I think Lyney will be pretty interesting especially if he’s the main character introducing us to Fontaine (similarly to like collei and tighnari being the first characters for sumeru). The relationship between magic and law to the truth are very counter to each other, because magic presents falsehood as the truth while law is meant to uncover the truth and judge impartially based on it. I think the fact that we’re seeing a family of magicians in our first banner instead of a judge or a lawyer means a lot of fun things are in store for the Fontaine justice system in terms of how it handles falsehoods presented to it and how it judges what it perceives to be truth.

That his eyes make him look earnest, his fur the most comforting shade of white like cream, the way his ears catch light like stained glass? I think Vasco definitely tries, sincerely and often, but Machete is very reluctant to accept compliments and positive feedback. Especially if it's about something as personal and innate as his looks.

#he quietly spends a lot of time and effort trying to make himself look his best so appearances aren't a trivial thing for him #he's always very clean and neat and presentable #except on those occasions when he's soaked in blood but that's totally besides the point #white fur is kind of high maintenance any tiny bit of dirt or staining becomes an eyesore and if it dries it may be hard to remove #he bathes very frequently way more than average considering the time period #some of the outfits he wears are worth more than the combined lifetime earnings of like six generations of his family #silk was outrageously expensive and the brightest red dye came from pulverized cochineal insects that had to be imported from America #which had been colonized less than a century ago so those tiny little cactus bugs were really troublesome to get and the demand was huge #he doesn't quite have the nerve to wear perfume despite it's widespread popularity at the time #but he makes sure the smell of frankincense burned during church services sticks to his fur and clothes #in general when you spend your entire life around strict emotionally congested highly religious men #you might not end up developing a very healthy self-esteem or body image #once you've internalized that sense of inferiority it's hard to unlearn it #he's so thirsty for approval and praise but when he receives some he immediately gets uncomfortable and distrustful and vaguely angry #he absolutely struggles to compliment people back as well at least on any meaningful and personal level so there's that #answered #anonymous #Machete

the picture of him you get after his kiss has this dog in it which i THINK is a pomeranian? i like to think he adopted it :] i was thinking of naming it Tao but @crypewstoast came up w the name Bugs and i think that fits better. all the Taos in other love-de-lic legacy games look like the exact same dog after all.

this one has barely any standing in-game but the guide book SEEMS to imply that the scrapped nurse and girl characters were going to be his wife and daughter, along w him owning a company that goes bankrupt. his story has since changed to be what it is in-game, so in my-friends-and-i’s reconceptualization of them, the nurse’s spouse was batayan’s sister, making batayan her brother-in-law and the girl’s uncle. maybe. they’re not together anymore but they also didn’t. legally separate. also merkoi, @crypewstoast ’s oc :]

i think an underrated part of the sea salt trio's dynamic in days is that axel chooses inaction when faced with the inevitability of losing either roxas or xion. he takes on a sort of attitude that if things are going to go south, he might as well try to pretend it isn't and try to make the most of what little time they have left. but by saying (and doing) nothing about the situation (unless explicitly ordered to, which was never beneficial to anyone but the top dogs of the organization) he only made things worse; roxas stops trusting him, becomes so angry with him and the organization, that he runs away, has to kill xion, and soon after gets captured by diz and riku. by doing nothing he loses both of them

#i think its also neat to look at how his inaction is so different from roxas and xion's reaction to this situation #or honestly you can look at how each of their reactions to the situation are #axel has been around for quite some time hes an adult hed given up on fighting against orders and such #so he tries not to rock the boat and wait for the storm to hit #thinking it will help him cut his losses #but then xion learns the truth and tries to do something about it #by choosing to sacrifice her existence for roxas and sora and everyone else's sake #even though she knows everyone will forget her #and then you have roxas #hes kept out of the dark entirely until finally axel tells him #and then hes so ANGRY at axel for that even though he was trying to protect roxas from a horrible thing #he still doesnt know the full truth but that doesnt matter. he has to find a way to save himself and xion #arfg. i love you kh days #kingdom hearts #kh
