AUUGH It’s like theres no god of war content rn so here are my headcanons on gow if it was a musical

Kratos would have a singing style similar to Hellfire in Hunchback of Notre Dame

Some moments in the games I think he would have a song in would be the scene where he’s asking Faye what to do abt the baldur situation in gow 2018, and he would maybe have this small conflictive duet with atreus in that “grieve how you will and I will grieve my own way” scene. Think of a duet like On The Open Road from A Goofy Movie, but obvsly, more sad, angry, maybe a lil quiet, and definitely shorter lol.

Uhhh Atreus’ singing style would be smthn similar to Ciao Papa from that Guillermo Del Toro Pinocchio movie. At least in the 2018 game. He DEFINITELY has his own like short but explosive number for when he kills Modi, AND his own actual first number by the time he spreads his moms ashes.

In Ragnarok, that’s where Atreus’ singing ability is RLLY shown, i don’t have any ideas atm for that tho lol

hi eren i want to listen to more metal & im wondering where i should start. so far ive listened to like nu-metal(? idk what the correct term is) stuff like poppy and babymetal and ofc vocaloid metal like utsu-p

omg permission to be annoying 101 here i go ok im gonna cut this cause its long bleh... im like bad at talking about music really but ill try my best to make sense... mostly into black + death myself

ok so most of those are very like pop adjacent... nu-metal + electronic pop (im pretty unfamiliar im just going off of stuff ive read). so basically i tried to make a playlist where it kind of goes from uhhh.. "normal" to "extreme" for lack of a better phrase ig >__< from nu metal to black metal. theres def like... you know... a lot more genres out there than what i personally included but i figured itd do .. dont really need to go into grindcore and whatever i figured thisd work best as intro

i tried being very selective here and tried to go as short as possible.. umm like i have that whole other playlist where its pretty much all the metal i listen to minus the stuff that isnt on spotify/.... said in the playlist desc but i went with a lot of the popular songs *thumbs up*

nu metal (SOAD -> evanescence):

i somewhat actively bag on nu metal like rlly hard haha BUT im pretty into System of a Down (fun drumming and serj has a good voice), and i did include an evanescence song although thats.. i mean theyre nu-metal but my mind just says "emo moment".

sludge (melvins -> alice in chains):

sludge tends to cross a lot with grunge and just rock in general... so sometimes its a lot less metal and more rock or grunge but i thought itd be good to include anywayu

thrash + death (riffobia -> death):

merging these together cause they kinda go together sometimes... like dont get me wrong theres differences but. yep. so with thrash its like, metallica megadeth anthrax slayer etc like its the Big One but i really dont listen to any of those because idc oops. HOWEVER scythelord is absolutely one of my fave bands of all time and theyre kind of like thrash/death, i tried not to go overboard including them but... oops. yep

brutal death (cannibal corpse -> inveracity):

so brutal death is just death but some guy burps into the microphone the whole time basically andwell i love it. nonetheless i limited its addition in tge playlist because . um. because people dont like it that much and thats fair

black metal (darkthrone -> sarastus):

YAYYY sooo distortion and screeching and shitty quality and very atmospheric . and theyre not on spotify but again plugging these guys because its such a good album..

**le extra** atmospheric doom stuff (sea witch -> black tremor)

sort of a bonus in my eyes but yes my two atmospheric doom bands that i love. no vocals all instrumental and jusr vibes um sea witch is all nautical and black tremor is all dust storm feeling. you just get it if u hear it *nodding*

queue: as of the day i’m writing this, i have a very full queue, because i have a habit of liking literally every post i see related to a fixation, and then spam-queuing it later to clean my likes out. so i hope you enjoy all the content! lots of funny scenes and textposts, well-made gifsets, wonderful fanart, and insightful meta, if i do say so myself. mashblr is a talented bunch!

original posts/content: i don’t contribute much on my own, but i love to ramble and i hope some of my lengthy tags prove an interesting or at least entertaining read :) i do dabble in fanfic writing and i’ve got a few mash works in my drafts, but i’m not sure if they’ll ever see the light of day. i’m also fond of meta and character analysis, so if i ever work up the courage maybe ill put out some moderately thought-provoking posts in that realm.

I usually write pwps or short stables but I have this idea for the omega Harry fest that I rlly wanna run with. I think it’s gonna be a longer fic but I just don’t know how to go about writing it or how to start really. I have a rough plot in mind and rough characterisations. Can you help me a bit please? Any writing tips or resources you may have?

Hi, love!

First off, I’m really flattered to have received this message. I don’t really think I’m in any kind of position to give writing tips (I’m not professionally trained, so most of what I do is trial and error), but I’m still grateful that you came to open the conversation with me anyway, cause I do love talking writing. So, thank you. ❤️

Second, please remember that these are tips that work specifically for me, and I know a lot of other writers who don’t write this way/have different ways of building their stories, so feel free to take what you feel suits you/your writing style/your story, and leave the rest.

Tips for Writing Long Fics:

Write down the prompt/synopsis in full. This is always my first step, because it grounds me. I know most writers leave the fic summaries to the very end, but it’s always been my starting point because when writing long fic, it’s really easy to get lost in the minutiae and literally lose the plot. I find that having a solid summary prevents that from happening, and serves as an anchor to remind me what exactly the point of the fic is.

Outline. It doesn’t have to be all that detailed, but get all the basic points of your plot down on paper. If you’re not sure where to start, my foolproof system is to write down a skeleton for the big goals and milestones you’d like to achieve in each scene. For example, depending on the different key nuances of your story, an enemies to lovers would usually follow this basic skeleton: - Intro and Establishment of Current Relationship (including attraction or lack of) - Transition from Hate to (Begrudging) Friendship - Transition from Friendship to Sex without feelings - Transition from sex without feelings to sex with (begrudging feelings - Resolution and end Using that as a basis, you can tweak your scenes to follow that pattern (or any pattern) and be sure that no matter how long your story/scenes are, they’re still tied to an overarching purpose.

Allow yourself to take it one scene at a time. With long fics, I find that I often intimidate myself out of writing because I feel like I need to have every single aspect of the plot figured out from the very beginning. Not true. Sometimes, good ideas will come to you once you’ve gotten to know your characters and the story better because it helps you learn what the story needs. Don’t wait to start writing until your outline is set in stone, because it’s never going to be. As much as structure helps, you also have to be flexible and allow room for inspiration.

Talk about it. Find a beta/writing group who’s just as excited about your fic as you are, and who will help you daydream and workout plot holes and issues out loud. It’s great for keeping yourself interested (not inspired, because no one can be inspired all the time!) in your story.

Celebrate small wins! Writing long fics can be frustrating and very lonely. Remember that even the smallest of milestones count, and if you can find ways to reward even small progress (maybe by posting a snippet or answering some memes related to your WIP on your blog), do it. ❤️ Unfortunately, my tagging system is all over the place, so I can't really direct you to any writing resources, but I'm tagging a few other writers here, in case they have more tips to add or can point you in the right direction! @twopoppies @metal-eye @hazzabeeforlou @crinkle-eyed-boo @myfineline @thedevilinmybrain @snowjosh @lovingstheantidote

Ranking the Nijisanji EN debut songs

This is just my opinion so don't take it seriously. I'm also not trying to hate on any of the people involved I love them all very much and think that they're all incredibly talented! This is just for fun.

4- Hope in the Dark

I'm srry Luxiem you guys are my favorite but compared to the other songs here this is at the bottom for me. I think that the instrumentals shine the most here ESPECIALLY with that beat drop in the chorus that's my favorite part of the song. The beginning is also rlly great it builds up the hype rlly well. My biggest issue is I don't like that rap part with Ike and Vox the lyrics don't sit well with me and I think it lasted too long. The song would've benefitted from more vocals in general and it would've been nice to hear more of the guys' singing. The small Japanese lines actually fit nice they didn't feel out of place at all. Finally I imagine if there was one more incredibly powerful chorus at the end to finish it off it would've made the song wrap even more nicely. Overall it's great but could've been better, 6/10 would listen again

(Also why is there album cover so much lackluster than the others c'mon the boys deserve some cool art too > <)

3- Black Out

AAA this was hard but Black Out is gonna sit at number 3. Just like the last song THE INSTRUMENTALS GO SO HARD HERE! I absolutely love the build up at the beginning and the atmosphere it created in the intro gives me chills. The best part of this song is the pre-chorus, most specifically the second pre-chorus. I love that they brought in the acoustic guitar it just blended so well with Petra's vocals. Speaking of the vocals I do think sometimes the instrumentals were overpowering their singing especially in the chorus but at the same time a part of me rlly likes the chaos there. Selen's rap is great didn't have much of a problem with it. Line distribution was good and the song ended with a bang I loved it. 7.5/10

2- God Sees All

I've replayed this song so many times omg the replay value is very high for this one. This and Black Out feel almost the same it's that I've listened to this one more so it's at number 2. Another strong intro and yes EVEN MORE AWESOME INSTRUMENTALS! This is the same producer that made Hope in the Dark so I'm not surprised that both choruses go so hard. Those short "tick tick"s in between the lines are so good??? I would like to take this time to express my confusion over the line "Somewhere someone is still thinking about someone else". It doesn't flow well idk why it's here it's my least favorite part I wish it was replaced with a different line. Anyways the part after it though is SO GOOD the melody change is awesome. "We're Ethyria Yea" yes queens go off 8/10

1- Diamond City Lights

This was easy omg I love this song sm. BEST LYRICS THIS HAS THE BEST LYRICS OUT OF ALL OF THEM. While it doesn't have the hardcore edm instrumentals of the other songs I think the guitar, synths, and percussion bring out a more natural feel that fits well with the vibe of the song. Whenever I listen to this song it lifts me up and makes me smile. AND GROUP CHORUSES I LOVE GROUP CHORUSES. It has both a strong beginning and ending, it has that last chorus that I absolutely love, the instrumental break doesn't feel out of place, pre-chorus slaps the buildup is wonderful. This song is just the whole package and Lazulight's vocals make it even better. The only minor issue is some of the lines might've sounded better if it was a bit higher cause sometimes it feels like they're struggling to hit the low notes but it's not that noticeable and even then they killed it. "Diamond City Lights illuminate what's inside" 9/10

welcome to another episode of SM choosing the worst song for the title track aespa version :)) What are your thoughts?

Aenergy shouldve been the tt, every song in that album is better than whatever savage was. Even the MV was incoherent. It's horrible because if the rest of the album sucked it wouldve been okay but the B-sides are so well produced and the girls delivered it with so much charisma and power but then savage feels so disjointed but not in a good way like next level. The only good thing was the chorus and the lyrics which was rlly interesting since we got to know more about the SMCU.

I agree that the b-sides are better than the title track but savage wasn't a bad song at all imo! it's way better than sticker in every aspect and it definitely served its purpose - setting aespa apart from the rest of the pack. we are witnessing the creation of the aespa print in real time. this is how they're gonna be perceived from now on, a gg that doesn't play it safe and doesn't put out easy listening songs. they're the opposite of the cute concept that most other ggs follow

and tbh savage was the only option for a title track. it was the only one that made sense. aenergy is good but it's not tt material. it's an intro almost for the rest of the album. it's not really something that could have a lot of choreo and it's short and good but doesn't have enough personality to draw in the interest of the public.

it couldn't have been YEPPI YEPPI even though it's a great song because that's not aespa. if YEPPI YEPPI had been the tt then they would be the same as itzy or stayc or weeekly or even twice. aespa is not them so that type of song even though it's a bop it's not daring or edgy enough for them. I firmly believe that sm are betting on aespa setting the tone for the 4th gen big time. and you don't do that by fitting in with the trend, you make your own trend

and as much as I love the vocal led songs aespa are very much rap focused and lucid dream or I'll make you cry are not title tracks no matter how you spin it. they don't have the performance potential that savage, next level and black mamba have

regarding the mv, it actually makes a lot of sense when you have info on aespa and sm universe's story line 😭 it's literally a three part story where black mamba introduced them and the villain, next level showed them waking up from their synk or whatever the fuck and realize something strange is going on and that they need to defeat the black mamba and now savage shows them finding naevis which is like their ally and guide ("we love u naevis" / "that's my naevis you lead we follow") that will help them in their quest against the black mamba jfksjdkfkf. but. I digress. if you're not knowledgeable in any of this then I get how the mv would seem like a bunch of nonsense, but even without the storyline the whole video is fucking amazing, the styling the cgi the choreo 😭 sm didn't get stingy with the budget at ALL

I. you can refer here for the general rules of my blog. also, for this event (and it’ll say in the descriptions below), i’m only accepting one character per request. also the word count limits i wrote here may change as im getting started on actually writing requests lol

» it’s all in the little things

» one-shots about normal, daily interactions with the character of your choice

» in other words, these include what can go on in a day in the life of y/n and the character of your choice (after they’ve already met). in the city, the possibilities are endless

» give me a word (or several, cuz writing is hard lmao. also legit any word, like ‘orange’ or ‘nostalgia.’ i may choose only one or do a combination from your list :3) as a prompt and ill somehow make something of it lmao

» medium relationship development + exp

» 700-1.5k words

I mean in short this is tommy saying he wont Survive exile. The intro of the song lists when the singer would be home from college/school and that “another 90 day summers gonna take [their] fucking life” which is rlly just. Tommy not gonna live THAT long in exile.

“And I would rather die And let me make it clear It's nobody's fault But I think we all know That I won't make it to Montreal”

So the thing here is that its “nobody’s fault” bc on one hand it is that he doesn’t blame tubbo but worse he doesn’t blame DREAM. Its just meant to happen, its not bc of anybody, yknow?

“And I would rather die I'll jump before I'll fall And I'm having lots of fun But I won't make it Montreal”

Mans tried to jump to his death before he “fell” whether bc of dream or an accident, hes makin the active CHOICE to end it rather than just waiting. Even w the fun he’s having w dream, he’s miserable and he knows he wont make it to see lmanberg again

“You like to talk about the future As if it's real And when you tell me that you love me I can almost feel it”

Dream keeps promising him stuff for the future. Maybe he can visit to see the tree, maybe he can get another visit, maybe he wont be alone. But tommy doesn’t care, its all fake to him (which like, it is so good for him but fjkdlsjf)

“It's not that it's a bad plan No, the plan fucking slapped I was so excited you don't know how bad I wanted all of it The coffee shop, the weather, the apartment But I don't want anything anymore I don't know, I guess I just got bored”

Okay so. Tommy kept trying to get shit together to leave, right? He wanted to go back so bad and have this domestic life w his friends but in the end he just got so downtrodden that after his shit got blown up he was so ready to just GIVE UP.

“And I don't wanna die I don't wanna get left behind But it's better half than none I hope to god you have some fun”

He doesn’t want to be in this situation, he still CARES abt the lmanberg crew but in the end hes been told that they’re happy WIHTOUT him. He’s not angry at them, not anymore, he just wants them to be happy bc he isn’t.

2. Sleep with a Baseball Bat – tommy and dream relationship baby!!

“And every time you wake up Thinking this could be the day Well something, something just”

Every day in exile he had no real plans. He just had to exist out there alone and hope someone else came. This IS the day he can do…. Something. He doesn’t know. He doesn’t have a goal.

“And when your love is an anxiety attack Don’t settle for that, don’t settle for that And when you wake and find the claw marks in your back Sleep with a baseball bat, sleep with a baseball bat”

Hes been manipulated into thinkin dream is his friend, that dream “loves” him but it makes him miserable! Hes paranoid and stressed and falling apart!! Boy!!! Fjdsklfj

“Siena says you’re getting used But something’s broken in your head And you can’t run away when you need to”

The other ppl who visited him, like ranboo, KNEW something was happening and that he was in a bad place but tommy had been manipulated by dream so much that he couldn’t process it. No, dream couldn’t be bad, dream was his friend, right? He couldn’t leave exile, dream would be upset. Its all what DREAM wants, not tommy.

“Hey, space cadet Are you still floating round the rock That you spent so much of your life trying to get away from? And does it at least look different from up there?”

OKAY SO ONE. SPACE CADET? THAT’S CLARA BABY!! TWO: he spent ALL his time on this server fucking fighting dream, trying to “get away from” him. But now hes stuck “floating around” with him as his “friend”. The last line feels sarcastic and bitter but like. FUCK it hits, yknow??

“It might take a couple tries till you believe it But love is real, you’ll figure it out, you’ll live to see it But you still have to take a couple of falls And you can’t make an omelet without breaking your balls So batter up Is your bed made? Is your helmet on?”

Okay so on a serious note this song is abt addiction and while I don’t want to take away from that Serious Topic, it Does relate but w tommy dealing w his ptsd of dream

Hhrhnrng staying at technos place to hide from dream and get better a lil JFKDLSJK. Also “the drums of the city rain” is referenced a LOT in this song but like. It keeps him up so,,,,,, dream JFKDLSJF. Mans barely ever slept in exile so it WORKS okay jfkdlsjf

This is him and techno livin together!! Like in the first chorus you could see lights we chase being tommy finding techno’s place, then later it’s the lights of lmanberg as they sneak in. the nights they steal is both just time spent together and also straight up the times they stole shit JFKDSLJ. “the things that we take to make us feel” is the gapples tommy always eats so that he can feel safe (also, bc in the og song this is PROBABLY abt drugs and potions are drugs in universe so. Arguably getting a potion effect from the apple means it is Also Drugs? Fjdkslfj)

Go back to logstedshire or lmanberg you ask?? The answer is yes. Both. He feels like he doesn’t belong in lmanberg and logstedshire is too traumatizing for him to return at this point. As long as he “hears the drums of the city rain”, or is thinking of dream, he Cant Sleep:tm:

Okay so hear me out but. This is just tommy and dream. “I believe that every night theres a chance we can walk away” is tommy hoping desperately for dream to let him go home, to walk away from logstedshire. He never will be permitted, not really, but theres a chance that tommy clings to. He wont “wait too long” while out in exile and stuck w dream bc hes desperate and miserable (also fun fact these analysis is basically me just pmv’ing shit in my head and rambling vaguely abt it but like. Listen,,,, flashback verse jfkdsljf) ALSO. The line “does anyone have the guts to shut me up” in relation to exile!tommy is just VERY important to me. Mans was so quiet and afraid to speak up when in exile.

Following up that last paragraph, this is still in flashback. The days end and dream leaves again, making tommy alone. He asks if he can go back, if he can see home and lmanberg and everyone. But echoing the “to the drums of the city rain” after home CAN imply that “home” has become logstedshire WITH DREAM even tho it keeps him up and aaAAAAAHHHH

I swear this ends up okay and techno + tommy focused fjkdsljf

“Faces I don't know I am tired in the glow”

He feels isolated from everyone during his exile and lashes out at those who visit, to the point he feels like they’re all more or less strangers and “faces he doesn’t know”. Being tired in the glow is, imo, him over the lava.

Hhhngg okay so tommy breakdown time! Hes in techno’s house (the freezing club) and is just pleading for techno to help. Don’t let “the lights come back” (lava again maybe? He doesn’t want to be Like This?) and just wants to feel like hes at home because hes just left exile and hes Messed Up Over It

OKAY SO THEY MAY NOT BE CANON FAMILY BUT WILBUR REMEMBERS SPARRING W TECHNO AS A KID AND PHIL IS HIS CLOSE FRIEND SO THEY STILL KNEW EACH OTHER AS KIDS SO SHUSH FJSDKL. Tommy just wants things to go back to how they were, before everything. When things were easy and they were kids just having fun. He misses it. Before exile, before lmanberg, before dream. But it doesn’t matter, because they’re stuck in this now. With his brother dead and his closest friend being the man who killed his best friend and helped blow up his country. Again, the drums of the city rain is dream. Because of his influence, its all different.

then we meet barbara. why is the central villain just some jealous bitch ? the entire thing fueling her is her jealousy?? kind of goes against the whole plot of human goodness from ww1 right ?? if u ask me (also i thought they were gonna kiss so that was disappointing).

but continuing with barbara- the whole buildup to her LITERALLY KILLING SEVERAL MEN is nonexistent so idk where the sudden evil urges came from. and the way she lets Lord just jerk her around for halfway through the movie is so annoying

okay central conflict in itself was SO dumb. i remember they introduce the stone and at the first second i knew.

it was so silly with its message of human greed or whatever and the way none of the antagonists face repercussions and the entire HUMAN CIVILIZATION is jerked around by this one guy is so fucking STUPID. i know they were dumbing it down so kids would buy and watch it but THIS MUCH??

but there were good things 🙄🙄🙄 the action shots were phenomenal. i did tear up when steve died (again) i did i wont lie. steve genuinely was such a good character here perfect dude.

the last scene with Lord running to his kid was so sweet i loved it.

okay FINALLY;

the silliness compared to the first movie really let me down a lot. the core values of inherent human goodness and the beauty of the wolrd or whatever that they establish diana in believing with the first movie? GONE. non-existent. it just makes me so mad to see them reverting back to some happy go lucky movie

and i Know i know. its a fucking superhero DC movie what do u expect. but honestly? it IS more. ill never stop saying it ww1 was so fucking good.

its not like this one was terrible. like i said, great costumes, great shots, some heart-wrenching scenes, some sad ones, good acting + good characters. but overall just very forgettable. im already blanking on some middle scenes.

it was childish and just a let down for me. 5/10

ok lemme say that i envisioned kane as a movie bby , you’ll get what i mean in 2 secs .

his two parents are both movie directors , his mother is an actress turned movie director . the morgan surname is well - known across the silver screens everywhere , not one that people take it lightly . here’s some background about his parents .

tim morgan : father , but mostly known of his work as a movie director , i wanna say he has the career claim of frank darabont ( directed : the shawnshank redemption , the green mile , mary shelley’s frankestein , the walking dead ... etc ) . he earned his name despite being , at first , a nerdy film school student . very proud person , definitely snobbish .

ingrid jackson - morgan : mother , but also a very good actress , i was thinking she had the career claim of michelle pfeiffer ( scarface , grease 2 , batman returns , hairspray , murder on the orient express ... etc ) . she comes from a line of models & actresses , so it’s no surprise there .

now you have young kane morgan , now im ashamed to say he was named after citizen kane , his parent’s favourite movie ( rlly no taste ngl ) & you’ll never guess his middle name .... brando . that’s it , i’m cancelling him .

but basically he’s a little accident that happened before the marriage , oops ? so really , an unhappy surprise for ms & mr morgan . his mother wasn’t very happy w his arrival because all she wanted to do was to work on movies & NOT take care of a child .

don’t worry , cuz kane rlly felt that unhappiness ooze outta her . gr8 nannies though , he loves them .

his father was happy to have someone to teach all his knowledge to , nerd alert , but that was one of the few moments he appreciated kane . that’s it .

so one could imagine the disaster of a kid being brought up by movie stars ( read : nannies ) , not a stranger to cameras , red carpets & all that good stuff .

ofc he was a child actor , his parents tried to put him in almost every movie they could , spreading that good morgan family name n all . kane didn’t think much of it , until he was old enough to understand .

he was definitely a little bratty , demanding attention from everyone all the time . being as fickle as they come , but that’s only because his parents didn’t give a flying fuck .

as he grew up , still on the spotlight , he liked to be on & off the camera . some years , he yearned to be the center of attention & other’s he hated the job . very hard to keep up with .

when he turned sixteen , he had his first ( & probably not last ) proper hollywood breakdown , almost as bad as brittany circa 2007 . he got a good role & was introduced to the bad side of hollywood . parties , drugs , shady people & all that good stuff . he was influenceable & fell into all the traps . it was only 2 years later that his parents were able to snap him out of it . they ofc paid all the tabloids to keep the good name out of their articles , but if you do your research , you’ll find some pretty pics of lil morgan .

since then , he has cleaned up his act . ofc he took a couple of years off , went to college, tried to focus on himself & discover who he was ( he wasn’t only a morgan , he was kane !! who is kane ?? ) & he only started starring in roles recently , post college graduation .

he just got off his first acting job post - hiatus & it’s a blockbuster . i was thinking maybe inspired on those coming of age movies ( à la hot summer nights but w more traction ) & people are freaking out !! kane morgan on the big screen ?? WHAT ?? he came back to nc before he decides on what to do next .

ᴘᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ

ok so you can already guess that kane morgan is no humble kid . i like to think he has layers , but ppl can’t be bothered to look through all of them .

some would say that his major problems stem from the fact that his parents didn’t give him enough attention & the public gave him too much .

having your parents’ attention ? that’s so 2002 .

for the press i like to think he has this movie star facade down . you know the old charming james dean smile , handsome but kind . loves the underdog , very humble about his social standing . generous , outgoing & loved by everyone .

idk i never met james dean , all the information i have on him is taylor swift’s song : style .

now if we dig a little deeper , he’s still quite the charmer ( c’mon he’s an actor after all ) , but maybe not as humble nor kind . he can be quite rude & entitled , but has some good jokes . don’t get him completely wrong , he’s still a bit generous ( he gives 25% tips wow ) . likes a good party , but knows his limits . always down for a good time .

if we go even deeper , oof , he’s a bit broken . never learned to love properly , all he has it’s movies , which we can all agree are shit if you’re gonna base your attachment type on it . he lives on his own little world & likes to keeps his guards up . a sweetheart really , you can see past all the snobby film critic bullshit & he’s just a boy who wanna have fun & have a good life like all those people on the screen .

you would fucken think im a film major but NO , i’m not even that fancy w movies . and after all reading all those movies titles ur head must be spinning , MINE IS !! but ily & ur an absolute queen / king / monarch if you read thru all of this !! let me tag my plot page below hehe , it’s were we get angstyyy !

i don’t usually do this but i feel Compelled to do a liveblog/review of Mouth Dreams so here goes

Please don’t read this if you haven’t heard the album yet as it’ll spoil Everything

(i’ll admit the idea came to me After i listened to Just a Baby so these first ones are gonna be relistened reviews)

first we got Yahoo. what can i say about this song? neil starts off Strong with incredibly sustained notes and just one phrase, in typical neil style. and he makes it work in so many different ways! honestly didn’t expect myself to get so attached so fast but that’s just the way his magic works ig. when the hoooooooos harmonise it almost brings tears to the eyes. i would love to see a group of choristers singing this with another guy on an electric keyboard. what a cold open. 9/10

of course then we go on to the titular track, the dimension of sound, the dimension of imagination, the dimension of doors. rod serling narrates the intro in his traditional monotone as the warbling twilight zone theme plays in the background. i tell ya i was actually Screaming when the track finished and he dropped the title! it may not be a song per se, sort of like Blockbuster from Mouth Moods, a ‘filler track’ if you will, but the effort in those fifty seconds cannot be ignored. it just goes to show once again how Good he is at what he does. 6.5/10

oh lawd, my favourite so far, Spongerock. reading the title i had absolutely No idea what to expect. the goofy goober song from the movie? winner takes all from band geeks? i was pleasantly surprised to find myself tapping out queen’s distinctive boom boom CLAP as the song progressed, and i was in complete Hysterics the whole way through, chanting along with the kids as the pirate encouraged me to sing louder. it’s such a beautiful fit the way they mesh together, and it’s one of those mashups that you listen to and think ‘why has nobody done this before?’ but neil is on a higher plane of existence than us and Knows where it’s at. you’re never the same after you’ve listened to Spongerock. 7.5/10

Just a Baby, where i stopped to begin this thing, is a melancholy song, which i’m not usually a fan of. i admit i don’t know the original song so i kept quiet until the last chorus or two. it’s the yang to the yin of Wow Wow from Moods, another sentence-mixer that was like a full Bop and barely gave you time to catch your breath. in Just a Baby you begin to empathise with the singer as he regales confusing times of his constant youth, including the time his mother (a train) shot a man in cold blood. it’s a powerful ballad, and it’s got a tasteful amount of justin bieber adding backing vocals to the chorus. i may have to deduct a few points cos the lyrics are gonna be hard af to remember. 7/10

ok next up we got Superkiller. this one’s totally blind! i’m. ehhhhh okay not diggin this one very much. ok that say something once line being repeated was comedy gold but talking heads are just like. kinda tuneless tbh. i’m glad he’s trying to lassoo it together with u can’t touch this but it’s kinda falling short tbh. i wouldn’t skip it but it’s not as memorable as the previous ones. 5/10

starting Get Happy. i’m not gonna lie i think i Know what this is, there are only so many options after all. i predict it’s a mix of “get dancin’” by disco-tex and the sex-o-lettes and “happy” by bahrrel williams, and i really hope that ain’t the case cos i Love the first one but despise the latter. oh well let’s see if he can pull it off. sounds like village green by the kinks so far lol uhhhh i have no idea what to make of this. okay i feel like i’m gonna like this after all. hey it’s got memorable lyrics at least! is it gonna get faster? or just more bassy? yknow maybe i was too critical at the start, but i had no idea what to expect. this is a feel-good pop song and it’s definitely making me feel happier than i was when i was listening to Superkiller. 7/10

Ribs? wtf do i expect from a song called Ribs lmao another song i’ve never heard of IH IT’S EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE TH WORLD OH YEEEEEEEEES omg i Love this song i sing it to myself when i’m walkin my dog cos his little paws click-clack on the pavement to the exact rhythm of the song omg i’m in Love! another one with odd lyrics but i think after a Lot of repeat listening i’ll be able to properly croon along to this one omg! it reminds me of Best from Mouth Silence in that they’re both about products, only instead of folgers in your cup it’s about chili’s baby back ribs omg neil you’re Perfect! how come more advertisers haven’t contacted you for a product placement deal?? 7.5/10

next we got My Mouth. welcome to? who knows let’s hit play. ooooh minor key. is this a real song? it sounds like oney singing a cover of something. oh That’s the gimmick? 2:30 long i hope there’s something else tbh cos otherwise it’s gonna get pretty thin pretty fast. mm not a fan. the weakest so far imo especially after Ribs blew me away. definitely a bad dream. 3.5/10

Aerolong don’t fail me now! okay see This is how you do a mashup. I DON’T MISS YOU BABAY AND I DO WANNA MISS A THING THAT’S GOLD!! this is just a song about saying bye to your ex lmao i love it. wish it was longer though. 6/10

Sleepin’ here we go! ok in the youtube version the first half of this song is just silence so that wasn’t fun. gee this one’s only moderately better than My Mouth i’m feeling very shortchanged. 4/10

what to expect from Aamoorree? hopefully this one’s another jam but...okay i’m likin this one. it’s Fun and isn’t trying too hard! it’s just a drunk dean martin singing about pizza pie on karaoke night, what more could you ask for lol. 6/10

Where Is My Mom? by the p-p-p-pooo-oo-ooo-oooool of course. i don’t recognise the other song but it’s decent. i’ve listened to slowed-down songs before (the sludgefest chipmunks albums lately) and this one’s kinda ok. not a fan of the ending but points for effort ig. 5.5/10

Fredhammer ay? might there be some peter gabriel in there? undoubtedly. yup there it is lol ok now bring in the flintstones? oh ig that’s fred durst? mm not totally feeling it so far but censoring he** was funny lmao HEY THERE’S SEINFELD i’m wheezin that was a good way to end a song, well done neil. 6.5/10

here goes Limp Wicket. i’m on the edge of my seat. and Again i’m disappointed. is this a bunch of ewoks singing some kind of star wars song? or is it jarjar? either way this is Not a good song. it probably wasn’t before he mashed it up but this wasn’t an improvement. bringing in Fredhammer didn’t help this song much at all, in fact i think it brought both songs down actually. last one was a 7/10 but i Have to dock it points now that it’s a two-parter. as for this one? i’m being generous cos the limp bizkit song was good. 1/10

Cannibals runs for 4 minutes. PLEASE don’t let this be a repeat of the last one. i get that miners can’t dig up gold every time but don’t just show up with a bunch of rocks and iron pyrites yknow i’m just gonna start. i don’t want to be angry at this album. i recognise that sound in the bg! from a cyriak vid i think. thx comin in. loooooooong drone. ugh UGH there are Too many lucid dreams on this album. starting to regret liveblogging this cos i Loved the other three mouth albums. this one’s just falling flat again and again. 3/10

here comes The Outsiders. there is NOTHING to say about this. 1.5/10

come on Johnny. okay that got a laugh out of me, not many songs start with a booing crowd like that, is that meta? wouldn’t put it past him tbh. ah i’ll give it a 5/10, for a kinda filler song it wasn’t too bad.

Closerflies, this has gotta be gold. PLEASE. intro’s goin on for a little too long...mm having never heard the original version of closer i gotta admit i thought it’d be faster, like the one used in Rollercloser in Silence. this version seems very sloppy and sluggish, especially the bassline. 3/10

Nightmovin’ i’m not expecting much OH good intro oh YES now here we go. this is a good one, it’s got clear lyrics and a catchy tune, i’m liking this one more and more by the second. cuts off weird but it’s going into the next one. so i’m gonna leave the rating out of this one and see how it is after the next one.

Whitehouse i’m holding my breath. mm it’s Good but not great tbh. criminal that the last one was half as long as this one. think i’m gonna give both of these songs a 5/10 i doubt they’ll be anyone’s favourites. the title is a nice little joke too i respect that.

Wah! what’s neil’s obsession with using wannabe as a source lmao! it’s another decent one but nothing memorable again. 5/10

Pee Wee Inc i’m expecting big things. good intro I’M IN LOVE okay this is Much better than i imagined it’d be. did he use the radio edit of feel good inc? this is a heck of a way to bring it back to the gold stuff and i wouldn’t be surprised if this is what neil’s head sounds like all the time. 7/10

on to 10,000 Spoons. not sure what to expect from the title. okay this is a Nice one i think. throwback to the likes of Just a Baby with the two songs and the sentence mixing and it’s Good. and really 10,000 spoons is So ironic anyway, don’t you think? 7/10

oh another song called Mouth Dreams? an extro? that was Weird lol ok the intro i wasn’t too keen on, def not as much as the intro, but i got to appreciate it as it went on. like Rlly appreciate it i was beginning to reflect on what a journey i’d been through tonight, especially writing it all down. felt very poetic. and then WHAM, out of nowhere, after being gone for 23 songs, all-star came Back and How! gotta give this one a 7.5/10

keep the train rolling Brithoven! i can hear faint bits of instruments in britney’s song in the back of her audio which sound like a mistake but knowing neil.......yah lmao. this song’s kinda like Promenade (Satellite Pictures at an Exhibition) from Mouth Sounds, i liked what i heard. very nice. 6.5/10

the final song. we’re gonna be hit one more time for Ain’t! and i have NO idea what i’m in for! in the hall of the mountain king eh? is this like a way of looping around to the first song of the first album with classical music? ok the snoring’s a nod to Bustin i’m sure lmao funny anyway. i thought i heard a hey now in there but i must be going nuts. wouldn’t call it a grand finale but it is what it is. 5/10

now the question that must be asked - was Mouth Dreams trying to make a point? was there a reasons so many songs were of lower-quality than previous albums? perhaps it’s just a matter of taste, or perhaps it’s as rod said back on track two, that this album is a doorway into another dimension, and the further you progress, the more mind-rattling, brain-melting concepts you come across. the album gets an average of 5.5 which is kinda disappointing. don’t think i’ll be listening to the whole thing again. thanks for reading!
