Hi, i'm a newish bl drama watcher from thailand that just started watching thai bls. i'm a bit ashamed to say that for a long time as a gay man living here i've been avoiding bl shows like the plague cuz of both the fandom reputation and of misconception from my yaoi era which i leave far behind. i'm just want to ask how did you got into watching thai bls and what were you preconception before you got into it.
Welcome to the Tumblr side of BL fandom. I'd actually like to also hear more of your experience with yaoi and BL as a gay person growing up in Thailand if you're willing to share.
For me, I'm a Black American from the Gulf Coast (the South). I grew up in a Catholic city and spent my entire adolescence in the closet. Despite having a sense of who I was as early as 8 years old, I kept most of that to myself. Because I didn't talk about it much with people, I found out most information about queer media and queerness from the internet.
Tumblr media
I entered BL via queer cinema. I think the first explicitly gay character that I remember from TV was Marco from Degrassi: The Next Generation. There were probably others, and definitely more subtle expressions, but when I think about the oldest gay character I remember and connect to, it's Marco. I don't like counting things like shipping Shawn and Corey on Boy Meets World or Tai and Matt on Digimon for oldest gay characters. Sailor Moon can't even count because we got a censored version of it in America.
Tumblr media
I got access to satellite television away from observing eyes around age 16 and started watching content on Logo back when they aired gay content regularly. I watched basically whatever I could late at night. It's how I saw movies like Get Real (1998), Beautiful Thing (1996), and Bent (1997). It's also how I saw Queer as Folk (2000-2005) Noah's Arc (2005-06).
Tumblr media
After hitting adulthood I mostly got lost in video games and standard American TV for a while, but I did basically show up to any Gay Event in TV. I appreciate that Stef and Lena from The Fosters (2013-2018) were some of the only TV lesbians to survive the horror of 2016.
Tumblr media
I watched a bunch of movies in this time, many of which appear on the Queer Cinema Syllabus I made for a hypothetical Westerner new to BL and queer cinema, which @wen-kexing-apologist has decided to try to complete.
Tumblr media
I got into Thai BL in 2018 accidentally. I started seeing gifsets of Kongpob telling Arthit he'll make him his wife passing around Tumblr and was basically like, "Right, what's all this then?"
Tumblr media
I had watched a few Thai gay films, mostly notably Love of Siam (2007), Bangkok Love Story (2007), How to Win at Checkers Every Time (2015), and The Blue Hour (2015), but this was the first time I was seeing a long series made available so easily from any Asian country.
Tumblr media
From there I got into Make It Right (2016-17) and Love Sick the series (2014). Once I realized that yaoi had moved beyond manga and a few anime adaptations, I went looking for a lot more. I basically haven't left since I started in about 2016 with SOTUS.
There's my basic entry into the genre. I don't think I was as worried about fandom and worries at the time because so much of being a fan of queer cinema was a mostly-private experience for me for so long. I didn't realize that BL fans active in the space would predominantly be women or queers figuring themselves out. It took a while to adjust to that, and also to adjust my expectations of the kinds of queer stories BL distributors were willing to fund.
Tumblr media
That being said, I tend to agree with @absolutebl that BL has a useful role in normalization for non-queer audiences who encounter it. I like cheering BL when it does things I think work really well, and also deriding it when I think it does things that are offensive to help nudge the genre and offer my perspective as a gay man.
Tumblr media
I like the place we're at right now where there's way too much to watch for any person with other hobbies and responsibilities because it means that people can pick and choose what's to their tastes.
Tumblr media
More often than not, I'm probably most-invested in something airing from Japan because of my melancholy nature, but there's so much variety these days that it's okay if you don't like everything. I certainly don't!
I'm glad you joined us on Tumblr and look forward to your thoughts!

I’m sure people might already know about this but if you don’t
The Epoch Times is releasing an anti-trans film called Gender Transformation: The Untold Realities.
Tumblr media
Now maybe if you’re not already familiar with right-wing dogwhistles about transphobia so this might not mean a lot to you. After all, the Epoch Times website declares itself to have been rated “Most Neutral” among top media in a survey by AllSides.
It is NOT. It is not only far-right, but it is also heavily affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.
Now you might also not know what Falun Gong is. Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) is a Chinese new religious movement, and it is sometimes regarded as a cult. Although Falun Gong members are heavily persecuted in China, it is not a mere little spiritual practice that the Big Bad CCP doesn’t like. Falun Gong’s two major outreach organizations are the Shen Yun Chinese dance show (YES. That Chinese dance show that you see posters and ads for everywhere if you live in the contiguous US like me) and the Epoch Times. They are how Falun Gong spreads awareness to their existence and teachings to wider audiences, especially audiences outside China.
(As a side note, if you click on the Wikipedia link for Falun Gong, you’ll see their flag. The flag has a few images of swastikas but they are NOT the Nazi swastikas. The symbol of the swastika has had positive meaning in Asian religions/spirituality for CENTURIES before Hitler co-opted it and turned it into a hate symbol. I just wanted to clarify that because it’s not like Falun Gong was like, obviously branding themselves as terrible by having a symbol that’s associated with Nazis on their flag. As someone living in the west who has primarily only seen this symbol as a symbol of hate, that’s not the meaning that it has in this context, and I understand it can be jarring suddenly just seeing it in this context.)
Anyway. Through the Epoch Times, Falun Gong has shown support for Donald Trump and is widely popular among far-right and conspiracy groups. This is another Matt Walsh “What is a Woman” situation with them trying to prove that being trans is hurting people by bringing in “experts” and people who have detransitioned.
For the record, stories from people who detransitioned or are considering or have considered de transitioning are valid. But all these anti-trans documentaries want to use their stories as a “See??? These kids were swayed by the evil trans people who wanted them to do irreversible damage to their bodies, and they want that for you and your kids too!!”
Do not let them use your stories. They do not care about you. And the people in the queer community who also said they don’t care about you or say that you’re invalid are WRONG. YOUR STORY MATTERS. DO NOT give it to someone who will use it not only against you, but against other people to spread fear and hate.
Raise hell about this movie. Everybody. I’m questionably cis and I’m tired of seeing this shit. I’m sure all of you feel the same way.
And as another note: I got recommended an ad for this on YouTube on a video about unnecessarily gendered products. They know who they’re trying to target with these ads. They’re trying to scare us so much into accepting violence and hatred against trans people. Do not let them do this. Do not let YouTube recommend you these ads.

I've always kinda wondered, do you know why AFTG fandom has leaned so hard into Neil being ginger when I don't think he is canonically? Like, I wouldn't say auburn = ginger, especially not the neon orange a lot of fanart has. He even describes his natural hair color as a shade of brown — "Neil had dyed his hair brown from time to time, but never this shade [...] This was his natural color[...]" (TRK, CH 16) etc. Like, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter at all lmao but I read the books before I saw any fanart, so I was surprised when I saw Neil looking like a Weasley lol.
Okay so I will preface this by saying that I am not someone who has strong feelings about the Neil Josten Auburn vs Ginger "discourse" that occasionally pops up. When I was younger, and my hair was longer, and I actually saw sunlight on a semi-regular basis - my hair was described as auburn so when I pictured Neil I pictured him with dark reddish-brown hair that was "reddish" in the sense that it was warm and had that red-glow in the sunlight but at a glance would definitely be described as "brown".
Coming onto tumblr and seeing fanart with him with red red and/or ginger looks was mildly surprising but I liked the combo of red hair & blue eyes so it didn't really faze me.
But you asked *why* and I thought about it, and well, here's how I think it happened:
First, know that unless you have auburn hair or know someone who you've heard describe their hair as auburn - and it's distinctly brown - you probably only have a vague idea of what "auburn" means. Red-brown is kind of vague when you think about it. Just think of all the different wood stains in the red-brown category! There's like 50!
And when you Google auburn hair, this is pretty much what you get:
Tumblr media
Which definitely implies that "auburn" is "dark red" rather than "reddish-brown".
Once you have it in your head that auburn is a classification of "dark red" it's incredibly easy for creative license and interpretation to open that up into "red hair". From which the leaning will be toward "ginger" as that's a very popular aesthetic in fiction. A lot of people think ginger when being told a character has red hair, despite there being a lot of different shades of red hair that wouldn't necessarily be considered "ginger". And yes, a part of this is probably because when you think of redheads in pop culture, you get characters (like the Weasleys) who are ginger and are described by the more broad classification of having red hair/as redheads.
And so, even if you KNOW people with red hair who aren't gingers, or with auburn hair who aren't redheads, the association between "hair with red in it" to "ginger" becomes pretty easy and commonplace.
At least, this is my interpretation. Fanlore likes bandwagons, so maybe an artist once went "Oh but I like the combo of ginger/redhead with blue eyes let's do that for Neil" and people liked it and so it stuck *shrug* I only joined this fandom in 2020 so I couldn't tell you exactly how it started.
Either way, I think it's cool to see the different ways people interpret the characters. The fandom has kind of universally decided that Dan & Matt are Black and Renee is often drawn as being Asian, which is really cool. Also, the incredible variety of interpretation of the Minyards. Sometimes they're twinks, sometimes they're stocky lil boulder men. Curly hair, straight hair, every shade of blond imaginable. There isn't really a consensus when it comes to them like there is with many of the other characters.
We all just love them so much, and so when we write or draw them, we imbue more of what we like/love into the designs. That's kind of the beauty of fanworks. You can take something you already like and then add more of what you like to it! And then share it with other people who like it too!!
Anyway, I'm gonna stop here before I go on an extended rant about how much I love fanfiction as a Thing. Hope that helped answer your question!
xoxo - Will

A reporter of Chinese descent is speaking out, weeks after Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen dismissed her article on his company, Pillen Family Farms, because “the author is from Communist China.”
Yanqi Xu, 27, who is an immigrant from China and reports for the independent outlet Flatwater Free Press, told NBC News that Pillen's comments were a form of “bias.” Pillen, a Republican, had made the remarks on Omaha radio station KFAB in September, after he was asked to respond to her article that found high levels of nitrate on his hog farms.
“Number 1, I didn’t read it. And I won’t,” Pillen said on the air about Xu’s article. “Number 2, all you got to do is look at the author. The author is from Communist China. What more do you need to know?”
This week — with Xu’s blessing and after consulting with immigration lawyers to ensure her visa status wouldn’t be compromised — Matt Wynn, executive director of the Nebraska Journalism Trust, which launched the Flatwater Free Press, published a column in her defense.
“Yanqi has been in the United States since 2017. … This, she said, is the first time anyone has written her off based on her origin. And it was broadcast, over the air, by the governor of Nebraska,” Wynn wrote. “As an employer, that infuriates me. As a believer in democracy and a free press, it saddens me. As a Nebraskan, it embarrasses me.”
Pillen’s office did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
Xu, who said she was grateful that her employer stood with her, added that Pillen's words potentially fit into a narrative of “othering people of Chinese descent.”
“I’m still trying to wrap my head around this," she said. "I can definitely see the bias there.”
While she needed time to digest the comments, she said that as a journalist, she wanted to speak out to hold the governor accountable.
“I think it’s important to speak up and it can be really, really hard at first because in some ways, it made you the center of the story,” Xu said. “Especially as a woman of color, if the other person who made such a comment about you is the most powerful person in the state, how do you respond? But I think for me, I found myself coming back to this point of: If I don’t do it, who would?”
The Asian American Journalists Association also released a statement on Wednesday, supporting Xu.
“The Asian American Journalists Association stands with Yanqi Xu, the Flatwater Free Press journalist who was the target of remarks that attempted to dismiss her reporting because of her country of origin,” the statement read. “Having an independent and diverse press corps is essential to democracy, and Xu, an investigative reporter who grew up in China, deserves to do her job without being judged because of her nationality.”
And Rep. Judy Chu, chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, condemned Pillen, describing his remarks as a "baseless xenophobic attack." She called on him to apologize to Xu and her outlet.
"Failing to do so only contributes to more hostility and suspicion of people from China and Asian Americans broadly,” Chu, D-Calif., said.

Hbomberguy has unfortunately taught me that if I find myself really not gelling with someone it's probably because they're a shitty person.
Like I'm no Cassandra but all this time I remember I would just watch his videos and think "hmmm yeah, I can place my finger on it but I don't like the way he talks about these things." And then I ignored it because I thought I was just going out of my comfort zone.
I can't remember everything I beefed on him with but I definitely hated when he started to take on anime or Asian media. Overall I just think a lot of times westerners tend to assume their values and ways issues are dealt with are universal and he was just another lukewarm dive into the medium. Like its personal to me but I still stand by that Yuri on Ice isn't gay in the sense it isn't made for gay people, it's voyeuristic and pairing stories of incestuous feelings within it's short run time was a horrible choice they could have skipped. It comes to mind because I think he brought it up in one of his recent videos (I've been bedridden all week so my watch later queque has been playing on in the bg between lucidity) and it ticked me off. I hate the way he was dismissive of Heart Stopper for being twee and the whole rant about how it's not just him but other gay men too who think this! Honestly! For real guys! And for minutes I was just there like Alice Oseman is aroace! When he finally gets there it became infuriating how he diminished it's importance. Authors are allowed to let their experience effect their writing! She's not responsible to cater to you. The beauty of Heartstopper is it's release has lived through a rapid change in lgbtq acceptance and is the perfect opportunity to show that romantic and sexual inclination also exist on a sliding scale because that's something we are now widely teaching!! To write modern teen characters, you have to empathize with modern teens. They're not you!! Which is mostly good given the history of our community. It's good to get to see queer teen boys take it maybe infuriatingly slow because they don't have to be pressured for more.
James to me was always just a bit pessimistic and not really good at empathizing which given how much he stole makes sense why what he said and how he acted just felt off. It makes sense when everyone else in "breadtube" started promoting each other's works how it never seemed to happen with him. I don't remember him saying he was the only person really doing this but that's fucking bizarre to hear when the list of people who does what he pretended to was endless. Before I even watched the whole video I already brought up Matt Baume who like Hbomberguy said feels the exact opposite to James. Matt talks forward about progress, genuinely made me realize how we were always here, and the path lead forward to us getting there. Maybe it's not great to admit but there's YouTubers I watch that I know I have to psych myself up to watch, sometimes I don't like their running joke, sometimes they talk too fast multitasking, sometimes they have a habit that gets to me and I just need mental prep. James was like, "sigh here we go" that you'd feel before you were about to talk with that one friend who makes every convo abrasive and combative, I'm coming out a little annoyed and tired by the end of it. With Matt I remember it being a case of getting ready to sit down to hear a part of obscure history knowledge from that one friend who reads a book every two days. Possibly the biggest difference between the two is how much you believe Matt is committed to the material he's making because 1. It also focuses on sitcoms and old Hollywood queerness hence an well carved niche 2. It isn't as easy to churn out material. I've heard a million videos on owl house's queerness or Sherlock queer baiting but fuck all did I ever know how Tab Hunter was. There were so many "weird little funny guy" actors that I could make assumptions were gay but Matt actually gave me their stories and has made my heart cry for how hard they had it even thought I always could have figured that. And maybe that's what sucked, James as a queer man just never seemed to emotionally resonate.
Fuck, man I'm just rambling with all of this but the sheer validation of feeling off all these years paying of is wonderful. I don't really want to celebrate his downfall to much, not worth the energy, and I don't want to put another YouTuber on a pedestal because we have a bad habit of doing that only to have things turn out wrong. The thing is I watched illuminauti and Internet historian too but in the same way where I knew I was getting junk food. I wasn't looking for anything fancy and their sections did not surprise me and if anything maybe just make me feel embarrassed how comfortable I am eating badly made media. But god maybe worse is how happy I am to have someone tell me that it's alright that I don't like one gay dudes well produced videos.

I saw someone post some responses Matt gave to recent fan questions about Amphibia, and one that stood out to me was his answer to why Anne didn’t have the breakdown fans expected/wanted in S3. He said that growing up Asian, he experienced having to push through stuff no matter what, and this guided the writing of Anne as focusing on immediate tasks in front of her rather than her own trauma.
ok that’s so real i totally get that, but also it’s just a matter of maintaining the narrative momentum. like yeah anne is the kind of person who doesn’t address her issues and anxieties head on and will only discuss her negative feelings with others if pushed, but also like. it’s a sitcom. if people really thought the entire tone and structure and perspective of the show would change drastically after the s2 finale just because it was good and shocking, they don’t seem to understand how tv works. sasha also tried to kill herself in the s1 finale and anne barely thinks about it at all. she keeps moving forward, because that’s how she was raised, that’s the kind of person she is, that’s the kind of show this is, etc.

I started to type all of this on the night of my show but literally passed out in the middle, cuz I had been up for 23 hours at that point! Today was my flight back home. It feels surreal that I saw him just day before yesterday (yesterday for me if you account for all the time zone differences) and now I’m back in my bed thousands of miles away 😭 Literally feels like a fever dream! To get to the point though (and you know this is about to get insanely long cuz who am I if not a rambler?)
First and foremost HE IS NEVER EVER BEATING THE SUN ALLEGATIONS!!! I had been in Istanbul for a week before the show day, and the weather had been cool and cloudy and it had even rained on and off, come concert day the SUN came out in full force!!! It was the sunniest it had been all week! He literally just carries the sunshine with him 😭
About the show itself; OMG!!! I have watched every single livestream from Dallas to Mexico City n3 but nothing could have prepared me for Louis in real life. Seeing him with my own two eyes makes him even more unreal if that’s possible. He’s literally impossibly beautiful. He radiates. He’s everything! HIS VOICE. It’s so pretty 😭 it’s wind chimes on a sea side resort, it’s hummingbirds in a serene jungle, it’s gritty when it needs to be and soft when it needs to be and I just… I’m speechless but I also want to write multiple essays on the topic! If only I was eloquent enough! Livestreams truly cannot capture the real quality of it, even though he sounds so beautiful on those too, but in person it’s just, there’s this quality to it, like dripping honey and so effortlessly cool.
God he was so happy and babie!!! Ngl I was hoping I’d get a slutty Louis show but OMG he was so so so happy and babie and cheeky! And he looked so good I can’t even explain. I absolutely loved the top he wore for the show! 😍 he had the most beautiful wispy hair situation going on, his skin looked so unreal and beautiful, his tattoos in real life 😭😭😭 His bone structure!!! How is that even possible?!? The royal peach?!? EXCUSE ME SIR! With that waist, and the way he holds himself! And moves his delicate hands and pops that hip sometimes. His smile!!! It lit up the entire place!!! HIS EYES!!! like they literally sparkle like actual gems 😭 I just could go on and on and on times infinity!
It took me about 4 songs to notice that Matt wasn’t even there cuz I couldn’t peel my eyes away from Louis. (I may have peeled them away for a few seconds to oggle at Michael though - GOOD GOD. That man is hot! I have some Michael content to post too!)
And I know that so many people have already mentioned this fact before but omg his stage presence. He owns the entire space. There were tens of thousands of people there, and the crowd was insanely rowdy but the second he hits that stage - he commands every iota of your attention. The way he prowls the entire stage, at times bunny hopping, and makes sure to go to every corner, and interact with every section! Mr. Pointy Fingers as always, pointing at signs, flipping people off, being his cheeky adorable self! It was an EXPERIENCE™ seeing it all live 😭 I will never forget, I want it all tattooed on the inside of eyelids! And I truly hope that every single louie gets to experience it for themselves!
Seems like he’s gonna stick to the San Juan set list for the Asian leg. (I tried to include my track by track rambling on the show in this post but tumblr said I dont think so cuz apparently I exceeded the word limit allowed for one post 🫣 so I guess I’ll make a separate post for that even if just for myself. Cuz I want to remember it all)!
TRULY AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME. And I’m so glad that I got to share it with other solos 🤍 So glad to have met both of you in person Max & Vee! @fearlesspuff @sunshinebinx and so so thankful to have had you there throughout the waiting line torture and the gate entrance madness and then the after show freaking out! Hope we can attend future Louis concerts together some day too! x

It’s been two weeks so let me get this off my chest;
Why the fuck did they include Maggie in All In. Why did they include the racist white girl whose only purpose is to be racist towards Anne. For a show that’s mean to uplift Thai people and make them feel comfortable in their own skin by telling their story, it’s EXTREMELY tone-deaf.
And for what?! Because I guess Maggie is ‘popular’ amongst people who completely missed the point and the writers wanted to reward that? They STILL had Maggie get Anne’s name wrong, too! Matt Braly why the fuck did you allow this. Why did you let this happen and have Maggie STILL get Anne’s name wrong; Something clearly meant to be seen as a racist move. This show is meant to make Thai, as well as asian kids in general, feel welcome.
It’d be one thing if Maggie was an actual fleshed out character who unlearned her prejudices and truly apologized, who had other aspects to her character besides being racist. But she’s not. She literally had no personality nor role beyond bigotry, and fans latched onto that for same damn reason and I GUESS the crew rewarded that antithetical type of move that goes against the very show’s message. Hell they even reinforced it because I guess Maggie calling Anne “Boobchuy” isn’t meant to be viewed as negatively anymore; It’s not a funny quirky detail it’s blatant racism, or was at least HEAVILY IMPLIED to be, which I then question the decision to reframe Maggie’s misnaming by All In.
I also find it questionable how our protagonist of color ‘gains the approval’ of her racist bully by saving the world, because it reminds me too much of centrist morals where minorities and the oppressed have to justify their reason for existing to their oppressors. Maggie’s fans don’t have to worry about being called out over her character’s racism because she suddenly likes Anne now, they’re validated because the racist white girl fans have been thrown a racist white girl bone by the crew, Maggie is less problematic now!
In interviews, Matt made a BIG deal about the alienation aspect of being Thai in America, and Anne learning to appreciate what her parents struggled with after being the only human in Wartwood. There was the implication that Anne didn’t recognize Maggie’s racism as such, and it’s by Season 3 when Anne finally listens to her mother’s discussion of being Thai in an unfamiliar world, that she really understands.
Maggie’s stupid-ass cameo just feels like an appeal to the lowest common denominator, a legit betrayal of the show’s message that is meant to combat such xenophobia by celebrating Thai heritage, and I hate it. Matt said he was baffled by Maggie’s popularity and I felt bad for him because I thought he clearly had stronger words than that but didn’t want to come across as ‘mean’, but then he allows this to happen?! Did his own crew somehow override Matt on this already tasteless cameo made even worse by its execution or what!? What kind of message does this send?

Not-Weekend WIP - Ask Game
Rules: List your WIPs below (if you only write one fic at a time, feel free to include future WIPs/ideas!) then answer the following questions. Then, tag as many people as you have WIPs (or more).
*******
I was tagged weeks ago by @bitbybitwrites!
*****
1. WIP List
I have too many WIPs to count, but I am using the ones that I am """actively""" working on right now, which are
Just Some Guy (the Matty Chris D. story)
The Klaine Secret Santa story
A fic where Bitty pranks Jack by pretending he can't skate
This fleeting idea for my Klaine Advent fic which isn't set in stone at all.
The good ole "racism fic", aka Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling, which is about me exploring how Asian-American identity was handled on Glee.
2. Which of your WIPs is currently the longest?
Probably Just Some Guy. I've been working on it for a while. It already has multiple finished chapters, so I have considered posting what I already have, also to hopefully motivate to continue. But I am just too stuck on it. The whole point is that MCD is the most bland person ever, and yes, I notice. He has nothing going for him.
3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?
If my idea for the Advent fic will work out, then I think that one, because I am planning a multichapter fic. It's just... not working out and it's almost December. Oh boy.
4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?
Right now? The Klaine Secret Santa fic, but I will not go into why, because ya know, the whole secret thing.
5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?
Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling. It's a heavy subject and I am only one (1) person and I don't want to sound like I am writing a fic for the whole Asian Gleek community or anything, but it is... something.
6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?
Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling, for the reason mentioned above.
7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?
I have mentioned that the stuff that I am writing about for Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling is based on my own experiences, but also on experiences of other Asian people, Gleeks and non-Gleek. Does that count? And yet I am still afraid I will make it too me-centric.
8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?
MATT
CHRISTOPHER
DAVID
HAS BEEN IN THE WIP HOSPITAL THE LONGEST OF THESE.
9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?
All my fave OCs have published stories, hehehe, so guess it's once again Matty Chris D. Really, he has nothing going for him. He's the most basic person ever. He's besties with Check, Please!'s John Johnson. He's part of chess club.
10. Which WIP is the sexiest?
None.
11. Which WIP is the angstiest?
Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling, cause, you know, racism. And if my Advent fic works out, then there will be some internalised homophobia in there.
12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)?
Maybe not the best, but the idea of Just Some Guy is that it's the canon Snowbaz story from an outsider POV so I am very interested in showing how Matt sees these two fuckers.
13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?
Honestly, none. It's just basic New York, Samwell, Ohio, Watford, etc.
14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?
I've been working on Dancin' on this bamboo ceiling on and off since 2017, so that one.
15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?
The Klaine Secret Santa fic, because I hope the giftee will like it.
16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?
Yes... which... oh dang... does "unreleased Paradiso stuff" count as a WIP then?
17. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other fics don't?
Everyone is (mostly) cutesy and fluffy........ and then there's Dancin' on that bamboo ceiling.
18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour?
I think the whole idea of Just Some Guy is just very funny. Like... John Johnson is here. Why is he here?
19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH MATTY CHRIS D!!!!! I am enjoying it a lot, but again, giving MCD a story for himself is just hard because he's not an interesting person.
20. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs.
The Advent fic idea is a sequel.

Ooh what's so fucked up about porcelain dolls. What are their design origins. Tell me everything
Okay so to begin, we need to look at what they're made of and why. Porcelain dolls were originally called Bisque Dolls because they were made out of Bisque, which is a soft and matte Porcelain. Though the dolls are not entirely made out of Bisque because it is a particularly fragile type of porcelain due to being unglazed. The head, feet, and hands are the only porcelain parts of a porcelain doll, the rest is made of wood, plush, or stiff fabric like leather and canvas. But WHY they're made out of bisque despite it's fragility is interesting, because Bisque dolls were a trend that was modeled after "China Dolls" which were made out of a glazed Porcelain, and were therefore glossy and 'unrealistic'. Bisque, with its smooth but natural texture, was considered to be more like human skin, so they began to use that instead.
But moving back to the origins of their design, let's return to the "China Dolls" I mentioned before. China Dolls (and therefore bisque dolls) have their origins in the 1840s of Europe, and later became manufactured on a larger scale in the 1860s primarily in France if you consider their outfits and typical hairstyles. China Dolls began as commission work for artisans, and were created to look very similar to the children and wives of noble or wealthy families. It is thought that the idea of this identical appearance comes from Matryoshka Dolls and traditional asian painted opera dolls (of which the name I can't find or remember, sorry) which were also painted after individuals and thus served as a form of portraiture. Matryoshka dolls, or nesting dolls, represent a mother carrying her children in her heart everywhere she goes. Other painted dolls originating from Asia are thought to have a more superstitious purpose, which is to give dead souls a resting place. Some dolls could be made after the dead, and thus house their soul.
Which brings us back to Bisque Dolls. China Dolls grew out of favor because of their glossy and unrealistic appearance, and so manufacturers found a porcelain that more closely resembled human skin, and continued to model the dolls after specific people (mostly their future owners). As manufacturing picked up with the doll's growing popularity, Bisque dolls became popularly known as "Fashion Dolls" because they modeled the current trends of adult women. Over time, the public favored a child-like appearance as opposed to that of adult women, and so the dolls were modeled after children. By this time the dolls became popular overseas in more western countries like America, which is why we have them here. When horror films entered the pop culture of America, the superstitious origins of painted dolls and the European-Catholic methods of exorcism joined hands and we were greeted with stories like Annabelle and Doll Island. Bisque dolls then became an object of discomfort and fear, being considered unnerving for their realism.

Some other frog fandom trends I've noticed:
-You mentioned how people sand away or dismiss Anne's flaws, but even many people who do fully acknowledge Anne's flaws tend to end their acknowledgement with "which she no doubt picked up from Sasha", implying that all of Anne's flaws she has to grow out of are solely Sasha being a bad influence on her, even though the show itself never says this (and even people who speculate how Sasha's flaws come from her parents divorce don't use this to disconnect her from her flaws the same way its done with Anne, i.e. Sasha's seen as more one worthy of being regarded with complexity, even by people who hate her).
-It also seems most of the fandom takes Sasha being more muscular and stronger than Anne as an excuse to forget that Anne is an athletic jock who can keep up with Sasha in every other physical field without any issue. I note this b/c as people use this to portray Sasha as super-masculine, they at the same time portray Anne correspondingly as super-feminine in ways that seem really dismissive rather than true to her character, and these two portrayals then bleed through into a lot of Sashanne fan art I've seen. I love buff Sasha, but the way some portrayed Anne in regards to this always felt weird to me.
-Relatedly, all of Sasha's feminine traits being ignored is usually associated with Anne's feminine traits being over-emphasized, and masculine traits ignored, to provide a contrast in fan art between the two.
-When Matt did an interview going over the finale, and how Anne and Marcy represented his goal of providing a more multi-faceted depiction and rejection of stereotypes for Asian people, both in real life and in fiction, the reaction of most fans was to ignore this and focus only on a gag question asking Matt about a joke in a S1 episode, that the fandom complains about being the worst episode -"Cracking Mrs Croaker"-, to proclaim that Anne was now canonically shippable with Sasha or Marcy.
-While people complain about Marcy not being mentioned enough in S3, they tend to complain way more about it for Anne than for Sasha. The implication for the fandom for some reason seems to be that its acceptable for Sasha to not want to confront what happened to Marcy, but for Anne its inexcusable, b/c, even disregarding the fact its a kids show, trying to avoid a breakdown over traumatic events means she's being written as a sociopath, apparently.
...Okay I promise I'll get to the rest of what you wrote in a moment but I have to call a big ole pause to go get my eyes checked because they're telling me that you just wrote that Amphibia fandom thinks "Cracking Mrs. Croaker" is a bad episode but that can't actually be true...right??? Please tell me you were joking because that can't POSSIBLY be a widespread opinion that people have. That's one of the BEST S1 episodes. It's got MRS. CROAKER in it aka THE BEST FROG CHARACTER. Hello???
I'll move on to your other points now but frankly if that's true then that is the biggest strike against Amphibia fandom yet. What the hell, guys. How is your taste that bad. (And if it's not true, then that was a very cruel practical joke to play on me, anon!)
Anyway, addressing each point individually:
ANNE, SASHA, & FLAWS
Yeah, now that you mention it, I've seen people attributing Anne's flaws to Sasha that way. Perhaps most bafflingly, I recently saw someone attributing Anne's behavior in "Girl Time" to Sasha's influence, saying that clearly Sasha must have forced Anne to enjoy girly things and that's why Anne was pushing girly things on Polly. (I guess they didn't get the masc!Sasha memo the rest of the fandom did lol.) What's extra ridiculous about this is that they apparently never considered that societal forces exist beyond Sasha "The Most Evil Girl In All The World" Waybright and that maybe, just maybe, the reason Anne acts like a sexist jerk in that episode is not because her best friend controls her every thought like some sort of mind-puppet, but because she has grown up in a deeply sexist world that reinforces sexist messages at every level and she has never properly been challenged to rethink any of these ideas she's absorbed and she certainly hasn't bothered to reexamine them on her own.
So again there's a refusal to engage with Anne's complexity. She is reduced to a victim, an empty vessel for other people to pour negative traits into. But I don't know that I agree with you that people are willing to afford complexity to Sasha either. It seems to me this reading generally flattens their dynamic as a whole and simplifies them into Anne the poor put-upon good person who has been led astray by the machinations of Sasha the evil toxic bad person who just sucks. Neither are granted the space to be full people. Which is a shame because part of the magic of Amphibia is that the characters are so well-drawn and do feel like full people.
SASHANNE, MASCULINITY, & FEMININITY
Yeah, Anne is someone who strikes me as having both 'masculine' and 'feminine' aspects of her gender presentation. On the one hand you have episodes like the aforementioned "Girl Time" which shows that she does clearly enjoy 'girly' activities and outfits, but she's also been shown to be a jock like you said and sometimes she dresses more 'masculine', like her suit from "Anne of the Year". Sasha on the other hand, while muscular and skilled in combat, is pretty strictly feminine and even the sport she's into is cheerleading which is considered classically 'girly'. I think fandom often conflates 'muscular' with 'masculine' or 'butch' which is...problematic to say the least. (Throwback to the days of She-Ra fandom when people insisted on describing Scorpia of all people as 'butch'. *shudders*)
MATT'S INTERVIEW
I think I know the interview you're talking about! So I'll say a couple things about this. The first thing is that I've seen an odd trend crop up in some fandoms lately, particularly children's cartoon fandoms, of fans feeling like they need the creator(s) to validate their headcanons in interviews and other extra-textual material. Not just wanting that kind of validation, mind you, but feeling like they need it in order to keep having that headcanon. For instance -- I don't always keep up with Owl House-related interviews and BTS stuff because, well, I just don't care as much about that show lol, but I know that lately Dana gave an interview where she basically said that the only thing that's canon is what's in the show and that her headcanons are just that, headcanons, and a lot of people for some reason were, like, taken aback by that? And I just don't understand that reaction at all, like...of course only the text itself is canon! Of course the creators' opinions are just their opinions!
So in the case of Matt's interview, I reacted to his statement about Anne finding Mrs. Croaker hot with a nod and smile and then moved on. Because to me...sure it's nice to know that was his intention, but also, with all due respect to Matt, I don't really care if he intentionally made Anne sapphic or not. I don't give that kind of weight to creators' statements. She reads as a lesbian to me, so to me, she's a lesbian. And she'd be shippable with Sasha and Marcy and other female characters regardless of anything Matt did or didn't say. But I also say this as a grown adult who's been in many fandoms before, so, maybe that's the difference? Maybe if you're a lot younger -- and children's cartoon fandoms do skew younger for obvious reasons -- and Amphibia or The Owl House is your first or second fandom, that kind of creator validation is more important to you? IDK.
I think the other part of this is that, in general, white-dominated queer fandoms tend to prioritize queerness over discussions of race. (Granted I have no data on the racial makeup of Amphibia fandom but most fandoms on Tumblr are white-dominated so, forgive the assumption.) Personally, if I could ask Matt about the show, I would be more inclined to pick his brain about the other things you mentioned, like how his experiences growing up Thai-American influenced the show and its portrayal of Asian-American identities and themes of diaspora, immigration, and the experience of being othered. Oh, and I might specifically ask about the show's portrayal of mixed Asian/white friend groups that are majority-Asian because I find that aspect of the show really interesting, especially as someone whose middle/high school friend group had that racial makeup.
WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE MARCY??? :(
You're right, I do see more people complaining about Anne not mentioning Marcy vs. Sasha not mentioning her. I also see more complaints about Anne not mentioning Marcy much in 3A vs. her not mentioning Sasha much in early S2 even though S1 also ended with Anne witnessing an extremely traumatic near-death (and in fact near-suicide in Sasha's case) of one of her friends.
A big part of this is I think general Marcy-favoritism. Now I love Marcy. If hard-pressed I would probably rank her over Anne in terms of favorite characters, although it's really close and some days I might feel the opposite. But the Marcy favoritism in Amphibia fandom is...a bit extreme. I guess it's something that for once it's not the one white character who everyone is obsessed with? Lol? But it still annoys me, I think largely because it leads to a lot of poor analysis of the show. It's one thing if the fandom favors a particular character and analyzes them correctly; it's another thing if they favor that character and then get them, and the show as a whole, wrong.
But yes, there's also probably a double standard at play. Now, granted, Anne is the main character and we do spend way more time with her than with Sasha in S3, and we also have a way better sense of Anne's relationship with Marcy than we do of Sasha's relationship with her. So to be fair, I think if you're going to be mad about the characters not talking about Marcy, then I do get why you'd be more frustrated when it comes to Anne. But to accuse Anne of being a bad friend or whatever because of it without saying anything about Sasha is just silly and unfair.
But that circles back to my main problem which is that I just don't think it's a valid complaint for either character. Especially since Anne clearly does think about Marcy throughout S3 because in "The Beginning of the End" she has basically already forgiven her and come to understand why she did it. That took some serious thought on her part! (To be clear, I think Sasha also thought about Marcy, but while in 3A Anne had Marcy's journal in hand and the clarity of being safely on Earth with her parents and the Plantars to think the situation through, Sasha was trapped in a terrible situation as a consequence of Marcy's actions just as she had been for...um...the whole show. Hence why they come to different conclusions.)
But I also think that beyond this specific case, this complaint points to a general problem I see in some fandoms which is a lack of understanding that sometimes what we might want for the characters isn't good television. Anne moping around and constantly talking about a character who isn't there would not only not be in the spirit of the two seasons that came before, it just plainly would not be fun TV. Especially not for kids, who generally have much shorter attention spans than adults. Writing for kids is hard. Because if a kid isn't entertained by your show they will probably just turn it off and go hunt for bugs in the backyard or something.
You know what is fun TV? The Plantars being fish frogs out of water on Earth, Anne and the Plantars interacting with the Boonchuys, Anne making mistakes and learning from them, and Anne and both her families trying to avoid the Cloak-Bots and the FBI while trying to open a portal to Amphibia, with occasional interludes set in Amphibia showing Sasha growing as a person, Marcy being consumed by the Core, and Andrias trying to capture Anne. That's fun TV. That''s in keeping with the spirit of the show. And that's exactly what 3A did.

updated thoughts on NHL teams this holiday season WITH EXPLANATIONS under <3 (update i started this on christmas eve after work. it is now almost new years)
Tumblr media
rangers: geographically makes sense. my friends entire family likes them and the first hockey player i ever heard of was panarin (i wrote about him in an ap lang essay once) they are so babygirl to me even if they are a literal mess sometimes <3333 my favs include fox, kreider, and miller who are all so cool. kreider is personal to me for a variety of reasons and i root for his success everyday. fox is simply just!! i adore him and miller is the best and i can’t wait to see how he gets better over time. bonus to panarin for being my first and always looking cool in the videos the rangers twitter posts
-
canes: their vibes are good, they’re young and competitive, fun to watch and their social media presence is really well done <3 favs are kochetkov and skjei (bonus to aho for being my birthday twin) ive liked kochetkov since the second round last year even though his team did lose against mine so!! im happy to see him have such a large role on the canes this year
sabres: literally the sabres just look like they’re having a good time and that all the players love each other which is genuinely so fun to see, their merch is cute (my school’s chorus teacher wore a sabres ugly christmas sweater a few days ago) and i dig the blue and yellow. if i wasn’t a rangers fan this is probably the team i would’ve chosen to root for. unfortunately buffalo as a place was meh (even if it was really high on the list of places i strongly considered going to college) <33 my favs are skinner (MY FAV 30 YEAR OLD MAN) and power who is young and cool ig
senators: the vibes just seem good yk they are young and a mess what more could you want. i thought they’d be doing a lot better than they really are doing this year which sucks but whatever. i know nothing about them but i just feel like rooting for them they have that feel that makes you want them to succeed <3 favs are whatever dynamic is happening with tim and brady it is COMICAL in ottawa and they are literally just so funny to me
devils: that streak was very satisfying, i was wishing only the best for them. technically as a rangers fan the devils are like a metropolitan area rival but i literally do not care? they’re the type of team i root to succeed except for when some other team i like is against them so <333 basic but the fav has got to be jack hughes all of those brothers are FREAKS
-
stars: i like robertson a lot. oettinger is growing on me too and i dig green as a color so the stars are okay in my book
red wings: i got sent about four trade requests for moritz seider. the way he hits people is hilarious to me and i like his wild hair. also dylan larkin is cool. his cheeks are very rosy. their logo is charming and classic
canadiens: nick suzuki you are a delight and i care for you deeply (FIRST ASIAN CAPTAIN IN HABS HISTORY!!!!) the rookies are super entertaining too i like xhejab’s whole narrative
maple leafs: mitch marner. look at him is he not the most endearing player ever. i do not care about the rest of the team but the tavares narrative is intensely funny to me and i applaud him for leaving long island. i can actually name multiple players on this team which im proud of myself for
-
wild: this is mostly because their logo is pretty and i adore their vibes in regards to like kaprizov and reaves in christmas fits. ill say my fav is matt boldy bc he looks like he has a frog in his mouth and bc i don’t really know anyone on the team well enough to pick a fav
flyers: the vibes are so bad to where they’re literally good. it doesn’t make sense at all but that’s how it is. i like the jokes about their coach. fav is tk because he is always on something insane and it is so funny to go on twitter and see what shenanigans he started
penguins: they are so basic but i think everyone has thoughts on the penguins. like first off i know nothing about pittsburgh besides the fact that the penguins exist and that they’re having a great time. i don’t have a specific fav but geno is very funny in interviews so ill say him
avalanche: kept up with them after the rangers got out in the conference finals last year and they were very endearing. the vibes after they won were through the roof and this is probably one of the only teams where i can name the majority of the roster. favs include makar (he was my og avs fav during the cup run) and newy (he’s just … i want to hold him in my pocket)
-
coyotes: i really don’t think i have to explain this? it’s literally where careers go to die, they have no arena at the moment, and everyone makes fun of them constantly. i feel immense amounts of pity for them but it’s always funny when some team that everyone thinks is much better loses to the coyotes. they keep the league on their toes. i can’t pick a fav bc i literally can’t name a single player. logan cooley is a prospect for them tho whose name i do know
ducks: every time they aren’t #32 in the league i consider it a miracle. they’re in such dire straits im not even sure what’s happening. on one hand, i admire the attempt at getting bedard but also like. cmon guys put a pep in your step. fav is going to be trevor zegras bc he’s always getting into something and i admire the NHL trying to advertise him as the face of the sport over mcdavid (he is the only player i know besides gibson so??)
canucks: they are literally so pathetic im not even sure where to get started. that losing streak at the beginning of the season? they are like a sad sopping wet cat. they look so defeated but i admire petey single-handedly dragging them to survival. their news is 90% trade rumors on who is getting sent away. fav will be quinn hughes bc i am basic and he is just Like that but also petey because he’s a delight and blond
-
kings: my brother said “ive heard you mention them like once” which probably shows how much i care about them. i can name one player and it’s kopitar. also like quinton byfield but he’s a prospect. i could care less about them and their color scheme is lame
sharks: i love the sharks logo and their jerseys and their color scheme. unfortunately i don’t care about them as all and the only player i can name is couture and that’s bc he’s the captain and i did a sporcle on NHL captains once
predators: no i don’t know anything about them nor do i want to. i don’t like yellow as a color and roman josi and cody glass are the only players on their roster i know. i don’t even know much about nashville as a city
golden knights: look i really don’t know much about them. yeah mark stone is the captain and yeah i have eichel on my fantasy team but everything i hear about vegas is filled with loathing. i do wish eichel a happy revenge arc but other than that they can flop for all i care
capitals: i think as a team their vibes are good but i just do not care. this is one of the few teams in this tier where i can name more than three players which is a miracle. ive been seeing a lot of videos of dylan strome with his daughter which is adorable and i hope he signs long term in washington. cheers to ovechkin and whatever he’s doing i guess?
lightning: they’re like too good. like everyone gets it you’ve won two cups since 2020 but i just don’t really care? there’s no fun pathetic underdog arc for them. some guy at my school has a bunch of merch for them which makes no sense to me geographically but that’s whatever. stamkos is like the only player from the team that i can name but he’s cool and that video of his son with the zamboni is adorable
jets: i have multiple jets players on my fantasy team and i still can’t remember their names. winnipeg isn’t real to me and i refuse to believe it actually exists. i realize that they’re not even doing bad this year but narratively they’re kind of lame. their logo is meh to me but i love most of their jerseys
blues: i do not care about missouri as a state and know nothing about it. i can’t even believe they have a hockey team. still not a fan of yellow but i think the music note logo is cute. i know robert thomas and whatever that goalie who’s getting roasted on twitter every week. that is the extent of my knowledge and care for them. they won a cup in recent history so.
blue jackets: they’re just kind of sad at the moment because i feel like their entire roster is on IR? i feel like at the moment im writing this they’re probably like #31 in the league so lots of pity but also i just don’t care about them. their logo is pretty tho! i can name four players (werenski, johnson, laine, and gaudreau) so im counting that as a win! i have johnson on my fantasy team so i hope they keep him on the first line forever (update: not thrilled with them putting on a firework show when one of their goalies literally died because of a firework incident that proceeded to traumatize their other current goalie)
panthers: sorry to the panthers but i really don’t care about them? their logo is lame but their reverse retro jerseys are cool so they have that going for them. i know matthew tkachuk plays for them and there was a whole dramatic trade this summer but that’s it!
-
bruins: this one is actually petty i just don’t like them which doesn’t bode well with my future lol. like as far as it goes, they’re a good team and have respectable locker room culture so i should like them more than i do but i just don’t like them. their logo is boring. sorry bruins but i do like mcavoy and root for his success often
flames: i think the battle of alberta is lame. wishing only the best for kadri though who is the only flames player i know!
oilers: i think the battle of alberta is lame (part two) yeah yeah connor mcdavid who is very good but has not expressed an emotion to the media since he was 18 which probably says something about sports culture and i feel bad but also like. edmonton? really? (update after watching the ruff ruff relay, mcdavid’s dog is cute and i like that the oilers did this) tyson barrie is also cool he’s my birthday twin and i wish only the best for him
islanders: my apush teacher in 11th grade was an islanders fan. he wasn’t a great teacher and as a person was questionable, including an implication of calling girls sluts, questionable responses when asked about the lgbtq community, and thinking he was considerably more liberal than he came off as. he microaggressed me as a show of anti racism; i didn’t feel the anti racism energy, in fact i felt very uncomfortable bc it was his response to finding out i did research on racial stereotypes for about the last six months (research that literally ended up with me in multiple newspapers because it was pretty decent). did get a 5 on the exam and 100 in the class but he left a lasting impression of what team i immediately crossed off my list when deciding what hockey team to cheer for. i love the look of their aqua orange color scheme (not the blue orange that is lame) and the fisherman jerseys are super cool. would not be this low in the ranking if i didn’t have that apush teacher, who i always avoid in the halls. if he didn’t exist i might’ve been an islanders fan instead. shoutout to mat barzal whose jersey i see constantly. other players i know are lee, cizikas, and sorokin
-
blackhawks: do i need to explain this. i get literal psychic brain damage every time someone says kane to the rangers. literally psychic brain damage. if kane ever goes to the rangers im cutting my losses and becoming a sabres fan

Hi! Can I request a male matchup for Voltron?
𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘: 20 years old, 5'1", Southeast Asian. Chubby with brunette bob cut hair, chocolate brown eyes, and a small beauty mark on my forehead. My style is in between soft grunge and soft punk but loves to wear Korean makeup style
𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬: Muggleborn Ravenclaw with a patronous spirit of Hummingbird, an INFJ (last time I checked at MBTI test), my enneagram is 4w5 and my moral alignment is Neutral Good. I may have a slight introverted tendencies and awkward nature, I describe myself as fiery, swears like a sailor, confident, jokester, and, passionate. Religious, super talkative, sometimes hyper (because of excitement), giggly (I always laugh for stupid reasons), nerdy, actually sweet and nice though I can be aloof, intimidating, and scary when I get so angry. I tend to become really fiesty, stands boldly on what I believe (claiming myself as a realist though some of my views doesn't makes sense), and unbothered to be true to myself, clumsy, stubborn, young-at-heart, unfortunate and inattentive. I have "no bs" towards the people that I hate, sarcasam and savagery is my main language. But on the other side, I overthink a lot and cry over small things many times, small mistakes leads me to provoke me even more that sounds like a drama queen, yet recognizes a soft spot for dumb jokes, cheesy pickup lines and prefer people with a good sense of humour who see myself as equal. Chill in academics, but very competitive that manages to the top even for my dreams---I'm very dedicated on what I want for my life, and I display modesty and gracefulness towards some people that deserves respect. One notable feature about her is her multi-potentiality due to being naturally gifted in artistic fields (this includes singing).
𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦: Arts, choir, poetry, karaoke, literature, history, makeup, beauty pageants, fun/deep/dumb conversations, expanding my knowledge in Christianity, documentaries (about saints), reading interesting stuffs, talking about social issues, and creative writing, chilling both indoors and outdoors.
𝗛𝗢𝗕𝗕𝗜𝗘𝗦: Drawing, singing, dancing when nobody's around (I'm very bad at it), sharing nerdy or opinionated thoughts, walking like a model (if I ever feel so confident), sleeping, listening to music (from rock to kpop), chatting or browsing on social media, watching videos on YouTube, making terrible jokes/puns, watching cartoons, writing, reading interesting things, and conceptualizing my artworks. I also used to study Italian language a bit
I match you with…
Matt Holt
Tumblr media
-With the war, Matt never had time to meet anyone to fond over. when he finally returned to earth he never thought of a serious relationship only flirting here and there but
-The first time he saw you, you caught his attention almost immediately you looked so different from everyone else
-he couldn’t take his eyes off you from that moment.
-He could tell that you were much harder to approach, you stayed silent only nodding to his words when he first introduced himself but when you finally began to open up
-he adored the way you’d blush at his dumb pickup lines
-and how you’d bite back taking him by surprise but he laughed at your response never taking offense
-you taught Matt how much more different earth was now and helped him get accustomed to his home planet
-Or how you could talk about something for hours on end, Matt could never get bored of you
-For dates, matt would take you out on little picnics, stay home and watch movies in a pillow fort
-even going out to sing he’d blare out the lyrics as loudly as he could just to watch you smile and giggle
-the two of you would sit in a comfortable silence as you’d draw one another
-matt would notice your little hums when you were to focus on the canvas to even notice him staring
-(Matt was never good at drawing so his drawings of you would look kinda wonky)
-The patient with you when you’d cry or aren’t having a good day
-when you wanted to be right beside him as you cried he’d be there for you or if you wanted to be alone he’d give you your space and support you from afar
-He enjoys spending his time with you,
he wouldn’t mind if the two of you spent the rest of your time together.

Lesbian influencers call of wedding after cheating scandal
Tumblr media
Popular lesbian influencers Anjali Chakra and Sufi Malik have announced their split just weeks before their planned wedding.
In coordinated Instagram posts on Monday, Anjali and Sufi told fans that they had made the decision to split after Sufi cheated.
“I made an unrecognisable mistake of betrayal by cheating on her a few weeks before our wedding,” Sufi wrote.
“I’ve hurt her tremendously, beyond my own understanding. I’m owning up to my mistake and will continue to do so. I understand the gravity of the situation and can only ask relentlessly for forgiveness, from Anjali and Allah.”

In her own post, Anjali also acknowledged the infidelity.
“What we have shared has been so full of love and nothing short of magical — I will choose to remember it this way.”
“Since the beginning, your outpouring of love and support has played such a special part in our journey and we will continue to carry that love with us moving forward.
“This may come as a shock but our journey is now shifting. We have decided to call off our wedding and end our relationship due to infidelity committed by Sufi.”
However, she also write that she wishes for “absolutely no negativity to be shown towards Sufi,” and for her followers to “respect this difficult decision.”

Who are Sufi Malik and Anjali Chakra?
The couple first gained a following back in 2019, after a photoshoot for a South Asian designer went viral.
A tweet that photographer Sarowar shared of the shoot received over 42,000 likes, with people celebrating the photos’ depiction of a queer, South Asian, interfaith love story — Sufi is Muslim and Pakistani, and Anjali is Hindu and Indian.

The couple went viral again in the same year after sharing their one-year anniversary photo shoot.
“When we first started dating I used to let go of Sufi’s hand a few blocks before my office when she walked me to work because I was scared people would find out I was queer,” Anjali wrote.
“Fast forward a year and we spent our anniversary at my cousin’s wedding, where she met 50 members of my extended family who loved her!
“Here’s to many more years of growing in our love, together.”

do you think it might affect them...the shippy stuff...i also read rps and kinda ship them but i remain within the factions of tumblr anonymity or if im reading fanfic then noone knows that..i dont comment insinuating anything anywhere where they can see but i do always sometimes wonder if it affects them....especially from a pr perspective i have seen that during promo or even beyond that pr agents do use "bromance" (i hate that word) as a part of promo...its visible with paul and andrew for all of us strangers, or barry and jacob for saltburn or jonathan and matt for fellow travelers or even jake gyllenhaal and tom holland when spiderman : far from home came out.....so from pr lens i always wonder how much is welcomed and how much are they affected by it....because yes pr definetely use that but with rwrb we never got promo but fans still stick to them even now so i always wonder
Well... it depends. And I will say this now, there is definitely someone out there who's more familiar with PR and how the industry works, but here's my two cents from my understanding and experience.
Yes to some degree, the shippy stuff is part of promo/PR. It's a lot more blatant and default in Chinese/ East Asian entertainment industries, and holy shit I could write a dissertation on that, but yeah.
But, and please do correct me if I'm wrong, I feel like there's a little more degree of freedom/choice in the Western industry when it comes to how much they do and to what extent. I also do believe that genuine friendships can be formed. So it really depends. I mean, in a way PR/promo is exactly what happened to firstprince.
As for the boys, is their relationship genuine? I would say yes: at least from my Chinese fandom experience, something that indicates a genuine bond is when one comments on the other's character/personality, as opposed to only them as an acting partner. This applies to Nick and Taylor. Plus they're close enough to tease each other across the pond, I'd say that's genuine and not for PR/promo. They don't need to go to this extent if it's mostly for PR/promo. Also as you said, RWRB promo period is over. On top of that Nick has TIOY and M&G on the air, if he really treats these stuff as PR/promo he would avoid anything with Taylor, we have a word for it here called 避嫌 Bi Xian, but he doesn't.
Whether or not people shipping them will affect their actual relationship, that's up to them, but I do think both are mature to keep their relationship between them. Plus it's not their first rodeo when it comes to being shipped with a co star.
I hope I anwered your question? Please feel free to shoot me another ask if I missed anything
