Fuck it, It's gonna be a twst hot take but I gotta say it.

Rollo haters who hate Rollo due to him being based of Frollo from the Disney movies are hypocrites when we have Jamil who is based off Jafar who had an on screen kiss with Jasmine who is 16 while he looks to be in his 40s and the sultan pointed that out when Jafar suggested him marrying Jasmine. But does Jamil get called a pervert for just being based off Jafar? No, you know why? Because he's not Jafar, he's based off of him, Jafar's actions has nothing to do with Jamil period. If we can understand that, why the hate for Rollo? What is the actual genuine hate? 'Well, he tried to kill the yuu and the others' so have the overblots.

And don't use the 'He hates magic users and there fore he is racist against magic people.' Y'all forget Sebek exist and blatantly calls you human in a derogatory way? But naw mans gotta new hair style so he's good. It just frustrates me that people will project actions unto Rollo that he didn't even do? Idia kidnapped the overblots for testing, proceeded to overblot as well and almost releasing the titans to DESTROY THE WORLD, but you'll all be like 'he had a rough childhood, Ortho died because of his actions'. Rollo couldn't save his brother due to not having magic at the time, his guilt slowly turned to a hatred of magic.

And I'm not saying all this because Rollo can do no wrong and he's the best written character in game, no he isn't. He's hypocrite when it comes to his logic, he's a flawed character and so are other characters in twst. We only know Rollo from one event and that's it, we don't see him grow as a person or express his interest or give us more of his personality, it's one event and we take what we can get of his character.

I just wanted to get this off my chest, I'm not bringing down other characters because they're 'worst than Rollo', but wanting to show how ridiculous people mischaracterized Rollo because he's based off of Frollo, we had with him in one event he was in and how hypocritical everyone has been about this. I'm not saying you can't hate Rollo, he's an asshole and I agree but labeling him as some pervert for yuu after one interaction he had, that by the way he showed concern that yuu has to put up with the other boy's nonsense is shocking honestly.

That's all I have to say. I'm sorry this came off as preachy but I really had to get this off my chest.

I saw your post defending the way Jedi adopt the children/accept them into their culture, and I absolutely loved it! It was so well-informed, and you are right: It is all there in the original content!

I find it very ironic that many people spew these lies about the Jedi when that’s exactly what the Empire did. Iirc, this argument of Jedi being “kidnappers” was actually fueled by Emperor Palpatine and the Empire in their campaign against the Jedi. They wanted to discredit them and make the people turn against them so that they could erase them all more easily. So I find it very ironic that these lies are now being upheld by some people as the truth. (Really, have people forgotten the Empire was created bases on the Nazi’s and their own racist strategies?)

Hi! Thank you for the very sweet ask! Navigating stuff in fandom like this can be difficult at times, because there has to be room for compassion and tolerance for disagreement, like it's fine if people disagree with my views, I'm not your mom, I'm not telling you want to do or say, especially since this is fiction, these are made up space stories. But there also has to be room to understand that sometimes our commentary on fictional stories are echoes of reflection of real world attitudes--we can't just go around spewing racist, sexist, homophobic commentary and be like, "It's just fiction, you can't get upset!" There's no easy line for any of this, no single hard set in stone rule for when it's truly just fiction and when it's an echo of a real world attitude, especially in Star Wars, which often draws influence from a lot of non-Western sources and traditional Western sources. (My general rule of thumb is: I think it's fair to criticize those things through the influences they have, but if your criticism is then ended with, "So that's why we shouldn't have or acknowledge any Buddhism/Black people/queer people/women in Star Wars!" then fuck right on off with that.) And I also understand a lot of the anti-Jedi attitudes (or at least what I've personally experienced of them) because I've talked a bunch of times about how I started out as pretty Jedi-critical myself! I did the whole, "They had grown stagnant and refused to evolve with the galaxy, so they needed to be wiped out." thing because nobody had framed it explicitly as what it was: a genocide. It wasn't until a friend and I were talking and they mentioned that lens of it that it just sort of crashed down on me, oh, that's literally what it was and genocide is never justifiable. I did the whole, "The Jedi failed Anakin and taught him to repress his emotions." thing as well, because I saw it all over the place in fandom and just automatically folded it into my view, until I went back and actually watched Lucas' movies and Lucas' animation (first six movies + first six seasons of TCW) and read his interviews, which blew me onto my ass when I saw Obi-Wan being supportive of Anakin, when I saw Anakin not listening to the advice he was given, when I saw that Jedi were expressing emotion all over the place, when I saw they were respecting other Force traditions in the galaxy. I can't speak to why so many people think badly of the Jedi, there's probably a thousand reasons and I'm only vaguely aware of like half of them, but I do think that it's often unpopular to promote the idea of emotional regulation already being achieved, instead of something to be struggled with. I think we're all primed by a lot of mainstream media saying that an explosion of anger is what will save the day. I think there's so much anger in the world today that we're all angry and being told to let go of it feels really insulting at times. (But, as someone who has lost years of my life when I was younger to anger, I gotta say, I am so much better off having let go of as much of that shit as I can. It was poison in my veins, carrying that anger around. I lost so many friendships and opportunities and just time to being miserably mad about stuff.)

I'm getting off topic of the kidnapping aspect about the Jedi, but a lot of it starts to swirl together in what I've experienced (especially people who try to put this stuff on my posts--thankfully, that's died down/I block the people who won't respect boundaries) and so I kind of bounce from one aspect of it to another.

I do think it's good to talk about these things--both from "it's fun to analyze the content of the story on a meta level" perspective and "here's how this echoes into and from the real world" perspective, like I enjoy saying, okay, here's what's actually said in the movies/TCW, but also I think talking about how the Jedi are Buddhist influenced is important because that means they're going to have values that are meant to be reflected in that and Western fandom has a really big problem of being derisive about non-Western influences or automatically saying they're wrong. (I come from anime/manga fandoms, let me tell you, it's a big problem.)

And, yeah, in a way where it's really awful, but I think one of the most well-done things Disney's Star Wars has done is that it's really focused on showing that the Empire was a fascist one and the propaganda they used about the Jedi are ones that are super relevant to the conversation.

After the release of the original trailer for season one of TBB they actually had to go back in and darken the clones skin tone due to all the back lash they got, but Tech still looks like this and Crosshair is also paler then the other clones aside from Tech.

Then there’s the clones with longer hair like Howzer, Obviously Hunter, and now Emerie too. WHERE’S THE CURL????? I highly doubt every clone straightens their hair every day!

I know the characters are still the same, I know we’re gonna get revisits and personally I’m excited for them I love shows/movies where there’s a shift in perspective I think it’s so fun. What I’m confused about thooo is the contradiction in both your rant and your response to me where you say that “ if I‘m going to see anyone scream “bad writing“ or “Louis being made a liar or the memories revisited/changed is racism“ when the changes will hit I‘m just gonna block you.” And then say that it has nothing to do with the problematic directions the show could take to the revisits “because there are many traps there to consider because of the racial change”. As for listening to the Black cast and creators, I do and I agree with them as well? As for the comments you got on your fic, I personally did not read your fic but I’m sure you write v well and I’m assuming the comments are super hurtful and unnecessary and things like “kys”, which I find the casual use of in online spaces in general very weird so I’m genuinely sorry that you received that in your inbox. However I’m talking about how even getting just a “hey that’s racist” would also be not a great thing to receive like no one wants to be called that. Getting anything negative at all in the inbox is not great so getting even wilder stuff is very hurtful, I get that, which is why I’m trying hard not to come off in any type of way that would suggest that. People saying I’m tired of this discourse, plz know this is in response to your rant as well as a lot of the asks ab the jassad pairing, not just for discourse’s sake. Why the Beach divorce is unfixable (and why it doesn't work in Good Omens 2)

I think we can all agree that XMFC is a ...~flawed~ movie. I mean, I could write long, long posts about the inherent sexism and racist implications. But today, I want to talk about one thing that actually worked. That made so much sense and hit so hard, it single-handedly saved the whole film for me. Something that I've seen come up recently, again, under the cherik-tag because of another fandom and show. Where something very similar happens, only that in this case, it doesn't work at all.

(if you haven't watched GO S2 yet, spoilers. Also, if you enjoyed the second season, good for you, but this post is going to be highly critical of it. Gotta be my last post about that, since I believe in getting it out of your system but not continually spreading negativity and holding a grudge.)

So, with this post, I would like to dissect *why*: What makes the Beach Divorce (TM) in First Class work so well is its preparation in the previous events of that film and even before that. The thing about First Class is, while not being the perfect prequel timeline-wise with the previous motives of the first X-Men-trilogy, it still works *because* it is a prequel. At least the very specific part about Professor X and Magneto. Because from the start, when Charles pulls Erik out of the ocean, we, the informed audience, know how it's going to end. But for some moments you tend to forget, when they go on a trip to recruit mutants, training them, working so well together. And even when the small cracks are already visible in the way they discuss the issue of mutant integration into society, one could still hope that maybe this time, they'll find a way, settle their differences and keep building the future. Together. But it's still the same story. It's still the same characters. And both Erik and Charles could never change their core values. Their lives have already shaped them into who they are inherently, and they can't change what they do because they can't change what they *want*. Which is why the line "We want the same thing." - "Oh, I'm sorry my friend. But we do not." hits so hard. Because both is true. On a broader level, they *do* both want the same thing. A better future for mutantkind. Yet just as equally true is the fact that they will never want to choose the same path to get there.

To point it out directly, what makes the Beach Divorce (TM) so brilliantly devastating is that it makes 100% perfect sense for the two characters to behave that way. It makes sense that Erik, who sees someone he clearly cares for (loves) being shot, again!, can't initially accept that it's his fault. It makes sense for him, after taking an unimaginable amount of courage to make himself vulnerable in front of Charles, for the very first time on screen in front of ANYNONE mind you, laying down awkwardly but raw in its honesty how much this man in his arms means to him, to immediately close off and become cold again after being utterly rejected, in his PoV. It makes just as much sense for Charles who spent this movie trying to show Erik that there could be other ways to deal with issues than violence, would perceive how Erik takes on a helmet that cuts him off, kills a man while Charles is IN HIS HEAD, tries to kill "innocent" people and ultimately, shoots him, to conclude that his friend (love interest) has long since chosen a path where he could never follow him and therefore see choosing different sides (breaking up) as the only available option. And you can try to "fix" this. You can make up any scenario you can think of, and it still would play out like that because you can't change how each Erik and Charles perceive the world without changing inherently who they are as characters. That's what makes it so gut-wrenchingly tragic.

The whole tragedy of the tale of cherik is laid out in this one scene: That if the two of them looked into the mirror of erised, they'd see the same vision. Them being together and leading the mutant race in a bright future for them. But in reality, the means they choose to get to that end will never be compatible. Its tragedy defines itself through a subversion of the trope "Love on opposite sides". Because they *choose* to be that. It's not external circumstances that keep them from being together, it's their own values and convictions. Which is what keeps me so obsessed with these two, since that is so uniquely ~them~. So why do I think that this very similar scene, which I described as so brilliantly heartbreaking in one context, doesn't work for Good Omens 2? well... BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE FOR *THESE* CHARACTERS! Because Crowley and Aziraphale are the exact opposite of Cherik. They too, may be a couple that finds itself on different sides, but in their case, that's entirely an external circumstance, while their internal values and convictions align almost perfectly (depending whether we talk book omens or S1GO). Because the core of Ineffable spouses ship is that they are on the same side when they shouldn't be. They have their orders to obey, they have their instructions to despise each other, but they simply don't care enough since They are more interested in earth (and each other) than their respective head offices. That's what makes them work as friends, as a couple, as a ship. So when season 2 pulled a beach divorce à la Cherik, I was mad and disappointed because for me, it tears apart what their relationship is all about. And I'm ok with that kind of sacrifice when it gives you something valuable narrative-wise, which it didn't. And I have no hope of season 3 paying off for that. There was just not a big enough reason for me to break off the backbone of the entire story. That it is possible for you to make your own choices and be with the people you want to be with even if an oppressive system tells you no. It just doesn't make sense.

(So yeah, does this post only exist because I tried to get my head off from the destruction of a very dear ship of mine but also not wanting to spoil anyone's fun, by scrolling through the cherik-tag on Tumblr instead of the good omens tags and seeing so many posts comparing these two scenes, thinking "can you escape this *anywhere* on this page?" while also getting annoyed since how I pointed out in this post, it doesn't work at all in the second context? Maybe. But that's just me. ;))

This here is one of the big reasons why I continually say that we're going backwards from the peak of the late 90's in terms of racial issues/relations and a lot of that has to do with the media being produced and consumed.

Social media is another massive issue because honestly how fast can we see a lie that people want to believe spread once twitter gets its hands on it, and then you get the people that regardless of what the facts are refuse to shift because of a matter of pride.

Honestly though the different media that was on back there. Had stuff like Fresh Prince, Martin, In Living Colour (Waynes family owned comedy in the early/mid 90's) all kinds of non white led shows on the tv that didn't play hard into stereotypes but still managed to showcase what some of the different issues faced by the various other racial and ethnic groups without it feeling forced.

Carlton being the "wrong" kind of black man for the fraternity, that's not something a white writer could really do terribly well, but it's one of the things that seems to come up a lot irl and it's nice to put it out there for folks that may not be up on that being a thing.

Hey thanks for your perspective! I like seeing what other people think of a piece of media I engage with, and I can take in what another person’s perspective can be compared to mine. I always thought it was tough to keep up with HS^2, and before Yiffy it was boring. I read the prologue for HS^2 and it was nice, but ultimately pointless.

You make a good point about Jane, and I gotta describe the surreal decision for how they builded up to Jane’s villain arc.

So there is a series of snapchats from 11/11/2016 to 12/31/16 (I think) showing conversations between Jane and Roxy (calliope is there) discussing the celebration of the return of the gods on Earth C by blowing up the moon. Jane has her transportalizer hijacked by the felt, run by Jack Noir and Jane’s account now gets post updates from felt members. Roxy and Calliope attempt to get help but Jane successfully defends herself against the felt and enslaves Jack Noir with a tiaratop, and then puts Clover in charge of her snapchat account. She escapes before the moon explodes.

So the buildup to Jane being racist was her being kidnapped and then giving her social media to a leprechaun, who worked for the main bad guy of Homestuck who is last seen on his knees with the evil red Betty Crocker thing around his neck.

Yeah I can see why Jane became evil, she was the CEO of a corporation, and running corporations just make you literally irredeemably cruel to everyone. (If you can’t tell I’m being sarcastic)

To give credit to epilogues/postcanon apologists when they argue that the story’s character’s are not acting out of character, just rather changed over time or were always like this, but just didn’t have the unrestricted worship and authority Earth C gave them, they are in a sense, correct.

What postcanon apologists forget to argue is if the execution of this change in character works within the media it is produced under, and I gotta say, an obscure set of snapchat posts released after the credits that were only dug up by fans following the Homestuck Pinterest account which preluded a character’s villain arc by having her kidnapped and unkidnap herself was a poorly executed start to a vaillain arc, maybe they should have done more with the whole Jack possessed by the tiaratop thing and Jane running the most powerful corporation on Earth C, but I don’t write Homestuck.

The tiaratop thing only gets elaborated on in Homestuck^2 later on when in panels you can see tiaratops on Crockercorp soldiers in the April 2020 updates, nearly a whole year after the epilogues dropped. Before that I’d just assumed all the people decided in unity to be racist because Jane said so and most people can’t think for themselves actually, and just believe what a nice looking authority figure says. That last part might be true considering how well James Roach has gotten along with the Homestuck fandom.

So what is the moral of the story to all this? Well being a CEO of a corporation makes you a fascist because being in a position of power makes you think you’re better than everyone else and that they should be sorted into categories you consider lesser and better by your standards.

Sure there is actual human history to the rise of fascism and why some aristocrats and corporate businessmen supported the cause but I ain’t reading all that, my hypothesis is simple to understand and affirms all the premonitions I have about the world around me, so it must be correct!

So basically the Homestuck snapchats predicted Elon Musk buying Twitter and retweeting conspiracy theorist tweets because Elon Musk is the CEO of 5 companies now.

And look out for Disney CEO Bob Iger, he’s making bad and boring Disney movies with minority lead actors ON PURPOSE to radicalize fans of old, better cinematic franchises to bring about the 4th reich!!!

Funny enough, the aim for Jane Crocker being the villain in Homestuck 2 was also to make her an allegory for DONALD TRUMP. Even the bonus story for these random nothingbuger OCs made by WhatPumpkin, were suppose to be people getting BERNIE SANDERS to become President. They even advertise support for Bernie Sanders on the official HOMESTUCK TWITTER ACCOUNT. Of course, Bernie Sanders dropped out of presidential election. HS Twitter had to delete it and WhatPumpkin had to cancel that side story. Needless to say, the force of politics in Homestuck 2 was that bad.

On top of Ally’s speech, and Monnie’s new desire to start dance, their schedule is getting pretty full. “What the fuck do we do?”

When I think of Boomers I think of how Rebel Without A Cause was their Big movie and how the main character's rebellion & reason for being angry stemmed from an overbearing mom and a "pussy" of a dad who let the mom tell him what to do.

And now I'm thinking about the rage white american men have about their lives being so easy.

Like how much rage do you need inside of you to sit around imagining scenarios where it's justifiable to kill someone else? And how easy and boring was life for you that you'd imagine killing someone would make you the family hero and not just deeply traumatizing you and your family?

They all "I have a right to defend my property/my family hurr" but lbr, they don't give a shit what's being stolen or who else is at risk. It's not about the stealing. Or about the threat. They're just as happy to fire at you over a stolen tissue as they are to fire at you for assaulting a family member.

Because it's about the justification of being able to kill someone. It's about fulfilling their rage fantasy. Not about family or property.

Rage at what?

Idk. Maybe that they grew up thinking they'd be John Wayne and James Dean or Bruce Wayne defending white damsels and instead grew up to be just like their dads. Raising kids they hate with a wife they hate while working a job they hate for a life that doesn't give them any sense of purpose at all. Maybe it's that nobody ever needed them to be John Wayne. Maybe it's that now John Wayne is seen as just another racist white guy and there was never anything special about him (or the people who idolized him). Maybe it was the realization they were Never going to be James Dean, that daddy didn't give them enough attention and they'll Never get to make up for it by playing hero either. And maybe it's that they have no real reason to be so full of rage in the first place, they lived an average, safe life (never even been robbed, ha).

And yet.... The rage. The rage that has them taking that safety and boredom for granted... Wishing that something would happen, that someone would finally need to be saved so This White Man can save them. So he can prove that he is special and daddy was wrong about him and how he's Better than dad cuz he'd kill someone if he had to. His dad's a pussy. Everyone was wrong about him, he is special. He is.

You just gotta wait til he's robbed or something, then you'll all see how special and useful and threatening to the system he is.... It's too bad he's had super safe life, y'all have no idea the kind of lion this man Really is inside.

And those BIPOC are wrong too, nobody had it harder than him, they just need thicker skin. Miller's Girl swirled w/Status of Chapter 8

So You Know What officially releases tomorrow in its...limited release, and I just gotta say... it's a movie about a seriously horny 17 (in the script she's 17) year old brilliant 'I'm not like other girls' girl who reads classic erotica and wants to fuck her pruney old white guy English teacher. I won't spoil the end... It's just like The Crush, with less superficial pouty lip and more classic literature, unless they changed/softened it for the final film (I didn't pay attention to what draft I was reading).

That's also my story, here. I started writing this shit before I knew of Miller's Girl. The tropes MG and Satisfying Afterburn share are numerous and almost complete, right down to the mini-flashback of Wednesday attempting to seduce her Honors English professor, Professor Fortunato. It's a common (or WAS a common, I should say) trope, the Precocious Girl. And as much as current climate sexuality activists would like to deny it, precocious girls exist, and I was one of them.

I did mention in my bio that some of what I write about is autobiographical, and that I was an extremely precocious child back in the 80s and 90s. Like Afterburn Wednesday, I was left to my devices in my father's library. Henry Miller (the author Cairo likes) was one of the authors that I was reading in not-so-secret when I was around 10, since my own father had a collection of erotica (novels and art). I suppose the perversion is generational. 🫠💦✨ He was not my favorite author at 10 (at 10 it was Dalton Trumbo...I fell in love with Johnny Got His Gun, and Night of the Aurochs was pretty good too...sucks when someone dies before finishing their work), but at 11 I became a Nabokov fan and at 12, Orwell and Highsmith (Patricia Highsmith was a fkn cunt/racist/anti-Semite, but I loved Tom Ripley); I wasn't as moved by Miller's Tropics (however, I was and am an Anaïs Nin fan, and her whole Henry and June/Henry & June thing was just 🔥). Some time before 12 I read the erotic books that I mentioned in the beginning of my story (My Secret Life and Fanny Hill; I bought them at a book fair, and yes, they let me buy them). I digress, but it's relevant to my fiction.

The erotica Cairo reads and writes is designed to do what it does in the movie, just as all erotica is meant to do. Afterburn is erotica too (and all y'all writing E [for sex] are erotica writers).

Since people are talking about TV!GO again and Neil, here's my two cents.

Something that always comes up in these talks is "Neil is a good ally and not a homophobe!" as roundabout "proof" of A/C being canon. And I feel like that's a result of the myopic way homophobic/racist/sexist/etc. has become synonymous with "bad person, pls cancel" rather than a description of an ingrained set of biases, many of them unconscious, many of them wildly different in levels of harmful impact. (Meaning, someone who actively votes against queer rights is a much bigger problem than someone who writes bad queer rep.)

A really good way to explain this is to look at representation that was progressive for its time but is dated now. Take black actors in movies released in the 80s and 90s and 2000's. Black people became more common, often in supporting roles, sometimes predictably enough that "Sassy Black Friend" or "Black Dude Dies First" became their own tropes. Now of course, this is more progressive than the mid-20th-century time point when they would only play nurses or cleaners, and any decision to cast black people in roles more diverse than that was in some way motivated by progressiveness. But at the same time, what motivates a (usually white) director to give the supporting role to the black actor, but keep the starring roles white? Are we really going to pretend it's not racism? Come on. Racist/homophobic/sexist/etc. bias isn't a binary, it's a complex spectrum of sliding scales and what roles you're comfortable envisioning someone in. I fully believe that Neil simply isn't comfortable with making his leads G-A-Y gay, but is more comfortable with giving them more obscure or less threatening queer identities like asexual or nonbinary or whatnot (or at least, "not excluding" them as per his tweets). Because he's still a straight guy with some level of queerphobic bias, even if is, in many ways, a good queer ally (let's not forget him pushing back against Rowling and TERFs there especially). Just... not in this particular, fairly minor way. That is exactly why A/C isn't canon and Dream/Hob Gadling isn't canon, and why both ships exist primarily in the realm of eyefucking meaningful looks, and why Neil in 2019 twisted himself in circles on Twitter shooting down the idea of Crowley and Azi being gay without being too overt about it.

Hell, I don't even hold it against him. People write what they gotta write, what speaks to them, etc. Sometimes that means only writing things you're comfortable with, such a wink-wink-squint ship that could mean anything.

My only real gripe is that Neil was a little too eager to pat himself on the back when TV!GO came out, and acted a bit too smugly when faced with polite discussion about making A/C explicitly canon. Queersplaining (yes I'm making that a thing now) as a straight author that [ambiguous thing you wrote] is much better than kissing or holding hands is simply not a good look. Whoever compared him to Joss Whedon was spot on; I remember identical wank 10-15 years back when people were daring to criticize some of the writing in Buffy and Firefly.

Sorry to bring more discourse to your blog, but it's about the whole "problematic" shipling thing, because it's a part of older RE plot, that absolutely does my head in. It doesn't fucking make sense. We can talk ALL day about how Leon is canonically responsible for genocides. It's canon that these things have happened because he never has the backbone to finish the job or manage his feelings like a grown adult. It's an interesting talk, but it's NEVER (or very barely) addressed that way in the actual material. His whole "turn the other cheek, because he needs a vague romance" trope is really just one massive fucking plot hole and I don't know why people aren't completely pissed about it. His messy narrative is one of my least favourite things in the series. It almost turns me off of his games and movies entirely. I enjoyed REmake, 7 and 8 the most because at least the characters add up. Their motivations are clear. It's a fully formed story and we know who does what and why. They just haven't fucking done that with Leon. They can't decide on whether to flesh him out properly or to keep throwing him early naughts b-movie tropes that arguably, just make him less likeable (to me).

Sorry for the rant. But holy shit. Anything about his character outside of "I'm angry, let's shoot" has been fucking terrible, in my eyes. They have no idea what to do with him. His choices constantly fucking contradict themselves. That Ashley actually has a whole load of potential and Ada has only ever been an empty, racist and sexist stereotype that can't be fixed unless they bother to actually write any sort of story for her other than "sexy Asian is mean sometimes, but her terrorism is okay because the emo boy kissed her this one time and has known her for a combined 15 hours."

Elemental wasn't as bad as I thought but I still hate Disney

Okay, so i watched Elemental and it wasn't as bad as I thought but I still hate Disney and I think it's a good decision to boycott Disney plus. The pirated versions have just as good quality as Disney plus, and Disney is making a lot of bad decisions. Elemental was actually way better than I thought, I absolutely loved the characters (except Clod) and it wasn't as bad as I thought though. I thought it was gonna be a terrible Zootopia-like story but it wasn't. The only complaint was Clod being in love with Ember when he's a literal child... like, the whole kid having a crush on adult trope is so disgusting in family movies. Especially coming from Disney, and we know their p*dophilia from the past. (The age gaps between the princesses and princes in classic movies, and showing Colleen Ballinger in Ralph Wrecks the internet, and they still decided to make a child have a crush on a grown women? gross!) At least Ember didn't like him back but idk why people think a little kid having a crush on an adult is "cute" because it's not. They did it in Disney channel shows as well and as a kid I had no idea how weird it was. I still give Elemental maybe a 6/10

Okay, so I'm going to mostly talk about Disney's past racism and their new show "Primos" and why they'll never learn! I'm a white American so no one's gonna listen to me but if you're ethnic group they're making fun of, YOU SHOULD PROTEST! Boycott Disney plus, cancel your subscription, write complaint emails/letters to them, do EVERYTHING you can to let them know that Primos is a terrible show and that it should have never been greenlit and that they can't make money off of that crap! Just, DO SOMETHING TO STOP THEM FROM RELEASING THIS SHOW! They've been bad enough over the years with the racism (early Mickey mouse cartoons) and now they're going back to the 1920s again because Primos is just as racist as they used to be.

So yeah, you heard me annoying little rants and you know how I feel about Disney. There's only like 12 movies I like from them out of... like 1000? As for the Disney channel sitcoms and cartoons, most of those I enjoy. Hannah Montana, Good Luck Charlie, Liv & Maddie, Suite life, A.N.T farm, Austin & Ally, Raven, you name it! All those shows were so fun! My favorite cartoons were Jungle Junction and Fish Hooks but Phineas and Ferb was cool too. I'm also starting to get into the new show called Kiff, about a squirrel (but it doesn't beat Scaredy Squirrel). As much as I hate Disney, I don't want to ignore the good kids shows they've had over the years, like from my era, the 2000s. I hate most of their old movies and I really think the new cartoon Primos makes Disney channel look bad. Encanto and Coco represented the culture so well, why couldn't Primos do the same? "the fact that dickbabs is toxic" One, not an objective fact. Two, no it isn't. Three, no, really, it isn't.

That’s honestly just two things instead of three babe. Also yeah, dickbabs IS toxic overall. Is every comic, tv, or movie representation of them toxic? No. But are many? Yes. Especially with how the fandom will portray them as well.

Babs most of the time is older than Dick by a lot.

The problem with this is that she did basically see him grow up. She was there when he was Robin to when he became nightwing. She would be able to legally drink and vote when he couldn’t even have a license half the time. We’ve seen her get aged down just for the relationship. That could be argued to be a good thing but it could also be argued to be bad because why should she have to be aged down for a male character, right?

Also her being deaged takes away so much from her character. It completely changes her story. And listen, don’t know about you anon but anyone having to change themselves or be changed for a love interest ain’t gonna be a healthy relationship.

Also when they first get together it wasn’t good. Dick cheated. And then gives Babs an invitation to his future wedding, with Kori, right after doing the you know what.

That is a start to something not healthy at all. And that’s full on blame for Dick. (Also just bad writing because god was this unneeded)

Also, this relationship have some racist undertones one could say. Twice Dick ends up in a romantic relationship with a black women but oh no gotta make room for the white woman. Since apparently for Dick and Nightwing to be at his best he’s gotta be with white woman Barbara Gordon.

Which is once again going with the whole idea that to be their best selves they need to be with each other. News flash people you don’t need to be with someone to be your best self. Why can’t Dick stay with a woman he fell in love with? Why is it that in order to be considered his best he has to be with Babs?

Also the plain out disrespect that writers and fans have for Kori because of this ship. Why must one love interest have her relationship with the guy completely reduced and ignored? Why must she be made as lesser for the other love interest to succeed? Dickbabs is a toxic ship that affects other characters as well.

And Barbara is a jealous person. This if all fine and good, many people are, many hero���s are, I myself am a self proclaimed jealous person. But this time she let it get in the way of hero work, of building a powerful team. She chose to not include Kori in the group/team, Birds Of Prey because of Kori’s past relationship with Dick. The fact that Babs is letting her jealousy affect her work now is not good, especially considering what they all do. Kori is powerful, she would have been incredibly helpful. Babs letting her jealousy get the better of her with something this important isn’t good and only leaves the question of how many times will something like this keep happening as long as dickbabs is still present. (Also putting two very smart and talented woman against each other isn’t cool DC)

Now boundaries, a key point in all relationships. Something Babs has trouble with. Including her relationship with Dick.

Ever heard of the Grayson cam? It’s what Babs uses in Chuck Dixon's Nightwing and Birds of Prey of her spying on him. Without his permission. Dick Grayson has a past with being sexualized, especially by women. Babs is just one of the many, and is sadly his girlfriend in many things. This is a huge red flag and not okay at all. Anon, how would you feel if you had a SO who was spying on you? In your home where you should feel safest? With you completely unaware? I would feel violated that’s for fucking sure.

And it’s not just that, oh no, the boundary crossing doesn’t end there. She is constantly over riding his decision. Out of the capes and in them. Now Dick is a leader, he’s been a hero since before he was 13. He knows what he’s doing, been doing it longer than her. At the very least she could listen to him but she doesn’t. That’s not a healthy relationship.

Now let’s get into Babs and her being disabled being something that is taken away in order for these two to be together. You read that correctly, our beloved girl behind the screen who didn’t stop being a hero just because she’s now disabled is something that was completely erased in order for these two be in a relationship.

In Nightwing (1996) #86 these two broke up because Babs was having a hard time with Dick talking about the past, when he was Robin and she was Batgirl, when she wasn’t in a wheelchair. Now Tom fucking Taylor puts them together again and suddenly they’re back together! Bravo! Good as new! Except oh, whats this? Babs is no longer disabled! Oh well, who cares? As long as dickbabs are together. How many shows and movies and yes comics still have them together and Babs is still kicking it as batgirl? Why does her having a disability have to be changed in order for these two to be together? Does it make her less perfect? Once again not very healthy and terrible fucked up writing.

Now let’s talk about big changes to Dick’s character. Say goodbye to the OG Titans, his best friends, since when Babs is in the picture that doesn’t exist anymore and neither does his love interest where in an alternative universe/future they do get married and have kid. (Aka Kori). This relationship always has to be number one. Can neither have other friends or relationships? Must it always be just each other? Must their entire world revolve around the other so much that they might as well have no connections outside of Gotham?

Now I don’t have a problem with people shipping them. I’m just saying y’all can’t ignore the fact that this indeed is a toxic relationship. Of course I do have my personal opinions that cause me to have a stronger dislike for the ship itself but that’s just me.

I’m not saying it’s bad to ship them or don’t ship them, just be aware of exactly what you are shipping. I hope these at the very least teaches some people about this ship. It’s okay to get more or new information and to change opinions about stuff. It’s okay to grow.
