🐉🌸♀️ With him being the kind of husband whose neverending favorite story to brag about to every new person he meets is how much of a miraculous fate it was that he was born much much later than he should have, just in time to attend NRC the same time as you did. You who stumbled upon a world that isn't yours, stayed at an abandoned dorm he in particular happened to frequent, and went outside for fresh air at the exact same moment he was passing by. He wouldn't get tired of how amazed he was that he found his princess in a school full of men, of all places. If that isn't fate, then what is?
And that's just the prequel to a long, long talk of him just reminiscing your time together at NRC with astonishing detail. He goes through it every holiday. Every Halloween. Every New Year's. Every birthday. Basically every opportunity he gets. It comes to a point where your children finish his sentences for him. It comes to a point where novels and plays and movies get made with your love story as the blueprint.
Your story gets so dramaticized and embellished that it barely resembles your memories anymore. And honestly? You prefer it that way. Nobody else but you and him will know what exactly happened between you two, and it will remain a precious memory-- a sort of secret, that the two of you will look back on fondly for the rest of your days.

i think a lot of people don’t always realize the difference between “this is how i interpret canon” and “this is how i want to write it because that’s what’s fun to me”. a lot of times the latter is all headcanons or AUs are, not an indication of what the writer thinks “is” or “should be” canon
more power to those who are super tuned into actual canon and know these details like the back of their hand, but sometimes people just wanna use a series as a sandbox, not a ruleset. genuinely nothing but respect for people who ARE that knowledgeable, but i and a lot of other people are just here to have fun with characters we enjoy—and want to put them in more accessible settings

why do people talk like Matthew and Nicholas adlibbing some of the most insane TomGreg moments makes those moments “not count” or whatever? “oh it wasn’t in the script so it’s not part of the show’s real visio--” do you think this is live theatre

Did the "good night" mork say to day had any meaning other than good night? I feel like there is cultural context that I don't get 😭
Saying 'good night' in Thailand definitely has more intimate meaning, especially the specific way they shared it, it's often a bit flirty or very sweet and soft and it's definitely part of a closer relationship than employee and employeer or caretaker and blind person. It's something softer.
I don't know the full cultural picture but I know that it's very much a part of caring about someone, about wishing them a good night and meaning it, about wanting to take care of a person and to know that they rest well and sleep well.

Wait where did Miles kiss a guy?? 👀 I can't see it in the video
Tumblr media
he doesn’t actually kiss him, just tries to lol. it’s a really brief moment in the background here! he’s clearly SO drunk in this whole video so who knows what’s going on or what it means lol, but yeah. my fic writer’s brain is spiralling at having yet more visual evidence of what miles looks like leaning in to kiss another man 😭

Biting the bars of my enclosure about autistic ford tonight. There's something about him using vocabulary and turns of phrase that seem "outdated" or "pretentious" that feels so painfully genuine to me. When people say he talks like that just to "try to sound smart" I wish I could explain what it's like to be so ostracized from your peers growing up that you spend all your time reading instead, to the point where you pick up your way of speaking from books instead of from people. And then what it's like for people to call you out for "talking weird" over and over again, not able to wrap their heads around why the fuck you would choose more archaic or technical or formal words than the simpler ones that surely come to everyone's minds first. What it's like to have to dedicate a sizable chunk of attention to filtering through every single word you say out loud in real time before you say it, to make absolutely sure that it isn't a word people will judge you for using or make fun of you for using, just so you'll have a chance of being taken seriously. Learning through trial and error how to filter out the words that other people don't think are normal or casual enough for the conversation, even though for you, the word choice that's "natural-sounding" enough for them is the third or fourth word you came up with when searching for the right way to phrase something in your head. I wish I could explain just how long it takes to say fucking anything after spending a lifetime doing that during every single conversation, and how repetitive and long-winded you end up being when you spend so long coming up with alternative ways of saying every little thing you ever think. And I wish people realized that, at the very least for autistic people and autistic-coded characters, speech that's seen as pretentious is really just the way they talk when they're not putting in the extra effort to filter through every word they say just so others will take the time to listen.
#ford meta#actuallyautistic#everyone go read the wikipedia page for 'stilted speech' right now#long post#ford isnt very good at masking. he doesn't have the kind of (unintentional) autistic coding that is Palatable To Neurotypicals.#definitely looking-too-deeply-at-a-kid-cartoon right now but in *some* ways. a world where the majority of people think its easy to like an#-understand ford is a world that would feel safe for me to unmask in.#i truly truly hate that fully explaining my thoughts on ford requires me to say so much about myself. but god is it such a crime-#-to use a fictional character as a lens through which to try and explain to people how to be more understanding and accepting-#-of things like this.#making fun of stilted speech is so normalized that people don't even realize they're making fun of someone for being weird.#people think its Someone Thinking They're Better Than You but its something people lay awake at night wishing they could stop doing.#and yet they still end up using the Wrong Words and being labeled a Pretentious Asshole just for talking differently than the norm.#maybe there really are people out there who deliberately use big words to try and sound smarter than everyone else. I don't know.#all I know is. in a world where its pretty obvious that people who use a discongruently complex vocabulary get made fun of for doing that.#why would someone deliberately trying to impress people do something that would only get them laughed at.#sorry for being genuine on main. as if its my fault </3

Ok i’m having a little conspiracy moment and i just noticed something
right so in htn ch. 33, pal says this about third house literature:
Tumblr media
this is not that interesting apart from the name- Abella Trine (obviously a third name, Muir mentioned that ianthe and corona would have been called abella and cainabeth)
it goes on:
Tumblr media
obviously this is a reference to bad wattpad style writing and trashy romance novels but…
Those seem awfully similar to some other characters we know…
Abella is ianthe- the name, as i mentioned, is one Muir had been using for one of the Tridentarii (presumably ianthe). Plus the description- too skinny, a pain in the arse, immensely talented at flesh magic
the spoiled swordswoman is coronabeth- the description is very corona reminiscent: spoiled, handy with a sword, parties a lot. The fact that the “narrative doesn’t like her” is interesting- we already know corona and ianthe have an… interesting relationship, and if my theory is correct, this provides some more insight into ianthe’s mind
the tedious widower seems to me like harrow- the fact that Abella (ianthe) is into her, the fact she is described as tedious, but mostly because of:
the saintly husband. This is gideon- the widower’s spouse who “ate a grenade.” Seems like a very gideon thing to do. Can’t think why.
The similarities just seem too deliberate to be a coincidence
my theory is that this is ianthe’s version of gtn and htn. If she got a book to herself it would be this- a trashy romance novel with her as the protagonist. besides, didn’t Tazmyn Muir say that ianthe would see herself as the main character in a romcom? That’s a coincidence. if we think of it as such, that means we have an inkling into the devious machinations of this terrible woman’s mind since it’s all from her pov
things i noticed that could be significant:
The narrative not treating corona well- how much does ianthe like her sister? We know she is pretty much the only one ianthe cares about, but loving and liking someone are very different.
the “two massive misunderstandings-“ not sure what this refers to, but feels noteworthy
the fact that ianthe’s happy ending would be raising a kid with harrow- did not expect something so domestic from our resident terrible person
also how did the book come to be there? i’m definitely thinking about this way too hard, but if it is somehow ianthe’s pov, it couldn’t have been in the room when pal died since the whole thing about the husband eating a grenade (gideon sacrificing herself) hadn’t happened yet. How did this book get to be in the river? Can ianthe somehow influence the bubble pal was in? (This seems like a bit much since not even the lytors seem to have much control over the river)
The similarities aren’t one to one and there’s plenty that isn’t quite how it happened (cue abigale). But if it’s just some book and ianthe didn't write it (more likely imo), it still feels important because of all the parallels. I still feel it can offer insight into ianthe’s version of events
this is eating at my brain far more than it should.
tl:dr
IANTHE IS THE WATTPAD PROTAGONIST OF THE LOCKED TOMB SERIES
edit: saw on a post by @feverdreamdrifting that “griddle” is probably not harrow’s childhood pronunciation of “gideon” and the mention of a “phonetically impossible lisp” may possibly refer to harrow here? Maybe?
please share your own thoughts, i am so confused and curious.

How do you personally feel about Yiffany being named Yiffany? Do you call them a different name? The sides of her name seem to be very split from “ don’t care, I think it’s funny “ or “ I hate the name and it’s disgusting “ and I find it interesting to know what people think! Hope this answer isn’t too bothersome 😁
The name is a big part of it. It is worth mentioning that Rose's comedic delivery of her full name's reveal in Chapter 8 was extremely funny to me, but it's more than that: it is what makes the character as extreme as it is. As the grand culmination of everything that makes the Candy timeline interesting (and everything that makes it worth trying to escape, which has been a clear goal for the characters since Chapter 16), Yiffy represents the deterioration of her parents' canonical integrity. She is the ultimate victim of what could be described as the official flanderization dimension, and she should not exist. Rose shouldn't have gone behind Kanaya's back. Rose and Jade shouldn't have named her that. Rose and Jade shouldn't have hid her from her family (like Jake) for the sake of a plot reveal. I hope this makes her angry. I hope she finds out about the nature of her reality and either has an existential crisis or finally understands things that have been upsetting and confusing her for so long, or both. I trust the current writers to deliver on at least one of these hopes.
