I wish more fanartists would put their work on AO3. Just followed an artist who organizes their work by making a series for Fandom X, and within that, they have multi-chapter works for different ships & gen. Every new chapter is just their latest image for that subject.

It's been so delightful not to have to wade through social media algorithms and endless ads.

i've been so fucked up for months i haven't been able to go downtown to pick up my work from last spring from my school's textile studio and they always have a cutoff date like if you don't pick up your old work by x date they toss it and they're pretty strict about that unless you arrange with the studio tech beforehand, and the studio tech doesn't like most people she's pretty curt with most students. not rude but just keeps things professional and a bit distant, a very serious person. but i know she grew to like me over the past few years/warmed up to me a lot and we'd chat a lot about different textile things and she would say really kind things to me a lot which felt rare and special, and she let me have special treatment with some of the equipment because she trusted me to use it properly. and i haven't seen her in nearly a year and i expected her to have tossed my work out when i didn't come to pick it up last fall and emailed her to explain why and dropped off the face of the earth, i made my peace with losing that work and accepted it, it is what it is, i will survive, etc.

but she emailed me earlier this week and said she didn't have the heart to toss my work and has kept it safe in her office for me if i'm ever able to come pick it up and if not she's going to keep it as an example piece to show other students when teaching weaving because it's too lovely to get rid of and my heart swelled like 10 times its size bc she didn't have to do that and it meant so much to me that even a year from seeing her last she was still thinking about me and being kind to me. and i emailed her back and picked it up today and saw her and we chatted for a bit and it was so nice. I love her I miss my school's textile studio and weaving in there and talking craft with her... sigh

#ill never able to finish that program because i cant afford tuition anymore & am ineligible for student loans now #so ill never get to weave in that studio or work with her again and i didnt have the heart to tell her its just too sad #but we exchanged personal emails and instagrams so i know we'll keep in touch #being sick at home 95% of the time makes it easy to forget how nice it feels to interact with other people #who see you as like. an independent competent adult they respect as a colleague of sorts... its really really nice

I’m finally biting the bullet and contacting a therapist today after being ambivalent ab it for so long… this hellsite has its many disadvantages but one thing I can say is it has truly helped me be less scared of pursuing therapy. Silver lining etc etc

#And to be clear I have nothing against therapy. I’ve seen it do wonders for other people #I think the reason it’s a point of defeat (just a little) for me to be like ok. I need a therapist. Is bc I’m admitting to myself that I #need one to begin w. And I get it’s not healthy but I always liked to think I could handle anything by myself #That was even the whole point of this blog. It was supposed to serve as a conduit for these feelings #And I’m not saying I don’t have a support system. I do. I have many wonderful friends #But I struggle to be vulnerable at all tbh and whenever I am I’m guilty ab it bc #I understand so many people have busy lives & I feel like an emotional burden on them by venting #Despite them telling me that it’s totally fine. Obvi a therapist is literally paid to listen so no guilt there #And I think that’s what I need #I’m not like on the brink of a psychotic break or anything but it’s just little things. I think it’d be nice to sit in someone’s office for #One hour a week and just go. That did bother me actually. I am tired actually. I do feel that way actually. #Rather than just burying my feelings w school and a busy schedule #I don’t think therapy will make me any less of a workaholic anytime soon but it’ll at least allow me to slow down one hour a week #And also not bottle shit up so fuckin much #But ya all of this is to say I’m drafting the email to her RIGHT now . #Starting the day off strong by oversharing on tumblr dot com

The jump btwn the second to last and last always surprise me whenever I make one of these because I always forget to take snapshots after I start painting. It's always like: oh yeah heres the lineart with some colors- BOOM fully finished✨️

I was going to draw the crown too but decided I don't hate myself that much(maybe some other day), and gave him a golden laurel crown, bcs I'm obsessed with that as a motif, and also its very remincient of the boy king statue that started this whole thing!

There's some symbolism of this, both intentionally but also just historically. I love that the orb represents that the monarch is holding the world in their hand, basically every old monarchy has one of those, and I think it's very cool for symbolism. But also bcs of that, I was forced to basically draw catholic fanart so, you win some you lose some. The star halo above him head is both to reference those religious statues with star crowns(I saw them a lot in Europe and they imprinted onto my brain), as well as: his four championships of course!

tattoo day 2! what a difference in the pain and swelling with this one. i'm gonna talk about some perhaps gross stuff about the healing process so, a warning for below.

my last tattoo, on day 2, the saniderm (the clear bandage on top) was filled with so much excess ink and plasma it ended up coming off. and my arm was so swollen it was like a huge red balloon.

this time around there's almost no swelling, just a little redness, and almost no leaking. there's a little excess ink leaking in some spots, making some of the lines look a little wonky underneath the saniderm, but last time around there was so much leakage you couldn't even see the tattoo. seems like this time around i'll be able to keep the saniderm on for the full 3 days. so the healing process should be a bit quicker!

not sure if it's healing better this time around because my last tattoo was so black heavy or what, but i'm happy

#i love this tattoo so got damn much #also the mantis is a female! i took a closer look and counted the segments on her abdomen #which is accurate to the chubbiness of her abdomen too.. seems like a very anatomically correct female mantis #definitely glad i went to someone who loves bugs as much as i do #she also keeps spiders as pets! man it was just so nice talking to someone with similar interests lol.. none of my friends keep inverts #she said she's going to email me when this local invert seller we both frequent get these communal velvet spiders in stock #i didn't even know there was a species of velvet spiders that can be kept communally #anyway now i'm rambling #tattoo #100% going to book my next tattoo with her again though
