Hey there! This is a Rocky Rickaby x fem! Or gn! Reader hc req so i hope you don't mind the specifications for the reader i have lol. This is gonna be similar to the Rocky Rickaby hc with the socialite but its more independent.

Reader probably grew up in poverty but then like, moved to america to start and worked there. Basically a fresh start, things were rocky at first but they got the hang of it. But then somehow, for some reason, reader managed to be the most successful kitty cat in america. But despite being very rich and very successful, that doesn't mean they won't have envious people or rivalries. (Or admirers, bcus y not?).

But since this is fiction, reader is girlboss and managed themselves and is still financially stable, mentally? Probably not. But that's why reader LOVES Rocky right? Even if Rocky is this poor, stupidly deranged and insane, sad cat living in his (well, the lackadaisy funded it) own car. He still treats reader as he would to anyone. Even more so if reader is an artist like him.

I also feel like reader would secretly fund the lackadaisy and be best friends with Wick or sumn (i can hear Rocky's maniacal laughing rn). Btw, sorry if this was a lot for you to take in. • You had your admirers across the nation, as well as your enemies.

• There were more than a few men who thought they could get one over on you, and while they still despise you and your work, you got the last laugh.

• After so many years of moving from place to place, it became second nature. And that's when you made it to St. Louis, Missouri. The plan was to only stay for a year, maybe more, if it was a decent place.

• You even managed to land yourself an invitation to a local speakeasy from an admirer.

• One night, you finally made your way down to the Lackadaisy, and you got to talking with a businessman, Sedgwick Sable.

• The two of you had a pretty good conversation, becoming fast friends over a mixture of success and hating most rich guys.

• And then a cat ran through the door, panting as he tried to carry about a dozen bottles of booze.

• After getting a bit of assistance, he made his way to the bar and sat at the stool next to you.

• It looked like he had been running for most of the night, and you could swear you smelt something burnt.

• Naturally, you talked to him. If his entrance was one thing, his normal conversations were about ten times that level of chaos.

• He didn't recognize you, too, or atleast pretended not too.

• You ended up finding out his name was Rocky Rickaby, and when you told him who you were, he was rather indifferent.

• That was certainly something new, and it intrigued you further.

• You asked him why he was being so...casual.

• The rhyme was an unexpected, but not unwelcome response.

• Honestly, you wish more people had his attitude.

• From then on, you became friends. But eventually things changed.

• You ended up continuing your stay in St. Louis, partly because you grew to love the place, and mostly for Rocky.

• You ended up falling for him, and you know what, you had every right to.

• When you were younger you wished for attention, especially as your family crumpled around you.

• However the love and even hate you got from your work never truly satisfied that.

• Rocky did, though. He was sweet, a little insane, sure, but overall he was amazing.

• So, you crafted the ultimate plan.

• You made sure Rocky got a good amount of sleep the night before, offering up your bed for the night.

• It was way better than the car.

• Then, you spent the day together. You got him new clothes, took him out on a joyride around the city, and ended the night on a bridge over the Mississippi River.

i began to write in general since i was around 14 like any other emo kid kdjdjsks and o began to write fics when a friend asked me for one as a birthday present. it was written in a hurry and it’s not my favorite but i really enjoyed doing it. i posted that exact same fic on their birthday

2. which of your characters do you typically resonate most closely with? do you base any characters off of yourself?

it depends the fic i guess. and not really, i think the closest i’ve been to do that is in the rockstar au (coming to the @bottomlouisficfest very soon), i put one or two of my old insecurities in h so he could connect better and wouldn’t be persieved as just an asshole-y dude cause i don’t like that and louis don’t deserve that uwu🌸

hands down the ice prince fic. and funny thing is, i already had my prompt for the fic fest but i just couldn’t stop thinking about one particular prompt about a bratty prince and an alpha who hated omegas and the amount of POSSIBILITIES that had. two days later or so, the mods of the fest gave us the opportunity to pick another prompt if we wanted and the rest is HISTORY

How I feel about this character - I love him so much!

All the people I ship romantically with this character - Grantaire. This is one of my OTPs. The only other person I occasionally ship Enjolras with is Marianne Michel, Louise Michel’s mother, to give Louise Michel even more reason to call herself Enjolras Michel, and to make Enjolras and Louise Michel’s meeting really fun.

My non-romantic OTP for this character - Enjolras, Combeferre and Courfeyrac = the Triumvirate

My unpopular opinion about this character - I really don’t think I have any unpopular ones about Enjolras

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon - that his emeute was successful - eg that he managed to get enough presence and news, or maybe one or two of the National Guard troops, that Louis Phillippe had to actually deal with the Friends of the ABCs. (It would be too much to hope that 1848 could have happened sooner and that upon mention of the Revolution, Louis Phillippe abdicated and ran off to England and his grandson didn’t want the throne that bad, or however it happened.)

(Part 1/6) Can I vent to you?? The problem with Liam's team - they don't market him as a musician, they market him as a personality. Now, I personally love Liam's personality (or the sliver of his public persona he chooses to share with us :)) but when you want to make him a youtuber/tiktoker/influencer and all that entails while barely focusing on music (I think fashion is a good pairing w. music, my feelings about the Hugo brand/how the shoots with Liam were handled aside...) but if you

(Part 2/6) go visit the Kin Partners home page, you'll see what I mean. All their clients are athletes, except Liam. And the picture they chose for him was one from the Hugo shoot where he's lying in bed. With athletes, it's all about getting those endorsement deals  - so I get the Hugo deal. And it's good that Kin is "trying" to be tech savvy with the ticktok presence, and I think live streaming is great, especially with the current state of the world. BUT. But. The music has slid so far

(Part 3/6) down the priority list. And by that I mean LIAM's solo music. He did a LOT for Midnight, and I wonder if that is only because he was paired with Alesso. Every time he sings - where is Remember? Where is Say it All? Where is Live Forever?? His EP that shall not be named?? I've been thinking about this next part a lot:  I think 1d will never get back together, and I think that's a good thing. (if people disagree that's fine of course)  And I think, if Liam wants to sing some 1D songs

(part 4/6) that is fine too! As long as that's what HE wants. Maybe he doesn't want to sing much from his album or from his EP - and that's fine too, we obviously will never really know the truth. I think Liam is an adult with SOME agency in his decisions - but I also think he is a die-hard people pleaser/perfectionist (this is all conjecture/probably projection on my part lol) so I think he is willing to give a lot of ideas/things a try. And I honestly don’t have much to add because all of this is like a direct line to my heart! I really don’t disagree with anything you said. Kin is absolutely out of their element with Liam, and their inability to tailor their strategy to a different kind of client is baffling! You’d think someone on their team would want to take up the challenge instead of just going the typical route. (But I guess money is money, however you get it.)

I also agree about Liam’s personality. I think he so badly wants everyone to feel seen and important (perhaps because of how he was treated in the past) (projection on my part too lmao), that he might sacrifice a little of his own wants and needs for it. Like his willingness to still talk about 1D and sing those songs. As fond as he is of those days, I think he does it because he knows it makes people happy.

And yes to what you said about comparing all 5! I’m definitely guilty of that, I’ll admit it. But it just feels better to treat them as they are, 5 entirely separate entities who just happen to come from the same place, so to speak. It’s hard to see some get opportunities while the others just don’t, but it doesn’t preclude good things happening for the others. And those are the things to celebrate. Such a great and healthy attitude to have!!!

assuming this means of 1d -- definitely louis just in terms of personality, mindset, etc but i also identify with harry in a lot of ways too. if this is also referring to in fics then i tend to identify most with whomever i’m writing from (perspective) since... i’m the only writing them lol. 

f: share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

oh geez... there’s a few i could have chosen for this but i decided to pick the one i’ve been thinking about recently:

“Yeah,” says Harry. He runs a hand through his hair. “Anyways, that got me thinking about soulmates more. I still think soulmates aren’t inherently romantic but I do think there’s a reason that most of them do end up together romantically - it’s kind of a shitty revelation considering the proof is all around us but it feels important. I’ve just been so stubborn all these years, maybe a little bit pessimistic. I hated that it felt like the universe was taking a choice away from you because I always felt like love and loving someone was something you can’t control, while at the same time being a choice - as in you choose to pursue and be with someone. I thought soulmates took away that choice.”

Louis nods. He was the same.

“But turns out I’ve had it all wrong. Soulmates - these marks - they may tell us who our soulmates are but they aren’t a condemnation like I always thought. It’s a sign, that’s all it is. But you can ignore signs too. Or you can choose to follow them. It’s still a choice, soulmates are still a choice,” says Harry, slowly speaking more and more urgently. He leans in close and grabs Louis’ hand, pressing kisses to his fingers. “And I choose you.”

there’s a few reasons why but i just mostly feel like this whole scene/conversation really got to the crux of the story which was harry’s internalized resentment towards soulmates which influenced all of his actions/decisions in the fic. it also represents something that i truly believe in too: love is a choice. i could go into a ramble forever about my views on that topic but i’ll refrain. i just really like this whole sequence because i find it fleshed out and honest - it’s been like eight/nine months since i’ve posted this fic but i still find this version of harry to be one of my most complex (and personal favorites). 

i: do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

lol well - i can’t think of anything that actually fits the criteria of ‘guilty.’ i guess ones that i personally include a lot in fics without care of being repetitive would be: jealous harry, harry calling louis ‘baby,’ angst and hurt/comfort, supernatural elements, d/s undertones/elements... idk. 

k: what’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with? 

tbh i don’t think anything could ever beat dlimb or fbab but there are a few other angsty wips i have that have similar tones... most notably all the exes to lovers fics on my list sjksks destruction fic, the actors au i recently added...

top 5 nick on-air moments? 💘

Oh GOD anon this is so difficult (and I love that you have asked other people too so we can all enjoy amazing moments). I could answer this with Nick and Harry moments twice over. The pre-Breakfast moments with H which have been helpfully collected here by @lordendsavior, Call and Deletes with Harry like ‘tell her you’ve fallen in love with me (x), every single moment Nick calls Harry ‘popstar’ (e.g. ‘hello popstar’ (x)), when Nick used science to work out why Harry Styles is so fit, the spinach and feta filo pie stories (x), Lads FM (x) and so many other examples of their amazing chats over the years (x). I also want to include the handful of interviews Nick has done with Louis as per my Tomlinshaw Ship Primer here, because they have all been lovely. But I will be good and resist making this all about my other faves or RPF ships, because Nick has some QUALITY on-air moments all by himself, so with one exception, I haven’t included any of those classic moments. Here goes!

#1. BRITS HYPE. BRIT Awards Straight Through Crew (2013). Like Nick I grew up with the BRIT Awards and they were so huge at the peak of Brit Pop, the Blur and Oasis beef, Jarvis Cocker getting arrested, that Spice Girls Union Jack dress and so on. I love that Nick gets that people would much prefer a less slick show if it means they can enjoy straight through crew madness the day after. I love when Rita came in and Stormzy arrived with a load of pizza, Fiona’s terrible first hour and still on a mad one Haim, with bonus Troye Sivan being like...what is happening, go to bed?? But there was no better post-BRITs moment than the one with Harry Styles and his diamond encrusted bottle of vodka, in which Ian hates them, nobody is feeling okay hun and the show was peak radio brilliance. #2. NICK’S AMAZING STORIES. Nick’s No Good Very Bad Day. This does have a slight Harry mention but the reason I include this is all about Nick. One of my favourite things about Nick is when he tells stories. Some of his stories are so ridiculous, like the times he talks about mad nights out, but I also love his stories about more mundane things, when he has Opinions on something random (Nick on Rage Against the Answer Machine is a gift), the times he gets salty about something or someone, stories about his family and young Nick trying on his mum’s heels or melting his brother’s Porsche soap because he’s a demon, and, of course, the stories he tells about his dogs which are endlessly funny and charming. It was so hard to pick just one for my ‘Nick tells good stories’ category, but this is one of my personal faves. It’s hilarious and I will never tire of listening to it. Full bad day audio here. 

#3. CELEBRITY INTERVIEWS. The Jake Gyllenhaal Saga. Nick’s interview style doesn’t work with everyone, but I love his conversational, chatty way of interviewing, and when he has a rapport with the person he’s interviewing it’s absolute gold. One of my recent favourites have been his interview with Jake Gyllenhaal (clipped up here). The subsequent Jake love-in that followed was AMAZING, from caller Jade and Nick appreciating Jake’s amazing face (x) (bonus Nick having a giggle fit), the montage of Nick’s love for Jake as compiled by Fiona (x), all the Jake appreciation (x) (x), the anxiety inducing email saga (x), (x) and Nick asking Jake to send him flowers on Valentine’s Day (x). Amazing content. 

#4. NICK DOES STUFF FOR CHARITY. Nick GrimCLAW (2015). Nick has done some awesome on-air things but this was particularly excellent. I’m laughing so hard I have nothing else to say about this. Nick is dressed as a crab in central London and it is THE BEST. More video content here.

#5. RIDICULOUS GAMES. Hide and Seek (2018). Some of Nick’s games I’ve been less fond of (hiiii Hunt the Sausage) but others, like Showquizzness and Call and Delete have been brill. I don’t think I’ve loved anything as much as a nationwide game of Hide and Seek though. Honestly, this whole thing was a gift from start to finish. Not only was Nick on the radio for nearly 24 hours (this should be a regular thing please) but it was just such light-hearted fun, seeing everyone get all excited about it, so much Nick social media content and radio content, plus the Nick + Greg duo, who I always love together. I think it lasted the perfect amount of time and the show Nick and Greg did together afterwards when they were both knackered and over it was also absolute gold. Huns in Hiding was hands down one of my fave radio moments of 2018. The highlights have been clipped up here (x).

What’s the first song you heard by 6? (The Jesus & Mary Chain) I think the first song I heard and consciously knew was them was probably “Sidewalking” bc John Peel played it a lot, but I am sure I had heard “Just Like Honey” before that. It honestly might have been their cover of “My Girl” bc I heard that on John Peel too.

What’s your favourite song by 8? (Kraftwerk)  I have been in love with “Europe Endless” since the moment I heard it, and it will always be special to me bc of Ellis. Also “Franz Schubert” is gorgeous and I’m currently in love with “Ohm Sweet Ohm.”

What kind of impact has 1 had on you? (Happy Mondays/Black Grape) I actually think they had a huge impact on me subliminally. When I worked at Starbucks, one of our regulars, Louis, also loved U2 and I would burn him copies of all the remastered U2 albums and he would burn me CDs of bands he loved in high school in the 80s, which included the Waterboys, Joy Division, the Stone Roses, the Wonder Stuff, and Happy Mondays. At that time I pretty much only listened to Bruce and U2. I was immediately intrigued by Happy Mondays bc they sounded so unlike anything I’d heard and just so odd. When I think back on it now, they were the first band I got into that is like a lot of the stuff I still find the most interesting today. They also were included on The World’s End soundtrack and I was so excited that I listened to it a lot, and that kinda set the foundation for me getting more into britpop and Blur. :)

What are your favourite lyrics by 5? (The Replacements) Umm god, all of “Androgynous” and “Alex Chilton” hmmm but also “hold my life, until I’m ready to use it” from “Hold My Life” and god, “the ones who love us best, are the ones we’ll lay to rest, the ones who love us least, are the ones we’ll die to please” from “Bastards of Young.” Yeah, those are good ones.

How many time have you seen 4 live? (Noel Gallagher) Three times! Once on the Chasing Yesterday tour and twice for Who Built The Moon?

ALL OF THEIR SONSG MAKE ME SAD!! nahhh just kidding. “Here” makes me really sad bc it feels very emotionally real and also bc there is a cover of it at the end of the movie about David Foster Wallace. Also “Gold Soundz” bc it sounds like the ache of happier times and shit. Idk why their songs make me really emotional.

How did you get into 2? (The Fall) JOHN PEEL!!! Actually that isn’t true!! I got into them bc Mark E. Smith is on the Gorillaz song “Glitter Freeze” and I guess I heard something about them from research I was doing for that mod project bc that was when I watched a BBC documentary on them bc youtube suggested it. But I didn’t hear any of their songs until I started listening to John Peel. The first ones I heard were “Guest Informant!” “Kurious Oranj” and “New Big Prinz” I believe and I was already in love by the time I got halfway through “Kurious Oranj”

How did you get into 10? (The Chameleons) Greg told me to listen to them bc they are probably his favorite band ever. He said if I liked early U2 and Echo & the Bunnymen I would like them and that all three albums they made are perfect and he was right! :)

Yes, my darling nonny, I absolutely do.

Tomas loves nothing more than to nap with his head in Marcus’ lap, and Marcus loves nothing more than petting him quietly to sleep. Doesn’t matter where they are: motel room, in the truck, trapped in a room with a demon who’s quieted enough for one of them to catch a few moments with their eyes closed…

On nights when they get to sleep in an actual bed, Marcus craves being held by Tomas. At first he was afraid to ask for such a comfort, but now all it takes is a look and Tomas knows exactly what he needs.

Somewhere between St. Louis and Kansas city, they adopt a cat. Or should I say, a cat adopts them. Just hops right in the truck and neither one of them has the heart to kick the poor, skinny thing out.

Tomas starts calling the cat Marcus because, “He looks just like you.”

The name sticks and now Marcus has no idea if Tomas is calling for him or the cat.

It doesn’t really matter tho because Marcus and his kitty twin become inseparable and are only ever apart when they’re busy with the whole sending demons back to hell thing.

Tomas kisses Marcus for the first time in the middle of an argument. It seems like the best way to shut him up, but also? He’s just wanted to do it for a very long time.

Marcus finds every excuse he can to smooch Tomas after that.

MarcusCat just did something cute? SMOOCHES. Beautiful sunrise? SMOOCH TIME. Demon just said something particularly hurtful? We’d better smooch to make it better.

But most of all Marcus just really, really loves kissing Tomas tenderly on the forehead. Seeing his face soften and hearing his little sigh becomes for Marcus the greatest sign of God’s presence and love.

3. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?

The hardest to write, plot-wise was definitely I Am the Blinking Light. My Lady and the Tramp AU had a clearly defined trajectory because i was obviously following the beats from the movie. My werewolf fic came out so naturally, i always knew my next step the entire way through. But with the ghost fic i didn’t write it chronologically because i was letting myself me led by whatever parts of the story came to me first. It meant that my final stage of writing was sewing together all the disjointed parts of the story that i’d written, and trying to figure out how they met up to form a cohesive plot. Some of them linked easily and others needed a lot of stitching inbetween to make sure they could come together. As i said, the end result made me really happy, but writing non-chronologically is difficult for me and only ever as last resort when i’m finding it hard to move forward with my writing.

7. Least favourite plot point/chapter/moment?

Boy! Does this mean the hardest to write, or just a moment that didn’t come together in a way i wish it had, or just something that i think is extremely sad and painful fjflsdfs i’m gonna go for a moment that maybe combines them. Writing the scene when Aunt Sophie slapped Harry and he ran away in We Could Live This Life Forever was... just a nightmare of a scene to write, and def one of the most upsetting moments too i guess. Trying to make that moment palatable, believable and work within the structure of the story took me probably a month. That sequence alone was the slowest part of writing that fic. I think the final product works, but its still a struggle i remember vividly. 

8. Favourite plot point/chapter/moment?

I think actually... i mean idk if its my favourite but definitely one of my most satisfying moments was when Louis wiped out and was consequently busted trying to fix Liam’s christmas lights at the end of Christmas Won’t Be the Same This Year. Like i don’t wannt brag but i was genuinely laughing the entire time i wrote that final sequence and it still makes me laugh to think about.
