───YOUR HUSBAND is acting weird.

ever since he got hired as delivering milk, he‘s been acting strange, such as — looking at you for a longer time, going home later than usual, and in the morning you would always wake up with him just . . . staring at you.

you‘re not sure what it is about him (other than his behaviors), you‘re not sure if his eyes gets bigger and bigger with the more he stare at you, or when his eyes glows in the dark (you couldn‘t count with how many times you got heart attack when you woke up with him staring at you in the dark at your closet).

or maybe when you saw him glaring into another man who‘s looking at you for too long for his likings . . . but as soon as you looked back at him, his expression changes into his usual smile to you. whenever you bring it up, he always waves it off, “you‘re just imagining it, darling.” is what he would say to you.

and like a good wife, you trust him. of course you would trust him, why wouldn‘t you?

it was around 11:02 pm, you were currently waiting for your husband to arrive soon. usually he would be home at 10:30, but nowadays he arrived at 11:00. the dinner that you made for him was now cold, even though you covered it with the food cover.

after two minutes of ads on your television ended, a news came up on the screen;

“breaking news! a 22 year old harada kyou was found missing. her husband reported that she was gone since morning.” said the man in grey suit, pausing before passing the speech to the said woman’s husband. “i tried contacting her but she didn‘t respond to me. i called her family and friends to know if she’s with them, but unfortunately she’s not with them. she‘s been gone since this morning, when she promised to go home at 5:00 after going to supermarket.” the man continued his story, but you weren‘t paying any attention to that.

instead, you were trying to analyze the woman in the screen. she looks familiar, you thought. but after connecting the dots, you finally recognize her! she was your neighbor. you and her don‘t always talk, but whenever you guys would bump each other, you both would have a small talk before going to your destination.

your thoughts were interrupted when a bell on your door rang and you turned to see him. “hey darling!” he came up to you. you stood up and grabbed his face, planting a gentle and loving kiss on your husband‘s cheek. “welcome home, baby. how was your day?” satoru put his hand on your plushy waist, “it was okay, couldn‘t wait for the curry chicken!” he joked.

“don‘t worry sweetheart, this is a different type of milk! a scarlet milk . . — anyways, i‘m goin’ shower.” he says, but not before kissing your nose and let go of your waist. you stood there, just thinking whether you should trust him or not, especially with him covered in scarlet milk. then, the television spoke again, catching your attention.

you chuckled, but it died down when you noticed the huge red spot on his shirt (that you somehow didn’t notice). you were slightly hoping it wasn‘t something you think it was. “‘toru . . . what’s this red stuff on your uniform?”

“if you see a doppelganger, please immediately contact D.D.D. thank you.” and with that, the news continues with another speech.

your husband is weird, he act like he‘s not worried about the death of your neighbor.

“the neighbor beside us went missing? well that‘s unfortunate.”

“miss tagawa went missing? that‘s sad.”

“the girl who goes to the café all the time was found dead? damn, anyways!”

it‘s like your husband didn‘t care about the people, only caring about you. he laughs it off when you inform him about the concern death of your neighbor, as if it wasn‘t something he needs to worry about.

but still, you love him no matter what. even when he watches you from the dark, growing taller and taller.

“i‘m so sorry! please don‘t kill me—” the woman chokes on the sobs, when the creature grabs her by the hair. the wide blue eyes tells her not to mess with him, let alone his wife. “heard you were talking about my wife, mind to repeat?”

the hand that was pulling her hair is now strangling the woman. “i‘m sorry . . ! i promise not to do it aga—” her throat was slit by the sharp nails. he rapidly stabs the woman until satisfied. her body is then separated and was thrown in a lake, hoping someone to see them.

he then morphed into your husband, with blood on his uniform. he got a text from you, which read;

his smile dropped when he heard a footstep, he quickly sprinted and hid behind a tree. it was a policeman, he was patrolling the area that satoru killed the woman previously. he hid behind the tall tree and waited for the perfect moment. without hesitation, he opened his mouth, widely enough to eat the man.

he then walk on the road, looking for victims to kill, specifically, your neighbors. the one who gossiped about you the other day.

as satoru left the elevator, there was five women in a group, the were whispering. he usually ignores them, but then he heard your name in their conversation.

“i heard that gojo‘s wife has no job! how pathetic!” said the woman. “and not only that, but her husband has to work everyday! how sad, i could never.” the old lady said, snickering. “all she does is stay at home cooks for her husband a cold meal! i bet her husband didn‘t care about her.” the two other women nodded, agreeing at the so-called captain.

satoru‘s hand were tight, balled up into a fist. no such person should talk about you like that, never. he ignored the way his palm was bleeding. he ignored the urge to just slit off their throat and started to walk. he could hear them hushing each other when they saw him walking past the group, eyeing the man.

disgusting, he thinks. only y/n belongs to me, he thinks again, heart fluttering at the thought of you.

Roman Reigns: Breaking News (Part II to Don't Forget the Strawberries and Whipped Cream.)

Two Months Later

“Yes girl, I almost cussed that woman out. Talking to me like she stupid.” You laugh with your work bestie, Vallerie, on the phone while relaxing on the living room couch. You had a bowl of popcorn in your lap as you prepared for movie night with your husband, who should return home in a few minutes. He went out to get some dinner being that you both lacked the motivation to cook. However, with a storm now brewing outside, and your favorite Panda Express restaurant being thirty minutes away, he was a little late. You called his phone, but it went straight to voicemail. You rolled your eyes, having remembered telling your hardheaded husband to charge his phone which was at 10% earlier that day. No worries though, he was a safe driver, so you knew he’d be home shortly.

Lately, life has been great. Your newborn baby girl arrived on time, bringing joy to you and your husband’s life. 

He’s been a great support, always making sure he’s doing what he’s supposed to do as a new father. Your daughter was a complete daddy’s girl from the time she exited the womb. The bond between her and her father was heartwarming. You continue to reminisce as you flip through channels, trying to find a good horror movie, but stumbling upon the news instead.

Now, normally, you weren’t a person to watch the news as there was always something bad on it. And not surprisingly, tonight was no different. You look intensely at the TV as the news reporter starts reporting on yet another woman’s body being found in a local abandoned house. You shake your head, turning the volume up, but not too loud, you didn’t want to wake your baby girl who was lying in her bassinet next to the couch.

Good evening everyone, it is yet again another brutal murder victim found in this abandoned house that you all see behind me. The victim, currently referred to as Jane Doe, has yet to be identified as her body was found burned beyond recognition. Authorities say they received a call from a distraught man who’d been walking his dog along the sidewalk when his dog got loose and ran inside the abandoned building upon calling and calling for his dog, the dog finally returned with what appeared to be a hand in its mouth. That’s when the witness immediately called 911 informing authorities of what his dog discovered. Again, the victim has not been identified yet, but upon an autopsy, authorities are hoping to identify the victim and get the answers they need. As you know this is the 15th body that has been discovered in the past four months. Authorities are saying this victim is somehow connected to the previous murders. However, they will need to dig deeper to know for sure what it is, or most importantly, who it is that they’re dealing with. They have advised young women between the ages of 25 to 30 to stay indoors between the time range of 9 to 11 pm as it appears this killer or killers are targeting that age range between that time range. Furthermore………….

You gasp as the new reporter goes on just as your husband comes strolling through the front entrance, whistling to himself. You momentarily turn your head to look at your husband taking off his drenched raincoat.

“Hey baby, sorry I’m late. Weather was crazy out there, but anyways I got our food.” He chuckles lowly, holding up the slightly wet grocery bag that contained your food.

“I’m just glad you’re home safely. You had me worried when you didn’t answer your phone.” You say softly as he takes his shoes off and walks into the living room, placing the food on the coffee table.

“Baby girl,” He says bending down to plant soft kisses to your lips before his eyes flicker to the TV.

“Hmmm…..another murder? What the hell is going on?” he says, shaking his head as he walks over to your sleeping daughter.

“I swear, it’s getting worse and worse. They say this is the 15th murder in the past four months. It’s getting scary out here.” You sigh as you watch him bend down to your daughter’s sleeping form and kiss her cheeks. She stirs in her sleep, a small smile on her face before she stills peacefully. He then walks back over to you and sits next to you, opening your meals.

“Mmm this looks good.” You say as you say a quick prayer before diving into your food.

You were devouring your food, but you looked over and your husband was staring intensely at the TV. You scrunch your eyebrows as you glance at the TV as the reporter is now talking of the 14 women who have been killed in the past four months. You shake your head not even imagining being in their shoes or those of their families. Who could do such horrible things to these women? It damn near made you scared to go outside, but then again, you couldn’t allow yourself to become paranoid.

After all, not only did you need to enjoy life, but you also had a job to fulfill. You were currently a registered nurse working at the local hospital. This job required a lot of you, but you thoroughly enjoyed it as you loved helping people, as cliché as it sounds. You’d be returning to work soon in another two weeks or so as your supervisor wanted you to take some time until you can get settled in as a new parent. Lord knows you loved your baby girl but dammit if she didn’t keep you and your husband up at all times of the night.

You turn your attention back to your husband and again, he’s staring blankly at the tv. You snap your fingers in his face, snapping him out of Lala land.

“You okay baby?” you question, rubbing his shoulder.

He nods his head, smiling over at you.

“Yeah, it’s just…..seeing horrible shit like this just makes me think of you and how crazy I’d go if something ever happened to me. It makes me wanna protect you even more…..people are crazy out here.” He says taking your hands into his and kissing them.

You smile at him planting a kiss on his lips, “Well, if anyone ever tried me, I know I have 6 foot 3, 265-pound wild Samoan to whip their ass.” You tease.

“You know it. Hahaha Let’s change the channel and watch a movie. Smile?” he grins, grabbing the remote.

“Ugh….I heard that movie was creepy.” You frown playfully.

“Don’t worry princess, you can cuddle with me.” Joe teases, as he flips through Netflix.

Two Weeks Later

You’ve finally returned to work after what felt like forever, every staff member greeting you with a warm welcome, having missed you just as much as you missed them. You’d just walked through the doors when your work bestie, Vallerie, greeted you with a bouquet of red roses and chocolate. You giggle, this girl was always spoiling you.

“Hey, my favorite baby mama! How’s my niece and bro-in-law?” she says, wrapping an arm around your shoulder, and walking alongside you.

“Girl they’re doing good. He’s actually off this week so he’ll be watching the little one until we can hire a babysitter.” You say as you both walk to the elevator to get onto the second floor in which you both worked. You were ecstatic that you’d be working nightshift with Vallerie because she always knew how to entertain you and make a long, boring shift go by.

“Girl I’m so glad we work together. We ‘bout to have some fun running off of Starbucks and adrenaline.” She giggles as you playfully roll your eyes at her.

“Chileeee, hopefully, there are no shenanigans tonight. I ain’t got time for these patient's attitudes tonight.” You say just as you two get on the elevator and you press the “2” button.

“Girl bye. Imma let ‘em know right now, don’t ask me for shit. I’m still a little hungover too.” She says, leaning her head against your shoulder.

“V, I’ve already told you about drinking before you get to work. One day they gon’ catch you and fire your ass.” You say sternly.

“And as soon as they do, I’m opening me an Only Fans account and selling feet pics to all the lonely weirdos.” She teases you as you both step off the elevator and onto the medical-surgical unit.

“Alright now…one day you gone get what you ask for. Ouch!” You grin pointing your finger at her as she bites it.

“I hope I do!” she laughs, as you both walk to the nurse’s desk immediately hearing call lights and bed alarms go off.

“Please tell me tonight is gonna be a good night. If not, I’m going back home.” You joke with the charge nurse, Carmen, who was tapping away at her computer.

She glances over at you before her eyes stretch in excitement.

“Heeey boo! We missed you so much! But unfortunately, I have some bad news.” She says pulling you into a hug as you playfully roll your eyes.

“Girl don’t tell me you’re giving me a bunch of mental patients.” You tease as she releases you.

“Naaah but it is gonna be a long and boring shift. Vallerie, you have seven patients already, all of them are pretty good, not requiring much. Y/n, you’re gonna be a sitter for one patient tonight.” Carmen says as Vallerie groans.

“Now how is it she come back and get only one patient?” Vallerie groans, rubbing her head.

“Calm down, V. She’s sitting with this patient as she’s good with the assault victims that we admit here,” Carmen says as she hands Vallerie her assignment charts.

“Oooh okay. Yeah, I think she’s more fit to do that than I am. But yeah, baby mama I’ll catch you in a minute, lemme see what these patients are about.” Vallerie says strolling off down the hall.

“Details.” You say as Carmen walks you down the opposite hall in which all the assault and mental patients are located.

“Yes, so she’s a 27-year-old female, African American admitted this afternoon after she was discovered unconscious behind a dumpster. She’s got slight bruising scattered all over her body, but she’s got a large bruise wrapped around her neck from where she was strangled. She’s very shaken up and was very uncooperative when she came to about an hour ago. The police were here about thirty minutes ago to investigate, but she would tell them anything. Listen, she’s very frightened, but I know you’ll take great care of her.” Carmen says as you nod your head.

“Girl so much is going on around here, makes me a little terrified.” You sigh as you stop in front of a room in which the nurse from the previous shift was watching the patient.

“She’s in here. Layla, this is Y/n. Y/n this is Layla. She’s one of the new nurses here. I’ll let you two do the shift report, so I’ll leave you to it. If you have any questions, lemme know.” Carmen says before strolling down the hall.

“Alright Layla, give me the run down. What am I dealing with?” You say as she smiles at you, pulling a chair next to her for you to sit.

“Okay so……”

She gives you the report on your patient and you couldn’t help but feel sorry for the poor woman. She was a young woman with no family, going in and out of foster homes which led her to being homeless. She then started prostituting for money. Now she’s known as a streetwalker. According to Layla, she’d read that she was a familiar face with the law, having been arrested several times in the past. She sounded like she was a handful. However, it wasn’t an unfamiliar task for you. Being a nurse for so long, you were used to all types of personalities and attitudes in the hospital. The more you read about her the more familiar she sounded. You swear you might have gone to school with her. Maybe you could ask, but of course, you didn’t want to stress her by asking unnecessary questions. You finished reading up on her chart before you decided to introduce yourself to her.

You knock on her door, making sure to approach slowly, not wanting to alarm her.

“C-come in.” you hear a tiny voice say as you walk into the dimly lit room.

“Hi….my name is Y/n, I’ll be your nurse for tonight, okay? Do you need anything right now?” you ask softly as you stand at the foot of the bed to see the woman curled up into a ball like an unborn child in the womb. You couldn’t help but notice she was shaking like a leaf. It made your heart crumble.

“N-no. Umm…actually, may I have some water, please? M-my throat is a little dry.” She whispers finally looking over at you. Her eyebrows scrunch up.

“Of course. I’ll be right back. Just a moment.” You say quietly walking out of there as the air was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. You were used to this though. Usually, patients are a little timid and quiet upon first meeting you, but then they slowly warm up to you once they are reassured you are there to help and not harm them.

You quickly grabbed her a cup of water and began your journey back to her room as your phone buzzed. You stop walking momentarily to pull your phone from your pocket. It’s a text message from your husband.

Hey baby, don’t mean to disturb you but I wanted to check on you.

You smile to yourself as you quickly text him back.

Work is fine so far. How’s my little nugget?

A minute later you get a text back,

She’s actually with my mom. She wanted to see her grandchild, so I just dropped her off. I’m just cruising around the city.

You giggle, shaking your head at your mother-in-law. She loved her new granddaughter and every chance she got; she’d spend time with her. It didn’t matter about the time or place.

Well enjoy yourself, and be safe okay? I love you. See you at 7 tomorrow morning. You text back.

You get back to her room and give her the cup of water. You sit next to her bed as she quietly sips on her water. She kept looking down at her water and then back to you as if to study your face. She looked as if she wanted to ask you something but was too scared to do so. Maybe if you started a conversation, she’d warm up to you. She finished her cup of water before relaxing back in her bed.

“So…….” You say as your voice travels off.

“You look so familiar,” she says quietly.

You smile at her, “I was just saying the same thing about you.”

“What is your name again?” she asks as you answer her, “Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n.”

“D-did you go to Sapphire Hills High School?” she inquires, tilting her head at you.

“Why yes I did, did you?” you ask, getting comfortable in your chair.

“Yes, actually. Wait……you were a straight-A student. Very popular. Cheerleader, right? And….and you used to date the most popular boy in school. He was on the football team. Joe Anoa’i, right?” she says, sitting upright in her bed as if she cracked the code to the most precious puzzle.

“Haha Yes. Married him too.” You giggle holding up your hand to show her your ring delicately placed on your finger.

She pauses, looking a little surprised at this revelation. Married him? Surely, she hadn’t heard that right. You put your hand down, giving her a small smile. Had you said something wrong?

“Oh…..didn’t know he was married. But, I’m not surprised….you two were a cute couple in school. The talk of the whole school. So, ……how long have you two been married?” she asks, her shoulders slumping slightly which went unnoticed by you.

“Six years. Well, we’ll be celebrating six years next week.” You smile looking down at the ring he had specially made for you.

“Wow…that’s a very long time. A-any kids?” she asks as you nod your head, pulling out your phone to show her a picture of your baby girl.

“Yes, actually. Gave birth to her not long ago. She’s so precious.” You giggle, showing her a photo of your baby girl asleep.

“She’s so pretty…..” she says barely above a whisper.

“Thanks. She’s a daddy’s girl already. Got her dad wrapped around her tiny finger.” You grin, putting your phone back in your pocket.

“Haha yeah……” she says lowly, looking down at her fingers.

It grows silent before you cough slightly, wanting to continue the conversation.

“So…what about you? Married? Single? Kids?” you question, crossing your legs.

“Married? No. Kids? I do. A little girl………She’s three years old….. I miss her. Child protective services took her when they deemed me an unfit parent and her father not being a part of her life since I ran away from him…….” She answers, looking away at the window, her eyes seeming to water.

“Are you okay? Did I say something wrong? I’m so sorry. I-“she cuts you off.

“If you don’t mind, I’d like to get a little rest, please.” She says laying down in her bed and pulling the covers over her head as she turns her back to you.

You quietly nod your head and stand to your feet to exit her room. You hadn’t meant to upset her at all. You inwardly sigh as you exit her room to your little nurse’s station. You slump in your chair, feeling a headache form already. The last thing you wanted was to make a patient’s night worse than it already was. Minutes later Vallerie approaches you, her smile turning into a frown seeing the look on your face.

“Rough night already?” she says, taking a seat next to you.

“Girl….it’s gonna be a looooong night.” You say, rubbing your temples.

“Want some Doritos to get you through the night?” she says, opening a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos.

“Yeah…gimme some of those.” You sigh grabbing some of the delicious snack to soothe you.

DARK : S1 - EP1 [ GEHEIMNISSE | SECRETS ]

NOTE: I'm only pouring my thoughts into this post. I'm taking notes every time I watch Dark since I heard the story-line is complicated. Also, my memories suck. It's not spoiler-free, of course. So, only read if you have seen this episode.

So, I have finally started watching this TV series. I was shocked to find that it had aired since 2017 because I've never heard of it before. It should have deserved the hype. What the fuck was I doing in 2017? Oh right, binging Game of Thrones.

Anyway, I've only watched the first episode, and I have to say, I am hooked, like a fish-getting-pulled-with-a-hook kind of hooked. The plot already nudges me in the head to start thinking and memorizing every single detail that will show up on the screen (although, I'm confident to say that I will most likely still miss some stuff). I'm sure that the makers of this series will drop valuable clues (subtle or not). Not to mention, a bunch of characters were introduced only in the first ten minutes and that’s when I feel like I have to start doing the connecting.

So, the episode starts with a grim quote:

Alright, in here, I can guess this is going to involve a series of flashbacks, probably one that is too many to count.

The date is 21st of June, 2019, and a man named Michael has a detailed mind-map filled with photos of, what I assume at first, would be the rest of the characters in the series (in other words, his neighbours). He had photos of them when they were young children and as adults. There were cuts of newspapers on a few of them too. And then, without saying anything, Michael commits suicide by hanging. But he leaves a letter with a warning that said, "Do not open before 4th of November, 10:13 PM."

JONAS KAHNWALD POV

Time-skip, the story now takes place on the 4th of November, 2019, roughly five months after Michael's death. It turns out he has a son named Jonas. I think Jonas suffers from depression after the passing of his father since it's shown that he took pills the moment he woke up. Then, Jonas goes out to meet his therapist named Peter Doppler. They both took a walk in the woods. Jonas was still mad about his father for not telling him why he committed suicide.

When he went to school, he meets his friend, Bartosz. Bartosz is currently dating Martha, who Jonas found shocking. The look he gave suggested something happened between them before. They attended the assembly where Katharina addressed Erik's issue and told everyone if they have any information regarding it, they should come forward.

Later on, Bartosz wanted to go to the cave rumoured to be where Erik hides his "stuff". Jonas was reluctant at first, but agreed to go with him eventually, Martha too. Then out of nowhere, Magnus overheard their conversation and insisted going with them to the cave.

That night, Jonas met with Martha first, who briefly discussed 'the thing that happened last summer'.

Shortly after, Magnus came, bringing along Mikkel.

Jonas and his friends continued to walk until they reach the cave, and Bartosz was disappointed not to find the weed there because Franziska had arrived first and claimed it. Interrupting Franziska's and Bartosz fight, a loud noise emitted from the cave, shocking everyone. Their flashlights go dark. Out of fear, they all ran. The last to run were Jonas and Mikkel. Jonas slipped and fell. He had a hallucination of his father covered in black liquid before starting to run again. But Mikkel was nowhere to be seen.

When he finally reached his friends, Mikkel was not with him, neither was he with his friends.

ULRICH NIELSEN POV

Ulrich's first seen having sex with Jonas' mother, Hannah. I assume a family affair is going on, and I was right. Ulrich has a family comprised of his wife, Katharina, who is a high school principal, and three kids, Magnus, Martha and Mikkel.

I feel like the dialogue above is significant towards the story. This is purely a hunch.

Ulrich works as a policeman along with a woman named Charlotte Doppler. We first see them together being confronted by Erik's parents, who admitted even though Erik used to run away before, he always returned. Ulrich thinks he ran away, but Charlotte thought otherwise, and she seemed to have set him off when she implied the situation is not the same as Ulrich's brother disappearance, which happened thirty-three years ago. Okay, so far, there have been two (prominent) people missing in Winden. I think they didn't have much luck in finding Ulrich's brother.

Ulrich's mother, named Jana claimed to have seen a creature roaming the woods, describing it to have a gigantic head. At this moment, I couldn't help but feel like this is some Stranger Things shit. Also, she found a snack wrapper his brother used to love before he went missing. Jana believes something is happening out there that their minds can not comprehend, and it's the same thing that happened 33 years ago. At this point, I'm starting to think, okay, what is up with 33 years ago?

When Ulrich heard the news that his son, Mikkel has gone missing, Ulrich ran into the forest yelling out his name. Dawn arrives, and he didn't find his son. Then, he heard a dispatcher's call claiming they found a child's body. Ulrich rushed to witness it. But after thoroughly checking to make sure it's Mikkel, it turns out the child wasn't Mikkel. I was also suspicious to see the child, because, based on his clothing, it wasn't the clothes Mikkel wore the night he went into the woods. Also, the child's eyes had burn marks for some reason. I’m suspecting it’s Ulrich’s brother. He has been missing for 33 years and if he died somewhere in between, he would not be the same age as Ulrich.

HANNAH KAHNWALD POV

When Jonas complained about the expired food and lack of electricity in the house, he yelled for his mother. His mother, named Hannah, was having sex with a man named Ulrich. I don't think Jonas knows about this. We'll see how this will fare in the future.

Hannah goes to the nuclear power plant with a large briefcase. It turns out she is a massage therapist and had massaged Aleksander, the power plant's director. He's worried about the nuclear power plant. He mentioned that it had been 33 years since the day he came to Winden. He looks like a bad guy to me. I don't think his work is clean. He gives off this Russian villain vibe who wants world domination. 

Hannah went to school to attend the meeting. She meets Katharina. Katharina hasn't completely suspect her cheating with her husband. She left quietly and went outside to smoke. She met Ulrich, who was on his way, but stopped to meet Hannah.

REGINA TIEDEMANN POV

Regina Tiedemann answers a phone call from her bank who has been in business with her hotel for 20 years. She explains the reason why her hotel's business isn't good lately was due to Erik's disappearance, but it sounds like the problem has been going on for longer than two weeks. Then, Regina became angry with the bank's representative and slammed the phone down. She also mentioned that she build her hotel business by herself without help.

In the meeting, Regina had disagreements with Katharina, and when she said that Katharina should "mind her own problems", Katharina looked offended.

Everyone in the meeting received a phone call at the same time. It’s probably because of the kids reporting to the police that Mikkel has gone missing.

INES KAHNWALD POV

The old lady who's ripped out of the Kahnwald Family picture turned out to be Ines Kahnwald. In here, I don't know who she is, and the episode didn't explore about her yet. However, when Hannah called her, it doesn't seem to be her mother, so I'm guessing it's Michael's mother? Maybe. Also, Hannah seemed to harbour hate for Ines. She has Michael's suicide note and has been waiting for the whole day just to read it. When Ines finally opened it at 10:13, the camera didn't show the contents of the letter, nor did Ines read it out loud. Later, she placed the letter back in a box and cried. Perhaps the contents of the note will be explored in future episodes. I'm dying to know what's written in it.

OTHER CLUES:

In Winden's Rest Home, an old man named Helge repetitively says "It's going to happen again. It's going to happen again. It's going to happen again." What's going to happen? He knows something.

Helge then walked out of the rest home heading somewhere, chanting the same words. Eventually, Helge arrived at the school and walked into the meeting. Charlotte stopped him. He asked if it was too late before being escorted out.

A man walked out of the cave wearing a raincoat with a hoodie. Who is this man? I feel like he's the reason why Erik's missing. He could have kidnapped Erik or something.

The scene that surprised me was when they showed Erik being held somewhere in a brightly-lit room with an electric chair in the middle of it. It got me thinking where he could be. Was he abducted? Or did he go there willingly? The episode ends with Erik tied to the electric chair, and his eyes are blocked by a metal covering.

Despite being a therapist himself, he seemed to be troubled with something and he’s keeping secrets from his wife. I’m looking at him as a major suspect though. Not sure if the other characters are going look the same way as I do.

MY THEORY:

So my theory is this. I think Erik is hidden somewhere in the cave and the only person who knows the ways of the cave is the man in a raincoat. The deceased child found in the woods probably met the same fate as Erik. I think he got kidnapped before, and then this man in the raincoat did some experiments on him, resulting in him dead. This situation doesn't look good for Erik, though. I have a feeling he's going to die.

Also, why is it that whenever the camera showed the cave or the nuclear power plant, a forbidding soundtrack starts to play. What the fuck is going on—

(CNN) - While the wildfires raging in the Amazon rainforest may constitute an "international crisis," they are hardly an accident.

The vast majority of the fires have been set by loggers and ranchers to clear land for cattle. The practice is on the rise, encouraged by Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil's populist pro-business president, who is backed by the country's so-called "beef caucus."

While this may be business as usual for Brazil's beef farmers, the rest of the world is looking on in horror.

So, for those wondering how they could help save the rainforest, known as "the planet's lungs" for producing about 20% of the world's oxygen, the answer may be simple. Eat less meat.

It's an idea that Finland has already floated. On Friday, the Nordic country's finance minister called for the European Union to "urgently review the possibility of banning Brazilian beef imports" over the Amazon fires.

Brazil is the world's largest exporter of beef, providing close to 20% of the total global exports, according the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) -- a figure that could rise in the coming years.

Last year the country shipped 1.64 million tonnes of beef -- the highest volume in history -- generating $6.57 billion in revenue, according to the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec), an association of more than 30 Brazilian meat-packing companies.

The growth of Brazil's beef industry has been driven in part by strong demand from Asia -- mostly China and Hong Kong. These two markets alone accounted for nearly 44% of all beef exports from Brazil in 2018, according to the USDA.

And a trade deal struck in June between South America's Mercosur bloc of countries and the European Union could open up even more markets for Brazil's beef-packing industry.

Speaking after the agreement as announced, the head of Abiec, Antônio Camardelli, said the pact could help Brazil gain access to prospective new markets, like Indonesia and Thailand, while boosting sales with existing partners, like the EU. "A deal of this magnitude is like an invitation card for speaking with other countries and trade blocs," Camardelli told Reuters in July.

Once implemented, the deal will lift a 20% levy on beef imports into the EU.

But, on Friday, Ireland said it was ready to block the deal unless Brazil took action on the Amazon.

In a statement Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar described as "Orewellian" Bolsonaro's attempt to blame the fires on environmental groups. Varadkar said that Ireland will monitor Brazil's environmental actions to determine whether to block the Mercosur deal, which is two years away.

He added Irish and European farmers could not be told to use fewer pesticides and respect biodiversity when trade deals were being made with countries not subjected to "decent environmental, labor and product standards."

In June, before the furor over the rainforest began, the Irish Farmers Association called on Ireland not to ratify the deal, arguing its terms would disadvantage European beef farmers.

Deal or no deal, Brazil's beef industry is projected to continue expanding, buoyed by natural resources, grassland availability and global demand, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

And, with that growth, comes steep environmental costs.

Brazil's space research center (INPE) said this week that the number of fires in Brazil is 80% higher than last year. More than half are in the Amazon region, spelling disaster for the local environment and ecology.

Alberto Setzer, a senior scientist at INPE, told CNN that the burning can range from a small-scale agricultural practice, to new deforestation for mechanized and modern agribusiness projects.

Farmers wait until the dry season to start burning and clearing areas so their cattle can graze, but this year's destruction has been described as unprecedented. Environmental campaigners blame this uptick on Bolsonaro, who they say has encouraged ranchers, farmers, and loggers to exploit and burn the rainforest like never before with a sense of impunity.

Bolsonaro has dismissed accusations of responsibility for the fires, but a clear shift seems to be underway.

And if saving the rainforest isn't enough to convince carnivores to stop eating Brazilian beef -- the greenhouse gas emissions the cattle create may be.

Beef is responsible for 41% of livestock greenhouse gas emissions, and that livestock accounts for 14.5% of total global emissions. And methane -- the greenhouse gas cattle produce from both ends -- is 25 times more potent that carbon dioxide.

An alarming report released last year by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, said changing our diets could contribute 20% of the effort needed to keep global temperatures from rising 2°C above pre-industrial levels. Namely, eating less meat.

Still, global consumption of beef and veal is set to rise in the next decade according to projections from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

A joint report predicted global production would increase 16% between 2017 and 2027 to meet demand.

The majority of that expansion will be in developing countries, like Brazil.

France's Macron calls Amazon rainforest fires an 'international crisis'

(CNN) - French President Emmanuel Macron has angered his Brazilian counterpart by calling the wildfires blazing in the Amazon rainforest an "international crisis" that should be on the agenda at the G7 summit in Biarritz.

"Our house is burning. Literally. The Amazon rain forest -- the lungs of our planet which produces 20% of our oxygen -- is on fire. It is an international crisis," Macron tweeted Thursday.

"Members of the G7 Summit, let's discuss this emergency first order in two days!" he said, adding the hashtag #ActForTheAmazon.

On Friday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reiterated Macron's stance and said that international cooperation is needed to protect rainforests.

A Downing Street spokesperson told CNN that Johnson believes that "we need international action to protect the world's rainforests" and he "will use G7 to call for a renewed focus on protecting nature and tackling climate change together."

Earlier, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said that he would be ready to block a trade deal between the European Union and South American trade bloc MERCOSUR unless Brazil acted on the Amazon.

Brazil's far-right president Jair Bolsonaro blasted Macron's offer as "sensationalist" and accused him of using the fires for "political gain."

"I regret that President Macron is seeking to instrumentalize an internal issue in Brazil and in other Amazonian countries for personal political gains," Bolsonaro tweeted.

"The suggestion of the French president that Amazonian issues be discussed in the G7 without countries in the region participating is reminiscent of a colonial mindset inappropriate in the 21st century," he said in a second tweet.

The G7 nations are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US.

Brazil's space research center (INPE) said this week that the country has seen an 85% increase in fires this year, compared with the same period last year. More than half were in the Amazon region, spelling disaster for the local environment and ecology.

And 99% percent of the fires result from human actions "either on purpose or by accident," said Alberto Setzer, a senior scientist at INPE. The burning can range from a small-scale agricultural practice, to new deforestation for a mechanized and modern agribusiness project, Setzer told CNN by email.

Environmental organizations and researchers say the wildfires were set by cattle ranchers and loggers who want to clear and utilize the land, emboldened by the country's pro-business president.

Amnesty International on Thursday said responsibility for the fires "lies squarely with President Bolsonaro and his government," adding that his government's "disastrous policy of opening up the rainforest for destruction (is) what has paved the way for this current crisis."

In a Facebook Live video Thursday, Bolsonaro suggested multiple parties -- including ranchers, NGOs and indigenous communities -- could be to blame.

"Who carries this out? I don't know. Farmers, NGOs, whoever it may be, Indians, whoever it may be," Bolsonaro said. He went on to say there are "suspicions" that ranchers are behind the forest fires and appealed to the Brazilian people to "help us" combat the blazes.

'LOOKING AT UNTOLD DESTRUCTION'

The Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest in the world and accounts for at least 10% of the planet's biodiversity.

It's home to huge numbers of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles -- 75% of which are unique to the Amazon. A new plant or animal species is discovered there every two days.

But the forest and its inhabitants are facing an unparalleled threat from deforestation -- 20% of the Amazon biome has already been lost to mining, logging, farming, hydropower dams and roads, according to the World Wildlife Fund.

Deforestation accelerated more than 60% in June 2019 over the same period last year, INPE's data shows. The Amazon lost 769 square kilometres, a stark increase from the 488 sq km lost in June 2018. That equates to an area of rainforest larger than one-and-a-half soccer fields being destroyed every minute each day.

The Amazon forest also produces about 20% of the world's oxygen and is often called "the planet's lungs."

Before the fires, land conversion and deforestation caused the Amazon to release up to 0.5 billion metric tons of carbon per year, according to the WWF. Depending on the damage from the fires, that release would increase, accelerating climate change.

"The Amazon is incredibly important for our future, for our ability to stave off the worst of climate change," said Christian Poirier, the program director of non-profit organization Amazon Watch. "This isn't hyperbole. We're looking at untold destruction — not just of the Amazon but for our entire planet."

ENVIRONMENTALISTS ARE BLAMING BOLSONARO

More than two-thirds of the Amazon are located in Brazil and environmental groups accuse Bolsonaro, who has previously said he is not "Captain Chainsaw," of relaxing environmental controls in the country and encouraging deforestation.

When running for president, Bolsonaro made campaign promises to restore the economy by exploring the Amazon's economic potential. Now, environmental organizations say he has encouraged ranchers, farmers, and loggers to exploit and burn the rainforest like never before with a sense of impunity.

The pro-business Bolsonaro has hamstrung Brazil's environmental enforcement agency with budget cuts amounting to $23 million -- official data sent to CNN by Observatorio do Clima shows the enforcement agency's operations have fallen since Bolsonaro was sworn in.

The director of Brazil's space research center INPE was recently fired after defending satellite images that showed deforestation was 88% higher in June than a year earlier -- data which Bolsonaro characterized as "lies."

"The vast majority of these fires are human-lit," said Amazon Watch's Poirier, adding that even during dry seasons, the Amazon -- a humid rainforest -- doesn't catch on fire easily, unlike the dry bushland in California or Australia.

Farmers and ranchers have long used fire to clear land, said Poirier, and are likely behind the unusually large number fires burning in the Amazon today.

This year's fires fit with an established seasonal agricultural pattern, said CNN meteorologist Haley Brink. "It's the best time to burn because the vegetation is dry. (Farmers) wait for the dry season and they start burning and clearing the areas so that their cattle can graze. And that's what we're suspecting is going on down there."

It’s been really cold these past few days.

The mail carrier was good enough to make sure I had the coupon mailer to burn in case I get too cold. I have not received the coupon mailer lately, only when the heater is full of ice did they send the coupon junk mail fire starter, but, I can’t cut the downed trees that are already on the ground in my yard because the mail carrier terror cell and it’s extension of county, state, and federal terror cells will shoot at me while I cut the fire food.

Someone else was cutting some firewood at one of the neighbor terror cells, in the dark, while I was thawing out the heater at my house.

I was wishing for the compressor to have cycled through and melt away the ice like it’s supposed to do, but, the ice is solid all around the perimeter of the unit, about two inches thick of ice all in the fins that are there. It’s pretty clear that someone was there with a squirt spray bottle putting layers of water to make all of that ice. I scraped away what I could, but there are terror soldiers at Chapman’s watching me and others at Strong’s showed up there as soon as I plugged in the extension cord to start melting that big blob of ice that is inside of the thing.

I noticed that the Monroe chicken coup has a few heat lamps turned on inside, so, the Monroe chickens are warmer than I have been, probably less anesthetic poison gas there too. That’s good news.

The Adobe Flash window pop-up happens from time to time saying that support is no longer available after 12-2020. That one changed color recently, was a lighter color grey, is now a darker grey on recent appearances. That Adobe one was accompanied by more intrusive activity in my screenshots folder, the contents of the folder are going crazy when go in there to put one here. The view changes from top to bottom and then from bottom to top, newest screenshots go top to bottom, and vice verse when I try to find what I am looking for.

That other window about Google Earth happened today, I have not used Google Earth in many months.

The computer is going all kinds of hay-wire since Joe Biden terror team took the White House.

I do scans and nothing but more problems happen as result. Have to reset the modem many times per day.

I cannot reach help. I need medical attention. Others are worse condition than I am, and no help has come.

The most recent glitch was just now when the Firefox Browser, and the Internet Explorer both would not connect to Twitter. Internet Explorer message said “This browser is no longer supported by Twitter” and a blank page happened with Firefox, I did a scan, and that is when the Adobe Flash window showed up, while Twitter tells me I am in control once it finally did connect after many scans and modem resetting.

Wind is a form of solar energy caused by a combination of three concurrent events:

The terms wind energy and wind power both describe the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. this mechanical power can be used for specific tasks ( such as grinding grain or pumping water) or a generator can converted this mechanical power into electricity.

A wind turbines turns wind energy into electricity using the aerodynamic force from the rotor blades. which work like an airplane wing or helicopter rotor blades. when wind flow across the blades, the air pressure across the two sides of the blades decreases. The difference in air pressure on one side s of blades creating both lift and drag. The force of the lift is stronger than the drag and this causes the rotor to spin. the rotor connects to the generator, either directly ( if it's a direct drive turbine) or through a shaft and a series of gears a gearbox that speed up the rotation and allow for a physically smaller generators creates electricity.

Land Based Winds:

Land based wind turbines range in size from 100 kilowatts to as large as several megawatts.

Offshore wind turbines tend to be massive and taller than the statue of liberty.

They do not have the same transportation challenges of land based wind installations, as the large components can be transported on ships instead of on roads.

THE POLITICS AND PROFITS OF HAZE

A. INTRODUCTION

The haze hanging over the triangular region encompassing Malaysia, singapore and Indonesia, has been especially bad this time. Public health and rights are no doubt under siege. This is a result of slash and burn agricultural or palm farming in Indonesia and Borneo, coupled with an especially prolonged dry spell or drought. 

B. THE POLITICS of PALM

Firstly, the term “Transboundary haze”  - what does this mean? Is nature supposed to recognize artificial boundaries? We shouldn’t either. Borders are dumb and fake. They are designed to keep us isolated or penned in silos, with overpriced and useless military establishments, to protect the elites or one percenters, from the masses. Observe what the tribes can do to the Arabian oil installations a few days ago with a few armed drones (1). The most sophisticated armed forces in the world couldn’t stop that! It’s reminiscent of the Gerald Butler movie, “Angel has Fallen” which depicts how multiple armed drones can make the most protected person in the world so vulnerable (2). It is also a lesson about the unsustainability of bloated military expenditures and their fake relationship to national security. 

Back to the haze  - the fact it encompasses the region is the real issue. Remove the borders and the problem will be dealt with effectively. For now, everyone is in a blame game – it’s political (3). Truly, there appears to be a glaring lack of commitment to our common heritage among the political leaders in the region. That’s what borders do. Every issue or tragedy is compartmentalized. The people divided and weak. The ruling elites wouldn’t have it any other way.

The sources of the haze problem are no doubt, slash-burn farming and prolonged dry weather. The first an economic, while the second a climatic issue. Both are human-made. A corporate palm oil lobby is reported to have denied direct responsibility in the first instance. Instead, they pointed the finger at the small farmers next door to their plantations, for slashing and burning (4). Is this silly PR stunt a demonstration of responsible leadership?

C. HIDING BEHIND THE SMALL FARMER

Now let’s see, the small palm grower harvests his crop and then trucks same to his sophisticated processing plant where the palm seeds are crushed and processed into oil. Following that, he trucks the oil to the nearest seaport to load onto his multi-million dollar palm oil tankers for shipment to the consuming markets. Let’s try to understand this picture – the small grower does all these? How? He’s barely making ends meet with his small farm!

Like most things named “business,” the big guys have the wherewithal – by this I mean cheap financing, cheap labour, modern factories, logistics and supply chains, political connections, PR agents, negligible tax exposure (singapore, Labuan, etc.) and large plantations, to game or monopolize the business. The small farmer sells his produce for processing, which are very costly contraptions and are therefore owned by the corporations. These few big guys control the business from A to Z. The small farmer is at their mercy in terms of the price for their produce and hence, for their survival. The corporations and their political patrons are merciful of course – they let him and his family subsist, as slave labour in the plantation. Bullying as this has few equals. 

D. WOOL OVER OUR EYES

Some of these corporations have “audited” sustainable practices (5). That is, they are officially certified to be environmentally-friendly. I used to work for a major petroleum company. I can testify to what their “audit for corporate and environmental risk management” is worth – zilch. That’s because many employees and contractors for a corporation are careerists. They are not paid or needed to think critically. Instead, they adhere robotically to the commercial imperatives of their corporate culture. Which reminds me of something the US Secretary of State in the 1970s, Dr. Henry Kissinger reportedly said about his staff – they may not be competent, but are loyal (6). That’s what “institutionalized meritocracy” is about folks. We only need to be loyal to be successful in our career. Seriously, unless we start to take things into our hands and work positively to eradicate the causes of the haze, nothing is going to change.

Many years ago, a major maritime accident occurred off the pristine waters of Australia. It centered on an old rust bucket, named Kirki. The subsequent investigation by the Australian maritime transport authority (a very competent bunch of pros) discovered glaring omissions to safety by the oil company and the ship managers concerned (7,8). The same oil company also regrettably was involved in a tragic accident and oil spill in the US Gulf coast years later (9). The financial claims for this are stupendous, illustrating the massive affliction to life and the environment (10). Tragedies as these are avoidable if we had more professionals and less careerists in charge.

Political and corporate leadership built on old boys’ club, ethnicity, family, clan, religious or masonic network is NO LEADERSHIP. We the People should not look to them to solve our problems or to rule over us.

E. WHAT WE CAN DO

Hold those responsible DIRECTLY accountable.

Years ago, I wrote to the governments of the region about tackling the haze. A simple solution was proposed – haul the corporate heads of the major palm companies before the world’s mass media and ask them collectively how they are going to solve the problem they have created! Here’s an excerpt :

“There is little benefit in a blame game………

Actively involve and hold accountable……the corporations having a direct or indirect stake in the blazing landholdings. By this, a simple call to the CEOs of the companies to step forward and give a blanket undertaking that they will do all within their power…..to reduce and ….eliminate the threat of haze-causing fires on their landholdings. The region’s public health demands this. This undertaking will be made public at a press conference called by ASEAN ministers and attended by the CEOs. The CEOs are to be held personally responsible for the fires not only within their landholdings, but also to those which their companies have a commercial arrangement – their supply chain. I am sure this complies with acceptable sustainable requirements.” (11)

Sadly, nothing was done then, and nothing again now. The reason I believe, remains the cozy and symbiotic relationship among the political, business and media elites in the region - a clubby bunch, as shown by this chart. Four ASEAN countries among the top 10.

Some years ago too, I wrote to the governments in the region about coordinating their efforts to deal with climate changes, especially the need to develop strategies and technologies for abating same. Again, nothing was done, as we can see from this current and intense dry spell, which has normalized in the last few years.

F. CONCLUSION

The haze will go on recurring. It is an evironmental disaster. We will be wise to avoid blaming the small farmers. They have been victimized enough (13). Farming is their livelihood. Stick the blame where it truly belongs – irresponsible, avaricious and crony political, corporate and media leaders. Hold them accountable. It is our right.

Analysis of Safety Compliance and Accident Impacts on Lost time Performance of Small Scale Automotive Maintenance Workshops in Calabar - Juniper Publishers

Abstract

The objective of the present research is twofold; first to assess the level of safety compliance practices among artisans and secondly, to measure the impacts of unplanned lost time emanating from accident on time performance of small-scale auto maintenance firms. Ninety different auto-maintenance jobs executed by Automobile, Heavy duty, Generator and Panel beater auto firms between, January to December, 2016 were sampled using direct observation. Furthermore, primary data collected were analyzed using MS Excel 2013 and Minitab 17 software. Results revealed the mean performance rating of workshops on the availability and usage of personal protective equipment as 143.9 and 154.7. While 224.2 and 302.7 constitutes respective poor usage rate and non-availability of (PPE) in the respective workshops. Results further revealed 58.2% as average productive lost time rate resulting from accident occurrence. Conversely, regression analysis revealed that a unit increase of 659.2, 63.5 and 82.8 in accident, severity and lost time index, caused a decreased of -150.8 in overall productivity lost factor. With a coefficient of determination (R2) of 72.01% at p-value less than 0.005. Hence, a positive and significant relationship between accident and auto mechanics time performance exist. Therefore, sensitization of stakeholders in this sector on the usage of PPE and the need to make safety their priority as well as regular inspection for safety compliance by regulatory bodies are recommended to build customers trust and improve productivity in this sector.

    Introduction

Dhillon et al. [1], described maintenance as appropriate actions made for retaining an item/part/equipment, or restoring it to a given condition. Concisely, maintenance is undertaken to restore broken equipment’s, preserve equipment conditions and prevent their failure, which ultimately reduces production loss and downtime as well as the associated safety hazards. In Nigeria, large proportion of auto maintenance firms are classified as “small scale”. This classification owe to the fact that the sector is characterized by low capital output ratio, that is the ratio of capital level relative to output is low, [2]. SMS automotive maintenance firms are vital to human resources in the automobile industry in virtually every nation’s economy due to its significant contribution in terms of job creation. Kayemuddin & Kayumm [3], described the automotive maintenance workshop as a category of small scale industry that contributes about 8.8% to the GDP of a nation’s economy. In Nigeria, the industry records about 3billion as turnover annually to the local economy according to the regulatory body of mechanics in Nigeria, National Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) in its report “Nigeria economy and the mechanic” of October 12, 2012. Auto mechanics are involved in the repairs and maintenance of automotive facilities such as vehicles and generating plants to enhanced optimum performance when they breakdown [4]. Other task includes replacement of worn mechanical parts that can cease transmission or prove unsafe for effective operation, [5]. SMS auto maintenance firms are characterized by preventive and corrective maintenance. Preventive maintenance is defined as a series of pre-planned tasks performed on auto facility either according to manufacturer’s schedule to counteract the known causes of potential failures of the intended functions of an asset [6]. Preventive maintenance (PM) plays a vital role to mitigate if possible avoids potential stoppages and disruptions of equipment or machinery from occurring in daily operations. While corrective or breakdown maintenance, is performed when a system or machine fails. It includes repair and replacement of failed parts to create an optimal performance again. Corrective maintenance activities are, in contrast to preventive maintenance, not schedulable [7]. This makes them harder to plan and more costly to perform. However, hardly are these activities or maintenance by auto mechanics completed without hazards, thereby stimulates negative effects such as time delay, increased costs, and productivity loss. The imbalance relative to safety compliance among auto mechanics during maintenance has significantly impacted performance time and is a major concern [8,9]. Industrial safety, health and environmental management opined that in order to meet the different needs which are seen in the present day industrial environment which demands increased production, high efficiency, and cost control etc. The subject of safety, health and environment must come into play, otherwise any neglect in these aspect can prove very costly. Neglect of safety at any stage can result into disasters leading to loss of human life and production. Thus, it is imperative to evaluate the level of accident/ injuries and safety compliance in small scale auto maintenance firms and its impact on time performance.

An accident is defined as any unplanned event that result in the combination of the following consequences; physical injury, lost time case, loss of property and number of fatalities [10]. While safety measures are facilities and strategies that are put in a workplace place to prevent or reduce accident during various stages of project [11]. Accordingly, Oisamoje, and Enaruna [12] defined health and safety management as an area that is concerned with ensuring the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. Consequently, there are several risks which expose auto mechanics to workplace accidents/ injuries in the automotive maintenance workshops. Some of these risks include exposure to chemicals, strenuous work postures, and the use of improperly specified tools and lack of safety compliance [13-15], thus, affecting their performance. However, to efficiently regulate an issue, one should satisfactorily define the problem. Bozena [16], opined that the level of accident in a particular sector like the construction industry is estimated by the labour force in the analyzed sector, the number of victims of accidents at work and the number of days lost resulting from accident at work. The Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), established specific indicators that enables any company to report their number of accident and accident index (defined as the number of accidents per 100,000 working persons). Also, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, established specific models that enable any firm to report their recordable incident rates, lost time rates, and severity rates, so that they can be compared with other industry or group. According to OEHS, the standard base rate for the calculations is based on a rate of 200,000 labour hours. This number (200,000) equates to 100 employees, who work 40 hours per week, and who work 50 weeks per year. Using this standardized base rate, any company can calculate their rate(s) and get a percentage per 100 employees. However, one of the limitations about this approach is that none of the above indicators provides any evidence about the achieved values of productivity indices. It is therefore proposed in the current study to take productivity indices, e.g. delivery efficiency into account in accident level assessments of automotive maintenance firms. This is because unplanned idle time resulting from industrial accidents reduces real time productivity and increases delay. Downtime or lost time refers to the variation between the estimated finish and the actual finish time of tasks either resulting from ill health or injuries/accident. Lost time is an imperative issue in industries because of its relation to productivity and business profitability [17]. Evaluating the causes and impacts of accident/injuries on productivity performance in automotive maintenance workshops, has become a necessity. Because productivity rises as the number of incident related cases reduces, and the use of properly designed tools increases [18]. Hence, small scale automotive maintenance firms needs to be aware that lost time resulting from the use of improperly designed tools and lack of safety compliance as well as accident/injuries cases, whether planned or unplanned, is very costly.

    Methodology

Primary data used in the current study were basically obtained through survey design approach with direct observation of two automotive maintenance workshops each sampled across forty-five different small scale auto firms, amounting to ninety observations. This comprises of heavy duty, automobile, generator and panel body auto firms caught across the seven layouts (Eight- Mile, Diamond Hill, Anantigha, Essien Town, Ikot Enobong, Big- Qua Town and Etta-Agbor) in Calabar metropolis where SMS auto firms are found in their large numbers. Each auto firms had a work force of at least four to six artisans performing different repairs at a duration of 8hours daily (i.e. the peak hours of industrial activities), for 6days per week, excluding Sundays, for a period of twelve months between January to December 2016. The data collected was tabulated and classified according to maintenance characteristic (i.e. initial and actual final time, actual performance, number of incident/injuries that resulted to lost days overrun cost and time, and the severity rate of incident). This was done to ensure that all variables considered were clearly defined. Furthermore, Microsoft Excel 2013 and Minitab 17 statistical tools were used for analyses of the data. Additionally, the analysis on proper usage and safe handling of tools were ranked by the measurement of the relative index ranging from (1= Excellent, 2= Very Good, 3= Poor, 4= none). Where 1 to 3 implies the level of usage or availability of tools impact, to ascertain the mean rating of each response on safety compliance in SMS auto maintenance firms.

Eqns. (2), (3), (4) and (5) defines the magnitude of lost time index, time index, time performance achieved and productive lost time rate of each project at completion [19-23].

Also, Eqn. (6) defines the Overall Productivity lost factor (OPLF) of each auto firm’s project executed.

OPLF helps to break down the reasons for productivity losses into three main factors, which include; accident index, lost time index and severity. Ideally, one fundamental area that every organization can improve upon is productive efficiency/ conformity and one of the best measures is OPLF. A possible explanation to this argument is that organizational efficiency has relevance for business profitability.

Accident index and severity for each sector was determined as expressed in Eqs. (7) and (8).

Accident index measures the productive time losses resulting from accident from a predetermined sample. And is calculated by dividing the number of incident/injuries in each sector by the total number of observation [12].

The severity index quantifies the average number of working days lost due to a worker’s involvement in minor and serious accidents [16]. Furthermore, multiple linear regression analysis in MS Excel and Minitab 7.1 statistical tools were used to establish the relation between overall productivity lost factor (OPLF) from accident index, lost time and severity index, and graphs plotted accordingly. The element of multiple regressions is expressed in equation (9).

    Results and Discussion

Figure 1 present the result of common injuries/accident identified to be associated with the four selected auto firms (automobile, heavy duty, generator and panel beater workshop) which vary from superficial wounds, dislocation, burns, bruises, cuts, and backache, as evaluated using eqn (6) (Figure 1).

It is obvious from Figure 1, that superficial wounds, burns injuries, and was prevailing among panel body work auto mechanics with an average of 28.1% and 18.7%. Similarly, dislocation injuries/accident was common among heavy duty firms with an average of 44.4% been the highest. This group of auto technicians have to constantly lift heavy items which can strain their back, adopt awkward postures and may spend long hours bent over or lying on their back. Furthermore, cuts and bruises incident cases was found to be common with generator firms. A possible explanation to this finding is that most of this firms lack the basics personal protective equipment, and as such they fail to use them. For instance, auto mechanics in panel beater auto firms reported being aware of the hazards associated with their jobs when interviewed, but stated that awareness did not seem to help reduce the health problems they suffered. Additionally, the analysis on proper usage and safe handling of tools, as depicted in Figure 2 shows that about 55.1% of automotive maintenance firms, lack the ability to handle hand tools before and after each maintenance.

While about 19.2% averagely practiced safe handling of hand tools. Also an average of about 16.6% of these workshops do not even consider the handling of tools as a safety measure to be observed. Also, the proper usage of power tools was marginal with an average of 32.0%. While 28.2% didn’t make any attempt within the period under consideration. The proper usage of compressed air equipment was found to be 2.5% on the average, while 12.8% observed the safety rules of wearing safety glasses or face shield during operation to avoid metal particles into the eye. Also about 29.4% used this equipment poorly by not observing the safety rules, with unavailability of 55.1%. Also, from the result as depicted the proper usage of hydraulic/hoist equipment by auto mechanics was at an average 61.5% and 34.6 marginally applied the safety rules while using it, and 3.8% used it but never considered safety precaution at all level. Furthermore, Figure 2 reveals that only 18.5% auto mechanics appropriately used chain hoist and crane when lifting an automobile engine from the sitting. While 14.2% marginally used it well and unavailability of 67.1% on the average. This is basically found among un standardized workshops, as they lift engine manually using their hands. It was obvious from that safety practice towards equipment maintenance was lacking in most of the repair firms as majority of these mechanics fail to ensure effective cleaning of equipment/ tools before and after use. The unavailability of fire extinguisher among the auto repair firms was on the high side with an average value of 58.9%, while about 20.5% had it in their workshop, but weren’t in good condition. Except for few workshop which had it in good operational condition with an average of 6.4% and 14.1% respectively. According to survey the unavailability of goggles and face shield among auto technicians, especially panel bitters was on the high side with an average value of 70.59%, while about 22.06% had it in their workshop, but was in poor condition. From analysis the unavailability of hand gloves and safety boot among the auto firms was high with an average of 79.69% (approximately 80%).This implies that most local mechanics violate the rule of wearing safety personal protective (e.g. gloves and safety boot) equipment when working. This is because most of the local mechanics were of the opinion that protective equipment must be provided by their masters or owners of the workshops.

Also, descriptive analyses of the ninety maintenance projects of the four sectors (heavy duty, automobile, generator, and panel beater auto firms) evaluated reveals the following findings in studying time performance and lost work days, as presented in Figure 3-6 respectively.

It is clearly seen from the Figures 3-6 the need to maintain close link between time performance and lost time resulting from injuries/accident related cases. Obviously, as time performance (efficiency) reduces, lost time increases. This implies that the relationship between time performance and productivity is inversely proportional i.e. the higher the time efficiency rate, the lower the productive time losses and equally, the lower the time efficiency rates, the higher losses in productivity. Also, Table 1, further present the summary of comparative analyses of time performance and lost time rate inherent in each auto firms.

However, to determine the overall productivity lost factor (OPLF) of each auto firms, the index of accident, lost time index and severity index values were computed as depicted in Table 2. Within these auto maintenance sectors, the accident index range between 0.133, 0.111, 0.155, and 0.277 for automobile, generator, heavy duty and panel beater auto firm. This implies that panel beater autos firms recorded the highest number of injuries with an accident index of 0.277. Thus, recording lost time index of 62 and 2.48 as severity index and 42.69% as overall productivity lost factor. This is repeated for automobile, generator, and heavy duty auto firms respectively as presented in Table 2.

However, an explanation to these findings is that artisans in panel beater auto maintenance firms constantly get in contact with hot surfaces, exhaust pipes, radiator and cooling system pipes, soldering and welding operations due to the nature of maintenance practices.

Furthermore, Table 3 shows the result of the multiple liner regression model formulated to relate overall productivity lost factor with accident index, lost time and severity index as presented in eqn. (9). Table 3 indicates that the accident index has a beta coefficient (  β0) of 659.2 at a probability value of 0.000 < 0.05. Hence, it is significant. This indicates that OPLF decrease by -150.8 when accident index increases by 659.2 when all other independent variable is held constant. For every unit rise in accident index, there was a unit decrease in overall productivity lost factor.

It can then be inferred that accident index has an impacts on overall productivity lost factor. The data further revealed that severity index has a coefficient of 63.5 at a probability value of 0.036 less than 0.05. Hence, it is significant, this indicates that, for each unit increase in severity index, there is a corresponding decrease of -150.8 in overall productivity lost factor when all other independent variables are held constant. Similarly, the data further reveals that lost time has a coefficient of 82.8 at p-value 0.000<0.05. This equally indicates that an increase of 82.8 in lost time caused a reduction of -150.8 in overall productivity lost factor when all other independent variables are held constant. Coefficient of determination (R2)=72.01%. This indicates that all variations in the dependent variables are as a result of the independent variables. That is, 100% variation in overall productivity factor is as a result of changes in accident index, severity index and lost time.

    Conclusion

The impacts of unplanned lost time emanating from accident/injuries on time performance of small-scale automotive maintenance firms has been evaluated using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression technique. Descriptive analysis of ninety auto maintenance jobs executed across Automobile, Heavy duty, generator and panel beater auto firms between January to December, 2016 revealed the mean performance rating of workshops on the availability and usage of appropriate protective equipment were determined as 143.9 and 154.7 respectively while 224.2 and 302.7 constitutes respective poor usage rate and non-availability of appropriate safety equipment in the workshops. Results further revealed an average productive lost time of 58.2% resulting from accident/injuries. Conversely, regression model formulated revealed that a unit increase of 659.2, 63.5 and 82.8 in accident, severity and lost time index, caused a decreased of -150.8 in overall productivity lost factor. With a coefficient of determination (R2) of 72.01% at probability value less than 0.005. Hence, it is concluded that compliance to appropriate safety practice in this sector is very poor due to nonchalant attitude of the operators of these firms toward safety practices as well as inadequate diagnoses tools and supervision by regulatory agencies. This study could also be extended to other local artisans in the small scale industries such as auto electric technicians etc. in Nigeria to possibly identify the risks associated with non-safety compliance and the impacts of occupational accident on productivity performance. Therefore, sensitization of stakeholders in this sector on the need to make safety their priority and regular inspection of these firms for safety compliance by regulatory bodies are recommended to build customers trust and improve productivity in this sector.

Now that President Trump has declassified the documents related to the #RussiaCollusionHoax, as he said he would during my exclusive interview on Herald Radio earlier this month, the truth is finally coming out and the reaction is fierce.

“I think what is really crucially important to remember here is that you had Strzok and Page who were in charge of launching this investigation and they were saying things like, ‘We must stop this president, we need an insurance policy against this president,’” Rep. Lynn Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

“In my view when you have people that are in the highest echelons of the law enforcement of the nation saying things like that, that sounds an awful lot like a coup — and it could well be treason and we need to know more,” she said.

Cheney was referring to texts critical of Trump between disgraced former FBI investigators Peter Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page. The pair worked directly for FBI director James Comey and deputy director Andrew McCabe and conspired with them and others — including members of the Obama administration — to stop Trump from getting elected. After the election, they tried to derail his administration. At the same time, the FBI was also conducting a sham investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails to exonerate her, a conclusion famously announced by Comey.

The investigations are something Attorney General William Barr and the Department of Justice are looking into now, along with the FBI’s inspector general whose long-awaited report is expected to drop any day.

Perhaps Comey, McCabe and former CIA director John Brennan should lawyer up instead of spreading a never-ending stream of lies and disinformation about the president during their perpetual rounds of TV appearances.

Why did Comey tell the President that he (the President)would like McCabe.

I now believe the insurance policy was Comey...and of course, Brennan and Clapper. The important thing for all of us to recognize is that all three were motivated by the highest and purest patriotism. All were completely independent actors. Their actions only seem coordinated because they were applying normal intelligence and law enforcement protocols to a challenging situation. This is the same reason other, "lesser" players also conformed their actions to a standard operational framework. This kind of spontaneous and seamless cooperation reflects the staggering professionalism of the senior levels of the U.S. intelligence community, the FBI and DOJ. While President Obama was surely surprised when he learned about this in the newspapers, he can certainly be proud of the team he assembled.

It appears to me that Obama and his band of traitors loaded up leadership positions with mentally ill fools (liberals) so that he would be able to ignore the Constitution and the rule of law. Stop him from halting the illegal alien inundation.
