on coats and shoes

Laughing as they run

Out the door, into the snow

You sit left in the corner

The snow reflecting all sound

You can stare at all the flakes

As they fall

Recall in their patterns

The memories when you

Where running ´round

As they do

Laughing in coats

lying in cold

Holding back tears

From falling like snow

Big and small

Floating down from the clouds

So aesthetic

So nostalgic

Recalling their voices

No longer by your side

Deafening silence

Good memories

Turned sour and sad

Ideas as blank as new fallen snow

Happiness as thin as ice newly froze

Friendships returning

But melting in warmth

Of new memories

Black is warmer than white

Darkness is safer than light

The bad overwrites the old

Just as sadness

Taking hold

Of core memories

Never forgetting

But never reliving
