" Mickey says as he opens the door.

"I need to see you." Ian tells him while looking desperate for comfort and escape.

Mickey notices that Ian is upset and asks "I thought you were workin' today?"

"Linda's gonna have my ass. I'm supposed to be there now." Ian responds.

"I'll meet you there in twenty." Mickey tells him before shutting the door. He's actually really happy that Ian came to him while upset. He never thought that he and Gallagher would become friends who fuck or friends who care about each other. But it only took a few days for Mickey to care about Ian.

Tagged by @negrowhat to give away all my fandom secrets. I came up in the US, so most of these will be Western shows. Also be aware that I'm old and been around in fandoms for decades, some of you youths might not even recognize these ships.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?

Felicity and Noel. I was very into them (and very anti-Ben) when I was first watching this show at the tender age of 14, but then I rewatched it as an adult, realized Noel was a classic Nice Guy with some clear warning flags, and settled into Team Ben.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Hmm maybe Elizabeth Wakefield and Todd Wilkins? I think I started reading Sweet Valley High at, like, age 8. For TV, I was a sitcom kid and I was obsessed with Dwayne Wayne and his flip-up glasses as a child. I loved him and Whitley. Damn now I want to rewatch.

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

The first I read? I am pretty sure the honor goes to Buffy and Spike.

They were the first ship I remember having that classic fanfic brainrot combo of 1) captivating me entirely with their dynamic and 2) canon leaving me unsatisfied. I lost months of my life over at Elysian Fields.

In terms of the first fanfic I wrote, the honor goes to Ian and Mickey.

I was big into Shameless for its first four seasons. But then the show went way off the rails, the fandom went with it, and I quit watching and scrubbed all my fandom activity off the internet.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?

I honestly have no idea. Probably something Buffy, I was doing a lot of internet dwelling for that show.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?

Getting into discourse is my whole entire thing LOL. I have survived many, many ship wars and let me tell ya you haven't seen unhinged until you've been knee deep in the tags in a long-term fandom with multiple ships for the protagonist. One of the things I love about BL and nearly all Asian dramas is that we go into every show knowing who the main pairing is, so we don't have to fight about ships.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?

Hmm I was a big Buffy/Angel anti and that was before Spuffy was even a twinkle in my eye. I never liked that man in a romance until he got hooked up with Cordelia in his own show (but then they ruined it ugh). I was also very anti-Harry/Hermione back in the OG HP days (let characters have meaningful platonic relationships!).

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

I've been on a Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian kick of late.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?

OTPs are eternal! Like I said above, since I mostly watch Asian drama now, they're baked in. My fav of my current watches is Ten and Prem.

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

YES I AM STILL MAD ABOUT ROBIN AND BARNEY.

You show me two characters who are clearly uniquely compatible, you give me a brief taste of their extremely fun and non-traditional relationship, and then you break them up and stick her with the milquetoast Nice Guy protagonist in a total betrayal of your entire narrative premise? Fuck off forever, HIMYM, I will see you in hell.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

Hmm nothing comes to mind. If I decided to hate a pair in the past I am pretty likely to still be hating.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

I would like to see you try to cancel me!! I'll echo Eboni here and say Brian and Justin, though of course there were people who hated them because of the age gap back in ye olden times, too. Fandom spaces are mostly women and women in queer fandom spaces often struggle to account for the totally different culture and power dynamics between m/m pairings.

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

I don't really do crack ships, I am a canon pairing girlie.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

I don't know who the ultimate winner is, but I think it's probably a neck and neck competition between Spuffy and Wangxian as my most read pairing.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common?

There's actually a lot of variety in them in terms of personalities, appearance, and tropes. I think what makes me really click into a ship is the feeling that the two people are uniquely suited to each other and well matched to go through life together.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

When I don't believe they can actually make it.

Can I tell yall my new headcanon?

So I was thinking about Mickey's outfit choices throughout the seasons and I'm only recalling a handful of times he really wore a short sleeve shirt. He is usually in shirts or jackets with the sleeves cut off or tank tops and even in fall he often wears a cut off jacket over long sleeves.

So here is the headcanon: imagine little Mickey Milkovich hitting puberty and not getting much taller, not getting much harrier, not developing an interest in women. He's feeling confused and self conscious when he hits the baseball field with his bat, thinking less about hitting balls with it and more about beating the shit out of the chain link fence or something, but he stumbles upon a couple older kids playing catch and ends up hitting a few balls with them using his bat. And one of those older guys is stirring something up in Mickey he doesn't really understand, and they're having fun and swinging the bat and the guy making Mickey's stomach feel like its trying to turn itself inside out tells him:

"You got great arms Mickey!"

And maybe he even grabs his sweaty, growing bicep and squeezed playfully and now Mickey's heart is doing weird shit as well as his stomach and he's feeling like he's got to run home before someone notices. So he bolts, leaving the bat behind.

And so he cuts the sleeves off his hand me down shirts and Goodwill hoodies because a guy complimented his arms and he may not be tall or clean or nice, but he was strong. And a boy, a boy, liked that about him and maybe another boy will too.

And then Ian comes along and he never covers his arms unless its winter. You can see short sleeve tan lines on his arms so he does wear them but around Ian? Hell no, his guns are out and ready to be admired, squeezed.

Okay, if serious, I just knew about them but never interested in it and don't remember whether I watched this show before or not. But I seen all of seasons attentively only in November 2023. Then I fell into it entirely and completely.

How long have you been a fan? 3.5 months / since November 2023

Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? oh god, it's hard.. so many really awesome scenes. I want to highlight a few and maybe make a top.

Mickey Watching Over Ian [S04E07] — my s-tier, i love re-watch this scene, i love this song (and i'm so sad that it's been removed from spotify but ok whatever). It's incredibly emotional, that's all. Mickey is so protective, there are so many thoughts on his face. And this silent talk with Svetlana screams very loudly for me. I just like to think that in that moment Mickey is thinking about how much he loves Ian and how glad he is that he's finally here.

"First Time I Felt Anything Since…" [S05E10] — just one more emotional scene before disaster. Really like it and the song is good too.

The Club Kiss [S04E08] — they are so touch starved for each other's. yummy.

Love his interactions with Mickey and wish there was more. He's so sweet and silly kitty. I also had a crush on Sandy and would have liked to see more of a storyline with Debbie, but eh.

Favourite type of Gallavich fics? I'm absolutely in love for AUs! Before gallavich I didn't realize how much I loved the AUs. It's just amazing and this fandom is amazing because there are so many things I want to read, but there are sooooo many. I love multi-chaps and slowburn! Any universe, the main thing is our boys and tension between them!

Most of all I want to mention my love for texting/social media or something like that. I like it when text messages are inserted into the writing.

I prefer fluff, but I have nothing against angst, only if it is hurt/comfort. I love getting different emotions and I love crying too, but I don't like bad endings.

I told you not to indulge me on this one! I still have reblogs to reply to and now I'm gonna have to add another one to our ever growing list of AUs. This is one is on you, my friend. When we, inevitably, lose our minds, I want you to go back to this moment.

Okay, so my knowledge about Big Brother is very limited because I've only watched one season like 8 years ago (don't judge me, I was after surgery and couldn't walk for a while. It's insanely addictive though, with the whole 24/7 live stream)

But in the season I watched they had 2 random tenants (the first two that entered the house) pretend they are exes. Like the secret mission was to successfully make the other 20 people believe they are exes even though they've never met. They had 10 minutes, until the next person joins them, to come up with a story. In this they only had to keep it up for 2 days but-

In my AU - Ian and Mickey have to pretend to be together. They enter the house last, together. They get 10 minutes to come up with a convincing back story. They are told they have to keep everyone convinced for a week. Even if one person goes to the big brother and tells them that they think I&M are lying about it, they whole house loses. (the whole house participates in an activity that they believe to be the real weekly mission).

So when they both realize they are from the south side of Chicago, and are gay, they know they can pull it off. They keep the rest as close to reality as possible- Ian (25) is an EMT, Mickey (27) is a tattoo artist.

In the house they are the only ones to get a double bed and obviously they are expected to sleep together.

Will they convince everyone? will they fail the secret mission? Will they actually fall in love?

this one is a vignette style fic where it's just little scenes of mickey having to explain his life to larry and/or larry trying to help him in any way he can and mickey begrudgingly accepting it. like, it starts with larry driving mickey to the gallagher house after he gets released, and mickey has to explain to him that it's his boyfriend's house

(i'll give u a longer snippet of this one since i don't have much for the next one)

“So,” Larry pipes up just as some pop song on the car radio fades into a commercial. “It says here that…” He taps on the screen of his phone, reading something from where it sits in its little air vent clip on holder. “1955 South Trumbull is your address on file.” Larry glances over at Mickey. “Is that where we’re going today?” Larry fucking Seaver—of course he gets stuck with a goodie two shoes parole officer. Nothing could ever be easy, right? Mickey’s had parole officers before, most of them assholes, so he knows how to deal with the jerks, and the hard asses, and the fake tough guy routine he was expecting to get. Instead, he gets—whatever the fuck this guy is, and he doesn’t really know what to do with that. But that’s a thought for another time, because right now they’re passing under the L and turning into his old neighborhood, and the thought of going back to the house he was raised in makes his fucking skin crawl. “No. I don’t…” he trails off, the words dying on his tongue. He doesn’t want to go back, doesn’t want to face anyone or anything that might still be lingering between those walls, but he can’t say that. Not out loud, and definitely not to this walking pep talk of a parole officer he just met five minutes ago. “I don’t live there anymore.” “Not a problem, Mr. Milkovich—not a problem at all,” Larry reassures him, tapping his phone screen again after he comes to a stop at a red light. “I’ll just make a note in your file here… Okay! So—where to then?” Mickey hesitates. “North Wallace,” he says. “Take a left up here.” Larry lifts his hands from his phone with a small shrug, nodding to himself as he follows Mickey’s directions. “Okay.” They drive past Trumbull and Mickey doesn’t so much as turn his head to look down it. “Is this your house we’re heading to?” Larry asks, not skeptical, but… curious. Mickey sighs through his nose. “No.” “A relative?” Larry prompts, putting his blinker on and glancing over at Mickey again. “Or a friend, maybe?” And honestly, Mickey kind of hates this question, because this short answer would be yes—friend, lover, family, Ian’s been all of that to him and more for as long as Mickey can remember—but that’s not really the sort of answer Larry’s looking for, and Mickey doubts he could try and explain all that even if it was. He knows he never actually lived in the Gallagher house, not officially, not even technically, all those years ago, but right now that’s the only place Mickey wants to be. He doesn’t give two shits about the house, only cares about what’s inside—specifically, the tall redhead that still sleeps in the same twin-size bed he’s had since the fourth grade. Because the first thing most parolees do when they get out is go home, and, well—Ian Gallagher is the only real home that Mickey’s ever known. That’s a lot to reveal to a parole officer within the first hour of knowing him, Mickey thinks, but he figures he’s going to be seeing a lot of this guy, so he might as well be honest. Might as well get it all out in the open now. Mickey bites at the dry skin on his lip for a second before he finally says, “Boyfriend.” Larry doesn’t say anything. He blinks, then looks over at Mickey for a second too long. “It’s my boyfriend’s place,” Mickey says again, nails pressing into his palms as his hands curl into loose fists. “Well, his family’s. I guess.” For a moment it’s quiet, the only sounds coming from the steady flow of the air conditioning and some boyband singing on the radio. Mickey swallows. Larry taps his fingers against the steering wheel. “Huh,” Larry says mostly to himself. Then, a little louder, “Okay.” Mickey’s jaw visibly relaxes, and his shoulders drop a few inches as they pull onto North Wallace. The corner of Larry’s mouth quirks up into a grin. Mickey notices.

there's lots of other little scenes too (some i've written, some i haven't yet), like larry getting mickey the job at old army, mickey telling larry he and ian broke up--then telling him they're engaged, larry wanting to see pictures from the wedding, mickey and ian starting the weed security business and how that works with their parole, etc. etc.

but yeah. that's larry fucking seaver.

mama's boy:

this one is newer and still in an outline phase but it's not super angsty?? like it is, but it has a happy ending

it's basically a what if story, like what if: mickey's mom didn't die, she just left when they were kids. what if she's still out there somewhere, and sometime post-canon she's finally clean and sober and wondering about the kids she left behind all those years ago so she's slowly tracking them down one by one, and she shows up at apartment 218 one day to find a tall redhead answering the door that allegedly belongs to her son.

and mickey looks like he's seen a ghost, because he just assumed she fucked off and died somewhere outside of chicago, and that's why she never came back. but now she's here. in their apartment.

and she's telling him that his roommate seems nice and mickey's brain is still trying to process the fact that his mom is alive and sitting on his goddamn couch and she knows absolutely nothing about him.

so he tells her.

and it takes a while for mickey to loosen up around her, but ian is so excited for him, for both of them, because he knows what it's like to lose a mother--one that leaves--and as much as he hated monica, he loved her too, and he misses her more than he cares to admit

so he's not going to let his husband throw away a chance to have his mom in his life. not until he knows her a little bit first.

idk i just thought it was a neat idea, so. we'll see where i go with that one.

New Year's Ask Game for Fic Writers ✍✨

I decided to complete this game to help me reflect and possibly get back into writing regularly again, I was not tagged but here's a bit of self-indulgence nonetheless 😊💙

To close out 2023…

1) What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?

I've only completed and posted one fic this year/ever and about a dozen Galladrabbles, and had the most fun writing humorous dialog whenever it was sprinkled into them.

2) What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?

The mechanics of Mickey getting fucked and jerked off at the same time in Everything, followed by describing his and Ian's orgasms. I've never written erotica from a male perspective before fanfiction and had no idea how I was going to do it, but am pretty satisfied with the results.

3) What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.

Music, I make playlists for most of my WIPs. Everything had only a couple of songs, the most prominent ones being Colorblind by Counting Crows for Mickey's and I'll Be Your Lover, Too by Van Morrison for Ian's perspective. Also the poem "My God, Why Are You Crying?" by Molly Peacock, which I discovered while going through a Reddit thread about people crying during sex, doing research is sometimes inspiring in itself.

4) What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?

This little tidbit in Everything that I managed to write after coming back to what I thought was an abandoned fic five months later, capturing Mickey's conflicting feelings about making noise:

The beginning of a sob emerges and he gulps it down, flinching when he feels Ian nod encouragingly against him. Rather, he dips his head, cheek resting on the back of Ian's hand as fresh tears quietly leak from him, a rogue one snagging on Ian's wrist before sliding down. "Hey," Ian gentles, hand stirring beneath him. "Don't have to hold anything back. Can be as loud as usual." He wants to, he truly does. Pleasure builds deep within him, its sounds catching in his throat, begging to be freed. Other noises tether themselves, too, ones he'd rather not bring to fruition, and he draws in his bottom lip to keep them at bay, the stubborn desire to hand-pick them denying him the deliverance of any. Restraint coils around him and he clings to it in turn, actually praying Ian doesn't stand for it and finds a way to cut it down, his authority easier for Mickey to give in to than his own permission to be vocal.

Also, all the beautiful comments I got for the fic and all the reblog tags I got for my Galladrabbles, I always screenshot those so I can easily find and reread them whenever I need a pick-me-up 💕

And to start off 2024…

1) Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?

Just to write more without any expectations and see where it takes me, whether it's fanfic or personal stuff. Make it fun, write with abandon and focus more on the process than the final result, more on the emotions I wish the story to evoke than on the construct of things. Try to finish up most of the Gallavich WIPs I've had going on since summer of 2022, but not be afraid to drift away if something else inspires me in the moment and just write, write, write.

2) Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)

There's one domestic/fluff/angst communication-centered Gallavich fic I got the idea for and outlined not long after I joined the fandom, but thought I needed more practice before writing it that I feel ready enough to jump back into now, so that's very exciting. I also have a 13K WIP one-shot of gratuitous smut that I wrote for Kinktober 2022 that I was 90% done with, but scrapped because I used my then limited resources to complete Everything instead, and I'd love to give it a rewrite and complete it. There are ideas brewing for a Blackbonnet fic as well, but I'd rather wait and see whether we get a season 3 before delving into it, since I prefer to write post-canon. Also continue Galladrabbles, my dear 100-word morsels that are super fun to write and allow me to experiment with different themes and styles which I can later apply to other projects if I see fit.

3) What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?

I'd like to work on being less rigid in my sentence structure, play around with length/pacing in order to convey the mood better. Stop focusing on counting how many times I've used a certain word and switching it out even though it fits perfectly, not allow editing to suck the joy out of things in a way. I'd love to write more at a faster pace, too, but since severe brain fog prohibits me from writing a single coherent sentence on particularly bad days and that a 7K one-shot took me 6 months to write + 2 months to edit, I'm just content with keeping my motivation strong and spirits high while writing at whatever pace I can manage. I'd also like to experiment more with angst and see how I navigate difficult, dark, traumatic topics as well as possibly try writing in the past tense, as I'm not sure a present one is the way to go for every fic.

4) What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?

My ability to dive into a character's psyche in order to describe their feelings and reasonings in complicated situations, all the while making sure I sprinkle at least a tiny bit of humor along the way. I'd love to continue playing with themes such as healing through communication and sex and working out their kinks as a couple, both in and outside the bedroom, all in favor of emotional breakthroughs that strengthen the bond between them. If the level at which I'm able to portray a character's vulnerability matches the enthusiasm I have for exploring it, I reckon I'll stay on the right track this year.

Add in Ian being bipolar (same girl!) and the fact that Mickey Milkovich has one of the greatest character arcs I've ever seen (which is wild cause the writers never cared about Mickey, which is probably why his arc was so good)? Yeah. It'll always be them.

Matt x Elektra - "It is true that somewhere a woman named Elektra is still alive and a man named Matthew Murdock is happy." - What If? Elektra Had Lived (Vol. 1, No. 35). I love every single version of this ship and every single version of this ship will never not break my heart.

Team x Win - I watched Until We Meet Again three days after my last time making a Real Bad Decision, so I was doing really bad and couldn't even leave my bedroom (the scene of the crime), but then these two came out of fucking nowhere with their 30 minutes of screentime and I fell completely in love. They were a short and sweet break from the heaviness of my mind and from the heaviness of the show. They still have my whole heart.

First Ship Ever:

Most likely Eric/Jack from Boy Meets World. You couldn't and still can't tell me shit about them. But if they don't count since I didn't know about the concept of shipping back then, it would probably be Pacey/Joey from Dawson's Creek.

As a wee one, it was probably a Magic Tree House book. But the first book I remember loving was The Long Walk by Stephen King (well, Richard Bachman). I read it for the first time at like 15 and it just broke my heart. It's still my favorite to this day. And 15 is still a child, so I think it counts!

Currently Reading:

Assorted fics. I don't really read books unless I can read it all in one sitting, so that's hard sometimes cause I don't always have five hours to sit uninterrupted. And then sometimes when I do, I just don't wanna read.

Second chapter of 'motherhood and what comes of it'!!

Here's a preview:

“What about you and Laura?” Ian prods. 

“I don’t know. I know she loved me. Or - I mean… she told me she did. Never really saw it though. But at least she said it, right? Terry never bothered to say it.” He puffs out a dejected laugh as he mumbles towards the bed sheets. 

Ian continues his movements on Mickey’s leg. When it’s clear he’s not going to continue, Ian wraps his arm around Mickey’s shoulders. He allows the contact, but doesn’t lean into it. 

“You know… You don’t have to call her. If you don’t want to. You deserve people that love you. And show it.” Ian tells him, because he knows Mickey still doesn’t quite get that he deserves good things, good people, a good life. 

Instead of fully taking it seriously, Mickey looks up at Ian, smirking. “Like you?” 

“Yes. Like me.” He replies earnestly.

I'm planning a third chapter, but this story is hard to write because there are so many dynamics and stuff to navigate, as you can probably see from it taking like a month to write the second one.

I also have a lot of stuff to balance at the moment with work, work experience, uni essays so I really won't be as active. It should calm down by May, so I'll be able to write more often then.
