I went to a local production of Romeo & Juliet where all the actors pulled their roles out of a hat two minutes before showtime and my favorite joke was the actor who played Juliet wore a trucker hat that said "GIRL" on it until the scene where Romeo and Juliet imply they've consummated their marriage, when he dramatically threw it to the side and pulled out another hat that said "WOMAN" on it

#please feel free to ignore this #Incredible bit #The actress who played Lady Capulet delivered all of her lines in a hilariously thick Long Island accent #and during the scene where Lady Capuley castigates Juliet for not wanting to marry Paris she tapped the 'WOMAN' hat knowingly #and Juliet threw it to the side and looked at the crowd sheepishly #The actor who played Paris kept stumbling over his lines during the scene where he finds Juliet in the tomb #and the actor kept laughing so Paris told him to 'Be a professional' #Also it was a 'happy ending' rewrite so everyone miraculously lived (except Tybalt because his actor was already on stage) #Also they replaced all the swordfighting scenes with random selections from a list of other competition options #Including walking the runway and interpretive dance

I get grey hairs every time I see Leo and Tallulah being described as the most misunderstood eggs.

Answer: Their parents and ~2-3 of their aunts/uncles. Exactly like Leo and Tallulah.

If your proof of Leo being misunderstood is q!aypierre and q!bad saying she would enjoy being away from q!foolish, I have news for you; they weren't being serious. Q!bad knows perfectly well how close Leo and q!foosh are, and seeing people constantly downplaying q!bad's relationship with Leo in specific is honestly sad. Yes, Leo now prefers to be taken care of by q!roier because that's her brother, and he speaks Spanish. But way before he was there? Q!bad was her babysitter. Q!max babysat her twice, I think? But other than that? For months, if Leo needed a babysitter, it was q!bad. He knows her. She knows him. She used to help q!bad troll q!foolish. When q!forever came clean about what he did to Leo, q!bad drew his weapon, getting ready to kill. She used to wake up for him as well. And she still occasionally does. Q!bad sang his most precious lullaby to her, "You are my sunshine," with personalised lyrics:

not to qsmp purgatory post in the month of our lord december 2023, but genuine question for soulfire mains:

i've seen a lot of fanposting about soulfire being connected to ice symbolically the way bolas was to gas, how much of that symbolism was directly pushed or reinforced by the ccs?

as a bolas main, i can think of blue's spawn being a frozen hellscape, bad wearing the freeze armor 24/7, and bad finding green's base with the ice from a blizzard event!

Man, I still can’t believe how many people read that article about how six religious Tongan boarding school boys belonging to a culture of boating and fishing, who were close friends before they got lost, behaved when they found themselves stranded on an island, and went “This completely invalidates every idea William Golding had about how 50+ random British boarding school boys emerging from a plane wreck might handle it.”

#my mom once sent me that article (which to be clear is an awesome read) and I said #“Those boys were fine because there was no choir around” and I was not kidding #the last thing you need on an island is a bunch of competitive singers #anyway William Golding’s thesis was never that every human being has a powerful wellspring of hidden bloodlust #it was that certain high-pressure circumstances could lead to the ones that do having more influence and less accountability #or incentive to practice self-control #which I hope we already knew

so wait, since i was just reminded of the recorder thing donna talked about in the giggle, i now have a question for uk ppl: do yall learn the recorder in school? like in a music class? and like how much do yall have music class over there?

#this is a very interesting topic for me as a music educator from the us #ik a guy from ireland and he said there was no music class in schools for him and like not the same country BUT same island #(as northern ireland. not the others in the uk but still) #and its so wild and fascinating music education is a fascinating field and the way we do it in the us seems to be largely vvv unique to us #for clarification on how things are different so ppl have a better idea on how to answer my question lol: #in the us music class is standard in elementary schools and most places have general music until abt 5th/6th grade (year 6/7) #(general music = basics- music games learn recorder SOME notation-reading; often classroom instruments eg boomwhackers claves maracas #orff instruments if you're lucky/from a school district that isnt poor. also some world music) #its less standardized after that and not every school will have music after middle school but concert bands and choirs are both huge here #choirs start right on the heels of general music classes (sometimes start earlier + students elect to be in choir instead of general music) #bands USUALLY start in 4th grade (year 5) but sometimes can be later 5th/6th (year 6/7) or even 7th (year 8) (WAY less common) #depends on the state generally 4th is most common i think (choirs start at around the same time i think so probs 4th but choir isnt my area #orchestras are weird bc theyre a lot less common but can commonly start younger bc of one of the big approaches to music ed (suzuki method) #so like maybe 3rd grade (year 4) maybe 4th w/ band (year 5) but i have a friend who teaches at a private school #& said they have 1st/2nd graders (year 2/3)!! orchestra is also not my area though #also marching bands: vv common! usually just in hs (starting 9th grade / year 10) bc it supports the football team at games #but starting in 8th grade (year 9) is also common (sometimes even 7th / year 8) #theres two different styles: collegiate/show band and competition. former is very rah rah pop music etc; competition is more abstract #show bands are clearly designed to entertain whereas competition is designed to be more impressive and tell a story #so more impact moments abstract shapes/lines on the field and has movements - opener ballad closer (fast-slow-fast)
