My 1D-related fic faves of 2019

I've read a TON of great fic this year in all kinds of fandoms, Jeeeeeeeeeesus, there are so many talented writers out there, but I won't list it all here (or even list everything I bookmarked this year). Instead, I'm gonna stick with 1D-related works released in 2019 that pulled me in hard and made me stare at the wall and/or read again and/or scream about with other people, and I'll try to do it in cutesie number order because WHY NOT make it that extra level of arbitrary, lmao. I love fanfic because no matter what fandom I'm dipping in, something new is gonna jump up and kill me (this year in particular, I've subscribed to a lot of "new to me" writers that I LOVE, and I hope you know who you are [do you know who you are, etc.]). Thank you for the free gifts, for your time, for your blood, sweat, and tears! I owe you hugs, coffee, and my undying love, gratitude, and support! I'll put my list under the cut to avoid some v. v. real screen scroll rage--happy new year, y'all!

I Think You're Already Home, by jaerie, Seeing Louis Tomlinson today, it would be hard to guess that he was ever once a member of the world's most famous boyband. These days he doesn't even the leave his own house. The truth is he can't leave his own house. (a December gift to remember for all of us! a/b/o dynamics, famous Louis, omega Harry--which is practically canon at this point--crippling agoraphobia, lactation-related sexiness, I would read at least ten (10) more chapters of this)

freaks from the internet, by jaerie. Harry sells his breast milk to freaks on the internet. Louis turns out to be one of those freaks. He also happens to be Harry's ex. (I legit can't believe this came out this year, I rec it all the time! it was anon for forever, and I was low-key obsessed because I just wanted mawrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr of it, and I got it, thank CHRIST)

I Just Wanna Taste It, by @homosociallyyours. In his mind it's watermelon and sticky strawberry sweet, and he craves the feeling of his own round, firm belly warm under his hands on a summer evening. (Megan loves to kill me with Harry mpreg imaginings, and this one feels like canon to me!)

Powerless (and I Don't Care It's Obvious), by objectlesson/ @alienfuckeronmain. He should not be getting turned on by Harry’s full-bladder discomfort, his little twitches, his hips-stuttering. And yet. (AND YET!!! I don't even know where to start with how much I love Phoenix, what a treasure her work is in ANY fandom, how shitty this particular fandom has been to her, how much I'm gonna miss harry/louis fic gifts from her in the future, how HOT this pee kink fic is in general, dot dot dot)

Tuxedo Classic Dance Party, by Blake/ @newleafover. Instead of flying out to meet his touring boyfriend in Madrid, Louis sticks around to be responsible and do things like dance at Lady Gaga night at the gay cowboy club in West Hollywood. (Blake has written at least five fics in various fandoms that I would say are my favorite fics of all time, but they really topped themselves with this one!)

(I feel like there are probably loads more that qualify, but these ones grabbed me in their own particular way)

Not That Gone, by abrighteryellow/ @a-brighter-yellow. Louis’s 20-year high school reunion takes a turn when a celebrity classmate – who also happens to be Louis’s long unrequited crush – unexpectedly shows up. (this was inspired by Chris Evans, and both parts stand on their own, tbh)

Maybe I Miss You, by 13ways. Louis is on his way back to London after the Hits Live Birmingham concert. Harry is flying to New York for the Met Gala. They connect. (from the very first story in this series, I was HOOKED, canon angst that builds up to something truly wonderful)

There's something I want to try..., by TheMagicWord. Harry wants to try something. Louis's not convinced. Until he is. (the installments are super short, super hot)

One More Time Again, by orphan_account. On the morning of his second sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden, Harry wakes up to find that he's sixteen years old, on The X Factor, and that he has a chance to make things right. (I'm sad that this author orphaned, but I seem to recall her getting a TON of shit, which is unfortunate because this is a great read, and part two is an imagining where Louis goes back instead)

5 fics featuring holidays

(These ones are basically from Christmas and Halloween of this year, so quite recent!!)

once bitten and twice shy, by @pinkcords. In a rush of bravery only senior year can bring, Harry confesses his feelings in a letter to his neighbor and best friend, Louis, only for the entire school to hear it and laugh him out of their small town in Wisconsin. (the notes on this one blew me away: first-time author, pinch-hitting for a fest, and damn, a knock out)

you've set my soul to dreaming, by we_are_the_same. Thirty-year-old Harry Styles goes to bed single on Christmas Eve, only to wake up on Christmas morning with a husband in his bed and a son down the hall. (I'm not always into this trope, but when it's done well? NICE, and this one did it well)

when half spent was the night, by @juliusschmidt. I’ve skimmed your website and am interested in hiring you to be my doula. I’m 7 ½ months pregnant and not keen to do this whole labor and birth thing alone. After looking around, I thought you might be a good fit. (girl direction advent fic with pregnant Louis that’s incredibly well done, especially given how short it is, I was so sad to see it end, but the author says something about act II coming??? YES!!!)

Fictober 2019 Collection, by flowercrownfemme/ @lesbianiconharrystyles. Features lots of monsters and creatures and Harry Styles being a general nightmare as well as a few Girl Direction drabbles and a timestamp for Fool For You and one for Treat Mothman With Kindness. (Chloe's Halloween drabbles, each of which could outrival other stories 4x the length...she's a GIFT)

Cat & Mouse, by jaerie. It's the one day out of the year that Harry doesn't have to hide and can be himself — at least he thought so. Louis is just a little more observant than he anticipated. (I'm not a big hybrid fic fan, BUT GOD THIS STORY IS SO GOOD, it's so short I wanna cry, but so good!!!)

6 a/b/o fics

(I can handle "traditional" a/b/o if it gives me my dose of omega Harry, but I absolutely adore "untraditional" a/b/o, you know, where it actually is NOT about straight dynamics being put on a m/m or f/f couple (excuse me, a/a or o/o)...these ones NAIL IT, as did the entire gaybo ficfest)

violence of my own touch, by 14hrflight/ @silverfoxlouis. Louis hasn’t said anything, but Harry knows something is wrong. Harry’s rut had ended a few days ago, and Louis had kept him under as best as he could. (whenever I read Chi's alpha/alpha fics, I find myself internally screaming "CHI!!!" god, do they Get It, and I really hope they continue this one!)

Amor Victorious, by HappyPrincess/ @pattern-pals. Louis finds himself following Harry on a journey through Italy, complete with long train rides, greasy food, naked Christs, and too many lingering touches. They're definitely not like other tourists and he definitely doesn't have a crush on his best friend who happens to be an alpha, too. (this one came out during Thanksgiving week, so I held it to savor, and BOY, DID I SAVOR, it's so incredible, the gorgeous writing, the visceral, indescribable feeling of reading it, sighhhhhhh)

do you know me by heart, by HappyPrincess/ @pattern-pals. Harry comes back wearing alphas' scents, a pleased smile and a lace dress. Somehow, Louis still ends up making him come until he cries. (for me personally, 2019 was the year of Nina: getting to know them, catching up on all their writing, falling in love with the way they can kill us all with beautiful angst and the hint and hope of redemption...here's a tissue, you'll need it!!)

the way that you're thrilling me, by @hereforlou. Alphas were smelly and cocky and mostly arseholes, in Harry’s experience. Or at least they were at school. He didn’t understand how his friends—lovely, soft-skinned, sweet-smelling omegas—could actually want to touch them, or be touched by them. (this is just one of the many, MANY faves I had from the gaybo ficfest, A+ all around)

Constant Debauchery, by Blake/ @newleafover. Harry is an alpha who loves getting his mouth knotted by other alphas. Louis is happy to serve. Fun smut! But also angst and sexual awakenings. (Blake knows how to sum up their writing, lol, but YEAH, me as at least one of the comments both public and private saying they'd want to read 100k more of this)

how many nights did I crash against the waves, by Blake/ @newleafover Louis is going into heat and Harry thinks it's hot. (the SKILL of writing something that's 1.7k, yet builds a complete--and v. v. hot--world)

(I still have a few I need to read in this category--I'm getting there! But these are some from my fave authors that really had me pondering some walls [heh])

I Want Your Belly, by @glasscushion. Harry wants Adam to knock him up. Inspired by on-stage thirst, the Instagram Stories Shirt, Watermelon Sugar, and Harry’s persistent baby fever. (Adam/Harry, mpreg kink of the finest order!!)

Rachel, Nevada, by @vondrostes. Harry has a close sexual encounter of the fourth kind. (Jeff/Harry, Rachel/Harry, and I honestly can't even BEGIN to describe this, holy WOW)

Sea Salt, by @glasscushion. Nick's drunk, and he can't avoid his feelings forever. Set in 2013 and 2019. (Nick/Harry, rip gryles...the grylers I know had an absolute field day in terms of angst, damn!)

all my lies are safe beside you now, by HappyPrincess/ @pattern-pals. They both know what it was like to love Louis Tomlinson fiercely, irrevocably, ghosts of it on their skin, even if the traces were etched in vastly different ways. (Zayn/Harry, and FOR REAL, this is a huge ouch)

call me anything you like, but my name is, by @wishforwishes. Some conversations are better left forgotten, some conversations are worth remembering, and some conversations you never get the chance to have. Featuring three mentors, two tea parties, one and a half recording studios, and a reference to Archie comics. (Harry/CHASM, essentially; LISTEN, I am obsessed with this fic, you don't need to read part one to really Get It, but the bits with Zayn, and James/Ben, and all the parts with Harry working through gender? SO GODDAMNED REAL)

Come Out and Play, by @dinosaursmate. Harry and Louis discover a new kink in their relationship, and it brings all the boys closer than they could have ever imagined. (ot5 orgy, so not really Harry with anyone so much as everyone with everyone, and let's call this one canon)

Like a Rolling Stone, by @vondrostes. By the end of it, Nick realised his tea had gone cold in his hand. He’d barely taken a single sip in the hour-plus he’d been sat there, unmoving, transfixed by Harry’s songs—haunted by the knowledge of what had inspired them. (Nick/Harry, rip gryles)

8 canon fics

(This was a VERY hard category to narrow down, but yeah, a big push this year from "newer" writers = lots of nuanced fic)

Per Aspera, by @sedfierisentio. Louis’s throat feels tight, his heart like a hammer in his chest. You know my rot, he thinks, and I know yours. I love you still. (these achingly beautiful time stamps are centered around taste, and if this fic has taught me anything, it's that buying an author a coffee has a ripple effect)

A Nullo Amato, by @sedfierisentio. Inspired by Harry carrying books around outside LAX, a canon-compliant, Canon AU fic set between 2014 and 2015; mostly, timestamps roped together by a common theme—literature. (this was removed four years ago and reposted, so maybe it's a cheat??? i don't care, it was brand-new to me and a lot of other people, I'm so glad the author shared it again!)

no love like your love, by @dykes4louis. A collection of tumblr drabbles. (Hima is REALLY burying the lede on this one because each of these is short and SCORCHING, her skill, check out her other works, too!)

Dancing in My Dreams, by @kingsofeverything. Louis doesn't mean to imply that Harry's too old to dance for him, but Harry takes it that way, and sets out to prove him wrong. (this is one that *could* go in the series pile, but I love it as a standalone...feels like canon to me, regardless!)

Sonic Sounds, by @glasscushion. "Harry takes a deep breath, suitably embarrassed, “I’m just really...” and he can’t say the obvious. He can’t just say "really wet." Or Harry loves feeling embarrassed. Louis is happy to help. (I'll never look at those One Direction electric toothbrushes quite the same way again)

Bruised Fruit, by @glasscushion. Louis is obsessed with the way Harry smells in the heat of LA. (hey, you know what, me, too, bitch, you ain't special...the way this fic SMELLS, my god, I"m obsessed)

be my once in a lifetime, by HappyPrincess/ @pattern-pals. Just like there are only four other people who will ever understand what it’s like growing up in One Direction, there’s only one other person who knows what it’s like to find your soulmate just before you’re thrown into the spotlight and forced to acknowledge that the both of you have too many flaws and vices to make it through fame together. Or: It's all about having sex and being sad. And drunk. (can u believe Nina wrote this before Fine Line???)

in this dress, by cabinbythesea. Louis is so lost in his eyes and his words he feels if a step above heaven exists, it has to be Harry. Loosely inspired by Harry’s dress from the director’s cut of Lights Up. (I sure hope we see even more fic inspired by every bit of this album/every video it produces)

(This fandom doesn't deserve her, and I hope everyone's reading her other works because they're all so amazing, she's such an incredibly gifted writer, my fave of faves, my life is so much brighter with her in it...I could rec her all goddamned day, and I do slash will!!! Here are nine she cranked out this year, each one a gem in its own way)

Silver White Winters. In which Louis catches a cloud and pins it down, aka, a Sound of Music AU (the shittiness in the comments underlines why we can't have nice things, but jesus CHRIST, this is so pure and good, and she cranked it out in, like, two hours)

I don't do that dance. Harry is easily the worst ballet dancer in her whole Intro to Ballet class. Except maybe Taylor Swift. (I adore how Phoenix writes girl Harry, but the way she writes Taylor? Unparalleled...nails her perfectly!)

magic, madness, heaven, sin, by @kerasines. It’s the flashing lights painting colors on her eyelids, it’s the drumming bass competing with her heartbeat. It’s the manic energy rippling through the crowd in waves, the deafening, frenzied passion filling the stadium that remind Eleanor that she actually used to like going to concerts. (technically, this one is FOR Phoenix, from Kim, but it takes a pairing that Phoenix is making her very own, so I'm counting it, lol)

Snakes and Stones. If you call a girl a snake enough, sometimes she becomes one. Her legs lengthen and fuse, her pupils shrink to slits. She gets colder and colder, until she has to spread herself on the warm cement beside the pool, soaking in heat, sipping gin and tonics to warm her blood so she does not turn to ice and shatter to bits. (god, I'm blanking on this ship name, but El/Taylor is such an inspired pairing, and I hope that P's drabbles make it over to ao3 in full)

Something good (will come from here). Taylor does not answer, because she is too busy licking her lips and pitching forward, as if Eleanor is the sky, or the sea. (you can practically SMELL this fic, El/Taylor drabble)

I Must Confess (I Still Believe). Harry is the new girl at an all girl Catholic Girl's School, and Louis is the unattainable, dashing senior who changes her forever. (this fic breaks my heart, the entire experience of its production and aftermath will forever be bittersweet, a gorgeous swansong)

Only One at the Finish Line. “I want to be another alpha’s omega,” is what he says, and it comes out like something reckless, something wild. Like he doesn't care anymore if Louis hates him or not, if Louis understands, he just needs to speak his truth aloud to darkness, to the slender pines that surround them like a jury panel. (Phoenix was the gaybo mod, and this was her contribution, and it is PERFECTION PERSONIFIED, fest goals)

The Pink Ghost of Princess Park. The thought of the vibrator does not go away. It’s sitting there collecting dust all through January, and every time Harry and Louis have to leave town for a press event or a show or to record or what have you, they come back home, and it’s still there, the Pink Ghost of Princess Park, the fucking glittery haunting that Harry cannot stop thinking of Louis stuffing up his arse. (a very good year in general for Princess Park clapbacks)

Life Saver. Louis is a sweetheart punk with a theater background and a heart of gold, Harry is an inexperienced nerd who plays by the rules. Classmates, lab partners, and eventually friends, what happens when Louis knows he’s in love, but doesn’t know how tell Harry? (this one came out a year ago tomorrow, and it had a tough birthing process, but it's so good, so hot, my love for virgin Harry gettin’ it on knows no bounds)

breathless for an eternity, by cabinbythesea. Harry conquers double duty on SNL and Louis wishes he was Nick Jonas. (dangggg, this came out too late for me to rec it along with my other snl-related fic, but it joins that lofty canon!)

Pretty Baby, by @littlelouishiccups. Louis helps Harry unwind after a busy week. (I was NOT expecting a new chapter in the iconic sugar baby Harry series, but HERE WE ARE)

into another (another) serotonin overflow, by @mercutionotromeo. Sweet first time sex wherein Harry's adorably awkward, Louis is achingly cool, and Harry rides Louis wearing his jersey. (this is one of my all-time fave fics, and I'm not sure what changed in it to get it reposted, but yeah, HERE FOR IT, THANK YOU!!!)

'Sup, by @mediawhorefics. All Louis wants is to finish the play he’s been commissioned to write, but one of the regulars at his local coffee shop keeps distracting him. ft. older larry, pushy gemma, harry being a disaster gay and silver fox louis. (this is so short but so tantalizing, GOD, DO I WANT MORE OF THIS UNIVERSE)

Tan Lines and Some Memories, by twoshipstiedup. Harry Styles is the indie movie darling he’d been avoiding ever since Louis saw his movie at Cannes and harbored an unreasonable grudge against him. A unicorn t-shirt finally brings them together in person. (I honestly thought we'd get more unicorn shirt fic, but this is a wonderful standard-bearer, banter city)

Bitter Tangerine, by purpledaisy/ @daisyharry. Nine months after they break up, a twist of fate brings Harry and Louis back together at Christmas. (so much ouch in this, but wow, do you feel like you're reading fully realized, realistic, growing characters)

We're Driving in Your Fast Car, by @sadaveniren. Harry felt himself light up - both with excitement and the thrill of getting what he wanted. “Really?” “Of course, anything for you." aka Louis and Harry are car thieves about to pull off a million dollar job. (another one I'd love to read more of...how did they get here, where are they going, etc.)

remember you well, by @fondleeds. Harry’s a criminal, Louis’ a cop, and they’re stranded overnight at the Motel 6. (what's with me and my love of heist/caper fics this year?)

Tied Down, by HamPalpert/ @ham-palpert. The most interesting case in Liam and Niall's careers falls directly into their laps, courtesy of an epic fuck-up of one Harry Styles, partner to the almost-infamous drug dealer Louis Tomlinson. The investigation yields an unexpected yet satisfactory outcome for Liam and Niall. For Harry and Louis, however, things are far more complicated. (SEE ABOVE, JESUS, I THINK ABOUT THIS FIC...ALL...THE.......TIME)

Harry Styles Cooks..., by sunsetmog. Louis owns all of Harry Styles’ cookbooks, and he never intends to cook a single thing out of any of them. (yeah, it's a wip, yeah, I flatline every time it updates, what of it, I'm living my best life vicariously through it!!)

NEO CITY: THE ORIGIN tour

4/28 Watsco Center (Miami)

Btw if any of you saw some crazy headass with a white light stick constantly being hype and waving like hell tonight... that extra ass was me 😂

But hey, I think Jaehyun might've laughed at some dumb ish I did, and a few of em kept looking over to our section (prob bc we were sorta close sect.101 or bc my section was lowkey extra af 😂🤙🏻)

The entire night was so amazing I legit almost cried from how blessed that NCT concert was, ok? I even caved and bought merch for once. (I just wish I couldve afforded all of it tbh,,, bc it was just.. so nice ugh.. 😭)

Whenever the PCD* hits (and god will it hit), I'm just going to have to accept the consequence of being able to enjoy and partake in such an amazing night with open arms. I hope they enjoyed Miami (and the beach!), and had as much fun as nctzens did at the venue. Damn y'all, we were SO LOUD!! They really did look like they were having a great time up there, I hope our reactions helped cheer them on despite all of the hard work they put into what must be an exhaustive, difficult show. But they powered through and did amazing, so proud of them 💕

Seeing NCT from your screen to seeing them irl is honestly no joke, it was a world of difference.. and then some. Getting to experience those high notes and powerful choreography and the ments and everything... wow, was this an experience. The venue was great, the VCRs were amazing, there's not a thing I would change tbh. Perfection! 😭👌🏻

I also hope the guys can keep your promise & come back sometime but hey, that's for another day lol (@ sm: do it you cowards!👉🏻👉🏻 ...pls)

Here's to you, Neo City, farewell for now & until we meet again. Best wishes to all of the lovely members & thanks again to them for such a wonderful, memorable night💛 Probably the best concert I've ever been to, the concert to ruin concerts for me from its sheer power, beauty, and grace alone. Bless every minute of it, I'd relive it all in a heartbeat, if I could 🙏🏻

Experimental SHINee - Feature Spotlight

Hello babies, and welcome to the next Feature Spotlight in the SHINee Spotlight series!! My name is Jace (aka Felicity B), and today we're gonna be taking a slow drive through SHINee's more experimental era. This era in SHINee's career actually features my first SHINee comeback (Dream Girl, dahlings), so I am The Most Excited™ for this FSL!! It feels like Dream Girl dropped ten years ago, rather than just five, but I guess that's what K-Pop does to you.

And in case anyone is wondering why I'm going in reverse chronological order, it's because 1of1 and Misconceptions of Me are my favorite SHINee albums.

Era Spotlight

So, I cheated. I really should have featured from DxDxD in this list instead of ones from FIVE, but I don't really like DxDxD!?!??! It's literally my least favorite SHINee album, sis. FIVE, to be frank with you all, fit more in line with the '90s 5HINee era, but it also fits in this experimental era pretty well.

The name of the game here is experimental, folks. SHINee must have gotten a little bored after they decided to go RnB again after LUCIFER. The bulk of the songs on this list were released in 2013, a year that SHINee really pushed the boundaries of who they were as a group, and I almost kind of miss it. Granted, I loved the maturity in sound they came back with on Odd and 1of1 (the former more than the latter, tbh), but this experimental phase was just a fun time to be a SHINee fan. This list includes songs from both Misconceptions albums, the Everybody mini album, and the previously mentioned Japanese album FIVE.

Spoiler (Misconceptions of You ~Dream Girl~)

Gurl... SHINee was not fuckin' around with us with Spoiler.

Spoiler is a song that Jonghyun wrote incorporating all the song titles from the Misconceptions series in the lyrics. And sis, I was like, "This is cute, or whatevahs!!" when he spoiled the tracklisting for Misconceptions of You, but when Misconceptions of Me dropped and we found out he spoiled that too?!?!?! My wig wasn't just lopsided, she was free floating in space.

SHINee really fucking Did That™ with Spoiler, sis.

Spoiler sounds like someone took Sherlock, and turned her into a vampire. Spoiler is Sherlock's darker and more seductive older sister. It's kind of interesting how they kicked off the Misconceptions series with Spoiler, a song that starts out like their previous title track, but with a dark twist. It's almost like they were making a statement, sis. This SHINee is New and Improved™ SHINee. This SHINee is Upgraded™ SHINee. SHINee 2.0, if you will. We snatched you with RnB/Funk, we snatched you with EDM, and now we're gonna snatch you with both. Enjoy!!

Symptoms (Everybody)

I imagine sex feels like what listening to this song feels like.

Symptoms is an eletro-RnB song that sounds like it was snatched right from the Billboard Top 40. Which doesn't surprise me, because it was produced by the Underdogs (who also produced EXO's Overdose, another song that's dripping in that Top 40 sound from the time). Symptoms is a song that starts out loud and proud; it gives you Drama™, and it gives zero fucks about it. She looks at you without a care in the world and says, "My name is Symptoms, what did you expect!?!?! A cutesy pop track?!?!?! Boi, if you don't get!!"

And mind you, that's what I love about ha.

I fucking love a SHINee song that gives us all the bells and whistles, because they really don't have to. Look at Odd Eye - she's as stripped back as it gets for RnB midtempos, but SHINee still Shine Bright Like A Diamond!! But here's the thing - these dramatic ass niggas love songs like these. You can't tell me these SHINee boys don't love a beat with all the bells and whistles; the way they always come correct on songs like these says it all.

Become Undone (FIVE)

Speaking of songs that lack bells and whistles, Become Undone is not one of them. You'd have to be a Fool™ to think a song titled Become Undone on a Japanese record could be a toned down track.

These types of songs are usually the most dramatic.

Become Undone is an angsty song. She's a song I can see playing during a scene where an anime protagonist has to make an extremely hard decision. Like, intentionally stepping into a trap to save your friends, or deciding between saving your loved ones or the world (don't look at me like that, you guys have seen Sailor Moon).

The main star of the show here is the chorus. That's true of most pop songs, but especially so for Become Undone. She features The SHINee Specialty™ (their ridiculous ability to blend their harmonies together like fuckin' buttah), the trap beats presented in the verse kicked up 10,000 for Maximum Drama™, and orchestral stabs that tie everything together. Become Undone has one of the most emotionally satisfying choruses I've heard in a pop song. Sis, I'm literally the INTENSIFIES meme listening to this song, it's just so good.

I'm really glad that groups like SHINee have had the pleasure of working with a Japanese team to release music in Japan, because it allows them to play with their sound in a way that they can't in Korea. And that's not to say that SHINee haven't played with their sound in Korea (this FSL is literally on the era they experimented with their sound the most), but there's certain sounds and textures that are specifically J-Pop in feel, and it's really cool to see a group like SHINee tap into that.

Orgel (Misconceptions of Me ~Why So Serious~)

Okay sis, now we're actually bringing it down a notch. Not for long, but I figured y'all could use a break, even if it's short lived.

Orgel is a song that's quite similar to Odd Eye in the fact that it's SHINee driving the song with their vocal performance, and the beat is going along for the ride. Orgel also features a melody that sounds like a something you'd hear in a music box, and while that motif is quite overused in pop music, it doesn't make Orgel feel played out. It's just a really pretty song from five really pretty boys.

Orgel is a really neat song, because even though SHINee are driving the song with their voice, they're really not doing a whole lot on the beat. Their vocal performance on Orgel is subtle in the same way the beat is (or rather, as subtle as these boys get), but they still stand out. It's an interesting experience, sis.

Queen of New York (Everybody)

Now this is A Song™, sis.

Queen of New York feels very lounge cafe, sis; she's very "let me sip my expensive coffee drink while I read the latest copy of Cosmo or OK! Magazine". Queen of New York is also very much something the drag queens are voguing to at the local gay club. Miss Queen of New York is a woman of many moods, okay?!?!?!

Queen of New York was a very fun surprise, because I don't think anyone was expecting a song quite like this on the Everbody mini album. She's very edgy, but in a way that you don't expect songs described as "edgy" to sound. Queen of New York has a very polished feel to her, but there's a dirtiness to her that you can't tame. She's a proper Upper Middle Side woman, but she's not afraid to take a walk on the wild side. She's not afraid to show you how to get down, and I just love that so much.

One Minute Back (Everybody)

This is also A Song™, babes.

One Minute Back is grungy, sis. She's not a proper Upper Middle Side woman, she's a punk rock/biker girl with a flair for the dramatic. Ain't nothin' polished here, ladies!! Well, SHINee's vocals are pretty polished, but that's a given. I've never heard a SHINee song where the vocals weren't produced to a T.

But despite that, Ms One Minute Back and Ms Queen of New York are happily married!!

One Minute Back, like Queen of New York, was a song I was pleasantly surprised to hear on Everybody. One Minute back has such grungy verses, but then the chorus and the bridge are so Funky and so SHINee. BUT THE TWO DIFFERENT VIBES BLEND TOGETHER LIKE IT'S NOTHING!! It's such an aurally pleasing experience, you guys!! The reason I compared One Minute Back to Queen of New Year is that they're both marry these two moods to amazing results. I mean, Queen of New York doesn't fully commit to the grunginess, but there's enough of it lying below the surface that it's worth mentioning.

ABOAB (FIVE)

Ms ABOAB is a Bad Bitch™. She's a Boss Bitch™. She has no time for your games, boo. Ms ABOAB is a brazen ElectroFunk number that makes no apologizes.

If SHINee wanted to make a record like Everybody for the Japanese market, ABOAB would have been the title track/lead single. Miss ABOAB is spicy. She's seductive. Miss ABOAB is full on club bounce, and I McFucking L O V E when SHINee do those kinds of songs. There's just something so sexy about them working that club vibe, sis. I lowkey wasn't ready for ABOAB, but she really didn't care. She mesmerizes with the way she flits between emphasizing her Funk and Electro elements.

And that damn drop with the horn line... BITCH!! My wig has been compromised.

Runaway (Misconceptions of You ~Dream Girl~)

Runaway is another ElectroFunk track, but brighter and poppier in a way that contrasts ABOAB quite nicely. It's no less fun and club ready, tho.

Runaway is mainly driven by a punchy synth stab and SHINee's very fun usage of their vocal harmonies. While Miss ABOAB would whip ha weave in ya face if you ever tried to talk to her, Miss Runaway would make silly faces at you and coax you into doing silly dances. I, always and forever, wanna see SHINee in concert, but I especially wanna see Runaway and ABOAB performed live, because they always do these types of club ready tracks Just Right™.

Hitchhiker (Misconceptions of You ~Dream Girl~)

Because God Knows^™ these boys can't not give us a track that channels the very essence of MJ and his weave.

If Spoiler was too gimmicky of a sequel to Sherlock for you, then Hitchhiker is your song. Hitchhiker, to me, sounds like the perfect representation of this era in SHINee's discography - let's take what we already do well and marry it to a whole new palette of song styles/textures, and see what sticks.

And lemme tell you somethin' - Hitchhiker sticks like fucking glue. Remember what I said about SHINee loving the bells and whistles that comes with doing over the top songs?!?!?! That's in full effect here, sis. Hitchhiker is anthemic as all fuck, and these boys ride that beat like they were made for it. And to be completely, I have no doubt in my mind that they were.

Nothing to Lose (FIVE)

So who else was expecting to get something hella grungy like Natalia Kills' Break You Hard or Seventeen's Clap with how hard that guitar was filtered?!?!?! I can't be the only one here.

Nothing to Lose bait and switches us with that dark n grungy guitar riff, because the majority of the song is rather bright n poppy. But I really can't be mad, because I rather liked the way they transitioned the darker sections into the brighter ones. And Nothing to Lose is pure octane fun. It's kind of a hard song to hate, because it gives zero fucks about how cutesy and cheesy it is.

There's also a rather nice helping of Funk thrown into the mix, but I'm gonna pretend that that had nothing to do with much I like this song. Even though it's what makes me like it the most.

Punch Drunk Love (Misconceptions of You ~Dream Girl~)

Punch Drunk Love channels Love Like Oxygen like SHINee's producers were in the studio intentionally trying to produce a sequel to the song. And if you know anything about me, you know that Love Like Oxygen is literal auditory C R A C K for my black ass. Punch Drunk Love also sounds like SHINee's writers held a seance and channeled MJ's spirit when they were writing the song for the boys.

And y'all already K N O W I'm here for that shit.

Punch Drunk Love is the SHINee Five™ on autopilot, sis. SHINee will never not know how to come correct with a Funk song, and it warms my heart. The attitude, the harmonies (THE BUMBACLOT HARMONIES), the overall feel of the song; SHINee gets it right. If you ever needed a pickmeup, then put on SHINee's Punch Drunk Love, and thank me later. This is another song that is unabashedly cheesy, but gives absolutely zero fucks about it.

Evil (Misconceptions of Me ~Why So Serious~)

Evil can be summed by in two words - Drama and Killer Harmonies.

That's technically three, but you know what the fuck I meant.

Evil is SHINee at their most dramatic. I remember Shawols losing their collective minds at the fancams from the concert performances where they wore blindfolds.

Yes, you read that correctly. These dramatic ass motherfuckers were performing on stage with blindfolds on. They were, more than likely, see through blindfolds, but never doubt SHINee's collective love of the Drama™. They absolutely would dance completely blindfolded.

Evil starts out slow, but I very much doubt that many of us thought the song was gonna stay that way; SHINee were just building the atmosphere (read - creating the perfect environment to torch our weaves). Evil has an almost musical theater vibe to it, except not nearly as cheesy. Evil is honestly a one of a kind experience that we all need in our lives at some point.

Especially because SHINee were on their harmonic A game the day they recorded Evil. When the drums drop out and it's just the orchestral stabs with their voices?!?!? Fuckin' magic, ladies.

Like A Fire (Misconceptions of Me ~Why So Serious~)

We all Know™ Like A Fire, because of that one performance where Jonghyun, Kibum, and Jinki were having a contest to see whom tf could be the most extra (to be honest, I'd say Kibum won, based purely on the fact that I didn't even know he could wail like that). But Like A Fire stands firm on her own by being a wickedly good Funk song.

(Sidenote - I'm about 90% this list has more Funk tracks than my '90s 5HINee FSL, and I want you all know that that was not on purpose. I wont be changing it, but I swear it wasn't done purposefully!!)

Like A Fire, like Punch Drunk Love, is SHINee on autopilot. I don't know what else to say about this song. It's just so Classic SHINee™, sis!! The verses have a more somber, minor tone to them, but the choruses transition (maybe that's a modulation, I'm not Musically Advanced™ enough to make that call) into a killer major groove that is just so beautiful to listen to. I don't know anyone who doesn't like this song. Liking Like A Fire is a requirement for being a Shawol (especially a Shawol of color). If you don't like Like A Fire, you're invalid.

I need to say something about these harmonies and ad libs, tho. Did the producer of Like A Fire tell the SHINee Boys™ to go HAM the day they were laying down tracks for Like A Fire?!?!?! Did they mean for the harmonies and ad libs to get this over the top!?!?! I'm not complaining, I just wanna know. Because the harmonies and ad libs, especially, are so ridiculous!! I love every second of it, but sometimes it K I L L S how extra this song is!!

Diamond Sky (FIVE)

The first time I ever listened to this song, I cackled like a banshee at how extra that intro was, because it's so SHINee. It's so dramatic, and it suits SHINee to a T. I was expecting the verses to be some Final Dragon type shit, or somethin'!!!

Diamond Sky is pretty standard fare for a J-Pop song, imo. It doesn't stop me from loving SHINee's take on it (and it shouldn't stop you), but it's worth mentioning; SHINee + J-Pop = Love. Like I mentioned above, I'm glad that SHINee were able to continue releasing music in Japan, because this is a style of music that suits them well, but would not do well in Korea at all.

Diamond Sky feels like the theme song for a magical girl anime. The twinkly pianos, complemented by the strings and electric guitar give it an air of grandiosity that would have made it a perfect theme or insert song for Sailor Moon. If they had added a modulation at the end for Maximum Drama™, I'd have lost my shit.

Close the Door (Everybody)

Firstly, if you haven't watched the SHINee World IV performance where Jinki tap dances to Close the Door, I'm judging you. Our sweet dubu leader did not bless us with such beauty and grace for you to ignore it!!

Secondly, Close the Door is the cheesiest love song I've ever encountered in K-Pop. It's got the romantic sounding keys, the strings, it's in 6/8 time (perfect for a waltz, babies), the lyrics are so sugary sweet, and the chord progressions utilize mostly major chords. And you know what, I absolutely fucking love it. I'm a cheesy Romantic Gay™, and I fucking love this cheesy ass love song. It's just so aurally pleasing, especially since these SHINee boys all have voices that blend together amazingly when they harmonize. Sue me.

Sleepless Night (Misconceptions of Me ~Why So Serious~)

SHINee ballads are a wonderful, amazing thing, you know?!?!? Especially when they don't give us the typical classical ballad, but go a little left field into something jazzy or RnB. Which is what they do with Sleepless Night.

This week's playlist features a lot of songs that are extremely over the top, sis. And I mean, we've discussed this; these SHINee boys love the drama of it all. But they also love lowkey songs like Sleepless Night. You'd be able to tell if they didn't with a song this stripped back and bare. Sleepless Night is literally the SHINee boys (and their amazing harmonies), a piano, and some strings. And it's fucking amazing. There are quite a few songs from SHINee that I want to experience live, but I think Sleepless Night tops the list. Well, that and Wish Upon A Star, but I'm sure I'd cry my fucking eyes out listening to that. I mean, I might cry my eyes out to Sleepless Night, but there's less of a chance there.

I've accepted that I'm a boring bitch who lives for a good ballad (the amount of ballads I've had to listen to for my RRUs has definitely proven this), but there's nothing quite like a good SHINee ballad, sis. There ain't never been a SHINee ballad that I didn't like.

hi hello the whole experience is still so surreal to me but i'm going to document as much as i can in this post while it's still fresh in my memory :^) note: i didn’t reread this since i’m literally just rambling everything and trying to recollect what happened HAHA read... with discretion? - FAN ENGAGEMENT - so this was my first time at kcon and i was super confused with everything, but luckily i went with a friend who already had experience from going previous years (@ftwonwoo HI TRACEY). we were lucky enough to get three seventeen audience passes from the vouchers that came with our concert tickets (( WHICH ARE COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED I MIGHT ADD )). i reaaallly wanted hitouch and was willing to pay up to maybe $50 for it but seventeen was in high demand so every offer i found was $100+ OTL. i mean i was able to afford it, but i didn't think it was worth buying for, maybe, 40 seconds of interaction ;_;. waiting in line was like a blur to me i just remember thinking it was hot because we were told to stand in line outside with no shade at all. i was straight up sweating buckets and also screaming internally because i was going to look like a mess in front of seventeen AHAHAHAHA. i kept admiring some of the fans in line who made the effort to have really nice rose quartz serenity outfits while i was wearing like......black lmfao good job kellz what the heck were you thiNKING. the only rose quartz i had on me was my phone case and this headband i made that said 최한솔 (chwe hansol) on it which i’m 120% sure vernon didn’t see it Bye

okay so all hell broke loose while seventeen were coming onto stage one by one, and unfortunately i missed them walking onstage since there was this girl in front of me―who i thought was a fansite bc she had a camera with detachable lens―holding up an ANNOYING AS FUCK POSTER THAT BLOCKED MY ENTIRE VIEW. i told her to put it down (several times actually) and when she did, i immediately counted the members and noticed hoshi wasn't there?? i was a little disappointed for a sec but i understood he needed his rest so it was for the best, so props at pledis for not letting him attend for the sake of his health ;_;. they first introduced themselves and oh my god Y'ALL hearing "SAY THE NAME, SEVENTEEN!! hi, we are seventeen!" is so goosebump inducing lol i've heard them say their signature greeting so many times through my laptop screen but it's a whole different level hearing it in person. okay fast forward my memory kind of gets broken here but they basically answered a few questions (i remember them naming s.coups as the dad and jeonghan the mom of the group) and they also had a mission every time they rolled a dice. dino - random dance to dnce's 'cake by the ocean', seungkwan - favorite pop song (he sang adeles's 'when we were young' OMG THIS BOY'S VOICE IS HEAVENLY I NEED A FULL VER ASAP), seokmin - random dance to big bang's fantastic baby (before he danced, he threw the dice into the crowd which was sO funny and unexpected, i didn't see where it went but he had his hands together afterwards and looked like he was apologizing LOL also s.coups was literally on the floor dying of laughter), joshua + jeonghan - aegyo, mingyu - sexy dance to justin timberlake's 'sexy back' (he was really into it at first doing body waves and then he got shy, it was so cute LOL), wonwoo - i think he also got favorite song? he sang 'see you again' and it was nice hearing everyone in the room singing along with him!! i was worried that they'd be tired from flying in from chicago hours before the event started, but they were all really energetic and lively and cute. after this segment ended, it was time for the hitouch and it was so interesting seeing how each member interacted with fans since it... really reflects their personality if that makes sense?? i think s.coups, mingyu, and vernon probably had the best fan interaction. they never wiped off the huge smile they had on their faces and s.coups was legit CLASPING each fan's hand instead of giving high-fives alfkjalskfjaljsk. the hitouch went by really fast and on the screen, it showed their faces one by one and i remember fans screaming the loudest for jun omfg he is sooooo handsome;; well all of them looked really handsome tbh and i really liked jeonghan and woozi's chokers :^). minghao had a really cute smile the whole time too!! after they left i went outside and really just sat there letting it all sink in that i saw them.... me.... with my own two eyes.... seeing their adorable faces and laughs and interactions with each other and then suddenly realizing i probably won't be able to experience this again LOLLLLLLLL okay no need to be dramatic onto the next part - SATURDAY CONCERT - it was unannounced that vernon, joshua, and s.coups would be the MCs in the beginning so it was the biggest surprise of my LIFE i think i went a little overboard with the screaming at times rip but vernon was such a natural at emceeing!! his english was flawless omg and joshua, s.coups, and mingyu did a really good job too! the concert stage was set up as.... i guess you can call it a 360 stage? so sometimes the artists entered in from the sections where audience was sitting. i knew they were coming from between section 110 and 111. 110 was the section i bought for combo saturday and sunday tickets, but i sold it for saturday's concert because i found better seats, but it was still the section i had for sunday's concert, which seventeen didn't attend AHAHAHA wow is this what i get for being greedy and purchasing closer tickets just for saturday??? ehhh it's okay, the seats that i had were far on the right and they entered in the aisle on my far left so i wouldn't be able to see them anyway LOL. seventeen's first performance had unit stages, which went in this order: performance unit - swimming fool > vocal unit - 입버릇 > hip hop unit - check in. and then there were other artist stages afterwards, but they came back to perform other tracks (don't wanna cry, rock remix, and aju nice). the vcr kcon played before seventeen’s second performance was amazing, it was quite similar to the kcon japan vcr, except for LA they had a different logo which i'm sure a lot of you have already seen lol. i think some fans were calling it a hearbeat logo which is genius imo it's an actual representation of what my heartbeat looks like when i see or hear anything seventeen related!!!!!!! throughout their performance i remember seeing jeonghan, seokmin, and s.coups coming to my side of the stage the most. they were so cute always waving to fans are i practically walked out of the venue a jeonghan stan. ((( i’m joking vernon’s forever my number 1 but JEONGHAN GAVE SUCH GOOD FANSERVICE ))) s.coups was also a really eye-catching performer. the way he vibed during check in was out of this world I FELT SO BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT PERFORMED LIVE INSTEAD OF WATCHING 394839 FANCAMS OF CHECK IN PERFORMANCES AND ALSO during tock remix, there was this part in the choreo where they look up after vernon / seokmin’s part and the lighting in the venue shined down on the stage floor, coups looked completely like an anGEL and don’t even get me started on vernon because i felt like losin’ my goddamn mind whenever he appeared on the big screen i know i might sound biased but i think seventeen were the best performers out of attending artists;; they really engaged the whole audience, from having everyone chant 'seventeen' in unison before they even performed to having everyone do the mansae move with them during their random play dance / pinata time;; it was an amazing experience and it honestly felt like a mini seventeen concert LOL. i had to hop on a flight four or five hours after sunday's concert with barely any sleep;; my flight consisted of nothing but listening to the Al1 album OTL post-concert depression is already hitting me hard HAHA i really hope in the future i can see them at one of their tour stops one day ugh i love seventeen so much;;;;

Seventeen NY Hi Touch Experience

So I haven’t seen anyone really mention how hi touch went and a lot of carats I talked to afterwards went completely blank lol

Basically NY had to do hi touch before the concert bc the boys had a flight right after. After splitting the VVIP and VIP the VVIP were taken hours before to wait on the roof (no one knows why the roof was the place to be but oh well). VIP were let into the venue at 5 after getting stickers that said VIP on them. VIP were split into 3 lines to go through metal detectors and then split again into two lines for hi touch. One around the left of this counter where you had to turn the corner which looked shady tbh and the other line was just straight down from the table the boys were at.

So they checked off tickets and kinda pushed us along into line. I was ofc on the line where you had to turn the corner so I had to awkwardly cut into the line near the table. Got to see Minghao for .3 seconds longer though so not complaining 😛

A staff member was right next to them explaining that we high five, not grab and only right hand. Had to switch all my shit over to the left hand mad quick at that point lol. They all lined up with their hand out. So as for order as best as I can remember

Minghao: He is actually so fucking beautiful you guys. Like he glows and his skin is so tan. I swear I saw him and I was like shit. Those .5 seconds were instant death.

Jeonghan: He is also beautiful. And he has really nice skin. Order starts to get a little messy here bc I have no recollection of where Jun, Vernon, Hoshi, and Wonwoo were in positioning

Jun: He looked really tired tbh, but his features are mad prominent. One of the frequently mentioned visuals for a reason no lie.

Hoshi: He has the squishiest cheeks ever. And his smile is absolutely adorable. Looked so cheerful. I’m glad he recovered in time 😁

Vernon: ??? Tbh idr him at all like I was actually fully aware of everyone at that point and I wasn’t even that nervous. No idea what happened here 😓

Woozi: Ok I either high fived him twice or almost missed him and did it again lol. So as I was passing through the line I refused to look at their hands bc there was no way I wasn’t making the most of being inches away from those beautiful faces. I think I aimed and either missed or hit the edge of his palm. So I was like oh oops and redid the high five. For anyone who is curious Woozi is like 5'2" at best bc Istg I was looking down at him. I am like half an inch away from 5 feet and decided to wear three inch heels so I was a good 5'2.5".

DK: He said something to me but I didn’t really hear it properly. He could’ve been responding to the fact that as I passed by each member I said “why are they all so pretty” and when it was his turn I said pretty lol. Could have just been a polite boy saying thanks for coming though.

Wonwoo: Idr much about him. He looked tired, but otherwise he was just quiet.

Dino: He is up there as my bias so I just have to scream about him. Yo his skin he is also tanner than I expected. Those whitewashed fan pics really do not do them justice. But I straight up looked him in the face. Like kill me I can’t believe I was this close to his face 😭😭😭 I am still screaming. He’s so beautiful and he looks so good with blonde hair. We were eye level bc I wore heels 😭😭 Those blisters were worth that. God my overdramatic ass but I swear time froze at that moment. I think I stared at his face too long bc he nodded and looked lowkey confused.

S.Coups: Y'all this man is so goddamn extra. He took those 5 seconds of high touch and managed to make it extra lmk how and why. Corny as hell I’m telling you. So instead of just leaving his hand out to high five he whooshes up for a underhand high five and I’m telling you he made a whoosh noise while doing it. He basically high fived me instead of the other way around lmao Istg my face was the same as the white guy blinking meme. Seungcheol wyd

Seungkwan: He is the cutest little thing ever. He said hi so cheerfully to everyone in the line. I think I said hi back bc that’s my automatic response, but can’t really remember bc it was a rush near the end (really hope I did though). Kill me he is too precious for this world. And his smile was so genuine. Melting my heart ❤️

Joshua: Such a sweetheart. Said thanks for coming with that cute smile he does where his eyes kinda scrunch up. I feel so bad bc he got cut off mid sentence since it was a kinda long phrase. Has the voice of angel

Mingyu: He is tall af lmaoo. Even in my heels I didn’t see his face just his chest. Everyone else was at least sorta in eye range, it was just him. He said something in English but I didn’t get to hear it properly since I was rushed into the venue 😔

Overall I really enjoyed the chance to see the boys this close up and would love if they could do this again ❤️❤️This hi touch went a lot better than I expected. Not sure if it was bc it was 13 members and took longer so it didn’t feel as rushed or bc it wasn’t actually that rushed lol. Usually during hi touch you can’t even blink it it’ll happen without you realizing lmao. Concert was amazing and I might try to post some fancams (most are kinda an aerial view of the group or Dino focused lol) and talk more about the actual concert. I am so upset that hi touch didn’t happen after bc once they left it sunk it that it was the end. Post concert depression is starting to hit hard 😢

1. Would you travel alone around your country?

I think I would, I think I would enjoy myself. Having time to myself like that is one of my favorite things. I love getting lost in my own thoughts, traveling alone seems like it would be a good opportunity to do so. On the other hand maybe its not the best idea to get lost in your thoughts while traveling alone cause you know stranger danger and all 😅

2. You save the enough money to buy sth you’ve really really wanted for a long time (something small) but just when you were about to spend it you found out your fave group set a date to perform in your country and the ticket costs the same as that thing you wanted to buy…which one would you choose to buy?(Asking 'cause a couple of years ago I was TWO SECONDS away from buying a black widow costume until a band confirmed they were coming so yeah…I bought the concert ticket 😂💔)

Without a doubt I would buy the ticket, bands I like don't come to Minnesota very often. For example I recently bought tickets to see my favorite band in May, I saw they were coming here and without any hesitation I was like yep I gotta go! You can always save up money for material things but life experiences are harder to come by!

3. Are you a good at cooking?

Yes, thats what I do for a living! Ive pretty much been cooking since I could walk! 👩🏻‍🍳

4. In a zombie apocalypse, would you be a) someone who follows the rest b) someone who takes the lead c) a mix of both?

To be honest Im the type who likes to think/act like they are a leader but really my leadership skills are severely lacking hahaha. So when things would get tough Id just be like nah you guys got this Ill be over here lmk if y'all need anything ty ty. 🤣

5. If shit blew on earth which one of the following would you chose to save yourself? A ship/submarine like the one from the movie 2012 or the space ship from wall-e?

The space ship for sure. Deep sea is actually the scariest thing to me, just thinking about whats down in the ocean gives me the shivers. 🤢

As for a kpop song not sure if its really that underrated but Shinees 1of1 the mv doesn't even have 10 mil views why y'all sleeping on shinee these days? That song is the literal best bop also taemins dancing 🙌🏼

As far as just music in general ANYTHING BY THE SHINS (the group I’m seeing in may) They had like one popularish song in the early 2000s but they are so under appreciated these days its not even funny, I get it though they aren't everyones cup of tea but James Mercers voice is like pure molten honey. (September - The Shins)

8. You’re invited to three different parties made by the top 3 entertainment companies (sm, yg and jyp) where the only songs you’ll hear during the whole night are the songs made by their own artists, which party would you attend?

That is actually so difficult for me. First of jyp is automatically out of the picture, I really only listen to got7 as far as their groups go. But like Big Bang is one of my faves, but then there is Shinee which hurts me physically, and like winner is one of my favorite groups musically, but like Exo. GIRL GROUPS don't make me chose between Blackpink and Red Velvet MY QUEENS! If the groups are performing at said party that changes everything, if that was the case hands down SM. I love Big Bang/winner but the don't have the moves like Shinee/exo.

9. Your bias pulls a performance like this one and he brings you on stage…what would your reaction be?

First of all no, don't link me to shit like this. Its 4:30 in the morning here I don't need this!! Why?? Who do you think you are?? Kibum does things to me!!!! jk tysm ily 💜 Tbh I probably be a bit like wtf 🙃 then Id be like “ GET YOUR ISHH BOO BOOO” “DO YOUR THANG HUNNY!” Also Id dance along because Im never one to turn down a chance to look like a dumbass.

10. Do you have a pic with someone famous?

Not that I can think of! I've got plenty of pictures with my sister @min-yoongini tho, she's pretty cool! (gofollowher!)

11. If you were granted the possibility to take one group on a seven day vacation/break/time off schedule with the condition that it has to be broadcasted as a variety show later on…would you accept? If the answer is yess: which group would you take and what would you do w/ them? (Travel overseas, a city tour, a ski resort, a car trip, stay in the city etc)

I feel like my obvious answer here is seventeen, but Im gonna go with blackpink because they all seem so chill and nice! I dunno where we would go but some where with lots of history or something! Also no language barrier, so thats nice! Also girls are awesome so yeah all girl trip hell yeah!

My Wings Tour Experience - Admin M

So, Admin S and I went to see BTS in Newark last night. We weren't in the pit, we had seats, but we were still decently close to the extended stage (section 21). I can honestly say this was the best concert that I have ever been to in my entire life (and I'm old by tumblr standards y'all). I'm going to try and summarize some of my feelings and things I noticed in an effort to remember and emotionally decompress. Also, shoutout to all the wonderful people we met in line and around our seats!

First the members and their solos:

Namjoon:

Rap line all had hella extra intro VCRs?! But Namjoon's had a whale swimming across the screen which was a nice nod to Whalien 52 and worked well with Reflection. At the end when he says "I wish I could love myself" not only did the crowd chant back "we love you" but he changed the last one to "I wish we could love ourselves" and I got fucking emotional. The stage also rose in steps ending at the phone booth from the solo trailers, and Namjoon ended in it and Tae stepped out of it for Stigma (the solos went in the same order the trailers were released)

Jin:

Ok he had a four piece orchestra for his backtrack. You go child. His stage was a park and bark, so no real choreography or anything, but the stage did raise and lower when he sang "maybe I can't touch the sky" which was a nice poetic touch. He also had a really pretty back screen. I have a full version of this (you're welcome Admin An and Jess) that I'll try to post later.

Yoongi:

The only time there was silence was during first love. The only. Fucking. Time. I got chills. He also had a piano which was emotional, and a four piece orchestra as well (Yoongi why you gotta be so extra?) he was just so good live. I can't.

Hoseok:

Let me just tell y'all something: this boy is fucking radiant. He shines like the sun. Mama had the cutest choreography, and he managed a quick change on stage from a plain shirt to a shirt with a white jacket to pulling off the white jacket to have a black and silver blazer A+ good job. He also looked like he was about to cry during Mama and I think maybe because there was so much love for Hobi. Like, seriously, there were so many Jhope stans that seriously were the loudest. It made me smile.

Jimin:

Park Jimin fucking tests me. So, I tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible for this concert but I did see one where Jimin was blindfolded so I knew that was happening. Well, what I didn't know was that he put it on half-way. I wasn't ready. No one was ready. Also he gets lifted at the end and I swear to god Park Jimin is literally sin kakcksofkakkakfnsk. Anyways. I hate him. Moving on.

Taehyung:

Stigma was better live than recorded and I will fight you on this. As I mentioned earlier, he emerged from the phone booth after Namjoon entered, which was a cool effect. At the end during the "I'm sorry I'm sorry" parts he let the backtrack go on and did two hella high notes instead of just one and I just... damn that boy has range. Kim Taehyung needs more vocal lines.

Jungkook:

This little bias wrecking shit. He had a fuckboy dance to Begin. Also came out on a rotating turn table. Why is he so extra? But yes, the dance. It was actually a classy fuckboy dance, if that makes sense. It reminded me a lot of Rainism in style. Also I want his blazer. It was silver glitter ombré.

Second, groups and general things I noticed:

They started with Not Today which I wasn't ready for, no one was ready for

Bapsae is hype af live

The crowd was SO good

Like seriously, we were singing along to every song, even the Korean parts, and we may not have known every word but we faked it enough to where it sounded like we did.

The boys gave us the mic a lot, which was really heartwarming because to me it meant that they trusted us enough to know their songs and not fuck up their language. Min Yoongi gave us his mic for a full rap verse, the opening rap in Blood Sweat and Tears and I just... That took so much trust.

Vocal line was precious during Lost

Rap Line looked like fucking kings during Cypher Part Four. Seriously, they were all in these nice ass velvet jackets and looked great. Cypher was also hype af and everyone yelled along

Speaking of yelling, Kim Namjoon is precious and said he was sorry our vocal chords were going to be shot today (mine and Admin S's are, if y'all were wondering, oops)

At the end for the encore, some great fans organized for each section to have a colored bag and everyone put them over their light stick or phone and created a rainbow ocean. I'm sure y'all have seen the pictures by now, but it was seriously beautiful.

And Namjoon gave a speech about it, something along the lines of "it doesn't matter if you're red, yellow, blue, were all one rainbow army and we'll be together until the end" and I'm emotional

Jin stole a pink covered army bomb to use and basically lost his shit. He was jumping up and down he was so excited

Spring Day was beautiful

The boys looked emotional in the final goodbyes. Jungkook took out his in-ears and I'm pretty sure he cried (baby also got an iron man plush, bless). Tae put his head down for a long time and may or may not have cried. Yoongi, Jin, and Hoseok also looked very close to tears.

The boys said several times they couldn't believe we sold out the arena and there were this many people here

After the ending VCR it said thank you to our wings, army, and I was emotional.

They also had baby and trainee pictures in the ending VCR which was sweet.

Ok but the blazers they wore for Blood Sweat and Tears looked like the wardrobe people just gave up and went to Ann Taylor

Seriously, Jungkook’s looked like something my grandma would wear to a wedding

After the concert

So, Admin S and I were trying to find the uber zone and accidentally ended up in front of the fence where their vans were parked

It was hella dark but three or four of them came out and waved and did hearts and we got to yell thank you, which made me feel better (I really want to have the opportunity one day to thank them for making music and being themselves. Their music has given me so much more than I can explain). But then we got yelled off the fence by a lady that worked there which tbh was kinda rude because we were being very respectful. No one was pushing, trying to climb the fence, or yelling anything inappropriate. But anyways.

And then, when we were trying to find where our uber was picking us up, we got to where the vans were coming out and got to wave off the vans, which was nice. It was closure, in a way.

All in all, it was seriously the best night of my life and I am so grateful that I got to see them live. Thank you BTS. <3
