Just some thoughts about recent WEBTOON discourse from an originals creator. I recognize my inherent bias in this situation.
But please recognize that saying "fuck you" to a company means supporting the workers, not making them out to be unfortunate suckers... "would have/could have/should have's" don't get people out of situations.
"I never would have signed with them" is an incredibly tone-deaf thing to say. "this is why you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket" is true, but it doesn't help people who are contractually obligated into exclusivity.
Most of us are making merch, running patreons, trying to get book deals, etc... and most of us aren't able to stop working and still pay our bills. we're trying. we'd all love to, but we can't.
If you really want things to be better, maybe try not putting down the people who are in the bad situation? it ends up feeling like people using our pain and mistreatment as an outlet to advertise themselves...
Our company is getting worse and worse by the year and we're risking a lot to talk about it! Please listen! The only power we have is complaining about things, and it's risky every time!

"now she even gets to parade around wearing that Uchiha crest like the trophy it is to her, while having done nothing to earn it!!!"
She's literally an Uchiha do you expect her NOT to wear it???💀 sakura haters get a brain challenge
Ah, yes, hello anon.
No time to chit-chat, let's break this down:
The fact that Sakura has that symbol plastered everywhere, even when Sasuke himself either never wears it or does so discreetly, is proof of how much of a trophy he is to her.
She doesn't love Sasuke. No, she doesn't love him, but she does love his status, the influence, the aura that comes with the Uchiha name.
Does she even know the truth about his clan? Is it even confirmed? And whether she does or doesn't, you realize how, well, not okay it is for her to wear that symbol so casually?
If she does know about his clan, then why is she okay with burying it under the rug? Why has she not raised a single concern about it ever? The fact that she would take no issue with Konoha, the system or just the injustice happening to the supposed love of her life, and still have the audacity to wear that crest is revolting.
And if she doesn't know? (Something that wouldn't be surprising, considering she didn't even know if he fucking wore glasses) Then that's a testament to how little she cares. And how little Sasuke cares too**. Because she could never truly understand who Sasuke is and why he's done what he's done, if she doesn't know the truth. And that she never cared to ask? It's either that she's delusional enough to assume she already knows him (which she doesn't; she knows the made-up idealized version of him) or that she doesn't truly care about Sasuke at all.
Plus, does she even truly understand what the Uchiha symbol represents? Does she, again, even care to learn?
Either way, she looks like a horrible person, and doesn't deserve nor has she earned the right to parade with that crest everywhere.
Sure, she might be an Uchiha on paper, but she shows no true respect for the clan, the symbol, and her husband.
____________________________________________
**In case you don't get what I mean here, anon, I'm saying that if Sasuke doesn't really care to tell her, well, that puts into perspective how few the fucks he gives about what Sakura thinks of him are. And if he doesn't tell her because he doesn't trust her, then shit, that might just be worse.
Anyhow, I love how you didn't even bother addressing any of my other points. Kindly saying this, don't even bother. This isn't an invitation to, I'm not interested.
(And I say that in an entirely neutral and good-natured tone, I actually feel very guilty the moment I say something even passively mean. Forgive me though, I can't resist sometimes)
And please, spare both of us from any escalation of this argument. We see things differently, it happens, it's a waste of energy ,especially because I'm right, you're wrong and maturing is realizing it /jk

YES, please talk more about Ranpo because I love him!!
I LOVE HIM TOOOOO ANON but i don’t have many other thoughts atm aside from what i said to that other anon!!! hmm other than that tbh i could see him being borderline vicious in the bedroom with his teasing & so so so condescending because he’s sooo intelligent and you’re sooo idiotically cute and sooo sweetly stupid and he’s sooo much better than you <3
but it’s okay, he still loves you, still thinks how unbelievably dumb he can make you with merely his cock and his voice is so fucking adorable <3 he has a talent for being able to smash you to absolute bits with his words and wit alone—doesn’t need to resort to any of those more primitive methods like bondage or impact play, the way dazai likes to, to supplement his thorough shattering of you, to cut you up into little fragments of yourself, diminished to snotty sniffles and spit-weighted words (gurgles, more like it, he thinks; it’s almost disrespectful to call those garbled noises words) and shimmering eyes overflowing with thick tears, fat dewdrops caught in salt clumped lashes that glitter with each flutter of your lids; all gorgeous pieces of evidence, proof of his intellect and ingenuity, his sheer aptitude.
being such a skilled and smart wordsmith, he excels in language-based kinks: praise, degradation, humiliation, and (his personal favourite) dumbification. and after he’s reduced you to a beautifully broken mess of yourself, shivering and snivelling and so, so soft, he is an absolute expert at mending you back together with loving affirmations and gentle affections as his tools, murmuring about how good you were for him, how well you did for him, how perfect and gorgeous and awe-inspiring you are, and how much he fucking loves you—the only sentiment he’s sure no words in the world could accurately express, but he tries his darnedest to tell you anyway <3

Quick question
Why are you tagging this as “x reader” if it’s like a self insert I’m guess??
because it isn’t.
i’ve stated before that i’m not comfortable making self-insert characters that are actually “me,” but i still like to make “x reader” content.
so, sometimes i like to give the reader stand-in their own look so i’m not just drawing a gray, faceless mannequin. that’s not always the case (like the y/n for fnaf sb or the the y/n for my oc DJ), but i like to give each “y/n” or “reader” their own look or personality. they become their own characters, but in my mind they maintain their blank-slatedness besides.
in the case of ittw and jttw, i came up with a design i liked and could easily draw. i didn’t feel like this “y/n” would look right as a gray blob.

You know, this recent development about Purgatory has been kinda fascinating to watch in real-time
Not because of the plot twist, but because of peoples' reactions to it. By which I mean that I didn't realize so many people didn't know what Purgatory is???
Like I get that it's a mainly Christian thing (as far as I know) but I kinda assumed that it was in enough popular media that people at least had passing knowledge about it
So it actually surprised me when I got on tumblr after the announcement and saw people asking "WHAT THE HELL IS PURGATORY????" Like people were asking for a translation, trying to figure out what it meant in their language, and being really confused when it didn't translate to anything they knew. It really caught me off-guard
It actually never occured to me that there would be so many people who didn't know what it was immediately, and that's legitimately interesting to me. And it's been even more interesting to watch people research it and post their findings online for other people who didn't know about it.
(And I wanna iterate that this isn't me going "Oh wow lol I can't believe people don't know what Purgatory is, it should be common knowledge LOL." It's just an actual blind spot in my point of view that straight-up never occurred to me before now. And it has me wondering what there is that I don't know about other peoples' cultures and media that I would never even think to ask about or look up)

if you're looking for concise windows into the relationship dynamics, chapter 9 in book 2 of Emma has it all... I love this teasing exchange between Knightley and Emma:
"This is coming as you should do," said she; "like a gentleman. I am quite glad to see you."
He thanked her, observing, "How lucky that we should arrive at the same moment; for, if we had met first in the drawing-room, I doubt whether you would have discerned me to be more of a gen- tleman than usual. You might not have distinguished how I came by my look or manner."
"Yes I should; I am sure I should. There is always a look of consciousness or bustle when people come in a way which they know to be beneath them. You think you carry it off very well, I dare say; but with you it is a sort of bravado, an air of affected unconcern: I always observe it whenever I meet you under those circumstances. Now you have nothing to try for. You are not afraid of being supposed ashamed. You are not striving to look taller than any body else. Now I shall really be very happy to walk into the same room with you."
"Nonsensical girl!" was his reply, but not at all in anger.
and then the excellent dinner party scene, with Churchill and Emma exchanging flirty theories on What Is Up With Jane Fairfax. this, knowing the truth as a reader, is such great emotional cross purposes miscommunication - Emma leads the entire conversation and Churchill gamely agrees with her, which works well to hide his actual intentions towards Jane and simultaneously strokes Emma's ego. and then Harriet walks in and Emma spends a moment being obsessed with her:
Emma watched the entrée of her own particular little friend; and if she could not exult in her dignity and grace, she could not only love the blooming sweetness and the artless manner, but could most heartily rejoice in that light, cheerful, unsentimental disposition which allowed her so many alleviations of pleasure in the midst of the pangs of disappointed affection. There she sat and who would have guessed how many tears she had been lately shedding? To be in company, nicely dressed herself, and seeing others nicely dressed, to sit and smile and look pretty, and say nothing, was enough for the happiness of the present hour.
and then more Churchill flirting:
In he walked, the first and the handsomest; and after paying his compliments en passant to Miss Bates and her niece, made his way directly to the opposite side of the circle, where sat Miss Woodhouse; and till he could find a seat by her, would not sit at all. Emma divined what every body present must be thinking. She was his object, and every body must perceive it. She introduced him to her friend Miss Smith, and, at convenient moments afterwards, heard what each thought of the other. "He had never seen so lovely a face, and was delighted with her naïveté." And she,-"only to be sure it was paying him too great a compliment, but she did think there were some looks a little like Mr. Elton." Emma restrained her indignation, and only turned from her in silence.
I love especially that that last comment can be read as "Harriet how dare you compare my new hot guy to your annoying priest" or as "Harriet how dare you call him handsome he belongs to me and you also belong to me in an entirely separate way and my food can't touch!"
and then finally, Emma freaks out at the idea that Knightley might be in love with Jane Fairfax and calls it ridiculous, her main objection being that... if he married, her 6 year old nephew might not get the house. lmao. girl.
But Mr. Knightley does not want to marry. I am sure he has not the least idea of it. Do not put it into his head. Why should he marry? He is as happy as possible by himself; with his farm, and his sheep, and his library, and all the parish to manage; and he is ex- tremely fond of his brother's children. He has no occasion to marry, either to fill up his time or his heart.
I love the way that this chapter showcases all three different romantic entanglements Emma finds herself at the center of: a flirty, long-awaited courtship with Churchill, in which she gets to flatter herself as his "object", and takes equal pleasure in being so and in everyone knowing it. conversely, Harriet is "her particular friend"; if Emma is plumping her feathers over being the target of an eligible bachelor's affection, she imagines that Harriet can feel much the same about her. up to this point in the novel (Churchill's arrival shifting her focus), absolutely everything has been about what Emma can do for Harriet, how she can improve her, how she enjoys being fawned over by the less socially experienced and less wealthy girl. in this way, Emma gets to leverage her power dynamics in two directions: the pleasure of looking after Harriet, and the pleasure of being Churchill's object. obviously, class is a huge part of this, and of how Emma evaluates her world and everyone's respective place in it. and then, bookending the chapter, there's Knightley. I love that he spends this first half of the novel very much in the background, a reliable fixture. the outbursts over his possible marriage are Emma's only strong feelings about him so far, maybe excepting her very sweet (and telling!) comment about wanting to be done with being mad. in both the carriage conversation and the marriage freakout, Emma is concerned with Knightley's station: that he might not live up to it, that he might marry beneath it. in her relationships with Churchill and Harriet, Emma is enjoying the manipulation of class, gender, and social power dynamics at play. but she is extremely concerned with keeping Knightley at the right level, at her level. I know at the end of the novel she specifically appreciates how well matched they are, and I think this is seeded here. her chief anxiety over Knightley is that he, as a constant fixture in her life, might change (and so soon after Mrs. Weston left!). she makes fun of her father plenty for his resistance to anything different, but Emma can be the same about many things.

This is more a response to your tags so don’t feel like you have to post but anon was def being a bit rude. I just didn’t want you to feel like you were just thinking that out of nowhere :( Hope your other messages are nicer <3
Thanks, this message is nicer at least!
I've seen messages like that sent to other folks on here and I don't really get why they are so rude. I understand getting frustrated at people not tagging stuff you don't want to see, but you are asking a random stranger to do something for you. People will be more willing to do something for you if you are nice to them!
