I recently finished Netflix ATLA and I have several thoughts that I’ll probably share later. But I just saw that they have decided to not make Toph blind because they didn’t want to be “offensive towards blind people. Toph's self-deprecating humor may play a little differently in live action, so we opted to remove her disability entirely”. I am not blind so I obviously cannot decide if her depiction is offensive or not. For those of you that are or are close with someone who is and has enjoyed (or not enjoyed) the show, how do you feel about this? It feels like a disservice to her character, but also if her character is doing more harm than good changes should definitely be made

this doesnt seem like a popular opinion on here but sometimes i like when characters die. sometimes its needed to raise the stakes and sometimes its the end best befitting of the character and sometimes its needed to move the narrative forward and sometimes its the only way a character would believably leave their story behind and sometimes it just spices things up a bit. sometimes its fun to watch characters die . sorry
