You knew thoroughly and completely that this was supposed to be the most exciting time of your life… It was the time for new beginnings, to embark on new journeys and gain new perspectives but it didn’t feel that way at all. It felt like the sky was falling and your life was ending though it was truly just getting started and Jake was feeling the same way. Of course he did, you shouldn’t have been surprised, your families had joked you shared one brain since you’d first met at ten years old. A screaming match at recess landed the two of you in the principal's office with your parents and while you’d walked in as mortal enemies, you teamed up in your disdain for your parents and teachers assessment of the situation and left as friends, never to be seen far from the other for the following eight years.
“We knew this was coming, sweetheart…” he said, planting a kiss on your forehead as you nestled into his side. It was rather dramatic and you knew it, because he was right but that didn’t make this any easier. You weren’t leaving yet and neither was he, it was a simple question he’d asked… wanting to know if you’d made any college decisions yet and halfway through your answer you’d broken down. The weight of that decision had hit you like a freight train and left you wracked with emotion as you cried into his chest.
“I don’t want to leave,” you blubbered and he rubbed soothingly along your back.
“Yes, you do. I do, too. Trust me, if there was a Navy flight school in California I’d be there in a heartbeat.”
“If there was a good biology program in Florida, I’d be there in a heartbeat,” you replied and he just chuckled.
“Wouldn’t do much good anyways, I’d be off to Rhode Island before you graduated anyways.”
“Why would you say that right now?” you asked, another wave of tears cascading down your face. Theoretically you knew Jake’s dream career would leave him bouncing around not only the country but the world for seemingly the rest of his life and it was a disgustingly bitter pill to swallow.
“Hey, you’re going to be all over the place, too… after Stanford who knows where you’ll go for residency… then you’ll have your pick of fellowships because why wouldn’t you?”
“I’m offended you didn’t say Massachusetts for residency, you have to speak it into existence, Jake.” you mumbled.
“Your plans could change… it’s okay for plans to change,” he pointed out and you looked up at him deadpan. “Right, forgot who I was talking to,” he laughed. “We’re going to be okay.”
You shook your head, “no… we’re not.” This was where you and Jake differed. He had an unwavering optimism for your relationship's survival after graduation but you didn’t share that same hope. You knew what was coming, you knew how few relationships actually survived the first year of college. By some miracle if it did, it would only grow more strained once medical school started, and residency was a completely different beast… not to mention the fact that he would be frequently deployed only god knows where with no ability to call or check in.
“Honey…” he started, but you just cut him off.
“We have to be realistic,” you muttered. “I think we should…” you trailed off, feeling your throat grow thick, almost as if your body was forcing you not to say it because once you did everything would change. You felt him stiffen beneath you and your body’s attempt at self-preservation was in vain anyways, he knew where you were going.
“We should what? Break up?” he asked, hurt lacing his voice and you sat up to face him as you wiped your tears.
“No, I… I don’t want to break up, Jake, you know that… I just-”
“Think it would be easier?” he asked and you shook your head, taking his hands in yours as you tried to keep him from spiraling.
“I’m not saying this because it’s what I want, Jake. It’s the furthest thing from what I want, if I could make myself have the same dream as you and go to flight school with you so we could keep doing everything together like we always have I would. God, I’ve even tried to want that but we’re just… we’re on different paths. We both dream too big and eventually it was going to catch up to us.”
“So is this… are you ending this right now? Are we over?” Tears were forming in his eyes and you reached up to swipe them away as they fell.
“No. I’m saying that… I’m saying that we should soak up the time we have together, make the most of it before we both leave and when we do…” you trailed off again, and he cradled your head in his hands.
“When we do, we’re over.” You nodded, your face curling with pain and he couldn’t bear the sight. He pulled you in close, hugging you tight as if he loosened his grip you’d vanish into thin air. “I love you,” he mumbled into your hair and you nodded as you wrapped yourself around him.
“I love you too, so much…”
And you did just what you said you would. You made the most of the few weeks you had left. Your parents knew what was coming and loosened the reins, sleepovers that had stopped the moment you got together were no longer forbidden and despite their own grief at their babies moving out and moving on they allowed you to spend all of your time together because secretly your impending doom was just as hard on them as it was on you. The four of them had all known your relationship was an inevitability, even had wagers on when it would happen… your mom had won, something she boasted about frequently, she’d even gotten it right down to the day, your junior prom. They also knew what you did, that it would never survive the rigors of college, the unpredictability of the Navy, or the grueling schedule of residency. They’d raised two kids that were larger than life, two kids destined to become the greatest at what they did and you just weren’t old enough or mature enough to figure out how to make each other fit.
You helped each other pack, studied for finals, danced the night away at prom and walked with each other onto the field for graduation and when the time came to load you onto a plane to San Jose he was right by your side until he couldn’t be.
“This isn’t goodbye,” he said, sensing your body language as you turned to face him before entering the security line.
You nodded, “I know… I’ll see you at Thanksgiving,” you said softly and his hands rested on your hips. You had said your goodbyes to your parents this morning, they suggested Jake drop you at the airport to let you have your final moments in privacy… as much privacy as the airport would allow.
“We’re making the right decision,” you weren’t really sure who he was trying to convince but in the end it didn’t really matter. Neither one of you were sure this was true, but it seemed to be the only way to handle things right now.
You nodded again, “it’s not an ending it’s just… all we’re saying is not right now.” He leaned his forehead against yours, eyes fluttering shut as he pulled you as close as he possibly could and you felt tears spill out and onto your cheeks. “I’m going to go learn how to become a doctor, you’re going to go learn how to be the best damn pilot the Navy has ever seen and we’re going to be good.” Again, who you were trying to convince was up for debate. You pulled your head back to instead bury it in his neck as you threw your arms around his shoulders and breathed in as much of him as you could.
“We’ll be good,” he mumbled and you knew you had to pull away… you knew you had to turn around and walk away from him but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it just yet. You wanted to stay here, right here in this airport wrapped up in his arms for the rest of your life, but you couldn’t… you had a plane to catch and dreams to follow and he did too. You pulled away suddenly, keeping your arms around him as you looked at him seriously.
“Promise me something,” you said as you fought another wave of tears.
“Anything.”
“You’re not going to wait for me, we’re not going to hold back and miss out on life waiting on a maybe.”
“Honey-” he started to protest but you shook your head.
“Promise me, Jake, otherwise I can’t get on that plane. Promise me you’re not going to wait.”
He cursed under his breath, “okay, honey. I promise.”
“And promise me you’re still my best friend,” you said, letting the tears fall now.
“Oh sweetheart, not being your best friend was never an option,” he replied and you nodded, letting your hands rest on his cheeks as you looked him over. This was the last time you would hold his head in your hands and this was the last time you would look at him as your boyfriend, because the second you boarded your plane you would be single and embarking on a whole new journey. He placed a hand on the back of your head and pulled you in, pressing his lips to yours so gently, as if he applied any pressure you’d crumble beneath him. You had other ideas, kissing him back in almost a frenzy as he matched your pace and allowed his tongue to slip past your lips, tasting you for the last time and savoring the moment as he knew it was the last. You pulled away slightly, giving him a few more gentler kisses as you swiped away the tears wetting your hands,
“I love you,” you whispered and he kissed you again.
“I love you too, honey.”

Solo Leveling Episode 12 Thoughts
The final episode of season 1 was so good! Spoilery thoughts for the anime, novel, and manhwa below:
The fights were just incredible. The animation was gorgeous, all the voice acting and music were excellent, it's just beautiful to watch. Also really loved the anime version of the manhwa scene with Lee Joohee, Song Chiyul, and Sung Jinwoo himself appearing as mental projections. It looks really good and it hits really hard, emotionally. The visual parallels are also handled well. Jinwoo is getting hammered here, and it's nicely done.
It's also interesting to learn that Woo Jinchul was also at the third Jeju Island raid! Even though he was just handling security, he was there. It's nice to emphasize how big of a deal the Jeju raids are to South Korea, because it helps with how messy stuff is later. I like how the show is focusing on trauma and its effects.
I like the emphasis on how a big part of Jinwoo's survival is luck. And I imagine some folks see this as a cheat, though I also like how it just shows the story is sticking to his own rules. It's not like the daily quest ever stopped being a thing. But also like... a lot of this is luck. When you awaken and what rank you awaken to is luck-based, and you're just kind of stuck with it (which is a good metaphor for how people are born, as well, particularly in terms of economic status; folks are randomly born to rich families/otherwise in places with a lot more resources than others and thus have a way easier time in life than other folks because resources are everything; it has nothing to do with ability, and it's massively unfair). If Jinwoo gets a little extra luck kinda because he's hyperfixated on something and it helps him survive, it's actually kind of fair, because at least that's sticking to a system of rules he ignored. And still a nice reflection on an unfair system.
Even the fights in the penalty room are amazing XD I don't go for stuff with giant insects, so the way this was a pleasure to watch was really awesome. I love the animation with Jinwoo flicking the mana potion away. I don't have any screencaps because I'd take far too many. All of the fights are good.
I still love seeing more of Choi Jongin and Cha Haein interact (with a brief cameo of a silent Lee Bora). Really glad the anime added little things like this. It's similar to what happens later, but it's nice to see them working together more.
The end of knight fight is incredible. All his movements are excellent. It's just really impressive.
It's also just really cute the way the notification window follows Jinwoo around the room as he's pondering lol
It's funny while I was reading the manhwa originally I related to this arc a lot as a former warlock player (loved running around with my army of summons who could just overwhelm any opponents, letting me stand safely in the back) but now I'm thinking of it more in terms of a death knight, particularly when Jinwoo is like, "There's no rule that says necromancers can't fight on the front lines". He is not wrong. Particularly if you've ever played the class in Diablo III, which is fun.
Tumblr media
Jinchul just looks really pretty here. I love his relationship with Go Gunhee, and I'm still glad we're getting more of it in the anime.
And the Shadow Monarch arrives XD So happy :3 I also really love the nice touch in the manhwa, which the anime included, that the portal opening is purple, foreshadowing this part in the story with all the purple. It was always going to be this way (for other reasons). But it's a nice little visual touch.
Tumblr media
Also framing this with Jinwoo being in front of the throne but slightly below it as well is really neat and also good foreshadowing.
He's so delighted by his ability XD I'm happy for him :3 Especially after he got brought so low earlier. He needs the pick-me-up. The shadow soldiers look really neat.
Tumblr media
Distracted by the shadow soldier butt highlights alkdjaldja I just alkdjlaj YES IT'S A REALLY TENSE AND FUN SCENE WITH REALLY GREAT MUSIC BUT ALSO ldkjaljalaj (yes I know what codpieces are, I just lakjdlaj). It's not bad art or anything, I am just... Distracted TM roflmao
I like that Jinwoo still apologizes to the soldiers he dismisses, but he's sadder in the novel, and even in the manhwa. In the novel he has this, “He felt bad about getting rid of any of his soldiers. Even though he’d known them for only a few minutes, he was already attached to them.” (Volume 2, Chapter 4: Shadow Monarch by Chugong, Yen Press English release). In the novel and the manhwa he also looks a bit sad about it after apologizing, and thinks on it longer. It's a really humanizing moment for him, and shows how easy it is for Jinwoo to care about and sympathize with even complete strangers, particularly when they're his responsibility. It's not the worst change, and the anime has plenty of other moments that show his humanity, but it's just one of those little things...
I'm really curious about Gunhee's neck scar: who did that and how? In the novel, it's stated that he was too old when he awakened to ever fight as a Hunter: he's never been in a dungeon. The neck scar is part of his design in the manhwa, and he's just generally heavily scarred. He's a neat character who doesn't get explored enough. Looking forward to them expanding even more on him in future cours.
Tumblr media
Shadow Igris looks so pretty. (Also there's a moment where he seems to purr around 20:48, which is I just think the sound of the movement of him standing, but it's hummy and sort of purr-like alkdjlaj and it kills me akdjlajal Purring Igris yes, thank you :3). Also, I love that the cape pops out of his back like butterfly wings alkdjalj beautiful. The way he walks around and the camera focuses on him and the click of his heels, just everything about him is so beautifully animated. I love this so much.
Ahh, I figured Jongin's expedition would find the flying ant. And so it begins.
That was such a good episode. An excellent season. Some leaks have stated that there are plans for like 6 cours or 3 regular seasons (and a PV for the end of the series with some spoilery footage), so I'm not that worried about the rest being animated (with some extra anime-original stuff, judging by how many episodes that'd be), though there will seemingly be delays. But with quality like this I'm happy to wait. I hope the crew get the time they need to make more awesome seasons without straining themselves. Ahh this was so GOOD!!!

im currently obsessed w Láeg Ulstercycle and i would love you forever if you gave me your favorite facts/anecdotes/??? about him
oh boy how long have you got
descriptions of láeg vary but the most common description of him is that he's redheaded, freckled, and tall
he always wears a cloak that's open at the elbows (makes it easier to hold the reins of the horses but also. stylish)
his origins are super obscure, but he might be from the otherworld. in one text there's an association of his parents with síd truimm. in another text, he has an otherworld connection because his parents live on a seemingly magical island, which they rule. in a super late text he's explicitly said to come from the "territory of gabra" in "the land under the wave", aka the otherworld.
but in the text that links him to síd truimm, his parents are the foster parents of cet mac mágach, who is one of the preeminent connacht warriors, so he might also have a connacht background ?? which would frankly be heartbreaking in the context of the táin
the "mac riangabra" of his name is explained as a patronymic deriving from his parents "rían" or "srían" and "gabur". rían means path and srían means bridle; gabur is a poetic word for a horse. so this might mean bridle-of-a-horse, or path-of-a-horse. if so this probably just meant "charioteer" originally and is later interpreted as a patronymic
supporting this, he has a bunch of brothers who are also charioteers: idh, who is conall's charioteer in fled bricrenn and fer diad's charioteer in the stowe version of the táin, and sedlang, who is lóegaire buadach's charioteer in fled bricrenn. conchobar's charioteer ibar, who drives cú chulainn in the "boyhood deeds" section of the táin, is also sometimes identified as "mac riangabra". there are a few other brothers floating around in various texts but idh and sedlang are the most common
so they might not have originally actually been considered brothers. it might just be a description of their job, i.e. mac riangabra = charioteer. but by the time of any of our surviving texts, they seem to be considered brothers and this gets more explicit in later material
sometimes he also has sisters. in one late text, his sister marries one of naoise mac uisneach's brothers. i can't tell you any more about that yet tho bc i haven't read that text. waiting for a friend to translate it for me
he talks to the horses a lot, especially in late texts. sometimes he recites entire poems to them
he can navigate by the stars, play strategy games, and give legal advice, so he's probably got a good brain on him
in the táin bó cúailnge there is a scene where cú chulainn sleeps for three days while his otherworldly father lug heals his wounds. láeg is present. láeg is not stated as being asleep. presumably then láeg and lug made awkward small talk for three full days. this is one of my favourite scenes to imagine
one time enemies attack while cú chulainn is asleep and láeg doesn't want to wake him up bc cú chulainn is a bitch when he's woken up, so he just fights them all for him. he kills over 100 guys over the course of two attacks. after that the enemies send a giant instead lol
sometimes he uses a sword called the "corpse-hewer" to cut the gae bolga out of people cú chulainn killed with it. this is a very laborious and messy process and can take several days
emer says that she, cú chulainn and láeg live together "in one dwelling place"
cú chulainn calls him "a phopa" (a term of respect and endearment derived from "father", usually used for an elder). láeg calls cú chulainn "a chúcúc", "a chúcán", and other diminutives – literally "little Hound"
this has been: a random assortment of facts about láeg mac riangabra, you're welcome

my love!!!!!! you are dropped on a deserted island with only the clothes on your back. you can’t take anything with you—all you get is 1 (one) of your faves to accompany you on this ultimate test of grit. who do you choose and why? what do your combined strengths accomplish?
also you CANNOT pick mr. hollow purple teleporter ❌ that would be cheating!
OOOOOOHHHHH GOOD ONE
tbh..... i'm thinking toji 😭😭
even if we were to strip him of the extra supernatural abilities, he's still like... a big strong dude LMAO i mean i'm not a weakling but i feel like certain tasks would go a lot easier/faster with his assistance
i also think he's probably one of the best at going into survival mode??? and so am i tbh like i can be rather shell-shocked at first but once i get past the initial '??? holy fuck' my brain starts kicking into gear. once things settle down i may need some silence for a while to process and think through things, but then i'm ready to start moving into action
he's probably ready from the start. he's able to take care of some immediate self-preservation things while giving me a moment to process and conjure possibilities/solutions. he's not stupid either, so i'm trusting his input, especially given his extroverted sensing cognitive functions that more easily navigate and interact with the external world
the differences between my cerebral self and his "sensing and living in the moment" self can definitely cause tension, but it can also strike a good balance if we make a conscious effort to work together. i can learn from his ability to act more immediately upon instinct, and he can learn to appreciate my innovation and problem solving skills. i can figure out a way to build a more efficient shelter, and he can help execute the handiwork LOL
also i wouldn't mind if he were around to do any hunting and whatnot. i'd do it if necessary but like..... it would be nice to not have to do that specific task lmfao
ask me any question

Hi Maya!!!! How are you? 🧡
For the Spotify wrapped game, 13 + Stucky? 🥰
Hi honey!! 💛💛 I’m good, having a wonderful day so far 🥰 I hope you’re having a great day too!!
#13 is:
And it felt impossible to pick a lyric, because about 80% of this song could work for stucky 🥺💖 but I went with these:
When you wake // I'll be right there, baby // And when you shake // I'll be shaking with you, honey // And when you get tired of this town // Let me know, we can go somewhere brand new // 'Cause when I lay my head to rest // I hope that it's always next to you
And I really didn’t expect it to get this long lol but I hope you enjoy!! 💕
They’re both so tired.
They’ve both been having nightmares, keeping them up at night. Steve doesn’t even want to imagine what horrors Bucky dreams about - the way he wakes up screaming, shouting or making hurt noises that make Steve’s heart clench painfully, are enough for him to know they can’t go on like this.
Bucky hasn’t been talking about what’s happening. There was a moment there, in Wakanda, when he seemed to be okay, lighter. But maybe a week after they stepped foot back in New York, things changed. Bucky refuses to tell Steve what’s going on, doesn’t speak when he wakes up hoarse and drenched in sweat.
Steve knows it can’t be easy - he has his own demons haunting him at night - but he feels helpless. Like he should be able to do more than just hold Bucky tight on a night that happens, do more than staying up with him until he feels calmer, safer. He just isn’t sure what that is.
It’s about 6 months into this, when they’re both exhausted - because of lack of sleep and mentally - that Bucky seems ready to talk. But what he’s saying…Steve doesn’t want to hear it.
“I think it’s better if I leave,” he says one morning, the two of them blearily drinking coffee in their kitchen, even if it does nothing for them. Steve blinks.
“Leave?” He says, not fully awake to process the meaning of what Bucky’s saying.
“You look like you haven’t slept for weeks, you never go out anymore, and I know it’s because of me Stevie. So I think it’s better if I leave.” His voice is calm, face stubborn. Steve instantly feels more awake when he finally understands what he’s saying.
“No. No Bucky, you don’t get to do that. You don’t get to blame yourself,” he says, angrily - more so with the situation than his boyfriend, angry with himself when he sees how Bucky flinches. He sighs, voice much softer when he speaks again. “I don’t think it’s better if you leave at all. Do you really think that’ll make me sleep better Buck?”
Bucky just shrugs. “Maybe.”
Steve stares at him, can feels his eyes start to burn thinking about what he has to say. “I- if you really want to leave I can’t stop you. I won’t stop you.” He reaches over the kitchen island, grabbing Bucky’s hand. “But can we talk about it first? Promise me you won’t just leave,” he asks, begs.
Bucky squeezes his hand, eyes a little wet. “Promise,” he croaks.
It takes another week for Bucky to talk to him about it. In the meantime, they dance around it. Steve hates it. When will they get a fucking break?
They’re on the couch one evening, a movie playing neither of them is paying much attention to. “I don’t think being here is good for me,” Bucky says suddenly.
“Here? Here as in…” Please god let him not say he means with Steve. He doesn’t think he can survive that. He feels guilty enough as it is that he can’t do anything to make things easier for Bucky.
“I think being in the city…” Steve lets out a rush of breath he wasn’t aware he was holding, “I thought it was a good idea, to go home, go back to normal. But what’s normal even for the two of us right now?”
Steve doesn’t have answer to that, so he says nothing.
“I think…being in Wakanda was good for me,” Bucky says.
“You wanna go back?” Steve asks. He’ll get them on a flight tomorrow, tonight, if that’s what Bucky wants, needs.
“I- I don’t know. I don’t think it’s a magical cure to everything but…the peace and quiet…maybe it’s…” Bucky trails off.
“Yeah, I think I get what you mean,” Steve says, thinking. Bucky turns back to the tv, conversation apparently over.
When they go to bed later that night, Steve sends out a couple of texts before turning off the lights.
It takes another week for everything to be done. They wake up on a Saturday morning, early, after a night full of interrupted sleep. Steve waits until they’re having breakfast to tell him.
“I- I probably should’ve asked you about this earlier,” he says a little sheepishly. Sometimes he’s such an idiot. He got caught up in his plans for them so much he didn’t even ask Bucky first.
Bucky frowns at him, shaking his head. “What did you do?”
“I- well, you don’t have to say yes. But if you want to…” he trails off, opening his texts with Tony to show Bucky what he’s been working on. “Sam can be here in an hour to help us pack. If you want.”
Bucky stares at Steve’s phone for a while, and when he looks up, there are tears in his eyes but a smile on his face. “Yeah. Yeah, I want to.”
Steve smiles back, probably a little too long. He’s just so relieved. “Yeah,” he says, “yeah, okay, I’ll text Sam.”
They’re on the road, most of their belongings packed in the van Sam rented. They’re not taking any furniture, the place comes furnished - thanks to Pepper, who calmly listened to whatever Steve rambled about wanting, who just said she’d get it done, and did - and they’re not too attached to most of the things they have.
It’s not too long of a drive to upstate New York. Before they know it, the bustling city and traffic make way for quieter roads and small towns, until they leave even those behind them, and there’s mostly forrest and farmland.
When they pull up to the house, Steve doesn’t even notice, eyes on Bucky to gauge his reaction. Bucky doesn’t say anything, just looks out the front window of the van, mouth gaping open. “This it?” He finally asks, quietly.
“Yeah Buck. It’s ours, for as long as you want.”
Bucky nods. They sit there for a little while, in silence. “Okay.”
They get out of the van, leaving their things in it for the moment, while they go explore. It’s a renovated farmhouse, with a small piece of land attached, surrounded by forrest. The only sounds are those of the nature around them. It’s not Wakanda, but it’s peaceful. It’s quiet, and it’s theirs, and it could be home.
They walk through the house, going from room to room, Steve following Bucky around, holding his breath a little. When they’re back in the living room, Bucky turns to face him.
He’s smiling. “I- I love it.”
“Yeah?” Steve asks, unable to keep the relief out of his voice.
“Yeah,” Bucky says, pulling Steve in for a hug. “Thank you,” he murmurs into Steve’s neck. They stay like that for who knows how long, just holding each other tight, before they make their way back to the van to bring their boxes and suitcases in.
They pack away half of their things that same day, and by the time they have dinner the place feels even more like theirs. When they fall asleep that night, both tired of the move, it’s one of the easier nights they’ve had in a while.
It doesn’t magically change everything. But going away was the right move. A fresh start. He can feel things change. He can see Bucky opening up more, slowly making his way to being ready to talk about the things that haunt him. He can see how the both of them are more at ease, here, just them. Just them, and eventually, cats and dogs and chickens and goats.
Bucky starts to go to therapy - over zoom. They settle into a new life, a new home, taking care of their animals, learning new hobbies, relearning about themselves and each other.
It’s six months later. Steve’s just coming inside from locking up the animals for the night, kicking off his boots in the mud room and hanging up his coat. He hears sounds from the kitchen, the tap turning off as Bucky finishes doing the dishes from their dinner. He goes to him, wrapping his arms around Bucky and pressing his chest to Bucky’s back, his head in the crook of his neck. He can feel Bucky smile against him.
Eventually, they let go, going to the couch to watch a movie. They’ve found a couple of new favorites they often rewatch - a lot of them animated movies or set in space - but they try something new all the time, and tonight, Bucky puts on a romcom and they curl up together on the couch. Steve misses half of it, too busy staring at Bucky, who’s completely hooked on the story, laughing and cringing and giving running commentary.
He just looks at Bucky, at how beautiful his face looks when he laughs, thinking about how in awe he is of him, his strength, his ability to feel and express so much joy after all they’ve been through. Steve doesn’t think he’s ever been this happy, this at peace. He thinks it’s probably true for the both of them.
When the movie finishes, they get ready for bed. Maybe Steve is as much of a sap as Bucky accuses him to be sometimes, feeling a rush of emotion come over him when the realization sets in that this is their life now, while they’re brushing their teeth side by side. Working on the farm, cooking, drawing, reading, dancing, watching movies. Just all the domestic things he never thought they’d have, not like this, not as peacefully or as joyfully as it’s been in recent weeks.
They’re both a little tired. The good kind, the one after a long but satisfying day.
They fall asleep easily, that night, every night - heads on the same pillow, completely intertwined.

To the corner store and back with @thesurestthing and Eleanor to get fresh ginger for dinner. There are probably a dozen or so little stores within a few blocks of us--most of them just little sari-saris, but a few actual tiny grocery stores, as well. (Also, my hair looks white here because of the lighting lol. but it's actually getting darker and thicker now that the stress of El's stateless status has been relieved, thanks to y'all.)
Dude, I love Baguio. I love the Philippines. And pain meds have kicked in (although my leg is still killing me), so I'm gonna get talkative about it.
We had to live someplace we could survive on my disability, so how fortunate that we could find a beautiful college city in the mountains of a tropical island. We live on probably 1/5 of what we'd need in the US, but we also do without some of the amenities we took for granted in the states.
And even though we're working (slooowly) on learning Tagalog (and later, Ilocano), English being one of the two official national languages makes things much easier. Tagalog IS hard to learn, especially when nearly everyone laughs at my pronunciation. Zoey had learned more than I have--Everyone just assumes she's a native Filipina even though she was born and raised in California, and had never been here until she flew over to meet me, so she's picked up a bit more.
On languages--There are over 120 languages on the over 7,000 islands that make up this country. The official ones are Filipino (a constructed language that is basically Tagalog with a ton of loan words) and English, but although pretty much everyone speaks both of those to some degree, we want to learn the local Ilocano language eventually, as well.

This isn't exactly a relationship problem in the traditional sense of the term but I suppose you're probably the only person that could help me out with this.
My girlfriend got warped into a nerdy slob, has been for a while now. It's something that we both learned to embrace, she loves how she is now, and as a nerdy guy myself its great for us to be able to connect on that kinda stuff now. The slobbiness was a little harder to get used to but I've come to enjoy it as well.
The problem is my friends and family. Formerly our friends. They think I'm nuts, they avoid her like the plague now (saying she smells like the plague too) and I can understand why to an extent but with the way they talk about her like she's a brand new person. Which I think we both know is complete bull. My parents have always been "TF-Phobic" if that's a term, after my sister had been turned into a cougar they outright stopped inviting her to family events, eventually she took the hint and basically only talks to me now.
Of course, when they realized my brilliant sexy hiker girlfriend now enjoyed a nice evening of anime, video games and greasy, salty chips, they freaked out. I predict that if I still plan on marrying her my sister may very well be my best man (or best woman I guess lol).
My friends are just being jerks about it, thinking it's a fetish thing no matter how much i tell them otherwise and even suggest I'm happy she's been changed in the first place! Similar ribs and a general reluctance to let her come to our usual hangouts paint a pretty clear picture to me.
No idea how my girlfriend's old friend group are dealing with her changes but she doesn't seem too bothered about it. I met some of her new gaming/anime buddies online and they're nice enough.
So this is what I'm dealing with, I guess as a shrink you probably hear about stupid woes like this all the time, hope I'm not bothering you with this. I suppose I'd just appreciate some thoughts on all this. Thank you so much for taking the time to read all this. I hope you're having better luck with your own issues.
I’m sorry your friends and family have chosen to treat you and her like this. I’m also happy to hear your relationship was able to survive the change, I know that takes a lot of work, and dedication, so good for both of you.
I don’t really have a magic way to convince them to become more tolerant and inclusive. You can only stand up for yourself and clearly communicate that their comments towards you and your girlfriend are hurtful, and if they value you in their lives they’ll stop it immediately.
If they can’t respect your request, and boundaries then it’s time to drop em’. Easier said than done, but hopefully it won’t come to that. If you make your boundaries clear, then I find people will generally respect them.
Besides that your girlfriend has already found a new group of friends, and you’ve got your sister, so it’s not like you’ll be stranded on an island if you do cut these toxic elements out of your life.
And just know you’re not the only person to go through this. Couples have been battling with their communities since the dawn of time to be with who they want. You’ll survive and make the best decision for you and your partner.

I absolutely adore atwccd, as sad as it is, it's a really cool idea to explore. You start the story thinking at the characters 'if you are reaped and die quickly in the arena may be the best case scenario for you' because surviving in the games might be easier than surviving as a victor.
Your writing is great, like, this is a Hunger Games AU so on some level I can guess what is going to happen because I know the source (the books) and read the tags, but is still unexpected, I had the same ice cold realization Annabeth has that her life is not the one she should be worried about, even if I knew the story of Percy's sponsor was coming. But I didn't see the whole thing with the reaping and the threat towards Estelle coming! Real gut punch there!
Like I said, cool idea to explore because the story really sucks you in
But at the same time I'm thinking : this is a very sad story, but you're actually posting it so... What in the world was that UFS sequel about for it to never see the light of the sun? ☀️🤣
aah thank you!! I'm so happy you're enjoying it so far <33 That's exactly what I was hoping people would get out of it, so it makes me really happy to hear that feedback!!! I think most of y'all basically know what's coming, but I think it's safe to say I have one more trick up my sleeve for the last chapter lol
As for the UFS sequel... oh boy 😅 in some ways its really not as bad as atwccd, but I think it's more the blatant tone shift from UFS to the unnamed sequel that would be jarring to people than the content, necessarily.
The thing about UFS (and I am about to go on a Tangent here but I rarely have an excuse to talk about it so I have to take whatever chances I can get) is that I wrote it after taking a post-colonial literature class with an absolutely brilliant professor who really changed my point of view on a lot of things and really expanded the ways in which I view literature. UFS is really heavily inspired by a lot of themes that are common in post-colonial lit; homecomings, fractured or conflicting allegiances, otherness/the struggle to belong, etc.
UFS obviously has a happy ending (or bittersweet, whatever, mostly happy) but that's almost entirely because you get to imagine what happens next. The mysterious island paradise Percy (and eventually Annabeth) call home is a paradise because we know nothing about it. We don't know its complexities, or what struggles its faced in its isolation, or how Annabeth will adjust to such an extreme difference.
There's an idea in post-colonial literature that the homeland is often viewed as a paradise, this faultless, unreachable place. That if you could just go home, everything would be okay. But there are also a lot of books that subvert this idea (my favorite being White Teeth by Zadie Smith), that say that no, actually, home is not perfect. Home may be more fucked up than where you are now. Home may not even exist anymore, not how you remember it.
I think UFS itself very much plays into the first idea (home is paradise, home fixes everything, if you can go home you will be saved) and the ideas I have for the sequel play into the second (home will not solve your problems, home might actually fuck you up more). And I just think that would make people really sad and I don't want to do it 😭
so like, TLDR: the things I put them through are bad but not atwccd bad, but its mostly the way that it would ruin the perception of the ending of UFS that makes me hesitate to ever post any of it.

Ark map tier list?
ark map tier list. for u anon. I'll even give u a whole breakdown cause I love talking about this game.
Tumblr media
S Tier
Ragnarok - I remember when rag released and everyone lost their goddamn minds. It was and still is such a good map, I remember the frantic rush to be the first on the server to have griffins or steal wyvern eggs, especially ice wyvern eggs. Ragnarok is an absolutely beautiful map and I've built some of my all time fav bases on there, I'll have to see if I can find some pics. It has a lot to it in terms of creatures, caves, base locations, and scenery. Its got a lot to it, and theres even a good amount of hidden easter eggs if you look hard enough. I'd very much recommend rag for any beginner ark players out there, trust me it is easier than the island lol. plus u can get dragons.
Fjordur - Fjordur is just....such an amazing map I don't even have words. Nekatus really outdid himself. It is beyond gorgeous, like, some jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery. It has so much to it, there's so many places to go and so many things to explore, so many secrets to find, so many bosses to kill and so many creatures to tame. I will say I am a little disappointed in Fenrir, but hey, nothin a mod can't fix. Or a lil bit of research on the inis for console players. Plus, all the realms are just so fucking cool. Me and my friends built a massive Viking village in Asgard, I'll make sure to get pics next time I'm on that server. The caves r so fun, and all the bossfights are amazing. I really, really love the boss system they had set up. Its so unique and gave us so much to do, plus the final boss, fenrisulfr (pronoucned fenris-ulver btw) is such a fun fight. I had an absolute blast, also I absolutely love the new dinos. Much more than the lost island ones but we'll get to that.
Aberration - Screaming and frothing at the mouth. How do I even begin to describe how amazing aberration is. Its a hauntingly beautiful map, and the lore is so good. Did you know that you can hear the whispers of the survivors rockwell killed and trapped? its creepy as hell but its just so cool. its just such a unique experience as compared to the rest of ark. Theres no flyers, yet its got some of the most dangerous dinos in the game lurking around every corner. Aberration and scorched are tied for the hardest map imo. Its super fun to play on, and in terms of creatures its got some of the best new ones. I love rock drakes I would die for them.
A Tier
The island - I'll be honest, this ones mostly just here cause of nostalgia lol. I've been playing since day 1, I remember ark before it even had all its biomes. I remember a time when the volcano was just a mountain with a hole in the top, a time when pvp was just a bunch of naked people running around with bolas and spears, when having a rex made you a god, and most of all: When mammoths had buttholes and sabers had nutsacks. Sorry I had too lol. But anyways, the islands still a pretty solid map. Its like, the base map that everyone starts out on but its harder than a lot of the maps lol. Its extremely fun, and it has some fun caves. The boss fights will always be classics to me, Does anyone else remember when the monkey's boulders could hurt the rider? that was fun. The island may not be the best map, but it always has a special place in my heart.
Extinction - Not a ton to say about extinction, its certainly a fun map and the creatures are pretty amazing, I love adhd puppies and turret raptors lol. But its not that fun to actually like, survive on. Extinctions more fun when ur playing on a cluster with access to other maps. I do like OSD's and the boss fights are fr some of the best in the game, and I absolutely adore the ost. Probably my fave tbh lol
Crystal isles - This map is like, beyond beautiful and I do really, really like the crystal wyverns. But it was rather disappointing, I mean we all kinda expected them to remove the cool variants and stuff, but I feel like removing most of the cool variants the original mod had took away a lot from the maps charm. Plus, the removal of rock drakes was just such a let down for me. I do quite like the map still, and its very fun to play on and build bases on, as well as the wyverns, they're super fun, but it doesn't do much to compel me to play on it besides just getting crystal wyverns.
B Tier
Lost island - The big thing that tanks this map for me is its new creatures. Lost islands fun ig, but it just feels like an upgraded version of the island. Its pretty, and it does have manas so yay, but still. Its fun, but there's nothing that really makes it stand out besides being the only free map with manas on it. And as I mentioned before, I really do not like the new creatures. The dinopithecus is just a reskinned thyla with the Ferox's animation, I guess it has the poop stuff but it's just a very underwhelming creature. I feel like people voted for it more because of the memes than actually wanting it. The amargas…okay, I guess. but it doesn't really add anything and is a huge pain to tame, it doesn't feel very worth it. The Sinos prolly the best out of the 3, its a pretty good travel dino, and I call them rich man's glide suits lol. Also I hate the boss fight and the caves are very much not fun.
Gen 2 - Don't get me wrong, I do like gen 2, and I feel like it approved upon a lot of gen 1's issues and added some super awesome new items into the game, but it also completely destroyed the pvp meta lol. This is very much just personal preference, but I'm not super big on all the tek sci fi stuff. I mean it is fun to use the tek bow as well as like the hoversail. Gen 2 was very heavily biased towards the pvpers, which isn't bad, but as a pve player its just that a lot of the new dinos and items aren't worth getting for me. The stryder is useful I guess but being unable to cryo it...oof lol. Maewings and shadowmanes are also useful, but like the Noglin, Astrodelphis, and Voidwyrm are completely useless in pvp. The delphis is just a fancy way to get around, the Noglin has zero use in pve, and the voidwyrm is just a wyvern that doesn't do breath dmg. They're all cool lookin dinos I guess, but again just not much of a reason for me to tame them since they're a pain in the ass. I like gen 2's scenery, rockwells garden and the eden zone are cool and pretty but to me, they aren't as pretty as like fjordur or aberration. The R-dinos were cool, but I can get all those on other maps. Cool map, and it sent ark out with a bang, but still its meh for me.
Valguero - I do quite like it, but I don't like it enuf to put it on A tier lol. I adore deinonychus and its a pretty fun map to run around on, its also super pretty and I have built some dope ass bases, but its still just not a map I play on much or have much of a reason to go on. I can get deinons on a ton of different maps, so I pretty much go over there to make a cool base lol.
C Tier
Theres only one map on here lol. I do kinda like scorched, its fun, but its just not super enjoyable. I don't hate it or anything, but I don't consider it as good as anything on B tier. It gave us wyverns and has some good base locations, as well as being the first story map, it does offer a pretty fun challenge but much like extinction its more fun on a cluster than it is alone. Its caves are like, super fun tho, I love scorched's caves and I always have a blast doing them. Buuut I wouldn't say they're like, as good as fjordurs or anything. Okayish map, just not a fav.
D Tier
Gen 1 - eugh...I made a whole other post for gen 1 and this is getting long so imma just link that and give a summary here: the missions suck balls, its biomes are lame, and I don't like it lol.
The center - I'll be honest, I totally forgot this existed lol. I do not like the center. I know its fun for pvpers but eh. It was fun back in the day, but nowadays you can just go spend ur time on another map and have more fun. I don't really like the scenery either, very, very forgettable and idk anyone who goes over to the center for any reason lol.
and thats it! sorry for the long post I love ark and I love talking abt it.

from the weird questions for writers: 1, 3, 10, 23, 27. from the one before that: 2, 11, 15, 39, 47. i mean i already mostly know the answers but ... lmao
OH BOY.
Weird questions for writers:
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
The font I use during drafts depends on narration! libaw = Arial, TDL = Courier New, anything in third person = Times. For a final version I usually switch to Times regardless of project.
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
Get coffee
Open laptop
Open documents
Put on music/a background video
Write
Honestly I feel like the most/only cursed aspect of this very standard ritual is that more writing = more coffee, lmao. I can write 8k words in a day... but at what cost?
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
Being haunted by something, to me, means not being able to forget about it, so you carry it with you - often to an extent that it becomes a part of you. Pieces of writing that truly haunt me have lived in my head rent-free for years. When it's my writing, I barely go a day without those pieces crossing my mind, and I often have a bittersweet relationship with them.
My own writing: "Sixteen Minutes" and Life in Black and White, mostly, as well as one other document that's connected to Life in Black and White but that I haven't shared with anyone. It's technically untitled, but I call it "to the moon."
Not my writing: Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, Othello, the poem "Good Bones" by Maggie Smith, Wuthering Heights... I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
I write everywhere and anywhere, but the most common ones: in my bed with my lamp on, surrounded by a bunch of blankets and pillows, my cat, and with music or a video playing in the background. On the morning bus listening to EDM. On the evening train listening to EDM or a story playlist. In a coffee shop with a latte bowl and my music.
27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?
Gabriel, hands down, because he's the most complex character I've ever written and it's very important to me to get his portrayal right. Easier said than done, as the last 14.5 years of work can attest to. Also just like, the... the reptilian-brained life choices on this man. Jesus Christ.
OC development asks:
2. Which ocs are most likely to be caught eating cheese at 3 am?
libaw: Daphne, Katie, Gabriel, in that order. You'd think it'd be Jeff, but he (mostly) "doesn't do" cheese.
TDL: not applicable lol. I feel like Hitman sometimes eats honey buns at random hours in the morning though.
supernova: Seven (deuteragonist), Romy (protag's lab colleague)
Velocity: Jackie (T.J.'s mom). Jackie is by far the most "eats cheese at 3am" character I have.
11. which ocs have to be reminded to take breaks?
Gabriel (libaw), Spencer (supernova; "what's a break?"), sometimes Jackie (velocity) but less so as the story progresses, T.J. (velocity), Harvin (velocity).
15. which ocs are too self-sacrificial?
GABRIEL AND SPENCER (side note, I'm laughing at how many things they have in common in these questions because they are so radically different as people). Seven (Supernova) selectively (ie. has a specific allegiance). Also Jenna to an extent, Daphne for certain people and in certain situations, Isabelle (libaw) to an extent, sometimes Catricia (libaw) when it comes to her patients because she gets overly involved. Wouldn't describe anyone in TDL as self-sacrificial because it's basically a matter of survival to not be in their case.
39. which ocs set multiple alarms? which only need one? which don’t set alarms at all?
Multiple alarms: Spencer (Supernova) increasingly throughout the story, Gabriel (libaw) because he's on Seroquel.
One alarm: Jenna (libaw), Romy (Supernova), everyone in TDL because they're always woken up in the morning lol.
No alarms: Jeff (libaw) because he's a morning person who randomly wakes up at the asscrack of dawn despite frequently going to bed late.
47. Which ocs use the “wrong” dishes for things purely to spite others who can’t stand it? (like drinking coffee off a plate)
Jeff lmao. "Relaaaaax, Killjoy, I'm just yanking your chain." s/o to the time he was high on dilaudid and drinking beer out of a straw.

SFH ✹ ✈ and gimme another ✿
 ✹ favorite character
The dramatic craftsman that enjoys causing problems on purpose and looking at other men's Adam's apples.
✈ character I’d rather be stuck on an island with
My girl Jeonghwa. She has probably received some training on how to survive that + could build things to make our lives easier on the island, if not straight up a raft for us to get out of there. She'd also be the most pleasant company, especially in the most stressful and upsetting situations.
(My second option was Moonjo because he's the closest thing to a doctor among the other characters, and I could eventually need medical attention, but 1) I'm not sure he would save me if he could; 2) I don't think it's a good idea to stay alone with a cannibal for too long—especially when I don't know how much food is available in this imaginary island).
✿ fluffy headcanon
When Jieun woke up, she had one tooth missing, but she didn't know what had happened to it. She only discovered the day she was visiting Jongwoo's room at the hospital and caught him sleeping on his side, with his wrist against his chest, wearing a bracelet of teeth that probably belonged to the serial killer who had kidnapped her. At the sight, she felt uneasy, unsafe, and even disgusted, but, most of all, she felt betrayed. She didn't know if one of the teeth was hers for sure, but any of them could be. That man could have done anything with it. And here was Jongwoo, holding onto that horrid thing. It was pretty clear where his loyalties lie. If she was more important than whatever twisted thing those two had going on, there was no way Jongwoo would keep the bracelet of the man who had hurt her. No way he would sleep with it, as if afraid someone would take it away when he closed his eyes.
[**This sounds way too angsty so I feel like I need to clarify that the fluffy part is in Jongwoo sleeping with the bracelet on lol]

oh em gee i think you finally let me put my finger on why i have less passion for it all now
i loved that practice server and I'm sorry but i hate mcc island (too overwhelming with noise and people, snipers annoy me, games take too long and are too different, no pkt, pkw or dogebolt)
i really loved all the different creators joining in random groups, practicing against each other and the leaderboard competitions, just seeing people idling on it. But mcci has effectively taken all that away - no random groups of people just happening to be playing together, no fun bets or competitions to beat a leaderboard, and no excitement at seeing it get busier and busier before the event as everyone hangs out more in wait of it - I really miss that!
mcci looks like fun, but I miss the cc's all hanging out on each other's stream on the practice server :(
hard agree actually which is funny because i was so excited for mcci when it was announced. i actually got my admission ticket about two months ago and haven’t logged on yet despite the fact i used to want to play it so bad to the extent where i was too jealous to watch streamers play it LOL
i hate stream snipers with a passion tbh. it’s why i have never really enjoyed bedwars streams unless it’s a tired twt closed lobby. i don’t care if they’re “nice” snipers it truly takes all the fun out of the gameplay for me. i think if mcci implements a good system for closed games (if they have one im sorry i didnt know LOL) there might be able to be a bit more practice that just consists of mcc participants and maybe other creators that aren’t in mcc but want to participate. like well i guess he’s not a creator but i always wished callahan could play with them and he would be able to on mcci, but it’s not as interesting to me if they’re playing against stream snipers.
i think mcci serves a different purpose for them than the practice server. like they’re partially largely different games and different people playing them. mcci is for everyone but the practice server will always be catered to them specifically. but i also don’t think they’ll put much into the practice server now that mcci is up and running because mcci is their revenue source (which is fair ig just sad for me as a viewer lol). like the privacy of the practice server gave it a similar appeal to the dsmp or hermitcraft in some ways even though it’s not a survival server. like it’s a place to practice and grind out the ace race leaderboard but it was also just a place to hang out and it’s easier to hang out in a server with a hundred people than one with several thousand

If you got to write re4-part 2, what would you do?
This might get long so u get a read more lol
To preface—I’ve never played RE beyond playing bits of RE4 and then watching my brother beat it (I am a jumpy person with anxiety leave me be 😩). I don’t even consider myself an RE fan, I am in the most basic sense, an RE4 fan. So everything I say will likely get subverted because of some canon event I’m unaware of. ANYWAY.
I love RE4R because it’s overall a better narrative that lines up with current canon (I’m aware of some RE lore lol). It’s also just a better told story than RE4 in so many ways. So whatever I say will relate to remake.
Let’s say anything after the events of 4 have yet to happen, here’s the possible routes I’d take
The obvious—get plaga in different hands that’s not umbrella
The cliche—have Leon relapse with plaga
Not so cliche but pushing suspension of disbelief—have someone who is a carrier of plaga/asymptomatic carrier of plaga leave the island
Lastly, because I’m insufferable—Luis survives (some fucking how) and has a duplicate superior plaga with him (some fucking how)
Leon relapsing can be the most emotionally driven narrative if RE was no longer an action game. Like RE4, I imagine he’s struggling to control himself and it would be a race against time once again. Without the machinery that helped him cure it the first time, he’d kinda be be shit outta luck and it would be up to…idk Claire because she’s cool…or Ada because…it’s Ada lol to help Leon before he turns. Essentially, ur controlling anyone but Leon to solve it. But part of the gameplay is Leon surviving and being controlled and it gets slowly harder and harder but if u give into plaga controlling Leon gets easier. Then boom ur back in Spain, u learn that umbrella europe team left paper trails. Another branch is still researching plaga blah blah big bad is trying raise another cult bc cults are interesting. Marketing for this game would be painting Leon as an enemy like they did with Dante in DMC4 LOL.
Having another carrier is easy. Idk u learn that someone survived the village and is roaming some city as a refugee. Like idk maybe this person has plaga version 2.0 that can idk self breed and spread by contact. It’s pretty straight forward. Plot twist is that patient 0 didn’t know they were infected and no else did either. God that’s so cliche, you’d have to make a really good story for that to work. Either way they should end it by having a choice to kill the carrier/patient 0.
NOW IMAGINE IF LUIS SURVIVED (I do this everyday because I am unwell)—this would be very emotionally driven knowing damn well that Luis was involved with plaga (I think he’s involved with RE3 too which is cool). Idk he has another version of plaga because idk he was researching 2 different strains, and like it’s almost a war between two variants because Ada gave hers to someone. So like whatever Leon is fighting and shit and they’re like, the only way to beat this is with a stronger strain (and science). AND THEN, someone keeps dropping hints (it’s Ada cuz she be doing shit like that) like a trail to follow and then they’re like chasing this trail, but whomever is at the end realizes they’re being followed, so theyre hard to catch. Anyway like 3/4 into the game they catch them and it’s no one other than LUIS. And then drama ensues like “bitch I thought I were dead, wtf ur working on a different strain still??” and like u learn he’s still trying to make amends and has a new name and identity given by idk the US government because that’s just the kinda environment they’re in lol. Also Luis deserves to be petty, he should try and kill Ada. I would lol. She got the fuckin plaga anyway, sure I know it was not thru Luis but it’s SO UNFAIR he died and she got what she needed.
I stand by what I say about Luis that THEY CERTAINLY GAVE HIM A PHENOMENAL BACKGROUND FOR A SIDE CHARACTER. Idk his death was that more gratifying but also painful—that’s another essay I can write about
I’m not a writer so my ideas are really flat. But part of RE4s charm was its simplicity and stellar gameplay.

resending this so i'm really sorry if i miss answering anything from your reply rip jdksdj but hi again dreamy, hope you got better 🥰 it's refreshing looking at someone take it seriously though, most people lightly answer it and, even though i like hearing all kinds of answers, it tell a lot about the person too i believe! i feel like i'd also pick someone who has good survival skills/is a fast learner over someone i'd have to worry about on top of being stranded on an island and thinking about food, shelter communication etc.! then maybe a spare change of clothes? they can be used as bandages, to keep warm if it's chilly/cold & you can alternate between that and what you're wearing instead of sticking to the same set of clothes you arrived in haha as for my final choice, hm... maybe transceivers? something that can help us get in contact with people who can help as i think you can always use wood/leaves/bones as tools/weapons! that is a lovely combination of colours too⏤i immediately imagine a room/interior when people tell me their favourite colour/s and yours is a lovely mainly black/dark grey + whites room with rose gold + slight mustard accents; very elegant & chic! i myself like neutral tones a lot :D but these days i'm into deep greys, muted blues/lilacs and gold! oh and i just saw the languages ask, i must've mixed things up, my bad! but i see, did you learn korean + italian or grasped it/grew up with it? i think english is the only langauage i can say i'm 100% fluent in kdjfdalk but other than that i can speak arabic, enough french and korean to be able to get by if i were to be randomly stranded in the countries, an embarrassingly small bit of chinese despite it being my mother tongue and a teenie tine amount of turkish and swedish. my maternal grandpa knows like 8 languages and he'd speak to us in all of them ever since we were younger so we started understanding a bit of each & my uncle's entire family speaks swedish so we like asking our cousins to speak it 😂 do you like travelling/is there a place you'd like to travel to? oh, and! what's your favourite dessert? - 🌨
oh im glad it came through this time!
most of my apartment is pretty much white and black so you're definitely on to something with your visualization lol i do have a few lighter pinks thrown in but sadly no yellows. most of my decor is like witchy like black cats and moons and things so I don't know how well a lot of color would really work lol
the italian i can speak i learned from my grandfather growing up and i think its starting to leak out of my brain the more i try to stuff korean into it lol korean i've tried to learn through books and videos and things to grasp it so kpop is a little easier to get but i think i have the ability of a like a preschooler lmao so not too helpful but i think i could get myself some basic needs if i was lost in korea fssgd
i havent traveled a lot because its so expensive to go places here, but ive been to disney world before, and nyc a bunch of times. I’d really love to go to australia or new zealand tho! australia has so many sharks and philips island which is supposed to be so cool! and ive been a big lotr nerd forever so new zealand is very big on my list lol
as for dessert im a big cheese cake person and i love tiramisu <3
i cant believe its already almost christmas i feel like we started this so recently!

Was the hardest part of writing? What's the easiest?
For both of your pairings, what would their last words to each other be? What would their reactions be when they realize they survive?
If they were on a desert island, would they survive? How?
The hardest part of writing (other than dialogue. F*ck I hate dialogue) is actually getting started.  Like, why is it so hard? how come I know how I want to start but can’t seem to do it?  The easiest is...omg...I don’t even know.    Tyler and Esme together are very easy to write. So I’ll say their dynamic.  that’s the easier part of writing for me.
So for Tyler and Esme, it will forever be “I’ll see you when I see you.”  He has been saying this to her since Dhaka. So they’re together for 13 years now, and he still says every time he goes away for work.  She’s known to use it as well, to keep on his toes ;).   But that will always be their last words to each other.  For Steve and Maizie, that’s a bit harder.  Maizie will probably be that she loves him.  Because damn it, despite how f*cked she is, she really does love him.  Steve,  I think his last words would be to blame her (or someone else) for something.
For Tyler and Esme, they’ve been there. Thinking they were going to die (well him, that’s for sure) and then coming out on the other side. Maybe in tact or doing too well, but at least alive.  So it’s always a lot of relief.  The last time he was in a position like that, he wrote a ‘death letter’ as the military calls it and gave it to a friend. So if anything happened, she was to get the letter. And his wedding ring.   He survived, and that friend hold onto the letter for a few years and then when they renewed their wedding vows, Tyler gave it to her before the ceremony.   So she could read it.
Steve is actually alive (he supposed died in the movie) so there’s going to be a lot surrounding that. For her to deal with.  Relief being the first thing, of course.  But a lot of anger that he abandoned her and sold her out basically.
Oh Tyler and Esme would survive for sure.  Tyler (thanks to being in special services) has great survival skills and  can live off the land. So Esme would be okay.
Steve and Maizie?  Omg. She’d know more about fishing, hunting etc than he would.  She might survive, but she’d be liable to kill him because he’d piss her off so badly lol
