yeah sorry, your fandom got a hold of your canonically bisexual character and are now acting as if they are only straight or gay. So sorry :(

I was talking about RWBY and Minecraft in the What The Heck Is RWBY discord server, and so I looked up rwby minecraft skins and saw a lot of good ones...and this absolutely cursed gem of a mod.

gimme your top 5 hot takes about rwby
I'm afraid I don’t have an accurate gauge of what qualifies as a “hot take” (or even what it actually is. Is it merely a controversial opinion?) so if any of these are ice cold I apologize
Adam and the Rose family should be connected in some way. Visual cues are important and there's so much spicy potential, especially if the dynamic originated with Summer
For Roman, the best and longest standing villain of the show, to be one of the few on-screen Grimm deaths is borderline parody. Personally, I think Ruby should’ve had a more active role in his death, even if by accident or setting up circumstances like she did Neo
Ozma’s situation is far more horrifying and sympathetic than Salem’s. The gods proved that they could bring Ozma back to life in his own body, but instead he’s forced to be a body snatcher? That’s fucked up in so many ways. She may be able to die again and again, but I think it’s way worse to die knowing you’re dooming several people at once
May Marigold isn’t that great of trans rep. She’s so unmemorable and inconsequential to the plot that the only reason I remember her at all is because she’s The Trans One. Like, glad they made her trans, and the reveal was respectful and clear and not even plot-relevant!, but maybe make her a good character first?
If we’re going by the show’s queer golden rule of blushing = romantic feelings, then Ruby had a crush on Emerald in V3 and it should have been explored way more for angst purposes

Honkai Impact Webcomic - Elan Palatinus - Abridged Part 2
Part 1 here
Here is where the actual story summary starts to break down, because if I am being honest I was only interested in yelling about These Two Trainwrecks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love the Kaslanas and their stubborn dedication to using Int as a dump stat. The epitomy of Pure Of Heart, Dumb of Ass, truly. Also, shoutout to the fact that Otto apparently just? Collects outfits specifically tailored to Kallen's measurements, as well as making inventions specifically designed to match said outfits.
Though it's not JUST Kallen he's collecting outfits for:
Tumblr media
Honestly an excellent look. How to support your childhood friend slash crush's vigilante dreams 101, everyone take notes. I did not screenshot but he proceeds to "trip and twist his ankle" so the guards rush over to help.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile inside the mansion, Kallen is so bad at vigilantism. She's Trying. Also shoutout to the last moment in history when Kallen's hair and eye color will actually be an identifying feature instead of a coloring held by like 25 people at any given time.
Tumblr media
The basement, huh? What's in the basement? And how is Otto involved? I did not screenshot this either but earlier, Otto talked Kallen into sending a letter announcing her intent to rob Victor, which is why Victor was waiting for her when she arrived. In the letter he specifically says "And I'll also come for what's in the basement", prompting Victor to assign most of his guards there. One wonders what Otto's motivations are here.
Skipping forward a bit, we're in another flashback now. In this version of history, the Black Plague still happened but was specifically caused by Honkai. We look back now to Otto's attempts to find a cure, as one of his patients goes full honkai zombie and has to be dispatched by a guard as Otto stands by.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otto: I must find a cure, not because people are dying or it's the right thing to do, that's all fine I don't care about that. I need to find a cure specifically because Kallen will be happy with me if I do.
Otto Apocalypse motivations in a nutshell right here, even as he turns around and tells Kallen only the parts he thinks she'll approve of. Man reading this again after finishing the comic: the fact that Kallen sees Otto as inspiration and a role model for her own desire to do good is So. In light of what's about to happen.
Speaking of: skipping a bunch of story, Kallen does end up finding the basement when a girl she's trying to protect goes missing. BUT: inside the basement we find what literally looks like the big boss lair of a jRPG or something and ABBREVIATEDLY:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otto: Listen just don't ask questions about why I'm in the human sacrifice dungeon, I can explain. Haha actually no I can't.
After this confrontation Kallen is taken away to the dungeons, and we cut to Otto dreaming:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He wakes up and visits Kallen, and is told to bring her to her senses, as the church needs the support of her family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naturally, slapping someone is terrible if a guy does it, but cute and passionate when a girl does it.
Man, Otto's simple, childish wish :c
I'm sure the fact that he's sold his body to a mysterious and malevolent force will absolutely not come back to bite him later, what consequences could this possibly have.
Nice to see that Kallen specifically and explicitly has told him she doesn't want him sacrificing himself for her sake and that this will not make her happy. The lesson Otto takes from this is that he must make sure not to TELL her when he's doing stuff like that, and then he spends the next 500 years running around committing atrocities so he can kill himself and bring her back. Because at the end of the day it's not about what Kallen wants or what will make her happy, but about what Otto wants and what will make Otto happy.
But right now it IS genuinely about making Kallen happy and I have so many questions about how much of that change is related to the little malevolent voice he now has in the back of his head.

This is a bit petty, but the only guy I've ever truly let myself like used to compare me to characters in a way that felt wrong. It wasn't that the characters were an insult or that there was anything wrong with them, it was that I didn't relate to them and it felt like he didn't actually know me.
Now there's Karlach. I've pretty much said some of her dialogue word for word before. The conversation where she tells Astarion she's proud of him? I've basically had that conversation with that guy.
She's playful and carefree in a way that doesn't come off as childish. She's a badass warrior and everyone knows it. She'll do a silly dance and then crush her enemies.
I feel a little vindicated, knowing that if he's still into videogames--he's the one who introduced me to Dragon Age, he's why I'm here, this game is so directly up his alley it has his house number on it--there's basically no way he can look at Karlach without being reminded of me.
#these characters are so relatable and i am so grateful#he compared me to tali. ruby rose. merrill from dragon age.#i don't have an issue with any of them but i don't see myself in them#i see myself in yang. maybe a bit in fenris?#da2 is one of my faves but i connect less with the characters#i can see it more now but. it felt like he was reminded of me when he saw characters who got flustered easily and acted childish#and that didn't make me feel good about myself#karlach also gets flustered but she's more well rounded#idk! i just. I'm even the older sister. i struggle with the same things yang does. and I'm. ruby? to him? really?#in order of relatability the rwby cast goes: yang blake weiss ruby#They're all good and i do relate to all of them but. I'm yang the most i think.#except i hide it so i come off like blake#and i have similar feelings as weiss does towards her family#and ruby is great! i love her!#this was also during the earlier seasons#it was just like. you see me as a kid huh.#fair. also hurtful.#anyway he might also see me in shadowheart and I'm only a tiny small bit less enthused about that#honestly i need to learn more about these characters. I've been hyperfocusing on astarion.#but i see myself in all of them#laezel's experience with her faith is probably... basically the same as my own#i never want to beg someone to see their worth again. I'm sorry if that makes me a shitty friend.#...*shoves love of astarion behind my back* not now.#(i have screamed at astarion in my mind)#anyway.#personal

Hot take: Ozpin isn't even morally gray. I guess he is if you count past lives (slaughtering potentially thousands of ppl to end a war), but otherwise?? I really don't think he is.
Imo, Qrow is more morally gray, Ironwood pre-villain arc was morally gray, etc. I really don't think any of Oz's actions could count as 'morally gray', even when considering that he kept important information to keep his circle and by extension RWBY and Co hopeful, regardless of if you think it's manipulative or not (technically yes, but there was good intentions behind it so imo it's fundamentally different).
Oz really isn't the bad guy the entire fndm tries making him out to be. If he was I think the show would show him in that light, which it doesn't. It TRIED showing him as morally gray, but generally his actions aren't that bad. The FNDM loves saying Oz is an awful manipulative compulsive liar who's intentions are weird and muddy. But honestly I think if he was like that, he wouldn't be portrayed as good. Most of Salems own opinions on Oz is her projecting and being a hypocrite. I don't think the characters narration is reliable when it comes to Oz. The show itself tried making him seem like that in v6, but ultimately failed.
An example people use to say he's morally gray is pointing out that he made the Academies. Which, I won't lie, is a pretty stupid take. The Academies train older teenagers (17-21, possibly older if they allow older ppl to join) who have already been learning how to fight presumably since they were young. Ruby had presumably already had Crescent Rose for a few years by the time she was 15, and there's several combat schools to teach kids how to fight. Remnantians count as a warrior race! They HAVE to fight to survive. Even if you haven't been to an academy, it's normal to know how to fight to defend against Grimm. Controlled by Salem or not, Grimm are a constant that you NEED to fight against. The Academies just give widespread access to tools and education to learn in a safe environment filled with other hunters. They just so happen to fight off Salems Grimm forces, and unknowingly defend the Relics inside. It's a win-win-win on everyone's side. Yes, people are going to die. But they'd be MORE likely to die if a) they can't defend themselves properly b) don't have proper tools to do so or c) don't know how to fight at ALL. Thanks to the Academies, militaries don't need to be used (except Atlas). The possibility of war goes WAY down, and it's harder for the kingdoms to be actively corrupt (not impossible just less easier to be enforced). Objectively? The Academies are a GOOD thing.
Another example is people saying Oz brought RWBY and Co unwillingly into the shadow war. Which... is objectively incorrect. Qrow was the one who told Ruby about the information Cinder and Co were going to attack Haven, and Yang eventually went after her after she left. Ruby brought RNJR with her, because they all experienced trauma and reasonably wanted justice, thinking it was just Cinder behind everything. Then Qrow was the one who told RNJR roughly the truth. He didn't particularly want to, bit he relented anyways, and even then he held back information like Oz being immortal. He didn't even tell them about Salem, just that some nasty people wanted the Relics and Maiden powers and that one of them was named Salem. I guess you could count Ruby being brought into Beacon early, but even then that was the SAFEST option. If Cinder or Roman noticed her silver eyes in ep 1 and that got back to Salem, Ruby would be FUCKED. She was already involved in fighting Roman at that point, and thus would likely get targeted again, silver eyes or not. So Oz brought her in, citing her skill as the reason, while the others likely knew the truth. Qrow OR tai wouldn't have been fine with it if Oz only brought her in to put her into the circle. They would've torn him a new one. Not only that, but obviously he DIDN'T KNOW about the upcoming fall of Beacon. He genuinely thought Ruby and her team was going to be fine for the next 4 years, and when he was starting to suspect something was up, he STILL had no idea the Academy was going to be attacked during the festival. Why would he?? A direct attack isn't typical of Salem, iirc he or someone else said it themselves, especially since it had been 80 or so years since the Great War, which is implied that Salem started. Even IF he wanted to bring her in, he would've waited until after she graduated, which is what happened with STRQ and was going to happen with CVFY. Oz places an emphasis on letting them be kids for as long as possible. He only had to involve them when Qrow already told them everything. And even then, Oz repeatedly gave RWBY and JNR an out. He DID NOT WANT them involved, not yet at least. And with Pyrrha, he didn't exactly have a choice. He gave her time they didn't have, and required her to wait n think, and then needed her verbal consent WHILE BEACON WAS BEING ATTACKED. Yes telling her stressed her out, but I think if she knew the same thing could be offered to anyone else, she'd prefer to take on that burden. It wasn't fair, but it visibly pained Oz to have to give her the choice. He didn't want to, but war is never fair. He would've had to go to SOMEONE regardless.
As for Oz keeping the truth that Salem can't be killed a secret, imo, that is a very VERY hard call for anyone to make. For him it was the option of: tell them immediately and not have any allies (something he values heavily) or have them join Salem out of fear, wait first and tell them later and have them possibly freak out like Ironwood/betray him/lose hope and thus not have any allies, or never tell them so he has important allies and they possibly don't betray him or lose hope. Obviously, he chose the last option, and it's entirely possible he wanted to, eventually, tell them the truth, but we just don't know that. Of course I agree that Oz should've told his circle anyways, but for someone as traumatized and paranoid as Oz who's had to make this decision countless times, you can't exactly fault him for keeping the truth hidden. He's likely told the entire truth before and it bit him in the ass several times before he finally decided to keep it hidden. He said it himself, Leo was NOT the first nor was the last to betray him. As for not telling RWBY and Co? They're CHILDREN he's barely known for, what, a year?? And all of that he was their teacher/Headmaster who didn't often interact with them, or their mentor. He barely knew them and as far as we know, didn't get the chance to actually know and get close to them. They already knew just how dangerous Salem was from the fall of Beacon and battle of haven, plus the fact that she controls Grimm. They could've easily assumed Salem was hard to kill at LEAST since she's immortal and been around for countless thousands of years, and there's no way they thought no one tried to kill her. Oz barely knew them and they almost proved him right by nearly giving up. Plus, he was FRESHLY betrayed at that point. I'm sure yall noticed he was immediately pretty closed off due to the revelation of Leo's betrayal. He genuinely considered Leo a friend, so Oz's trauma response is to hold everyone else at arms length.
Another thing is the fact that he hid the truth from Salem as well early on in their relationship. Thing is, Jinn (a presumably reliable narrator) stated that they BOTH hid things from the other. Salem likely didn't tell him that she lied and manipulated kingdoms into turning against the gods, just that she wanted him back and the gods didn't like that bc that ABSOLUTELY would've upset Oz. Oz, knowing Salem didn't like the gods from her story, likely decided right then to keep the full truth from her, worried she wouldn't react well to it, something anyone would do. Not only that, but right after, Salem convinced, possibly manipulated, Oz into acting as a god-king with her, something he clearly didn't want to do. Jinn herself said "the hearts of men are easily swayed" as Salem convinced him to become a God-king with her. So yes, it's very possible that Salem manipulated him into doing that. "But Salem was fine with the truth later when he told her!" Yes, she was, but Oz couldn't have known that. And the whole reason he tried to leave her was because Salem was turning into a dictator tyrant, something Oz didn't want and something Salem was set on. He did overreact a little bit by bringing the kids instead of communicating with her, but it wasn't his fault that Salem immediately attacked him instead of trying to talk to him, or at least waiting until the kids were in a safe place before attacking him. Most of this wasn't Oz's fault, if any of it. Salem overreacted heavily by attacking him with the kids being react there. Had Oz and the kids lived and escaped her, they would've been TERRIFIED of Salem afterwards, traumatized by the ordeal. And it's never shown that Salem actually cared that they died, just that they "could've had freedom", blaming Oz instead. Meanwhile Oz, afterwards, spent whole LIVES drowning his sorrow and regret and trauma in alcohol, and he's clearly STILL affected by it if Salem using the silhouettes of their children is any indication, since she was likely taunting him (but also reminiscing, regardless of her feelings on the matter) and never brought up their children in any matter.
Overall I really don't think Oz is as bad as the fandom says he is. People like to think he and Salem are the same (something i might make a post on later), when they're very, very different. Oz really isn't bad, he's just traumatized and is basing current events off of past experiences. He's far from manipulative, uncaring, or really any negative adjective I've seen people describe him as. I've probably missed some things, but my point has been made I think. The fndm really likes to misinterpret Oz's character, saying he's exactly like Dumbledore, but in reality he's a subversion of characters like Dumbledore. He's a seriously good guy, and I think people miss that.

A new opportunity
(Good god i can't remember the last time i spent so long in such a long post, hope you enjoy)
Another day began at Beacon, and just like always, teams RWBY and JNPR gathered for breakfast at the cantina.
Nora: -which is why i believe that a monetary system based on Maple syrup would be the best solution to an economic crisis.
Ren: . . . . . .
Pyrrha: . . . . . .
Ruby: . . . . . .
Blake: . . . .worst thing of all? that kinda makes sense.
Jaune: *sits down with his tray* Hey guys, what did I miss?
Ruby: Nora was explaining to us how using maple syrup instead of lien would improve the economy.
Ren: If she spent as much time studying as she does thinking about these things, her grades would be better than Weiss'
Pyrrha: Speaking of her, where is she?
Blake: At the headmaster's office.
Ren: Did something happen?
Ruby: Honestly? We have no idea, she's been acting a bit off since she woke up.
Yang: *sits down with her tray* We're talking about Ice queen?
Ruby: Yeah.
Yang: Wonder what's got her panties on a twist. Did you try to serenade her again vomit boy?
Jaune: Of course not, i haven't tried anything since the ball.
Ruby: It's been just a week so….maybe those are still on her head?
Blake: maybe she had a dream with him again, or a nightmare as she calls it.
Jaune: Why am I the only possible reason why Weiss is having mood problems?
Yang: Because no one can push her buttons as far as you vomit boy.
Jaune: I don't. . . . . .*sigh* Fair enough.
Ruby: Hey don't be like that, she hasn't cursed at or ridiculed you ever since the ball, that's some progress.
Jaune: I guess. . . . .though at this point i don't wanna try anything anymore, if she ever wants to talk or try and be friends i'll be here but. . . . .i'll sit in my corner until then, i already pushed her more than enough.
Blake: That's probably for the better.
Nora: Speaking of the devil.
They turned their heads to see the heiress they were just talking about walking towards them with her own lunch tray, her gaze wandering around the cantina with a tranquil expression, until her eyes landed on their table.
The group wavered at her, all of them including jaune who gave a small wave with an awkward smile. He locked eyes with her and expected the usual nasty look before she looked away with a "hmph", but instead he got a warm smile from the usually cold heiress, there was. . . . .something more to it, but he couldn't exactly put his finger on it.
Yang: About time ice queen! Did Ozpin end up talking your ears off?
Weiss: Not quite, he did go on a long ramble, but his words always have a lot to offer.
Yang: What? Wanting to upgrade from teacher's pet to headmaster's pet?
Weiss didn't reply with the usual glare, instead letting out a short chuckle, which was odd enough as it was, but before any comments could arise, they watched in a mix of shock and surprise as the heiress took a seat, and of all places, she took a seat specifically next to the blonde knight.
There was a small moment of awkwardness at that, they all looked at her in disbelief, until Jaune made his move.
Jaune: *hops a little away from her*
Weiss: *hops closer to him*
Everyone: ???
Jaune: ??? *Hops away again*
Weiss: *hops closer*
Everyone: !?!?!?
Jaune: *staring flabbergasted*
Weiss: What? *Sniff, sniff* Do i smell?
Jaune: Erm. . . . .n-no.
Weiss: Then why are you backing away from me?
Jaune: Oh, well, i just. . . .figured you wouldn't want me to sit next to you.
Weiss: *snorts and smiles* Why would I sit next to you if I didn't want you next to me silly?
Jaune: . . . . . . .
Everyone: . . . . . . .
Nora: *whispering* Who's that and what did she do to Weiss?
Ren: *shrugs*
Weiss: What are you all staring at me for? Let's eat.
They all exchanged looks and followed suit, they were still curious about Weiss' sudden mood change, but the topic was readily forgotten once Nora started to ramble again. Well, forgotten to most at least.
Jaune was quite aware of the snow white beauty next to him, it made him really nervous, it was quite the strange situation to be honest. He tried to act normal, but every now and again he would glance at her and she would glance back, he would look away as fast as possible and pretend he didn't see anything, but he was sure she noticed, and was almost certain those exchanges made her giggle.
Jaune: *quickly glances at her*
Weiss: *staring*
Jaune: *pink, looks away as fast as possible*
Weiss: I'm not gonna hit you for looking or anything like that y'know?
Jaune: S-sorry, i didn't mean to stare.
Weiss: Pretty sure those were too short to be called "stares", but I don't mind either way.
Jaune: Uhm, okay. . . . .are. . . .are you okay?
Weiss: Better than ever.
Jaune: Are you sure? I never saw you-!?
Weiss: *sighs, resting against his arm* That was a good lunch, I haven't felt this full in years.
Jaune: *red* Erm. . . .Weiss? W-what are you doing?
Weiss: Resting, I think I ate a little too much. Am i bothering you?
Jaune: N-no! Not at all.
Weiss: *snuggles* Hmm. . . .Good.
Jaune: *extremely confused*
Everyone: *staring* !?!?!?
Jaune: *redder* I have no idea either.
Lunch was over and classes soon began, confusion was still high amongst the group but they didn't have much time to question since Oobleck had just arrived to begin his lecture, and once again, Weiss was found sitting next to Jaune.
Jaune: Ugh, This thing again. . . . .
Weiss: Having problems?
Jaune: O-oh, no, not at all! *Puffs chest* I just. . . .y'know, like to think a lot before writing down an answer.
Weiss: Uh huh. . . .so, what are you having trouble with?
Jaune: I'm not-
Weiss: *stern look*
Jaune: *deflates, depressed sigh* Alloying calculations.
Weiss: Ahh, I remember those. *Leans closer, looking into his paper*
Jaune: *pink* . . . . . .W-Weiss-
Weiss: Ah, I see the issue. You're using the wrong formula, This one is used to calculate the weight of the materials during the process, what you want is the formula for density. All you need is pick is the value of the metal and the area times. . . . .
At some point Jaune's mind turned off from most things around him, he couldn't remember ever being this close to Weiss, especially when she wasn't ready to knock him out, the way her eyes scanned through the material, her soft yet serious expression as she patiently explained it all to him was mesmerizing to say the least, Jaune knew Weiss was pretty but. . . . .wow, he feels like he might fall for her all over again if this keeps up
*Snap*
Jaune: H-huh?
Weiss: Remnant calling Jaune, are you there?
Jaune: *pink* S-sorry, i was thinking about something.
Weiss: I figured, you've been staring pretty intensely at me for some time.
Jaune: *red* . . . . .i'm really sorry.
Weiss: Don't be *small smile* I like the way you look at me.
Jaune: *redder* . . . . . . .
Weiss: I wrote the formula on the corner of your notes, just try and memorize it and you won't have any issues, Okay? *Goes back to her notes*
Jaune: O-okay. Thanks.
Jaune didn't know how to feel, confused? Shocked? Overjoyed? It was a mix of all of those, and Jaune wondered until when this was going to last, would she wake up tomorrow and start hating him again? It was something worth asking, though in all honesty, he really didn't want to know the answer. And so, instead of letting that question eat away his mind, he moved on with his day, and soon enough combat classes started, where he once again found himself in a fight against cardin of all people.
And of course, it didn't end well for him.
Glynda: Match is over, Victory goes to mister Winchester.
Cardin: Hah, what a surprise. 'till next time arc.
Jaune groaned in pain, Cardin's last hit broke his aura and his face took most of the damage, he held his bruised cheek and left the arena, whatever was left of his pride being the most damaged thing in this fight
Nora: You'll get him next time.
Pyrrha: Shouldn't you go to the infirmary?
Jaune: My aura is gonna kick in an hour or so anyways, it's fine. *Sits down, groaning and rubbing the ugly bruise in his cheek.
Weiss: *sigh* You're so stubborn.
Jaune: It's fine, i-
He stopped halfway into his sentence, watching as she pulled out a handkerchief, picked up Yang's water bottle to soak it up and used a glyph to freeze it, sitting close to him and reaching out for his cheek. Jaune reflexively moved away which seemed to be the wrong move, she gave him an angry look and held his face, pulling him really close.
Weiss: Stay still you dolt. *Starts gently applying the ice* if you move i'm gonna give your other cheek a matching mark
Jaune: *flinches and stays still.*
Weiss: Better.
She then held the frozen handkerchief to his bruise, gently pressing against it while using a glyph to keep it cooled
Jaune: You don't need to do this, my aura is gonna kick in a little while.
Weiss: I don't care, you're in pain right? so zip it and let me take care of you.
Jaune: I can handle a little pain.
Weiss: I don't doubt it, but you don't need to handle it. Stop trying to act tough, it's okay to let people help you.
Jaune: . . . . . .
Weiss: There. Feels better?
Jaune: A lot. Thanks Weiss.
Weiss: Don't thank me, just make sure to kick his butt next time.
Jaune: Hah. . . . .as if that is ever going to happen.
Weiss: It will, maybe not in the next match, or the one after that, but it will eventually.
Jaune: You sound awfully sure about that.
Weiss: Because I am. Do you know what's the worst thing about You jaune?
Jaune: I think i can come up with an entire list of things i-oww!
Weiss: *pinching his good cheek* The worst thing about you is this, you have no faith in yourself, despite how hard you work, despite your visible talents, despite all of your friends telling you otherwise, you insist on the idea that you are worthless, when you obviously are not.
She stopped pinching his cheek, instead, she gently stroked it.
Weiss: You are much, much stronger than any of us could ever hope to imagine, there's someone deep down in there that will one day save many lives and protect many people, someone all of us can look up to and that can carry a burden that would crush most of us ten times over, someone worthy of being called a true hero, so don't let your fears and doubts stop you from letting that someone come out.
Jaune: *speechless* . . . . .i. . . . . .i'll try.
Weiss: *smiles* That's a good start.
And once more, Jaune was left wondering what happened to the Weiss he knew yesterday, there was no way to tell how long this would last, and the worst thing of all? Is that after everything that happened, after he finally decided to move on, she suddenly does all of this and jaune finds himself completely and utterly head over heels for her again, probably even more than before.
Was she playing with him? Was this some sort of revenge plan? He doubted it, he couldn't see Weiss sinking to such a low, and even if she tried the others would've intervened, but they were clearly just as shocked as he was.
Weiss: Hey, erm. . . . .i've been meaning to get some things in vale after class is over, would you like to come with me?
Jaune: !?!? You mean. . . .you need someone to help you?
Weiss: No, I mean that I would like to go out with you after class is over.
Jaune: I. . . . . . . .you. . . . . . .you mean. . . . . .
Weiss: *chuckles* Just a yes or a no will suffice you dolt.
Jaune: Y-yes, I would really like that.
Weiss: It's a date then.
Date. . . .Jaune lost count of the amount of times he imagined having one of those with Weiss, never in his life however did he expect this to be how it happened, once again he felt the fear of this being too good to be true, that Weiss would change her mind back how it was before as fast as she changed to how it is now, or that he'll just wake up on his bed all of this would have been a dream, but he couldn't control it either way, all he could really do is enjoy his time with Weiss for as long as he had left.
And so classes ended for the day, and soon enough, the heiress was Found in her room, wearing much more casual clothes and ready to leave, before her team blocked the way.
Weiss: You girls need something?
Blake: Yeah, we do. What's going on?
Ruby: Spill the beans!
Weiss: I assure you I have no beans in my mouth to spill.
Yang: See! This is what we mean! Since when do you do jokes like that!?
Weiss: I've developed a sense of appreciation for silly jokes like that.
Blake: Since when?
Weiss: Since yesterday.
Yang: What's going on with you? Is everything okay?
Weiss: Yes, why? Is my behavior bothering you?
Ruby: No way, you've been really nice all day, especially to Jaune, we just wanted to know where all that is coming from?
Yang: You couldn't stand the guy not too long ago, yeah you tell us what he did on the ball and that definitely earns him some good points, but for you to act like this? Like you're his girlfriend or something? It seems off for you.
Weiss: *sigh* I figured you girls would question. So, do you want the truth?
R_BY: Yeah.
Weiss: The whole truth?
Blake: Of course.
Weiss: For realsies.
Yang: just spill it!
Weiss: Alright then, the truth is that I am not the same Weiss you knew from before, I'm actually from eight years in the future. The world was collapsing and there wasn't any hope left as we got stomped by the queen of grimm, that was until I figured out how to mix the magic I received from four magical women with my time dilation glyphs to send my mind back in time, which allows me to try and prevent the disaster before it even has a chance to strike.
R_BY: . . . . . .
Weiss: As for Jaune's case, he's been my lover for the past three years, well, was at least. I had to watch him getting crushed by the weight of responsibility and the things we had to constantly go through, we didn't have time to go on dates, for romance or much of anything else aside from some rare occasions, his mind was constantly haunted by his own mistakes and even the ones he had no fault of, yet he pushed through everything despite how broken he was on the inside. . . . . .that was, until a year ago, where i had to watch him lay down his life to save mine and give me this opportunity to come back and make things right. . . . .So I intend to make use of every last second of this new opportunity he gave me, and I'll make sure to cherish and love him. Jaune will grow into a formidable man, that much i know, and i know the road ahead won't be easy, but this time i'll be there for him, and i'll be damned if i let this world break him a second Time.
R_BY: . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Yang: Y'know. . . . . .you could just tell us if you didn't want to say what's going on.
Blake: Did you just come up with that? Cause that sounds like a really compelling narrative.
Weiss: Would you believe it if I also told you him he's the rusted knight from your favorite fairy tale?
Blake: Heh, that's a funny one. You should write for a living if you ever give up on Being a huntress.
Weiss: *shrugs* I only gave you the answer you asked for.
Ruby: Ohhh, I wonder what a grimm queen would look like. Maybe a giant spider lady with a biiiig head to control other grimm around her with her thoughts.
Weiss: *chuckles* Of course you'd think that.
Yang: *sigh* Well, nevermind all of that, if you don't wanna tell us what's going on we'll give you some space. Just. . . . .try not doing anything stupid, alright nICE-queen?
Weiss: I'll try my best.
She leaves the room, closing the door behind her only to see Jaune in the corridor wearing more casual clothes, looking through his scroll's selfie camera and nervously fiddling with his hair while mumbling something unintelligible. Many things passed through her mind at that moment, most weren't exactly pleasant, but as she stared at the boy whose biggest concern right now was trying to make himself not look stupid for a date, she couldn't help but feel an incredible warmth building up inside her chest.
Weiss: *giggles*
Jaune: W-Weiss!? *Pink* H-how long have you been there!?
Weiss: I don't know, how long have you been playing with your hair?
Jaune: I-i just. . . . . Y'know. . . . .it's getting a little too long and i-
He stopped as Weiss reached out for his head, brushing his hair with her hand and putting it the way it was normally.
Weiss: I like the longer hair. Also, don't try too hard to style it, it already looks perfect like this.
Jaune: W-well. . . .if you say so. You look really nice.
Weiss: Thanks, you look quite good too.
Jaune: hehe, thanks. Well. . . . should we-
"Miss schnee"
Jaune was cut by none other than the headmaster, who joined them shortly after with his mug in hand as always.
Weiss: Yes?
Ozpin: We looked into the matters you warned us about, and you'll be happy to know we got to isolate the little "surprise" they had hidden in the system for us. As of now me and a few others are going to miss Fall's room to. . . ."discuss" some matters, would you like to join us?
Weiss: It won't be necessary, I'm sure you're already doing what's necessary.
Ozpin: Very well, there's still more I would like to discuss but you seem to be busy at the moment. Please contact me once you're free.
Weiss: Will do.
Ozpin: A good evening for you, and for you as well mister Arc. *Leaves*
Jaune: . . . . . .what was that?
Weiss: Nothing much, don't worry about it.
Jaune: Uhmm. . . .okay. Should we go-!?
Weiss: *hugging his arm and smiling* Let's go.
And off they went to their date, the first of many more to come, Jaune didn't think this day would ever come but every glance at the ivory beauty hugging his arm proved him wrong and made his heart race inside his ribcage, he didn't know what he did to deserve this, but he knew he was going to thank the gods for it for the rest of his life

Prof. Schnee AU Concept
To be clear this isn't the only Au/ comic I'll put the model in but it is the one that comes to mind for me most often.
All of team RWBY are born into the previous generation. Weiss along with her brother Whitley secured and manage the SDC. Though in truth Whitley takes care of most of the actual work. Though she was far from dull she did have to admit that Whitley was solely groomed to manage the company while her time was decided between it and her combat training.
Weiss herself still had power and plenty of a say but her Huntress duties took priority... And obligations as a teacher as well, yes. She was a instructor at Beacon. Helping to groom the next generation into respectable Hunters.
Tumblr media
Mostly she was pleaded into it by her partner Ruby but still she took her job seriously.
Tumblr media
Which was more then she could say for the rest of her team! All three of them off gallivanting across Remnant taking missions. Honestly sometimes they could be such a headache. But she supposed Ozpin had sent them all on those missions...
Tumblr media
Regardless she was determined to perform no less admirably this year then any other. And considering that Pyrrha Nikos would be entering this year she believed it would be a very worthwhile year given her skill.
But there was always room for surprises like miss Valkyrie, who was frankly a Yang level ridiculous powerhouse.
Yes, this year would've been a valuable one even if those were the only two of note... But they weren't. No, the third would be...
"Please Go Out With Me!"
Tumblr media
Would be Jaune Arc, a paradoxically lacking student and yet one worth her admiration. He was a special case like Blake had been according to Ozpin. A boy who secured counterfeit transcripts to earn a chance to try out Initiation. Though whereas her teams resident Faunus had been a member of the White Fang mister Arc had been a civilian out in one of Remnant's frontier villages. A simple boy with some dreams of heroics and knighthood.
He was actually like her partner Ruby in several ways but with a father who denied his dreams instead of supporting them like Ruby had... That, that was something she could relate to, could sympathize with and it was not all.
He wanted to live up to his family's name, to bring honor to it, to be anything to stop being the one to be protected but to protect others Instead. He was many things, foolish, naïve and certainly stubborn… But he was brave. What else could you call a boy who entered the Emerald Forest prepared to face monsters but courageous.
Jaune Arc had a long way to go, had a tough road ahead of him, if she’d thought catching Ruby up on their studies back in the day was hard this would be a true trial. But, but she wanted him to succeed, she wasn’t the same girl she’d been back in the day, who viewed people so callously, so superficially. She saw how much Jaune wanted this, how willing he was to put his life on the line for complete strangers as he fought the Death Stalker.
Apparently he wasn’t the most studious student but she never had issues, he may have lacked proper knowledge of Dust in her class but he was always quick to learn and put in the effort. Offering to help however he could.
Then he was being bullied, and then he stopped it, she knew how, she saw the recordings, saw Winchester Threaten him with blackmail. Saw her student being used like a lackey and distant from his team… And then she saw him refuse to follow Cardin’s order when it affected someone else. And then witnessed him save said tormentor when his teammates had ran.
Jaune Arc just like her partner embodied what it meant to be a Huntsman, he just needed some help on the way… And then he asked her out.
Flustered, nervous, clearly embarrassed, it was a sight she wasn’t used to, every man and woman who courted her had done so with annoying confidence in their status or family ties, had saw her as a particularly beneficial tool to use or trophy to own or worst of all… A knot on the metaphorical belt.
But Jaune, despite the way he entered Beacon was a rather earnest man, which was why she would do this in the kindest but also most direct way possible. Because she remembered being rejected as well. And wanted him to suffer as little as possible.
"Jaune, I'm your teacher..." He looked sad but accepting.
Tumblr media
"R-right... I'm sorry I know it was wrong t-"
"That's why I don't want you going around and telling anyone." She blinked that the words she said it seeming to finally catch up with her brain her... Wait? That wasn't what she was supposed to say! Jaune seemed to be under the same impression as her thoughts as he spoke with a  dumbfounded look on his precious youthful face.
"Really!" Yes Really!? What was she doing accepting his confession, but once more before her conscious could interrupt she parted her lips again.
"Though it isn't against the rules that Beacon upholds it is heavily frowned upon Jaune." Damn her for studying said rules! No! Stop Looking At His Absolutely Beamimg Smile This Instant! Just Because He's A Cute Boy Doesn't Mean We Could Throw Caution To The Wind.
Honestly she couldn't believe she said yes... Moreso that she felt so, so damn giddy about it! Like she was a girl back in her Beacon Days in her first relationship... Okay so technically she was a girl/ woman at Beacon and this was her first relationship but that was beside the point...
She was his teacher and this was... Well, no it wasn't illegal given that Jaune upon passing Initiation was by all legal means a adult under Remnant's Huntsman regulations... But it was still unprofessional! She'd never do anything others could bring into question... Anymore.
Like going out and taking on International criminals, known terrorists cells and preforming vigilante activities while a student.
But all that was besides the point and in the past! She wouldn't play with this boy's heart! She'd do the proper thing and brea-
"Jaune, I hope you understand that I'm not some trollope to be played with I expect you to take this seriously." NO!!! She Did Not Mean That! Shut Up Subconscious!
And oh dear now he was shooting her a very determined, gaze that made her heart skip a beat.
Tumblr media
"Of course not! I'm serious about you miss Schnee!" Oh dear he was closing the distance, and being so assertive... Was, was he always so tall...

Why do you think RWBY v1-3 worked compared to the rest of it?
Hm.
Honestly a lot of the first three volumes doesn't - the pacing can be awful (and grinds to a halt within arcs dealing with Jaune), the writing decisions leave a lot of to be desired(and are beyond offensive at times).
To say what the first three volumes do well is to talk about what the volumes after dont.
The issue with V4 and onward is simple one:
Too many new redundant characters
I have been hammering on this point again and again - in a weird attempt to expand the world, the showrunners ended up filling it with things that overlap win purpose or outright have no purpose.
Generally if you want to have something happen and want to choose between existing character and new character as initiator, nine times out of ten it's better to go with an existing character.
For example, why did we need Salem's evil council of evil? Why did we need a whole team of villains on Salem's side that essentially fulfill same role and purpose as Cinder's group already did? They don't exactly do anything for the lore or the setting and most of their purpose is one-note - Hazel for example exists just to rage about Ozpin in a poorly executed attempt at making his intentions and role more ambiguous - but there are already plenty of characters who can fill that purpose, so why was Hazel, as a character made? Raven exists, Ironwood exists and is clearly having a crisis, even Haven's headmaster exists (let's say he does) - plenty of ways other characters can fulfill the same purpose as Hazel without Hazel existing. Same extends to the rest of Salem's group - Watts exists solely to "explain" the computer virus (why did we need it explained?) and to have a reason to go against Atlas (but Cinder already has a reason thanks to her backstory in-show???) and Tyrian is the same way.
Too many redundant story beats
The writing attempted to make the setting more complex, but in the end a lot of what's added has no real reason to be there - why do we need Relics when Maidens are already there? Even if we were to go with the same idea of Gods causing doomsday(as dumb as it is) the writing could just as easily have the exact same plotline with collecting Maiden powers, for example. So why have vaults and then relics on top of that?
The Gods are the same way too. Why have Gods at all when you can already comfortably just go with the idea of Salem getting Maidens powers to her side being just as catastrophic? Salem's backstory doesn't even need them - in fact if one were to remove the Gods and keep the backstory the same, the end result would be exact same story. But the show doesn't do that - instead, come V9, it adds ANOTHER layer of gods and magic trees and gives the god brothers a backstory that ALSO wasn't needed and doesn't do ANYTHING in terms of furthering the narrative.
Generally if there's a plot thread you'd want to do the first question to ask would be "Does this change ANYTHING for any of the characters?" - plot is an excuse to get characters through the story beats after all. In the case of God Brothers, the plot thread invents a new problem and then solves it - nothing changes.
Lost Focus
The show is titled RWBY for a reason.
Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang - that's the core of the show.
The show started with the color trailers focusing on them and their journeys. The Volume 3 ended with them each having their own issues to deal with and plot threads tying to those issues.
What do the Volumes that follow do with that set-up? Nothing.
Volume 4 is absolutely pointless in grand scheme of things.
Volume 5 is absolutely pointless in grand scheme of things.
Volume 6 is absolutely pointless in grand scheme of things.
In fact, I wrote about the story structure issues with V4 years ago
The narrative structure, at the basic level, is a game of Connect-the-Dots - you have specific story beats you want to reach that work in accordance with overall story and character outline - it's up for The Plot(tm) to lead the characters from one beat to the other.
The way RWBY works past V3 is by inventing a new problem that didn't and then resolving it, essentially staying in place. I sort of outlined it in the V4 structure chart in my write up in how nothing in that Volume serves any real purpose nor furthers the characters.
What does the mess at Haven Academy contribute to the story story that Beacon already haven't? Does what happen there affect the story going forward? No.
What does team RWBY and the whole absolutely dumb and boring mess with the mech and leviathan do for the story? Are there any lasting consequences from that happening? Nope.
What does the run-in with the Apathy do for the characterization? Are there any lingering psychological effects? Do we learn something new about how Grimm function or how the Eyes work? Are there any lingering implications or any story holes that the encounter slots in into? Absolutely nothing.
That's three big examples in those Volumes where the writing invents a new issue, resolves it and doesn't further characters or narrative by doing so.
In Connect-the-Dots, you don't stop hopping from dot to dot midway-through, you don't hop back and forth between existing dots. Story beats and character beats are beats for a reason - they move things forward, they affect things, they alter things. If you have something that leads the narrative back at the place it was before in then you might as well delete the entire thing.
Now this is not the same as characters being stuck in loops or the idea of repetition as storytelling device - repetition that the narrative is aware of WOULD be a story beat in on itself and this is not that.
In fact even going into Atlas arc - the endgame has almost nothing to do with the build up to it and would happen anyway even if most of the volumes leading to it were removed.
Anticlimactic Payoff
If the narrative is build up to something, the pay off should generally equal to the amount of time and focus spend on the build up (unless it's used as a contrast).
Yet in RWBY a lot of mysteries end up being more of matter-of-fact answers than revelations.
What happened to the moon? Oh something crashed into it.
Why are Ozpin and Salem the way they are? Gods did it.
Why is Raven angry at Ozpin? He...turned her into a bird?
What has been Raven up to? Nothing.
Is Ozpin shady or not? Eh, not really - he's just sort of there.
What's up with the creatures of Grimm? Gods did it.
All of these were teased and built up going forward and the actual revelations never justified the build up or teasing that came before.
None of those revelations did anything to further the narrative or develop characters.
It was as if the writers were going through a checklist of what needs to be revealed.
So, What about the first three Volumes?
Now, flip everything I wrote about V4 and onward upside down.
That's the first three Volumes.
The only characters that exist are the ones that have an use within the narrative.
The plot threads are revealed when they become relevant - Mt.Glenn comes up when it matters, for example. If anything there's not enough reveals.
One can easily trace the plot threads through the story - how Ruby's introduction to Beacon affects her dynamics with Weiss, how Jaune's and Ruby's struggles with unexpected positions of leadership affect the team formation, how the friction within the teams furthers the plot to crash into villains goals. And what's more - each mini-arc ties to the four leads and their characterization. Things don't just happen - each storyline starts with the character and ends with characters growing or their relationships changing.
The Payoff is extremely good - V3 takes every single thing the show did through the three volumes and makes use of it. Everything matters - Mt. Glenn exposition, Roman, WF stuff, Jaune's insecurities, Pyrrha's characterization, Yang's characterization, Blake's conflict, Ruby's growth and position int he story, Weiss growth, etc - everything gets used and everything affects the characters involved.
For all the flaws, for all the absolutely insensitive story decisions and bad jokes - the first three volumes manage to handle those key points well and the end result is far more enjoyable.
The volumes after don't.
While good action sequences helped one of many reasons I hold V1 through V3 dear to my heart is because the show pulled off something that was quite rare back then when those Volumes aired - delivering actual consequences and not being afraid of upsetting the status quo within the story.

Dude, I love this fanfic so much! I just wanted to ask where you got the idea from. Did you have any inspiration from anyone? Also, what's your favorite fanfic? And want do you recommend ?
AWE bless!! Thank you so much I'm glad you're enjoying it <33
So actually a good 80% of this is written from personal experience LOL I used to dance and was into drift building/racing in my late teens/early twenties! Most of the references or scenes in Midnight Menagerie are references to things I've seen or done in real life, OR stories friends have told me within the same field. (Nora is literally just a rebranding of this one mutual friend we had who just. Absolutely fucking unhinged) Like for example, the anticipated Hangover Chapter is just a retelling of an insane Summer weekend I had in 2017 ☠️ it's a personal delight being able to translate things into the narrative, even more so knowing people find my stupid, terrible decisions as amusing as I do in current times lol
My general rule of thumb is to write from experience. Things I understand either on a technical point or emotional connection. So, if you've read it in my work, it's probably something I've done LOL
Another reason I find drive in writing this type of narrative is that MM!Blake's type of dissociative PTSD is something I haven't seen much in media in general. I've seen people depict her in various ways (some of them good!), but none of them ever really apply directly to me, so I wanted to make something that I could relate to and how to properly navigate life, given the environmental circumstances. Plus some us need better examples on how to juggle mental illness as adults and also be in healthy long term relationships because damn I have zero reference LOL
For the fic recs, oh boy I have so many LOL time to be a pathetic fangirl on main but okay here's the ones that immediately jump to mind (also heads up most of these are mature or explicit rating);
Certified Kaeli Fresh Fics
Let You See My Wilder Side (If I Can See Your Bones)
We all know this one but it is, hands down, my favorite piece of literature of all time. Masterfully crafted and a timeless classic worth several rereads (and I have. Embarrassingly so)
Written by @/lucytara on tumblr || @/explosive_sky on twitter
honestly all her works are immaculate and beyond compare. Also a major fan of I Have A Bullet With Your Mouth On It (That was first RWBY fanfic I ever read LMAO a friend recommended it to me before I even watched the show) I aspire to write like her some day. It's what got me writing fanfiction in the first place. So, credit goes to Erin for inspiring me to post my manuscripts at all. Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation. I have two book series in the process of being published now and I wouldn't have had the nerve to do it had it not been for this specific fic.
2. One Day At A Time
Also one of the earlier fics I read before getting into the show LOL I love all of @/Frenchsoda 's work, the full list is also worth checking out. I'm a fan of disgruntled Blake who doesn't understand her attraction to Yang but it's so god damn sweet ugh
3. Fucking In Love
Written by @/Set_WingedWarrior and @/Softlight
This one circulates a lot in my social circles. Everyone I know LOVES this one and after reading it earlier this year, now I see why. As someone who worked in the sex industry for a brief period of time, this one's not only accurate but also A DELIGHT to read. The premise is fun, captivating, and worth the wait. I actually discovered a chapter update earlier this year and sent the gc into hysterics because we thought the fic was dead LMAO props to these authors!! They're doing an amazing job and deserve praise
4. You're A Mountain, Full Of Glory
written by champion author @/lescousinsdangereux
I should just preface already that every book Blake reads in MM is a fanfiction that exists because I love Easter eggs. Everyone knows I had Blake reference this in chapter 3 LOL but it's equally as immaculate as Erin's work. I LOVED especially the dynamic between Weiss, Yang, and Ruby in this one. Baby, we're complicated fucking murdered me 😭 also that fuckass Christmas scene, that's my favorite Christmas song LMAO
5. The Home Inside Your Head
Written by the ever skilled @/writeriguess . I found this fic by accident by seeing fanart for it floating around on this site. Got curious, picked at it, and. Oh, my god. It's not very often my brain gets scratched in the right way, but boy this one does it. This author does something specifically unique I haven't seen many do before, and I applaud them for it. There's great detail on the scenes that matter, and the fucking organic build up between Blake and Yang is just. God. Chef's kiss. Truly. It feels so god damn natural and healthy and it's already crossing off several of my agendas already. Give this one a read and give the author some love. SENSUAL FACE TOUCHING? CHAPTER 13????? BOOOOOOOYYYYYYY I'm normal about it
6. You'd Be Paranoid Too (If Everyone Was Out To Get You)
Written by @/WabaJaba_ on twitter
Okay so this one's completely different than what I've previously listed but HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS IT A THRILLER. It doesn't nearly have the amount of love and attention it truly deserves. A friend of mine recommended it to me because it shook them so fucking hard they were in total brainrot hell for a MONTH. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY LMAO God I was obsessed with this for weeks myself. It obviously lives up to it's rating, horror fics aren't for everyone. But if you're able to read it, good lord you should. It's chilling, captivating, and had me on the edge of my fucking seat the entire time. Both endings are good, I still can't decide which one I prefer but RAH I will make sure this is seen god dammit
and last but certainly not least
7. You And Me and This Temptation
written by talented author @/ProfessorSpork
Okay this one was an accidental find as well. A friend sent it to me because THEY found it by accident, I clicked on it for later, went looking for a completely different fic that I mistook for this one, started skimming and realized 'wait a minute LMAO I don't recognize this'. But the thing you have to understand is I hate reading. I'm not a reader, I'm picky and it needs to be worth sitting down for long periods of time. This is one of the rare instances where I was so captivated by it I kept reading more and more from the middle where I landed, and eventually just said ykw let me just start from the beginning cus LMAO context.
This one is, by far, one the healthiest and loveliest depictions of first times I have ever seen. This shit was so inspiring to me that it literally kickstarted an essay in someone's DMs why depictions like this are so important. I didn't have this experience irl, and why MM is written the way it is is because its meant to serve as a lighthouse for those who, like me, haven't. This fic however I feel like should be a required read for anyone getting into relationships for the first time because if it's not like how these two interact, LEAVE IT. This is the standard. This is amazingly written, it's the closest I've ever seen canon Yang and Blake be written to date. The fucking souvenir bit 😭 NJKFGNFJKGNGJ killed me, I was kicking my feet laughing for a good minute. This is the kind of standard everyone should look at and go 'yeah, I want what they have' BECAUSE IT'S CORRECT. LOUD CORRECT BUZZER NOISES
Honestly everything in my bookmarks is certified Kaeli Fresh but these 7 are my top faves. They're probably also really commonly known I'm sure but LMAO like I said I don't read much 😭 which is heavily ironic considering I write myself. Anyway this ended up way longer than I intended but LOL <3 <3 go give these incredible authors love!!

One of the reasons I think it’s SUPER interesting, and honestly just love what the writers opted to do with Jaune this volume with the whole ‘aged-up’, ‘stable-time-loop’, ‘Rusted Knight’ twist is that it actually addresses the biggest issue I had with Jaune falling into the void with Team RWBY in the first place. And seems to be doing so in a brilliantly clever fashion.
See, one of the big things that made dropping Team RWBY into the void at the end of Volume 8 and stranding them in the Ever After so interesting was that it also cut them off from the fairly substantial amount of friends and allies they’d accumulated over the last several volumes. I mean, for as much as our heroines may have had the odds stacked against them in Volumes 7 or 8, they were hardly facing those odds alone.
So by sending Team RWBY to the Ever After, the story separates our heroines from all of the help they’ve had so far. Taking away the support network they’ve had and placing them in this new, unfamiliar environment alone with really only each other to truly trust and rely on. And seeing how Team RWBY adapts and copes with this whole new situation.
So you can see how dropping Jaune into the Ever After as well might at first feel like the story is diluting this concept, if only a little bit. Sure our heroines might have been separated from most of their friends and allies, but at least they still have one of their oldest and most dependable friends with them, right?
But with the twist of ‘Old Man Jaune’, the show completely flips this idea and really only isolates Team RWBY even more. As well as possibly giving them even more problems.
Because this Jaune is very much NOT the same friend that Team RWBY knows so well. Sure he’s familiar, but it’s clear that his many, MANY years in the Ever After have changed Jaune. He’s older, jaded, strung out, exhausted and very possibly more than a little twisted and unhinged. Simply put, this new Jaune is very much NOT the Jaune Team RWBY knows, and is just as much NOT OKAY.
All this means that I’m pretty sure Team RWBY is going to quickly find that they might NOT be able to depend on or even trust this new Jaune like they did the Jaune they knew.
I mean, I think it’s MORE than a little likely that Jaune could wind up presenting a major conflict for Team RWBY. Perhaps not to the point of Jaune being a full-blown villain this volume, but I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to imagine some kind of fight breaking out between Team RWBY and Jaune.
Just look at how Jaune comes off more than a little unhinged whenever the Curious Cat shows up. Sure, he has his reasons, but I think it’s pretty apparent there is a lot more going on in the Ever After than Jaune knows, or perhaps is willing to admit. Like how much do you want to bet that Jaune’s apparent hatred for the Curious Cat is fueled less by anything CC actually did, and more by Jaune projecting his own crippling guilt over not being able to help Alyx and Luis, and of course his killing of Penny?
After all, considering what we’ve seen with Qrow, Ozpin, Leonardo, Ironwood and more, should we really be so surprised that RWBY would present us with some older, seasoned veteran who at first appears to have things figured out and can be a great help to our heroines, but turns out to be a very broken man with a whole host of issues who creates more than a few PROBLEMS for our heroines to deal with?
In short, the story dropped Team RWBY into an all knew, unfamiliar and dangerous environment with one of their oldest and most dependable friends and allies. Only to turn said friend and ally into most likely a source of yet more conflict that only isolates Team RWBY further and makes their journey all the more difficult.

Whiteknight vs CRWBY Writers
First things first, me as Whiteknight supporter will it suck if it doesn't happen?
Yes.
Will it ruin my RWBY experience as a whole?
No.
On the few times I've gone on Twitter and poked around the internet, there is still alot of discomfort towards Weiss and Jaune being in a romantic relationship. Mainly is the same point that I saw most of the time "CRWBY already confirmed it will not happen." I honestly find it super annoying that people resort to the same argument being "this person said this so it must be true."
At the end of the day if the writers really don't want jt to happen then so be it, again it's not going to effect my overall enjoyment. On the plus side I see this as another Blake and Yang situation. CRWBY being super vague on if the bees would become canon. Probably they mightwake up one day and think "you know what screw it make Whiteknight canon"
On a lighter note here are some meme

I am really surprised that it seems no major time fuckery happened between time spent in the everafter and time passing on planet remnant. It seems like /at most/ a week or two has passed in remnant but it might honestly be a one to one on only a few days have passed. I really thought rwbyj would be coming home to major time loss like a few months because this show is so mean and the hits simply do not stop coming
i have a lot of questions about the time skip bc of this:
Tumblr media
rwbyxjl2 suggests that it’s only been a few weeks since part one, which might just mean from team rwby’s perspective (ie, the elapsed time on remnant while they were in the ever after is not included)?
but by the time they get back, amity looks like that. it’s been converted into a fuckoff huge battleship (<- confirmed in screenshots of the script i think eddy shared on twitter last year) which is a very time- and labor-intensive process. i also simply do not believe it is feasible for this work to have been completed in vacuo, with everything so in shambles.
so my working theory right now is that qrow, robyn, and the ace-ops rendezvoused with maria and pietro onboard amity and helped pilot and/or haul it to argus, where they rendezvoused with cordovin, who has the means to take over the amity project and get it into working order as a military vessel with a labor force drawn from argus. (giving the citizens of argus a massive project like this to focus on will also be good for morale, win-win)
global comms are still down. once the plan was squared away with cordo, qrow and robyn and the ace-ops booked it straight to vacuo to update the coalition on the pledged future help from argus. all of that would have taken a few days to a week or two, tops.
(i imagine pietro and maria stayed behind in argus to help with amity; pietro’s expertise is most useful there, and she’d want to be there for him while he grieved and worried about penny.)
qrow and the rest aren’t there during the initial memorial service at the start of the epilogue but are present in the later gathering in winter’s monologue; because the mantelian civilians are present in the first but not in the second, i assume this is not an error but rather there was a second, smaller gathering once qrow, robyn, and the ace-ops arrived and learned that rwby and jaune were gone. so i don’t think the monologues/montages are happening concurrently; they’re in sequence.
grimm attack vacuo for days. things settle down for a while, with tensions still high. merc and tyrian spring the twins within a couple days of things starting to calm down, then qrow and everyone shows up not too long after with news about amity and help on the way if they can hold out for a few months. a little while after that, the refugee ship from vale arrives and grimm hammer the city again. an indeterminate amount of time passes—i think it has to be a few months, to give the amity construction time to finish and travel halfway around the world—before reinforcements arrive from argus, boosting morale and probably giving the coalition just enough of an edge to reestablish a sense of normalcy, with the result that the crown’s skyrocketing popular support plateaus. then team rwby and jaune return.
which is a fair bit to catch up on, but also not too bad, and tracks with “when you’re needed most”—the blacksmith probably sent rwbyj to the exact moment when the coalition stabilized so that they could help figure out a plan for what comes next.

I really don’t know if I’ll ever stop finding it kinda funny that the emo and the priss who were deeply mired in political and class issues ended up having less significance to the fate of the world than the bubbly sisters from the “presumably” middle class, small town family.
Like, I get that all of RWBY are significant to the world now, but the fact that Weiss and Blake both went to Beacon thinking that they had the crushing weight of the world on their shoulders, only to meet two seemingly happy-go-lucky sisters whose family ending up being revealed to be DEEP in a “fate of the world” battle. Is just kinda funny to me.
Even more interesting is that the two girls who thought the weight of the world was on them are actively helping to support the girls who really do. Which, honestly is a damn important role in of itself.
Yang, even more than Ruby stands out. Ruby was committed from day one, even if she was compartmentalizing her doubts and fears. But Yang? She's a girl who admitted that she didn't really have a goal beyond the adventure of it all.
"I wanna be a Huntress, not really because I want to be a hero, but because I want the adventure. I want a life where I won't know what tomorrow will bring. And that'll be a good thing."
And now she's the most committed to protecting Remnant's citizens and standing up to even the most powerful entity on the planet.

A RWBY x Parahumans crossover idea:
Which members of the RWBY cast would each member of the Slaughterhouse 9 try to recruit for their "Try-Outs" the way they did in Brockton Bay?
Hatchet-Face: Honestly, this one's a complete write-off. He died and was turned into Hatchet-Job offscreen so he never got a chance to choose a replacement because he was the one being replaced. Null and Void....But if I had to say anyone, probably Tyrian for matching serial killer vibes and Power/Aura nullification.
Mannequin: By far the easiest one to figure out; he'd pick Ironwood for the same reason he picked Armsmaster in canon.
Crawler: The important thing to remember about Crawler's selections is that he's not really looking for someone to join; he's looking for someone who's gonna be able to put up enough of a fight against him to help him evolve himself further. With that in mind there's only one natural answer and Crawler is actually crazy enough to try it: He'd pick Salem, just to see if he can outlast her.
Bonesaw: Riley's an artist first and foremost....I can imagine her pouting when Crawler picks Salem first because she wanted to pick the lady who makes her own monsters. After that I think her second choice, considering that the Nine do enjoy putting heroes through their try-outs.....Would be Pietro; because she can make zombies, but he amputated part of his soul and made a whole new soul out of it.
Burnscar: Burnscar forewent her chance to nominate someone in order to talk to Labyrinth who she was in the asylum with.....That does give me something to work with. If Burnscar's gonna pick someone, either to nominate or to effectively veto other from nominating it's gonna be someone she feels a connection to or an affinity with and there is a certain fire-breathing orphan with a lot of issues in Remnant isn't there.....I think Burnscar would pick Cinder, if only to stop another member from doing it.
Shatterbird: I feel like Shatterbird would originally be interested in Cinder, glass weapons and a single-minded drive and she's capable; which is what Shatterbird seems to look for, she picked Hookwolf because he's a fighter. Failing that and given that Tyrian being picked by Hatchet-Man is basically a placeholder, I think Shatterbird would kill Tyrian and use that to bring Mercury in.
Siberian: Manton likes outcasts and people who remind him of his daughter....I toyed with the idea of Penny, just because "She came back from the dead" might give Siberian some hope but instead I settled on Nora....Because I kinda see Ren and Nora & Emerald and Mercury as being two sides of the same coin in some ways and having one half of each pair be targeted by the Nine opens up some fun ideas.
Cherish: Okay so Cherish wanted Alec specifically because it was Alec....But, I think she'd go for Whitley. The Schnee family is a mess, there's parallels to be drawn between their family Semblance and the fact that all of Heartbreaker's kids' powers have a theme; so Cherish would go for the Schnee who reminds her the most of Alec, who just so happens to be the one least equipped to defend himself and was also his Daddies' favourite.
Jack Slash: Ruby.....Okay, this sounds like a cop-out because protag Vs villain leader match-up but hear me out. Jack gave up his nomination to make his deal with Golem but before that he went to Oni-Lee first, didn't like what he saw and then went after Purity....He wants powerful people and after moulding Bonesaw into what he wanted her to be I think he'd see Ruby, someone who would be incredibly useful to him on Remnant as a new pet project.
