If there is one thing I have learned through my years of fandom, there are certain things the Reader should NEVER underestimate:

The simple beauty of Jack Kirby’s work,

The ability of Bull Sienkiewich to dazzle the reader with the brilliance of his art

Anything written by Denny O’Neil, Len Wein, Roy Thomas or Marv Wolfman

Add to this list:

4. The twists and turns in the imagination of James Tynion IV.

This brings us to his latest story, the Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos, a title which in and of itself twists my age-enfeebled mind.

Christopher Chaos is an enigma, wrapped in a dimensional rip, trapped in a Schrodinger’s Box. He sees things that may or may not exist, envisions multiple levels of solutions to mathematical equations (during English Class), has auditory and visual hallucinations which might not be hallucinations… Is he certifiable, or truly experiencing everything he is seeing?

A great deal of story is crammed into the first issue, introducing Chris, his parents, his crush Hayden (who might be a werewolf), the Men in White, and Chris’ penchant desire to be Herbert West…

Strangely, none of it feels rushed. Everything flows at a good tempo, the dialogue is interesting and at times downright fun. Chris’s conversation with Peggy is both beautiful and poignant, an exposition of pain and self-realization leading the Reader to see the character as either a tortured soul, or a friend of the Pigeon Lady in Battery Park.

The team of Tynion, Brombal, and Goodhart have brought created a character and world full of such potential, it is only a matter of time until everyone is flocking to it!

Paul Dini.

I think Zee works best when she is depicted as a performer with a flair for showmanship.

Also I think Ryan Cady (writer) and Isaac Goodhart (artist) who wrote her story in DC New Talemt Showcase 2018 also did a great job of capturing this aspect of her character.
