BSD Figure skating AU !!!

I've had this idea bouncing round my head for so long because I skate and i need the drama of the sport as the main plotline in the fic for ONCE instead of romance so HERE WE GO:

Also some context before i go; this is written BEFORE the ISU raised the age limit for seniors from 15 to 17, so this will reflect that. In this AU, it is based loosely off both current skaters and former skaters, ill make another post about who each character is modelled after, BUT the time periods these skaters are from fluctuate from now all the way back to 2014, so in this AU the only quads that have been landed by men are 4 toeloop and Salchow, and none in the womans. COOL NOW ON WITH THE RAMBLE!!!!

Dazai Osamu, prodigy figure skater under infamous coach Mori Ougai. He, alongside his teammate, friend and rival Nakahara Chuuya, sweep Juniors for their first two seasons, with Dazai winning every competition he enters.

Commentators and experts describe him as the future of figure skating and claim he has a talent that can't be trained. This includes very limited amounts of pre-rotation despite Mori's way of coaching (which teaches his skaters to rotate from the back instead of the hips), incredible artistry, and beautiful spins

Both him and Chuuya are tagged to be the two most likely contenders for the gold medal in the next olympic cycle, which as of their first junior season, is 3 years away, over current senior world champion and current 2 time Olympic Gold medallist Dostoyevsky and the Japanese National Champion at the time, Edogawa Ranpo.

Two years later, in their first senior season, Dazai becomes the youngest Japanese man to complete the grand slam, winning every competition he entered, beating out Fyodor by a heavy margin

This all points towards Dazai being the next olympic champion and subsequently he qualifies for the national team.

The next season starts out strong when he once again takes the GPF gold, and then wins again at the japanese nationals

At the olympics, Dazai is chosen twice for the Team event, making history by breaking multiple records and acquiring the gold for the team. Everything points to him sweeping the individual event the next week.

However, in the days before the individual event, a japanese news outlet reports that Dazai had failed a drug test during Nationals earlier that year.

At first Mori stays quiet, until he gives some half hearted excuse shifting the blame off of himself whilst the media continue to hound Dazai, and other skaters become animous towards him, blaming him for doping/ruining the competition.

Dazai is allowed to compete, and as a result, the prediction of three years that he would take gold is flushed down the drain as he fumbles through both programs, placing in 4th.

The hearing for his doping case is adjourned soon after, finding him innocent. He is reinstated for competition just before worlds, where fans expect him to take Gold and reclaim his title after the mess at the olympics.

He doesn't and proceedes to bomb out at worlds, later withdrawing from the world team trophy and not being heard from all summer.

The next season, Dazai comes back for test skates, visibly injured and distressed, abandoning Mori's coaching team the week after in favour of Fukuzawa and former world champion and japanese skating legend Oda Sakunosuke.

Reading excuses for being ia is boring so apologies in advance. Also this isn't supposed to be like a pity party thing istg this rlly standard shit dw about me

But I'm so sorry for being away for a minute. PTSD, depression, anxiety the usual PLUS I've been dealing with a pretty heavy drug addiction/withdrawal, rehab, y'know the shit show that that is. I'm hella dosed to deal with the symptoms from withdrawal and trying to not let my entire life fall into disrepair (the world doesn't stop when you do, ain't that the truth) so it might be a little while before I'm properly posting decent content.

But I just wanna say that the influx of support on my posted fics has meant the world to me, I never expected to receive this kind of a reaction. I love u guys so much, I'm gonna go stare at the wall in a drug induced stupor

Most of these got caused by Knetizens and Carats were almost never involved - they made up maybe 5% of the people that spread those rumours about her and turned them into scandals.

Her Silence During KCon USA (July, 2019)

Not even a month after Netizens demanded a withdrawal from the group due to her close “friendship” to former iKon member Kim Hanbin, the social media users started commenting on SEVENTEEN’s Minnie facial expressions as well as on- and off-stage persona during and after KCon USA.

The group had just landed in Seoul when Netz were quick to be back on Twitter and to question and criticise the dancer’s appearance:

“She can’t hide her face forever, she has to talk about the drug scandal. If she stays quiet like that, she’ll just get more suspicious”

“Even at kcon she barely ever smiled, she didn’t dance properly, she didn’t talk during interviews. Staying quiet won’t help the situation.”

“If she just decided to not speak, hide behind a mask and a hat, and be a bad dancer just because of a break up or whatever, might as well just go on hiatus or just leave the group already…”

But, as always, Carats were quick to help within only seconds, ready to defend the female performer:

“At first you want her to go and now you criticise her for staying quiet?! Like what do you expect from her?? To just scream into the microphone “I’M INNOCENT” or what?!?!”

“Not you saying she didn’t dance properly when the entirety of seventeen was so confused during their performances, like so much went wrong and you all are gonna blame that on her? Funny.”

“Literally all of the members wore hats and masks… but sure, talk about her as if you know her and comment about her fashion choice, istg… Look at how tired she looks. She’s done with your bullsh*t, so leave her alone”

“You’re coming for her, but leave iKon members alone?! They’re even closer friends with B.I. than her, you don’t know anything. Let it go.”

“Jesus Christ, Carats don’t even care about this and are actually sad for her but some netz who literally only know her name feel the need and right to make comments about her? So what if she was quiet?! She literally just lost one of the people she was closest too in the industry because of some teenager girl spreading rumours about hanbin using drugs. Stay out of Minnie’s business and let that woman breathe”

Her Tattoos (February, 2020)

It is known to be a long process until someone can become a licensed tattoo artist in South Korea and show their artwork on other people’s bodies. This seems to have not stopped SEVENTEEN’s Minnie and her friends from tattooing each other.

One high school friend reminisced on social media earlier today about the time when the female performer used a tattoo gun and drew a small imagine on the other woman’s body:

“And you said I would regret it one day! Well, guess what Minnie? I don’t! Still loving it… ^^”

She later added another picture of a smiley face on her middle finger and added:

“This is never going away, I hope the one I did also looks this good♥️”

Meaning, both females decided to tattoo each other.

Minnie was quick to respond to Netizens harsh comments and Carats worried Tweets, posting the following words on Weverse and adding a picture of her tattoo:

“In the US, you don’t need a medical degree to tattoo other people, anyone can get a tattoo gun. A very experienced artist supervised us very well and was next to us the entire time. Everything went well and mine also still looks good😊 it’s gonna stay there for quite some time!”

Clearing up the concerns of Carats, Minnie also explained it again during her Instagram Live, that while they were on tour in America, she met up with one of her friends from her High School years and they spontaneously decided to get tattoos.

Plagiarism (January, 2021)

SEVENTEEN is the first and most well-known self-producing K-Pop group of all time. The group doesn’t only choreograph their own dances, but also produces and writes their own songs. Earlier this week, a South Korean Netizen took it to SNS to accuse the only female member of the group of using their cousin’s work. They wrote:

“They [Her cousin and Minnie] went to school and started writing songs already back then. Minnie would always take his words and write them down, never even asking if he was okay with it. And now, we suddenly hear them in so many different songs that she gets credited for. She stole his work and she should credit him and give him the money that she earned through this music!”

Other Netizens started supporting the statement, helping the account to raise awareness of the issue. One even wrote:

“I always knew she didn’t write that much, HOW could she even have really written that many Seventeen songs? She had to stand out somehow, as if being the only female member wasn’t enough already…”

Carats didn’t respond to the accusations, but the SEVENTEEN members were quick to post pictures on Weverse, leaving comments that were clearly addressing the problem. The producer of the group, Woozi, was the first to post the following:

“All those years… all those notebooks and none of them are mine or anyone else’s. Only Minnie’s. Our Minnie’s work🤍 can you please come and get them and stop collecting them in my studio, thank you”

Joshua was next and even posted it on English, to give to the international Carats:

“Back in the days in our room she didn’t even have enough space and started stacking them in the living room. So many ideas from such a small person.”

And even one of the quietest members of the group, Wonwoo, decided to speak up for the female:

“Nothing has changed. Although she has enough space in her room now, she still prefers laying them out on the living room… Shows how proud she is of the work that only her mind can create.”

The performer herself posted the following statement on Weverse:

“Verses and songs are like babies. The babies of every songwriter. Why would I want to have someone else’s baby if I had to live with the knowledge that it wasn’t mine? I can only love and share my own babies with Carats!🤍”

The other members wrote short messages, expressing their love and affection for the girl and her songs. You can read them here.

(It was later also revealed, after a Carat asked the accuser which school their cousin attended, that the accusations were wrong, because they answered with SOPA, thinking that Minnie attended it, but she actually went to an international school in Seoul)

Bet. TW //Drug Usage Mention

1. He's going to make bad choices. His brain is set to survival mode because he's probably been fighting for his life on the streets (yknow with cops and other homeless people) so if (y/n) is going to try to acclimate him back into society he's going to be anxious and aggressive at first.

2. if (y/n) is working minimum wage in the story (you better not be writing for no damn high schooler (y/n) istg ill beat you) they CANNOT house their homeless bf unless he gets a job too. Rent is expensive as HELL!

3. If you're writing for a substance abusing homeless man he's going to experience withdrawal symptoms. Yes, even if he's in therapy/management/rehab, he'll still go through the mood swings. Look up withdrawal symptoms if you're writing for a character that previously abused substances. Addiction is a serious mental illness that deserves to be represented correctly.

4. If your mans has a history of being abandoned he's going to have attachment issues. How each person experiences them is different so be sure to do your research as always.

5. Yes, he can shower/do laundry/ eat etc. at (y/n)'s place but at the end of the day he probably shouldn't live there until he has a job bc (y/n) wont be able to support them both if they're working min wage.

6. Never ask ur hobo hubby where he gets the good shit.

7. He's gonna be nasty at first. He's not gonna be endearingly nasty. He's not gonna be "uwu rat boi". He's gonna be fucking DISGUSTANG. My mans lives in a got damn garbage can. He's going to be difficult to be near. Idk about you but your garbage can at your house probably don't stink that bad but garbage cans behind industrial building stink to high HELL. He's not gonna smell like left over maccas okay? He's gonna smell like the shit they throw out and that's gonna be fucking NASTY! He's N A S T Y.

8. Unless you plan on making (y/n) a licensed therapist they can't "fix" this man. They can offer love and support but unless you got the degree you can't "fic" anybody. That's not what you're there for. I'm just tired of that trope bc I tried to "fix" my homeless bf one time and guess what! Nothing happened! Bc I'm not licensed to guide a "fixing" and even then "fixing" is a nasty word. Please start sating "I can help him heal." It's so much nicer.

9. Homeless men are not typically dangerous. They can actually be really chill people who had just been handed a bad set of cards. Even the ones who look "deranged" can be genuinely decent human beings. So if you're writing for a homeless love interest you don't need to make him this horrible "deranged" person. A bit weary, a bit defensive maybe, but at the end of the day he's just had it rough.

10. Mental illness takes a lot out of a person. Sometimes mental issues can have physical results on the body and even give a person fever-like symptoms. There's no such thing as a mentally well homeless person. Being homeless for any amount of time is traumatic. You will have PTSD from being homeless, even if it's minor. PTSD is WILDLY misrepresented in media so please do ur research on the effects of PTSD too.

Also don't romanticize anything I've listed above. PTSD, substance abuse, Depression, whatever have you are NOT fun. They are not things to make light of and be like "Aw, he's shooting up dope in the allyway. Hahah! That's my stinky little rat boi uwu" NO! Don't do that! You can write for characters who go through these things and you can have them fall in love and whatever but listen. Don't make it cute. It's not cute. It's serious, it's fucked up, it's awful.

Anyway, those are my 10 broad tips for writing a homeless love interest for (y/n). Specific Qs are still okay bc tbh, you guys do not know what its like.

I personally haven't experienced homelessness first hand but my 2 best relationships where with people who were homeless at some point in time.
