i know it would make for bad television but i still kinda always think that it makes more sense that if it’s a fixed point then time itself wont let you change it. not that you change it and mess up the universe. but rather that you try and you just get redirected. like you dont risk breaking gravity by sky diving. if you mess up you get smashed. i think the only thing you’d risk by trying to change a fixed point is getting smashed to pieces by the sheer force of time. it’s hubris to think you could affect any of that. it’d be like moving a mountain. youre not gonna do it

    My grandfather died on August 30th after 17 months of benign cancer and bad treatment.

     We were at the movie theater, when we got a text from my grandma telling us to 'come, he passed'. We arrived shortly afterward and mourned for approximately two hours. My sister and I fell asleep on the couch at about one in the morning.

    His funeral is coming soon and everyone is at my grandmas house all the time and they're all talking about it, there's no escape.

    I cry myself to sleep every night and even though it's gotten better, it still hurts. And the thing that makes me cry the most, is sitting on my grandmothers couch and seeing the place he always used to sit, empty, no coffee cup on the side table, no newspaper in the middle, no Grandpa sitting there, talking about fish, and laughing, and just being there. No one sits there. Not even when everyone is over, nobody sits in that spot. It's empty, and he's not here.

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!
