I overdid it this weekend.

I have a really severe nerve issue in my leg that’s causing function loss, muscle loss, etc.

And I really overdid it. I spent a lot of time on my feet, prepping dinner and cleaning.

I now have such a sharp pain in my upper thigh and my entire muscle spasms and I can barely put weight on my leg. I can’t bend my leg at my knee and my partner has been having to help me get around.

I’ve been asked so many times in my life. “You have chronic pain? But we see you do things!” And it’s like… yeah because I have learned to live with the pain and have to or I’m pushing myself to do something and I pay for it severely later.

It’s important to remember that most people’s normal is a zero on the pain scale. For someone with chronic pain, a good day is usually a lower number on the pain scale. We learn to function with pain because we have to. It’s always there. And sometimes, we push ourselves too hard on the good days and end up paying for it.

Our pain is real, even if you can’t physically see us struggling all the time.

when i stopped seeing backgrounds as something separate from the subject of a drawing, an integrated part of the scene with character of its own, they really became much easier to draw almost immediately. as i’m writing this i wonder if this attitude towards my art contributed to the fascination with the physical world i have now, but at the same time i doubt i would have made that decision so easily if reverence wasn’t already there, in some capacity. it hurts me a little whenever i see people treat a background as something inconsequential or bothersome. i don’t know how people don’t see the Life outside of what we can easily communicate with. there is so much life in everything that you see. people and objects and places are just the same. i don’t know how everybody doesn’t feel it

What it’s like hugging some of my AU’s

Mutemare: He’d probably take a few moments to accept the hug but when he does, he’d have a quiet scratchy sounding purr, and he’d pull you in with his tentacles and wrap you up with them while hugging you…yeah, he’s good for hugs but he’s cold, feels kinda weird, and he won’t let you go until he’s had enough, even if you try get away. I mean, it was your mistake hugging him if you didn’t like it. He’d only let you get near enough to hug him if nobody else was around though. He has a reputation to keep!

Radiation: he feels very plush because of his coat! And because of his radiation, he feels very warm. He’d just hug you and let you go after a bit. He loves hugs but he’s not one to be majorly fussed with them. He’d be perfect for a cold winter day with his warmth. You may feel a little dizzy afterwards from being so close to a person literally made of radiation though-

Puppet: oh my god he’s tiny- you probably have to bend over to hug him. And even then he’d have to get on his tiptoes! He gets way over exited about the hug. Careful, he may bite if he gets too ,too exited. He’d also purr really loudly.Odd..his purr sounds like the mechanical whirring of an olden day wind up toy.

Wings: you can tell they don’t really…know what to do. They don’t feel emotion most the time, and have to fake it, but right now…they don’t know how to fake it. They kinda hug you back but you can tell they’re uncomfortable. They also wrap their wing around you. The feathers are SO soft, you could stay there forever. Oh- and they’re so tall. They can probably comfortably rest their chin on top of your head . They may come back to hug you later. It’s kinda obvious they’re just trying to practice how to deal with a hug.

Void: you’d phase right through him- no hugs for him. He’d be super sad though, and appreciates the attempt. He might go and wrap his arms around you. You can’t feel it, and neither can he, but ya know, the thought is there and that’s what counts, right?

Doubt: MAN this guy is cold- he’s like an ice pack! He’d just silently nuzzle into the hug and…he could probably fall asleep. In fact, he may ask you if he can sleep. He’d have such a quiet ,broken sounding purr, it’s kinda sad to hear. You’d also have to be very careful, it’s easy to hurt him by accident. I mean, he even feels fragile in your arms. Weird, he almost feels like he’s coated in a fine layer of dust.
