One thing I love in 00Q fics (whether mine or others’) is how hard and dangerous it is for them to have an actual real relationship while Bond is still a field agent for how much of a liability a relationship and fieldwork create, even when they clearly like each other. 

I’m on a Leonard Cohen kick this afternoon (read: listening to Cohen so as not to lose my min completely) and Amen makes me think of a Bond who both desperately wants to hear that he is loved, to be loved by Q, and also cannot handle it while he is 007 and Q is Q - this yearning for the idea of a future, something he may or may not be too broken, too stubborn, to ever claim, at once impossible and desperate.
