💛⚜️Pᴀʀᴛ 1: Tᴏʀᴛᴜʀᴇ ɪs Gᴏʟᴅᴇɴ⚜️💛 (From my Wattpad)
A/N: Ok, this was something a mutual of mine said here on Tumblr, and I decided to write a oneshot about it. Might be very VERY slight angst, nothing bad enough to actually be put under that umbrella though, anyways, enjoy this, and ty for the reads! :)
CW: MENTIONS OF RAPE, DEGRADATION, AND MORE FOUL WORDS THAN USUAL. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
B/N: Your Mother's boyfriend's name
M/N: Mother's name
꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂
"Oi, Y/N! Go get me another pack of beer from the store!"
"Yes father!" Damn that pig looking bitch. I'm just some fucking girl, trying to protect her mom from this demon of a person! Heck, he's not EVEN a person! He's the devil himself!! Man, I wish dad was here...
When you were in about 7th grade, your real father got killed in a massacre a couple cities over. He was not only a police officer, but a great father and husband as well. He treated you and your mother amazingly, and you thought life couldn't get anymore perfect, but soon that all went down hill. After his death, your mother's health depleted and she felt empty inside. She needed somebody else to make her complete. She decided to call an old friend from high school, and next thing you know he moved in. He seemed like a nice guy at first, but soon enough he was beating you guys mercilessly, enough to leave large bruises and scars whenever you didn't do exactly what he asked, in your eyes though, it was more of an order. You hated being ordered around, but you hated your mother getting beaten around even more. It seemed like a blessing that he hasn't tried to rape her, but god knows what he'll do, he's unpredictable
With all of this happening, you decided to tell him you were doing some "extra curricular" classes in college, but what you were actually doing was taking the Hunter's Exam and learning nen. Your biological father was kind-hearted and fun to be around, but he was also strict and sometimes a bit harsh, though he always meant well. Before his passing, all three of you would go out on the weekends to train, exercise, or do something that would enhance your body power and brain power. Because of this, all of you were exceptionally smart, and bodies all well toned. Sometimes your excursions would be going to a park and practicing a sport, driving to the snow and sledding, skiing, snowboarding, and every once in a while going to another state to zip line, try animal encounters, or take a family friendly class in that state's heritage and customs.
Since you were accustomed to hard core training and events, you thought the Hunter's Exam was quite fun, and was a test to your skills. After that, you were scouted out by a strong nen user by the name of Biscuit Krueger. You and her had lots of fun training, and with her pushing your limits to the utmost best, you turned out to be a specialist.
(Whenever I imagine myself in Hunter x Hunter, this is always my nen type and stuff LMAO)
Your power was called, Black shadow. You could have up to 10 weapons on hand, completely subjected to doing your bidding. These weapons were linked to you through blood, and they were surrounded with a substance that appeared to be black mist. The weapons you most preferred to practice with and use were your katana, blood string, and scythe. You could also make a weapon yours by cutting a fingertip and letting the blood drip onto the weapon, altering the appearance then gaining that black "mist", showing that it was now yours. The downside to this technique was that those "shadows and mist remnants" were your sleep. The darkness in your mind and the shadows all around you were taken and used for that power. In turn, you were always tired, yawning, and had bags under your eyes. Another plus side though was that you had a nen created chamber that had every weapon you owned. A girl can have some fun toys, can't she? You had tools for torture (whenever you took an opportunity to try it), many varieties of weapons, and of course, more snacks. But unlike B/N, you didn't have just fatty snacks. You had regeneration potions, healthy snacks, and special nen created "snacks" to help with different things, which all of these you had collected through pulling some strings. Your mother was worried, but you said it was all just college things. Yeah, just college things..
Ill make that pig bitch pay for what he has done to my mother!
Feitan POV -or whats going on with him- :
"What time, is it.."
"8 AM Fei!"
"Shut up, green eyes, too loud."
"Oh Fei don't be rude! It's mean!"
"That's, the point."
"Oh wait, Shalnark, what this?"
"What do you mean?"
"This... gold string?"
"OI SHALNARK, FEITAN, COME ERE' REAL QUICK!"
"Phinks, what, do you, want-" Phinks just ignored his question and pointed to the TV.
This is Channel 12, reporting live from York New City Town Square. People all over the city are claiming to be seeing a string tied to their left ring finger, leading them to some unknown destination! What is this string? Who put it there?-
"AY AY IM ON TV! THE STRING THINGY JUST LEAD ME TO THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL AND NOW WERE DATING! SUPER AWESOME!"-
I apologize for the interference, but this string appears t be leading people to.. partners? Soulmates? Find out tomorrow morning, this is Amy Starwick from Channel 12, signing out.
"What. The. FUCK."
"OH MY GOD OH MY GOODNESS HOLY SHIT FEITAN YOU HAVE A SOULMATE!!"
"Nope-"
"YESS YOU DOOOOOOO"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP CHEERY BITCH-"
"No❤️" Since Feitan was on his last nerve with Shalnark, he decided to stomp over towards Chrollo in the main room, but Chrollo just chuckled.
"Wanna go find your soulmate? See if that things real?" Feitan just stared at the ground, lightly shifting his feet.
"Go ahead, I don't mind."
"Just, doing it, out of, curiosity."
"Mhm, curiosity, go find them." And with that, he was dismissed. Feitan wanted to say it was curiosity, but deep down he had this feeling there was something else, but what was it? It made his stomach tingle and he didn't like it one bit. He tried to ignore all of this, and just shrugged it off...
꧁꧂꧁꧂TimeSkip to Next Day꧁꧂꧁꧂
Your POV + some Feitan POV:
"Alright, today's the day, he'll be at his work, and on his break, i'll set the plan in motion.." Both me and mom don't like him, and I don't know about her, but I sure hate him, every ounce of him. The plan is simple: 1. Capture mom's boyfriend, 2. Take him to an abandoned building, 3. Torture him and get all of the answers I need, and 4. Kill him. His break is at 12, and he usually goes to get takeout every other Friday, what a pig. I'll give him a taste of his own medicine.
Time: 11:30 AM
Ok, I have everything ready. Fully energized to the utmost extent, Elixirs to bring him back in case he passes out too early, and- what? He's leaving for lunch early? PERFECT! You ran behind some buildings and hid in a two-way alleyway, waiting for him to pass by...
Here we go..
One..
Two..
THREE!
You covered his head with a sack, and took his phone out of his back pocket. Before heading over to your post, you laced the inside of the sack with some sleeping powder and pressed it against his nose and mouth. Within moments he passed out, and you typed in what you hoped to be his password, which was correct. Around 12:30, you were going to text one of his coworkers that he would be "going to a restaurant across town, and ditching work for a day, not wanting to see his stupid good for nothing girlfriend or his dumb daughter." You knew he called you both this because of going through his text messages when he wasn't looking or when he was sleeping. Little did you know that somebody was watching you from afar.
"Hmm... So, she, my, what do people, call it.. soulmate? Seems, interesting..."
Time: 12:00 PM
"Jesus, I new he was a fat ass but I didn't know he weighed this much!" You were tugging him from his legs through the back ways of York New. You wanted to find a secluded area, where once you were done with him you could just toss him somewhere for the birds and maggots to eat. After walking for what seemed like hours, you came across a set of abandoned buildings, specifically the one you laid out some extra things. A couple extra weapons, some towels, a change of clothes, a chair and some rope, a couple of flashlights, and of course, some snacks. Lucky for you, the douchebag you've been dragging around like a rag doll was still out cold, so you picked him up and tossed him on the chair, tying his wrists, ankles and neck to the chair.
"Maaannn, this is boring!! When the hell are you gonna wake up?!" As if on queue, you saw his eyes start to flutter open, and you immediately grabbed your box cutter. It wasn't a weapon used by your nen, but it was quite effective.
"What.. who.. wait- Y/N!? WHAT THE FUCK?! UNTIE ME NOW BEFORE I BEAT YOUR ASS!!" you didn't notice it, but Feitan was watching from the building over.
What, the fuck? Why she kidnap him? That pig? Why? Confusing, gotta keep, watching.
You shoved the box cutter into his left cheek, and you bathed in the glory of hearing his screams of pain.
"How does this feel, you bitch? Everything you've done to my dear mother, everything you've done to me, and heck, YOU WERE PROBABLY BEHIND MY DAD'S MURDER DURING THAT FUCKING MASSACRE!!" B/N noticed the tears in your eyes, and took this to his advantage.
"So what if I was? Both of your parents were pathetic anyways."
"NO THEY AREN'T! YOU'RE THE REASON WHY MY MOTHER'S LIKE THIS NOW! YOUR THE FUCKING REASON FOR EVERYTHING SHITTY THAT'S HAPPENED TO ME!!"
"Heh, hehe.. hahaHAHAHA! YOU KNOW GOD DAMNED WELL THAT ALL OF YOU ARE PATHETIC! WANNA KNOW WHY I GOT WITH YOUR MOM!? BECAUSE SHES HOT. AND SHE HAD GOOD MONEY FROM YOUR FUCKING DAD. YOU KNOW WHAT I WAS GONNA DO?! YOU KNOW WHY I TOOK OFF EARLY TODAY?! I WAS GONNA RAPE YOUR MOTHER AND MAKE YOU WATCH, THEN KILL BOTH OF YOU AND RUN OFF WITH ALL OF YOUR MONEY!! AND YOU KNOW WHAT'S IRONIC?! I DON'T HAVE ONE. SINGLE. FUCKING. REGRET. IF IT WASN'T FOR YOUR DAD, YOU SOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE NERVE TO DO THIS, YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABORTED!!"
You couldn't handle this anymore, tears were falling down your face rapidly as you grabbed the duct tape and closed his mouth shut.
"I don't give a fuck about what you say.. I'm going to kill you here. This is your grave. Someday, I'll join you in hell, and when I do, I'll torture you again, and the Devil will laugh. You just watch and ducking wait you, you.. PATHETIC WORTHLESS PIG ASS SLOPPY ASS NASTU FUCKING BITCH!" With that, you grabbed a couple super worms in each hand and shoved them into his ears. Even with the duct tape, you could hear his screams of agony as the worms dug deeper into his ears. You then got our your katana and slashed him across the stomach, and shoved even more worms into that open wound of his. Quickly, you poured a large bottle of the elixir you had brought over him to keep him from dying so quickly. Box cutter still in hand, you carved small lines all over his arms and legs, then ripped off the tape to hear his desperate cries. You imagined he wanted to be dead, but you didn't care. His pain and you pain mixed together and you just started laughing. You through your head back and let yourself laugh. all of the pain this man has caused you and your mom will be repayed today.
But the pressure and stress was too much to handle. Your laughing of victory soon turned into screams and more tears, as you let yourself fall to the ground, not even noticing you didn't hit it hard, something had caught you, or someone..
What the shit am I doing?
Am I really going to kill him?
What's wrong with me?
What will mother think?
What would dad do?
What am I doing with my life?
You soon snapped out of all of those negative thoughts though, as you noticed something caressing your face lightly.
"Rest, now. He, won't die, so quickly. I'm, Feitan." You were a sniffling and crying mess, so all you could do was rush into Feitan's chest and cry. Without thinking, he wrapped his arms around you and held you close. He had no idea what he was doing, for he had only seen this kind of skin on skin contact in movies. So, he did what those people in the movies did.
"Don't, worry... It's all, going to be.. okay."

Stay Energized in the Winter!
Tumblr media
I live in Ithaca now, and at this time of year, the sun’s up for like 8-9 hours a day, and it’s cold and dark, and you often find yourself not wanting to do anything. However, I still need to keep up with my studies, and I’m sure some of you are faced with a similar problem. So, I’ve gathered some of the things I do to help me stay energized throughout a winter day.
Understand your energy levels and work with them
I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect yourself to be able to do as much work or be as energized in the colder months as you do in warmer months.
For example, maybe in the summer/fall, you could survive with 5 hours of sleep and more intense work sessions, but in the winter, you might need more breaks and more sleep, and trying to resist that might result in the further deterioration of your energy levels. If you don’t already, try taking a midday break.
You shouldn’t feel guilty for having to recharge. You’ll be more productive afterwards.
Get enough sunlight
Exposure to sunlight boosts your mood by increasing your body’s serotonin levels - one of the happy hormones. It makes you more alert, energized, and prevents you from getting Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
My advice is to spend as much daylight time doing things so you can do them the most productively. Even if you’re more inclined to do things later in the day, at least push forward some of the things on your daily routine, or rearrange them in such a way that you get as much sunlight possible.
This semester - unfittingly called the ‘spring’ semester - I tried to schedule my classes as early as possible, even though I generally get sluggish in the afternoon and then work better in the evening. This is because I want to have time to do my work - or at least be out - while the sun’s still up.
Exercise where you can
It’s so hard to exercise outdoors in this weather, but I still see people going for jogs around campus, or hitting the gym. Personally, I just do some stretching and light exercise in my room.
Alternatively, if you take the bus, get off a stop early then walk the rest of the way (unless there’s terrible weather like a snowstorm or something where being outside is harmful). The key thing is that you get yourself moving, especially in the morning - you’ll be more productive and happier throughout the day.
Shower
I know the winter’s cold and you don’t feel like you have to take a shower, especially since it can make your skin dry. However, it’s a great energy booster, especially in the morning. Showering in the morning improves your blood flow and alertness, and reduces your stress levels throughout the day. If you don’t have time in the morning, shower in the evening, so you’ll have more energy after the sun goes down..
Make plans or have something to look forward to
Nothing is more draining than knowing that you have nothing to do, nothing to look forward to. You’ll probably just end up in your bed watching Netflix all day, which, let’s face it, might be fun at first but turns out to be a hell of an energy drainer. Go out to eat, study with someone, or at least watch something together.
Indulge yourself
Curl up with a good book. Watch your favorite show. Play some tunes while you sketch your favorite characters or OCs. It’s the winter, you deserve a little break to recover. If you don’t relax every now and then, you won’t be able to work as intensely and focus as hard as you want or need to.
Also, although it’s great to eat healthy, but a cup of hot cocoa or a muffin once in a while is fine and makes you happier in that moment.
Work on an indoor hobby
You’re going to spend a lot of time indoors, might as well use that time usefully (aside from schoolwork or other obligations). I like doing creative things like digital art, journaling, or bullet journaling while listening to a podcast, or reading - these types of activities are the most energizing for me.
You don’t need to do the things I listed - the point is, you should use your time indoors wisely, since during other parts of the year, you’ll probably be out a lot more.
Listen to the right music
I don’t know what y’all listen to but music is an awesome energy booster if you can align it with how you’re feeling. You know how sometimes you listen to a certain type of music and your mind just feels like it’s hovering there, like it’s slightly repelled by the music but you also don’t really hate it, and you just end up feeling unfulfilled afterwards? (That was a trash explanation but I hope you understand what I mean.) Yeah don’t do that.
During the day, listen to music that keeps you awake and energized - it could be hard hitting rock or dance-y pop or maybe even something mellow. Whatever it is, don’t try to counter it. I like to listen to roaring guitars in the morning, and slow jazz in the evening, and that works for me.
Get enough sleep (‘enough’ might be more than you usually get)
During the winter, you can take advantage of the cold and cozy weather to get more sleep. I know it’s tempting to keep working until you finish all your tasks, but if it means sacrificing your sleep, you’ll only end up depriving yourself of your already low levels of energy. Also, make sure you get good quality sleep so that you’ll be as energized as possible the next morning.
However, don’t get too much sleep. This morning, I came into math class, and my friend was like ‘you look really tired today, is something wrong?’ and no, there was nothing wrong. It’s just that this morning, I chose to sleep in until 8 when I usually wake up at 7, meaning I slept more than I should have. Too much sleep just makes you feel groggy once you wake up.
During the day, take a power nap if you have to, but don’t extend it for too long that your sleep inertia kicks in and you can’t get up anymore.
Focus on your food
I think the food we eat - and how we eat it - is a huge factor in maintaining our energy levels during these cold, dark months. So here’s an entire section about food-related strategies to combat the winter blues.
1. Eat well
Winter might tempt you to eat bulky food and sweets, but they’re not that beneficial to your productivity and energy levels. Sugary foods actually cause you to be sleepy during the day and reduce the quality of your sleep at night. Instead, opt to eat foods that contain
Vitamin C - like in fruits and vegetables - to boost your energy levels; and
Vitamin B12 - like fish, milk, and eggs - to reduce fatigue
2. Have good eating habits (don’t skip breakfast!)
In college especially, a lot of people skip breakfast - and sometimes even lunch - only to overeat during dinnertime. However, having a good breakfast - especially one with protein, fiber, and whole grains - will increase your ability to focus and boost your productivity throughout the day. Maybe you’re the type of person who tends to skip breakfast - the winter’s a great time to pick up the habit of having a morning meal. Recently, I’ve been having peanut butter and acai overnight oats - nutritious and convenient.
3. Have caffeine at the right time (if you consume any)
Studies show that the most effective time to have caffeine is between 9:30 to 11:30 am. Even if you have breakfast before that, I recommend waiting a little while before you sip your cup of coffee or whatever source of caffeine you take. You can always bring a cup to class or wherever you’re headed to at that time.
In the evening, I recommend having a cup of tea. Some teas contain enough caffeine to keep you alert but not prevent you from sleeping at night. My favorite is green tea, but other teas like oolong or black tea work just as well.
4. Snack (a little)
But not too much. A single square of chocolate or a couple crackers are great mood boosters, and it even improves cognitive functioning. You could even have a cup of tea along with your snack, which is doubly energizing.
Tumblr media
That’s all I have for you now. Feel free to drop an ask or message me if you have any questions, and I hope the rest of the winter goes great for you!
p.s. wml bc I heard the winters here last till April

Whenever you use important oils, it’s necessary to stick to safe dilution rates. Most important oil books advocate a 1% dilution rate for teenagers and a 2% dilution price for adults.
And your gadgets to your cart and we'll package deal up your customized present for you. Don't overlook to add your reward note within the present field product web page. After waiting half an hour to an hour you should have the power to flip the mould over and bang it flippantly on a flat floor to extract the shower steamer from the mold.
They’re made with baking soda and citric acid, identical to bath bombs. But rather than placing them into a bathtub, the steamer is positioned on the ground of the shower. The water prompts the fizzing response and releases the essential oils into the air.
These get activated in the warm bathe to provide you actual aromatherapy benefits. When we tested these we found they didn’t make the shower slippery – there isn’t plenty of essential oil in a single steamer. We like to place them near the drain so any oil will wash away rather than staying in the shower. Firmly press the combination into each cavity of the Silicone Square Mold. Allow the steamers to dry for several hours or as much as in a single day.
Just mix a couple of ingredients collectively to kind exhausting tablets you could scent with your selection of essential oils. Then, place one within the backside of the bathe, and as the water melts it, the oils shall be launched into the steam. It basically turns your shower into an enormous diffuser! And that’s a great thing, if you’re on the lookout for aid from congestion attributable to sinus problems, allergy symptoms, a chilly or the flu. I’m making diy toiletry baskets for everybody this Christmas, the first to-do is shower steamers. I watched dozens of videos on it and skim tons of blogs, but once I made my first batch and pressed them into my mildew, they kept severely puffing up.
For this recipe, that means you would use up to 12 drops of oil per shower steamer for youths and 24 for adults. If you utilize a teaspoon of oil to make eight bathe steamers, that’s the equivalent of 12 drops per bathe steamer. If you employ two teaspoons of oil to make eight shower steamers, that’s the equal of 24 drops per steamer.
It is 2am here in Nova Scotia and I just made a bucket of laundry detergent. Tomorrow I will make your dishwasher cleaning soap recipe and your shower diffusers. Can’t wait to surprise my husband with one subsequent time he's stuffed up. And not to get all obvious here, but shower steamers could pose a tripping hazard for some individuals . Lightly spritz the floor of the combination with witch hazel. Place the steamer on the ledge of the bathe away from the water.
If you wish to turn your bathe into a therapeutic experience, go for one of the best bathe steamers out there. Just wondering if perfume oils could probably be used as a substitute of essential oils. Dilutions rates are primarily based on the burden of the completed product. So, you weigh your different elements, after which 1% or 2% of that weight is what you can safely add in important oils. This permits you to select your oils primarily based in your needs on that specific day, and ensures that your oils are at their most potent.
Store them in an air-tight container until you’re prepared to use them. These bathe steamers are additionally out there in my shop. So, if you don’t need to make them yourself, you can still enjoy them.
Incidentally, since I’ve started using my migraine inhaler, I by no means have a migraine advance previous the weird eyes stage. Having had migraines for close to 30 years, I was really shocked to seek out something that works. I suppose the lemon EO is the most important piece of it.
I buy my important oils in bulk, in order that isn’t cost prohibitive, however it is if you’re buying those little 2 or 4-oz. Knowing that, the recipe I shared calls for less oils. I plan to replace this post soon to include a troubleshooting part to help with widespread beginner issues, so stay tuned for that. You can add a quantity of drops of food or soap coloring to the mixture before you press them into your mould, if you’d like. That’s a sign that you simply added an excessive quantity of witch hazel (which is really easy to do when you’re first getting started). On your next batch, spritz the baking soda/citric acid mixture very frivolously, and keeping testing the wetness by squeezing some in your arms.
We are household owned and operated and actually recognize your order, pleased dances occur day by day. We attempt our greatest to course of orders as quickly as possible with our achievement employees measurement of 2 folks. Our present processing time is between 4-7 business days. Once beneath the new water the steamer will dissolve and your head might be swimming with all of the pleasant scents of Eucalyptus, Lavender, Vanilla and more! Just as a end result of you’re showering doesn’t imply you too can’t have a spa day.
Sometimes I’m in a position to get two showers out of a single steamer, by doing this. Hi, after taking a look at a bunch of bathe fizzy recipes I determined to try yours. Hi Erin-IS there any salvaging fizzies that are overreacting in the mold? My first batch turned out nice however right now I pressed them in the same silicone mould and are effervescent in elements. Just found your site and I am thrilled to see your cleansing provide list.
Aromatics - The lavender is derived from a lavender bulgarian oil and provides a discreet stress-free lavender aroma. The water out of your bathe prompts and releases the essential oil aroma into steam from your shower. That’s an indicator that you just added an extreme amount of witch hazel.

Mars normally stays in one sign for six weeks, so its quadruple-length visit activated your communication sector for an extended cycle.
For many Water Bearers, this also meant multitasking against a constant backdrop of gadget notifications pinging, WFH Zooms, and calls with coworkers, friends, family and co-conspirators of all kinds. Even your social sign felt the utter overload! Throw in the slightly stressful but much-needed socially-distanced interactions, and you may have felt like your head was in a constant spin state that’s left you mentally exhausted and overtaxed at the same time.
This spell of being both wired and tired ends on Wednesday, January 6, as Mars enters Taurus and your fourth house of home, family and foundations until March 3, turning your attention to self-care and personal matters. Are there things around the house you simply haven’t been able to address? Perhaps it’s a renovation project you’d really like to tackle—or it might even be time for a move, a roommate reshuffle or some other home-based matter. Your mother or a female relative could be a source of either motivation or stress (and maybe both).
Between now and March 3, tackle any home or personal life matters head-on. The new Mars-fueled courage and determination helps you move quickly and efficiently. Don’t be surprised if strong feelings and mood swings erupt along the way, thanks to the fourth house’s thin-skinned nature. Hint: There’s nothing like a good cry or a primal scream in the car to clear those channels! Indulge your inner child as needed.
Week 2: January 11-17
Call of duty
This week finds you torn between your desire to pursue your own agenda and a sense of duty to your family and home. Reconciling the dueling agendas won’t be easy, and you could find that by trying to please everyone, you please no one. Prioritize your passions, Aquarius, but make time to relax with loved ones, indulge in restorative self-care or attend to matters at base camp.
This tension is the result of two activating planets, Mars and Uranus, racing through Taurus and your domestic fourth house, which could bring curveballs and pressure to your personal life. You may be moving, making unexpected changes to your living situation or attending to a relative in need. The demands could definitely spike your stress levels and provoke a few intense mood swings.
At the same time, expansive Jupiter and structured Saturn have just nestled into Aquarius and your first house of self, independence and personal projects. You’ve got big ideas and missions to accomplish, and you don’t have time to be held back by too many people depending on you.
It class=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” all begins on Wednesday, January 13, when Mars and Saturn get embroiled in a tense square. You’re in front of some important personal decisions, perhaps even at a crossroads. With Saturn in your sign from December 17, 2020 until March 7, 2023, you’re at the beginning of a powerful new chapter. But it’s one that will demand your focused attention, and that won’t leave much time to take care of other people.
With stressful Mars ratcheting up the neediness from your inner circle, keeping firm boundaries—which is what Saturn’s all about—will be essential. Teach them how to fish instead of rushing in for the save, and make sure YOU have enough support if you find yourself pulled into guilt trips or other old family dynamics that are hard to overcome.
On Thursday, January 14, changemaker Uranus, your ruling planet, ends a five-month retrograde. Instability or slowdowns related to your family or living situation will clear up. If you’ve been at a crossroads about where to live or a personal decision, innovative Uranus could bring in some unexpected new options.
That same day, the Sun makes its annual conjunction (meetup) with shadowy Pluto in Capricorn and your twelfth house of closure and healing. Some deeply-buried emotions could emerge or you may need to summon the courage to end a toxic situation for once and for all. Perhaps you’ve been sticking around out of fear, guilt or some misplaced sense of obligation. Cut the codependent ties and follow what your soul is telling you, Aquarius.
If you’re still hanging on, don’t worry, because come Sunday, January 17, liberation will be a requirement, not an option. Your ruling planet Uranus will form an embattled square to Jupiter, pushing you to break free of anything that feels confining or limiting. These two freedom-seeking planets only square off every seven years, and when they do, it’s impossible to stay in a situation you’ve outgrown.
Strong feelings erupt today and you won’t be able to bite your tongue. They may bubble up without notice, and before you know it, you’re having THAT conversation. But if you’re planning to drop a bombshell, make sure you have some emotional support at the ready. The fallout of making a big, life-altering decision could have more impact than you expect.
Week 3: January 18-24
Awake at last! Aquarius season begins this week, as the Sun joins Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn in the Water Bearer’s domain this Tuesday, January 19, staying until February 18. You’re ready to dive into your 2021 goals and resolutions with full focus. Bring it on!
Midweek, you could be a bundle of nerves and feelings! On Wednesday, January 20, hotheaded Mars and volatile Uranus connect in Taurus and your touchy fourth house. Your moods may be mercurial and your temper could be like an active volcano on the verge of eruption.
With these two game-changing planets in your fourth house of home and family, this week may also bring curveball news about your living situation. Perhaps your dream home suddenly goes on the market and you decide to buy at a rock-bottom price. Maybe your landlord announces she’s selling the building that you’ve rented in for years, or you decide to rip up your roots and relocate…cuz why not? For Water Bearers of the childbearing set, pregnancy news (yours or a relative’s) could come out of the blue!
Your emotions get way overblown on Saturday, January 23, as Mars squares off with outspoken Jupiter in Aquarius. Resentment will boil over toward anyone who seems to be holding you back or demanding too much of you. You’re only human, Aquarius—but remember, so are they! Most people are feeling sapped and burnt out these days. If you bit off more than you could chew, or took on the role of caretaker then crashed, don’t get mad, just make a new arrangement. Relieve yourself of any burdensome emotional duties and decisions for a bit.
But that doesn’t mean you should slip into denial! Take a hard look in the mirror on Saturday as sobering Saturn and the Sun make their annual conjunction, meeting up in Aquarius. This once-a-year alliance rips off the rose-colored glasses and forces us to confront our limitations and shortcomings. Harsh? Yes, but like any tough-love coach or bootcamp trainer, Saturn is “cruel to be kind.”
On this day of self-reckoning, keep it real with yourself—but be compassionate! You’ve been through an incredibly tough 2020, weathering nonstop planetary action in your twelfth house of loss, closure and transition.
If you’re out of shape mentally or physically, or you’ve lapsed into bad habits or addictions, forgiveness is the path to grace. Hitting rock bottom? Good. But once you’ve acknowledged that, make a plan for how you’ll get out of this hole instead of digging yourself in deeper. A coach, expert or supportive mentor can help, so don’t hesitate to send out an SOS. You don’t have to do it alone!
Week 4: January 25-31
Me, myself and I
This week continues to energize your personal goals and passion projects. With the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn all in Aquarius, you’ve got cosmic clearance to prioritize your own agenda, although you may have to navigate a few obstacles along the way. Nevertheless, you shall persist—and hopefully pick up a few new allies along the way!
On Tuesday, January 26, the Sun in Aquarius will square off against disruptor Uranus (your ruler) in stubborn Taurus, echoing the tension of the January 13 Mars-Uranus square. Your need for “me time” or to pursue your own goals is at odds with curveballs from home and family, particularly a female relative.
One Aquarius we know is juggling supporting her mother going through radiation treatments, a best friend whose family is also dealing with a medical crisis and extended travel away from home to be there for everyone. Just remember that “wherever you go, there you are”—and try a meditation app like Headspace, Calm or Aura to keep calm and centered.
This kind of uprootedness could push you over the edge if you don’t take time for your own needs and self-care in January. We know it won’t be easy to carve out that space, but your mental wellbeing depends on it! Plus, you could find yourself in “caretaker burnout” which could lead you to snap at the very people you’re trying to help. Balance is key!
Luckily, the stars summon your support squad in the nick of time at the Thursday, January 28, Leo full moon, which blossoms in your seventh house of committed partnerships. Is it time for a relationship to turn official, or increase the commitment level? Joyful Leo says go for it.
Because, hey, you’re in the magic hotseat today, Aquarius—a well-deserved throne, might we add! Along with the Leo full moon, the Sun will conjunct expansive Jupiter in its once-a-year meetup, known as the Day of Miracles and considered by astrologers to be one of the luckiest days of the year.
In 2021, the Sun and Jupiter are meeting up in YOUR sign, tripling your fortune. Put yourself out there, pump up a passion project, make a big announcement about a solo endeavor. Love, business success, artistic expression—whatever’s most important to YOU will get a big boclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” ost today.
Take advantage of this moment, though, because on Saturday, January 30, communication planet Mercury will go retrograde until February 20. Mercury will back through Aquarius—and put you in a different kind of hotseat. Your splashy announcements could fall flat or be eclipsed by other things.
Dip behind the scenes for a couple weeks, learn from your launch and tighten up your beta version so it’s truly ready for prime time. Be extra careful of what you say, post or announce because you WILL be called to task for anything off-color or offensive. This is meant to be your luckiest year in over a decade, Aquarius, and you don’t want to squander it by attracting the wrong kind of PR  during Mercury’s backspin. When in doubt, cut it out!
LOVE & ROMANCE:
Get out of your head and into your heart! After six long months in Aries, passionate Mars leaves your cerebral third house and moves into Taurus, activating your touchy-feely fourth until March 3. Since June 27, 2020, Mars has had your mind going a mile a minute, leading to bouts of indecisiveness, analysis paralysis and, as often as not, overthinking everything! In your hyperactive mind, the grass was greener and FOMO raged—or perhaps because of pandemic, there was a lot of TALK but not so much true connection.
From January 6 to March 3, Mars will tour Taurus and help you get back into your body and your heart. This is a great time for self-care, redecorating (and in the process) re-energizing your home. Anything that needs a fire lit under it will benefit now. Just stay on guard for friction with relatives and roommates since Mars motivates and aggravates!
Venus has been in Sagittarius and your social eleventh house, but she’ll pull up stakes on January 8, relocating to Capricorn and your twelfth house of fantasy. This is a healing zone, so you might take a little time out to visualize, meditate, journal or get over a heartbreak. In the privacy of your own thoughts, you can release something that no longer fits into your life or brings joy.
On January 9, Venus and Mars form their annual harmonious trine, heralding a beautiful moment of tenderness and connecting heart to heart. Pay attention to authentic feelings that arise at this time; they might just surprise you!
Key Dates:
January 9: Venus-Mars trine
Bring on the lasting love! As affectionate Venus and passionate Mars harmonize in stable earth signs, you could have true romance with all the trimmings—sensuality and stability. Skip the “come here now go away” players and their mixed messages. A partner who makes you feel secure is suddenly the most attractive catch in town. Coupled? Mark a long-term relationship with a thoughtful gift to let your mate know how much you cherish them.

Lady and the Wolf - Prelude to Winter - Chapter 2  Jon
I’ve been a bit lax posting chapters on tumblr because I’ve been re-writing everything! I’ve also turned the Lady and the Wolf into more of a series or at least broken it into parts. Prelude to Winter is part 1.
Jon
As the small party rode out of Deepwood Motte, no one spoke. Jon stared straight ahead not looking at his half-sister or the onion knight, Lord Davos. He could feel Sansa seething underneath her lady-like composure. He was frustrated too only he was not surprised by House Glover's refusal. Jon had spent a lifetime getting told he was not a Stark. He was used to being denied a claim to the name that raised him. For Sansa, the Stark name had been taken from her and the North was not keen to let her take it back. We are nothing to them, a bastard and a woman.
"House Stark is dead" rang in his ears. Jon thought House Stark is standing right in front of you. Wnterfell is hers by right. To have the chance to fight for this woman. To do what is right by her. They cannot see her strength. But they will.
Jon had decided not to take the more common route away from the keep fearing the Glovers would betray them to Ramsey Bolton. He even instructed his men to shoot down any ravens flying from the castle while they were still on Glover land. Ghost had run off into the woods to hunt. Jon knew he would not stray far from them.
It was a small party including Jon, Sansa, Lord Davos, two of Stannis's remaining men that had somehow escaped Ramsey Bolton to join them, along with two Mormont men and a wildling named Stenn. Jon had dared not take more men. A small fast group would be harder to find if in fact, Ramsey Bolton thought to look for them in this part of the region.
The path from Deepwood Motte narrowed due to the heavy snow allowing for only one rider abreast.  Jon saw that Sansa in her frustration did not attempt to slow her horse forcing the others to fall in line behind her. They went on like this for near an hour before the path widened again and he could finally pull up next to her.
"Sansa, I'm sorry for what the Glovers said," was all he could think to say to her.
"Do you think they are right?" she asked him.
"You are Ned Stark's trueborn daughter," he answered.
"Yes," was her only reply. "But is House Stark dead?"
"Not, yet," he said. "You are still here."
"Sometimes, I feel dead on the inside," was her only response.  Jon gave her a sidewise look. Jon reflected on his sister's silence. All she had endured in King's Landing and the Vale. She was just a girl when she watched them take their father's head. Which is worse to die on the outside or on the inside? he thought. In his own death, he had felt nothing on the outside. When he came back there was numbness inside him. Sometimes, I think I'm dead on the inside, too.
He noticed that the rest of the party had fallen back a bit. Jon thought it would be a good time to stop to make water and call for Ghost. Telling Sansa to wait, he walked slightly off the path. On his way back towards her, he grabbed a hand full of snow forming it into a ball. She was standing next to her horse taking the break to be off her saddle. He called her name just as Lord Davos and the others were catching up to them.
"Sansa," he yelled playfully.
"What?" she said as she turned her head towards him just in time to have snowball hit her square in between the shoulders. Seeing the look of horrified surprise on her face made Jon start to laugh. That's the Sansa, I remember.
"Jon Snow!" she said as she started to come toward him. Seeing her reach down to pick a handful of snow herself, Jon decided to make a run for it.
"Oh no you don't, Jon Snow," she said as she started to run after him. "I'm a lady."
That made him laugh even more has he ran along the path. She was faster than he expected and it wasn't long before a snowball almost hit him. Not a bad arm for someone who insists their a lady.
"You missed," he called out. He heard her huffing and puffing, giving up the chase.
"You will have to come and get your horse, you know." he heard her call down the path to him.
"I can walk," he yelled back. The cold air in his lungs from running felt good. He called for Ghost who soon joined him as he walked on the path surrounded by snow and stately pine trees. The hoot of an owl caught his attention. He saw Sansa's snowy owl from the day before staring at him than flying off into the sky.
Before long he heard the horses getting closer, glancing back he saw Sansa sweetly leading his stallion alongside her as she rode her gray mare. Lord Davos and the others following just behind her.
"Jon come back and ride," she tried to persuade him. "It's lonely without you."
Sighing and giving her a smile he mounted his horse. Turning to her, "Sansa, I'm sor..." he started to say.  Barely, a moment later a dozen snowballs pelted him from all sides.
"Agh," he yelled, "What are you doing!"
"Defending, the lady, my lord," Lord Davos said with a laugh. At that, Jon Snow kicked his horse into a gallop leaving Sansa, Davos, and his men behind.
A few yards up the path, Jon dismounted and quickly began making a mountain of snowballs. As the party approached, he expertly pelted each man leaving the hardest and iciest for Lord Davos. With that, the entire party was off their horses tossing snowballs at one and other. Even Sansa was able to get a few hits on Jon, Lord Davos, and one of the Mormont men.
Finally, exhausted Jon changed his tone. "Alright, enough of that," he said. "We had best get as far from Deepwood Motte as we can today." Everyone was quickly back on their horses. Jon almost began to worry. I shouldn't be joking with my men. Even a small party like this.  I have to be their commander. Then, he looked around and saw Sansa's face flushed pink from the fight. Her mood seemed to have lightened a bit, her body energized. The men too seemed to sit a little taller on their horses. Well, a few snowballs are a good way to remember your alive, he thought again glancing at the pink cheeks of his half-sister.
Jon rode next to Sansa with Davos and a Mormont man leading the way, "We'll find other men," he told her.
"Yes, we must." she said.
As the rest of the afternoon wore on, they kept up a good pace.  The gray sky began to darken just as they had come upon an area where the trees parted. Overhead, Jon spotted a snowy owl.
"Look," he said to Sansa pointing towards the sky. "Wonder if that's your friend from the other the day."
Watching her glance up slightly, "It is," was the only response she gave him.
Jon wondered how she could be so sure. As he continued to look at her he noticed how tired Sansa appeared. Never saying a word or asking to rest, she pressed on at the same pace the men were going. He suddenly felt guilty for not stopping more often.
"We'll stop here for the night," Jon called out to Lord Davos.
"Aye, we ride much longer and will be riding under the moonlight, my lord," he answered back.
They dismounted to begin putting up the tents and lighting a cook fire. Jon walked over to Lord Davos slapping him on the back he said, "Since you were so keen to rightly defend our lady's honor today. Shall you put up her tent as well."
Lord Davos chuckled "Of course, my lord," he answered. "Wouldn't want any snow falling on her."
Nodding, Jon went to see where Ghost had gotten off too. Walking closer to the trees, a snowball lightly hit is legs. "I thought I said no more..." he started to say. As he turned he saw his sister sitting on a fallen tree giggling.
"I thought you were a lady?" he teased her sitting down next to her on the tree.
"Well, a Northern lady should be able to throw a snowball," she replied.
"You're not a Northern lady, Sansa, you're a Northern princess," he said.
"I'm not a.." she started to say.
"Robb was King in the North," Jon said firmly. "That makes you a Princess in the North."
"Do you miss him?" she asked Jon.
"Robb?" he asked. "Yes,"
"We'll avenge him," Sansa said.
"And I'll avenge you," Jon added.
They ate under the moonlight around the cookfire that night. A ring of four small tents were all that made up the camp. Each tent with two men in it and two men on watch. Jon cursed himself for bringing so few. Sansa being the only lady in the party would be given her own tent. While the tents were certainly fine for two men, three could not fit in one. The only option was for Jon to share Sansa's tent. As he thought about laying next to her, he noticed an urge he had not felt since he had been north of the Wall with Ygritte. This is wrong Sansa is my sister. I'm supposed to protect her. Still, his mind went to thoughts of the previous night. Her warm body next to his. Her long stockingless legs that he had tried so hard not to notice. She had a bad dream. I was just comforting her. That's all.
Gradually, the men retired to their tents. Jon decided the best course of action was to take the first watch with two other men. Much to his dismay, Sansa insisted on staying with him for the first watch. She is just scared out in the open like this.  As the fire went down, she started to doze against his shoulder.
When Davos came to relieve him, Jon nearly had to carry her into the tent. Once inside, he helped her take her cloak off and get under the furs. When he started to crawl back out of the tent, she grabbed his arm to stop him.
"Jon, please don't go," she said earnestly. "What if the Glovers sent word to the Boltons?"
"Sansa, they may not help us but they will not betray us," he said willing himself to believe it. "I'll be right outside."
"Please, Jon," she said again. He stared into her deep blue eyes the color of the Wall on a sunny day. Sighing he told he would be right back.
Coming out of the tent he walked toward Davos and the Wildling man called Stenn on watch.
"The princess must be very tired," Davos observed. "She rode well today."
"Yes," Jon said. "She needs to sleep more."
"Aye," Davos agreed. "After what she has been through, I imagine sleep does not come easy."
Jon nodded and clutched his sword hand. "If I could kill them all," he said. "For what they did to her. To our family, I would kill them a million times over."
"Well, Joffery is dead," he said. "But you will get your chance at Ramsey Bolton."
Before Jon responded, a soft padding noise could be heard from behind them. Jon and Davos turned to see Ghost walking toward the camp.
"There you are old boy," Jon said. Ghost glanced at him and continued to walk toward Sansa's tent. "Ghost, to me," he commanded.  The direwolf only ignored him while he nudged the flap open and walked into the tent.
Jon heard Davos laugh. "Ha, seems your direwolf prefers, the lady's company to yours," he said. Jon turned and scowled. "Ah, don't be jealous, my lord. And truth be told none of the men here will notice if you take a few hours to rest your eyes in the tent, too," Davos added.
Jon said nothing only stared into the flames of the campfire. People will notice all kinds of things, some true, some not when it suits them he thought.
"We all need sleep, my lord," Davos said. "You can't very well watch over the Princess while you're sat out here talking to me."
"I find I don't sleep much since my death," he said. "But I did tell Sansa, I would come back to watch over her." Jon turned away from Davos. "Good night, Lord Davos," he added.
"Goodnight, my lord," Davos said.
Approaching the tent slowly, Jon felt the longing in his body return. Sighing again, he reminded himself, She is my half-sister. No sister.
"Jon," he heard her whisper as he entered the tent. In the darkness, he almost stumbled over Ghost. He quickly found his way under the furs with Ghost laying between them. Just like when I first laid next to Ygritte.
"Are you warm enough," he asked her.
"Mmm, yes," she said, "Too warm really. I had to take off my dress and stockings." Hearing that Jon felt his longing become stronger. He felt her hand reach over Ghost to touch his arm. "Thank you for staying with me."
Without thinking he grabbed her hand and softly kissed it. "Of course, Sansa. It's just us now." he assured her.
"Just us and Ghost," she said with a little laugh. Jon smiled in the darkness and held her hand in his for the rest of the night.

6 Secrets to Achieving Work-Life Balance, According to HubSpot Marketing Managers
Have you ever heard the phrase, “If you love your job, you’ll never have to work again.”?
Well, that myth is both false and incredibly misleading. In fact, research shows that the more passionate you are about a job, the more work you’ll actually do. The truth is, a successful career takes time, initiative, and hours of hard work. And, while some companies enable employees to successfully execute on their roles within 40 hours each week, you’ll occasionally need to work later or longer to excel at other organizations When you think you have the perfect job, you might tell yourself, “I clock in 70 hours a week because I’m doing what I love,” or “The family dinners I’m missing will be worth it in the long run.” But, while your role might not “feel” like a job, working long hours without making time for yourself eventually takes a major toll. In fact, research shows that throwing yourself into work too heavily could cause stress, burnout, and — commonly — a lonely personal life. Yes — Managers value employees who take initiative and put in extra effort when needed. However, your personal life is important to your physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. So, how do you continue to excel in your career while making time for yourself and your loved ones? The truth is, there’s no simple trick to achieving an ideal work-life balance. But, luckily, there are a handful of strategies that can get you pretty close. To help you juggle your work and personal life, even if you work remotely, here are six tips that I collected from a few highly-motivated HubSpot marketing managers. While the tips below work well for in-office employees, these can be especially helpful if you’re working remotely and finding it hard to separate your work life from your personal life.
6 Tips for Achieving Work-Life Balance 1. Set hard-stops for each workday. Despite the thought that successful employees will work late into the night, studies show that you’re least productive at night. Additionally, working late hours can make you tired in times of peak productivity during the day. If your role revolves around large projects or long to-do lists, you might be tempted to work late or on weekends to get more done. However, our marketing managers suggest setting hard stops so you don’t overexert yourself. “When working on a long-term project, it’s very easy to keep going into the night thinking, ‘I can get the whole thing done today,’ which was obviously bad for work-life balance,” says Joe Mayall, an associate product marketing manager at HubSpot. “Setting hard stops for myself in the evening really helped me balance things out.” “Set (and abide by) your own boundaries and accept that a task is usually not THAT important that it can’t wait until tomorrow,” advises Lisa Toner To prevent any tasks that you can’t plausibly complete in normal work hours, Toner says, “You should manage expectations with your manager about how much can actually be done during business hours.” When you’re working remotely, setting hard stops can be even more important. In a recent post, my blog colleague Christina Perricone explained that knowing when to stop working is a common struggle of remote employees who usually work where they live. “Since you miss out on the social cues to head out for lunch or end the workday that are inherent in in-office settings, you have to create them,” says Perricone. “Set calendar appointments for lunch or a walk or a midday workout. Otherwise, you might find yourself sitting in front of your computer for 10+ hours a day.” 2. Make time for self-care and breaks each day. Whether you’re working remotely or in an office, you can take steps towards managing your personal life without getting distracted from work. If your schedule allows, one way to do this is by blocking time for breaks or short self-care activities, such as taking a walk, on your calendar. “Schedule personal things in your calendar like workouts, phone calls with family or friends, or coffee breaks. Then honor those commitments. This will force you to take a break in your workday and do the things that will recharge and fulfill you,” says Jennifer Stefancik, a marketing manager in our acquisitions department. “When I get back to work after doing something personally fulfilling, like going on a run, I always feel more focused and energized.” Stefancik shares. 3. Be transparent with your manager and colleagues about your personal-life boundaries. While you need to set work-life balance boundaries for yourself, you should also be transparent about boundaries you’ve set with your team or manager. One way to do this is by noting your work and off-work hours on your company’s internal calendar. Additionally, you should also talk to your manager to come up with a schedule that enables you to experience and manage important moments in your personal life. One HubSpot manager who’s transparent with his team and creates a public schedule to embrace his life as a parent is Victor Pan, HubSpot’s Head of Technical SEO. “I cherish the small talk I do when I drop off my daughter at school and with other parents. To do this, I talked to my manager about blocking out time in my work calendar — which is shared externally to my peers and colleagues,” Pan explains. However, Pan notes that establishing a flexible schedule with managers won’t always be doable at other companies. “Being able to engage in work-life design is a privilege for teams with safe spaces, but it’s also something someone engaged in part-time work can consciously control,” says Pan. “At the end of the day, we’re here to make the most out of the time we have given to us.” 4. Prioritize and audit your to-do list. Along with establishing a transparent schedule that fits in both time for life and work, you can prevent yourself from instances where you’ll need to work overtime by taking on prioritization tactics and auditing your to-do list to ensure that you’re working efficiently. “So many of us get bogged down by never-ending to-do lists and as you check off one item, three more gets added. In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to focus on the high impact activities and reduce or cease the activities that do not drive significant results,” says Toner. To help her prioritize her tasks so that the most important items fit smoothly into her work hours, she draws out an “Impact/Effort Matrix”: a four-by-four chart where you list all your tasks on scales related to the effort needed to complete them and the impact they’ll create. Once she’s done filling out her matrix, Toner follows these steps: Review the activities in the high effort low impact bucket, and assess if you can simply stop doing them — these are usually not worth your time. Take the activities in the low impact, low effort bucket. Determine if you need to keep doing them or if they can be delegated to someone else. Look at the high impact, high effort bucket and research more efficient ways to achieve the same results. If so, move those items into the high impact, low effort square.
When you’re done using the matrix, “you should have one to two items remaining in the high effort, high impact bucket that you continue to work on over a longer period of time,” says Toner. “Everything in the low effort, high impact bucket should be the work you prioritize,” Toner adds. “By doing this exercise regularly you can learn if your to-do list is actually worth the time it takes to do it. Then, you can decide if you should stop, delegate, improve efficiency, or keep going.” 5. Schedule time off as needed. In a recent blog post where HubSpot marketers revealed how they prevent burnout, Irina Nica, a community and influencer relations manager, noted that taking time off can help you eliminate stress while also adhering to your personal life. “I was one of those people who would rarely take any time off because ‘there are so many things to be done,'” Nica said. “Even when I did, I still let some work slip into my day, even if that meant only checking my emails.” “Over time, I’ve changed my views on time off and it’s been great for my productivity,” Nica explained, adding, “I learned to disconnect in the evenings and during weekends. Now, aside from the regular summer and winter holidays, I take long weekends off every now and then. That helps me relax and refreshes my perspective.” Taking time off doesn’t necessarily need to be devoted to vacations or travel. For example, if you live with family, time off can be used for staycations, where you stay in and spend time with loved ones. Or, if you live alone, you could simply take a few days off to relax, video call friends, binge some TV, and perform self-care.  6. Physically separate work from your personal life.  If you occasionally or regularly work from home, the lines between work and life can get incredibly blurry. Because of this, you might find yourself working too late or thinking about work when you try to relax in your home. Luckily, one strategy that can help with this is creating a workspace for yourself. “Try to designate a space in your home exclusively for work,” Perricone advised in a recent post. “Taking calls from your bed or writing memos in front of your TV likely won’t be very effective. You need a space that allows you to focus and be productive. That way, you can keep your work and home life as separate as possible.” Finding a Good Balance While the five tips were all slightly different, they all followed just a few major themes that you can keep in mind when aiming to achieve a work-life balance: Time off: Everyone needs breaks or time to disconnect from work. Even if you work remotely, be realistic with yourself about when you’ll need a break from work and schedule break times in your day or longer PTO accordingly. Setting boundaries: Schedule hard stops and breaks for yourself, while also setting boundaries related to your work hours with your team and manager. Prioritization: Recognize the tasks you can save until tomorrow and how to complete your weekly to-do list more efficiently. Separate work from life at home: When you work from home, the lines between work and life can get blurry. Be sure to use the tips above to help separate your work life from your personal life at home. You can also find more detailed tips in this remote work post. To learn more about how to be successful in the marketing workplace, check out these blog posts on avoiding burnout, productivity, and how to stay creative under pressure.

It is easy to determine a plant’s heritage by examining its name. After all, many breeders prefer using a designate a portion of its parents’ name to the hybrid developed. Kali 47, for example, is obviously a reference to the two industry mainstays - Kali Mist and AK-47. After all, top breeders such as Advanced Seeds would prefer using strains that have created an impact on users all over the world.
Kali Mist is believed to have emerged around the 1990s. Although that fact is disputable, no one can argue that it has remained a popular choice among enthusiasts for its energizing buzz that not only promotes mental stimulation but also clarity. AK-47, on the other hand, is a Sativa-dominant bud that maintains a sturdy structure.
In combining the two, Advanced Seeds produced the ever-popular Kali 47. Like its parents, it is highly potent with THC levels test as high as 19%. It induces a fast-acting, long-lasting high which encourage deep thinking as well as better movement. Not only that, it inherits the hardiness of its guerilla parent.

Effects
By now, it should come as no surprise that a Sativa-dominant strain like Kali 47 hits fast. In just a few puffs, it swarms the mind with a rush of euphoria that may be too intense for some. This is not to insinuate the beginners should avoid high THC herbs, but that all enthusiasts, regardless of experience, should use the bud with caution as it can be quite overwhelming.

The effects are almost immediately visible once the initial onset has begun. Smiles seem to grow brighter as an innate sense of happiness radiates from the inside out. The resulting clarity, as one’s worries dissipate into thin air, is also a catalyst for creativity.

An influx of profound thoughts floods the mind as users begin to wander off in the land of rumination. It is not uncommon for innovative ideas to emerge during this time. In fact, some even take advantage of its mentally stimulating effects to come up with solutions or reach conclusions to work-related problems. In any case, the added cerebral upliftment is a welcome addition to one’s daily routine.
Usually within an hour or two, the strain’s physical effects begin to manifest. It starts as a light pressure from behind the temples that ebbs down to the rest of the body. With each puff, it gradually intensifies until it develops into a surge of energy that reinvigorates tired muscles. Through it, users stay upbeat and alert throughout the day.
Its energizing effects, as well as wake-and-bake qualities, make Kali 47 a great daytime companion. At night, it can be used to spice up conversations at social gatherings like parties.
Fragrance
Kali 47 has a pleasing aroma with sweet overtones of vanilla accentuated by a familiar note of caramel. Broken apart or combusted, a candied fruity scent fills the room.
Flavors
Kali 47’s taste is equally as pleasing as its smell. When first drawn in, it is delightfully sweet. Overtones of vanilla and caramel accentuate its candied flavors. On the exhale, fruity undertones of citrus wash over the mouth.
Adverse Reaction
A cottonmouth and red eyes are two unavoidable reactions that come with using Kali 47 or any strain for that matter. Though many users ignore for its mildness, the dry spell is still a source of discomfort for beginners. Staying hydrated, however, will help manage such effects for as long as it persists.

It is always best to practice caution while using a high THC strain like Kali 47. This is because overconsumption usually leads to negative side effect such as ‘greening out,’ which is a condition characterized by temporary dizziness due to heightened perception. At times, it can also trigger anxiety to the point wherein users may feel a little paranoid.
Medical
Presumably, Kali 47 was developed to cater to recreational users. However, this does not diminish its medicinal potential. In fact, through the combined effects of its THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids like terpenes, it provides a reprieve against a variety of mental and physical afflictions.
TIP: Looking to buy Kali 47 seeds? Visit the ILGM cannabis seed shop
In inducing its happy high, for example, Kali 47 reduces high stress levels which can complicate already existing health conditions such as hypertension. It can also accelerate the onset or further development of depression. For this reason, the Sativa-dominant herb can also be used to alleviate symptoms of said mental health issue albeit temporarily.

Meanwhile, Kali 47’s stimulating effects make it a great choice for relieving mental and physical fatigue which is usually a result of chronic stress. However, in relaxing the body, it effectively reinvigorates users a well as gets rid of the various pains that come with over exhaustion.
Kali 47 also has anti-inflammatory properties that lessen redness and help reduce swelling.
Growing
Climate and location are two important factors to consider when growing Kali 47. Like other Sativa-dominant strains, it prefers the warm, semi-humid weather of many Mediterranean regions. The constant sunlight is also a source of essential nutrients that help the plant yield high as it stretches up to 10 feet.
In spite of this, it still grows well when exposed to the colder weather of countries north of the equator. AK-47’s influence on the strain makes it hardier compared to other predominantly Sativa-leaning strains. Still, there are many commercial growers who would like to make the most out of the plant by growing it indoors.
Controllable environments make mimicking a Mediterranean climate easier for growers as factors such as temperature, lighting, and humidity are readily adjustable. However, due to its growth spurt during the flowering phase, many are prompted to top the plant early or cut the vegetative period short so its height is easily managed.
Luckily, Kali 47 is available in feminized form which assures aspiring growers harvest a full batch of female plants each time.
Flowering Time
Indoors Kali 47 is the ideal strain for Sativa loving growers with little patience. It has a short flowering period of 7 to 9 weeks with each square meter producing between 14 to 16 ounces of buds. Applying the Screen of Green, as well as delaying harvest, will encourage the plant to yield more.
Outdoors In the northern hemisphere, Kali 47 usually blooms from the last week of September to the second or third week of October. Once ready for harvest, it yields at least 16 ounces of buds per plant.
Have you ever smoked or grown your own Kali 47? Please let me know what you think about this marijuana strain in the comments below.

Deep Cheese

What do you get when you add more Cheese to Cheese? You get Deep Cheese! The result of painstaking years of development, it intensifies the already sharp flavors of its predecessor. But, that is not all. What makes this hybrid truly unique is that it is the result of inbreeding.
While most new strains out in the marijuana market are the result of crossing two, three, and even four strains, Dinafem took the risk and bred their famed hybrid using their one and only Cheese. Itself a result of inbreeding of multiple Skunk #1 varieties. Since its inception in the 1980s, it has become a central staple in the marijuana industry as an independent joint and as a genetic base for modern hybrids.
Essentially, Deep Cheese is just Cheese but better. In flavor and even effects, it is well balanced and much more pronounced.

Effects
Deep Cheese both amplifies and enhances the effects of Cheese. It provides great mental effects at the onset that’s paired with a relaxing body high at the comedown, perfectly representing its Sativa and Indica sides. As such, users experience a strong well-rounded high.

At the onset, it sends a zap of energy that wakes tired spirits. In enhancing the mood, it also brings users to new heights of euphoria. With happiness welling inside, users feel a little more invincible against negative thoughts.
Deep Cheese Effects - Image powered by Seedfinder.eu
Used in moderation, however, it clears the mind and promotes an amplified sense of focus. Feeling motivated, many are determined to undertake each task with eagle-eye scrutiny.
After a while, the creeping Indica effects become more pronounced. Through a tingling sensation that ebbs down from the temples, it induces a soothing high. As the uplifting buzz increases in intensity, it puts the body into total relaxation.
Though the Indica effects envelop the user, they only serve to complement the mental stimulation. The relaxation is so users can get on their fun-filled productive day without feeling overwhelmed with the things to be done.
Despite vague reports on its THC levels, there is a general consensus that the strain boasts insane amounts of THC. This is not surprising considering Cheese does test up to 20%. Moreover, the long period it took to create Deep Cheese was not for naught. When abused, its effects could potentially render users in a crippling couchlock.

In essence, Deep Cheese's aroma is just a more accented version of its parent strain. Like Cheese, this inbred hybrid takes users with its sharp scent. When combusted, it releases a skunky smell reminiscent of its grandparent, Skunk #1. Truly, Deep Cheese is its namesake albeit a little stronger.
Flavors
Deep Cheese’s name is a dead giveaway to its flavor. Besides the pronounced taste of cheese, a savory skunk is evident in its undertones. Drawing in the smoke, a pleasantly smooth sharpness soothes the throat. However, some users may experience a little coughing during the exhale.
Adverse Reaction
Deep Cheese or not, taking marijuana tends to cause dryness in the mouth and redness in the eyes. It’s a good thing that these are the two most common side effects of cannabis since they are quite mild to begin. The discomfort they both bring can also be easily eased through hydration.

Besides those stated above, Deep Cheese may cause users to feel anxious. Some even reach the point of paranoia although the chances of this occurring are rare. If they do happen, the victims tend to be novices. As such, beginners may always consider having a seasoned user around to help pace the consumption of buds.
Medical
All three generations of the Cheese family are powerful Indicas whose best use is for managing pain. Their relaxing properties are world famous for easing even the most chronic of bodily aches. The same holds true for Deep Cheese, the grand-offspring of Skunk #1.

Armed with a powerful Indica lineage, Deep Cheese provides a reprieve for medical users suffering from different kinds of aches and pains including headaches, cramps, and fatigue. Its soothing high also eases nausea. An excellent stimulant, the strain can also help users who have lost their appetite.

Though Deep Cheese maintains the same 80:20 Indica/Sativa ratio of its parent strain, it still retains more than enough psychoactive compounds to be of medicinal value to users with mental afflictions. For example, it can be a source of comfort to those with depression and PTSD. Effective at wiping out bad moods, the mental stimulation positively changes one’s negative outlook on life. Similarly, its energizing cerebral high reinvigorates those severely stressed.
Growing
Deep Cheese is a near perfect strain. It's flavor, aroma, and effects are all delightful. Adding to its perfection is the hybrid’s incredibly easy grow. The strain thrives in warm, semi-humid climates as such it has grown resistant to the problems moisture brings. Its performance in and outdoors is exceptional too.
However, apartment growers may want to invest in odor filters since Deep Cheese does emit a strong skunk scent. Not only will this keep nosy neighbors away, it will also prevent the aroma from affecting other plants.
Flowering Time
Indoors Indoors, Deep Cheese flowers within 7 to 8 weeks and growers harvest at least 18 ounces of buds per square meter.
Outdoors In the great outdoors, Deep Cheese tends to flower by October and yields between 21 and 28 ounces of buds per plant.

Brothers Grimm has been away for far too long. In their absence, another company TGA Subcool Seeds has continued to create new strains using many from the former. Finally, the long-gone breeder is back, and in designing a new hybrid, they named it after TGA (The Green Avenger).
More than just the name, the Green Avenger brings on a set of wonderful effects that make it a favorite among recreational users. Even in the medical cannabis community, some of its notable traits have not gone unnoticed.
Such is the result of careful selection and adherence to excellence when breeding. To begin with, Brothers Grimm used a male seed from TGA. Using this special male, they then crossed it with Genius. It is one of the best phenotypes of their own Apollo 11 strain.
Some people may recognize Vortex. It is one of the few strains that can literally place one in a whirlpool of Sativa high and has itself, won the 2010 High Times Cannabis Cup Sativa. Meanwhile, the Apollo 11 is one that takes users on an intense journey to space, and the plant grows fast too.
Having mentioned some of the notable traits of the parent strains, it is not hard to imagine what the Green Avenger can do.

Effects
All good things must come to an end. Such is the case with the use of the Green Avenger. After hours, its effects will subside. But before that, it takes one to an incredible high before bringing back to a state of bliss and finally ending in deep slumber.

The Green Avenger seems to be always charged and pumped to unleash its raw power on the users. It acts very quick by sending an intense energizing buzz that not only uplifts the mood. It also sends users to a state of euphoria. At the same time, it also unlocks the creative side of the mind ushering in a flood of ideas.

During this time, doing tasks become more comfortable. Even when one is feeling tired, the temporary boost in energy seems endless. In more ways than one, this strain sparks and inspires people to act on their motivations.
Meanwhile, as the mind races, the body settles down as the body high creeps in. It does not take too long once it begins to manifest itself before users find themselves completely relaxed. It does a great job of stabilizing the mental high without going overboard and knocking people out. As such, the Green Avenger is perfect for daytime use.
Fragrance
Besides the remarkable effects it delivers, the Green Avenger also has an insanely pleasant odor. The sweet and earthy scent it emits is influenced by a note of nuts, and that combination can certainly entice people to roll one and use.
Flavors
Even better than its scent, it is how it tastes that makes it even more delightful. A note of honey while exhaling the smoke makes it so tempting to keep using more.
Adverse Reaction
Some people think that the use of cannabis causes no harm. Although it is true that it comes with side effects, it appears that there are no long-term consequences. Still, these concerns can be quite annoying at times.

Feeling the eyes drying is one of them, and so is having cotton mouth. About the only way to deal with this is to keep hydrated. Despite the minor inconvenience, most people actually end up not noticing because they are drowning in the uplifting mental buzz.
One thing that may also be a cause for concern is that some people reported having a headache. Of course, it lasts temporarily, but nonetheless, it is an inconvenience at best.
Medical
Not much people have reported and shared their experience with the use of the Green Avenger. But even if this is a relatively new strain, there are already good indications.

One is that the energizing buzz it generates efficiently wipes away stress. As such, it is not only useful in getting rid of the troubles of the world, but it is also helpful for people with depression and PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health disorders.

Another is that the same energizing buzz is also a good way to counter the effects of fatigue. As mentioned, it is as if users found a way to tap into a source of unlimited renewable energy.
Growing
Here is where it does get a little tricky. With regards to cultivating the plant, there is not a lot of details. But based on the few sources we could find, it appears that the plant thrives better indoor than it will be outdoor. Not that it does not grow well in open space, but it seems to have better yields inside the house. Of course, that is subjective and is dependent on the equipment used and the expertise level of the growers.
Flowering Time
Indoors The plant tends to be bushy with a lot of lateral branching. It should be ready for flowering in eight weeks. Under 1,000 watts of light, it is possible to produce anywhere from 16 to 32 ounces of buds.
Outdoors As far as we can tell, it grows up to more than 6 feet when planted outdoor. The Green Avenger may not produce as much yield as it can if using hydroponics and powerful lights. One estimate pegs it at around 6 ounces per plant. It should start to flower in the last week of September.
