Do you guys think Marik has chronic back pain? I can imagine that some of the... mark... never got to completely heal or that, since it was originally done with a knife, gone deeper and hurt other inner muscles...

For many years, it was thought that the name "Worm Moon" referred to the earthworms that appear as the soil warms in spring. This invites robins and other birds to feed—a true sign of spring.
However, more research revealed another explanation. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver visited the Naudowessie (Dakota) and other Native American tribes and wrote that the name Worm Moon refers to a different sort of “worm”—beetle larvae—which begin to emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.
March’s full Moon often plays a role in religion, specifically in Christianity, this Moon is known as the Lenten Moon if it is the last full Moon of the winter season (i.e., if it occurs before the spring equinox) or as the Paschal Full Moon if it is the first full Moon of spring (i.e., if it occurs after the spring equinox).

This holiday marks the Spring Equinox, which happens before March 19-22. It is the second of three spring celebrations (the midpoint between Imbolc and Beltane)  during which light & darkness are again in balance, with light on the rise. It is a time of new beginnings & of life emerging further from the grips of winter.
There is much debate regarding the origins of Ostara due to the lack of primary sources about this sabbat. One theory is the name of Ostara came from the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre. Another theory is that Eostre is more of a localized goddess in Kent County, England. Despite the questions of her origins, Eostre is associated with modern-day Pagan traditions of Ostara.
There is no evidence that the ancient Greeks or Romans celebrated Ostara, although they did celebrate their own spring festivals, such as the Roman festival of Floralia & the Greek festival of Anthesteria. It was a time to honor the returning sun, fertility & rebirth.
Related festivals:
• Nowruz- March 19th
Nowruz marks the first day of spring & renewal of nature. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox. It is also celebrated as the beginning of the new year by people all around the world for over 3,000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East & other regions.
It promotes values of peace & solidarity between generations & within families as well as reconciliation & neighbourliness. Nowruz plays a significant role in strengthening the ties among peoples based on mutual respect & the ideals of peace and good neighbourliness.
Traditional customs of Nowruz include fire & water, ritual dances, gift exchanges, reciting poetry, symbolic objects & more; these customs differ between the diverse peoples & countries that celebrate the festival.
• Holi- March 25th
Holi is a popular & significant Hindu festival celebrated as the The festival of colors, Love &Spring. It commemorates eternal and divine love of the deities Radha & Krishna. Additionally, the day signifies the triumph of good over evil, as it celebratess the victory of Vishnu as Narasimha over Hiranyakashipu. Holi originated & is predominantly celebrated in the Indian subcontinent, but has also spread to other regions of Asia & parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora.
Holi also celebrates the arrival of Spring in India, the end of winter & the blossoming of love. It is also an invocation for a good spring harvest season. It lasts for a night & a day, starting on the evening of the Purnima (full moon day) falling on the Hindu calendar month of Phalguna, which falls around the middle of March in the Gregorian calendar.
• Easter- March 31st
also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday is a Christian festival & cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus Christ, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, & penance.
Easter traditions vary across the Christian world & include sunrise services or late-night vigils, exclamations & exchanges of Paschal greetings, flowering the cross & the decoration and the communal breaking of Easter eggs (a symbol of the empty tomb) among many others. The Easter lily is a symbol of the resurrection in Western Christianity traditionally decorates the chancel area of churches on this day & for the rest of Eastertide. Additional customs that have become associated with Easter & are observed by both Christians & some non-Christians include Easter parades, communal dancing, the Easter Bunny & egg hunting.
Other Celebrations:
• Festival of Luna- March 31st
Is a feast day honoring the Goddess Luna who is seen as the divine embodiment of the Moon.
The Temple of Luna was a temple on the Aventine Hill in Rome, dedicated to Luna, the moon goddess. Its dedication was celebrated on March 31st, thus the celebration.
According to Tacitus, it was built by king Servius Tullius. However, the first confirmed reference to a temple to Luna dates to 182 BC & refers to one of its doors being knocked off its posts by a miraculous blast of air & shot into the back of the Temple of Ceres. That account probably places the temple at the north end of the hill, just above porta Trigemina. The temple was struck by lightning around the time of the death of Cinna, as was the temple of Ceres. After the destruction of Corinth, Lucius Mummius Achaicus dedicated some of his spoils from the city to this temple. It was destroyed in the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD & not rebuilt.

BEST YGO GIRL: SEMI FINALS
Match 2
Tumblr media
please use this as an opportunity to say why you like a character, not why you don't.
Propaganda under the cut!
Isis Ishtar
gorgeous, very caring sister, strong duelist, and the only woman to ever make Seto Kaiba squirm
anyways. not only as mentioned above is she the first woman to make kaiba squirm, but she was by all means going to beat him if not for the millennium rod's millennium interference. yami marik admits that she's a strong duelist with a strategy that's been working for literal years-- and given that she's not like, a professional duelist, thats pretty impressive
she also recently got some really cool meta bumps and let me point out that an "ishizu deck" now includes obelisk the tormentor-- which we knew she had prior to giving it to kaiba, but i think it only solidifies my opinion that she very much could wield an Egyptian God Card, an exclusive little club for top tier duelists
as a character she presents herself with an amazing amount of poise and grace, shes compassionate and kind and stays with mai and serenity even though she only just met them. shes struggling through living the past 5 years of her life drowning in guilt for her family's tragedy just because she wanted to make her little brother happy and shadi is a fucking liar. shes foretold her own death and marches towards it grimly but with so much love in her heart. and even then shes 20 years old and holds an important position in the egyptian government that typically requires a doctorate degree AND has been dealing with mariks off-and-on bullshit entirely by her lonesome. she also likes to flex her fortunetelling a little which is awesome i think she should do that more that scene where she tells the guy exactly how the stele is being transported was so everything
speaking of shes got such an attitude. "is it your destiny to waste my time?" iconic. never seen before will never be seen again. watch the duel between her va and joeys its so fucking funny
shes excult. shes doesnt flinch in the face of god nor death. seto kaiba and yami marik respect her. shes so sad and so sweet and battle city couldnt have happened without her.
also her parallels with kaiba are what motivate kaiba to give yugi the card he needed to beat marik.
kaiba, in duelist kingdom, was ready to jump off a ledge if yugi didnt let him through to face pegasus while trying to save mokuba out of sheer desperation to save his little brother. he KNOWS what that dedication feels like and the iron kind of will you need to have to make that kind of gamble. isis is being so fucking legit with what shes saying and he respects that and her judgement enough to change his mind and not only watch the duel, but give yugi a card that eventually helps him win, even if he has no real confidence in the odds. but theres a CHANCE, which is the same thing he taught her when he beat her in a duel. the layers its her faith that moves him to act. which is so crazy
anyway vote isis shes my best friend forever and a real rep for all the 20 year olds who honest to god did not sign up for this bullshit
Aki Izayoi
An abuse victim who isn't the perfect passive figure but gets to work through her complicated feelings about power, agency, and family. Even with Yusei's help, she is the star of the show when she learns to control her powers and reconciles with her father, it is so fun that a ygo heroine gets to take such an antagonistic role bu not be shamed for her anger
please vote for my main girl, aki izayoi. aki was led to believe she was a monster from a young age by her father, who treated her powers like it made her unworthy of love. as a result, divine was able to swoop in and take advantage of aki's low self esteem. for years, aki believed herself unworthy of love and was molded into a living weapon at the hands of authority figures in her life. she was taken advantage of, and thus when she finally comes face to face with yusei, she refuses to believe he could provide her with unconditional friendship. who would want to be around a monster, after all?
aki also nearly beats yusei TWICE in a duel, bringing it down to a single turn difference. she comes toe to toe with him, and it truly is the result of who dueled better. she remains a fierce duelist, btw. the second season, aki gets her duel runner license, and immediately nearly beats the ass of a tournament winning turbo duelist - to the point where once again, a single card is the deciding factor. that's right: she nearly won. if not for a single trap card, aki izayoi would've won.
a fierce duelist who was shaped into a loving, caring woman despite years of being beaten down by the world: aki izayoi. vote for her now on your phones.

DAY 5841
Jalsa, Mumbai Feb 14, 2024 Wed 11:59 PM
Birthday - EF - Rajinder Sehgal .. Ef Ishtar Saiyadi .. Ef Rita Varma Thursday, 15 February
‎🪔 ,
‎February 15 .. birthday greetings to Ef Rita S Varma from Faridabad .. Ef Rajinder Sehgal .. Ef Depack Timbadiaa from Kolkata .. and the DEEWARian lover from USA, Ef Ishtar J. Saiyady .. ܐܫܬܪ .. happiness ever from the Ef Family .. 🙏🏻🚩❤️
Refined isolation and idleness be the bane of our existence .. nothing to work to , nothing to put mind to .. nothing to be in the look for the forward .. nothing !
Yet that is what is aimed at during the times of non refinement .. and when it comes it produces the concurrent legacies of the system described ..
Much to be done , much to be worked on , much to be, much to be attempted and much to be in the learning ..
And the elude ..
To start up again the cranking of the handle for the engine to roar .. the physical act of pushing the propellers of the craft to get in motion .. the begin of everything to be attended with the physical adherence of manual execution ..
is the strange un understandable part of this genZ ..
and by the time they do .. the next hurdle looms ahead ..
"Isolatory life can be both a refuge and a challenge, as individuals navigate the delicate balance between solitude and connection. In seclusion, one discovers the profound depths of self-reflection, fostering personal growth and introspection. However, prolonged isolation may lead to a sense of detachment from the outside world, creating an emotional barrier that hinders social bonds. The isolatory life, marked by quiet contemplation and introspective moments, allows for a unique exploration of one's inner landscape. Yet, it necessitates a conscious effort to bridge the gap between self-discovery and meaningful human connections, as the delicate dance between solitude and social engagement shapes the isolated journey."
from the intervention of thought to the desire of cutting short the expression and explanation .. there is no time to wait and watch .. for by the time these words are expressed , time has changed .. changed the Universe .. altogether ..
and with age - the philosopher emerges among us all .. in depth and longing and presence , to either sound bugles of brilliance, or conversely drown in its own stew .. !!

Deathshipping is a very interesting name for the ship between ryou and yami marik, specifically in that their relationships with death are very similar. They are both fascinated by it, and in a clear sense, very afraid of it.
Ryou lost his family at a young age, and his mind is occupied by the half dead spirit of an ancient graverobber. So many accoisiations with death and buriel and the undoing of those things follow him everywhere. Ryou has every right to be very afraid of death, but the death he seems to be concerned with isn't his. His mind lingers on the deaths of his family, a mirror to the death of the family of the undead abomination that haunts his soul, he writes them letters, and he seems utterly unattached to the world after losing them. In a sense, he died with them. In a sense, ryou is a spirit as much as Bakura is. Ryou also has a morbid interest in death. He is fascinated by the occult, builds undead, death, and spirit centric decks, always is entranced to seek out the amulet that contains said vengeful spirit, etc. Ryou almost seems to have a strange love affair with death.
On the other side, yami marik came into being with the single purpose of keeping marik Ishtar alive, and by killing anyone who hurts him. Yami marik draws comparison to Sekhmet, a fierce goddess of slaughter, but also of healing. Death rules the lives of both mariks . The death and rebirth of Atem, the death of their mother in childbirth, and specifically the death of their father, at Yami Mariks hands. Marik Isbtar fears death over all else, an even greater fear than losing control and ceding his life to Atem. Yami Marik also fears death above all else, both mariks death, which he was created to protect him from, and. His own, because he fears that. He will never be able to break away from the purpose. He was created. To fulfill, to live. Truly on his own as a speraate person from mariks pain. Yami marik is also driven by an urge to kill the people who hurt him, which degenerates over the time trapped inside mariks mind to the goal of kill as many people as possible bit he always goes back to Risbid, the barrier that keeps him from reaching a true life for himself. He enjoys the suffering and death of other people, but is terrified of his own.
Anyways yeha deathshipping is an interesting name for them

Libra ⚖️ Cosmic Balance Talon Abraxas
The energy of your Sun sign motivates and drives you. It's who you are learning to become. Those born with the Sun in Libra are learning to take action around principles of fairness, justice, and equality and have an urge to create harmony in one-to-one relationships.
Libra Sun Sign Astrological Basics Astrological signs have many things that give and refine the definition of each.
The Scales The word "Libra" means scales in Latin. The scales are the only inanimate symbol of the zodiac. They symbolize perfect equilibrium.
The symbol dates back to Babylonian astrology, a time when scales were used in marriage rites by the bride's family to weigh the silver and gold presented to the groom.
The scales symbolize Libra's need to create balance, beautiful consonance, and restore equilibrium to all affairs.
Libra's Glyph Libra's glyph is a simplified drawing of the setting sun, as it falls below the horizon at dusk.
In Egyptian astrology, Libra was displayed as a disc above a bowl-like shape, said to represent the setting Sun above the Earth.
It also resembles the mathematical symbol for "equal".
Libra and the Seventh House Libra corresponds to the seventh house of an astrological chart. The Descendant is the cusp of the seventh house. At dusk each day the astrological Sun falls below the Descendant. The seventh house is opposite the first house and places focus on significant others. A Libra's identity and satisfaction in life are highly dependent on how others relate to them.
Libra's Modality and Element Libra's modality (mode of operation) is Cardinal (initiating, new, birthing.) Its element is Air (mental.) These indicate that Libra initiates on an intellectual level.
Libra's Planetary Ruler Libra's ruling planet is Venus. Venus is the Roman goddess of love, beauty, sexuality, abundance, desire, fertility, and finances. But she is also the goddess of prostitutes and has a wild side that favors excess, vanity and materialism. The Babylonians called Venus the double-phased Ishtar, the morning star of war and the evening star of love. Venus as ruler of Libra defines many Libra traits.

The Heroine's Journey 101
What do you want?
I want a full Heroine's Journey arc for Carol.
That's what I want.
Tumblr media
I read Gail Carriger's The Heroine's Journey just over a year ago and I've been thinking about the Heroine's Journey in relation to Carol ever since.
First things first, I need to stress that the Heroine's Journey is not the same as the Hero's Journey.
I don't want a Hero's Journey for Carol because this framework privileges individual greatness and solitude. Heroes tend to end up sad and alone.
I want a Heroine's Journey for Carol because this framework is about love, connection, and community.
Heroines love and are loved in return.
Heroines get their happily ever after.
Who wouldn't want that for Carol?
Tumblr media
The Heroine’s Journey is a timeless narrative framework. And I mean timeless! Carriger traces its origins in ancient myths from all around the world (The Theft of Persephone, The Myth of Osiris, The Descent of Ishtar) and it's still being used today. Carriger highlights that the Heroine's Journey is the backbone of hugely successful pop culture franchises (Harry Potter, Twilight) and this framework also underpins most romance novels (one of the most lucrative forms of fiction). The Heroine's Journey is a winning formula because it prioritizes emotional resonance. We root for the characters because they feel authentic. These stories make us cry, smile, and cheer in all the right places. These stories always keep us engaged and keep us coming back for more.
And guess what? The Heroine's Journey is also common in our fandom equivalent of romance novels - Caryl fics.
Sticking with obvious examples for now, we all know that search and rescue narratives are common in fic, right? If you've ever read a fic where Carol is on a mission to find her lost daughter and she falls for Daryl along the way, you've read a Heroine's Journey. If you've ever read a fic where Carol sets out to rescue Daryl, you've read a Heroine's Journey. Similarly, If you've ever read a fic where Carol rebuilds her life after being exiled or forced to leave home, you've read a Heroine's Journey.
What I'm trying to say is you’re probably already a fan of the Heroine’s Journey. If you like narratives with a strong emotional core, romance, love, found family, comfort, and happy endings then look no further than the Heroine's Journey.
By my reckoning, Carol’s never done a full Heroine’s Journey arc in the flagship show. Some of that is to do with Carol’s personality – she’s a lone wolf for the most part and the desire for revenge can be a strong motivator for her. Creative decisions have also prevented Carol from having a full Heroine's Journey. Carol's never really been allowed to have a full romantic storyline with Daryl and she's never really achieved emotional closure.
I'm hoping things are different this time around. We definitely have a real opportunity to see a Heroine's Journey in action. This is because Carol's undertaking a recovery mission, not a revenge mission. Critically, Carol’s love for Daryl is at the heart of her quest. Her love is driving her every step of the way. Carol's love is what makes her a heroine.
My next few posts will break down each major stage of the Heroine’s Journey (The Descent, The Search, The Ascent). I'm going to explain how each beat could be used in TBOC and what I'd like to see from the show. Some of these beats are a given and already form part of the TBOC's story. Some beats and themes should be a given. Most importantly, Carol's undertaking this journey because she loves Daryl - the narrative should be hammering that point home at every opportunity. We also need to see meaningful payoff - we need to know that Carol didn't come all this way for nothing. Another hug isn't going to cut it. Another "I love you" sans kiss isn't going to cut it.
We need to see a passionate and romantic reunion.
We need to see Caryl's love proudly celebrated on screen.
They've earned it.
We've earned it too.
Romantic canon is the natural conclusion to Carol/Caryl's arc and Carol's Heroine's Journey would be incomplete without romantic closure.
Before I sign off, please remember that the Heroine's Journey emphasizes collaboration and community.
The floor is yours!
Let's talk about what we want for Carol, Caryl, and Melissa McBride.
Let's talk about which beats are the most important to us.
Let's talk about how we want to feel when watching The Book of Carol.

Thinking about Surgeon!Eli meeting a kid who has a cleft lip and isn't scared of getting the corrective surgery. He's a brave little guy, about 4 years old, who does well every visit. He talks to Hawk about everything, all his interests, even the small things like his favorite food his mommy makes him.
Speaking of his mommy, Reader is the one super nervous and scared for her baby to go into surgery. She's the one talking fast and needing assurance about the procedure. Her mind is racing and so is her heart at the thought of her baby being in any pain at all. However, she knows his quality of life will be better with the surgery. This isn't for appearances. This is for his life and health.
Eli assures her every appointment that it will be okay. He won't say it but the nurses will tell her that he's the best peds plastics surgeon around. She won't find someone who cares as much as Eli Moskowitz and how will take care of her baby as if he's his own. Her heart and mind are put at ease. So when surgery day comes, she gives her brave baby boy a kiss on the head before he's taken back and she's left waiting.
When Eli comes out and tells her it went well and that they'll have him in a room soon, she wants to hug him. She thanks him over and over again instead, telling hi thanks for taking such good care of her baby. That little boy is her whole life. She doesn't know what she'd do without him and she'll do anything to make his life better, easier, happier. It means so much to her and she says she doesn't know how to repay him. He assures he that there's no need for repayment. This is his job, what he's spent his whole life working towards, and helping kids and their families is reward enough.
A few months later, Eli runs into the pair at the grocery. Reader's son sees him and runs up to him, screaming across the store for him. Eli crouches down to him for a greeting and asks him how he's doing. The little boy is so happy to see him and show him his healed lip. Eli already knew what the healed scar looks like from their last check up appointment months ago but indulges the boy with a smile.
"Now we match!" the little boy giggles.
Reader catches up and begs her son to stop running off like that. He's so rambunctious and independent that he can't help it. When they're on the pasta aisle, he volunteers to go get their favorite cereal and that he'll be "super duper fast." Only to get distracted by toy cars.
This time he's happened to get distracted by his favorite doctor in the whole wide world.
Eli smiles and stands as Reader picks up her son and puts him in the cart so he won't run off again. "How are you two?"
"Well," she tells him, smiling back. "How are you?"
"Great," he says and nods. "It's nice to see you. How're the pre schoolers liking that cool scar?"
Reader son grins. "I'm so cool! We play doctor all the time and I get to be the doctor like you! And fix everyone's lips like you do! And their arms and their legs and I listen to their hearts too."
"Really?" He asks. Her son nods and Eli sighs. "Wow! Sounds like you and I should be partners. We'd make a really great team at the rate your going."
The boy laughs and kicks his feet from the cart's seat, the idea exciting him. "That sounds like so much fun! I'll start soon!"
Reader can't help but giggle and smile. Seeing her little boy thrive after the surgery is great. Not that he wasn't thriving before but she was worried that the surgery Ishtar change things. He had friends before and he still has friends, but there was that motherly fear that things wouldn't stay the same. That somehow he'd be treated differently because of this. But he wasn't and he was happy. And it was thanks to Eli, their fantastic doctor who made it less scary for her and that much more amazing for her son.
The doctor standing in front of her that she can't seem to take her eyes off of. The guy who was making her son laugh and engaging with him in conversation that he was so happy about. The guy who looked good standing in a tight compression shirt and shorts, a little sweaty from what appears to be an afternoon run. Her heart thrums and flutters as he high fives her son with a big smile. And she thinks Oh shit, not again.

Sorry but what was Mariks goal in Battle City? The dub said he wanted to rule the world but I think that was a dubbism.
Marik was raised with the belief that according to prophecy, one day the pharaoh will return (and that "you will know [the pharoah] by the gods he wields") and at such time he and the rest of the clan were to turn over the millennium items so that the pharaoh will regain his memories, after which the tombkeepers "will have no reason to exist."
Marik does not like this prophecy, and deeply resents the idea that he and his ancestors are supposed to dedicate their lives to suffering in the dark for thousands of years for some jerk, especially since the pharaohs ghost will or whatever (he believes) killed his father. He also interprets the "have no reason to exist" bit to mean he and his family all die at the end.
Marik's plan is to do some good ol fashioned "exact wording of the prophecy" trickery. If you'll know the pharaoh by the god cards he wields, then all Marik has to do is get all the god cards FIRST, and get rid of any other candidates, then the prophecy will have no choice but to determine that Marik Ishtar was the true pre-ordained pharaoh all along! This puts him in a position of divine power, gets revenge for his father's murder, and probably allows him to avoid mass tombkeeper death; it also sort of symbolically re-takes the past few millennia of tombkeeper servanthood away from the pharaohs who ordered their entombment and gives it to one of their own.
Obviously a lot of the underlying facts Marik is operating under are wrong (he killed his own father, and the pharaoh's return means the tombkeepers as an institution ceases to exist and the people themselves are free to live new lives) and we have no idea if this would have worked even if he had successfully knocked out Atem and collected all 3 gods. But I do appreciate a good literal-prophecy gambit.

shuffles my papers. thinking abt small adaptations in the population of the tombkeepers. 3000 years isnt enough to cause incredibly noticeable shifts in a human population but their isolated nature + longevity does mean i think there would be a few smaller things
for starters i think u could make the case marik & ishizu demonstrate ocular albinism (the purple / blue (and in duel links for ishizu, pink) all are ways it can be interpreted) as well as the persistence of light colored hair in the family line as a way of adapting to their low-vd3 environment. furthermore i think they probably have a tendency towards being shorter (although i think an argument could be made that because marik left the tombs as a child he breaks this pattern since he still had time to Grow His Bones) and have slower metabolisms/a lower overall body temperature
the likelihood of rickets is still a pretty high possibility given everything although we do see openings to the sky like the grate and well and we know at least Some of Them go up to the surface from time to time bc they have gas lamps and ishizu Knew Some Shit. also insects & fungi contain vitamin d as a source from diet, as do many kinds of fish, and calcium is found in various dairy products as well as taro root, which grows in egypt. that being said, it seems like the ishtars lean towards being vegetarian in some way, so (?) get under the sun hole child
stronger low light visual acuity but weaker overall color definition and sight is also pretty likely. respiration and cardiac changes in response to hypoxia (lower oxygen levels) likely include a higher resting respiratory rate, larger lungs, and more capillaries in muscle tissue. overall hearing sensitivity increase also but likely more towards the specific wavelength of sounds that are localized + audible in the muffled environment of an underground chamber

Full name: Vatyrie Viceroy Avaris
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Pronouns: He/Him
O T H E R
Family: -> Father: Orias Avaris -> Mother: Ishtar Glasyus Avaris -> Older Brother: Darius -> Older Sister: Bedelia
Birthplace: Demi-devil citystate of Azaroth just south of the Firesteap Mountains in the Shaaran Desert
Job: currently - Ranger/Sellsword; past - courtesan; noble
Phobias: Thalassophobia
Guilty pleasures: Indulging in an occasional smoke, preferably of an Infernal variety. Tobacco/drugs of that variety are difficult to come by outside of hell-influenced areas, so he saves what he finds for rare occasions. Also he loves good strong coffee.
Hobbies: Alchemy and herbalism, climbing and acrobatics, petty theft, music (listening mostly, playing/singing on rare occasions), archery
M O R A L S
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, usually good leaning
Sins: Greed, so lots of theft and stinginess. Growing up a noble made him very haughty and manipulative, but that has toned down now. He is still cocky and sarcastic. Disingenuous and distrusting due to past trauma. Oh, also murder.
Virtues: He is protective and encouraging of those few he does get close to. He is witty, charming, and playful at his best, and his skills make him insightful, meticulous (when he can focus), and discreet.

OTP: Vatyrie/Astarion. Playing through bg3, I was shocked at how well their stories foil each other. Both have a core desire for freedom and want to be loved/cared for but fear suffering for it. I could go on all day with the two of them
Acceptable Ships: I think he could bond well with Wyll as well, if Wyll was willing (or wylling) to put in the work to build his trust and show him the benefits of selfless heroicness. Other people's OCs are also cool with me, if you think he's a good match!
Brotp: -> Karlach reminds him of his sister and once they get close, they get along like a house on fire (a bit too apt of a metaphor lol). -> He also loves gossiping with Shadowheart, and appreciates her private yet sometimes goofy nature. -> And of course, Astarion is a best friend who he finds fun, relatable, and talented.
Notp: He might not work in a relationship with everyone (very few actually) but he could comfortably have a sexual relationship with just about anyone. At heart, he is a very tactile and affectionate person, and sex is more of a hobby/fun pass-time to him (love making/emotional intimacy is more sacred to him). Only thing I can think would be The Emperor, because there is so much suspicion and distrust and anger at the manipulation and of being someone's tool again.

This full Moon has also been called the Long Night Moon (Mohican), as it rises during the “longest” nights of the year, near the December winter solstice. This name is doubly fitting because December’s full Moon shines above the horizon for a more extended period than most full Moons.
In Europe, ancient pagans called the December full Moon the “Moon Before Yule,” in honor of the Yuletide festival celebrating the return of the sun heralded by winter solstice.

“Yule” comes from Old English geol, which shares a history with the equivalent word from Old Norse, jól. Both these words referred to a midwinter festival centered around the winter solstice, which traditionally marked the halfway point of the winter season. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun &the fertile land’s rebirth.
The celebration of Yule is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. Ancient people were hunters & spent most of their time outdoors. The seasons & weather played a significant part in their lives. The customs and traditions associated with it vary widely.
Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the heathen Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht ("Mothers' Night")
Some believe it marks the rebirth of the Sun (the God) from the Earth (the Goddess) & the cold days of winter will soon begin to wane. The Goddess is seen in her virgin Maiden aspect
In towns and cities throughout Sweden during the Christmas season, large goats are constructed out of straw. It is thought that the tradition originated in ancient times, perhaps as a tribute to the god Thor, who was said to ride in a chariot pulled by goats. In Sweden the goat came to be associated with the Christmas celebration, and the Yule goat is now considered by many to be a companion or counterpart to Santa Claus.
Related festivals:
Christmas- An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of God, primarily observed on December 25th
Hanukkah- A Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem & subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE.
Hanukkah is observed for eight nights & days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, commonly called a menorah or hanukkiah.
Kwanzaa- An annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1st, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West & Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
A Kwanzaa ceremony may include drumming and musical selections, libations, a reading of the African Pledge & the Principles of Blackness, reflection on the Pan-African colors, a discussion of the African principle of the day or a chapter in African history, a candle-lighting ritual, artistic performance & finally, a feast of faith (Karamu Ya Imani).
Saturnalia-
is an ancient Roman festival and holiday in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December of the Julian calendar & later expanded with festivities through to 23 December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum & a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying & a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted & masters provided table service for their slaves as it was seen as a time of liberty for both slaves and freedmen alike.
A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed & presided over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. The poet Catullus called it "the best of days".
Other celebrations:
Feast of Epona-
Eponalia is the feast day of Gaulish Goddess Epona, the Divine Mare & in the time of the Roman Empire it was celebrated on December 18th.
Epona is known to be one of a very few Gaulish deities whose names were spread to the rest of the Roman Empire. This seems to have happened because Roman cavalry units stationed in Gaul followed Her & adopted her as their Patroness. This may have started because many of the cavalry troops were conscripted from Gaul as they were superb horsemen. From Gaul the Romans took Epona with them including to Rome where She was given her own feast day on the 18 December. They worshipped her as Epona Augusta or Epona Regina & invoked her on behalf of the Emperor. She even had a shrine in the barracks of the Imperial Bodyguard.
Hunting of the Wren-
A traditional custom carried out on the Isle of Man on the 26 December, St. Stephen's Day. It consists of groups of people going around villages and towns singing and dancing a traditional song and dance around a decorated wren pole.
The earliest and most common folklore story accounting for the origin of hunt the wren tells of a fairy/enchantress/witch whose beauty lures the men of the Isle of Man to harm, for which she is chased and is changed into the form of a wren. It is therefore in punishment for her actions that the wren is hunted on St. Stephen's Day

BEST YGO GIRL: FINAL ROUND
Yuzu Hiragi
The entire show would not work if the cast wasn't obsessed with her, and they're all right to stan her, literally gets Sora and Serena to defect from Academia with her sheer charisma, beat Masumi at their gay little rivalry, Yugo spends a few days with her and is ready to die for her, Yuya is simply just the loudest about adoring her And why not? She is so clever and determined, doing the most work out of anyone to figure out the myth plot. Actively trains to keep up with the rest of cast. Even when the universe is conspiring against her and trying to keep her down, she fucking headbutts Roger and tells him off or manifests to help save the world in the ultimate girlboss team-up that was the Arc V finale. Truly any dimension without her is worth upending.
The mysterious magical bracelet that isekai's her to different worlds, the Can-Do attitude, the cool poses (fusion summoning), the ADORABLE character design, AND she was 1/4 of a world-saving hero in the past?? If it weren't for the meddling writers, she would have been the main character
yuzu is everything. literally the plot of arc v hinges on the fact everyone who meets her become just as obsessed with her. and they are totally right to do so

okay okay marik ishtar getting psychosexual in the club brain time. (Sorry in advance for the bigass text block. also if you are an ace/aro marik truther then A) I can see it but also B) this is very much not that. be forewarned.) I know things along these lines have been said before, but I truly cannot picture him being some kind of crazily sexually/romantically liberated flirt like you see a lot in fanon. Feel free to argue with me if you want in the reblogs or comments or whatever I am not sure about what I'm saying here. (+1500 words of Help Me under the readmore!)
He grew up underground, with no one else around but his abusive highly religious dad, personal manservant/extremely protective brother figure, and what seems to be the only even somewhat normal family relationship he has with his sister that's almost as isolated and frankly seems moderately socially awkward outside of telling mysterious prophecies. I do not think he was not getting Helpful and Informative Sex Ed, to say the least, and also if/when he started going through puberty he would have functionally nowhere to project those urges. Maybe he can get a crush on a particularly well-drawn wall carving or statue idk but the point is that he doesn't have any actual human reference for what the feelings mean other than his immediate family which is a uhhhhhh different and much more uncomfortable conversation!
Also, even when he and Rishid finally get out of there and start up the Ghouls, I don't think Rishid would bother with telling him about sex and romance as he gets older - if anything, he would be less likely to tell him, because if there's one thing Rishid would want to do as little as possible, it would be to allow more opportunities for Marik to act out in more "depraved" ways - I mean, come on, the guy already forces people to commit suicide, brainwashes them to fight in death matches, and do weird little dances in public for his entertainment (I know that one isn't as intimidating as the other ones, but I do think it's important to establish the sheer level of pettiness and self-indulgence he's at by this point.)
We've already established by this point that his ability to empathize and sympathize with other people is currently somewhere at the bottom of the Marianas trench, assuming he may not have had low empathy before then, which he might've judging by how he treats his siblings (diversity win! the arc villain has low-functioning empathy!), though that may also be due to being the "favorite" and getting what he wants all the time and not being raised to consider them real people on par with him and his father. But I digress. I do think Rishid would be at least considering the ways that those behaviors would intersect with teenage hormones, to say the least (plus the whole Yami Marik thing, which I'll discuss. Later.)
But by contrast, I don't think it makes sense to say Marik's completely innocent to the concept - he may be a very socially isolated 16 year old, but he's still like. a 16 year old. He regularly pries inside of peoples heads to manipulate them, and if you go by anime canon, he is definitely aware of very strong romantic feelings (and therefore possibly sexual ones, though maybe not? arkana ace king ig) in the form of arkana/pandora's little anime lost love scenario. Also, I think its fair to assume a Good Number of the Ghouls would possess sexual or romantic feelings as well. However. However. I am going to go out on a limb and say that learning about sex from people's personal fantasies is to sex ed what learning about how to cook from Hell's Kitchen is to chef college; everything you absorb is overdramatic, unrealistic, extremely emotionally charged, and often involves a surprising amount of violence and degradation for a day-to-day activity.
I'm going to say Marik then is Aware of sex, but doesn't fully "get" it. Like. It makes him uncomfortable to think about it for too long, and in general, it's just something Other People do. It's something he can use to get close to people (sign that says ASK ME ABOUT FEMME FATALE MARIK ISHTAR PROPAGANDA), but its not really something he fully accepts as something he would do just for the sake of it. He's aware of it, but it's still a moderately alien concept to him, at least that's how he would think about it.
Additionally, I don't think his vision of romantic love is going to be any better. In between societies massive effort to romanticize (ehehe) those specific feelings as the end-all-be-all of affection and the fact that, again, he didn't really grow up with anyone (and still really doesn't have another outlet) other than his dad and siblings as who he "loves" - I do think he loves his siblings, and, tragically enough, probably his father as well. (Thats something else people ignore a ton. We as The Audience do not like Peepaw Ishtar but Marik himself has NO clue what he did was wrong or bad or unforgivable. If anything Marik considers himself the problem for not being able to take it. But that's another convo. God I'm going all over the place today.) Anyways what I'm trying to say here is that Marik probably sees romantic love as something that's present and he should Want but doesn't quite fully understand the emotional implications of it or investment necessary to make it work. If anything he would know less about romance since while old Egyptian myths do mention sex and sexuality with fair regularity - albeit not with much that would help a clueless 12 year old that associates said myths with his imprisonment and doom - there is very little talk of True Love in there. The fact that his knowledge of marriage extends to "my mother died a horrible painful death in childbirth having me and my dad didn't really care" probably is not helping matters!
Also tying this all together is the fact that Marik seems to have a Fraught and Uneasy relationship with his own body, to say the least. Like. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say he seems to consider it just another damp, dark prison he's stuck in, one that has done nothing other than provide an easy way to hurt him and keeps him tied to the Tombkeeper legacy. And who wouldn't? The guy has a massive scar carved into his back permanently reminding him of how trapped he really. Additionally, that's another barrier to intimacy, since there's no way on Earth he's letting anyone touch his back without an INSANE amount of trust - I imagine even Rishid is somewhat suspect in allowing him to touch his back.
The only time he seems really happy is when he gets to extend his mind outside of himself, into other people's brains and giving him a sense of power in an otherwise very controlled life. So that's definitely one barrier there! How do you even begin trying to make your body feel good when all your body has felt like all your life is completely awful? Especially when it would involve letting another person have access to it in a very vulnerable state??? Nuh uh no way thank you sir but we're staying repressed forever and shoving any and all Perverse Urges into a box deep deep in our Mind Room and ignoring them until we die, which we never will because we're Special. This is to say nothing of the fact that one of his tombkeepers duties is theoretically to procreate and create a new generation of keepers which is. Wow. Another conversation entirely but for our purposes means that he already is not going to have a good relationship to that! (Bonus points if it turns out he's homosexual. I'm not saying he is gay, but layering the Problems with "not attracted to women" would be an interesting intersection.)
Anyways the cherry on top of this miserable sundae is the Existence of Yami Marik, the Good-Times Ruiner. Point number one: in between the weird sadomasochism thing he has going on and the fact that he seems significantly more physically and emotionally liberated than Marik, I think it would be fair to call him a moderately sexualized character, though not a straight-up succubus (yes I am aware the term for men is Incubus. quiet).
Point number two: Yami Marik is generally seen to represent Marik's repressed urges and grudges, so we can pretty easily make the assumption that Yami Marik being sexualized comes from an attempt to absolve Marik of such uncomfortable distractions. So there is the thought there that he considers his sexual urges on par with or at least related to his violent and vengeful ones.
Point number three: You would have thought that at least partially realizing this by the end of Battle City would result in Marik realizing he should stop repressing his emotions. But it won't! Because that's not how that Highly Functional Ishtar Brain works! It goes "I now associate sexuality with one of the worst and most publicly humiliating and traumatic times of my life, so I now consider it an Active Problem to get rid of instead of just a uncomfortable quirk of mine." So no actually I think he would be getting worse! Someone send him to a therapist please or at least figure out a way for him not to simultaneously hate himself while still hating everyone else More.
anyways tl;dr: Marik ishtar knows about an extremely warped version of sex but good lord he is repressing it fifteen feet underground. Again feel free to argue with me if you want I'd like to hear other opinions. Anyways hope yall have a nice day and thanks for reading thru all of that!
