🎄 Spending the Holidays with the Moon Boys (Steven, Marc, Jake x Reader)

A/N: It's almost Christmas again and that means having a chance to finally sit and force myself to finish the things I’ve had sitting in my drafts for MONTHS... have some fluffy thoughts for the festive season.  

Warnings: Mentions to mental health, slight smutty thoughts, references to childhood trauma, religion, holidays - let me know if I missed any.

The holidays are a complicated time in your life - but then again, what isn't complicated when it comes to living with your boys?

Marc is Jewish and Steven loves Christmas and Jake doesn’t really care either way. They all just want you to be happy, but that doesn’t stop you from ensuring that they all get a slice of the holiday season.

Your main mission is making sure they all have a gift from you as you love them all so much and want to make sure they know it. If anything it’s adorable how much they suddenly bicker about fronting on Christmas morning so they can open theirs first. 

They also all insist on getting you a gift, from each of them, to thank you and remind you they love you in return.

You also got them each their own stocking to put up, in a proud display of your unique family.

Anytime you mention the holiday season, Marc is quiet. You know why - which is why you make sure to to ask him to help tell you about the Jewish traditions associated with this time of year in an attempt to heal old wounds.

It clearly means a lot, even if it’s tinged with a sense of pain when he explains about lighting the menorah or about how his dad would make latkes for him to eat whenever his mom started her usual seasonal ranting - normally after a bottle or two of whatever liquor she could find. 

Needless to say, he’s overwhelmed when he comes home one day to find you with your sleeves rolled up, doing your best to finish prepping latkes to cook later on. 

You do, however, make sure to buy a bag of donuts to have on hand incase your efforts go poorly… 

Steven would find it all rather fascinating to learn about it, and has probably looked up so much history about the holiday that it makes your heart swell.

He’s also the first to help and insist you do indulge Marc - even if he protests against it, saying it isn’t a big deal. 

“He deserves it you know, he’s a teddy bear deep down under that whole macho Jason Bourne tough guy bullshit.”

As for Steven, he'd be 'Captain Christmas' and will be only too eager to assist in all holiday and festive activities.

He's the one you ask for advice when picking out a tree and decorating it. You also let him blast his cheesy Christmas playlist over and over again, loving the smile it puts on his face as he duets with you in the car.

It's also why you end up begging Steven to come to your workplace's Christmas party, as your date, as you trust him the most to make polite conversation with your colleagues and not shoot your boss when he looks at you and your Xmas attire a little too long. 

Surprisingly, I think Jake would indulge in the season in his own ways - like insisting on hanging mistletoe in the apartment and making sure to catch you as often as possible.

“What? It’s not me, it’s tradition. You want to mess with fate? Your choice sweetheart.”

He's a tease, but you know he cares and he's trying to show it.

Hell, why else does he not protest every time Steven puts them in the most ugly Christmas sweater he can find?

He's also the one who would get you the most risqué gifts, hoping to celebrate the festive season in his own way 😅

Your Harbinger Christmas fic made me melt like an ice cream, especially when i read Capitano's section 😭💓🛐 the way u write him in the fic had me in tears, i love him so much 😭💞💞

I just love the thought of Capitano being this "A dangerous and powerful man who leads an entire army to a war, a man who is feared but also respected by many people and all of his foes calling him a monster in battlefield". But when he is alone with reader, he suddenly became a man that wants to be loved 😭 its funny but also really cute and sweet 🥺💓.

I can't stop thinking about "before" both Capitano and reader being together, i believe that someone like him never celebrate holiday.. He probably spend it for training himself, strategizing war tactics, etc. So of course he had no idea of how being festive. But now that they are together, seeing him finally can relax and reader teaching him few things about holidays is just makes my heart flutter (he deserves everything good 🙏😭)

About that part where reader gave him that "ugly" Christmas sweater as a joke.. It may look ugly to them, but for him its beautiful bcs its literally A GIFT from HIS S/O and i think he will cherish it forever ❤ (idk why, but i think reader will starts to feel bad and decided to give him a good one 😅).

And also, shopping with him is probably a bit funny to think of bcs its the only time both Capitano and reader argue with each other. Capitano keep insisting of carrying all of the items they bought while reader trying to tell him to give some of it to them. Also imagine him raising his hands up with all of the items effortlessly while reader trying to reach to grab one of the items from him is just funny and cute (other people are watching them too btw).

I'm so glad you liked my Christmas ramblings 🥝 anon!💓💓 (When I was writing Capitano's part I was thinking of u ngl, I was like what will🥝 anon think?) AND YEWWWW I love thinking about Capitano the same way🛐 Very tough and deadly but when he's in the comfort of his lover's arms he just wants to let his guard down and succumb to them :3 And yea, he never cared for the holidays, though he always lets his soldiers go spend time with their families if they want (he's a good captain, otherwise he wouldn't be respected!) So soldiers who stay in the headquarters are used to seeing him working, but when one Christmas comes around they don't see him and they're like ??? huh?? Until later they find out he got himself a cute lil partner to finally spend time with😭💞😭💞😭💞

AND YESSS CAPITANO CHERISHES EVERY SINGLE THING READER GIVES HIM. Literally could give this man a rock with a smiley face and he'd take It so seriously. (And yes reader def gives him a nicer sweater bc they cant take him seriously in the older one😭💞) And shopping with him is so funny - he NEVER lets you carry anything, which is very gentlemanly, but you're also like!! Hey let me do something!! But he never lets you, he wants to treat you like royalty and also is slightly scared of its being too heavy🛐 I can just imagine him holding everything up high while having your grocery list in the other hand as he's trying to figure out with aisle has the item, and you're trying to tackle his arm to let the stuff down😭

comfort movies

The delightful @clottedcreamfudge tagged me to share 7 comfort movies and then tag 7 people to do the same

I came up with the first 4 movies pretty quickly, took far too long to come up with the rest of the list and then couldn’t narrow it down to just 7 😅

1. Legally Blonde (2001) - this is such a “me” movie that when the previews for it came out, I had school teachers asking me if I’d seen the trailer yet because they thought I’d love the movie. It was instantly and remains, my most favourite movie.

2. Clueless (1995) - iconic, absolute perfection, absolutely became my entire personality for a while after it came out. I absolutely wore baby tees, sweater vests, plaid mini skirts and knee high socks and owned a pink fluffy pen

3. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) - Kat Stratford was everything too me, as was Heath Ledger as Patrick Verona. Will love this movie forever.

4. A Knight’s Tale (2001) - what can I say, I had a deep and abiding love for Heath Ledger in this era, as did every other Aussie girl my age. But this movie is SO FUNNY, if you haven’t watched it you should because it also feature Paul Bettany in a spectacular performance.

5. Coyote Ugly (2000) - this movie is objectively terrible, I have seen it 200 times and I adore it.

6. Centre Stage (2000) - I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen this, I cannot hear any of the songs from the soundtrack without thinking of it, the impossible pink to red pointe shoe change will always annoy me and yet I love this movie with my whole heart.

7. The Holiday (2006) - I love a Christmas romcom and this is the best of them

Honourable mentions: The Devil Wears Prada (2006), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), A League of Their Own (1992), Burlesque (2010) - I love these movies for different reasons, but I won’t subject you all to four more blurbs.

I feel like this list says a lot about me as a person, but I’m not exactly sure what that is 😂

East & South Labrador

Drove this day another 406km through the boreal forest from Happy Valley - Goose Bay to the tiny hamlet of Port Hope Simpson, which brought me back to the coast, this time the eastern Labrador shore! Apart from Labrador being the "Big Land" of forests, it's also the big land of flies, which is a bit of a shock to the system after not having had any yet in my travels so far (mosquitos yes but flies are worse). There's the huge flies that sound like a bomb is ready to go off when circling your head 😳 and the tiny ones that are barely noticeable but swarm you in their hundreds. Like a woman told me earlier this week; "they all bite and they're hungry!" 🥺. I had managed to dodge the large flies as they're rather slow but impossible to escape the midgets, however generally there's much less of anything on the coast so that's good news!

I won't bore you with more pictures of ugly trees, but instead here are two from Port Hope Simpson, where - you'll guess it - the first stop was at the gas bar (although I'm back now into safe territory with more gas pumps) and then checked in before 2pm already, even including an extra 30 minute Newfoundland time change, which happens somewhere obscure on the road (doesn't really matter where, as there's nothing anyway 😅). Walked a bit around the harbour and then spent à few lovely hours along the water reading a book - A History of Time by Stephen Hawking that my sister gave me 20 years ago and which is interesting but needs to be read piecemeal, it's been a while since I brushed up on my physics! 😝

In the morning, the weather had done a 180, and changed from a sunny 28 degrees to a foggy & rainy 10 degrees😢. For the next few days, I was bundled up in my thermal underwear, woollen socks (thanks Tara for knitting them!), 3 layers of sweaters, winter coat, hat & gloves, whereas record heat temperatures were broken around the world...

I arrived early at the Mary's Harbour ferry dock so that I could still do a short hike up & down the hill to Gin Cove, which is not too special but still pretty enough and got me warmed up before boarding the little boat to Battle Harbour Historic site where I'm staying the night on the island. Despite the poor weather, I preferred to stay outside to watch for icebergs & whales (none) but I do see a puffin! 😊 With me are two elderly couples from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland who I find out are hyperactive, still scuba diving, skiing and planning a 3-week ATV road trip on their 70th, something to aspire!

Battle Harbour used to be the unofficial capital of Labrador in its heyday when it was the largest cod fishing village on the east coast and had amongst others the first hospital and Marconi wireless station. Some fishermen would stay all year, but most would travel from Newfoundland for the summer. It started declining when the school was relocated to Mary's Harbour but still operated until the cod fishing moratorium was imposed in 1992. The village is now restored and run by a historic trust, which provides visitors an opportunity to stay through all-inclusive packages. Seeing slowly the buildings come out of the clouds as the boat approaches made it even more mystical!

I'm staying in the bunkhouse all by myself (which I had already been counting on 😁) which was the original cookhouse built in the 1770's. After delicious lunch, we were given an elaborate tour of the buildings, which was really interesting as it was led by a 6th generation islander, who had lots of personal stories of how she helped salt the cod. Similarly, the handyman on the boat was one of the 10-year old boys who found a plane wreck the day after it had crashed in the fog  (and which I saw myself also in the fog), so that truly connects the history to the present...unsurprisingly, they're still bitter about what happened with the fishery as it destroyed their community, and some of the blame was given to the sharply increasing seal population since the hunt was forbidden in the 80's, which likely has a grain of truth (though most of the blame went to the federal government)... Despite the pouring rain, I decide to take a little hike around the island in the hope to spot icebergs (as there were 3 the day before) but all I got were beautiful landscapes and getting fully soaked. 😜

Over the communal dinner table, I got to know the rest of the guests; an (apparently famous) painter from Newfoundland - Jean-Claude Roy who shares the same first name as my father & comes from the same French region, his somewhat eccentric wife and a guy from North Carolina who is shooting a documentary about JCs relationship with Battle Harbour where he's been painting for over 10 years. The other group consisted of 5 Swedish sailors who toured the world on a yacht, showing breathtaking pics of Antarctica and leaving the next morning for Greenland.... Needless to say that the evening, including a black-white 1930's movie about an Artic exploration followed by beers in the pub, provided lots of interesting conversations! Compared to this lot, my road trip is really not that special😁.

I try another hike in the morning but the fog is even worse, so I give up quickly and instead play a patience card game in front of the wood stove, much better! The way back on the boat is quite rough but all is forgotten when the captain steers us along an iceberg!!💖 I had already seen quite a few in 2010 in Newfoundland but very happy I saw one again! Back on the road, the fog was really bad but when I turned the corner onto the south shore, it suddenly disappeared and I see not one but 3 white blobs on the sea! 😊 Iceberg Alley made its name true and in the next two days I saw a total of 41 icebergs; anything from little "bergy bits" to tabular, drydock, dome & pinnacle shapes, very very cool & unique in the world! Most were farther away and could only be properly seen with the binoculars, but a few were close to shore.               

The Red Bay world heritage site has an interesting history of Basque whaling and a ferry ride to Saddle Island for an interpretative hike, but there's basically nothing left (or it was reburied for preservation) so there's a lot of imagination needed to gather what was there 😂.

After a late lunch I was ready to crash in the hotel being hangover from the night before, but decided to at least drive to the start of the Tracy Hill trail, which is notorious for its 689 steps. The trail builders included corny inspirational quotes to keep you walking, and I must confess that the first one did get me to actually start: "One day or Day one?".  Apart from pretty scenery, every step seemed to show more icebergs; 22 from the top, which was a perfect way to close the day!

The next morning, I woke up again in fog (getting fed up with it now!) so at the lighthouse at L'Anse Amour, I first drank my cup of tea in the car while checking out icebergs and birds. It's the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada which my legs definitely felt when walking up the steps to the Fresnel lens & active light at the top. The Strait of Belle Isle provides a 200km shorter route to Europe than around Newfoundland, but has strong currents, up to 200km/hr winds & often ice, so it has had its fair share of shipwrecks & heroic tales of rescue.

Nearby, a 9,000-year-old burial mound of a Maritime Archaic Indian child was found, representing the oldest known human remains in North America but there's now nothing to see apart from pretty dunes. In L'Anse au Clair I stop at the lovely visitor centre in an old church and do a small hike to an abandoned fishing village called the Jersey Room, after the families that settled here from Jersey island near France.

When I cross into Quebec, it's suddenly 1.5 hours earlier! The entire Atlantic and Newfoundland time zones are undone in a split second, which confuses me in my day-planning and makes it a very loooong day. Checking in at the ferry terminal (more on that later), doing groceries and lunch kept me busy for a bit and then I was off to a viewpoint where I was told you could see one of North America's largest puffin colonies... which are on that island far away in the picture below... I could definitely see with my binoculars it was full of birds but whether they were puffins or gulls?!? 😂 Nearby were again lots of Eider duck so don't think they're that special after all... they seem to do well!

Driving west to the end of the road, there were some more pretty viewpoints and a waterfall, until I reached the Salmon Bay Farm, which is actually a scallops farm located in Salmon Bay. I've toured an oyster farm when I was little in the Netherlands and didn't realize there were also scallop farms until now. After a tour of the on-land facilities and explanation how they're cultivated (interesting titbits; scallop shells grow year rings just like trees so you can count how old they are, and they have up to 200 eyes along the edge of the shell), I chose the left scallop to taste raw (both the muscle and the roe, which were very tender) and also tasted two steamed scallops, which included also the roe as well as the baleen-like frill which is used to filter the water for nutrients. All accompanied with a glass of wine & finished with local jam biscuits, great experience!

Only 15 minutes more to the west, I reach the end of the road, thereby finishing my tour of Labrador of close to 2,000km! It was a long drive of, as someone put it; "trees and rocks, then rocks and trees, and after that trees and rocks again" 🤣 but very happy to have done it and seen this part of Canada! 🍁💖

The only way to complete my loop back to Baie-Comeau is by a 2-day boat trip west until I reach the village of Kegaska where the road starts anew. There's no ferry but instead a cargo boat, so my car needs to be shipped into a container to make the voyage, a first for me! 😃 I was supposed to report this morning at 5:30am but when I dropped by yesterday, I was told that the boat got terribly delayed...likely until 10pm - midnight tonight. Good news is that I could sleep in this morning (although wide awake at 3:45 due to the time difference) and that I have an extra day here - going for a hike once this is posted, but on the flip side, I might now stay two nights onboard sleeping in a chair instead of a hotel, plus may need to cancel an excursion I had already booked for after my arrival. Mother nature is in control so hoping there won't be much more delays! 🤞

As a side note, it's shocking to realize that the time is here the same as it is in Thunder Bay, over 3,000 km to the west! No wonder that it's light so early here...

PS. the boat's departure time has just been updated to 9am tomorrow morning so I can luckily stay another night at the hotel here but will need to adjust my plans forward. It's going to be an interesting few days ahead...

Is the better snowman builder? Abi, also. Mattheo loves snow but sucks at building snowmen. Abi is the superior snowman builder, 100%!

1. Josh would definitely have to be Fred since he’s always asking “how’s my hair?” Danny would be Velma for obvious reasons. Which leaves Jake and Sam. Initially I’d think Jake would be Shaggy but I think Sam fits better and Rose would be Scooby! So that means Jake would be Daphne which I am not at all mad about. If I was the type of writer to do crack fics I think it would be funny to make something about them attempting to solve mysteries but keep getting it wrong or get into more trouble than do any good. Quick someone indulge me!

2. I think I’ve actually had a similar conversation with someone about this. We were talking about a Harry styles fic being adapted into a movie so the idea came up about a Greta fic being adapted and I said Timothée Chalamet would be Sam as a joke 😅 but for the others I think Jake would want Johnny Depp to play him even though that’s absurd. I honestly have no idea about Danny and Josh. Anyone want to chime in about this?

3. Well the tradition is Friendsmas we go to one of my friends houses every year and this year we’re going to Denver so I’m super excited because I love Colorado! We also do a secret Santa every year among us and I have no idea what I’m going to do but I usually hand make my gift so I better get on that soon 😅 (I’m thinking maybe a personalized Coraline doll)

4. Danny’s favorite is wearing Christmas ugly sweaters. Josh has to make the egg nog cause no one else can make it right. Jake I think would actually like everything involved with stockings whether they make their own every year like we did, or they have special ones they use every year, and he likes putting silly little treats in them. Sam would be the one not helping with anything because he’s tearing the house apart trying to find where the presents are hidden

I mentioned it before, he still believes in Santa Claus🎅 and no one in the family has the heart to tell him the truth about it. 

It´s just so cute to see how excited he gets every year, that it seems like not even Drayton wants to say something negative about it (and let me tell you, this really means something).

And because Bubba believes in Santa Claus, he of course provides milk🥛 and cookies🍪 for him every year. 

Talking about cookies: he loves to bake christmas cookies, but he needs help with it, so me and him usually doing this together.

It´s actually more me baking and he´s helping a little bit, but he´s always very proud of himself afterwards, so let´s not talk about this little detail.😄

Also baking with him is always a lot of fun, even though I have to keep an watchful eye on him, because he always tends to snack a bit too much of the dough, which can result in us having way less cookies than planned in the end.😅

Another thing he likes very much is watching christmas movies.📺 (Of course, there have to be a happy end.)😊

Also he always makes sure to wear his best clothes during the holidays and of course his pretty woman mask.🎭

Gets very excited when it´s time to unwrap gifts.🎁

Nubbins:

Of course my dear husband likes christmas too, even though he doesn´t gets so excited about it as Bubba. 

What he really loves is decorating. Usually he´s the one who decorates the christmas tree,🎄 which is also the reason that our tree always looks a bit ummm.... different from other christmas trees.😅

This is because Nubbins doesn´t use the plain standard decorations that you can buy in every store. No, for him it have to be something special, something unique and what could be more unique than self made decorations? 

In fact, all our christmas tree decorations were created by him and he adds a few new ones to the collection every year. 

There are angels😇and stars⭐ and even reindeers and they are all made out of bones🦴 and teeth.🦷

Same goes for gifts. Most of the christmas presents he gives us are self made bone jewelry, decorations or furniture, but of course, there are some exceptions. For example, if he finds something interesting in a victim´s car, that he thinks one of us could like, he will give us this. (A record for Chop, a nice necklace for me etc.)

He thinks it´s pretty funny that Bubba still believes in Santa Claus, but somehow he always manages not to laugh about it (at least not in Bubba´s presence).

And of course, he would never take this belief from him by telling him the truth. No, this is one of the very rare occasions where my darling actually knows how to keep his mouth shut. (And believe me, these occasions are very rare.)😅

Also, he loves to eat the cookies that Bubba is providing for Santa every christmas eve. 

Usually he has to fight over them with his twin, which is always very entertaining to watch.😄

Chop Top:

Chop loves christmas almost as much as Bubba does. He also gets pretty excited about it every year.

Just like Nubbins, he absolutely loves to decorate the house, but unlike his twin he prefers a more normal kind of decoration, especially christmas lights. 

He has them hanging in his room the whole year, but for the holidays, he wants to decorate the whole house with it (yes, even Drayton´s room).😅

And I think it´s no surprise that he loves to listen to christmas songs.🎶

In fact during december, we can hear this kind of music banging from his room for hours every day. 

Time to get the ugly holiday sweaters out of the closet!😄 Yes, Chop really loves these horrible things. He´s got a whole collection of them, which makes it actually hard for him to choose which ones he wants to wear during the holidays. (As I mentioned before, in his opinion christmas should be much longer, so that he could wear all of them.)🙄

And because he likes these sweaters so much, he thinks, much to the chagrin of all of us, that they are a great gift, which means that every christmas at least one of us will end up with receiving a horrible sweater as a gift from Chop.😩

He´s also a bit amused about the fact that Bubba still believes in Santa, but just like the rest of the family, he would never say something about it.

Unlike Nubbins, he doesn´t even laughs about it in Bubba´s absence. 

Also loves to eat the cookies that Bubba provides for Santa and is more than willing to fight his twin for them. 

Drayton:

Well, it´s not a secret that Drayton loves to complain, so of course christmas is just another occasion for doing exactly this.

He complains about the decorations, about the costs that the holidays are causing (which usually leads to him giving us one of his “money does not grow on trees” speeches)🙄 and of course about how ungrateful everyone of us is, because we not appreciate what he does for the family. Just let me tell you, it´s pretty annoying.

But there are also some good things that can be said about celebrating christmas with Drayton. Like the “No - beatings - during - holidays - rule” for example. Yes, it actually means that during christmas (or any holiday for that matter) our grumpy broom man relinquishes to beat us with the broom, which I have to say it´s really nice.😊

Not to forget that he cooks an absolutely fantastic christmas dinner.

For this occasion he actually buys some normal meat, which is a nice change from the human meat he usually serves us. 

It´s very hard to pick a good gift for him, because no matter what we give him, he always finds something wrong with it, which is very exhausting.😩

All in all, he´s not acting much different than usual during the holidays. He´s just his usual grumpy self. Maybe a little less grumpy than for the rest of the year, but you know, not much.

But there´s one exception. You should know, Drayton really loves eggnog and after a few glasses, he´s always in a much better mood than usual, which is the reason why we always make sure that there´s enough of it in the house.😄

Grandpa:

How can I put this best, christmas with grandpa is...well, it´s just like any other day with him.😅

He´s just there, sitting in his wheelchair and there´s no way to tell what he thinks, if he´s happy or not, not to mention if he even knows what´s going on around him.😟

But of course, this doesn´t keep the rest of the family from trying our best to make it a nice holiday for him. Are we successful with it? Well, that´s one of these question that will most likely always stay a mystery.😩

And Me:

I love christmas.🥰

I love the decorations, I love the whole mood this holiday brings with it and much more I love to spend a good time with my loved ones. 

And because I really like to bake, there´s definitely never a lack of christmas cookies.🍪

But one thing I really hate is shopping for christmas presents. (Yes I know, it´s probably very shocking to hear me use the words “shopping” and “hate” in the same sentence, but it´s true, I really hate it.)

It´s because I´m simply not good at picking gifts. I never know what to pick, so I usually end up with just buying something and hope that it´s okay.😅

Sometimes it actually works. (But of course not with Drayton.)😅

16) Do you have any interesting scars? Oh I have a lot of interesting scars but like, I'll just do two because I don't wanna go overboard.

First up is the time I went down a waterslide in my yard (thankfully feet first) and got a two pronged stick completely through my ankle. Like sticking out the other side.

(sorta hard to see since I'm the whitest fucker on this earth) I waddle up the stairs to my mom, she yells at me for getting blood all over her freshly cleaned floors, pulls the stick out, patches me up(she was a nurse) and tells me to go play. And I did. My family is not very good with pain sympathy 😅

This next one is my favorite, I've had it since I was like five I think?

Imagine a five year old dealing with appendicitis for an entire week while visiting extended family who were, uh, not exactly the most attentive people. Anyway I'll spare the icky details but I make it back home to my mom and grandma(both were nurses) and my grandma takes one look at me and immediately says I need to go to the hospital. One emergency surgery later and the doc said I was about 30mins to an hour away from it rupturing and me dying. But the scar is super crude and indented on my tum because it happened when I was so young and was emergency but like at the time it stretched over half my stomach which is so cool. Love my scars.

Hm... Yeah y'know I think Angel actually fits pretty well... Funny story though, my name was supposed to be Angelica (which would have been hell growing up in the Rugrats era) but while my mom was giving birth my grandma suggested Angel instead. Apparently my mom's exact words were "I don't care what the fuck you call her just get her out"

🎄 Spending Christmas at Wayne manor (The Bat!Fam x Reader)

A/N: I said I'd be back with more Christmas content. What can I say? It's a Christmas miracle ✨ Well, more like the fact that the Christmas holidays are the first chance I've had to really sit and force myself to finish the things I've had sitting in my drafts for MONTHS... Who knew being an adult could be so time consuming 😅

Masterlist

First of all, Christmas would be a big deal at Wayne Manor. 

Like, if you don’t think Bruce is making up for all those Christmases spent alone with Alfred as a child then you have got another thing coming. 

No matter what villain decides to try and ruin the holiday with another crazy scheme, he WILL be back in time to enjoy the holidays come hell or high water. 

It has led to some great shots on TV of the Joker sitting outside the GCPD come Christmas morning, wrapped ornately in a bow. 

Each of you would have a stocking over the fireplace in the main hall, even if you don’t celebrate the holiday. It’s more of a commemorative event in the Wayne family anyway, offering everyone a rare chance to act like a normal-ish family for once and having your name up amongst everyone else’s makes you feel oddly gooey and warm inside. 

As does the sight of the MASSIVE tree sitting in the main Hall, absolutely smothered in decorations.

It’s a weird tradition, but Bruce insists that the tree is gathered from the extensive grounds surrounding the house, as it was when he was a kid. 

He enjoys watching everyone pulling decorations from the box, allowing them each to buy a new one of their own to add to the collection. 

How Alfred manages to get the star on top astounds you, but you suspect Damian (the sneaky demon) had something to do with it. 

Which is odd, as Damian hates the holidays - or so he says. 

He even threatens to try and stab Jason when he tries to put him in an ugly Christmas sweater for the family Christmas card photo.   

Still, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love getting gifts. In fact, he tries to act aloof but you notice him smiling to himself later on, after he opens the gift you bought for him. 

“See Todd - my gift is the best. I told you they like me most!”

He’s also very proud to give you his gift in return, having prided himself on getting the one thing you most wanted after you briefly mentioned it months ago. 

“Unlike the others, I actually pay attention and remember things.” 

Like how he also remembers to avoid all the places Jason sneakily hid mistletoe in the hopes of catching people out at the holiday party. 

You are not so lucky. 

Speaking of, Jason would be banned from making drinks after his first round of egg-nog almost blinds you all.

“I’m simply putting the merry in merry Christmas!” He’d argue, but Bruce would simply glare and swipe the key to the liquor cabinet, grumbling about why he ever thought adopting annoying teenagers was a good idea. 

Alfred patiently tolerating carnage as you all try to help with baking holiday goods. Flying flour and slipping over egg yolks is practically a tradition by this point

However, you are all banned from the kitchen when it’s time for him to prepare Christmas dinner. It’s a military operation for this one man army, and you best believe he has everything broken down on a perfectly calculated schedule. 

Not even Bruce is brave enough to get in the butler’s way.

Meanwhile, Tim would be busting the festive tunes out, knowing which songs people really hate and making sure to blast them on repeat. 

He’s also the one trying to get you all to play a game or something, even if he full well knows Monopoly has been banned in this house for a reason. 

Dick ends up trying to be the peacemaker after world war three nearly breaks out after a rather heated round of charades. 

Thankfully, dinner would interrupt you all and peace would reign long enough for you all to devour the feast Alfred has put together.

You even hold it together long enough for Bruce to attempt his usual holiday toast, before he eventually gives up after being heckled one too many times. 

You then follow dinner with a movie marathon together, whilst Alfred insists on cleaning up after everyone. You have a usual list of movies that you all can agree on watching, cued up and ready to go. 

To be honest, it’s probably the best part of the day as everyone sits there, drowsy from a full belly, and laughing at some cheesy movie playing on the screen. 

It’s never a surprise that you all end up passing out later in the evening. In fact, Bruce and Alfred think it’s the most magical moment, watching you all asleep on one another (they have taken many a picture to treasure the rare moment)

They also tuck you all under blankets with a fond smile, before wishing you a very merry Christmas.

The ideal gift for each Sawyer🎁

Bubba:

Well, one thing Bubba is always happy to be gifted with is make up.💄 

He loves lipstick, eyeshadow and rouge in really every colour and therefore you can´t go wrong if you give him something like this. 

He also likes nail polish,💅 but sadly it never lasts long on his nails, due to all the work he does with his hands.😞 Yet, he still paints his nails from time to time (usually on days he doesn´t have much work to do)

Stuffed animals. They are another thing that Bubba really loves. He´s collecting them since he was a child, which means that he has so many of them by now, that they are taking a great amount of space in his room. 

Yet, he can´t get enough of them. Whenever one of us gives him a new one, he gets incredible happy, which is always cute to watch.😊

But the best gift, the one thing Bubba is wishing for more than anything would be a kitten.🐈 

He always wanted one, but he knows that Drayton will never allow it and therefore this will most likely always stay just a dream.😩

Nubbins:

When it comes to gifts, my dear husband is pretty easy to satisfy. It doesn´t take much to make him happy, because in most cases, even really small things are enough to put a smile on his face.🙂

For example: He get´s already pretty excited whenever I bake him his favorite cookies (or any cookies for that matter).🍪

Another thing that can never be wrong is of course material for his camera.📸 

It´s simply a fact that Nubbins takes a lot of pictures. Of me and the rest of the family, of his victims (usually to document the different states of torture, he puts them through, before he kills them), of wild animals🦌🐇(both dead and alive) and sometimes even of random plants.🌻 So of course he needs lots of film for his camera and therefore that´s always a good gift to give him. 

Knives.🔪 It´s really not a secret that my darling loves knives. He has quite a collection of them and he uses all of them alternately, never leaves the house without carrying at least one knife with him. 

In his opinion, you can never have enough knives, so of course he´s always overjoyed whenever he gets a new one. It´s really one of the best gifts to give him. 

Tools. My darling loves to create things like decorations and furniture and for doing so, he of course needs tools. 🔧🔨🔩

Screwdrivers, a hammer, a drill, all of these are wonderful gifts for him. (Yes, he´s one of these men who can´t enter a hardware store, without acting like a woman in a shoe shop.😅)

Chop Top: 

Well firstly - and I think that´s not surprising - records. This is always a good choice, if you´re searching for a gift for Chop. Just get him a record from a artist he likes and he´s more than happy. Remember: Music is his life.🤫🎵

Speaking of it, concert tickets are of course also a great gift for him.🎫 It´s even better than records, cause it gives him the opportunity to see his favorite artist live and damn, how groovy is that?😃

Another gift my favorite brother in law always likes to receive are some “nice” new clothes.👕 You know, tie dyed shirts, suits with eccentric patterns on it, these kind of things.🙄 (Needless to say, that I never buy him these kind of things, but unfortunately some other people do.😩)

But if you think his style is terrible (and I can assure you, I completely agree with you on that matter), you maybe still haven´t heard about his love for ugly holiday sweaters yet. Yes, it´s true. Chop really loves these horrible things. He has a whole collection of them and he´s looking forward to wearing them the whole year. 

In his opinion christmas should last for at least 10 days, so that he could wear all of them, instead of going through the agony of choosing, that he has to endure every year.😩

Drayton:

Out of the whole family, Drayton is the most difficult one when it comes to gifts. 

It seems like no matter what you give him, he´s never satisfied. No, all he does is complaining. 

You give him wood polish, because you think he could use it for his beloved broom?🧹Are you trying to imply that his broom isn´t already beautiful enough without it? Yes, Drayton actually sees this as an insult, so I would only recommend to give him wood polish, if it´s your intention to make him angry. 

You think a new pan would be a nice gift for the cook?  Believe me, it is not. He will just tell you that he don´t need a new pan, because he´s already got enough pans and they´re good enough.🙄

Even if you give him such a simple thing like socks,🧦 he will complain because they´re either too colourful, or too white. Too black or too gray. Too fluffy or not fluffy enough. The list goes on and on. 

I think it´s no surprise that the whole family hates picking  gifts for Drayton. It´s simply frustrating, because we know that no matter what we get for him, he will be unsatisfied with it. 

The truth is, that by now we´re not even trying anymore to find something nice for him. Well, at least me and the twins didn´t try anymore. Bubba still does (and of course, fails everytime😞). Meanwhile, me, Nubbins and Chop have simply settled for trying to find something that Drayton won´t hate all too much, which is still a pretty difficult undertaking. 

Grandpa: 

Well, when it comes to grandpa, there´s honestly no way to tell what kind of gifts he likes, because no matter what we give him, he shows no reaction. I think he don´t even realize that he´s receiving a gift in the first place.😟

But even though he´s not realizing it, everyone in the family still tries their best to find something nice for him for christmas🎄 or his birthday.🎂

We do this, because we all agree that our dear grandpa is more than deserving it.😊

And when it comes to me: 

Diamonds are a girls best friend💎.... I think it´s no surprise that I love jewelry, but I have to say, it don´t have to be expensive. Don´t get me wrong, I adore precious stones, gold, silver and platinum just like every woman does, but what I love even more are the jewelry my dear husband often makes for me.

Necklaces and bracelets made out of bones🦴and teeth🦷 maybe not seem like a adequate gift for a lady (and yes, I have to take it off whenever I go to some public place😅), but I love it, because it´s special and way more personal than any bought piece of jewelry could ever be. Also, I really appreciate the fact that he actually makes the effort to create these things for me.💕

Another thing that can never be wrong is of course make up.💄

Or a nice perfume.

Flowers.💐

A beautiful handbag.👜

Or maybe a gift coupon for a shoe shop,👠 or a nice boutique.👗

But if you want to make me really happy, you should give me a nice fur coat.😊

Christmas shopping with the Sawyer twins (or “How to end up on the Mall Santa´s naughty list”).🎅

I already talked about how shopping with my dear husband and his twin brother can be pretty chaotic. In fact, it is something I usually prefer to avoid, but there are times when this isn´t possible. Like when there are only a couple of days left until christmas and we still haven´t gifts for each other or the rest of the family.😅 So also this time. 

It was only one week left until christmas and me and Chop still hadn´t bought any gifts. Same went for Nubbins, but he prefers to give us some self made gifts anyways, so this wasn´t really an issue. Still he decided to came along when me and Chop decided to drive to the next bigger city to do our christmas shopping. Especially because he still needed a present for Drayton. You should know, Drayton always complains about the things we give him (doesn´t matter what we give him) and this is the reason why Nubbins isn´t willing to make something for him, which I think is very understandable. Why should he make the effort to create some piece of art work for someone who won´t appreciate it anyways?🤷‍♀️ He just does what me and Chop do every year: buying a cheap gift and hoping that Drayton wouldn´t hate it all too much.😅 Seriously, it is the best thing to do when it comes to our grumpy broom man. 

At first everything went quite well. The drive was fun and when we arrived at the mall, we headed straight into a clothes shop, where we picked some socks for Drayton,🧦 all three of us being fully aware of the fact that he most likely wouldn´t like them. “He - he will say tha- that these are too colourful.” Nubbins said, pointing at the very colourful pair of socks in Chop´s hand. Chop just shrugged and pointed at the black socks in Nubbins´ hand. “A - and these are to - too black.” Standing between them, I was holding up the pair of white socks that I picked. “Too white.” I stated and we laughed, before we went to the cash register. Well, at least me and Nubbins did. Chop wanted to stay in the shop a little while longer, because it turned out that they got a big selection of ugly holiday sweaters there, which my favorite brother in law wanted to examine a bit closer.🙄 And so we agreed to meet up later and me and Nubbins left the store. 

While we walked through the mall, holding each others hand, I tried to decide what kind of gift I should buy for my beloved husband. Luckily, finding something for him is a lot easier than finding something for Drayton, simply because Nubbins is happy with almost every gift, yet I´m not good at picking gifts and therefore I was pretty sure that it would take me a while to find something. But just when I was about to ask him if he would mind it if we separate for a while, so I could search for a gift for him, Nubbins laughed and all excitedly pointed at something. This something turned out to be the Mall Santa,🎅 who was sitting right in front of the big christmas tree,🎄 surrounded by all kinds of magnificent christmas decorations and currently talked to a little girl, who was sitting on his lap. Before I could say something, Nubbins let go of my hand, walked over to the Santa and started to take some pictures of him.📸 Luckily, it seemed like the man didn´t mind it, because when he noticed my husband, he looked directly into the camera, smiled brightly and even waved a little bit, which of course encouraged Nubbins and so after the little girl left, he took actually twelve pictures of the Mall Santa, which he then proudly showed to him. The man looked at the pictures with great interest and even asked Nubbins if he could keep one of them. Nubbins then told him enthusiastically that he could keep them all, except for one picture, which he wanted to give to Bubba.😊 The Mall Santa seemed a bit surprised about this offer, but he agreed, giving Nubbins a warm smile. 

But the smile left his face quickly when my dear husband explained to him that he owed him $22 for it - $2 for each picture - and all of a sudden, he lost his interest and told Nubbins that he changed his mind and now didn´t wanted the pictures anymore. I think you can imagine that Nubbins wasn´t all too happy about this and at this moment, I started to worry about how he might would react, because experience told me that whatever he would do, it surely wouldn´t be good and I didn´t wanted to get banned from the mall because my husband burned a stack of pictures inside the building. (Again.)😩 And because of this, I walked up to my darling, who was now in a heated argument with the Mall Santa and gently grabbed his arm. “Just let it be, darling - it´s not worth it.” I said, but just as usual, Nubbins didn´t listen to me.😟 No, he just told me that the Mall Santa had to buy the pictures, because he already agreed to do so (even though the man actually never agreed to buy them, but let´s not talk about this small detail) and then he showed me the pictures by almost slamming them in my face. “Look! The - these are go - good pictures.” he said and the only thing I did was to nod my head, because I knew that there was nothing I could say, that would change anything about the situation. Nubbins wanted his money and so he continued to argue with the Santa and in the process, he told him some very rude things which I´m not going to quote here. I was just glad that there weren´t any children around at this moment, because they surely shouldn´t hear the things my darling said to dear Santa.😅

At first the Mall Santa was apparently trying his best to stay calm, but after getting insulted by Nubbins again and again, it became obvious that he started to get angry too (which I have to admit is understandable), but still he tried to keep playing his role and so instead of insulting my husband back (which he probably really wanted at this moment), he simply told him that, if he would keep this kind of behaviour up, he would end up on the naughty list, which almost made me laugh because let´s be honest here, if this list would actually exist, then Nubbins´ name would undoubtedly be at the top of it.😅 Unsurprisingly, Nubbins wasn´t fazed by this threat. No, he just laughed and this was the moment when a couple with two little children walked up to us, obviously with the intention to pay Santa a visit. And now things got really uncomfortable, because my wonderful husband had nothing better to do, than turning to the children and telling them: “Hey, know - know what? This isn´t the re - real Santa Claus. Look, he doesn´t even got the rein - reindeers with him.” The children looked pretty confused due to this statement, while their parents just stared at Nubbins completely shocked, obviously wondering how he could say such a thing to the kids.😦 Meanwhile the Mall Santa emphasized that he was indeed the real Santa Claus and claimed that the only reason why he didn´t brought the reindeers with him, was because reindeers are not allowed into the mall.😄 “So do - does that mean they are outside?” Nubbins asked him with a smug grin, before he once again turned to the kids. “Maybe we should go out - outside and see if his slei - sleigh is there.” he suggested. Then he turned back to the Santa and asked, still grinning smugly: “Is it in the park - parking lot?” Santa looked at him like he wanted nothing more than punching him in the face right now.😠 “I didn´t came with the sleigh.” he replied, which was a mistake, because now my dear husband asked him how exactly he came all the way from the North Pole.😅 “Darling.” I said almost pleadingly and once again grabbed Nubbins´ arm, while the Mall Santa obviously tried to came up with a good answer. I was pretty embarrassed by the whole situation, also the father of the two children was now looking at Nubbins with a very angry expression and I started to worry that the situation could escalate, if we didn´t get out of here soon.😟

But before I knew how I could convince my darling to finally leave the poor Mall Santa alone, the problem kinda solved itself because all of a sudden, we saw Chop running up to us, closely followed by two security guards.😮 He didn´t stopped when he reached us, only yelled at us to come and kept running. Even though we got no clue what was going on, me and Nubbins just did as he said and followed him, the security guards behind us. 

Turned out later that my favorite brother in law was caught in the clothes shop we left him earlier, when he tried to steal a christmas hat.🤦‍♀️ But this wasn´t the only thing. No, there was also the fact that he was wearing three stolen ugly holiday sweaters under his jacket - a fact the security guards weren´t even aware of.😅

Long story short, the three of us somehow managed to get out of the mall without getting caught by the security guards.😌 We hid behind some dumpsters and after a while the security guards gave up searching for us and went back inside. We waited circa two more minutes, just to be sure that they wouldn´t come back, then we left our hiding spot and got to Chop´s truck, to drive back home. Chop was in a incredible good mood, because he managed to escape the security guards and was now the proud owner of three new ugly holiday sweaters and a christmas hat which, to put it in his words, was a wonderful plate cover to wear during the holidays.😅 Nubbins was still mad about the whole Santa - incident, but he was able to get his anger out later, when he burned the eleven pictures the man refused to buy. He gave the twelfth picture to Bubba, who was very happy about this little gift, which also helped to improve my husband´s mood. I still needed christmas presents for Nubbins, Chop, Bubba and grandpa and so the next day, I went shopping again, this time in our hometown - alone. I think there´s no need to emphasize that after this disastrous day, I didn´t wanted to go shopping with the twins again all too soon. 

Also, if you wonder if Drayton liked the gifts we picked for him, the answer is no, he didn´t. He found that the socks Chop picked for him were too colourful, the ones that Nubbins gave him were too black and the ones he got from me - well, guess what, they were too white.🙄 It was frustrating, but then again, we didn´t expect anything else.😩
