Heyyy
I accidentally went down a rabbit hole for the devotion art, and I was wondering if you filled out character sheets for the boys and if so, would you be willing to share them??
No worries if not in either way!
The stat blocks need not exist, not do you have to share them even if they do.
Hello hello! Thank you for asking! I actually did fill out character sheets for the boys at Lvl. 3, Lvl. 10 and Lvl. 15 for my upcoming D&D AU, Devotion.
And then I put them down and now I can't find them again to share 😭😭😭
But I DO HAVE AN ANSWER FOR YOU! And I do have the few notes I could find. I saw your reblogs about Eddie's Lvl. 10 stats and you're so right, his health is really low 😬 BUT I have an in universe reason for it! 😅
When I was filling out their stats and figuring them out, I knew I wasn't going to be building them to min/max them, you know? Like I wasn't going to level them up the way one might usually with a character they are playing. Like I wasn't gonna say:
There might be battles up ahead so I need to increase their stats here and here.
Instead I went more in the direction of:
At this stage in Steve's life, he's 16, he thinks he's hot shit because he's got his expensive gold armor and he's at the start of his story arc so, for example, his Wisdom is very low (-1) at Lvl. 3 and he also has NO experience in combat of any kind, he's only fought when in training, never in a real world scenario.
Then as he gets up to Lvl. 10, he learns, he grows. He's 21 year old now. He's become more wise to the ways of the world, he's learned to fight, his weapons have changed, he's gotten stronger. He's at a +0 for his Wisdom now as he's learned more of the world outside his small town.
It's the same story for Eddie. While I don't want to say too much because of potential spoilers, I can tell you he has the 'urchin' background sooo... 😬😬😬 That might give a hint. 😅 But as a Lvl. 3 Bard at 17 years old, growing up in the poor part of town, he doesn't have a lot of access to the kinds of benefits Steve had growing up. Y'know, sometimes you gotta busk to eat and sometimes you go home empty handed.
So this poor fucker is STARTING OFF at a +0 Constitution.
Which... doesn't get better. Because his situation does not get better.
There is a reason he multiclasses into Wizard, and it is very reflective of his story in the show. Like, in a sense his situation gets better, he has his people around him, but he also ends up leaning into the freakishness, hence the School of Necromancy.
But none of this is conducive to growing up healthy. So by the time he is at Lvl. 10 at 22 years old, he's still at +0 Constitution because... well... because there's only so much one can do. Regular meals and a constant training regimene is not something he had access to for the longest time.
(And listen, as someone who's favourite character I played was a School of Necromancy Wizard who was the most glass of glass canons, I feel you, Eddie 😅)
So like, he's got 3d8 HP when he's at Lvl. 3 and I believe he rolled fairly high with his +0 and I think he was at 21. Then he took 7 Wizard levels (still at +0) which was 7d6, leaving us with ~30 HP gained.
So I suppose, long story short, I am approaching these stats from a storytelling perspective, rather than trying to buff them up for any future battles, you know? Along with a little bit of homebrewing or just straight up ignoring some things that I need to.
Like as a DM, if something needs to be ignored or overlooked to make the story more entertaining to my players, I'll do it. The Rule of Cool is always in effect with me. 🤣
So I kind of see it as me being the DM of their story, but of course, rather than me being the DM and them running off in the opposite direction I want them to, like my players so often do I am also the author, and I know exactly what direction the story is going to go in and what's going to happen and what their motivations are.
I dunno, it's a really fun thinking exercise and it has allowed me to get so deep into their characters.
Anyway I am SORRY this explanation has gone on so long and I've gone so far in depth when you probably just wanted something short and sweet but I love talking about this so, I took the opportunity and ran with it. 😅
So here's the notes that I found on their character sheets on scattered scraps of paper 😅 (and I know some of these might not line up with what's supposed to be done, but isn't the main point at the end of the day to have fun? 😊)
Eddie Lvl. 10:
Keen Mind Feat STR: -1 DEX: +1 Con: +0 INT: +3 WIS: +1 CHA: +3
Steve Lvl. 10:
STR: +3 DEX: +0 Con: +2 INT: +1 WIS: +0 CHA: +3

Explaining this scene (from here)
Tumblr media
Will mention mouth and throat inflicted violence and dissection. Also will get (slightly) more in detail about what's happening between these two
Context: Pesticinger has Siru come to her neck of the woods at night to perform certain rituals. It claims these are for ~Learning Purposes~ (which they are, in a way). This is related to that thing about folks wanting to learn and gain powers from Pesticinger. Siru's motives for being here, well.. I'll get into it later.
This exchange you see depicted, happens after Siru has cut out the tongue and/or vocal chords off of several animals (which includes birds. This is a crucial bit of info). Before this she also had to catch several of them with occasional help from Pesticinger, so she's a little tired, on top of it being quite a uh. Let's say emotionally challenging? Task? Especially seeing as how she also had to eat said body parts raw after cutting them out..
She's a country girl, she'll manage..
Tumblr media
Despite the initial ick, Siru performed all this like a champ! At least compared to alot of humans Pesticinger has initiated into similar activities. This is what prompts the above "She's good at games! Bold, very bold she is!", which is genuine compliments given the situation.
So while Siru did All That™, Pesticinger hopped circles around her, chanting songs and urging her on (is it encouragement or pressuring...? I would say it's both.)
Considering the unpleasant tasks she's had to do, while it simply sang and watched, Siru feels it's appropriate to poke at Pesticinger a little. She has a very deadpan delivery and morbid sense of humor, which is why Pesticinger here is depicted as being taken aback and even unsure whether or not Siru is joking at first. These two have quite contrasting presentations and speech mannerisms.
What did Siru say?
She pulled a little "So, I'm guessing it's your turn next, right? I mean I've been building up with these small creatures so the grande finale's next, and that would mean.. You."
(you can see in the drawing, she's lazily pointing at Pesticinger)
I'm paraphrasing, but she essentially implied that to take it to the next level, she should now also cut out Pesticingers tongue and vocal chords, and eat them. Which, Pesticinger was not prepared for. This is supposed to be an initiation progress, and breaking previous limits Pesticingers followers might've had, in order to bring them in deep. In terms of gaining special abilities, this does ofc contribute to that, but lemme just say, Pesticinger losing her vocal components would be a huge blow.
Let me put it into perspective. People ordinarily do not hear Pesticingers speaking voice. When she sings yes, but when speaking normally, it looks like she's just moving her mouth elaborately. If she's not singing, or stealing somebody else's voice, Pesticinger is like watching a silent film irl. She has no voice of her own.
The other Plagues can hear her speech, and so can Pesti's followers, and most people who've heard her special song before. Not everyone, though. It tends to be a special occurrence, bc if someone can hear her speech it tends to mean something is a little wrong.. (ykno, how cursed songs are)
Siru could always hear it's speech, and that's likely due to her carrying some.. (glances at my previous post) supernatural after effects.
Siru eventually broke face and chuckled it away, but Pesticinger, in all honesty, remains a little unsettled by the suggestion. She doesn't let it show of course. Not to Siru, especially.
But, yeah. Maybe a bit of a power move to joke about inflicting it on the scary entity next, who's trying to break your limits by making you do disturbing rituals. As you do

I have not been taking great notes in my ridiculous long-drawn-out research. Or maybe it's more accurate to say, I've only been taking notes, and as a result the book I'm supposed to writing has become increasingly overwhelming. So, from now on I've decided I'm going to post my annotations and ideas on here. @understandingbimbos seems to be in shambles a bit, and being able to reply on here makes things more efficient anyway.
So, for starters. I've been reading Dworkin, currently Intercourse. The following excerpts are from the preface of the second edition. Then I'll probably continue in follow-up posts going chapter by chapter, section by section.
Tumblr media
How this relates to a fetish like bimbofication should be obvious. Not all bimbofication stories include a controller, but MANY of them do, especially some of the earliest stories. And even if they don't include a controller, or even a transformation, bimbo stories often fetishize the power imbalance of high vs. low (subdued intentionally, or not) intelligence. And, in that way, bimbofication can be seen as the ultimate culmination of dominance and inequality as erotic.
Force is a natural and inevitable part of most bimbofication stories. There are instances of consensual bimbofication in writing (and, arguably, numerous instances in the real world) but I honestly couldn't tell you about them, because I go out of my way to avoid them. There's a chance I'd enjoy consensual bimbofication stories if I gave them a chance, but the idea bores me. At the same time though, I'm not a huge fan of stories with controllers -- or rather, stories that feature the controller prominently. Although it is, assumingly, part of the appeal for people in the BD/SM sector of this fetish that play out bimbofication IRL -- the idea of personally turning women into dumb sex freaks (or even role-playing/self-inserting as a character who does that) is of zero interest to me.
My disinterest in consensual transformation has more to do with the inherent uselessness of it all, at least for me. With consent there's no struggle, and if there's no struggle, has there really been a transformation? Sort of a "Bimbo of Theseus" thing, I guess. I do like bimbos on their own, sans transformation, but if I just wanted bimbos I would not be reading a bimbofication story. The transformation is the whole point, the hottest part. Some of the best bimbofication stories I've read are JUST transformation, with little to no actual sex. Similar sentiments were shared by Tebra (May they rest in peace) and some fans in the comments of a Patreon post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put simply, there is no transformation if there's no transformation. Bimbofication (in fiction, at least) implies a physical change as well as a mental one. We should be able to see and experience a material change in how this character acts, feels, talks, and lives. Instead of just being told "they're dumb and have big tits now". There is no point to a bimbofication story if the bimbo springs from the character's former self fully formed like some slutty Birth of Venus.
Here's a very simple but effective example from Downing Street:
Tumblr media
And another, a bit further down, from the same story:
Tumblr media
There are discrepancies between her thoughts and actions, signs of struggle, and once there are no discrepancies left a transformation will have taken place. And in the case of bimbofication stories one could make the (flimsy and morally dubious) argument that consent is gained in transformation. A lot of stories, including pretty much all my personal favorites, focus on the perspective of the woman as she slips further and further into debauchery and pursuing personal pleasure. Bimbofication stories almost always end with the woman happier and more satisfied than she started. Of course, one could also easily argue this is just rape with multiple steps. Or coercion, but I'm pretty sure that's just rape too.
How you feel about and view it is up to you. I've read bimbofication stories that have bored me, and I've read bimbofication stories that have grossed me out. Execution plays a part as much as content.
Finally, here's another excerpt of my annotations from the preface. I think it speaks for itself.

Least favorite episode?
There are a few!
S1E03 "Prickly Muffin"
The thing about this episode is that conceptually, it's a really good episode. I love seeing the first explicit instance of BoJack seeing the world as a sitcom, it's one of my favourite aspects of his character. However, it wasn't as well executed as it could have been. I'm not against Sarah Lynn being bratty and melodramatic, per say, but she lacked the nuance that is gained in future episodes. I feel like some of her character history probably wasn't actually developed at this point, most significantly the fact that BoJack is (at least implied? I can't remember) to be the source of her addiction. I think this would've been fixed by having the plot where they have sex (gross) replaced with some scenes from Sarah Lynn's perspective, possibly also moving the scene where she storms out to just before the third act. I do understand that the show was more wacky at this point, however, so it maybe wouldn't have been in keeping with the tone. Also the joke where the makeup artists are doing BoJack's makeup just to for the weekend is genuinely extremely funny, I do enjoy it.
S6E11 "Xerox Of A Xerox"
UGH okok so this is a really difficult one because I LOVE some parts of this episode, namely that the entire thing is BoJack's fault. His downfall is His fault, he never should've taken the second interview, and the fact that he relapses into the fame drug so quickly shows how far he still has to go. That is BEAUTIFULLY written and one of the best parts of the entire show. But the 17 minutes thing overshadows it for me. I've spoken about the 17 minutes thing from here to kingdom come but the bottom line is that they tried so hard to cater to a very specific part of the fandom, spent so much time on that plotline, that they end up losing the point that this episode was supposed to be making. The thing that's so effective about having everything BoJack's done come back to the surface is that we suddenly see that actually, it's so many things. It's not just one thing. It's never just one thing. It's a bunch of little things that gradually make you worse, both externally and internally. The reason why Todd ended his friendship with BoJack wasn't actually really because he had sex with Emily, it's because him having sex with Emily was the straw that broke the camel's back. And this point CANNOT be made with the revelation that BoJack committed manslaughter. You can't have it both ways. It completely ruins an episode that otherwise would've been perfect.
Other than that there are a few episodes that I don't like as much as the rest, Commence Fracking being the weakest of these, but no other offensively bad ones.

One of my favorite ways of Eggman of low empathy that isn't how it results in him being apathetic and caresses towards some of the effects his villainous actions have- is how he was about Gerald's death. People who think he should be deeply heartbroken and bawling his eyes out about it don't realize how interesting it is that he didn't
I really like how we've never seen him be sad and emotional about it, he's just blank emotionally towards it. we don't see him reacting with any emotion towards Gerald's death, even when they had the chance to adapt on it more in X or Frontiers after, they still didn't! and if he was supposed to "secretly" be feeling it they'd imply it but they didn't
Instead he was just interested in learning about him and how what he left behind could be useful to him. When he learns about the things he left behind he's just like "What a waste of good research! I might as well get some use out of it" because his actions aren't emotionally charged or motivated by Gerald in the game at all
He doesn't care about avenging Gerald or honoring/helping fulfill his legacy, only building his own. He's so self-centered it truly affects his entire mindset and actions as he's focused most on what he can get out of things and how he can use it for his own selfish gain. Family isn't an exception for his deeply ingrained mindset and behaviors
It makes sense for him to not care about Maria's death because he was jealous and felt entitled to the attention she got. But Gerald is supposed to be his hero, his idol, the one person he has actually admired in any way (from an academic perspective but still) and yet he wasn't shown to act any different about his over hers and that's so fascinating
I also like how the most impacted he is by anything in SA2 involving Gerald is when he reflects on how his actions would've resulted in himself being destroyed, that his idol had planned to bring about his demise by destroying the world. He can only be impacted like that by things that happen to himself personally. He doesn't feel it for others
Again, his self-centeredness and low empathy is really a very important part of him that affects his mindset and how he thinks, feels, reacts, and acts about a situation. I don't think his narcissism and what it entails for his character gets a lot of respect and embracement in this fandom but it makes him a lot of fun for me to explore and write

"Grisha who control the elements are controlled natural disasters waiting to be pointed to the target" IM FERAL OVER THIS DESCRIPTION its so *chefs kiss*, I'm absolutely obsessed.
Personally, I'd be throwing hands with any Inferni making everything all muggy and humid; I live in New Zealand, so I live in 80%+ humidity every day and its the worst 😭😭 i LOVE the concept of the Tidemakers essentially being able to become puppeteers, though – how terrifying would it be to be forced to move against your will, especially in a battle situation??
I know you've mentioned before how Tidemakers could feel "clammy" or Inferni having burnt hands or how Sun Summoners don't have a shadow; how else do you think this body horror take on Grisha talents could impact them physically? I think the physical implications are just SO interesting and really add to the perspectives of other nations (and maybe even non-Grisha Ravkans) to be looking at Grisha as dangerous, abominations, something to be fearful of.

Previous Post (Here)
I'm glad you like it! I was particularly proud of it haha
Oh man I've escaped previous heat/humidity and do not want to go back lol
Yes, being moved against your will, or being unable to move when you hit a certain range that the tidemaker can control! That would be terrifying!!! Thinking you're on a scouting mission and suddenly you think you can hear voices, so you rush forward, and there's a group, the lost patrol, but they're froze to the spot, screaming for you to run back, instead you find yourself walking towards them, a strange sound of waves in your ears. You don't cry, no matter how much you want to, they don't want to waste the water for tears.
I think it would be really interesting if what they controlled didn't effect them or hinder them, that their science automatically compensated for it. And going of the fact Grisha are supposed to be 'rare' it would be a cool like 'natural protection' for them, and possibly another tool for people to find them before their powers develop, a way to hunt them if you go darker. The closer it gets to their powers showing, the more automatic processes their body does.
Also the more they use their powers the more visual it becomes. Shadow summoners who's limbs blacken, and seem to vanish into smoke in certain light. Sun Summoners who slowly go blind from their own light, burning from the inside out and collapsing like a dying star. Tidemakers who slowly drown themselves, every manipulation of water fills there lungs drop by drop, or the opposite, they pull water from their very being. Squallers who pull air from themselves, slowly suffocating, or they fill themselves up with so much they combust, they dissolve into the air itself. Inferni who have burns creeping up their hands, who cough and breathe out ash and smoke, their bodies being burned from the inside out, after all that's all oxygenation is
Tidemakers who never get wet or damp, even in the rain, not because they're moving it, but because the water knows not to effect them. Like how some birds have oil in thier feathers that makes them hydrophobic. They can hold their breathe for too long, the water dividing itself into oxygen for them to breathe. One of the ways to check if a child might be a squaller is to hold them underwater, of course, not many abide this old superstition. The can handle slightly hotter or colder temperatures as the water in their bodies adjusts. Tidemakers that can direct small bits of water, when it's raining the runoff never seems to dampen their feet or the area they stand.
Inferni that are never uncomfortable in any temperature their body naturally adjusting, they're immune to certain chemicals/combinations because of the combustion particles. They can gain bursts of strength, their bodies manipulating them as they would flame from the world around them. Depending on what specific particles it is they can manipulate (Would other Inferni be better at different particles/combinations?? That would be very interesting) they can breathe in highly toxic areas like nothing is wrong. They can track or recognize places and soldiers by particles, they can tell where things have come from if they've been exposed to certain particles from certain areas. They can effect the temperature of those around them, especially with strong emotions. Those that make an Inferni anger or someone that causes lust/ a crush are often the source of a sweltering gaze and prickling heat, sometimes when their gaze is averted, something close by will combust/light on fire/heat up. Inferni who give off steam when they become emotional.
Squallers that never seem to slow in movements, the wind pulling and pushing their bodies for them, keeping them moving, keeping them out of danger even if their body can't or shouldn't be moving. Like when a strong gust of wind moves you. They can handle low oxygen environments like mountains or caves easier than most. They can alter air pressure around objects to make them heavier or lighter to an extent. The wind seems to influence their emotions, or the other way around, most aren't sure and no one want to anger a Squaller enough to find out.
Sun Summoners who move faster, are stronger in the sunlight, seemingly full of energy when in the lights path. They can see in the dark because they produce a natural light that encompasses themselves, the more power they have the more others can see it. When they become angry or too excited, or just too many strong emotions it will blind others from their reactions. They never seem to get sunburned, or sun stroke. They become effected by the season more easily, the lack of sunlight causing them distress if they're lacking in a strong family
Shadow Summoners who can see in the dark, who don't recognise that there isn't a light source. They can move the shadows to hide them. They often move silently when in darkness. The changes in season are usually when they're stronger, they don't seem effected by the shorter days or longer nights. They can travel better and night, they can stay in darkness for days at a time, so different methods of torture must be used for them. They suffer from light sensitivity often struggling to be out during the highest points of the day or they hide from flames and other light sources.

Thinking about religion in the vaults-
(Disclaimer: I'm not religious! I used to be but my perspective as more of someone effected by it than as a believer.)
I haven't seen a lot of canon material depicting it, but we know that Vault Chaplain is a job people can get:
Tumblr media
(What Brotch has to say about getting this in the G.O.A.T)
But in the case of Vault 101, the ultimate authority isn't God, but the Overseer, so I don't believe that worship is actually highly encouraged. Unless Dictators are using faith to leverage their power and give themself divine authority, it can be disadvantageous to insinuate that there is a higher authority than them! In the case of Vault 101, there's a difference of regime between Alphonse Almodovar and the people who came before him. Before Alphonse, Vault 101 was open and seemed to have a "laxer" atmosphere compared to when came into power and started spouting a lot of xenophobic bullshit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dictators tend to either use God to support their authority or tear down religious institutions to assert that their will is more powerful than God. We know that Alphonse used his authority given to him by Vault-Tec, his own charisma, and the loyalty of Security to enforce his authority and he cares more about preserving the "purity" of the vault. He says 'God' once in all of his dialogue:
Tumblr media
So, clearly there is some level of religious institutions in vaults because it's America and assumed Christianity is at play here as well as preserving the American ideal. However, it's in Vault-Tec's best interests to push the narrative that they and everyone affiliated with them are of highest authority so that they can keep people under their control.
I don't have things to cite for this one because I can't find a good source, but while the Enclave sponsored and was involved with Vault-Tec, Vault-Tec wasn't actually loyal to them. While the Enclave was supposed to have information sent to them about the vaults I do believe none of it actually went to them and we have repeated examples of the Enclave trying to force their way inside Vaults. If Vault-Tec wanted to let the Enclave in there would've been protocols for this for vault dwellers, but I personally haven't see anything of the like. Vault-Tec was committed to "preserving" America in name. In reality, we all know that they cared more about experimentation. Religion was most likely viewed as a tool to experiment on humanity, and if not made to be front and center, it took a backseat within vault functions.
Vault Boy replaces or accompanies religious figures and Vault-Tec propaganda either is tied into or replaces religious scripture. Obeying the Overseer is said before obeying God, to disobey the Overseer (Vault-Tec) would be to be a sinner. The USA already has such a strange relationship with religion and twisting it for it's own gain either in State or culturally and bastardizing their own beliefs. It's constant hypocrisy and I feel like the cherry-picking and bastardization is at an all-time high in vaults.
That, and anything other than Christianity is ridiculed and squashed unless being manipulated and abused in a vault experiment. Any of the beauty of religions is warped, twisted, and sanitized. Rather than there being someone benevolent watching over you and protecting you it's emphasized for surveillance. Community is emphasized to keep you from thinking individualistically because there is no upward movement to a society where everyone has their place. There's none of the religious ecstasy of worship, because you can't be dedicated to another higher power.
I have my own complex feelings on religion, but it's undeniable that there is beauty and good in it. That forcibly taking it away from people and bastardizing it is still fucked up, and I feel like the Vault would take all the good of religion and use it's most fucked up parts. Religious trauma squared. It's honestly very typically American ;;

Let's talk Elden Ring balance. This post is long and nerdy, but I've put a lot of effort into it, because I think it's a very interesting discussion to have. Feel free to voice your disagreements with any of these points in a constructive manner.
I've seen people complain about recent nerfs a lot, and honestly? That's great. Keep the discussion around balance going. It's good for the game long-term and it's fun and interesting overall to see different perspectives of people.
Unfortunately, the perspective I hear really often both on Tumblr and Reddit is the opinion that the nerfs "Ruined weapons/ashes of war" and now the game is less fun because of that. That there are "enough bad weapons in the game" and, the one point I find straight up infuriating, "the developers should stop listening to tryhards who ruin the game for everyone else". The way I see it is that people completely misunderstand the purpose behind these nerfs, and I honestly get that. Elden Ring and Fromsoft games in general are just way too different from other games, and it's hard for newer players to adjust and see the vision behind the balancing of these games. So!! Let's learn more about it, shall we?
Point 1: The Nerfed Weapons are now Ruined
To which I ask a simple question: which one specifically are you talking about?
Moonveil is still broken, being able to deal more than 1200 damage with it's Ash of War without any buffs. This weapon is so strong that it overshadows any of the spells an intelligence build might want to use. Moonveil is not only not ruined, it needs another nerf.
Rivers of Blood is still one of the stronger weapons in the game. The way bleed builds used to work in previous fromsoft games is as follows: you sacrifice a chunk of your base damage for the ability to apply a status effect for a much more effective burst damage potential. This required an aggressive playstyle that was rewarded with additional damage. High risk/high reward kinda build. Pre-nerf Rivers of Blood had both high base damage and bleed build-up, which resulted in a weapon that wins the game with a single button press. A quick, long-range high-damage attack that also applied bleed is not only ridiculous, it's straight up not fun. I'll explain the reason why it's not fun later on. Rivers of Blood is now doing what it's supposed to do: reward players that are playing aggressively with bleed build-up.
Bloodhound step is still a very effective tool. It was never supposed to be a button that just grants you invincibility. It's a counterpart to quickstep: a slow, long-range dodge. A dodge mind you, not an invincibility button! You weren't supposed to spam it to avoid all trouble, you were supposed to have a dodge that also allows you to gain distance. The developers messed it up and made it basically a better quickstep, which is an ash of war that makes your dodge only a bit more effective and short-range, allowing for a more aggressive play. Bloodhound step = passive dodge, quickstep = active dodge, that's how it's supposed to work. Thanks to this nerf, not only bloodhound step is now doing what it's supposed to, now other ashes have a place in the spotlight.
The swarm of flies is... Well, a shadow of what it was used to be. It's no longer a long-range dps tool that stuns everything to death. The thing about this spell is that it's lingering, meaning that after hitting your opponent, it does a bit of damage over time. Now instead of being the main damage source, it has a more meaningful purpose: keeping up the bleed build-up. Status effects wear off after a certain time, which is bad because sometimes you're too far away and you have to wait for an opening at a distance. This spell helps you to keep that status effect going, which synergizes amazingly with the bleed build playstyle.
The sword of Night and Flame's damage was HALFED and it still one-shots some bosses with the right build. There is no need to explain this one. Still broken, but at least it's not that unbearable in pvp.
Mimic tear is still a top-tier summon, but now all the other summons get some place in the spotlight. It's still my favourite though, and I won't allow you to gives her ANY shit :>
Please let me know if I missed something that was nerfed and is now considered "ruined", but I think there is honestly nothing in this game that was nerfed incompetently. There are plenty of things left to be nerfed though.
Point 2: There are Enough Bad Weapons in the Game
This is actually the point I agree with! Just not for the reasons you would probably think. Indeed some weapons are fun in theory, but are just not very good for one reason or another. But I would argue that most weapons in the game have their own place. You see, the best weapons in fromsoft games are oftentimes overlooked at first, until someone discovers a fun combination or a playstyle. That's because all weapons, when sufficiently upgraded and used with a certain degree of creativity, are capable of being great. While there are those that are more effective than others, they all have their own place situationally. Yes, there are bad weapons in this game. But you don't know that before you actually try to make them work.
Point 3: ppaspslwpdhdla tryhards ruin the game for everyone else and the developers shouldn't listen to them!!!
You can see that I'm being dismissive about this particular point, because it's utterly ridiculous. The "tryhards" are just people who are very passionate about these games and want to learn it and become better. They by definition try their hardest to win, and it's not a bad trait to have.
All the balancing changes I listed above were proposed by our passionate and active pvp community, who set up an entire ass website for the developers, to make it easier to find bugs and balance suggestions. This community is honestly amazing, I've talked about it a lot actually.
The "tryhards" aka the PvP community make this game much better. But if you disagree, I also want to point out that once the game gets older, the PvPers, challange runners and speedrunners will be the only one's who will stay to be affected by today's balance changes. So please, listen to them when they're saying that something isn't right about the balance. From Software only supports their games for so long!
I am bad at writing conclusions
Here that's the post. The nerfs are good. We need more of them. Discover new stuff about the game, try those weapons that are overlooked. Listen to the PvP community, they've been around since the early days, don't dismiss their arguments solely because they're not enjoying the game the same way you do. Be constructive and.. idk i think that's enough text for a conclusion.
If you're reading this, you might be interested in getting into Elden Ring PvP. Check out my #invader talk, #Elden Ring PvP Advice and #elden ring guides tags. What do you think was the overall reaction of both gp and fandoms about the taennie rumors after almost 3 months? Do you think mediaplay really worked? To whose advantage?
I think they received more negative reactions especially Jennie. I visited her IG and there were a lot of visible defamatory comments. Those are probably just trolls, but those are not really good for her image. You mentioned that they used the rumor to help Jennie with her Idol series venture, but she received even more backlash than ever after it, and everything just went downhill for her from then on- her song with Abel, Abel’s song Kpop, her lazy performances and poor attempt at redeeming herself giving excuses for her blunders, I think those were what she will be remembered of instead of being Tae’s gf.
As for Tae, he’s been so quiet apparently. Do you think being associated with Jennie would tamper his image and reputation? Is that why he’s not feeding the rumors?
Jennie seemed to be unbothered about it all, and so is Tae. I am just wondering what your perspective about this stunt is, like a conclusion or something.
Hi anon!
Mmm, a bit tricky to answer this right now.. because I'm not sure whether or not it's actually done yet. But for the sake of it, let's assume that it is.
I think it definitely brought Jennie what they wanted. It was never meant to polish her image, it was meant to bring her publicity and that it certainly did. Around Cannes all eyes were on her and The Idol. Every article that was about Tae and Jennie being spotted also mentioned The Idol. It was great publicity. The hate she got doesn't matter in that regard. Attention is attention. From Jennie's side this wasn't aimed at fandom, but it was to gather attention from a bigger audience, so that they would also watch her new series. Her fans were always going to watch it, so they didn't actually care about how they would react to it. Jennie has always gotten hate, from Blinks even. It has intensified a lot, but I think they expected that and I think they just took it in stride. The pro's heavily outweigh the con's in this case.
Jennie's real fans won't leave her for this. They will blame Tae for not standing up for her and just keep supporting her. Maybe she even gained some fans who were Teannies. And, I think this aided in her name being more widely known. Jennie was already big, but a supposed romance between a Kpop princess and a Kpop prince is bound to make you even more famous. I think that has been the aim from Jennie's side.
Jennie won't be remebered for being anyone's girlfriend, or for being the 'topic' of a song. Her legacy will be BlackPink, no matter who she dates, she is absolutely big enough for that.
For Tae I think things are a bit different, and it is possible that his side didn't like the way things were going. If nothing else happens (during his album release) he wouldn't have benefitted from this for a specific project, like Jennie has with The Idol. For him it did more for his overall image, people think he dates women because of this. It's also kept his name going around for the last few months, which might have been an intended side effect, but in general I feel this was to give him a veil of straightness. It would explain why he seems to have cooperated less than Jennie and why he has been seemingly distancing himself lately. All Tae did was show up at the Paris walk, while Jennie also fueled rumors (well, even that was only once... I think). Who knows what lyrics Tae's songs will contain? He will have a "straight" storyline for the ones who feel uncomfortable with queerness. It having been a very short stunt (not including the gurumi stuff) it won't have damaged his reputation or his image. Tae is lovely and he is loved a lot.. it would take a whole lot more for that to be destroyed. If nothing else happens, people will soon get over this and it will eventually be parked int he realm of "rumors".
So in general I think it did what it was supposed to do. It's going to be more clear after a while I think.

OH ALSO re Void Light specifically I was thinking about abilities
I'm like on the one hand it makes sense for them to be a dendro bow user because they use the bow for hunting and are super proficient but also we already have two dendro bows- fdkjsahfa so I'd want to make them unique. Ayato would also insist on some way for them to be able to defend themself in close combat, which would be a sword, but...
so mostly focusing on bow, my first idea for a skill would be something that let's them gain distance. Thinking a time slowing type thing like Yelan's held skill, but the outcome is that they appear to teleport between two places, and where they started and stopped having an AoE dendro explosion.
But I also had an idea that their skill could instead temporarily shift them into a mode where they have dendro claws, kind of like Razor or Cyno's bursts, and they do attacks that way (for a shorter amount of time). But that could also be their burst instead. From a meta perspective though that sets them up to be a DPS and doesn't really make sense.
A more reasonable burst would be like something that is area of effect ensnaring (small enemies only probs) and inflicting dendro, which would kind of keep them as a support and enable them to protect themselves until the Shuumatsuban/someone else was able to take out the enemies more properly.
But I'm also really attached to my dendro claws. I suppose they could also be a catalyst user in the way that Heizou is, but for Dendro, so their base attack is the claws. The skill and burst could stay the same even. I DUNNO! Thinks...
I don't want to make them a sword user because they aren't NEARLY as killed at that as Ayato or Ayaka would be as they haven't trained at it very long so that wouldn't be too fitting. But using kitty meow meow claws...seems reasonable and more intuitive for them, plays into their lore as having been a talented hunter in Springvale so. 🤔 but the bow...angsts about this

pls share some of your responses with such comments I never know what to say and and up suffering in silence
okay so, first of all i hope you're taking care of yourself as much as you can. i hope you know that other people's comments don't define you, even if they come from people that have supposedly "known us our whole lives" and think they have the right to assign values to us as people <3
usually, i try to approach it in a civil manner because more often than not our parents have been traumatized themselves and are not aware of what they are doing. i'm not saying this to justify their actions but to bring them into perspective. my own mother was horribly criticized on every aspect of her life by her mother, so i try to give her some slack when she makes off-hand comments that she doesn't realize how they land.
in this particular instance i asked her why she needed to even mention my weight gain at all, she replied that it's because she's worried about my health, i answered that she knows i take care of my health while alone abroad (to such an obsessive degree, i'm worried i might have ocd), she acknowledged that but proceeded to tell me that "for a 26 year old woman i am too sensitive regarding my body image and should be able to fend off comments like these at my big age".
now, i'm realizing that we are not entering the conversation on the same level. i point out that i've been receiving these comments since i was 11, a very vulnerable age, from people who were supposed to be building me up instead of tearing me down. again, she tells me to disregard that since my grandparents were "old and senile", i refused to do that and told her that regardless of their mental state, my mental state at that age was influenced by their comments. she tells me that everyone said the same thing to my cousin and she's fine.
at this point, i realize that she's going to keep finding ways out of acknowledging her (or her parents') responsibility in this, so i hit where it hurts: i tell her that's why my cousin is on antidepressants. is it nice? no, but i want her to realize the gravity of the situation and after multiple attempts to make her empathize with me i have to resort to drastic measures and i know that will make her second guess herself and think deeply on the topic.
by all means, this did not immediately solve the issue of weight loss commenting or my mother's insistence of romanticizing her parents and their negative impacts on our lives, but like everything else it's a step by step process. all i (and you) can do, is point out to our parents how they hurt us, explain the effects of their actions, and ask them to stop. if they don't, harsher boundaries will have to be drawn and regardless how they feel about them, at least we will not be suffering in silence but instead, we will be making the conscious decisions to protect ourselves and stay away from things and people that hurt us.
sorry for the super long and unnecessarily detailed answer but i hope it helped! if you want to discuss this further, my inbox and DMs are open <3

Submitted via Google Ask:
(So sorry if this is more plot stuff rather than worldbuilding - please direct me sooner if it shouldn't be here) Anyway I have a world where everything is seemingly normal like our world but there are aliens and stuff but most people don't know about it and the few that do are the ones secretly protecting people. But what I've noticed from a number of fiction, they tend to ignore tending to people who are psychologically affected but they always get treatment from people who don't know the truth and thought as delusional etc... In other words, the help they get wouldn't be very effective would it, or just treated like a joke. Yet the heroes ignore that unless they actually meet one of those affected. Anyway, I was thinking I should build a system for my world where there would be such help given to all the people affected? Obviously I get that things like doctor-patient confidentiality means our heroes shouldn't be able to simply search for keywords and round up all the affected for better treatment and thus plenty would get missed even if there are some shrinks in the know, but idk I could put in something else that would work. I also suppose there's following up on all people they know about having been at the site. Anyway, it's still a lot of manpower to sort out as well. Also, most importantly, how much of the world might be changed if these people did get the help they need, or would the small number of people affected wouldn't really change much?
Tex: How much of this branding of “delusion” is socially-based, and how much of it is physiologically-based? One depends on norms in order to maintain social equilibrium, and the other depends on inherent flaws in one’s person that make them unstable and inherently difficult to aid in a way that would balance their inner equilibrium to social equilibrium.
Most pragmatically, they would need to depend on each other and learn how to “self-medicate” things like cognitive behavioural therapy (i.e. learn how to be their own shrinks). Zimbabwe has an excellent model in the form of a “friendship bench” (Mental Health Innovation Network), something of which has shown to be a reliable and sustainable method of lay therapy that helps people help each other in their community. It also functions as a trust-building exercise, and has some similarity to support groups formed by people with similar difficulties or traumas (think soldiers returning from warzones, mothers of deceased children, etc).
I think a core component to scrutinize is this: would these heroes still do their heroic deeds with the regularity that you’re implying if their deeds were known to the public? They might luxuriate in the division of anonymity as a mental break from the stressors, particularly if it grants them a degree of privacy, frustration with their non-hero peers notwithstanding.
As an example, would Superman like the public to be aware that he’s also Clark Kent, and remove the relative social safety bubble of him working as a reporter, just to gain the opportunity to a greater pool of therapists or psychologists that might or might not understand what frustrates and stresses him out? Would that be ethical? Would it be fair?
From a Doylist perspective, it’s possible for these heroes to just.. Accidentally run into trust-worthy people who are emotionally invested in caring for them personally or professionally (as a friend, as a therapist, etc), and you can toss in tropes of fate as often as you like. No successful individual achieves success without many helping hands on the way there, and it’s certainly possible to build up a team of psychological medical staff alongside the team of physical medical staff that understand the need to keep a hero’s identity secret in the interest of their safety and well-being.
The idea that a hero must be isolated and tragic certainly has its appeal and its history in cultures the world over, because - as the argument has been trod over thousands of times - they would be otherwise unable to empathise with those that they save on a regular basis. A pinch of angst balances out the goodness, and makes them relatable on a narrative level.
In case I’m verging off course, the same general framework would apply to non-heroes who meet heroes doing their hero-work. Support groups are available - or can be found or created (see: all the alien abduction support groups), and they would at minimum be able to form some level of emotional connection to empathize with the heroes themselves because they would now, presumably, have a subject in common to talk about. Being treated as delusional is halfway a societal perception issue, and only sometimes a physiological and/or neurological issue that might or might not be treated with anything ranging from therapy to prescription medication.

1Kings 2:1-4 Commentary
First Kings 2:1-4 My Commentary
This is a very serious situation that I am currently going through right now.  I am in the early stages of Dementia right now.
Next, I have needed special services from the State of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  I need prayer.
Further, I want to inform all of you that my time on Planet Earth is running out right now.
This is a very serious situation that I am currently dealing with right now.  I have been dealing with Organized Criminals right now.  These are the same group of people, who scammed me out of money.  The police cannot find them.  I am typing this letter in doubled space in order for all of you to read this information.
In Addition, I want to inform all of you that I have noticed some suspicious activities on all of my personal email accounts.
This is not very easy for me to deal with right now.  I have noticed that someone has been using my Social Media Accounts as well as my email during the time I have been online.  I am allowing all of you to know that this is something that is very hard to deal with.
I want to say this because I am in serious need of prayer.  I also want to inform all of you that I have been taking a bath only once a week.  This is very unusual behavior.  I have been doing this for over three years right now.  I have been crying a whole lot over this entire situation.
Furthermore, I have a motto right now.  I am using a specific Bible Verses that really pertains to my situation.  I really do not think that my individual counseling sessions are not effective.
2nd Chronicles 20:15 says: For the Battle is Not Yours but God’s.  This is my theme for this year 2024.  I want to let all of you know that I am walking with God right now.  Some of you might not understand what this really means.  I am letting you know that I have given all of my Will over to Jesus Christ right now.
Some of the people, who I have as adversaries would like for me to kill myself.  I am losing my memory as we speak.  Some of my adversaries are in my own family right now.  My niece wanted to fight me over some comments that I have made at her brother’s funeral last year.
I am not in the mood to fight any woman with my hands.  A man is not supposed to fist fight with a woman of any type.  I am only 58 years old right now.  This is meaningless to my personal adversaries right now.
I have to allow a Power that is Greater than Myself to resolve this personal issue with the Organized Criminals right now.  I would like for all of you to use affirmations to help me to cope with this situation better.  It has taken 14 years of being under electronic harassment.  This means that I am hearing voices on a daily basis.
I have a thorn inside of my flesh according to the Apostle Paul in 2nd Corinthians 12th Chapter.  This is very dangerous right now.  I have had a series of bad luck in my personal life.  Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts because all of my Accounts have been hacked, copied, cloned, and illegally transferred to another person’s phone number or office number.  This is a spiritual problem as well as a crime in progress.  Whenever someone has their phone number inside of the Dark Web, it means that other criminals can gain access to your information without you even knowing it.
I am taking 38 pills per day on a daily basis.  I have a total of eight doctors that I have to consult with each month or on a bimonthly basis.  Whenever a person hears voices, it means that you have a chemical imbalance inside of the brain or a head injury of some sort.
Finally, I want to inform all of you to know that I love you very much.  Some of these computer hackers and scammers can talk to you in the same way Satan does to us if we give in to his temptations.
I know that I have come a very long way in my personal life.
I am listening to Church Sermons on a daily basis.  Please help me to learn how to put things into perspective in my life.  I will admit that I have been visibly shaking and shell shocked right now.  Perhaps this is the reason why I have been somewhat indecisive in my personal life.
I always make decisions but I tend not to follow through on my daily tasks.  I am more thankful rather than complaining about my problem.  Thank all of you for listening to my personal lament!!
Lord God You are my hope and my salvation.
You have been there for me more than I have for myself.  You have to be very honest with God.  Thank you for allowing me to keep it real with all of you.

What does AJ represent?
In the dream, there’s a beautiful house that I’m in, it belongs to a stranger that I don’t know. It’s a very old style house, like the ruins of a medieval castle that got remodelled into a modern home. I’m in her bedroom and I am looking out of a huge window that seems to take up the space of an entire wall. The view is absolutely incredible. It's so beautiful. It's like somehow the room is perched on a rock or a stone slab and forms its own island. I can see the beach and the beautiful blue sky. The horizon feels so open and inviting, the energy so pristine and light. I can see water lapping up around us. There are two white lotus flowers nestled gently upon the water on the bank where the water meets the sand. All of this is making me so emotional, my heart is swelling with happiness. I am crying my eyes out, I keep sobbing because I can’t believe it. It’s picture perfect, but it’s real. The lady who owns the house is probably around 40, she is standing and watching me as I cry with a small smile on her face. I think she gains a bit of a new perspective since she obviously comes from old money and probably takes what she has for granted. As the are waves gently crashing around the square of her bedroom, I wonder if what happens when the sea level rises and if there’s a flood and tsunami risk.
I leave her house and I realise it’s on a street in Alphington. I looked around and recognise a bunch of other street names that are in Alphington, I see the characteristic green street signs with capital letters. It doesn’t look or feel like real life at all, it's like a beautiful dream rendition. It feels like I’m in Switzerland where everything I look at is picture perfect. Even the sky seems higher than usual, like there is no 'ceiling' to this reality. The sky is a light blue and it's so bright and sunny. The energy here is so light and happy. It feels like Earth but it also feels like heaven. All the houses are so beautiful, I start to think that I've walked into a wealthy-person area but it's more than that. Everything is so idyllic looking. I walk past some kind of small market or fair that is happening on a patch of grass. There are food stalls, possibly even a sausage sizzle. But suddenly a fire breaks out of nowhere, it seems to just randomly appear out of thin air, landing on the people and spreading from person to person very quickly. An event that seemed like calamity just appeared like that. But even as I am observing, I feel the fire is fake somehow. It looks like CGI fire, like poorly done special effects on a movie. The people are reacting like it’s real but the peculiar way it is setting people alight and then spreading from person to person seems unbelievable. This isn't how the physics of fire works at all. And then I just 'know' that it's only a fire drill. The people are running away and their skin is burning. But I don’t hear any screams. It's like the people aren’t really there anymore, they’re NPCs. They're reacting the way they're supposed to and that's it. This observations occurs in seconds and for a bit I am stunned with what has suddenly happened but I quickly regain my composure and run to a hose tap that is off to the side and turn it on. There is lady who is close by to me and I can tell her hand is burnt so I put the running water on her hand and I am thinking about how this needs to happen for 10 minutes to reduce the worst of a skin burn. I don't know that I see any burn on her skin though. I use my phone to call triple 000. The lady on the phone doesn’t seem very phased when I tell her where we are and what has happened. I tell her it would have been nice to know that we were having a fire drill, a heads up that none of this is real. So that we didn't need to overact like this and assume that it was real. So I must have known it was fake the whole time even though I was playing the part that it was a real fire. She didn’t say anything back I don’t think she even sent any firefighters
Jacob is leaving as our irrigation teacher and two other things shown to me that signify this reality is ending

C!Tommy’s Storyline With C!Dream Is A Very Concerning Depiction Of Abuse
Wild Title
Okay, I’m sure that this probably isn’t too new information for anyone paying attention to the overall story of the DreamSMP, especially C!Tommy’s storyline, but I figured I’d give my two cents for this anyways.
C!Tommy is an Abuse Victim who has gone through horrific stuff at the hands of C!Dream. This is not an arguable fact. regardless of if C!Dream had reasons for doing what he did, if C!Dream also later gets abused, or if ultimately the abuse portrayal could be considered in some ways flawed or unrealistic, that stuff doesn’t ultimately matter. Because we’ve seen what happened to C!Tommy during Exile, have seen the physical, emotional, and mental abuse he was put through. Just because they won’t call it Abuse doesn’t mean it isn’t Abuse.
Now, C!Tommy being an abuse victim is an interesting idea from a storytelling perspective. It has a lot of potential to lead to genuine character development, or to affect relationships and story beats in interesting ways. And it could be an interesting way to really say something about abuse and coping with it.
And to an extent, an argument could be made that it has, though I’d argue the exact way those are handled in canon, but not the point. The point is, abuse is not just something that you get to gloss over. If you want to include themes of abuse in the story, a story you are making available to the public for millions to see, then there needs to be a clear and obvious message being portrayed with including abuse in the story. Preferably, that abuse is bad, and can have majorly negative effects on anyone, especially children. We don’t always get that lucky, but whatever.
But, from my months of watching the story of the DreamSMP, and trust me I’ve been here a long while, I haven’t seen C!Tommy’s abuse being handled very... well. I could, of course, be wrong in some aspects, and maybe be misremembering stuff since this dumpster fire has been happening for a year now, and feel free to correct me or bring up more points if you know something I don’t. But, I still think that overall, I have a point of view that should be considered.
So basically, C!Tommy is an abuse victim, right? this is easy to see, very obvious in the way he acts and behaves. Or... is it?
Abuse is a complex topic and one that, in real life, presents itself in all sorts of forms. Many abuse victims were raised in unloving homes and ended up becoming more vulnerable to abuse later on in life as a result of that. Others never properly learned how to express emotions or turn people down and got taken advantage of. Others were abused from the start, and develop various ways of coping and dealing with that, even ways that they might not be fully conscious of themselves. Abuse is not a one-way street, it could hardly be considered a street at all given how diverse and differing the people who experience it end up developing into are.
So I’m not saying that, if C!Tommy were a real person, that he isn’t “Being traumatized enough” or that “Why isn’t he more like what I expect him to be like?”. That is not what I’m saying at all.
What I am saying, is that C!Tommy is a fictional character who exists within a narrative, a story. And in a good story, consistency is half the battle. I, as the audience consuming the story, need to be able to look at C!Tommy and pick up on and understand the effects abuse has had on him. And these effects need to be consistent, otherwise, as an audience member, I’m going to get confused and start having questions about why he acts one way here but doesn’t somewhere else.
I also need to be able to clearly see and understand, by being given narrative stepping stones, if something is changing for his character.
As the saying goes, “Show don’t tell”. C!Tommy can’t just say he “Goes to Puffy for Therapy” offhandedly one time, as a means of handwaving away why he doesn’t really consistently act as traumatized as he used to even though it’s literally only been a few weeks, or months at most. To explain how he can jump back between being really sad and depressed about something, to joking about Women and Twitter. It seems weird if he’s able to just so seamlessly, so effortlessly, go back and forth. Almost as if he’s bouncing between OOC and IC, but that’s a whole other discussion.
Sure, C!Tommy is representing real mental health issues, but he is, ultimately a Fictional Character existing in a story. I need to be given signs, proof, foreshadowing, to explain when he has certain reactions and behaviours in order to understand his character. And these need to be consistent, otherwise we get plotholes and general confusion.
I criticize the inconsistency and the offscreen handwaving because it’s generally not very good writing. It’s the same reason I disliked Eret’s basically off-screen-sort-of-redemption-arc. It’s the same reason people dislike it when Villains of previous seasons suddenly come back as fully reformed good guys for seemingly no reason. There is no arc, no development, no progress is shown to us.
Because when you’re telling a story about a character having some major change or developing in some way, or having an important character trait, if I don’t see it on screen, then it didn’t happen. How am I supposed to root for C!Tommy’s progress, or understand what he’s doing to progress, if a never see his coping mechanisms? His therapy appointments?
You can’t just say something, or inconsistently portray something, and expect me to jump through hoops to connect these nearly transparent dots that keep getting thrown around.
Show don’t tell. Show me Tommy getting better, because otherwise you’re just telling me he made character development, and showing me this completely different character as proof. No, last I remembered C!Tommy was having panic attacks and yelling when C!Dream was even mentioned. You can’t tell me that a day later he can interact normally after days of being in the prison and a month of being dead.
Or, if you are gonna have him flip flop back and forth, don’t have it be so sudden and jarring, give an explanation. Is he faking being fine? Does he have memory issues? C!Tommy doesn’t read to me as the type who’s good at suppressing his emotions, he wears his heart on his sleeve. So you’re going to have to explain, clearly, in a way that isn’t ambiguous, what’s happening with C!Tommy here.
You’re not really saying anything about the abuse C!Tommy goes through, if all of that trauma is automatically wiped from the story when the writers get too lazy or too scared to keep it in. At best, you are showing abuse and trauma for the sole purpose of showing it, with no intention of properly dealing with and addressing it in the story. At worst, you are basically just doing torture porn.
Pain, Hurt, Trauma for the sake of it. Not with any goal in mind. Just for the drama of it, or to hurt the audience.
And then your audience is just supposed to take that content in uncritically, and they gain no true understanding of how abuse victims survive and cope after their traumatic treatment.
Exile Arc sure did a good job at making C!Tommy suffer. But as soon as that arc ended, a lot of the stuff that happened in it went completely glossed over and unaddressed for a long while. That might have been fine in the lead-up to Doomsday, since a lot of plot stuff had been going on and stopping to handle C!Tommy’s issues might (Might is heavily doubted cause it certainly isn’t impossible) mess with the pacing a bit. But then after Doomsday, there isn’t really any excuse to put it off. Because nothing was really happening for a good while, and nobody had anything to do plotwise.
And this became even more true with C!Dream being locked in Prison. Nothing was really happening, so what was stopping the story from taking the time to properly discuss and deal with this stuff?
Well, nothing really. So, the Hotel Arc happened. And oh boy, was it a mess.
So, C!Tommy being angry at C!Dream for the abuse and trauma he has suffered at Dream’s hand isn’t an issue. It’s an incredibly common thing for victims to feel angry at their abusers, and to even go so far as to wish for vengeance against them in some way. And that’s a totally valid and fine feeling.
You’re hurting, you’re scared, you’re in pain. I get that. When we’re hurting, we don’t always act rationally or healthily.
But, ultimately, that rage, and hurt, and want for vengeance is not a healthy thing to hold onto. In many circumstances with an abuse victim wanting to inflict pain back on their abuser, we run into various problems.
For one, getting vengeance on your abuser is quite frequently going to give you more emotional pain than it will fulfilment. Especially if you are young, or are letting this want for vengeance take over your entire livelihood. It does you no good ultimately, to attempt to bring pain to the person who hurt you, because not only will you often be unsuccessful, you frequently won’t find emotional healing and stability in that.
(The only exception to this rule being if ignoring them or moving on from them isn’t an option for you right now.)
Actions have consequences, and if you invest more time in that person who hurt you, then you have no time to work on yourself or the relationships around you. You have no time to heal, and this can become self-destructive.
Spending time around an abuser, as a victim, is in all likelihood just going to upset you more. You’re retraumatizing yourself by spending time around them, and as you make attempts to give them their comeuppance, you could possibly end up internalizing the methods they used on you, and just end up perpetuating the cycle of abuse again.
And even if you have no problem with doing that to this particular person, consider how fully internalizing these abusive behaviours could affect your friends or family. Frequently, even when they don’t mean to, abuse victims can internalize the things that they went through and then use those same behaviours against people in their life later on. Being shitty to your support system because of what you went through isn’t a good move, for you or them.
Basically just, an Abuse Victim has more to gain from working on themselves while finding ways to heal and overcome their trauma and abuse, than they do spending their time and energy on the abuser. Its frequently unhealthy, distressing, and self-destructive to indulge in that too much.
(Of course, I don’t speak for everyone, but from what iIve looked into and seen, this is the healthiest method of actually healing from your abuse. That doesn’t mean you just... leave your abuser alone and never address or talk about what they did, you don’t let them get away with it, of course not. It just means you don’t waste your mental well being and time obsessing over someone, especially someone who has hurt you so much.
You deserve better than that. You deserve to heal.)
Now, let’s get back to C!Tommy.
C!Tommy, instead of finding a proper means of coping with his issues (proper therapy, diagnosis for his issues, forming and maintaining healthy support systems, focusing on things he loves, etc) is shown to repeatedly focus back on C!Dream. When he was making Big Innit Hotel, it did seem like he was to an extent finding ways to cope with his shit. He was still kinda shitty and his hotel was not exactly made and run by the most morally great standards, though I suppose I can’t expect too much when he is a very traumatized teen and doesn’t really know what he’s doing.
But, ultimately, this all fell apart when he got locked in Pandora’s Vault with C!Dream. Arguably, it was already falling apart the moment he decided to keep pursuing C!Dream even when he was locked up.
See, the thing is, C!Tommy can never just… have trauma. Having trauma that he can healthily and methodically work through is something that for him as a Character, is basically impossible. His character is an angry one, one built on spite and childishness, and who holds the mantle, unfortunately, of “Spunky Male Protagonist In A YA Novel”. So, his mental health issues can never just be a struggle he has to cope with, especially not when the DreamSMP can never seem to have anything between “A lot is happening right now omg” or “Literally nothing is happening and nobody is playing on the server at all omg”.
Instead, his issues have to be seen as a battle, and they fuel the narrative of the story. Him having been abused by C!Dream cannot just exist as a thing that he as a person has to work through slowly with the help of others around him. It has to be seen as this Epic Triumph Against Evil, another battle of Tommyinnit VS Dream on the DreamSMP, a classic Villain versus Hero fight.
This, of course, isn’t too great. By C!Tommy’s abuse plotline being framed in this manner, it makes it so that C!Tommy is constantly obsessing over his abuser and recklessly throwing himself into dangerous and triggering situations is some attempt at an “Epic Battle With Evil”, rather than this being treated like the self-harm it actually is. And yes, it is self-harm, a form of it.
C!Tommy uses his trauma and issues as fuel for the story, making it so that its impossible for him to truly progress and a character, and the moment he does start growing, he has to get retraumatized again so he goes right back to where he was.
C!Tommy does not become a better person when he’s around C!Dream, nor does he find any form of fulfilment in being around him. He gets shaky and panicky at just the sight of him. He regularly has violent and explosive outbursts at just the mention of him. When C!Dream talks to him, he gets nervous and basically can’t help but listen due to conditioning he still listens to.
When C!Tommy went to go visit C!Dream the first time in Pandora’s Vault, he brought with him stacks of TnT. He did it because he wanted to mimic what C!Dream had done to him in Exile, where he would take all of C!Tommy’s newly gained items and blow them up underground for dramatic effect.
C!Dream did this for control over C!Tommy, to manipulate him, for his suffering.
And C!Tommy wanted to do this to C!Dream, because he was feeling vindictive.
When C!Tommy got into the prison, he mocked C!Dream, hit him repeatedly, and tried to boss him around. He made him write ridiculous books and verbally berated the man. He did this in a feeble attempt to gain some feeling of control over C!Dream. This, evidently, did not work. At best his success was momentary. And this sense of achievement he gained was gained through projecting his abuse trauma onto someone else.
He repeated the cycle.
After he got brought back from the dead and let out of the prison, he was much much worse. C!Tommy was now paranoid, anxious, constantly thinking about C!Dream, and had his mindset solely on getting revenge on him, by killing him.
It got so bad, he ended up doing lacklustre “Exposure Therapy” to help himself not panic when he went into Pandora’s Vault to kill C!Dream. It got so bad he dragged C!Tubbo and C!Ranboo into this, putting them in danger and putting more pressure on another two teenagers’ shoulders.
It got so bad, that Ghostbur died, C!Sam closed off even more, and C!Wilbur came back.
Objectively, C!Tommy leaving C!Dream alone would be the better thing for everyone. And yet he keeps repeating the cycle. Because C!Tommy is not meant to grow, learn and heal. He is made to suffer.
The problem is not so much showing an unhealthy depiction of a mentally ill or traumatized person. Because trauma and mental illness and the effects of abuse are not always pretty, and they shouldn’t always have to be portrayed and pretty or sympathetic to be accurate.
It becomes a problem when you get this depiction of C!Tommy’s coping being presented uncritically to an audience of a lot of underaged and young people.
Nobody in canon, whether they be adults or fellow teens, has ever tried to question C!Tommy’s methods for coping. C!Ranboo and C!Tubbo just limply went along with his plans for Exposure Therapy with no consideration of if this was a good idea. No adults really offer to genuinely step in and help C!Tommy deal with his shit, and the ones that do leave him or get corrupted in some way, often leaving him with more trauma as they do.
C!Puffy’s therapy methods are dubious at best, and the most we ever see of her actually helping C!Tommy is her humouring his toxic behaviours, and C!Tommy making offhanded mentions to vague therapists appointments we never see.
C!Technoblade stopped giving a shit as soon as C!Tommy walked off the screen. C!Wilbur was dead, and now that he isn’t he certainly isn’t helping C!Tommy. C!Phil isn’t C!Tommy’s dad and has no obligation to do anything for him as a result. C!Ranboo has the backbone of a chocolate eclair. C!Tubbo is too busy repressing his own trauma to help C!Tommy with his. C!Sam is being ruled by the prison and C!Quackity. C!Quackity has become an Ancap.
Nobody in this story is a reliable or trusted person to C!Tommy, who could properly tell him his methods are unhealthy and give him better alternatives. And as a result, nobody is able to tell the audience that C!Tommy is wrong
Unreliable Narrators are only effective when the narrative in some way has their unreliableness pointed out or proven to the audience. If you go into a story with the assumption that everybody watching will be able to see past C!Tommy’s POV and not take him at face value, then you are naive. Especially when this fandom is made up of many teens and children.
I only know C!Tommy’s methods are unhealthy because I care way too much and do my research. A vast majority of the world doesn’t have the same understanding and education on these topics, especially not children and teenagers. A good chunk of people, especially neurodivergent and mentally ill people, could very well take the story at face value and automatically assume that what Tommy’s doing is actually a good coping mechanism because they don’t know any better.
There is no clarification or safety net for preventing misinterpretation. And being of the opinion that “Well, they should know better than to trust a bunch of Minecraft Youtubers for this stuff” or “We can’t expect them to be psychologists! You expect too much” is just… not helping.
Because I shouldn’t have to explain why children and teenagers, especially those that are using these people to cope, are not always going to make level-headed and common-sense decisions. They will be influenced by these Content Creators, whether we think it’s “Stupid” or not.
And I can say with certainty that, while yes, this might be a bit much to expect from a bunch of British/American white guys who play Minecraft to handle, may I also point out that nobody fucking made them put this stuff in the story. There are ways to write a story without stepping outside of your realm of true understanding. Nobody begged these MCYTs to go and make torture porn for a 16 year old, nobody asked them to touch on topics they have no fucking clue about.
They put that in themselves. And we have the right to point out the problems and flaws in it, and criticize them for not handling this stuff better.
You don’t start applying for a job you don’t meet the requirements for. You don’t start an expensive project you can’t finish.
You don’t include elements in a story you aren’t willing to fully go through with and address in a proper and sensitive way.

Birds singing, leaves crunching, and the wind singing in your ears was all you could hear as the tour guide went on with their one-sided conversation of tour around Inverness, Scotland. If it weren’t for your worrisome supervisor, you’d be in the cute little cottage that you rented for the next few weeks, probably playing on your switch or watching Tigtog videos for hours on end. But noooo, they mandated that everyone had to go on this hour-long tour of the city to “get a nice perspective of the city” or whatever the hell they were rambling on about.
Each person was assigned a partner for the tours so they didn’t have to worry about anyone getting abducted or ‘lost’. Knowing better, you visibly rolled your eyes as your partner looked around like a kid in a candy store. Apparently the woman was from the marketing department as well, her name seeming to leave your memory as you squinted in her direction.
“You forgot my name again, didn’t you?”
“Pfft- no- no way!”
“Yea? Then what is it?”
“Uh, erm...It- it starts with a H, I know that!!”
“It’s Hoshi, or if you’d like to continue with formalities, Ms. Tenmei.”
Hanging your head in shame you look away. Getting lost in your thoughts once more, Hoshi taps on your shoulder.
“Hey, no worries! I’m pretty bad with names myself. How’s camera duty going?”
Saying this, the woman grabs the camera from your grasp, turning it back on to see the pictures you had taken thus far. Whistling, Hoshi looks back at you, noticing the lack of enthusiasm that was painted across your face.
“I know this tour is the last thing either of us want to do, but the quicker you get all those pictures for the portfolio, the quicker we can get out of here and grab a drink. It’ll be my treat if you can get all of them before the end of the tour.”
Nodding your head, you grab the camera back from her, beginning to focus it on a nice view of the lake from the bridge the two of you were standing on. Before you can snap the shot, the tour-guide’s voice snaps you out of your thoughts as he begins to speak about a more interesting topic.
“It’s said that this lake has a kelpie spirit living within its waters. Although, that can be said about any lake that’s big enough to swim in.”
As most tourists begin to talk amongst themselves, you grip onto the expensive camera once more, hoping to find that perfect shot you had before the man’s shrilling voice had interrupted your train of thought.
“Mommy, what’s a kelpie?”
As the little boy spoke, you took the chance to snap the shot as a bird flew on the lake's surface, leaving a black blur on the perfect shot!
‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’
The tour guide you grew to despise butted into the pair’s conversation to answer the boys question.
“That’s a good question kiddo! It’s said that the origins of the Kelpie were originally told as warnings to women and children alike to be alert at all times when not around their loved ones. Despite this, you can ask any local in the area and most could tell you their story of encountering the supposed myth. I suppose we’ll never know till we see one for ourselves. Though, if you’re unlucky enough to encounter such a myth, there’s the chance that you won’t live to tell the tale...”
The boy trembled as he gripped his mother’s dress tighter in his clutch. Your partner begins to scoot closer to you as she whispers into your ear.
“Psst! Hey, what do you think about those ‘kelpie’ hm?”
“It sounds like some sort of folk-lore they tell all the tourists here.”
“Oh c’mon now, you’re no fun! I’d like to think they might not be as brutal as this guy says.”
Scoffing, you shake your partner’s hand from your shoulder as you look into the camera’s lens once more to take another picture.
‘I’m sure it’s all bullshit. There’s no such thing as a shape-shifting kel-‘
Thinking this, you suddenly feel your body begin to fall forward as the bridge railing suddenly let out from beneath you. Before you realize it, you open your eyes to see the water's surface only a mere foot or two from your own face, the camera hanging by your neck and grazing the lake, your body beginning to be pulled back to its upright position.
Turning around to thank whoever it was that just saved you from having to pay for the company camera, you look to see nobody behind you. Nobody seemed to even be around you as you see Hoshi following behind the group of tourists, leaving you in the dust. You begin to chase after the group as you shake off the entire encounter.
Shuffling your bag off of your shoulder you threw it into the nearby chair, slumping into the couch that was adjacent to the chair. You began to hum to yourself as you felt the effects of the beer contest you had with Hoshi who you now knew was your supervisor. Thinking to yourself you remember losing that contest the two of you set up.
‘It was nice of her to pay for us and to bring me back home even though I lost. I should thank her tomorrow and try to pay her back if I can.’
Suddenly feeling the effects of the liquid courage, you stood up a bit too quickly, reaching your hand out to the couch you were just laying on. Not sure what to do, you reached for your phone to scroll through Tigtog, that was until you began to hear something strange. From what you could tell, it sounded like a voice, though you weren’t sure if it was male or female. Curiosity began to take the lead as you stood upright once more. Looking around, you began to walk around the cottage, seeing if there was anything on that could be making that noise. Eventually you found yourself outside in what looked to be the backyard of your little cottage, swaying side to side as you tried to listen for the voice once more.
“Y/N? Are- are you there?”
Under normal circumstances, after hearing an unknown males voice you’d already be locking the backdoor behind you after racing to that door. Tonight, however, was not the case as you yelled back the best you could of a response.
“yYeaa! Wwwhooo- whoo arre yOU?”
After saying this, you suddenly began to burp, probably due to the alcohol. Despite everything you had experienced thus far, for some reason your fit of burps could not be funner to you at that very moment as the voice spoke once more.
“T-That’s not important r-right now. I just wanted to make sure you made it back home safe.”
The liquid courage that coursed through your veins decided that you wanted to find out more about this stranger and began to walk into the forest. You began to sway as you attempted to find them, calling out to them in hopes of convincing them to stay and hang out.
“OoooOh c’mON now!! Don’t be liiiike that! Wh-wherrrreeee are ya? Le-le-let’s hanggg ouT for a bit! I-I *hic* think there’s cards in the liv-livingg roooom~! We- we can play a gggame of poKER and- and see what’s in the fridge. Man, now I’m hungryyy!”
Despite your lack of sobriety at the moment, you began to hear a few leaves crunch nearby. It appeared that for some reason or another, what you lacked in logic you seemed to gain in your basic senses. This theory proved true as you sniffed the air, you noticed that there was a lake nearby.
‘Since when the hell did I know what a river smelled like?’
Before you can continue on with your train of thought, the stranger responds once more. They seemed a bit panicked as you heard a twig snap, followed by more leaves crunching beneath their feet you suspected.
“D-D-Don’t come any closer! Y-You should go back h-home, you’re not t-thinking rationally.”
Not wanting to take no for an answer, you continue to walk to the source of the sound, hearing what sounded like a cascading river growing louder. Looking through the trees, you noticed a few yards away the river you had just heard. You speak up once more as you begin to walk toward the river.
“I-I don’t want to be alone r-right now… It-it’s stupid I know, I just...I’d just like to talk, just for a little bit. Would that be okay?”
Your vision began to blur as you rushed to the river's edge. It didn’t matter now if the stranger responded or not, your world began to crash down around you as you looked at the reflection on the water's edge. Sitting on your knees, small whimpers escaped your lips out as you covered your face with your hands. Despite the literal lack of sight, your emotions consumed you as it felt that everything around you was losing the light that once shone in your hopeful eyes.
At this point, you couldn’t hear any signs of life as you gripped harder at your face, only the sound of your quiet cries for help being all that echoed through that hollow forest. Assuming the worst, you began to move your hands from your face, dropping them by your side once more as you looked at your reflection once again.
“Y-You said you wanted to talk? T-That’d be fine, just- just promise you won’t cry anymore?”
There's a beat of silence, it seemed that not even the wind could speak as your body froze. Sure, you could convince yourself that you were just hearing things, that you were just acting aloof because you were feeling lonely. If you could get yourself on the couch, you could wake up and even tell yourself that the whole experience was just a really surreal dream you had. What you couldn’t convince yourself was the half naked man that appeared to be standing a few feet behind you, his voice matching his lips as you watched them move.
‘Maybe- maybe I’m just seeing things? That-that has to be right, right?! But alcohol doesn’t cause hallucinations and I’m positive that none of my drinks were spiked. So- so...Who the hell is this!?!’
“Are- are you okay Y/N?”
Your body grew stiff as you heard your name roll off of his tongue. If you weren’t getting clearheaded before, you definitely were cold sober now. Those shy indigo eyes that seemed to stare back at your own off of the river's surface as they brought you back to your senses.
‘There is a strange, half-naked man, who somehow knows you by your name, staring at you- talking to you! He doesn’t seem very intimidating, but then again he is a stranger!! In the best case scenario, he could just be a nice guy who found someone in need. Worst case, he’s a psycho that found their next victim! I can’t keep my back turned like this, I have to do something and get the hell out of this!’
Taking a shallow breath in, you swiftly turn your entire body around, facing the stranger that now made your body shiver in fear as you looked up at him. Despite the appearance of the situation, the man seemed to be intimidated by you as he looked away.
‘He doesn’t really seem like he wants to hurt me. If anything, he’s scared of me? Maybe I can intimidate him to leave me alone? Though, I don’t think I could pull it off seeing as I’m still a bit drunk…’
“Y-Y/N?”
Looking back at the man, you notice he begins to reach his hand out toward you, slowly beginning to walk toward your crouched form. Worried for the worst, you scoot away as you respond.
“H-HEY!! D-Don’t come any c-closer! If-If you don’t I-I’ll- ACK!”
Speaking this, you only now notice that there didn’t seem to be any more ground beneath you as you felt your body begin to fall into the river.
“Y/N!”
Before you can process everything that’s happening, you close your eyes in anticipation for the cold water that was bound to drown you. The stranger grabs your wrist, holding your body up above the river, your body mere inches from being submerged in the cold water. Noticing the lack of impact, you flutter your eyes open as you look back at the man before you. Shocked, the man looks down at where he grabbed your wrists. Only now do you notice a purple hue that surrounded both your arms.
“What- what is this?!”
At a loss for words, the man can only look back between your face and where he held your wrist. Confused and scared, you rip your arm from his grip as you stand yourself back up. As you stare at the man, you look around, befuddled by whatever the hell had just happened.
While a part of you would love to ask what just happened, the more logical side of you knew that none of this was worth hanging around to find out. Dusting yourself off, the man speaks up once more as he looks away in what seemed to be guilt.
“Y-Y/N, I-I’m so so-sorry!! I-I didn’t mean to t-touch you- What have I done?!”
Not wanting to wait any longer, you began to shuffle around the man, holding your hands up in surrender as you attempted to empathize with the man. Although, you weren’t sure why he was so worried since he didn’t seem to do anything besides whatever that purple glow was moments before.
“Hey, hey! We don’t have to speak about any of this. I’ll go back and after that we won’t have to ever see each other ever again, okay?”
“Y/N, i-it’s not that simpl- h-Hey, WAIT!!”
Before he had a chance to explain, you sprinted back to your cute rental cottage that you were now wishing you never left. Looking back, you notice the man just stood there as you were almost home.
Suddenly, your body stopped moving. What was even stranger, your body seemed to freeze mid-sprint. Looking around, you noticed that somehow your head was able to move but your arms were stiff as you attempted to force your body to run once more. Just as you were about to give up, your legs moved once more, wobbling as they felt gravity work once more. Not taking any chances, you began to dash once more. Not a second later, your body rolled forward from some sort of large and heavy impact. After your body finished rolling forward, you noticed that you were sitting in the backyard of the cottage, the man sitting on his head as his body laid against the door.
“W-Who or-or What are you?”
The man sighs as he flutters his eyes open, rubbing his head as he looks up at you.
“M-My name’s T-Tamaki Amajiki, and- and I’m a kelpie…”
