So, I’m FINALLY back to my baby. Hopefully the writer’s block will not fight me so much on this. I’d appreciate it. Sorry to make y’all wait so long between chapters, and I wish I could do more to apologize! D:

The show went on as usual that night.

The band played their usual set, Cas served his usual drinks, and Meg fended off more than one unwanted advance by more than one patron. Even Benny went about his usual routine, which of course meant he wasn't seen by any of his coworkers until closing time.

The singer, however, had not forgotten her earlier conversation with the muscle of Crowley's club. In fact, it was all she spoke of when she returned home that night with her pianist.

Dean tried to talk her out of it, tried to explain to her that Benny rarely changed his mind and perhaps his debt was too much for him to bear without Crowley's help.

She, in turn, tried to convince her beau that it wasn't hopeless. She argued that her own charges loomed above them, yet that hadn’t stopped her.

That argument hadn't helped her case, however. All that had done was make Dean angrier.

She could see that he had a defense for his friend on the tip of his tongue, and he was almost physically holding himself back.

She begged to understand, begged to know what was so much worse that Benny was now inextricable from Crowley.

Dean couldn’t answer.

When they finally went to bed, they hugged their respective edges of the mattress instead of each other.

They didn’t speak as they woke from fitful rests.

They didn’t speak as they readied for the day.

They didn’t speak as they drove to the club.

The first time Dean touched Y/N since their argument, it was to steer her away from the bouncer. The first time she heard his voice was when he apologized to Benny, saying that they were needed inside and he’d talk to him later.

She didn’t fight Dean as he gently guided her away from their Southern friend, but she frowned up at the pianist to let him know of her displeasure.

He answered with a tight smile. Her message was received.

The entire day, however, she was not alone again. Not because Dean was at her side any more than usual, but just because of circumstance. It was as if everyone at the club got the secret message to keep her away from Benny. She chalked it up to the fact that everyone was just as busy as usual getting things together for that evening rather than a secret plot to keep the two apart.

She ended up spending most of her time with Meg, helping her set up for the evening in exchange for her hair and make-up services before the performance that evening.

The performance began as usual. Y/N crooned into the microphone as her eyes drifted across the dark sea in front of her. Every night, she could only pick out a few faces, the guests mostly shadows in front of her, which she always assumed was on purpose.

The shadows ebbed and flowed like tides of the ocean. Throughout the evening, she caught the gaze of one of her friends as they went around doing their usual thing, but the mass as a whole remained formless, shapeless.

Finally, she got to her break. She thanked the audience before the boys played her off as she headed backstage.

Meg was already in the hallway, holding a glass of water out for the singer.

“You’re a lifesaver.”

“I try,” the waitress smirked, handing over the glass.

Y/N downed it in two gulps, then handed it back.

“Lemme touch you up a bit before you go back out there.”

The girls disappeared into the back, where Meg spent a few minutes sprucing up the singer. Then she was left alone to enjoy the last few minutes of her break.

A knock came to the door after a minute or two, and Y/N asked who it was.

A Southern drawl answered her, and she allowed him entrance.

Benny entered with a wide smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. He closed the door behind him, then leaned against it, effectively cutting off the only exit.

Y/N sat up a little straighter in her chair, her eyes narrowing at the behavior. Her throat became dry, but she still was able to speak. “Hi-de-ho, Benny. What can I do for ya?”

Benny’s clear blue eyes fell to the floor. “This ain’t about me, sug.”

The singer nodded. “Didn’t think so.”

“The thing is, I like you,” he began. “You can sing, you fit in well enough, and you make Dean happy.”

She flushed a bit. “Most of the time.”

“Most of the time,” Benny nodded, a huff of genuine laughter leaving him.

They were silent for a moment, and then she couldn’t bear it anymore. “…but?”

Benny’s head dropped, but his eyes stayed fixed on her. His shoulders fell a bit, but he still cut an intimidating figure, even as the sadness emanated off of him. “But I can’t just stand around and watch you ruin Dean’s life.”

Y/N’s gaze fell to the floor. “I’m not trying to.”

“Oh, believe me, doll,” Benny laughed again, but there was no mirth behind it. “I know what you’re trying to do.”

“How’d you find out?”

He shrugged. “Wasn’t sure until last time we talked. Heard whispers, saw you actin’ suspicious. Hell, probably took me longer to figure it out ‘cause you were so damn scared of the feds when they came in. But I bet you got over that right quick.”

She couldn’t answer.

Look,” He sighed heavily. “I get it. But it’s gotta be over now. Please don’t make an appointment with me.”

Her eyes snapped up to his, her throat feeling like the Sahara in that moment. “Benny, please.”

“I can’t go against Crowley. You know that.”

“But you could!” She stood, her excitement getting the best of her. “My charges aren’t squat to the feds as long as we help them, and if you come forward, you must know things Dean an’ I don’t! At the very least, you can back Dean up on the beatings!”

“My charges will matter to any flatfoot worth his salt, sweetheart.”

“It can’t be that bad, Benny,” she pleaded. “I mean, I robbed a bank! If you—”

“I killed someone.”

The confession hit her like a ton of bricks.

Benny wasn’t looking at her anymore. “That’s a lie. I killed a lot of people. Feds can’t overlook that. Without Crowley, I’m back in prison. You know what that’s like. I…I can’t do it.” He pushed himself off the wall, reaching behind him to grab the doorknob. “So you either stop this, or Crowley’s making you an appointment with me.”

She remembered Crowley’s threat. She knew what would happen if she was caught.

Benny opened the door, standing in the jamb and clearly fighting to come up with more words to say. “Dean’s my brother; I won’t squeal, doll.” With that, she was alone in the dressing room once more.

Her heart was nearly pounding out of her chest, and she fell back into her chair. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, and certainly couldn’t stand.

Another knock came to the door, and she shrieked in response.

“Jeepers!” came the low voice of Meg from the other side of the door. As it opened, the waitress spoke. “You tryin’ to give a girl a heart attack?!”

But one look at the singer, and Meg’s ire was gone.

The waitress shut the door behind her, rushing in to figure out what was wrong.

Y/N tried to wave her off as best she could, claiming that she was fine, that everything was fine. Meg ran out and back quickly with a glass of water, telling the visibly shaken girl to drink up.

When she had calmed down enough, Meg asked, “Are you okay to go on?”

Y/N nodded. “I’ve already taken too long, I’ve gotta go.”

Meg frowned, but let her friend go. She knew that her break had gone on long enough, and they ran the risk of bringing Crowley’s wrath down upon them if they waited any longer.

Y/N squeezed Meg’s hand as they walked to the door leading back out. The singer turned to her friend and said, “Make me a promise?”

“Sure, what?”

“Make sure Cas has a shot of whiskey waiting for me after the set tonight.”

#like im gonna go to therapy with my ex #because I JUST want to be able to have a normal friendship where they arent phased by my presence #not that they want me there or anything i just want my presence to not effect them in anyway #vut i also want to be able to have a relationship where we can talk about the past and resolve it #because our conversarions are so surface level compared to before #not that talking about our relationship is the only thing i think is deep #i feel like its more of a doorway so we can talk about other things we used to talk about like spiritual stuff idk #but it feels like theyre only going to this therapy session to 'prove that im manipulative'#idk if i am but i have a feeling my therapist is gonna disagree and theyre just gonna drop the therapy session because they didnt hear what #they wanted...#idk #thats just gow im feeling rn #i have a lot of anxiety anticipating this #i just want to get along and be a friend and be able to talk about stuff but they're just always very defensive and idk ig i feel like there #is a lot of miscommunication #im giving up so much on this friendship and i really dont want to but its hard to be friends with someone #who always has to 'watch out' for you being manipulative ir problematic #sometimes im just tryna exist man #why does everything have to be manipulative and problematic #if i defend myself in anyway to this person apparently im manipulative #i hate this

Chaotic communication: COVID-19 is rewriting our cultural rules of connection

30-second summary:

Not only are face-to-face chats more frequent, they’re increasingly unannounced, unplanned and unavoidable. A jarring juxtaposition to our pre-COVID habits. It’s communication chaos.

While it seems haphazard, each call, chat and interaction is an expansion of community that chips away at our cultural fear of IRL intimacy and democratizes digital communities.

This migration gives brands a mandate to expand their offerings to bigger, more diverse groups of consumers as they use live-streaming and digital tools to build new communities all over the country.

The foundational cracks in the influencer veneer have been growing over the past few years, but the COVID crisis provides a magnifying glass that’s amplifying influencer’s social media shortcomings.

Wholesome, positive –if not strange and mindless– content has become a balm to cure our anxiety, a form of self-care that fills a void and provides a sense of calm that sheet masks and sourdough cannot.

When we emerge post-COVID, shell-shocked, knowing that catastrophe can hit again at any moment, we’ll still want straightforward talk from brands. Brands need to learn this lesson quickly if they hope to pivot successfully in the ‘new normal.’

Talk to any Millennial or Gen Z’er two months ago, or… text them; they would say there are fewer things more anxiety provoking than actual, in-real-time phone calls. The abruptness; the uncontrollableness; the awkward pauses. But that was the Old World. In the solitude of COVID induced quarantine, a craving for intimacy and personal connection means consumers, once notoriously adverse to spontaneous, face-to-face communications, are now clamoring to hear each other’s voices and see each other’s face.

Verizon fielded over 800M phone calls per day within the first two weeks the country was locked down; the word “Zoom” has become a stand-in to mean any “video chat,” and apps like Houseparty have seen downloads increase 70 fold.

Not only are face-to-face chats more frequent, they’re increasingly unannounced, unplanned and unavoidable. A jarring juxtaposition to our pre-pandemic habits. It’s communication chaos.

Quarantine and the COVID crisis have totally rewritten our cultural rules of communication. But the frantic ways we’re corresponding now will likely shift the way we connect long beyond the end of lockdown.

Shift 1: A quest for intimacy in digital communities

Your bestie going live. Your boss going live. Your bank going live. When we were ordered to stay home, it only took a matter of days for everyone to start broadcasting themselves, most times to seemingly chaotic and confusing ends.

Recently on IG live, comedian Whitney Cummings agreed to talk to anyone in attendance: she wound up chatting with baby squirrels.

The official, verified account of Skittles has, on more than one occasion, stirred up drama in the comments section of Bowen Yang and Julio Torres’ Instagram Live chats.

Club Quarantine— a daily digital Queer dance party that happens every night via Zoom– allows virtual clubgoers to join in with their cams, or just watch from behind a black tile, eliciting both an exhibitionism and vouyerism harking back to the random recklessness of the bygone Chat Roulette era.

But while it seems haphazard, each call, chat and interaction is an expansion of community that chips away at our cultural fear of IRL intimacy and democratizes digital communities.

Club Quarantine is not just a fun party; it’s a way for young queer people all over the world to be exposed to a community they may never have been able to access, or even imagine, before.

As more white collar workers are beginning to wonder not when they’re going to return to the office, but why they would ever return to an office at all, major coastal cities are staring at an exodus of their creative class and a bit of their cultural capital.

This migration gives brands a mandate to expand their offerings to bigger, more diverse groups of consumers as they use live-streaming and digital tools to build new communities all over the country.

Take The Wing, a women’s co-working space founded in New York City with offices in chic urban hubs like San Francisco and London.

When forced to close, they quickly pivoted from Millennial-pink meeting rooms to Zooms, making the interconnectedness of their community and celebrity-speckled programming accessible online for people all over.

Shift 2: Exasperation with asperation

When the crisis hit, Influencers and celebrities were among the first to draw our ire for using their privilege to improve their situations: fleeing from (highly infectious) cities to (highly staffed) second homes, and broadcasting (off-tune) singalongs after just a few days of being confined to their sprawling estates.

The highly-filtered, everything-is-perfect image that is the hallmark of influencer and celebrity marketing has never been less appropriate than it is now.

In a global crisis, consumers are rejecting content that screams aspiration and are instead looking for ways to share in and mitigate our collective exasperation. So what’s to fill this anti-influencer void? More unpolished, even unhinged, content.

Sixty-four year old character actor Leslie Jordan has seen his following balloon from 80k to 4.2 million thanks to a stream of monologues showcasing the absurd mundanity of lockdown: ironing for fun, baton twirling for exercise, watching porn while eating cereal.

But we’re the stars, too. From live baking and hair-coloring tutorials, to yoga flows in cluttered bedrooms, to organized weekly Zoom sessions, we’re all content creators and each other’s Influencers, now more than ever.

“Coming to you live” from the physical and emotional messiness of quarantine is recalibrating our relationship with reality, causing us to eschew unreasonable expectations and embrace “doing the best we can do” as the new form of “living our best life.”

Heiniken’s recent spot montages the relatable pain points of our endless digital gatherings and nods to the fact that quarantine life isn’t great, but we’re all trying to make it through.

Shift 3: Optimism is self-care

Optimism was already growing as a countertrend to the vitriol on the internet, but today, it’s flourishing.

During the pandemic, against a backdrop of endless doomsday news, we’re clamoring for more optimism. The sarcasm and troll-like tone that was once the hallmark of the internet is being replaced by content that uplifts.

For a moment this week, “Duck Pool Party,” a stream of ducks playing in a pool, was the most viewed Reddit livestream. Even notoriously snarky brands like Wendy’s have shifted their Twitter strategy, at least temporarily, to encourage camaraderie through games, activities and shared stories.

Shift 4: Fascinated with facts

In March, consumers were letting out a collective sigh of exhaustion as their inboxes filled with branded emails detailing how we were all “in this together.”

But against the background of a pandemic, these vague platitudes have a counter-effect, reminding us all just how much these companies haven’t been there for us in the past: what little cooperation we received from airlines and car companies before, and what little practical application they have in this stripped back version of reality.

Instead, we want to hear the straightforward truth.

Unlikely figures like Dr. Fauci and New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo have emerged as the leading men of the pandemic (and even more bizarrely, sex symbols), and Cuomo’s curt, distinctively Dad-toned Powerpoint slides have found a cult-following of their own.

Frito Lay’s COVID-spot “It’s About People” has won praise for saying what they were doing to help employees, instead of selling chips.

But the most trustworthy brand voice comes from a most unlikely player: Steak Umms.

The frozen meat company has emerged as a “voice of truth” thanks to their straight-forward, no-nonsense tweets that are at times, radical, at least for a corporate brand.

Their willingness to tweet bold opinions– and not mild platitudes–earned them double their pre-COVID audience, and the admiration of the internet.

When we emerge post-crisis, shell-shocked, knowing that catastrophe can hit again at any moment, we’ll still want straightforward talk from brands.

Brands need to learn this lesson quickly if they hope to pivot successfully in the ‘new normal.’

My boyfriend drives my car occasionally and my full-coverage insurance will cover him and my car if he were to get in an accident. The latest warnings from Hawaiian authorities say that the volcano’s lava flow is expanding through Kapoho Bay. Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano continues to stream lava from its summit and associated fissures, establishing a fast flowing channel down into the ocean at Kapoho Bay. The lava flows have created an outcrop of new land that will belong to Hawaii County or national park in the future, but in the meantime meany areas will remain uninhabitable. More than 600 homes have now been destroyed by the lava and a further 2,800 people have been evacuated as a result. A recent alert from Hawaii County Civil Defence also warned the rapidly expanding lava is extending south. Kilauea’s lava flow is now extending south of the ocean entry at Vacationland, moving towards nearby Ahalanui Park. Hawaii County Civil Defence warns the primary risk from the flow direction is not too concerning for local residents. The only threat from the volcano remains gases from the ocean entry at the bay, with gases from the fissures and damaging ‘laze’ which harms eyes and lungs being thrown up as a result of the eruption. The authority advises that people near the active flow of the volcano should be weary and take heed of any future warnings. What will happen to Kilauea volcano evacuees? The Hawaii Civil Defence Authority advises that people affected by the volcano can register for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The recovery is staffed with a number of people trained to give assistance to those affected by the disaster, aiming to help them get back on their feet. The American Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has also aided evacuees, offering tax relief by postponing tax payments for those economically effected by Kilauea. The Hawaii County Civil Defence Agency said: “Numerous resources continue to be available to residents of Hawai‘i County who suffered damage or losses from the Kilauea volcanic eruption and recent earthquakes. “817 people have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for assistance either on line or at the Disaster Recovery Center or DRC.” Hawaii State Governor David Ige has also requested additional assistance from the US government, asking for "a full suite of individual assistance programmes". The new assistance would provide short term shelter, crisis counselling, unemployment assistance, disaster legal services, and case management which will enable families to recover. Review of Front Street Apartments Transactions Launched

Maui County Mayor Alan Arakawa has instructed his administration to examine the transactions of the owners of the 142-unit Front Street Apartments in West Maui which had reportedly sought to withdraw from providing low-income housing to tenants.

According to the Front Street Apartment Tenants Group, several million dollars in benefits were given to Front Street Affordable Housing Partners LLC, including more than $2 million in tax exemptions, with the understanding that the apartments would be used as low-income units.

The item has been identified by the Mayor as one of three legislative priorities for Maui County for 2018. In a letter to lawmakers, Mayor Arakawa said the county is in support of preserving the Front Street Apartments as an affordable rental housing project going forward.

The Front Street Apartment Tenants Group further asserts that the county provided the rezoning of parcels and issued waivers on parking requirements and waivers on the contribution of 1.5 acres of park land. The tenant group also states that the owner was granted up to $15.6 million in federal and state tax credits, and more than an estimated $20 million was paid in rent and federal subsidies by tenants in the past 16 years.

“We’d like to thank Mayor Arakawa for taking the lead in this inquiry. All of that adds up to a lot of public investment in the apartments,” said Barbara Henny, co-chair of the Front Street Tenants Group, an organization representing tenants.

“Hawaiʻi’s taxpayers deserve an answer and deserve to get back what it can, whether it’s a rollback in zoning, benefits and the imposition of penalties or the withdrawal of tax exemptions.”

Henny said her group asked Mayor Arakawa to take a hard and thorough look and was grateful that he was exercising what he called “due diligence” in reviewing the issue.

Adam Dornbush of the Honolulu-based Dornbush & Co., the group speaking for Front Street Affordable Housing Partners, reportedly said he was open to negotiations, according to information provided by the Tenants Group. Maui Now reached out to the firm over the weekend, but a request for comment was not returned by the time this story went to publication.

The landowner 3900 Corporation, a tax-exempt 501-C2 firm, bought the eight acres of land from Amfac for $778,000 in 1993, and agreed to lease it to Front Street Affordable Housing Partners in 2001 for 50 years.

The lease rent was scheduled to go up in 2017 to $310,000 a year, according to documents filed with the state. The Tenants Group claims the partnership is using a 2012 IRS tax amendment to pave the way to raise rents to market-price levels for the apartments by August, 2019, an action that they fear would “effectively evict the low-income tenants.”

Several groups, including the more than 2,000-member West Maui Taxpayers Association, have sent letters to state legislators, saying they want the low-income tenants to remain at Front Street Apartments.

Representatives with Ka Hale Ake Ola Homeless Resource Center reportedly told the Tenants Group that any evictions would increase the number of homeless in Lahaina at a time when the Center is “at capacity.”

State Sen. Rosalyn Baker and state Rep. Angus McKelvey plan to introduce measures in the 2018 session to retain Front Street Apartment as low-income rentals.

Front Street Apartment Tenants Group compiled the following list of reasons to support state legislation in keeping rents low at the Front Street Apartments.

1. Why should the state of Hawaiʻi get involved?

The state is already involved. Hawaiʻi taxpayers have already paid millions of dollars to develop Front Street Apartment. There is a public investment of some $40 million put into Front Street Apartments, including upwards of $15.6 million in state and federal tax credits, more than $20 million in tenants payments including renters’ money and federal rent subsidies, and an estimated $5 million in Maui County benefits given to the building and land owner, including more than $2 million in property tax exemptions. The building owner promised as early as 1999 it would operate the Front Street Apartments as low income for 50 years. The Tenant Group claims the owner is now “trying to use a 2012 IRS loophole to convert the 142-units to market-priced rentals and evict the tenants who have been renting in good faith.”

2. Who are these tenants?

In an attempt to be competitive, Hawaiʻi’s visitor industry relies on services that often result in low-paying jobs for residents. According to a Tenants Group survey, 70-80% of the tenants work at these kind of low-paying jobs, many working at more than one occupation, including maids, waitresses, cashiers, condominium cleaners, dishwashers, part-time landscapers and construction workers, part-time entertainers, taxi cab drivers, beauticians and substitute teachers. About 10% are retirees living on a fixed income and another 10% are disabled — a woman on dialysis, a veteran fighting cancer, a native Hawaiian with a severe back injury and his wife who has lupus, a grandmother taking care of her Filipino great-grandchild. This is a multi-ethnic, multi-generation community of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, native Hawaiian, Tongan, Samoan, Chamorro, Hispanic, Vietnamese, and Caucasians, a number of whom have lived on Maui for decades. Many are single parents with children who are trying to create a new safe life after escaping from abuse.

3. What would happen without affordable rentals at Front Street Apartments?

Many of the more than 250 tenants would become homeless in Lahaina, a tourist town second only to Waikīkī as a destination. They earn 50-60% of the median income in Hawaiʻi, that’s half of what a person normally earns. They can’t afford market-price rents on Maui. Rents are going for $1,300 for a studio and $2,300 for a two-bedroom in West Maui. An eviction will expose Front Street Apartment children, the elderly, and disabled to unsafe conditions, add to health problems, and add to the cost of feeding and housing the homeless. Homeless shelters are at capacity and the waiting list for affordable housing is about two years, according to the Maui-based Ka Hale Ake Ola Homeless Resource Center.

4. What are federal officials associated with the US Housing and Urban Development saying about sites like Front Street Apartments?

A study done by HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research said top priority should be placed on retaining low-income housing in high rent areas because such housing will likely cost more to replace and the presence of such low-income housing promotes diversity. Front Street Apartment fits into this description. “This investment may be the most cost-effective way to encourage or maintain some amount of economic integration and diversity.”— (HUD Study 2012, Pg. 80, Affordable Housing at the 15-Year Mark, US Department Of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Policy Development and Research; ABT Associates, August, 2012.)

5. Where does the state and Maui County stand on this issue?

Discussions are still developing, as more information becomes available. The Maui County Council on Dec. 5, 2017 unanimously voted to urge state lawmakers and Gov. David Ige to keep rents affordable at Front Street Apartments. Maui elected officials including state Sen. Rosalyn Baker and state Rep. Angus McKelvey, both West Maui residents, plan to introduce enabling legislation to keep rents affordable at Front Street Apartments. The Front Street Apartment Tenants Group feels state lawmakers need to pass enabling legislation that keep rents affordable for low-income tenants — whatever that solution is.

6. Has the state ever intervened in halting an eviction and providing housing?

Yes. The state helped hundreds of tenants at the multifamily, low-income Kukui Gardens in Chinatown in 2006. In the 1970s, the state built low-rent housing with an option to buy for Filipino residents of Ota Camp who relocated to Honolulu city land at Westloch in Waipahu. Also in the 1970s, Gov. George Ariyoshi successfully led a move to buy hundreds of acres of land at Waiahole and Waikane to preserve farming communities in Windward Oʻahu.

7. How much will it cost?

It’s too early in the process to tell. The building owner has asserted that the appraised value was $8.7 million in 2015 and has asked for $15.3 million for the building based on a formula it said was developed under rules provided by the Internal Revenue Service. But no other appraisal and counter to the asking price is known to have been offered by government entities. The Tenants Group feels state and county officials should take a hard look at the figures used to prepare the appraisal and at the asking price by the Building owner. The Tenants Group also thinks it’s important for taxpayers and government entities such as Maui County to look at rolling back benefits and imposing penalties to the building owner, and perhaps use the money from the rollback along with penalties toward purchasing the property.

8. The Building owner is claiming it is simply following IRS rules and that private entities, the state and the county had an opportunity to buy the property when it was offered in 2015 and that opportunity has come and gone. What’s your response?

The Tenants Group feels it is important to note that less than six years after proposing a 50-year commitment for low-income housing at Front Street Apartments, SunAmerica was part of an investor coalition in 2007 that lobbied for the IRS changes. The Tenants Group believes “this crisis requires extraordinary measures to save this public housing resource in Lahaina and that the state needs to intervene, given the lack of effort by investors and the building owner to negotiate in good faith.”

9. How are tenants at Front Street Apartments doing?

The more than 250 tenants are hopeful that a just and fair solution will be found. The Front Street Apartment Tenants group meets regularly at a nearby church hall to receive new information and organize to fight the eviction. Under federal rules, the Building owner is required to keep rents at low-income levels at Front Street Apartments until early August, 2019, and the Tenants Group hopes the state and county will be able to find a solution to keep rents affordable before then.
