Well, from an out of uniserse POV, I turn into Bakugo when I have a meltdown (metaphorically ofc.) The lashing out... I've seen that before. Before my parents realized that giving me headphones wasn't a bad thing, I was that kid.

In universe reasoning:

Bakugo is praised for his abilities, but never really gets the help he actually needs for them. Meanwhile Deku is actively neglected because society doesn't deem him useful the same way they see Bakugo.

It really reminds me of high support needs and low support needs, at least, my personal experience with them.

(obviously this does not condone Bakugo being a dick. Surprised people put words in my mouth so clumsily.)

Also, Bakugo really has a hard time connecting with people, and even Kirishima the first friend (and yes I absolutely ship them) he made in his entire life approached him and gained his respect on his terms.

And like, some of his sports festival behaviors... 100% meltdowns. My dude legit had to flop down on the floor in public to not have a full on meltdown after the first round, and once he won...

oof. I legitimately feel bad for him. Nobody deserves to have a meltdown on international TV and be physically restrained because of it.
