So I think Buddie should make out at Maddie and Chimney’s wedding. I want them to get down and dirty, pressed up against walls and half undressing, but then I want them to pretend it never happened.

I want them to try and go back to normal, to say it didn’t mean anything, but still they’re both pining, while Eddie is also dealing with struggles over his sexuality.

Then all the pining comes to a head and they can’t hold themselves back, they kiss again, they realize how in love they actually are, and their relationship begins.

I just think it would be neat.🧍🏼‍♀️

I keep thinking about all of the different analysis posts I could make about Solitaire, like Tori's struggle to accept the fact that those around her are real, the literary references, how Solitaire is meant to be the opposite of Pride and Prejudice, Tori being a slightly unreliable narrator, how she has changed over the years despite her believing otherwise, etc.. I just saw Something in the Wind for the first time (I bought a Deanna Durbin movie collection because it was the only way I could find a good DVD in the right region). Boy, they just don't make ridiculous movies like they used to. One crazy character on top of another. It's the best.

I really wasn't sure whether it was gonna end with the couples it ended with, or if it was gonna pull a Midsummer Night's Dream twist and have Mary end up with Charlie. They definitely had enough chemistry to go that route. But of course, Mary would've had to start liking Donald a lot sooner for the right effect.

Charlie is a delight of course. He's like a straight, 1940s Eric van der Woodsen who's better at scheming, and he totally stole the show.

Also, this is yet another movie in the Holy-Shit-Old-Movies-Were-So-Much-Better-At-Writing-Female-Characters category. Like, seriously, what happened?

So, I'm homeschooling my four children. And my fifth grader is bored with the workbooks I keep giving him. Which is reasonable. All of his siblings are getting these sweet handmade worksheets on colored paper that I've been tailoring to their needs.

He looked at a third grade workbook and asked why the books for fifth graders couldn't be full of art and puzzles and color by numbers assignments.

...I started thinking out loud about how I could make his homework interesting, and we sort of fed off of each other in a creative brainstorm, and ended up with the suggestion...

That I create a series of puzzles that must be solved using what he's learning about in class (arithmetic, basic algebra, fractions, spelling and grammar, reading comprehension, a bit of science...), write them on blank sheets of paper using lemon juice so that he has to heat his homework over a lightbulb before he can solve any of it, and hide most of it around the house in folders so that he must complete an assignment, decode the hidden message in it, and then find his next assignment in order to get through all of his work.

That's so much work! But it sounds like so much fun!
