I was listening to a This American Life episode about assisted suicide and so far it’s about this guy who gets an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and goes to Switzerland to die by assisted suicide and I learned a lot about how fucked up our healthcare system is with handling death and dying and terminal diagnoses. Of course today I have a lady with end stage dementia and I just can’t help but feel like nobody should have to live like this.

Any time I haven't slept enough, I am so fucking hungry all day; my body is like "let's eat our way out of this sleep hole." And, while it won't HURT, it doesn't actually work like that; it doesn't solve the underlying problem. You need food AND sleep to have energy; you can't make up for a deficit of one with a surplus of the other. My ghrelin does not understand this.
