My stepfather, yesterday when we were yet again pushing for him to take as much hospice care as possible, stood over my mother’s bed and said, “IT IS MY DECISION.” I will give him credit, calmer than he usually is when he pulls his posturing controlling bullshit. To me this is his entire personality. I couldn’t breathe from the moment mom let him move in. I left as soon as I could. Honestly the only thing that has changed is that he has very little power over me. I want to look out for my brother if I can but my mother has actively chosen this repeatedly. The hurt that I can’t quite get rid of is why the hell she would choose this over me. This over literally anything else but I have to try to let go of that as well. There will be more care but not enough. If I have the energy I might try one more time to explain that they need as much assistance as possible so they don’t exhaust themselves before the actual emergencies. But I don’t know if I have anything else in me. Going back to Iowa cannot happen soon enough for me.

The best part about being as much of a wheatley fan as i am is that you collect a lot of interesting stories.

For example. Like a year ago i dyed my hair blue in the fall, because of wheatley. I had been using him as a pfp for a while and thought he represented me. Now here’s the funnier part. Being constantly assumed as male because of him as my pfp and just my general enjoyment of the character made me realize my gender identity was more masc than i thought. So i picked up she/he pronouns instead of she/her.

Wheatley. Yes, THE wheatley portal 2. Gave me blue hair and pronouns, and i will NEVER get over how funny that is

Now here i am today, using a xenogender label i created with a flag inspired by him. And i still have blue hair.

He also started my robot obsession. If not for him i’d have never gotten my current raging WALL-E hyperfixation. I’d have missed out on a lot of things i enjoy today because robots are a sizable part of my thoughts.

So um. Thanks valve. Your stupid blue sphere is the sole reason behind many choices i’ve made in my life that led me to who i am today.

thinking about this guy who showed up in the comments of ozy’s substack when they used him as an example of someone whose mindset they struggled to get inside. they were a lot more charitable than he deserved tbh given that his main schtick seemed to be an actual complete total inability to not typical-mind.
