3. What fandoms do you write for? I used to write for the Good Omens and Johannes Cabal fandoms, but recently I've been writing only for JSHK. Originally my jshk account was going to be just an alt but at this point the brainrot is so ingrained that my og account is just gathering dust now lmao

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? I try my best to do so! I love getting comments and I always get excited when an author responds to my comments, so I try to respond to as many as I can. Sometimes, though, there isn't much to say in response, or I just get anxious--so there are some that I leave alone.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmmmm. Much to think about. I think it's a tie between Full Course and Gossamer, My Gown. Probably Gossamer is angstier in general, but Full Course has more gore. But it's hard to pick because in my mind...despite the angst in the stories, they're both...happy (ish?) endings lmao. Bittersweet at the very least. Things turn out. Don't worry about it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? More Trouble!! Definitely More Trouble. It's sickeningly sweet. Absolutely tooth-rotting lmao. I love it. They suffer so much in canon I just had to give them a well-deserved break.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not yet 👀. Maybe someday I'll write something that earns me the 'fandom disgrace' badge. But as of now, I've been relatively lucky and things have been quiet.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do! I love writing smut, I think it's really fun lmao. The stuff I've published tends to be on the sweeter side (very 'overwhelmed with lust and adoration / going braindead with love / fucking as an exploration of character vulnerability and earnestness') but I like to branch out now and again.

10. Do you write crossovers? I tend not to. I like to write AUs, sure. But straight-up crossovers aren't really my jam.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nah. I've had someone make a podfic of one of mine, but no translations :3

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Once or twice. Nothing published, though.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I'm a Hananene/Amanene whore. I'm obsessed with them. The babies. The lovelies. The sweethearts. The idiots. So tragic. So sweet. My favorite goobers ever ♡♡♡

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? [sweats] nobody look in my WIP folder lmao. I'm hopeful that I'll get to most of them eventually, but the ones on the farthest burner are an alternate endgame for Hananene, and a Night Circus AU.

16. What are your writing strengths? I'm good with imagery and metaphor, I think. It comes from my background in poetry :3c

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plotting. Definitely plotting. I'm more of a gardener than an outliner, so if a fic is long and has actual. like. Plot? I can really struggle to get my feet under me.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think it's fine in moderation. If you're conveying actual important information, I think it's best to write it in whatever language you're writing in, so people don't have to translate for themselves. But if you're just using it for spice or to center a piece in a certain area or culture, then I think it's fine. Just make sure you're actually saying what you think you're saying. Don't like...half-ass a translation or anything lmao.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Johannes Cabal! I love him so much I highly recommend the books, they're some of my absolute favorites :3c One grumpy German necromancer against the world! ♡

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Of course, I'm so so proud of More Trouble, and I loved writing it. But I'm also really proud of Something Borrowed, and I'm very proud of Full Course. Out of all of them, I'd have to say Full Course.

New(ish) Comics:

Batman #131-132: I'm glad I delayed starting this by an issue just to get a bigger chunk of the story.

Bruce is having a bad time travelling universes and seeing echoes of his home. And look, I am also team 'Bruce refuses to understand cooking' but on the other hand he cooked...scrambled eggs. And not only is that very straightforward BUT the first meal Dick ever cooked for Tim was a plate of scrambled eggs too, and TIM was impressed, so part of me wants this neverbeforeseen cooking ability of Bruce's be the ONE meal he can make (maybe he learned from Alfred alongside Dick).

Personally though, I'm mostly laughing at Tim's frustration. I'm very thankful that Dick is on Tim's side about Bruce being alive and just missing, given their past, but it's also hilarious to me that Dick and Tim are still playing out their standard behaviour when something's wrong with Bruce: Dick goes 'Bruce is a grown up, he can cope, you don't need to save him from himself' while Tim goes charging straight in as emotional regulation buddy and rescuer. And this is why Tim's still Robin, because nobody else is willing to do this.

The Flash #792: Look this might actually be my peak issue of One Minute War as it was pretty much just Bart and Ace racing around together. Goodness I love their dynamic. Yeah yeah other things happened but the moment Bart was like “well that’s easy I just won’t think! Only react!” and I was like Look! It’s Bart doing his thing! And Ace follows him.

Warlord #10: Time for Warlord! Mariah remains the longest suffering character in this entire book. Cmon tell the men more about communism, Mariah, they’re not listening to any of your perfectly reasonable comments or suggestions anyway.

We have once again found some time for a character to be tied to a cross (sadly not Trevor, Grell you’re slipping!) and Trevor rescues another fair maiden because that’s just his way. Also, a tentacle monster! Apparently it only wants to eat Our Heroes alive, though we do get some tentacle bondage scenes (fine Grell, I see you spent your Trevor bondage page count on this instead, though you HAVE spent 1/3 of an entire issue with him tied up before)

Also.. oh no Deimos returns next week!

TASFS Miiverse Edition Guide WIP

The Adventures of Stickfigure Sam originally started on Miiverse! Here is the original series!

When Miiverse died, so did this timeline. Hopefully I'll come up with another way to share this idea of a series.

As all of these were drawn on a 3DS, the quality of some of these drawings might not be perfect. And figuring that they were made over a long-ish amount of time, I spent a bunch of that time experimenting and developing the style. So the quality will vary. Though it will get overall better as it goes on.

A young stickfigure named Sam finds a sword in a bubble and "rescues" a powerful sprite named BB. Join Sam on his very first so called "adventure". Will he have more adventures? Or will the end of a platform end it all?

Chapter 1: The Awkward Beginning (Parts 1-10)

The beginning of Sam's adventure! During these parts, the formatting is squeezed into tiny sections. Also don't judge my humor in this section too hard! I was just a kid when I made it.

Chapter 2: Returning Home (Parts 11-24)

Sam needs to find his way back home. But it's grown way too dark! And Sam is pretty lost. Maybe BB can help him find the way?

Wait. What is BB exactly? And... Why was Sam out in the woods, anyway?

im struggling to understand why people are saying this chapter feels rushed? Like I get that events kind of played out quickly I suppose, and they managed to "kill" Eren within one chapter (i say "kill" bc i dont believe hes actually dead, that feels too good to be true), but, have people forgotten that this 'final boss battle' against eren wasnt just for this chapter? It's been going since the start of the rumbling which started in chapter 130/131(ish)...

So, in the span of things this blow eren received in today's chapter has been in the works for the last few chapters... if you take that into account then i dont think it's been rushed at all, in fact it all seems amazingly paced.

but again I could just be misunderstanding why people think its rushed idk LMAO

tae would often be found with a bit of a smirk on his lips, more so when he was in the process of taking some ... spicy pictures. he wasn’t worried about anyone seeing it considering he was in the bathroom, door locked as he snapped a quick little nude. a fresh one, and obvious by the way his shirt matched currently. he had propped his left thigh and ass up on the counter, body turned in such a way that worked best for him to show off his curves - which was very much on display seeing as he had eagerly pushed his pants down for this. and then? he was sending it to jaemin, who was currently still at the table. that little smirk only grew as he did, adding one of his favorite emojis and a message.

     at this point it was becoming a little bit of an obsession, wasn’t it? not that he fully realized at first, until right now. he had been early, as always, and apparently waiting for the others arrival. time had ticked by and eventually ares realized everyone but seunggi was coming through the door. one minute late. then two - then three? not that they were late, class didn’t start for five more minutes but still. so yeah - that’s when he realized he was waiting. and to make it worse he was pretty sure he visibly perked up when he finally laid eyes on the guy in question. thank god, everyone else was so boring to listen in on. or, again, maybe he was just crushing.

bee was more than shocked, surprised - he couldn’t shake the feeling, or the expression, as he looked at logan. what did he even do here? he knew how his friend was, and the last thing he was trying to do here was end up pushing him away or something. still, he couldn’t make his mouth shut or his eyes leave logan. how did that just slip? he was sure there was an excuse somewhere, and no doubt would be found in due time - but for now? “wait - logan.” of course he was following after him, after giving a rushed goodbye to the other people. “stop, wait a second.”

turns out ares had lied again - he dragged seunggi out of bed before the sun even came up. and did he feel bad about it? no, not at all. actually he felt great, like he could move mountains. crazy what happens when you’re not starving to death ( so to speak ). he had put seunggi in the passenger seat, handed him a coffee - even managed to hand over a baggie with a chocolate croissant in case he was hungry. all with a happy little smile on his lips, because he knew what was coming. thirty-ish minutes into the drive and he had the audacity to ask a question. “will you close your eyes?”

while the inside ( and outside ) of ares’ home was modern, it was littered with all sorts of little trinkets and antiques. from before he was turned to two years ago, everywhere he went he seemed to get something. and well - that added up, to the point the finished basement looked practically like the inside antique shop. “some of this stuff is older than me.” was mused as he flicked the light on and lead seunggi down the stairs, shelves and bookcases coming into view. it was organized, though that didn’t mean he knew where things were. “what were we going to look for? pictures?” he glanced over his shoulder for conformation. while there were pictures out and hung up, not all of them saw the light of day.

sorry to everyone who’s not a truly devious fan but “cowboy like me” is about Francis Crane and Edward Pierce Davenport from book two

will this be a lyric by lyric (ish) analysis about two characters I don’t even care about much? maybe. this whole thing is a giant reach about characters we don’t know much about so im gonna assume a bunch of stuff k thanks. I deleted the repeats of verses btw

So, tennis court=rich stuff, and it’s covered up meaning it’s probably night outside anyway. I could see them meeting there, they were always only meeting in the middle of the night anyway. And god i can just imagine Francis being like “dancing is a dangerous game” when Edward was just trying to dance with her

Oh, I thought This is gonna be one of those things Now I know I'm never gonna love again When they first met, Francis was surrounded by rich boys or not so rich boys who probably just wanted her money + status. But when she met Edward, the book says “Edward Pierce Davenport was the first and only person Francis had any respect for...Eddie had made it his life’s mission to disappoint his family” (Johnson 33). She clearly didn’t have high expectations, but she respected Eddie and he was the “only person” she respected. Hence, she knows she’s never gonna love again like she did w Eddie. I've got some tricks up my sleeve Takes one to know one You're a cowboy like me

Francis has been dealing w these people her whole life. She knows that they’re all rich and just trying to impress Albert Ellingham or whoever else was the most important person in the room. Edward clearly knew, too. They were both part of this society their whole lives. They didn’t like it, but they enjoyed the benefits. So they didn’t leave (except sort of Eddie later? I mean he was still rich, he just lost his mind). But they even dressed up as Bonnie and Clyde (Johnson 413), I mean. ( I just feel like Edward would say “you’re a cowboy like me” and Francis would scoff but she would secretly enjoy it. And the tricks up her sleeve? They wrote the whole letter together. And it says, “Francis told Eddie about bomb-making and erad him the stories of Bonnie and Clyde and John Dillinger and Ma Barker. Eddie embraced them at once” (Johnson 34). Never wanted love Just a fancy car Now I'm waiting by the phone Like I'm sitting in an airport bar

She didn’t care about love or marriage until now. We can assume that from her general demeanor and also when she got mad when Ellingham said “Your father would murder me if I made you too dangerous too marry” (Johnson 131). She never really cared about her eventual suitor, she just enjoyed being rich. And then the other two don’t exactly work because of the setting and time period, but we know that Francis most likely had to wait for Eddie at some point when she didn’t think she would or something. Tbh, perched in the dark/telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear could be seen as separate things. So, I will see them as that. They seem to meet at night a lot to sneak out because they like to sneak. Francis at least, not Eddie, but Francis appeals to the rich people, y’know. She goes to the school, she seems good but not really. And, since Francis went to France at around the same time Eddie did, they deffo tricked some rich people there. Francis and Eddie made their way forward to France to trick people and continue making their plans. They’re “bandits” together and probably continued to do. I don’t think Francis ever married, but she had a daughter (who I STILL think was Ellie’s mom or grandmother, but that’s a different post). Hustling for the good life, never thought I’d meet you there. THeir idea of a good life, is just schemes. They’ve been planning ones since school. “Over that fall and that cold winter, they began their study into the art of crime At the right time, they would take one of Ellingham’s cars, fill it with dynamite and leave...On a clear day, when no one was looking, they would go drive west and rob banks” (Johnson 34). We know Francis had a child in France, assumably with Eddit, and she was the way forward since eventually Ellie went to Ellingham and it did change stuff. And once again, she would pay for it. The letter. They both wrote it and sent it because of Ellingham and it turned into part of one of the biggest cases ever, when it didn’t actually have much to do with the actual crime. They plotted hard to yknow, ruin Ellingham’s life or at least cause him discomfort. They wanted him to suffer and be sad because of Francis’ personal vendetta against him. The old men she’s swindled? Taking this in a different way. She’s tricked all the men in her life that she will marry and be a good wife, etc. but also she wants are schemes. They believed that she would carry on the Crane legacy. And we know Eddie is wild, and the ladies stories, but for context, “Davenport was best known for...his rechless lifestyle. He committed suicide in Paris on Jne 15, 1940....Edward Pierce Davenport spent the day consuming opium and violet champagne. At sunset, as loudspeakers in the street announced the night’s curfew, he donned a gold  dressing gown and climbed to the rooftop of his Parisian apartment...After toasting the city, and the setting sun, he downed a last glass of champagne and swan-dived from the building into the street below” (Johnson 100-101).   Now you hang from my lips Like the Gardens of Babylon With your boots beneath my bed Forever is the sweetest con I mean, I guess the first three are just self explanatory? They had the satisfaction of knowing it would never be tracked back to them or at least almost.

Scheming and poetry, they’re both schemers. Cowboys like each other but they just try to be like that because they dislike the rich lifestyle. Francis will never love or respect someone like Eddie ever.

OPM Manga Chapter 131:  Won’t Lose

Story:  You Can’t Keep A Good Hero Down

No need to ask: this chapter is not about the showdown between Tatsumaki and Psykos-Orochi.  In fact, it’s not immediately about fighting at all.  It’s about the other thing One-Punch Man does so well -- look across its very large cast and develop who they are.

Within the universe, the last few days have been crazy.  Three days ago, Saitama went to visit Mumen Rider after the latter was beaten up by the then-unknown Garou and life was normal if you didn’t keep up on hero affairs.  Two days ago, the Monster Association announced its presence by launching synchronised attacks on multiple cities and then following up with an ultimatum delivered in blood to the Hero Association.  Yesterday, the newspapers were full of the Monster Association’s attack on the Hero Association and City S was imperiled by a crazy-huge monster.  And today! Today!  City Z is in shambles as a giant tower, topped with a giant glowing monster, is hauled up through it.  It’s visible for miles around.

Four days from ‘normal’ to ‘just pray’

If to the general public the warm-up act to the Apocalypse seems to be tuning up for a performance, then to the heroes injured in the events of the last few days, it is an insult.  One they’re not prepared to ignore.   The action in the first half is centred in the Hero Hospital in City S, which is close enough to City Z that both Garou and Saitama had no trouble getting there for a meal.  Close enough in fact that Metal Bat could see the tower from a vantage point.

We go from hero to hero answering that call.  First, Metal Bat!  He gives Zenko the slip and gallops off in the direction of the obscenity.   We then follow up to see that Mumen Rider has come to a similar conclusion and has slipped out to cycle off to the stricken city.  Tank Top Master joins him, the two making an unlikely, but most wholesome equipage.

Onward!

I thought that the Way of the Tank Top sounded a bit cultish, boy howdy are they!  I want more of them. It’s interesting to see the Tank Toppers debate what to do before resolving to follow after their master.  Not to be outdone, the Blizzard Group stops moping and runs off after them.  Finally, we see Snek, Lightning Max and Heavy Kong jump up and go too.  Heroes may be prepared to work alone, but being outdone by another just won’t do!

Suiryu putting RESPECT on Snek and Lightning Max, perfect. Saitama may have beaten the monsters, but it was they who came forward when none of his fellow martial artists would.  He points out this unwelcome fact to his fellow martial artists, both persuading them to let the professionals handle it and at last, clearly stating what his new goal in life is.

The action then switches to the other scene of human(ish) interaction: deep under the Monster Association, where Saitama is groping in the dark for any way out.

Fractured Broken Bone, um I mean Flashy Flash, keeping his cool whatever his predicament

Saitama, Flashy Flash and the monster who now has a name (Monako) has got to be some of the best comic relief ever.  Flashy Flash is too proud to admit that he’s trapped and doesn’t want to risk breaking his sword in trying to extricate himself.  Saitama’s ongoing misfortune with his head.  Monako turning out to be the only one with two braincells to rub together in solving the problem of how to get Flashy Flash out.  It’s all too good.

I’m not afraid for them -- I know they’ll be fine and it’s just a matter of when they join the fray that’s about to erupt far above them.

The Revolution Will Be Televised

The changes from the webcomic continue to make themselves manifest.  The manner of the showdown between hero and monster will have consequences that are going to shake society. This isn't a tiny scuffle in the middle of the night in a deserted part of town, like it was in the webcomic. Yup, there's still daylight, there's not just a huge tower, but a giant glowing monster on top of it a fight that people knew would be happening, thanks to media leaks and it follows on from a massive monster attack two days ago.   Win or lose, the Hero Association and its actions are going to be under scrutiny as never before.

We don’t need the webcomic to know that despite the very heartening rally of heroes to the scene, this night is unlikely to cover the HA in glory.

Heroes are Special

Honestly, Suiryu encapsulates best what it is about a hero that makes them special: the spirit with which they push themselves to help no matter the circumstances.  The strength is secondary.

And to see that he’s specifically watching Snek and Lightning Max, ahh, my heart, my heart couldn’t take it.

All these serious heroes bravely struggling forward despite their wounds, giving up safe beds for others, shaving at their well-beings for the sakes of others. They have their quirks and flaws, their professional jealousies but at the end of the day, as long as they can move, they're out to do what they can.   That value is the thread that unites all heroes, however rowdy or calm, strong or weak, pleasant or difficult they are.

What are they hoping to achieve?  Most of them aren’t going to fight: they’re not deluding themselves that they can in their current conditions.  They’re there to do the other thing that heroes do, help despite the toughest of conditions. There are people who need freeing from rubble, maybe a few fugitive monsters to be eliminated, routes to clear for emergency staff, and hold a perimeter around the battlefield.  Tank Top Master lifting rubble will mean that people whom it would have taken hours (or days) for a crew with heavy equipment to reach will get help in minutes. His having the humility to commit to retraining and restrict himself to helping is amazing.  

The only hero who is definitely out to fight is Metal Bat.  So much for wondering what difference his participation would have made, we’re about to find out!  Which means, unfortunately, finding out what he can’t do.

If we ever needed reminding that the people who make it as pro-hereos are good, this is it. It's really going to make for a painful contrast with what we see of the Neo Heroes.

That said, I think I can see some potential for the growth of the tension we observed in the webcomic between B-Class and lower heroes and the top heroes. If they can avoid being dragged into the fight, the Blizzard Group and Tank Toppers will help hundreds, if not thousands, of people.  This night will cement in peoples’ minds that it’s the lower-class heroes who are accessible to them when they’re in need. It really will put pressure on the Hero Association to provide them with better equipment, access to training, and pure appreciation, the things they currently reserve for the A- and S-Class heroes.

At long last, much overdue, Murata draws a female monster that doesn’t have pointless tits hanging improbably out.   Much love to Manako, whose survival we hope in.

no, this is the funniest sequence: Saitama embarrassed at misgendering a monster. It’s both incongruous and wholesome.

Chapter 131 - Oh Yeon Joo and Kang Chul Have A Future (1560 words)

On Monday morning, Seok Bum stuck his head into the office and said, "Oh, hey Yeon Joo. Been a bit since I saw you here."

He sat at his desk, and started to write an e-mail, then stopped and peered at her.

"Are you...humming? Did something good happen?"

And Yeon Joo knew she was blushing, but she wasn't ashamed to say, "Yes. My beautiful friend from out of town that you didn't like hanging around Soo Bong is here now.

"Oh, congratulations!" He went back to typing for a minute.

After sending his e-mail though, he rolled his chair over to her and put an arm around her shoulders.

"Really, I'm so relieved to see you happy. We should all go get dinner sometime. I don't resent him anymore, I promise." After a pause he said, "Wait, how did you know I disliked him hanging around Soo Bong?"

"Soo Bong thought it was really funny, at the time."

Seok Bum made a disgusted noise, and wheeled himself back to his own computer. Soon after this, their productivity was again cut short by the appearance of Mad Park.

"Oh Yeon Joo, I saw a file today that made me think of your father. It's another six months before he comes in for his check-in, so I thought I'd see if you were here. How's he doing?"

"He's doing well. Did you see the release about the animated adaptation?" she added with a false air of innocence.

"That studio has produced nothing but saccharine love story comics! Absolutely not!"

"You know the rights have been picked up before, you only have to worry if it goes into production."

"No, no, no. What we need is a gritty drama, a procedural, and scrap the last volume or two. Maybe starring Won Bin!"

"Speaking of the last volume or two, Oh Yeon Joo's boyfriend who looks like Kang Chul is back," said Seok Bum, forever sowing the seeds of chaos. "That's why she's looking so well today."

Unexpectedly, Supervisor Park gave her a close look, and said, "Well, I'm glad to hear that. You've had a tough time. What's his name?"

"Kang Chul."

"Funny," said Mad Park. "Just as well."

"Why is it just as well?" Seok Bum asked. "Was there someone else you had in mind? That guy I saw MK yelling at the other day?"

"I don't want to talk about that," said Mad Park. "My spirit is broken. And I blame you as much as your father, Oh Yeon Joo!"

He walked away.

"What were you saying about MK?"

"Oh, one of Barking Mad's friends was here, but he was having an argument with MK. I think you got set up with him once. Tall guy, handsome-ish. Apparently up to MK's weight in a fight, which is really something."

Yeon Joo wasn't sure how to think about that. Clearly she needed to catch up with MK soon. She made a mental note to text her--later.

Mad Park stuck his head back in to say, "And that epilogue did not cut it by half! The script has to be by someone who will get it on track. I did like the twist with So Hee, but I hope your father read my comments about the final love-line."

"I assure you he did not," said Yeon Joo waving him away.

They were laying skin-to-skin, not ready to fall asleep when Chul summoned the courage to ask, "When did you first think that this might really work? Not closing W's narrative--us together."

He felt her take a breath to speak, ribs pressing a little deeper against his.

"That's a kind of complicated answer. But when you came here and were so appreciative of Soo Bong letting you stay with him, though it was not a great apartment or situation? I was relieved, because you seemed to be able to deal with real world inconveniences with grace."

"But that was nothing," he protested.

"The fact that you thought so meant a lot to me," she said, fingers gently brushing his collarbone. "I didn't know how much your privilege in W would form you."

"Ah, I see. My memories of my childhood are of a very normal home, though."

"What about you? You must be asking because you've been considering it."

"It was a process for me, too. But I have to say when you asked me firmly to let you finish eating, after sneaking into So Hee's apartment, I had this sense that I was experiencing something new and important."

She chuckled. "Yes, someone who wasn't an actual side character."

"Not just that. Even here, people look at me a certain way because of how I look. Or the expertise I have, or whatever. But you looked past that. You can see me, under the all-caps KANG CHUL of my origin."

"I'd already had a chance to become a little resistant to your face," she said, still amused.

"When we met again, after I'd gone into hiding, I understood why you were so devastated every time you met me. But you had still risked your life to help me, and you continued to do your best for me. Even being gentle when I fell in love with you, though it was such a hard thing for you to deal with."

"Was I kind?" she mused.

"Yes," he said firmly. "Because you didn't run away. You were honest with me."

"Looks like it all paid off on my end."

He accepted that she was not going to see herself as a hero in any way, and didn't protest again. It was enough that he'd let her know.

"In case you're tempted to cast yourself in the light of the sole beneficiary," she said after a moment, "what we went through together, all this time, gave me a fresh start. When I saved your life I was on hiatus from medicine and not sure I'd ever go back to it. I didn't remember creating a character that then became so popular, and I didn't know what I was capable of in hard circumstances. This story saved me, too."

"Then it's worth it, and I'm glad," Chul said.

His love in his arms, he listened to the erratic pulse of cars and city life, real and alive.

End Notes, from Park Soo Bong:

When I first set out to write the story of Kang Chul and Oh Yeon Joo, I planned to set the record straight. I realized eventually that even with first-hand accounts and raw material to draw from, I was creating yet another version of the truth. It was a little bit more story than real in some parts, because it made a great narrative. I hope you enjoyed the story you read, and it answers a few questions you might have had.

And now, since it is a story, just like W the comic I'll leave you with the fitting conclusion:

EPILOGUE

Understandably, all those involved in creating W felt wary of continuing work in manhwa after this and moved into different fields.

Park Soo Bong worked as a consultant on new comics under Editor Kim until he sold his first novel. Acclaimed as psychological horror with vivid settings and relatable characters, it sold well, and he is known a prolific writer with a knack for subverting expectations, sometimes with surrealist twists.

Oh Seung Moo's retirement from comics was considered dubious by the general public after the several false ends of his webtoon, but he never released any more material. He created a blog where he reviewed comics which enjoys a modest readership. His die-hard fans loved it while his detractors noted he seemed more focused on aesthetics than substantive writing. Nevertheless, his words of appreciation have encouraged many a new creator in a tough business.

Kang Chul got the job at the publishing house that sold his manhwa using an assumed name. He did well in management and eventually started his own division specializing in true crime and cold case books. He did particularly well interfacing with television companies, and a contract with his imprint was considered a foot in the door for adaptation. After getting more established, he also founded a prize in literature for investigative writing, with a clear mission to vindicate the falsely accused or expose those who escaped justice.

Oh Yeon Joo continued to work in diagnostics and post-surgery support rather than operations at Myung Se until Barking Mad Park recommended her to a colleague at the university who was doing a paper on traumatic impact of emergency surgery on hospital workers. Discovering this field of inquiry was a light-bulb moment. She studied counseling, became licensed, and specializes in medical trauma for both patients and medical personnel.

A year after registering their marriage, Oh Yeon Joo and Kang Chul had a small wedding at which both her parents, Mad Park, MK, Park Soo Bong and Kang Seok Bum were present. There were no arguments or gunshots or even tears, barring Yeon Joo's mother's slight emotional moment saying goodbye to the couple on their way back home. (She tentatively likes Kang Chul, mainly because Yeon Joo is happier now, and partly because her daughter isn't getting any younger.)

And while they still live today, in our world, they are all very happy to have made it to The End.

Every Episode of WTNV with Carlos Mentioned

No, I did not keep track of how long I spent on this. Anyway.

Total series count: 89 episodes

In the main podcast, anyway. The list includes at least partial context; however I wasn't counting the number of times Carlos was mentioned per episode, just if he was mentioned at all. So if he came up more than once I didn't necessarily record each time. Still, there are definitely spoilers.

I can't like… guarantee that I didn't miss something, unfortunately. However, I used both "Carlos" and "scientist" all the time, and I additionally used "boyfriend" from 26 onward and "husband" after 100. So it should be pretty close, at least. 

I might go through and do live shows later. However, the answer for them is (almost) always yes, as most of them at least have a segment that Dylan Marron performs at some shows, so it'd be more a matter of checking for mentions of Carlos outside of that.

The reason I did this was to see if I was at all correct in my sense that Carlos has been mentioned less over time. My conclusion: well… sort of?

There actually was less of him than I thought in both year 1 and year 2 (year 1 in particular). However, years 3 and 4 had a LOT of him, and it has gone down from there through the end of year 7, when Carlos was only mentioned in 7 episodes total, with very few casual mentions by Cecil (vs when he had a particular role in what was going on). 

So the problem (or at least, I consider it one) hasn't been going on for as long as I thought in the grand scheme of the series. I now believe that a significant part of the issue is just… Well, it has at this point been almost three years since that decline. Plus listening live makes everything feel drawn out, so there's a lot of perceived time in between individual mentions. 

That being said, I think the actual conclusion is: it's maybe not as I thought, but I also wasn't completely imagining it, especially not looking at very recent events. We don't know what this year will hold, but year 7, as mentioned above, had the least of Carlos in it so far. There are also some significant gaps - Cecil mentions Carlos in episode 91, and after that the next time he comes up in year 5 is in 100 (!!!!)

He is mentioned in a solid majority of the series, but it's pretty front-loaded at this point. Also he has a few appearances in the first novel, and he's a central character in It Devours!

You guys have been really sweet about my really dorky Ruby Redfort posts recently so I thought I’d put in some work and get as much information as I can about everyone’s favourite code cracking, messy, doughnut eating Spectrum worker!

(Note: I am missing books 2 & 3 because I refuse to buy anything but hardback RR books, and there are other requirements because I’m a picky girl... so could someone else check those???)

Anyway, let’s begin today’s episode of Information about Blacker! Spoilers, maybe? Err on the side of caution!

Look Into My Eyes:

Blacker is a terrible dresser, doesn’t brush his hair and apparently doesn’t own a mirror. We stan one relatable king!

“He was a dishevelled looking man and his badge was upside down and his hair didn’t look like it had been combed since Christmas” [pages 149-150]

Ruby notes that he has a nice voice and is visibly friendly.

“He had a nice voice though. It had warmth - she could tell this from just a few words.” [page 150]

He drinks? so I’d assume he is not Muslim, Mormon, Baptist or Sikh. Although he could just be the child of people from any of those religions, and not be religious himself, so so much for figuring out his personal background or possible ethnicity.

“‘We (Blacker and Lopez) got a drink at Blinky’s bar’” [page 176]

He owns a car!

“‘at around four I dropped her off at that fancy salon off of Twinford Square’” [page 176]

He gave Ruby a key code to access the office in Trashford, indicating he trusts her a large amount.

“‘Well, it’s not technically a break-in. I have the key code, Blacker gave it to me’” [page 257]

Despite his long term belief that he has never ever met the Count, Blacker actually has - he met him when the Count was disguised as Klaus Gustav. Also he may be able to pilot a plane, if Hitch is being literal:

“‘Please tell me Klaus Gustav is safely in Twinford?’ said LB. (Hitch replied) ‘He is - Blacker flew him in yesterday.’” [page 329]

Feel The Fear

Blacker is the first person to suggest that there is a mole in Spectrum in the breiefing with Dixie Deneuve. He’s not one to blindly believe in Spectrum, no matter what Ruby’s paranoid brain tells her.

“‘Is it possible that the prototype has been taken by a person on the Spectrum team?’ asked Blacker.” [page 202]

He eats food that goes well with soy sauce and is an implied messy eater, indicating a varied palate beyond jelly donuts. Maybe eats East Asian food a lot because he’s from there?

“Ruby found (Blacker) wiping soy sauce off his jacket.” [page 217]

He has a good-ish working relationship with Miles Froghorn and is the only known person who gets along with Miles, referring to him by his first name.

“Blacker looked at Froghorn. ‘Come on Miles, Rube is actually asking a fair question.’” [page 218]

He’s a known diplomat, and knows how to get people to like him. Also, note he’s able to get one of those rare near-smiles off Froghorn!

“Froghorn stood up, very nearly smiled at Blacker, and without speaking another work exited the canteen. That was the other thing you couldn’t but admire Blacker - he was a diplomat.” [page 219]

He is not one for keeping clean. Vaguely unhygienic, but we’ll let it go, because he’s just that wonderful.

“He (Blacker) winked and wiped his hands on his jacket. He caught Ruby’s eyes and shrugged, ‘Ah, it needs washing anyway.’” [page 223]

Blacker is the one to have dubbed Mile’s office, room 324, the ‘Frog Pod’. It doesn’t seem mean spirited though, so maybe he’s allowed to make a little fun out of Froghorn because they’re buddies. Or whatever it is they have going on?

“As usual, Froghorn was in room 324 (the Frog Pod, as Blacker called it).” [page 274]

He openly admits to having messy living quarters and perhaps implies that he lives in an apartment.

“Blacker shrugged. ‘Could be the owner of the apartment is away or if he is anything like me then he wouldn’t notice a break-in - I’m telling you my place is real chaotic.’” [page 277]

He uses a transmitter watch, which is probably Spectrum issue, to communicate with other agents such as Buzz and Froghorn.

“He pressed the transmitter button on his watch, no answer, so he tried again and this time the call connected and he spoke into the tiny speaker. ‘Hi Buzz, I am trying to locate Froghorn - could you get him on the line?’” [page 289]

He’s a genuine, kind guy and just the world’s biggest sweetheart what a lovely man - I love him so much and I’ve never even met him 🥰🥰🥰

“Ruby smiled. Blacker was about as cool as a partner as she could wish for and at that moment she felt pretty lucky.” [page 366]

He can whistle. Devastatingly important information, I know.

“Blacker whistled - he could see it all.” [page 388]

He has had other important cases in the past, and was/is a full on field agent.

“‘Ah, once, back when, I had to work undercover tracking down some orchid smugglers. I learned a lot about the business.” [page 396]

Pick Your Poison

He doesn’t consider himself a particularly lucky person.

“‘I got lucky for once, just missed it,’ said Blacker, ‘So you wanted to see me?’ [page 273]

He is a trustworthy and honest guy, the reliable sort.

“Blacker was no liar. Blacker was the one person she could 100% count on, aside from Hitch.“ [page 286]

He is no usually thrown by many situations, a bit of a social butterfly if one will, and I’ve just realised every sentence I’ve typed has begun with ‘he’.

"He was never rattled - soda, yes; jelly donuts, always; but when it came to people he was as steady as they came." [page 370]

Both he and Hitch are slightly prone to morbid jokes, à la one dear, very, very de-parted Marshall Boyd.

“Hitch: ‘You don’t have to convince me, you should see the state she left Baby Face in - or rather I should say, states.’ Delaware: ‘How do you mean? Where is he now?’ Hitch: ‘Well, he left his heart in San Francisco.’ Blacker: “His head was found in Monterrey.’ Hitch: ‘And his legs have yet to show.’ LB: ‘Excuse me?’ Blacker: ‘He’s a goner.’” [page 503]

Blink and You Die

He is not fond of Superskins, but it seems like he’s been in one before, as he has an idea of what being in one is like. Also, he’s a smart man because he doesn’t like helicopters (working, I’m sure they’re just fine but you likely can’t jump from them due to the propellers- that thing begins to drop, pray to whomever that it just doesn’t catch on fire when you crash).

“‘No, mam,’ said Blacker. ‘Don’t like helicopters. And there’s no way I’m putting a Superskin on, not unless I have to.’ ‘They make you feel claustrophobic?’ ‘No, they’re just a heck of a struggle to get in and out of.’” [pages 131 and 132]

He’s not pro child agents, despite his friendship with Ruby, implying he agrees with LB’s stance on the matter.

“‘But I think his brilliance sorta clouded Spectrum’s judgement, made them think it would be easy enough to find a whole trope of children who could do just what he did.’” [page 355]

And that’s all the relevant information I can find about Blacker! Also, I accidentally re-read the part of BYD where LB begs Bradley to be safe and not die, but she knows he will, she knows deep down it’s the last time she’ll see him alive and now I’m about to cry, oh god. Thank god Agent Blacker exists.

Day 59 of 90 - Week 8 Weigh-In

My week 8 weigh in was actually two days ago (and my weight has changed since then) but I’ll give you the breakdown.

Week 2 Weigh-In: 133.8 lbs Change over 1 week: +1.8 lbs Change since beginning: +0.3 lbs

It’s been a weird week. This may be TMI, but it’s my blog, so whatever. Basically, my last period ended before I started my 90 day journey, and I haven’t gotten it since... until this week, when it finally returned. I’m not sure why. (No, I was not pregnant.) My best guess is that the combination of intense exercise and travel made my body freak out (and I tend to not be the most regular regardless). 

So anyway, ever since my period returned, my weight has fluctuated a lot. Here is the breakdown of the past week:

Day 53: 128.5 Day 54: 129.5 Day 55: 131 Day 56: 129.5 Day 57: 127  Day 58: 127.5 Day 59: 128

Like, how weird is that? Maybe it’s not too weird - I looked it up, and according to Google, your weight can fluctuate up to 5 lbs around your period. It just so happened that it dipped on the day of my Week 8 weigh-in, but it’s climbing back up again. Who knows. I’ll wait until I’ve stopped bleeding to make any kind of final judgement call.

I also haven’t exercised much this week, again because of my period. I’ve just been more physically tired, and it felt like the right thing to do to let my body rest. 

I’m nervous about hitting my goal - I still have 3-ish pounds to lose (considering that I’m at 128 today) and only about 30 days to do it. But you know what? I’m going to work hard, do my best, and even if I don’t make it to 125 lbs by the end of my 90 day journey, it will still be okay. I’m healthier now than I was, and I’ve still made a tremendous amount of progress. 

And I’m not giving up yet!
