Heard a vague acquaintance joking yesterday that if a podcast creator didn't want anyone to listen to a particular episode, they could just release it on Christmas Day because no one listens to podcasts on Christmas. I could have absolutely blown his mind if I told him about the two-hour Wolf 359 finale released on December 25th.

#Obviously a very Western/Christian-centric perspective from this guy #In his slight defence he was only thinking about non-fiction podcasts #where people are much more likely to skip episodes #and he was discussing his plans to produce potentially the most niche podcast known to man #But anyway I would be fascinated to know how many Christmas-celebrating Wolf 359 fans #absented themselves from celebrations for a couple of hours that year #Ngl I think I had to wait until Boxing Day to listen fully #it was painful #the empty man rambleth

it turned nine into a stereotypical villain who had his own army of ships for some reason (think star wars vibes) and any time he had a trauma moment, everyone would make fun of him and get genuinely shocked when he got worse

We need to talk about this. This scene scared me. The pause scared me. The way Ayan said "No, I won't leave you." My heart stopped for a second. He struggled to say no. He didn't even realise how similar he behaves to his uncle. I hate to voice this but I have to. The way he said no - he thought of it. He thought of going the same way his uncle did. But he realised that he would put his mother through all of this pain again if he did it. This only adds to his own pain and burden he is carrying. Ayan is this out-going character that loves to tease Akk and has his mission. But he uses his extroverted side to cover up his pain. Ayan is depressed and caught in a cycle of grief out of which he cannot break free. He thinks revenge/knowing the truth about Teacher Chadok and the school will give him peace - it won't. His mother is right. Ayan has gotten so deep into this, his life revolves entirely around his uncle's death. He risks everything for finding out the truth behind it. Ayan blames himself for his uncle's death and finding out the truth will not set him free. Ayan tears his own wounds open, he doesn't allow himself to heal. I understand his desire for truth, he needs it for closure. But once he knows the truth, he won't rest. He will want to do something about Teacher Chadok/the school rules. He is doing exactly what is uncle did. He is destroying himself while he tries to go against the system. He tries to comfort and bring peace to others while he isn't giving any of that to himself.
